FLEUR DELACOUR-- elegant, effortless, enchanting. the number one target of the hogwarts rumour mill; though she doesn't seem to care, or really notice at all. fleur isn't concerned with something so trivial, she'd rather spend her time smoking a cigarette in style.

she's got the ultimate older sister energy. need boy advice? she's been there, and yes you should break up with him. want help with your arithmancy homework? she'll give you her old essays to look through (nothing short of top marks, of course). looking for an outfit to sneak out to the muggle pubs in? her closet is yours.

if i have once piece of advice for you: don't underestimate her. she can be your closest friend or greatest adversary.

THEODORE NOTT-- the boy who seems not to care about anything; who speaks only in response, who stares with lifeless eyes, who you just can't seem to figure out no matter how hard you try. he guards his heart and soul with walls so tall, so thick, that it makes you wonder how any light gets in at all.

at least, that's what he's like to most of the student body. but not to mattheo, blaise, or draco. not to me. for someone so nonchalant, he sure has a lot of opinions. he's not afraid of brutal honesty, nor your feelings; when he tells you your sweater washes you out he's being sincere. a serious guy maybe, but theo is also the funniest person i've ever met. his humor is witty and intelligent, he'll never cross the line but never shy away from it either. his love language is definitely touch and quality time. our favorite pastime is sitting on the leather couches in the common room, my head on his shoulder, his resting on top of mine. there, we sit in silence watching the fire crackle, and cherish the time we have together.

theo is observant. just from watching, he'll figure out your likes and dislikes; he knows what makes you tick. his observation skills don't stop at people watching, though. he's a genius when it comes to mechanics. muggle or wizarding, he's fascinated by it all. always taking things apart, putting them back together, theodore nott analyzes hearts and engines alike.

durmstrang institute: a guide to success

"All door-ways, before going forward, should be looked to; for difficult it is to know where foes may sit within a dwelling." - Hávámal

some, like narcissa malfoy, say durmstrang institute is cold, austere, even unwelcoming; a place of strict rules and icy students. they see a school that has no sympathy and room only for those willing to fight for it. they whisper of its history intertwined with dark magic and students gone mad or evil. on some levels, i agree with them; durmstrang isn't a place fit for the weak, the soft, or the close minded. though if you truly are none of those things, you may find yourself right at home in the stone walls, gazing upon the frozen fjord and snow covered forests.

life as a durmstrang student is nothing short of intense; long lectures and longer exams are just the tip of the iceberg. it can be difficult to navigate student life here-- it's a school where perfection is expected, and only few can succeed. my advice: forge your own path, cut corners where you can, and do it all discreetly.

morning rituals

⟢ wake up is early: 06:00 sunday through friday. it doesn't matter if your first lesson is at noon, it's expected you'll be in the great hall for breakfast on time in uniform, looking pristine and polished. for those on the quidditch teams (especially krum's), prepare for an even earlier rising: 04:30 is not an uncommon practice time.

⟢ don't expect anything grand for breakfast. there's no lace nor frills involved, but it will get you through your morning just as well. during the week, the options consist of seeded bread with toppings or porridge. choose one, both, or neither-- no one's stopping you. sundays have more variety, karkaroff requires the chefs to prepare pannekaker (norwegian pancakes) and a variety of pastries (a secret sweet tooth, perhaps?) i recommend that whatever you do, grab a cup of coffee. make it strong, you'll need it.

lessons

⟢ tardiness to lessons is practically a felony in the eyes of the professors. class starts as soon as the horn is blown. this means be in your seat with your materials out and wand away before it sounds, the professors will start their lectures promptly.

⟢ pay attention, you'll never know when you're going to be tested. you could be asked to perform a hex or an impromptu presentation on the effects of the alihotsy sap at any moment.

⟢ keep up with your homework and readings. professors won't go over it, and yes, you will need to know it all for the midterm. late work isn't accepted, and if you dare hand it in past the deadline it will be set aflame before your eyes. no excuses.

⟢ lessons will be challenging-- talent is a prerequisite for durmstrang institute. however, professors will help should you request, and they appreciate when you ask questions or otherwise participate. it's okay to make mistakes, just only make them once.

⟢ dark arts is a subject, but it's less daunting than it seems. it is believed that students should learn all aspects of magic, for one should not ignore dark arts for the sake of "prevention," it won't prevent the eager. it's best tamed in a safe environment. knowledge is power.

nightlife

⟢ after dinner and on saturdays, the staff doesn't care what you do. your free time is for you to do with as you please. just don't go around jinxing your enemies or slaying trolls.

⟢ there isn't a town like hogsmeade by durmstrang, so floo travel is allowed to the closest wizarding communities. they are quite dull though, made up of a few raggedy shops and populated by elderly wizards and witches who want a quiet life. don't let this deter you from leaving the school grounds, it's not out of the ordinary to see older students partying in muggle bars. just be sure stock up on ink, potion ingredients, and chocolate frogs while you're out so you don't seem suspicious.

⟢ when you're not out shopping (😉), be sure to spend some time in the one of the school courtyards. the institute is charmed to be eternally snowy, so put on your gloves and find an empty bench for a moment of peace, or join a snowball fight with the first years in the main yard.

⟢ spend some time in the library to study or eavesdrop on the school's latest gossip. pick your seat strategically, but i recommend you come sit by viktor and i; we'll keep you in the loop if you bring us cardamom buns to fuel our gossip study session.

just STIORRA-- because what does a last name even mean in an apocalyptic world? beautiful, cunning, lethal; her hair kissed by fire, her skin by the stars. and with eyes like that, no one could forget her; no matter how hard they try.

her previous life is shrouded in mystery; her accent is hard to place and she avoids talking about her past like the wildfire virus itself. stiorra says she doesn't understand "all the grump" regarding the end of the world, and is perfectly happy to have no expectations resting upon her shoulders.

i didn't speak after the world ended. what's the point with no one but the dead to hear your pleas? wandering in silence, aimless and free, looking for signs that never came. i don't know how long i roamed, how many miles i traveled, nor can i remember anything from that time. my past life ended, but my new life hadn't yet begun.

i sat roadside smoking a cigarette and painting my nails as a beaten down truck appeared on the horizon. i stuck out my hand with my thumb facing the sky as it approached. that's how i met daryl dixon.

we didn't speak on the road. i didn't ask where we were going, and he didn't ask where i came from. his only acknowledgment of my presence was handing me an expired payday bar. my new life began as we approached a farmhouse with a green roof and wrap around porch, where i'd now call home. safe at last, i let out a sigh, and said my first words in this new world: "got a cigarette?"

5'9 and full of silent rage; eyeliner as sharp as my dagger, and as unpredictable as a revolver. scrappy and resourceful when necessary, but i've got a taste for the finer things in life. let's be real-- practical is ugly, and style takes precedence. low rise jeans, fur lined boots, and vintage racing jackets is how i survive this fashion nightmare. rick is this close to banning me from supply runs, my shopping "hauls" never fail to earn the hand-to-forehead head shake/sigh combo (and an excited beth!)

if i'm not helping around the farm or foraging, you can find me sitting on that green roof i love oh so much. watching the sun rise above the trees, the world quiet and still, i allow myself to forget it's overrun by the dead just for a moment. most of the time though you'll find me with my best friend, beth greene. the two of us are practically attached at the hip, we run and sing and laugh; our carefree energy bringing smiles even to the most solemn of our bunch.

while they hate to admit it (especially shane), i'm an integral support for the group. cool under pressure yet particularly aggressive in a fight, i've got your back no matter what the world throws at us. got shot? i can pack a wound. thirsty? i'll go filter some creek water. need a laugh or a cry? come sit at the fire beside me. one way or another we will beat this cruel, cruel world-- and i'll make sure we have enough protein bars to do it (peanut butter flavored, obviously...)

VIKTOR KRUM-- the stoic and brooding up-and-coming quidditch star; boys want to be him, girls want to be with him (or the other way around). accidentally lock eyes with him and chances are he looks like he’s about to cast an unforgivable curse on you, but ask the school legilimens fred weasley what he’s really thinking about; he’ll tell you viktor is just thinking very carefully about what he wants to eat for lunch.

take it from his best friend since the start of school-- he may look intense but he’s got a heart of gold. viktor is thoughtful, caring, he's the type of guy who brings you coffee just the way you like it while you study in the library (no, he won’t join you in revision, but he’ll distract you from your upcoming test).

when he’s not in quidditch practice or fantasizing about his next meal, you can find him taking a nap under his favorite tree whilst i read beside him. comfortable silence is our platonic love language, can you tell?

born STIORRA RAGNARSDOTTIR, a farmer's daughter blessed with sight by the goddess frigg herself. the youngest child of the famous shield maiden lagertha and ragnar lothbrok, son of odin. she hails from a small fishing hamlet near kattegat, raised alongside her sibings gyda and björn. stiorra: the always happy, always laughing prophet, whose eyes glimmer with ancient wisdom as she dances the dance of destiny across ice and snow, singing the song of fate for those who listen.

a short lived life, for she soon became the princess STIORRA EVENSTAR of kattegat; named so by her people, because like the stars themselves, she remains steadfast and bright, shining light upon the kingdom. her family fragmented, her sister lost, she lives with a hazy destiny-- to either be queen of the north or another of the forever forgotten lothbrok daughters. she cannot begin to guess at the what the gods will for her, cursed to have her own fate weaved in tragic mystery beneath the world tree whilst she gazes upon everyone else's freely.

the wand of a triwizard champion ⟢

every durmstrang student buys their first wand from wands by gregorovitch. he does everything with intention, nothing is forgotten or done by mistake. the wood is sourced from the most magical of forests where the trees whisper and dance. the cores come from distant lands, some wands contain one of the three traditional cores, but the majority are one-of-a-kind, coming from gregorovitch's travels to the edges of the earth. each wand is designed with a story in mind. the wand may choose the wizard, but gregorovitch chooses the path of both.

the real first task of the triwizard tournament is the wand weighing ceremony. after a professional analysis on the wand and a daily prophet article of what it may say of the champions, many students and even teachers place bets on the tournament's outcome. here's what the famed garrick ollivander has to say about my wand:

this wand is truly something to behold; a beautifully pale wood from an ancient weeping willow, complimented by a handle made of starlight soaked gems, tied together with ornate golden embellishments and scattered runes. this wand is on the shorter end of average length, 10 1/4 inches. pleasantly springy, which seems to be a common theme for our champions this year. the wand's core is of hippogriff feather.

the willow wood suggests there's great potential in stiorra. willow wands often choose witches or wizards with an aptitude for healing. wielders of willow wands often possess a great insecurity, though as this wand comes from a weeping willow it suggests the witch is prone to melancholic bouts. she seems to remain hopeful nonetheless.

hippogriff feather is an uncommon core; it can be temperamental to work with, and disastrous if put in the hands of the wrong witch or wizard. the wielder of a hippogriff wand is proud, their respect is earned and should not be expected immediately. when their ego is wounded, the wielder may become aggressive. they possess powerful magic, often excelling in combative magic.

the wand's runes are not professional work. it seems stiorra has carved them in herself. i know a great deal of runes, carving them on some of my own wands myself, but these runes are indecipherable even to an expert on the matter. they are ancient and beyond the scope of current rune dictionaries; their meanings understood only by the owner herself who possesses a unique lingual gift.

in short, it seems stiorra lefaye is a triwizard champion to watch.
