→ Study 𝐗𝐕𝐈𝐈: Tri-dimensional outcome of the sinners: immortality, wilderness and corruption.

Khaenri'ah was home to two distinct kind of people who dwelled it: those who are considered pure-blood Khaenri'ahn and those who abandoned their gods and were welcomed as citizens of Khaenri'ah. The trait known thus far about what differs from one another remains on two factors: the outline of a four-pointed star for those who are of pure Khaenri'ahn blood, whereas for others the pupil may change as a result of mixed progeny coming from a pure blood Khaenri'ahn and an outsider; as for the second factor, it is the premise that those who come from any of the seven nations of Teyvat are considered to have the bloodline of other demon gods (HYV is at it again omitting relevant information via localization even though it's stated in Chinese, good job on that one).

The particularity that those of mixed blood are said to contain bloodline of other demon gods sheds more light on the era that the original Khaenri'ahn people come from. The major insistence in regards of the gods seems to be in the Seven and their demonic names with this little detail missed in translation, which could put them somewhere during the Archon War era (which they already were a thing during this time, at least +3,700 years ago without counting the extra 500 years since the kingdom was destroyed). However, we know of gods of this era that had demon names also, such as Guizhong or Orobashi.

This would make us go all the way back to the Era of the Saints in which we know about the divine and heavenly intervention with humans in giving them guidance and causing them to thrive. Were this the case, I find there would be a discrepancy which is the fact that Istaroth, God of Time and presumably one of the Primordial One's Shining Shades, also has a demonic name (in this case being Astaroth). There is knowledge that Khaenri'ah was aware about the Era of the Sovereign Dragons, but it is said that at the time the world's conditions weren't favorable for human life, not to mention that human creation began at the hand of Phanes after he defeated these seven dragons and recreated the world with the help of the Shining Shades.

There is another lead that makes me believe that the people we know of as original Khaenri'ahns stem from this era in particular is one of Clothar's quotes: "The gods of this world have never stood with humanity... Not even for a moment!". At first glance this wouldn't say anything as we conceive Khaenri'ah as part of the world Teyvat. But there are two things to note here: 1) Khaenri'ah is not considered as part of this world (probably because of its underground location and likely because the Abyss may be in between, this will be a topic of a different debate on another post) and 2) Epoch Winter, one of Pierro's final quotes: "But, Rosalyne, I promise you... Your final resting place will be the entirety of the 'Old World'." Genshin's way of referring to different worlds thus far implies two things: 1) a different location that doesn't correspond to the surface of the continent of Teyvat and 2) a different era. That we know of so far, Teyvat has gone through three eras: Era of the Dragon Sovereigns and Vishaps, Era of the Saints and Era of the Seven. Whether Pierro here means the Era of the Saints or the former is up to debate, although what concerns humans it's more likely to be the Era of the Saints as that marked the beginning of human life in Teyvat.

On to the main point of this headcanon / meta's title, the outcomes of Khaenri'ahn people are initially two, one for each kind of curse, albeit it is not entirely that way. While we're stemming from the curse of immortality —which causes their souls to erode and their bodies to decay until they are virtually nonexistent— and the curse of wilderness —which transforms mixed people into hilichurls—, there is another component that affects the way these outcomes end for these people: the poison of the Abyss. For those who suffer from the curse of immortality as pure blood Khaenri'ahns, we saw in Requiem of the Echoing Depths a presumably pure blood, Halfdan, who turned into a different creature. We know of another example in Sumeru of a Black Serpent Knight lady who went to fend off the monsters of the Abyss and was believed to be disappeared, but she returned to the Ruin Golem as a different creature also. For the curse of wilderness, we have hilichurls and whether they also have the possibility to become into an abyssal creature or not is still a mystery (highly to be that way too). However, we also know that there are Abyss Mages and other creatures like Heralds and Lectors (I'll talk about these latter two in another post) that may be potential former Khaenri'ahns too, as they are actively working on the kingdom's "revival" and they can order hilichurls or manipulate them —this could be exclusively due to the shared language, manipulation of abyssal poison or both—.

To conclude this, there seems to be ways to relief the curse's effects while not entirely removing them without experiencing something akin to burning an important section of one's body and going through the miracle of surviving to that pain. But there is also the prospect that it is possible to be freed from the curse of immortality (at least, as we don't know officially about the curse of wilderness in regards of the hilichurls but Caribert is there, probably for another time in the future as he's described as the Loom of Fate and this operation is still undergoing). Not only that, but in ridding oneself of the curse of immortality it seems that it is the same case for the descendants of said person (we know that Clothar didn't enjoy the life arranged to him by his family and that Caribert is his illegitimate son, but for Kaeya to even be a thing to this day there are two options: 1) either Caribert continued somehow the Alberich bloodline or 2) Clothar had (an)other kid(s) considered "legitimate" and somewhere down the line after a few generations Kaeya was born).

princess tutu: die jahreszeiten 🌸

kind of a companion piece to my 2022 ptutu drawing | it's on inprnt

this print was at anime north; next con is otakuthon!

oops so my hand slipped and i made another princess tutu drawing. i admittedly don't watch that much anime so my catalogue of work is gonna be the same 5 animes LMAO. what can i say, i love "dark" fairy tales, and i've been really enjoying the more fine art approach to a lot of my drawings as of late (and the watercolour brush i've been using has been so perfect for that...!)

as my first princess tutu drawing is now 2 years old, there are some areas i've grown to have ... qualms with... although both drawings as a whole are pretty much exactly what i envisioned, and that's always satisfying!

both of these were drawn in roughly a week's time (yes really...) for con crunch period (and i went back to this drawing after the con to touch up some areas that were a bit rough!). i wanted a different approach to this new pt drawing, with the focus on the line work, rather than on colours and lighting in the 2022 drawing.

this drawing had 2 goals: to continue the style i adopted in my witch hat atelier "lantern bearers" drawing (which i promise i'll post in full soon as soon as all of the zine artists get their go-ahead to post their pieces!), and to emulate the art nouveau movement's heavy emphasis on line work, albeit not a 1:1 style replication of course.

the seasons also aren't a 1:1 representation, as i didn't necessarily pick flowers or colours that are most strongly associated with the season (e.g. summer being a dark tone is a bold choice?). but it's kinda whatever, as i said before i drew this in a week, there may be more appropriate flowers with better meanings. i couldn't spend too too much time drafting and researching.

FLOWER SYMBOLISM:

- spring: apple blossoms, tulips - the apple blossom is a quintessential spring flower, and thus symbolize the arrival of spring. spring is a season of change, which ahiru/princess tutu is a force of, instigating change in her friends and unravelling the story around her. the flowers below her are tulips, and there are many meanings to tulips depending on the colour, due to their ubiquitous nature. i narrowed on one, and intended for them to symbolize happiness. princess tutu's pose is one in which that is open, inviting, and warm - reflecting her nurturing nature in the series, and her willingness to help others achieve happiness.

- summer: deadly nightshade flower, yellow rose - i chose for rue/princess kraehe to symbolize a fiery summer's night instead of the typical dazzling heat of a summer's day, a rather bold and unusual choice. the warmth of sunshine didn't quite fit, as the character is quite dramatic and passionate, with her intentions often hidden in shadow. next, the deadly nightshade - atropa belladonna - has a lot of mythological associations, a lot to do with poisoning, as the flower is toxic. the flowers bloom at night (another reason why i picked a nighttime backdrop for "summer") and also outwardly match rue's dark design scheme, as the cherry on top. yellow roses, at the bottom of her frame, are the archetypal flower depicting jealousy (as with many yellow flowers are), and at one point in the story, rue only wished for her own happiness at the misfortune of others.

- autumn: douglas fir needles, orange calla lily - autumn is another season of change - although much more tumultuous, as this season is traditionally taken to prepare for a long winter ahead - fitting for fakir as the role of the storyteller. the douglas fir is not a flower of course, but is a tree - with many different parts of this tree offering many benefits in advance of the winter season. i wanted the versatile nature of the douglas fir to reflect on fakir's dependable personality. next up, the calla lily is a flower with a dual meaning - on one hand you have life, on the other you have death. a storyteller quite literally can grant both at the tip of their fingers.

- winter: birch tree, snowdrop - winter is a rather still and unchanging season, a lull in the passage of time. this symbolizes mytho's passive nature at the start of the series, especially with his doleful pose here, as if almost in hibernation. to contrast, mytho is perched on the branches of a birch tree, which means new beginnings and renewal - as mytho is one of the characters that undergo the most change throughout the series (i'd argue the most?), regaining pieces of his heart. under mytho's frame is the snowdrop flower - and if you've read my witch hat atelier: seasons piece symbolisms, one of the snowdrop's meanings is rebirth, with connotations to the bible, bringing hope, when all had forsaken eve. the snowdrop is one of the first flowers to bloom even when the snow has not yet fully melted, further echoing mytho as an analogy for rebirth.

#poorly drawn mdzs #mdzs #wei wuxian #wen qing #wen ning #Sibling similarity but you only see it when you realize they have the same soggy eyes.#These two always struck me as a bit of a play on Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli for 'siblings who contrast each other.#But after spending a lot more time marinating on Wen Ning I actually think they are way more similar that is initially apparent.#Sure their surface level personality traits are pretty contrastive. But they both are so willing to risk their lives for what's right #Who raised them? In a story so full of examples of how parents shape their children - why are these two lacking in parents?#I imagine that Wen Qing is the older sibling and so her morals of 'help those who need it no matter who they are' got passed a long.#But how did *she* arrive there? Was that instilled within her or was it a reaction against bearing witness to callousness and cruelty?#We'll never know..the only thing I can say for certain is Wen Qing is *so* soggy in the audio drama.#She's like the ant with the bindle. It's a hell of a way to bring a previously sharp tongued character back into the narritive.#Side note: Thank you all for being so patient and kind while I took my break!#It's been a very chaotic few weeks and I didn't realize how bad my burnout was getting. I'm back and ready to keep drawing again!

I started sketching this after the boat fight #and when murph closed riz's arc this season with ''maybe it's okay to change and welcome new things'' I pogged irl #I am simply the best at reading comprehension what can I say! (<- grown ass man with roughly the same perspective on teenhood as the player #fucked up that this became so long (almost 30 squares lol) that it took me this long to finish #lmao I say all that but. genuinely I am delirious and my feelings abt riz's arc this season are so big... i hit 1k followers recently!!!! yipee!!!!!!! thank you all!!! so in celebration here’s all of my completed isat doodle pages, from oldest to newest. go nuts with them!! and maybe don’t look at the first doodle page too closely. it’s Old.

(no greyscale version below for once! just some mushy ramblings. you don’t have to read them don’t worry)

ok but seriously, thank you all so much for all the support. i never really. expected to make it this far? like, ever?? i’ve mentioned it a few times on here, but i’ve been a lurker for the past… 2 years, i think? and even before that, i never gained much traction outside of a couple posts. so this has been. very new to me!! in a nice way!! it’s weird to feel like an actual member of a community!! that people know about!

the idea of finally coming back to social media was Daunting (i literally got stress hives writing my first post lol) and the warm reception really. meant a lot?? i don’t think i would’ve ever gotten the courage to come back if i hadn’t been encouraged to by the people over at the isat discord!!

the fact that people actually care about my art still doesn’t feel real?? seeing people take inspiration from my art is just. surreal. just. auagssh. thank you all so so much for everything, i really do appreciate it!!! i’m really glad to be in this community. sorry if this all sounds sappy and long winded i’ve just got a lot of emotions about this whole thing!!

(also as a bonus for reading all this or whatever. here’s a concept page for isatscryption! it felt a little out of place next to my normal canvases so i’m putting it down here! yipee! sorry my notes here are so disjointed auauau…)
