hmmmm i have quite a few

i don't like luna lovegood. i think she's very irritating as a person and i would absolutely go batshit if i had to interact with her in real life. she is the wizard equivalent of a flat earther and an anti vaxxer, not a spiritual guide. hermione wasn't narrow minded for doubting her and xeno, they were the narrow minded ones for never questioning their beliefs despite the MOUNTAINS of evidence against them. rahhh she makes me so angry. (i hate that i have to specify, but this isn't misogynistic, i would feel the same if she was a guy.)

lucius malfoy is a relatively harmless guy, he's just slippery. he gives me such peacock vibes. he just wants to show off and look rich and not be questioned. (also he def dotes on narcissa and draco which is adorable to explore in fics <3 i think he would be an amazing father to a little girl and would have loved a daughter which i like exploring in my fics, but that's just a headcanon)

draco is the same way, i feel. iirc he's usually too scared to start shit unless crabbe and goyle are there, he just makes me laugh tbh. of course he does do and say some shitty things but i am just. unable to take him seriously. this may be because i haven't thought about his character in a while, but as of right now, i don't really see him as evil OR a sympathetic little boy. he's just. a little dude. (he is more dangerous than his father though, i'll give him that.) i mean if marauders stans are allowed to glorify james potter and put him on a pedestal, i'm allowed to have this.

percy weasley! i love percy so much, i think this is an uncommon opinion but i don't really know. i think he's amazing, i've already talked about him a lot on my blog so ye :)

i think the weasley family is dysfunctional asf. i don't think i personally can explain it, but this post by @/arkadijxpancakes does a great job of comprehensively analyzing their history and dynamics as well as showing why each weasley is the way they are. super good read!

albus dumbledore: i don't know why this is controversial but i actually think he was a good character, all things considered. yes, he did some bad things, but they were to help save the wizarding world in the end. he set it all up.

severus snape: i think he's awesome, deserved WAY better, and was a traumatized character who is severely overhated. please don't try to fight me on this, you'll just give me a headache.

lily evans: this is a very new opinion of mine but... i don't think she was a great person. i used to wonder 'how could james potter, a shitty little twit twat, end up with such a wonderful and kind and amazing person?' but i've come to realize, she's really not those things. she was kind of a bad friend from what we know. i still think she's very interesting, but not necessarily a good person.

harry potter!! i want to include him because i think that quite frankly he is an awesome little dude but is super underrated and borderline disliked by a big part of the fandom. though i personally feel like he could have been written better in some ways, i still love him tons and i think he deserves more appreciation <33 (also i adore the idea of an oddly specific au where percy and oliver team up to take care of lil tiny first year harry)

neville longbottom: this may be the most controversial one yet but i just don't feel the hype. i feel like he was largely unimportant in the first six books besides as a side character (but it's been a while since i read most of them, so correct me if i'm wrong) and yeah he was cool in the seventh, but like... i still don't feel it. he was pretty boring imo. i think i logically understand why he's loved, but i don't personally relate :/

(canon) james potter: hate him. -100000000/10. he can go die. (OH WAIT HE ALREADY DID!) i'm sorry, i just cannot like him. fanon james is awesome and super cute and lovable, but fanon james is a whole different person than canon james. if we compare young severus to harry, james is dudley dursley in literally every way. rich, privileged, gets away with everything, and loves picking on powerless and vulnerable people for fun. the only difference is that james potter tended to do it with a partner/group, and dudley could do it on his own. oh, and dudley apologized, i guess. it was pretty half assed but we did see him trying to be better with the teacup and stuff. they both suck, obviously, but at least dudley had a slight turning point. maybe i just don't like james because we never saw him be apologetic or regret anything in canon? idk.

cho chang: i honestly really liked her! i thought she and harry could have been super cute ever since i read the third book. now obviously valentines day of 1996 was a disaster, but i still think that if she and harry had met up again after the war and after they had figured themselves out, they could have sort of talked and apologized and moved on and possibly rekindled. idk, this isn't really as ~controversial~ as some of the others because i feel like cho chang is just more forgotten than unpopular or controversial, but i don't see a lot of charry content out there so i'm putting this here :]

one last thing i almost forgot, VIKTOR KRUM IS A FUCKING CREEP!! i used to be more hesitant about voicing this opinion because he's so loved in the fandom, but GOD DAMN he's a creep. as a famous, rich, popular adult, he asks out a 15 year old and is super nice to her and appreciates her intellect and is generally very sweet to her, but that just. that literally just sounds like grooming to me?? wtf?? i mean if i was asked out at 15 by an 18 year old, i would be VERY creeped out. also he comments on how attractive ginny (15 at the time) is at bill's wedding when HE IS IN HIS 20s. he then makes a comment along the lines of 'what's the point of being famous if all the good looking girls are taken?' HEY HERE'S AN IDEA, FIND A WOMAN INSTEAD OF A GIRL??

It’s rediculous that people think that viktor cum is a good person after what he did to regulus, he literally stole the title of “best seeker in the world” from regulus, even though regulus was dead his legacy means that nobody else should have the title out of respect, it is like when Twice stans try to say they are the nation’s girl group despite that being a title made specifically for SNSD. It’s completely inappropriate of viktor and I think the fandom glosses over this FACT

I hate him! I think he’s a weirdo, I could excuse him going out with Hermione was he was 18 and she was 15, IF he hadn’t said he found 16 year old Ginny attractive during Bill and Fleurs Wedding. I think that was just the author forgetting how old he was, but it upsets me. The idea of Hermione spending the summer with an older boy she barely knows in a foreign country without her friends or parents is anxiety inducing to me, so glad she didn’t go with him.

Otherwise all I have to say is that him catching the snitch when he did was stupid, they definitely had time to wait for the chasers to make more goals. His teammates were probably very angry with him after that.

i would like to point out that i think viktor krum is disgusting. of course in goblet of fire he goes with hermione at the age of 18 while she’s barely 15. then in deathly hallows he asks harry (who’s disguised) at bill and fluer’s wedding about ginny who was still 15 on august 1, 1997. krum was 21. i hate him and i hope he retired from quidditch due to a very painful injury.

take it from his best friend since the start of school-- he may look intense but he’s got a heart of gold. viktor is thoughtful, caring, he's the type of guy who brings you coffee just the way you like it while you study in the library (no, he won’t join you in revision, but he’ll distract you from your upcoming test).

Everyone's coming up with (frankly, implausible) theories on how Severus Snape is descended from Credence Barebone and I'm over here thinking how much they'd HATE each other.

Credence would be pissed about the child abuse, favoritism, and entitlement to Lily.

Snape would be jealous because Credence did similar things got everything he ever wanted.

Edit: forgot how ppl compared him to Viktor Krum in the second movie when Krum canonically HATES Grindelwald for killing his grandfather and would most likely punch Credence in the face for willingly working with him.

Krumione was,, a really interesting ship.

Maybe I'm just overly touchy or whatever but he was 18/had a professional career and was one of the most famous people in the wizarding world, while Hermione was a 15 year old girl still in school who hadn't even taken her O.W.L.s yet (power imbalance much??). It's kind of weird that he sought out Hermione, a smart but not so popular girl, when he could have asked, like, anyone else closer to his age.

At Bill and Fleur's wedding, he also comments on Ginny's attractiveness, which was... pretty weird? At this point he would be like in his early 20s but he's still looking at girls who are quite young (Ginny was 15 almost 16).

Also I feel like if his character was actually portrayed in the movies like he was described in the books (he more or less just looked like Snape but younger) the relationship would have a lot more backlash, but he was played by a pretty conventionally attractive actor... so...

As always, I agree with you! How tired I am of these statements against Hermione. Appearance is the last thing Harmony is appreciated for, since their relationship is much deeper than a sporty ass on a broomstick and a monster in the chest. But Krum, the world star of Quidditch, invited Hermione and called her beautiful, Cormac, who is not one of the guys who appreciate only the inner world of girls, became interested in Hermione. Harry noticed Hermione at the ball, and all that was said about Ginny was that she was wincing. Ginny's beauty is generally overrated. We find out that Ginny is beautiful only because Pansy said that many people liked Ginny, given that none of the Weasleys were described as handsome, I perceived that Ginny's popularity among the boy with a hormonal surge was rather caused by her superficial character

I’ve just seen a Romione shipper say Hermione is mid in attractiveness/looks (which just goes to show how they want to make her average-looking so it’s easier to self-insert themselves as her imo). To be honest, I personally wouldn’t find Hermione attractive in the HP universe. Canon says otherwise. It’s first apparent that Neville showed in interest in her, Viktor Krum showed an interest in her, Cormac McLaggen showed an interest in her, Harry described her as a “pretty girl” at the Yule Ball, Draco couldn’t find an insult to give her when he saw her at the Yule Ball (teeny tiny part that says a lot), and then there’s the drunk who hit on her in DH.

And most of this interest was gained after her teeth got resized to normal. And I think it’s more telling how specific these are compared to Ginny suddenly becoming the hottest girl at Hogwarts. And it’s a lot more realistic to think that a handful of people think someone is attractive instead of an entire school, especially in a world with a limited number of people, cuz of a difference in opinion/tastes in what one finds attractive of course.

In conclusion, Hermione is attractive, and canon does nothing to refute otherwise.

I think Victoire and Teddy are cute, and make a lot of sense, but I low-key kinda hate the names of all the Epilogue Kids.

Like I'm aware that 'Scorpius' is a constellation and fits the theme, but Draco, read the room. 'Scorpius' is incredibly evil wizard coded, you're smarter than this. In the Cursed Child there's the (very stupid) rumor that Voldemort is Scorpius' biological father, and Draco is like 'but why do they think that???" I don't know, Draco, you've practically named him Salazar Jr.

I think Draco would do something that straddled pretentious and classy, stayed traditional but also subtly communicated anti-Voldemort sentiment. So like... naming his kid after whatever constellation was ascendant over the battle of hogwarts/death of Voldemort. Which would make his kid Corvus Malfoy.

('Crow' would appeal to post-war Draco & Astoria as an image, I think. They're clever. They're survivors. They're aesthetic. Also if they had a daughter - possibly Berenice. Another early May constellation, and I think they'd like that it means "victory bringer.")

And Rose and Hugo. Okay. If you're Hermione, and you look at the name Hugo, you're going to think Victor Hugo. Which means that you can at least make the argument that she stealth-named her kid after Viktor Krum, in a way she knew Ron would never pick up on. I mean 'Hugo' is just kinda an unusual name choice, hard not to read into it. And then 'Rose' sounds so similar to Ron's crush Madame Rosmerta? I like that Ron and Hermione just went off and chose names that didn't follow any sort of a pre-established system. I just don't think they would have landed on *those* names.

What do you think about Albus Severus in The Cursed Child? And I know they were pretty much ignored by the narrative, but what about James Sirius and Lily Luna? (gosh these names are ridiculous. Is there there anything weirder than naming two of your children after both of your parents who were married and in love?)

Also how come none of Ginny's family is in there??

Okay. If I'm assuming that Harry and Ginny got married young and had their first kid at 23-24... I don't think either of them are going to be especially creative namers. They're just going to go with the most expected thing.

(Harry/Luna is how you get Hawthorn Dobby Xenophilius Potter. Harry/Draco... I think goes with Sirius, because the astronomy name would make Draco happy, and Harry isn't signing off on Scorpius.)

In the wizarding world, the most common thing seems to be to use your name/your grandparents' names as your kids' middle names. Bill is 'William Arthur,' presumably Charlie is named after his paternal grandfather, Percy is 'Percy Ignatius' and I'd be very surprised if Molly's father wasn't called Ignatius Prewett. By the time they get to Ron they're pulling in Arthur's brother (or potentially uncle) Billius.

So Harry and Ginny would just do that. They also seem to have this desire to name the kids after people who have died, and so keep their memory alive that way. Okay.

If no one else is using Fred's name, I think that's the name of their first son. I think Ginny insists on it. In which case (following the pattern established by the world) he would be Fred(rick) Harry Potter.

If someone else is using the name Fred (or George has communicated that he feels uncomfortable with this) I think Harry names his son Sirius, not James. First - I think he'd be saving 'James' for a middle name, because That Is What You Do. Also, there'd be political utility to going with Sirius. Sirius' name was never officially cleared, and I think that no matter what else happens, Harry would be on that post-war. So Sirius Harry Potter.

I think it's in character - I don't think it's healthy, but I do think it's in character - for Harry to attempt to work through his complicated feelings about Albus Dumbledore by naming a son after him, and I think Ginny has positive enough associations with Dumbledore that this wouldn't raise any red flags. But there is NO way she is signing off on 'Severus.' It be very 'I understand that you have complicated feelings about him Harry, but you cannot deny that he was a miserable bastard who bullied me and all my friends, and it's not fair to put that on a kid. Also, you're sort of implying that Snape is your father or something if you do that.'

Which leaves number two named Albus James Potter.

I do think they go with Lily for their daughter, there's no talking Harry out of that. But her middle name is going to be Ginevra, after her mother.

Albus James Potter (or Sirius James Potter)
