Newton's Laws of Motion
1) "An object will not change its motion unless acted on by an unbalanced force."
A body remains at rest, or in motion at a constant speed in a straight line, except insofar as it is acted upon by a force.
2) "Force equals mass multiplied by acceleration."
The net force on a body is equal to the body's acceleration multiplied by its mass or, equivalently, the rate at which the body's momentum changes with time.
3) "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction"
If two bodies exert forces on each other, these forces have the same magnitude but opposite directions.

Adhd? Nah nah. It’s a CPU problem, my dude. My processor is super outdated and doesn’t have nearly enough threads to process daily functions. Keeps having to restart tasks, because it doesn’t have enough power to keep track of multiple things at a time. That’s why I get distracted so easily. No other reason.

what's it like studying CS?? im pretty confused if i should choose CS as my major xx
hi there!
first, two "misconceptions" or maybe somewhat surprising things that I think are worth mentioning:
there really isn't that much "math" in the calculus/arithmetic sense*. I mostly remember doing lots of proofs. don't let not being a math wiz stop you from majoring in CS if you like CS
you can get by with surprisingly little programming - yeah you'll have programming assignments, but a degree program will teach you the theory and concepts for the most part (this is where universities will differ on the scale of theory vs. practice, but you'll always get a mix of both and it's important to learn both!)
*: there are some sub-fields where you actually do a Lot of math - machine learning and graphics programming will have you doing a lot of linear algebra, and I'm sure that there are plenty more that I don't remember at the moment. the point is that 1) if you're a bit afraid of math that's fine, you can still thrive in a CS degree but 2) if you love math or are willing to be brave there are a lot of cool things you can do!
I think the best way to get a good sense of what a major is like is to check out a sample degree plan from a university you're considering! here are some of the basic kinds of classes you'd be taking:
basic programming courses: you'll knock these out in your first year - once you know how to code and you have an in-depth understanding of the concepts, you now have a mental framework for the rest of your degree. and also once you learn one programming language, it's pretty easy to pick up another one, and you'll probably work in a handful of different languages throughout your degree.
discrete math/math for computer science courses: more courses that you'll take early on - this is mostly logic and learning to write proofs, and towards the end it just kind of becomes a bunch of semi-related math concepts that are useful in computing & problem solving. oh also I had to take a stats for CS course & a linear algebra course. oh and also calculus but that was mostly a university core requirement thing, I literally never really used it in my CS classes lol
data structures & algorithms: these are the big boys. stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, graphs, sorting algorithms, more complicated algorithms… if you're interviewing for a programming job, they will ask you data structures & algorithms questions. also this is where you learn to write smart, efficient code and solve problems. also this is where you learn which problems are proven to be unsolvable (or at least unsolvable in a reasonable amount of time) so you don't waste your time lol
courses on specific topics: operating systems, Linux/UNIX, circuits, databases, compilers, software engineering/design patterns, automata theory… some of these will be required, and then you'll get to pick some depending on what your interests are! I took cybersecurity-related courses but there really are so many different options!
In general I think CS is a really cool major that you can do a lot with. I realize this was pretty vague, so if you have any more questions feel free to send them my way! also I'm happy to talk more about specific classes/topics or if you just want an answer to "wtf is automata theory" lol

hbggg wanna write America and Australia asking old ppl (Scotland and prussia, china maybe) about the first high explosives which ends in them making fulminating gold and silver in scotlands garage, they get out the aqua reigis it's a fucking blast (ba dum tss).
But I don't have the chemistry knowledge
#Rather I do have the chemistry knowledge I just dont know how to convey it without sounding like a paper#pls send help I hate having science brainrot#The heam speaks#For context culminating silver is incredibly reactive. If you touch it with a lighted splint even if its wet it'll just fukin detonate on#Jack would love watching Gilbert and Alisdair argue about how to make fulminating silver and Alfred would be taking notes bc he wants#Imagine your uncle and some other crusty dude yelling at each other about how not to handle high explosives. Then it detonated#Everyone knows mercury fulminate they probably wouldn't go through that#WAIT THOSE 4 WOULD HAVE A SCIENCE CHANNEL#Alfred would go on 2 hour long explanations about astrophysics#And with Gilbert and alisdair they could easily talk for hours on shitty video quality about machines and their mechanisms and their histor#Gilbert and alisdair would have a whole series “What not to do with chemistry” basically making a lot of explosives#And things of questionable legal standing. Like carbon tetra chloride because we know alisdair doesn't throw shit out and probably has some#Organo-phosphates and other highly dangerous chemicals and compounds banned in the 60s to 90s in his shed#Alfred just casually talks about nuclear reactions.#Jack and guest appearances of zee would be examining animal and human biology in a sory of crack head way that people love.#He has a pretty large base of people who watch his videos. Short and quick forward but genuinely educational#While people like me are going to watch Alfred go on for hours about isotopes and allo tropes and isomers fission fusion the whole lot.#Alisdair and Gilbert's velideos constantly toe the line of legality. There is a lot if swearing and questionable health and safety

wait you guys like perfume too ?? do y'all have a favourite maker - 🪲
oh I only really got into it very recently so I don't know that much about it other than like, really specific stuff about certain compounds because I learnt about them in a different context that led me onto learning about their use in perfume.
in terms of perfumes we like, we normally wear Drakkar Noir which was kind of an impulse purchase because we wanted to start wearing perfume and didn't know what else to get, and I do really like the smell of it, but I think it'd be nice to try some other scents at some point to see which ones we like.
I'd like to learn more about how different scents interact with each other and how perfumes are formulated based on that because I think the science behind it is really cool
#ask#🍬 post#currently zooted#this took forever to answer because I couldn't figure out how to explain what I meant with the stuff that I do know about#but basically I got into this by trying to work out why certain floral and fruity smells reminded me of stinkhorn when combined#(stinkhorns smell of rotting flesh and I know there's a sweet component to that smell#but I wanted to know what specifically was reminding me of it)#so I ended up googling what compounds made up various smells and reading about that#and in the process I stumbled across a blog run by a perfumer that talks about death#and the science behind the smells involved in that as well as what scents are used for different death related customs#so it was kind of one special interest leading into another in a really unexpected way#and then I started looking at like the terminology that's used with the different notes used in perfumes#and how perfumers end up considering things like how the smell changes as different components evaporate over time#and I think that's really cool. like with Drakkar Noir you start of with this citrus-y kind of scent from the top notes#and then those fade pretty quickly and you start to get more of the woodier base notes coming through#and then there's the thing of how because different people have different skin flora and therefore their own scent#a perfume will smell different on different people and you might really like it on one person but not on another#and yeah idk where I'm going with this. I'm very rambly but also can't tell how much of this is making sense#a lot of the science behind perfume and creating the scents reminds me of the science behind making different candy flavours#so I also find that overlap interesting#and that also comes back to the death interest because some esters used as flavourings are also components of decomposition smells#especially kind of fruity ones. I think a couple of them are used for banana and pear flavours and scents. so like pear drops#anyway yeah. that's kind of what I've been rambling to 🦋 about

i remember again n feel better hehe 🥹🤍
#🌙.rambles#thought i'd just ramble abt this to my notes but maybe a fellow wanderer wld come across this#i mean. aside from a few irls that could very much stumble across this.. i get shy n embarrassed at the though of it but OH WELL HDKGJSKDS#majority here r basically friends acquaintances n strangers that essentially don't know. like my real name or address or wtvr.#basically we don't know each other irl directly so it's somehow for some reason much easier for me to be open about how i feel in tumblr ta#s bcs 1) i write VERY long. very unlikely that someone wld read it unless they seeked it out for some reason that only they'd know#my brain's empty rn it's a bit of a mess but i feel better than just pure emptiness bcs i remember how#genuinely when it comes to other ppl.. despite how they may feel about their own selves. disappointed hatred wtvr#that. regardless of that i know that my own truth for them would be that i'll love them the same#let's say if i don't reach a certain standard for my own grades. say i usually get grades that r 90-100 often around the higher end too#but for one course i get vey slightly below the 90 mark. i'd feel like such a failure i'd feel like such a disappointment#so much so that i genuinely can't accept how others aren't disappointment in me despite how much of a failure i feel i am#turn the tables however; how do i react for others? even if. theoretically let's say they outright fail#i wouldn't think of them as anything less. it doesn't change anything bcs i genuinely love and care for the other wholly from the heart#they're my equal. they're my friend. yeah.. i rmb times in the past where i wld nearly break down from being around the passing score for#only 1 exam. i'd have friends that failed though. & i also forgot of how for other exams i basically got perfect or wtvr#it's so easy to just blind ourselves n focus on failure n forget. things that r most important#i deal with failure.. very badly honestly bcs i achieved very well as a kid. aside from stuff in filipino which uh. yeah trauma but um#maths n sciences n english or wtvr n nearly everything else i'd get easy perfects but i'd forget them over one disappointment#i struggled w that lately w my released grades n it still hurts the regret really hurts so much n i hate myself so much for it but#i'm.. trying to be kind n i've managed to feel like myself for a while today. progress. thats enough to be proud of#bcs yk knowing how others feel of their own selves n the way i treat them despite it. i cld at least try again to do the same for myself#say 10 years from now i'd be more thankful n happy if i forgave myself for it than destroyed myself in pursuit of doing better#more than. success in terms of grades i'd much rather grow n develop as a person#that said recently i've had so much anxiety w reaching out to ppl n i reply slowly but i'm trying to do better#bcs yesterday i rmb feeling so low that i really wanted to reach out to someone.. that's a whole nother lvl of pain for me bcs that means#my hopelessness reached a level enough that i knew i really needed comfort n support or i'll break#indirectly. helping you made me realize n remember myself. n i felt well enough to reach out once more.. i'm too shy to say directly but#thank you very much for that. it means more to me than you'll ever know

Is there a better feeling in the whole world than your best friend asking you to share/explain world building details about a fandom that you know and love but haven’t really done much with in ages (and frankly have forgotten a lot of the details of oops) that she doesn’t really know, but wants to learn about and maybe more importantly wants to watch you talk about?
