we had a sysfriend we were really close with for like all of 2020/21 and then we stopped using discord for a bit so we only texted them and then in late 2022 we got back on discord and saw they were “mixed origin [traumagenic + endogenic]” and i tried to get over it for a little bit but just listening to them talk about it… shudder

For clarification on the “appropriation” and demedicalization of Dissociative disorders, it’s appropriation because you’re claiming your experiences are the same, when they’re not. For the demedicalization, it’s because you

A) take medical terms for your non medical experiences and use them for yourself

B) spread hateful and violent ableist misinformation and propaganda that groom people into thinking that their trauma “wasn’t bad enough” to cause a CDD which means they must be endo

C) cause psychiatric professionals to doubt the validity of real systems’ experiences, which further the hate and prejudice against people with CDDs

So yeah, you’re demedicalizing. And honestly, I wouldn’t be as anti endo as I am if yall had your own spaces, own terms, didn’t steal and invade our spaces/terms/tags, and didn’t claim to be “the same”. Oh and don’t get me started on the westernization and appropriation of tulpamancy.

I swear if I see an anti-endo say endogenic systems are claiming a trauma disorder when they're not, I'm going to scream. Like, yes, some endogenic systems do, but that's because they also have trauma?? Nobody is claiming you can have a trauma-based disorder without trauma, they're claiming plurality without a disorder.

I'll always say this:

Every disorder has a non-disordered counterpart. If it doesn't cause distress or affect at least one major area in functioning, it's not a disorder. This includes stuff like DID. Plurality is not a disorder, but DID is.
