urgh not to feed into the whole demonization stuff but postal dude from the POSTAL game franchise is plural coded (and i am allowed to say this having DID.. bc i get so mad when singlets say he has "split/multiple personality disorder" (also bc its the outdated name) but when i see someone who is a system say he is im likd. YES (also most of the time those people who claim MPD on him are doing it to demonize the disorder and add nothing else.. like no nuance or whatever at all or deep discussion) GOING TO RAMBLE SORRY (should also probably content warn. postal is a pretty violent/graphic/dark humor franchise so theres gonna be bringing up of violence and guns, and also some semi disturbing imagery?? mostly it just being eerie, demon visuals, and scopophobia).. oh also religion trauma talk ALSO SPOILERS FOR POSTAL 1997 (?) so, in POSTAL 1 (1997), theres this whole thing where, if you look at postal dude's voicelines from Rick Hunter, iirc (my memory is a bit rusty) theyre labeled with "demon", and his death/pain sounds are voiced by Vince Desi and arent labelled as such. its also heavily implied that postal dude is TERRIFIED and scared, but then his voicelines are him making snide and mocking remarks. it has been implied that he may be "possessed by a demon" but also that he has multiple mental conditions.

now, in POSTAL: Brain Damaged, this becomes extremely obvious. we are now more into the future, and Dude has to fight against other dude inside his own head. Other dude is the "demon" from postal 1997.

(other dude on the left, postal dude on the right.) other dude's speech at the final cutscene, he specifically talks about how they are basically one in the same, while he also cannot be killed or defeated. (and um. after this he gets shot in the head by postal dude, and "dies" but ill get to that.) (i know alter death isnt real, but us, along with other systems weve seen, have said that in headspace , an alter for example may look like they are dead or something happened to them, but that didnt actually kill them and they arent dead. it has been said this is usually a stress thing, or a coping mechanism. we have done stuff like this before.) so i dont believe other dude is dead. I think Other dude is a mislead persecutor who is fully convinced he is a demon, on top of Postal dude thinking the same about other dude. A big thing that happens with many systems because of trauma, especially religious trauma, is thinking they are possessed (and sometimes even those around the system also calling them possessed,) and because postal dude never got the help they needed, they have some, what i like to call, internalized demonization. the first case we ever see the postal dude is in 1997 (which is also the year the game takes place in and not just the games date), and to my math, postal dude is canonically 53-54 this current year. of course he wouldnt have gotten help, especially how under researched CDDs are still to this day! and i do think they have religious trauma, i mean, the entire thing for postal 1997 is dude thinking he is cleansing the earth for god or something. POSTAL 1997 has "diary entries" (which turn into "war journal" after a bit) and they all have very obvious religious ramblings. so, my conclusion, postal dude has DID or OSDD-1A, heavy internalized demonization, religious trauma, and is system coded. i rest my case. also... just look at this image bro tell me he isnt plural,,

TLK: Perfectly Valued: The Thornbush Pride 

Let me present you...Dalili's Pride (the lion characters minus Darius and Nia)

The top 3 are all old lioness that carry the mark of The Thornbush Pride, that is the stripe on their heads, that represent a thorn. These are the 3 lioness left of the lineage, since most of the pride left when Zira did (and part of them became The Outsiders). They are not related to each other btw, just the mark shows where they are from.

Kulinda: This lioness was made in honor of my late teacher that died last year (if you saw the post i made about it, i dont want to share the details again). She is verse in understanding old paintings without the need of a mjuzi staff, and she is the one who teaches Dalili what the paintings on her den mean. Kulinda sometimes regrets it.

Sikitiko: Named by her own mother, her missing tail was actually her mother's doing as well. She wanted to leave the pride originally when Zira did, since she never liked Mkuu and Mtemi, but she couldn't leave Ukingoni behind (Sikitiko has feelings for her). But her daughter (this lioness of the right from The Lion Guard) did.

Ukingoni: She used to be the main hunter in the pride and, when Tanglemane was leader, she actually supported Ayubu's (Stranger lion) ideas of making him leader. She obviously realised how wrong he was but very late. Her missing eye (yes the whole gouged out eye) is Dalili's doing when Ukingoni tried to disobey her. Since then, Ukingoni hasn't been the same.

The bottom 3 are the new additions, Amun (who we saw in Act 1) and his two sisters, all of them of tsavo lineage.

Amun: We will know more about of him during the comic, but he is very protective of his sisters. He is the oldest of the 3.

Layla: She, as well as Masika, are still pretty young (between 17-18 in human years, hence the youngling spots on her paws). She is very grumpy and suspicious of everyone, but would die defending her siblings. Has a semi-crescent moon mark on her right shoulder.

Masika: If Layla is grumpy, Masika is the "happy-go-lucky" type. Very extroverted, she usually tries to put a nice face for both of her siblings. That doesn't make her naive and she knows when to shut up when Dalili is close. She is a maned lioness and has a waterdrop mark on her right hind leg.

there's something so charming about hunter, but in a soothing way

it doesnt mean she cant be silly ofc, but her eyes reflect so much of her moods and personality

when she's with the eagle she looks calm and gentle and much of the expressions she makes are towards the eagle; when nimue gets the bird, when the godslayer stuns the eagle and got one of the flaps and at the end of the game when he corrupts the eagle completely there were always a close at her face to show us how worried hunter was towards her friend

it's as if the eagle highlights hunter in some way, cause if you think about it hunter is not really an important person; she's an outsider and a stranger, and eagle mother is there not only to push her forwards, but she also works like this excuse to develop what lies inside hunter - her feelings

the more i think about, like no human(oid) character in the pathless have a mouth, which is an interesting decision - may it be because the animator said "nuh uh i aint doing this" or because they had other intentions - having no mouth makes it harder to humanize a character cause to do so you work around facial expression mostly

for characters like the diver or the little guy from journey it works cause humanizing them is not the focus - they are vessels for the player to experience the message of the game, much like a blank page, but hunter is a more defined type of character, she's not only for the player to control; there are instance where she speaks for herself (literally), she reacts towards her environment (like when she groans when she hits the ground), it's a bit of "i exist in relation to others" kind of thing i dont even know if this explanations make sense

the thing is, if you gonna hide the mouth (and it's funny cause they got rid of the mouths but not of the speech), to deliver something believable you have to put extra attention in other places, like eyes (which is probably the reason why they made her eyes big, for emphasis) and corporal expression (i love all of hunter animations like ALL of them, the idles are so cool and my favorite has to be the climbing one HAVE YOU SEEN THAT CREATURE)

another aspect that locks my eyes on hunter is her color palette; she feels a bit like 60% red and 40% black which an almost dangerous distribution cause it gets near the boring looking too evenly palette, but i feel like this problem is partially solved by the color choice cause black and red is very iconic (but i see that this can be subjective, so take it with a grain of salt)

to give some examples: im typing from an nitro acer (black red palette), you can see cars with that bright red (+black of the tires), and i can name a few characters with red+black combination, like matoi ryuko from kill la kill, kaguya, that masochist from that cassino games school (she's iconic i will recognize but i wont lose my time googling it i dont wanna know details about that anime)

(also if i had to point a match for hunter from another media....... kikyo my beloved i fucking love you my gay awakening i kept watching inuyasha cause i wanted to see you on my screen omg)

but at the same time her color scheme puzzles me: what does it mean? usually color is used for storytelling or readability purposes

hunter red black contrasts very well against the greens/whites/oranges of the landscape, mostly bc it's highly saturated; but then you get to the boss fight and......

i know that the boss fights dont take as many screen time as exploration but considering that they are the action moment hmm idk the math aint mathing here

well what's about storytelling? a bit of the same problem shown on the above image; hunter shares the color scheme with the corrupted tall ones and godslayer which makes things even more confusing

(seriously am i stupid and didnt see the obvious hint everyone else saw and im just here staring at the walls idk)

that said i have come up with my own worms to explain this and it comes down to: it's not from the land/natural

godslayer and the corrupted tall ones shouldnt exist, they are not natural to this world and actually an evil twist of the reality; hunter not necessarily is corrupted, but is also not natural (from the island), she's an outsider, it's about this feeling of not-belonging

however in the end of the day the color choice is also about readability and keeping things cohesive; stretching the color palette of the entire game just to give hunter a different look would do more damage than helping, imagine changing to something not that far like a pink or yellow, things still would change drastically

the streamer au LMFAO (putting this under a cut bc it got. INSANELY long omfg)

normally i dont rlly like human aus (they’re just not my thing) but this stupid au wormed it’s way into my heart and now i cherish it lmfao. there’s no real set plot, there’s just Situations these lil guys get into. some are soft and adorable (ie. pebbles’ first kiss with sig) or hilarious (sig’s ridiculous amount of flirting with his own chat) or just fuckin stupid (their halloween stream where they do a whole production where chat has to figure out who “killed” sig and it’s just chaos). tbh ive found myself accidentally focusing on the ragequit aspect of the au despite the entire polycule being a thing (lilypad, sunstone, traffic light, ragequit, and hurricane all happen)

i think the Main Things that sum up the au are:

Sig punched Pebbles’ transphobic (now ex) boyfriend in the face and spent a night in jail bc of it LMFAO

Pebbles and Suns meet after Sig drags Pebbles to a party at the college he attends (and Sig attended for a single semester before the whole streamer thing took off). Suns went to catholic school and is incredibly repressed and hesitant with Pebbles and Sig ends up having to instigate a lot of shit to prevent them from just fuckin. never going past hand holding.

Speaking of, Pebbs is an art major and drew all of Sig’s custom emotes. He also loves drawing everyone in the apartment, though usually keeps those drawings hidden from everyone in his sketchbooks

Wind and Sig being childhood best friends who are each others ride or die, they were each others first like, everything. The funniest one being where Wind is having a crisis bc he thinks he might be gay and Sig is just like “hm well I’m kinda a guy maybe kiss me and see if you like it?” And well. Wind has been kissing this fool for 7 years now and does not plan on stopping.

Moon is usually a moderator but does make appearances occasionally and chat loves her. Suns will not go on camera without a face mask. Pebbles was originally camerashy but ends up being in pretty much every stream after a while.

Sig refuses to tell chat his gender and thinks it’s funny watching everyone guess. If you ask/ask for pronouns he just replies with “whatever’s funniest” or “whatever makes this gay”, or if someone’s being rude about it, “whatever pisses you off most”

Sig is like. Insanely good at FPS games and holds multiple top rankings in competitive esports. Yui (Unparalleled Innocence) is one of her main rivals. It’s cute tho. They’re like. rivals who kiss.

Pebbles is Moon’s adopted brother, and has some pretty bad weakness in his hands/legs bc he had cancer as a child. They all support him a lot (Pebbles is rlly stubborn about “being okay”) and Sig does a lot of charity streams for things like forgiving medical debt and cancer research. Sig and Moon bought a huge thing of stickers to help decorate Pebbles’ crutches so he’d like them more.

Pebbles’ name is Pebbles because Moon came up with it as a nickname when they were kids, and when Pebbles came out he chose that as his name. Moon cried about it. Also I just like the whole “transmasc w a silly name” thing bc I feel like it fits him.

Sig helps Pebbles dye his hair (emo mf) but requires that if he helps she gets to put streaks of color in his bangs. It’s usually pink but sometimes she chooses a different color. Sig has the underside of his hair dyed purple. Pebbles’ natural hair color is a pretty light brown.

They all have their cats ofc!! Messenger, Hunter, Arti, and Ruffles!! They were all either strays they found or adopted from a shelter.

Can you share some of fav character headcanons ?

oh good heavens. headcanons are thoughts right? i dont usually have those, and its hard for me to recall like.. the slice of life stuff. i have a lot of scattered thoughts and feelings but i dont usually tend to a concrete canon so theyre not really headcanons in the traditional sense. im also uncomfortable saying fav headcanons because i feel like i can only favorite someone elses work and not my own (i dont want to be… egotistical). ill detail some of my loose thoughts i like to entertain below though im not sure if this is exactly right

im a big fan of artificer just being plain out mean and really sucking. shes wily and quick tempered, a real firecracker, all over the place, grungey. ive been meaning to draw anthro designs and shes just an unkempt ratty sort of mess of a person. hunter is not at all like her, its very level headed, aloof, put together- it has its missions and motives and a strong sense of justice. in my mind, they used to travel together and resonated very well, artificer wants to help on behalf of pebbles on the journey to moon and theyre both just boisterous enough to interact pretty well, but they split up dramatically when artificer demands hunter abandon pups (survivor and monk) so that she wont have to see them die and feel responsible for it and have been enemies since. i really like plural inv, its been kicking around in my head and i need to iron it out. id personally use it as the reason to have all of the names, with inv/enot/sofanthiel/paincat/nightcat/??? all as distinct alters, and possibly generalized designs. but i can hardly develop how i want to interpret one character, much less 6 of them! so i just keep it on the back burner for now. and as detailed before, i really like meta narrative inv. oh one i think about a lot! with how cycles work, i think its that everyone experiences their own isolated line of quantum immortality, they dont literally respawn over and over again but that there are infinite parallel universes spiralling off from their origin and every "death" is noncanon, they consider the one where they live forever canon. they only respawn (zoop to the canon timeline) to themselves, when creatures that arent them die they die forever in that line (this is why artificers pups dont come back).

i think those are the only things i can remember i think about right now… i have really bad memory loss so if i had other headcanons then i forgot them. you could just ask me for my feelings on things and those usually lead to me thinking eventually!

my experience is violently and tangibly psychological. i can tell you how all of my phantom sensations started and when i started to consider myself alterhuman. there is a connection between my interests and my types that has slowly changed and shifted over the years. it's very stable at the moment and has been for years, but it is not a solid thing. my connection to being a gillman is probably one of the most stable I've ever had, but it's just a manifestation of a bunch of different symptoms I have. Gillman is just the name I put onto my alterhumanity because it describes it the best right now. In three years I may call myself something different. Not because I had some discovery about myself or thought I was wrong, but because my life experiences and the sensations I feel no longer line up with that of a gillman. Does that make sense?

To some degree, this has a lot to do with being a kid with a massive imagination. When I would play by myself (which was how I usually played for a couple reasons that don't matter), I was never a human. Because humans are boring, obviously. Dragons and werewolves are much cooler, so I was always one of those. Sometimes I was a fairy (a weather fairy, specifically, who would call upon massive hurricanes and tornadoes), and I can still really easily trigger a phantom shift to get those wings back. Although I usually dont. But most of the time I was a werewolf who was "stuck" as a human (because otherwise the werewolf hunters would kill me and eat me like a fine steak) (yes i am so serious they wanted to butcher and eat me). This was a very frequent game for me.

And, as I've spoken about before, the sea monster game was a massive hit. Played it in the pool while I was alone. Premise was that I was a mysterious ocean monster who got captured by fishermen and forced to live in an aquarium and i had to escape my prison. Pretending I had webbed hands and fins was a very important part of this game. Clearly. Look at me now.

Dragons, too, were very important to me, although this will come back a little later.

As I grew up and went to a new school and started becoming my own person, I was very quick to realize that I was Different. I had trouble making friends and connecting to people. I was actively seen as weird and just generally thought of as annoying. Now, to be fair, I think I was annoying. But 8 and 9 year olds don't know that they're annoying, they just know that their peers don't like them. And that shit hurts! People paid attention to me when I acted even weirder, so I took on this very animal-esk approach to my behavior. Vocalizations and teeth barring and the like. They still weren't my friends, but I wasn't alone. And I was playing into this very nonhuman mindset that I'd just enjoyed my whole life.

At one point, one of these little ploys was that I could talk to aliens. I did this for years, I think I almost convinced myself that it was real. I desperately wanted them to be real and to go with them, because I thought I would fit in better with them. I still do, to this day. This feeling of very literal alienation is still with me. Eventually it lost it's spark with people, and so I stopped talking about it. But it stuck with me. This is where the idea that I was an alien who got in a human skin but had amnesia and forgot they were an alien but still function with an aliens brain started to really resonate with me.

Ok, as a quick summary so far: Child me liked to play pretend that I wasn't human. I started relying on it as a way to interact with people because it was more natural to me. The most important of these games so far have been werewolf and dragon (long lasting), fairy and fish monster (phantom limbs), and alien (as a result of feeling othered).

Moving into upper elementary and middle school, roughly 11-13, I really became attached to the idea that I wasn't human. I spent a lot of time day dreaming about turning into something else. The reaction of everyone was simply "ah, that's why you were like that. You weren't human after all." I didn't want to run away and escape, per se, I just didn't feel that the standards that others were being held to were even applicable to me, and being a monster (usually a dragon or gryphon) just made sense to me. I'd feel the wings and claws beneath my skin, trying to push out. I was begging them to emerge. I wanted so badly to be perceived as something other than human, so that everyone would know and understand that the things I struggled with (socialization, primarily) were inherent to me. Try as I might, these just weren't skills that were improving for me.

This is when I just fully started to consider myself not human. It was simple, it was easy. It made sense. It was comforting! And at this point I didn't know anything about alterhumanity or therianthropy or otherkin identities. But what I did know was that I felt othered and alienated, I felt people treated me as if I wasn't fully human to them. And so it was easy for me to lean into this, and to fall back on all the ways I would believe I was nonhuman.

I found out about therians in 2015, maybe. I had an online friend who was a domestic dog (maybe a german shepherd) and a hawk or eagle therian. She spoke about her dreams and phantom sensations a lot. And part of it resonated with me, but her explanation of it was very spiritual and that just wasn't what was going on with in my mind. The reasons I didn't feel human were because of how I'd been treated, not some spiritual belief I had. Anyway, I considered myself some sort of offshoot of therian.

I can't remember specifically how I learned about otherkin, I think it was a youtube video. But I watched it and something clicked? Not fully, but the realization that I could do something with these feelings I had was there. Did a little digging, not much, but within six or seven months of discovering therians, I started to quietly consider myself a dragon otherkin. At this time, I was obsessed with them. I drew them constantly, I read about them. I loved dragons. And I wanted to be one. I wanted my wings and to romp around in a reptilian way. I wanted horns so badly it drove me mad. And I collected things. I had a hoard! And this was just quiet, in the back of my head. I was 13 or 14 at the time.

another summary: the way I was treated by others made me feel like I wasn't human, and I leaned in on it to help cope with the reality that others didn't really like me. after a bit of exposure to otherkin and therians, I decided to call myself a dragon otherkin.

At 13 I started this project. I will not go into detail with it, but what's important is that it revolves around fish aliens. I grew very invested in this project. It became a massive outlet for me, more than dragons had ever been. I morphed their world into one that I would want to be in, their bodies were how I wished to be. I thought about them so much that for a long time I couldn't picture humans in my mind, just fish aliens.

And by existing in this headspace so much, by imagining what they're like and how they act, part of my brain became convinced that I was one. This really takes it's shape around 2018-2019, and I sort of forget about the dragon otherkin identity I had. It wasn't useful to me anymore, I had gone fish mode (lol).

I was still treated like shit. Highschool is rough! I still felt alienated and othered, and I took comfort in being a fish alien. It was nice. I never felt human and I had cultivated a ecosystem in my mind that really made me feel like I was something else. And besides, those webbed hands and fins I'd had since I was real young? They were still around, so I just let them be. I encouraged their presence and enjoyed it.

I actively thought of myself as a fish humanoid otherkin starting in 2021. I didn't kin my fish aliens. I'd totally become one given the chance and I prefer their world, but when taking into consideration my phantom limbs + general mentality? It maps on more to a general fish humanoid.

Come fall 2023, and I'm in a rough spot. College is a lot and the social situations I was in were taking a toll on me, my phantom limbs and mental shifts were horrible. so I made my tumblr and here I am. about 10 months later!

To make a long story short, my alterhumanity is derived directly from the way people actively treat me in my everyday life. It's impacted by what I'm hyperfixated on and which phantom limbs I encourage and pay the most attention to. My dragonkin identity and my gillmankin identity are the exact same. They come from the same experience and the same feelings. The only thing that changed was the language I wanted to use to talk about them.

Of course, I still consider my gillman identity very real and accurate. Dragonkin wouldn't fit me now. People treat me less like some scary thing (like they did in middle school) and more like some uncanny thing that is trying to fit in. If they started treating me differently, then my kintype would probably change to reflect it.

This is probably a good explanation as to why I flip between copingling and otherkin. Because everything that makes me feel nonhuman will always be there- it is inherent to me as a person! I will always be treated a little differently, and I can't do that much about it. I'll always have these emotions.

But I choose to name them. I choose to engage and actively encourage the mindset that I am a gillman. I bundle all of these alterhuman emotions and tie them up under one name. It helps me manage them and keep them from getting in the way. If I'm able to accept that I'm a gillman and people will treat me as such, then I'm able to focus on more important things. I don't have to worry about people thinking I'm weird. I'm obviously a gillman, they're going to think I'm weird. No need to be socially awkward about that fact. I'm able to engage in my hobbies more easily when I'm OK with being excluded and not understood. Hell, I'm able to interact with more people! I approach them as a gillman, they treat me as such. I know the expectations, and I'm not worried about them. I can make more friends! It's a strange round-about way of accepting myself and i love it.

It's not cool that I need it to cope, I don't enjoy feeling the way I do, but I do enjoy phantom limbs and mental shifts. I love romping around and being a Beastie! It's freeing. I can engage with the urges that always set me apart in a way that turns them into something positive. I think it's awesome and I'm very thankful for the community and the folks here.

I think that is all I will write for now. It is a lot, but I could still talk more about it. My desire to eat raw fish, my issues regarding my teeth, why I am drawn towards swamps. It's 100 different things that I all tie together under one name.

Rain World was my hyperfixation at the start of last year, it’s built around the idea of Saṃsāra and Nirvana, I made the connection between LMK n RW thru the “oh hey, same social circle of religions!”, the slugcats and their titles fit the three main monkey siblings (SWK being an actual monk + vegetarianism cuz of the monking; one of Ma’s themes as a character is surviving like a roach + both her and Survivor lose parents as kids and have to fend for themselves + become strong and kinda ruthless because of their time alone; Six Ear making it an Actual Point to eat more meat than veggies just to spite religions n SWK + excessive killing + fucked karma situation/being revived after dying just like Hunter) n so I went FUCK YEA cuz I’mma slut for parallels

But when it comes to actual research on these kinds of things: the only consistent sources I have is Wikipedia and/or Quora (the most reliant information you’ll Ever get is from the people of the actual culture). otherwise I tend to jump around multiple sites, perhaps my two books of mythology and then cross-reference everything I’ve learned to filter out what I’m CERTAIN is a real thing and what isn’t. General knowledge of the language and culture itself also helps. Look up what certain characters mean more abroadly cuz gtranslate won’t give you the Whole context n check for the context not being explained in too simple western terms. A site that isn’t common enough in my research sprees to call it “consistent” but shows up a lot anyway is journeytothewestresearch. Slitherwings - very poisonous dragons! Even their skin is coated in poison. Like snake appearance. Not much is known about its poison and how it works but there is an antidote -> combination of angel fern root, pine sap and Slitherwing venom. The skin coating protects them from Garff's amber

I’m back hi hello!! I am going to attempt to put this all under a read more so i dont blow up somebody’s dashboard

This AU is set (mostly) within these two large neighboring kingdoms that have been mostly indifferent to one another, but tensions have grown a lot between them in recent years. Mostly things like border disputes, but every once in a while bigger incidents happen—though their leaders are usually pretty good at smoothing things over enough to prevent all-out war.

Risen still exist in this AU, since it wouldn’t be Destiny without them. They do still have to die and be resurrected by a Ghost (losing their memories in the process), but instead of being machines the Ghosts are more like small fae creatures that take a “favorite” form. For example, my Hunter Zanne’s Ghost takes the form of a hummingbird, while another OC of mine has a hare!

The Guardian nation is governed by the Consensus, rather than a single ruler, with representatives from each major faction (such as New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and even the Iron Lords). Their primary goal, above all, is to protect the Traveler, the source of Light in the realm. Not every person in the kingdom is Risen, nor is every Risen a Guardian. The Warlords exist as well, but they are held to the Iron Lords’ standards, and are dealt with accordingly if they’re caught acting out of line.

The Awoken kingdom, naturally ruled by Queen Mara, follows a different belief system, as they are ever stretching skyward in an attempt to reach their former home in the heavens. As such, their cities tend to stand very tall when compared to those of the Kingdom of Light. The central city of the kingdom, Rheasilvia, is home to the palace of the queen and her royal knights, the Corsairs. Recruits train in the academy for most of their young adult lives to be granted the honor of being named a Corsair, and be given the privilege of riding their dragon in their Queen’s name. There are still a lot of citizens who do not have dragon partners, of course, but the riders are viewed in rather high esteem by those who are stuck on the ground. The Kingdom of Dusk do also have Risen of their own, though they do not associate with the Traveler or its Guardians, and go by the name of Lightborne instead.

The dragons that have entwined their lives with those of the Awoken call themselves the Ahamkara. Ahamkara are a regal and enigmatic species, and no two are alike. Any attempt to label them by subspecies has ultimately ended in failure as a result of that. Some Ahamkara are capable of shapeshifting, though they often find a favorite form and stick to that. They are known to be distantly related to a different, more powerful kind of dragon, known only as the Wyrm Gods. The Ahamkara that live amongst the Awoken turned away from following the great Wyrms, choosing instead to find their own paths. Many of the Wyrms did not take kindly to this abandonment and have trained their new followers’ sights on the Ahamkara and their allies.

When Mara and Uldren Sov were younger, their partner Ahamkara were a bonded pair of twins just like them. Uldren’s dragon Ager was killed in an accident long ago, which led in turn to Mara’s Rega dying soon after. Of grief, they told the people, but the royal family knew the truth. And while Uldren never chose a new partner, the Queen took up arms with another dragon from far away—an ancient Ahamkara named Riven. Riven helped to guide their kingdom to the prosperity that it enjoys today, though her motives aren’t always clear; she pays loyalty not only to the great Queen of the Awoken, but also to the mysterious King Auryx and the Witch Queen Sathona—each unbeknownst to the other, of course.

The Eliksni are mostly unchanged, besides the necessary “nobody goes to space” thing. Their bodies are build a little heavier, since they don’t have to worry about zero-gravity environments. Their homes were lost in the Whirlwind, and so now they travel the realm in clans looking for a new place to settle. They’re kind of like classical artificers, always repairing upgrading their vessels—air and sea ships, in this world. House Light is already living in the Kingdom of Light, but they aren’t in the central city!

I have taken more liberties with the Cabal. They are dragons, though rather than the large, lithe figures that most Ahamkara cut, the Uluran are wide-set, stocky, muscular creatures that carved out new homes anywhere they could sink their claws into after their homeland was razed by the Wyrmcult. While winged, their heavy build means they don’t tend to do much more than leaps and glides, as much of their original territory was mountainous. They absolutely do not take riders.

An Uluran’s battle prowess is measured by the number of scars in their thick hide, and their longevity by the length of their tusks. They still stand approximately the same height as their in-game counterparts, in comparison to a human. They paint their scales to denote their allegiances, such as Ghaul’s bloody crimson, Caiatl’s proud blue, or Calus’s lavish gold. The Shadow Legion in this case wears no paint at all.

The zealous new followers of the Wyrm Gods, the Wyrmcult (or the Hive) are an uplifted species from a realm entirely separate from the Kingdoms of Light and Dusk. Not satisfied with their dominion over the extraplanar, they now serve as the great Wyrms’ own swords in their efforts to conquer all the realms. While originally their kind were very insectoid in form, over the ages their devotion to the great Wyrms has molded them into something altogether new. Their three great leaders, King Auryx, Witch Sathona, and Blade Xi Ro are the best examples of this, each of them taking on varying degrees of draconic features.

Auryx, for example, has grown wide, intimidating horns and large scaled wings that cut a frightening figure for those caught in the blaze of his conquests. Sathona, too, is carried by two vast pairs of wings, though hers are much sleeker, and her horns much more regal, befitting of one who has learned the arcane arts of the Ahamkara. Xi Ro, the youngest of them, chose instead to toughen her hide and sharpen her claws, that she might break any blade turned against her, and shatter her foes in turn. Warfare is her craft, and battle her lifestyle.

Victims of Auryx’s sword-cuts across the realms, bathed in the scorching dragonfire stolen from his masters, follow in the wake of the Wyrmcult anywhere that they ravage. Their bodies have been seared black, trailing dark smoke wherever they go, while the stronger creatures among them still seethe with the flames that Took them. The color of those flames varies depending on which entity it was that did them in, with Auryx’s Taken carrying deep emerald green flames, while Sathona’s are more purple, and Xi Ro’s crimson. (The Witness’ Taken are bathed in white flame, entirely different from the dragonfire. If you look closely at it, it’s almost lowercase-p prismatic, showing in different colors on every angle.)

HELLO i only just realised this was in my inbox but i will very gladly talk abt my guardians hehe

i wont bring up All of them otherwise we'd be here all day but i have three hunters who have been stuck in my mind recently and will not leave, gonna put this under a readmore so i dont flood dashes too dsfgsd

scout-23 is one of them, he is the oldest n was around during the dark ages, which fucked him up a little. hes definitely not really been on the good side of guardians for most of his life, and especially after cayde died he took a real nosedive and went through his Getting Worse arc, but hes gettin better now with the power of friendship. hes a gunslinger/arcstrider, and definitely has the outgoing personality to match it, always likes to show off and be the best, that sorta thing. he really really cares for his pack, and hes kind of the unofficial leader alongside mint

cyclone is his ghost, and they are generally pretty tired of having to deal with a hunter for this long, and they would be quite happy with retirement. scout messes around a lot and dies a lot of stupid deaths, but he tries his best to make it up to cyclone by buying new shells or making little nests in the hunter dens for them

mint-5 is his kinda co-leader, just bc he is the certified dad of the pack and looks after everyone. he is literally a dilf him and his partners adopted an eliksni hatchling. but yeah anyway he was rezzed a little while after scout when the city was first being built, spent a bit on his own before meeting one of his partners, prose, and then eventually they joined up with scout n some other hunters to form the pack. he lives up to his name, on the outside hes pretty bitter, cold n quiet, but he cares so Much abt hims friends. he was also rezzed with a defect and his temperature regulation is all wack, so he has to be really careful with that, but it helps that he knows void to cool him down and prose knows solar to heat him up.

tealeaf is his ghost. she's kinda in between being serious and fun, usually the first one to be the voice of reason like her guardian, but shes a lot more upbeat about it than mint is. they get along pretty well

last is prose, mint's awoken partner, and he was rezzed a couple years after mint was. hes similar to scout, and theyre both really good friends despite fighting over stupid things occasionally. prose is very confident, and he rarely backs down from a fight unless hes dragged away from it, overall hes just very very emotional and shows it. mint and him didnt like each other at first because prose didnt trust him at all, but since they needed to work together they grew on each other, and ended up sticking together for the rest of their lives

lymeric is his ghost, and she's fairly similar to him. shes very peppy, always upbeat and talkative, but willing to give the same amount of fire in her words as prose if she has to. they also get along well, though they do occasionally have a bad habit of not listening to one another, which was especially prominent when prose was first brought back

You two meet at a bustling city (kind of like the one where tanjiro meets muzan). You’re there for business, him on a mission.

He wouldn’t notice that you look different at first—he’s too focused on trailing the demon following you, that he didn’t even realize how creepy he’d look to you

Would definitely be mistaken as a stalker or kidnapper by you

don't get me wrong!! he isn’t, but we all know babie is terrible at communicating uwu

Anyway

The whole night, he’d be trailing you, and to be quite honest, you’re getting really nervous from him following you

You tried losing him in a series of crowds and ducked behind an alleyway to hide. To your relief, he isn’t there when you take a precautionary look back

When you breath out a sigh, there’s a lone figure hidden in the shadows and for a moment you think it's your kidnapper

Oh how wrong you were.

“Look, can you stop following me? If you don’t, I’m reporting you to the police! You’ll regret i—“

“Regret what, missy?” The thing—it’s definitely not human—saunters closer, cornering you in between the walls before you’re hit with the foulest stench of rotten blood mixed with ash and acid when it breaths over your neck. “Having you as my late night meal? You look absolutely exquisite! Different, but… you would probably taste divine with having some foreign blood.”

All you can do is whimper silently as this thing drags a sharp fingernail over the delicate skin of your neck, its finger wrapping around a tad too tight

“Ah, what a delicacy!” It giggles. “Rather than regret, I think I’ll quite enjoy having you as my late. Night. Snack.”

With how frozen your body was, you couldn’t even shut your eyes as the thing moved to bite your flesh off, but a flash of blue made your world crawl in slow motion as your kidnapper (now savior) kicks the thing an impressive distance away before moving to stand in front of you.

The man mutters a quiet “dont look” and you do as told, looking away as you hear the sound of sword slicing through flesh.

When you look back, he’s sheathing his sword and there was no trace of your assailant save for the faint trace of ash and the clothes on the ground

“Are you alright?” He asks, turning to you. “I lost sight of you and that’s probably how it nearly got you. I’m sorry.”

“What just—what was I, who are you…that?” You stutter out, but he seems to understand what you’re asking.

“It was a demon, and I’m a demon hunter. It’s been targeting you and I was following it to take it down.” Normally, you’d call him a lunatic—because who in their right mind would believe in demons?—but the clothes on the floor, the ash in the air, and the thing, the demon that was about to kill you a few moments ago were proof enough.

“Oh. Oh, A… a demon—and a demon hunter. Was… was that why you were following me? Oh my god… I… I thought you were going to kidnap me!” You laugh, a touch too hysterically—the adrenaline was still pumping through your veins and it was making you feel loopy and lightheaded. “But no, I—I’m fine and It’s not your fault. Thank you. For saving me.”

You introduce yourself, and that’s when he really notices that you’re a foreigner because that’s the only time he was able to look at your face and your name sounds really… different. Pretty, but different.

“Are you a foreigner?” Ah, ever so blunt and straight to the point, our giyuu

“No!” You gasp, your tone light and joking, with a faint hint of sarcasm. He looked too cute not to tease. “What possibly gave it away? But jokes aside, yes, I am. I’m settling down here permanently for business.”

He nods a little embarassed, and you two stare at each other for a moment before looking away immediately because both of you think the other is too pretty. Giyuu thinks you’re the most beautiful girl he’s ever seen.

Anyway, he’ll escort you back to your temporary lodging (in fear of another demon, and in hopes to spend a little more time with you), and once you’re safe through the gates, you’ll offer to take him out to grab lunch the next day as a ‘thank you’ meal...maybe as a date—haha…just kidding!!… unless…?

Yeah, it was a date uwu

Now, you two would often take walks in the park after a date (or maybe the walk is already your date), and he would always, without fail, escort you back to your home like a gentleman

walks in the park is now one of your go-to for dates and taking you home after is now a habit

Moving on!!

You want to get to know him, and he wants to get to know you too, but he’s not very good with talking

So when initiating conversation, his questions are short, but are filled with genuine curiosity and you answer back in kind, with your own questions in hand.

Kind of like your own version of 20 questions

Would listen very intently when you talk about your home country, and makes sure he remembers every little thing

Also!! He loves your voice

He especially likes the way you say his name

There’s just that something about your accent that makes him feel all warm and fuzzy, and calmer than lull, his eleventh form—he could just listen to you all day

If you like to sing, he would fall in love all over again when he hears you sing in your language

He treasures the time he spends with you, and adores the time he catches you singing, may it be when you two are just spending time together, or you just doing your thing, babie is happy and filled with love and affection™

Sometimes when he has trouble falling asleep (which is often), just lay down with him and sing him a lullaby from your country and poof, he is out like a light.

The way you sing the words are just so nice and soothing and enchanting, and he loves it—loves you—so much, even if he can’t understand the words.

IN CONCLUSION: he wouldn’t notice that you look different at first (i mean lets face it, his coworkers’ physical features were much different compared to you) but once he does, I don’t think he’d care very much. He loves you for you, and if you’re someone who was born in a different country, it wouldn’t matter because he would still love you and protect you with all his heart.

He still thinks you’re the most beautiful girl he’s seen and to this day, he thinks that out of all the men you could have chosen, he is forever lucky that you fell in love with him. Regardless, he thanks the gods everyday that he has you by his side and does his best to make you feel loved and happy.

Sanemi Shinazugawa

You two would meet in a bakery

Sanemi just came from a mission around the city, and he’s looking for a treat when he enters a newly opened bakery. It seemed to be good, he’s seen a lot of people come in and leave with bags full of pastries.

Sanemi is slightly freaking out when they don’t have ohagi

“What do you mean you don’t have Ohagi? It’s a goddamn staple in bakeries!”

Even if his words have a bit of a bite to them, he surprisingly doesn’t make much of a scene, but his ohagi-less tirade is ended when you, the owner of the bakery come by to save your employee

“What’s Ohaki?” You ask, genuine curiosity coloring your voice and your accent.

Did you just?? mispronounce it and didn’t know what it was?? Sanemi is about to give you a piece of his ohagi-less mind, but he pauses, processing how pretty you were in a second before he blushes and lets out a frustrated grumble.

You thought he turned red because of anger, but really he was just flustered uwu

Of course, He would freak, but it’s not as bad as what the others would think. Though he would still proceed take up your time proclaiming the good news of ohagi

You didn’t seem to mind though, in fact you even look more and more interested as he goes on about how good it tastes

“That sounds really good actually,” You hum, trying to imagine how amazing the texture and flavor would go over with your tastebuds.

“Of course it’s fucking good.”

An idea pure as gold, strikes you as you energetically lean back forward and flash him a smile. “Then, you’d have to take me sometime to try it!”

Poor baby is too caught up with his love for ohagi that he immediately agrees and doesn’t even realize that this was a date

“Ha?! What’d you say, lady? Fine! Meet me here tomorrow and I’m taking you out to taste the best ohagi you will EVER have!”

You two meet up at the same time at the same bakery, your face flushed, and Sanemi none the wiser that this was in fact, a date.

He realizes though once he sees you arrive with your face flushed a little red and your clothes a little nicer than what he saw you wear the day before.

In my mind’s eye, he is a tsundere and he will always be a tsundere

So he blushes too, but hides it and says it's because he wants to eat the damn ohagi already!

You end up liking ohagi, and oop Sanemi ends up liking you

The bakery is pretty much your usual meet-up place

Asks about your culture and stuff and buys you some thoughtful gifts that would remind you of your home country, or cute local knick knacks that he thinks you might enjoy

But would definitely pretend that that wasn’t his intention

“Ugh, I accidentally got this, and I would never use something like this so. You have it. Fuckin’ throw it, burn it, use it or whatever, hell, I don’t really care.”

But he does, and you both know it.

Even if his reasoning barely makes any sense (c’mon, how can you accidentally buy something you know you won’t use??), you’re still really thankful when he hands you his “accidental” present for the day and you would show him this really pretty smile. Your eyes are glowing, and your hair is like a halo around your face and—

Sanemi thinks you look like an angel

Once, Sanemi said that you look really really pretty. He was embarrassed, but when he sees your blush darken and smile widen, he decides that it’s worth it and casually tells you every time you meet

When he sees you using his gift, he’d try so hard to hide the wide smile on his face

You get him some stuff too, some little trinkets that remind you of him. Sometimes if you come across ohagi in your many travels, you’ll buy him every flavor and taste it with him once you two meet up.

Down the line, you’d also consider adding Traditional Confectioneries to your menu and bring him in to critique them.

“So? How does that one taste?” A bead of sweat trails down your temple, as you anxiously waited for his feedback. You breathe out a sigh of relief though when his eyes open and his head bobs in affirmation.

“Eh. Texture-wise you nearly got the hang of it. Taste wise? A little too sweet.”

You nod and rush to make some corrections into your little notebook of recipes and make a new batch for him to try. You knew you were close, and damn it all if you weren’t going to perfect this today.

“How about now?” You push him a tray of the new batch, hoping that this would be it.

“Not bad.” Is all he says, and in the Sanemi language you’ve gotten used to these past few months, that means that it was one of the best things he’s ever tasted, and would be the highest form of praise you were ever going to get from him.

You show him a smile that makes his heart beat faster, and move to grab your notebook to write down the final recipe.

Needless to say, the customers—foreign and local alike—love the traditional sweets. Particularly the ohagi—they say it’s the best they’ve ever tasted. You had Sanemi’s high taste to thank for that uwu

He likes to pretend that he’s not soft for you.

But once you two have been together for a while, he’d show you more of his vulnerable side

Sometimes, he’d even braid or play with your unique and pretty hair, just like how he used to do with his younger siblings.

When you cook your favorite dish back in your homeland, he gets pretty addicted to it too (a pretty high bar if you ask me). It is now his second favorite food, and he learns to make it so he could surprise you!!

And while Ohagi may be Sanemi’s number one, when you’re around, you take first place.

Tengen Uzui

He’d be very flamboyant about it

I don't think there any other way for him to approach it really

But i think he’d be taken with you once he sees you

He sees you in the city and doesn’t hesitate to walk up to you and strike a conversation

He immediately notices that you’re not from around here from your looks and your accent just pretty much confirmed it 

You’re just very flamboyant—we’re not just talking about physical appearances here, but there’s just something different about you and the way you carry yourself, that just catches his eye and attention 

But he thinks it just adds your charm and would be very sweet about it!!!

He was so caught up in talking to you that you two don't notice the time pass and now its night

Even if he should really be getting ready to patrol for demons, he offers to take you back home but you decline

“Hey, it's getting late and it’s dangerous to walk alone at night. I can walk you home if you’d like.” Tengen says as he looks at you after noticing how dark it’s gotten.

“Oh, I appreciate the offer, but it’s alright!” You say, touched that he’s worried after meeting you so soon. “It’s just nearby, really and I can handle myself, don’t worry.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, i’ll be fine. Thank you for worrying though.” Tengen stays quiet for a moment until he looks back up to you and speaks. “How about…we meet each other tomorrow? Tomorrow, same time, same place—Just so I know you got home safe.”

You giggle, a little flustered as a light blush dusts your cheeks. “Oh, so like a date?”

“Yeah, like a date.” He flashes you a handsome smile that makes you feel giddy down to your toes.

“Okay. I’ll see you then.”

A few moments after you leave, Tengen’s jaunty walk down the park is interrupted when his crow swoops down to his shoulder and cries out in distress

“Demon is close by! Targets young girls walking alone!”

A chill runs down his spine. His head is running through all the horrible scenarios of you dead on the ground as he runs after the direction you left, hoping that you’re okay and you’re not a target.

He arrives just in time to see you brace yourself from the demon. His blade runs through the neck and he rushes to help you up from the floor after making sure the demon is dead

“Are you hurt? Gods, I’m so sorry, I didn’t know there was a demon around.”

“Oh, so that was a demon?” You seem fine, but Tengen could feel the guilt gnawing at him. For a moment, he forgot that demons existed and was able to forget how dangerous his job was. The least he could do was let you know.

“Yes, it was a demon and I’m a demon hunter. It’s my job to kill demons that hurt innocent humans.” He looks at the ground, but his train of thought is interrupted when he feels a hand on his arm. 

“Hey, look at me. I’m fine, you were just in time.”

“...I’m walking you home.” You don’t argue this time, choosing to thank him and hide your shaking hands. He notices though, and gently grabs one, letting you to lead the way.

You arrive home safe and in one piece when one of you speaks up again

“Hey, about tomorrow, it’s alright if you don’t want to go anymore. I understan—“

“Hush. I’m going, and no demon can stop me.”

“Okay.” The two of you smile at each other, and Tengen feels the warmth from your hand seep into his skin.

When you’re almost through your door, you turn around with determination in your eyes, and ask him to lean down a little.

You still have to go on your tiptoes to reach him, but the look of confusion on his face melts into surprise as you press a chaste kiss on his cheek.

“I um… I’ll see you tomorrow?” A bright blush coats your cheeks as you look up at him from your eyelashes.

“Yeah.”

“Okay, take care.”

“You too. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Tengen notes that your face was burning as you nod and rush to your opened door, throwing him a wave before you shut the door.

As you two date, he’d ask you a lot of questions, ask you for stories, and even asks you to teach him some stuff from your country—cooking, traditions… how one goes about courting, the whole shebang

You find it flamboyant of him that he wants to know you more

You tell him as such and he laughs when he realizes that he’s rubbing off on you

He’s also very protective of you (and his wives uwu)

Don’t get me wrong, he respects you and doesn’t think you’re helpless, but he worries, especially after what happened in your first meeting

If he hasn’t convinced you to live with him (and his wives uwu) yet, he would deck your house out in wisteria charms to ward off them demons.

He’d also tell you to carry a wisteria charm at all times, especially if he’s not around

If he already has his three lovely wives, they would immediately love you and you four would sometimes play dress up. They’d hand you some of their kimonos and you’d give them some of your dresses and you all have fun—Suma, Makio, and Hinatsuru would also love playing with your hair and makeup!! Tengen would join in too at times~

If tengen is still single when he meets you, then only the two of you would be the one doing dress up (you cannot convince me that tengen would not play with your hair or makeup)

you’d look very flamboyant either way though and even without the makeup or the fancy dress, Tengen would still find you flamboyantly gorgeous

(Again) if he’s already married with his three wives, he would love seeing the three of you bond with each other

(You and his wives love each other too, so you five are just one big lump of happiness and affection)

Like aaaa his heart feels full when he sees all the women he loves in his life getting along and caring for each other!!

He treats you all equally and showers all of you with his love and attention

Tengen will forever be glad that he met you, and got to you before the demon could, because you added so much love and happiness into his life

The Last Olympian Thoughts

So because I have absolutely 0 self-control or restraint when it comes to this series and its characters, and for The Last Olympian in particular, I could not put TLO down. Because of this I figured I couldn’t do the usual photo reaction posts I have been so far, because the spam would just be ridiculous, so I am stealing the idea from @yourstrulytaaay​ to do a masterpost instead. (Adding a Read More cause this got ridiculously long)

Fun fact, TLO came out right after i finished reading the series for the first time so it's the first PJO book i bought  and my only hard cover one for the og series. I checked the year and turns out it was published 2009, which means i was actually 9 when i read the series for the first time. I realize this is not really a fun fact but i thought i was older when I first read the series so it's blowing my mind a little ‘cause now I’m 21 and everything hits different and i still have so much love for this series and the characters Okay onto book thoughts: - i was right that this book is gonna destroy me, the first line alone made me so excited and nostalgic it's ridiculous - I love Rachel and Percy sm tbh. Her being a bit of peace and normalcy in his life without always reminding Percy of who and what he is is so good for him. Just a little escape

- of course by the end of the book that's not the case any more but by the end he's lived his prophecy so he doesn't need it as badly, plus he and Annabeth are solid again - Percy saying Annabeth has been hard to be around lately... Ouch my heart. Luke really is the last thing that keeps them from being together and Percy is so jealous and Annabeth so torn and in pain, i feel so bad for them both

- Beckendorf 🥺🥺 - the telkhine with the Lil Demon lunchbox!! I forgot about him. Percy: 'i left him alive, partly because his lunchbox was cool' is one of my absolute favourite lines tbh - Paul taking Percy crabbing and being imperative in helping Percy kill the giant crab 💖 Paul Blofis is important and deserves the world, okay? - aw Percy, you can't save every demigod bb

- 'i had to fight him eventually. Why not now?... What difference would a week make?' Oh Percy you have no idea - real talk tho, the fact Kronos possessed Luke's body would also mess me tf up. Percy keeps forgetting it's not Luke anymore and yeah, that would be so so hard and confusing af, like what another smart little mind game for Kronos to pull on top of everything else - the fact Percy fights Kronos before getting the Achilles Curse and actually doesn't die within seconds is... Astounding. He kicks him in the chest! And yeah Kronos is weaker and still adjusting to Luke's body, but Percy is having trouble fighting Luke cause they used to be friends - Percy breaks Kronos' time magic!! Like?! Boy is POWERFUL.

- OUCH - honestly Luke, Thalia and Annabeth's family breaking the way it did... Don't talk to me. Poor Annabeth, Luke betrayed them, Thalia joined the Hunters because of Luke's betrayal so she's pretty much AWOL all the time and then Luke dies. Like Rick wtf, my heart can't take it? -Percy and Tyson having each others backs when talking to Poseidon in the underwater palace is the brother-brother relationship we love to see - Percy trying to stick a sand dollar in the vending machines at school 🤦🏻‍♀🤦🏻‍♀ - the whole underwater interaction at Poseidon's palace? Perfection. Awkward family drama and all - Connor falling out of the tree when he sees Percy because he's so excited 😂😂

- k, ik Clarisse isn't perfect but tbh if i was a child of Ares whose father was disrespected and hated by my fellow campers (ares deserves it but still) and that disrespect trickled down to how the other campers treated ME (which if Percy is reliable here, it obviously does) then i would also be irritated at being used for muscle and nothing else? And just expected to fight with the people who act as if they'd rather not have Ares kids around the rest of the time. Like Clarisse isn't totally wrong - Percy reading the prophecy, seeing he's meant to die and just being like 'i do not see it' and refusing to outright think about it makes me so sad for him - (but it taints every action after and he's super reckless afterwards bc of it- including finally breaking and accepting the Achilles Curse) - (also him taking this as the last straw and finally beginning to show Annabeth how he really feels, cause fuck it, he's dying anyway) - Give me more info about Rachel's backstory and family Rick!! -  how did i forget Percy willingly eats chocolates that taste like cardboard because 'i didnt have anything against cardboard' like sir? - i love!! Percy's love for New York!! So much!! - Percy leaving to live in New Rome in HoO is a lie and this is all the proof i need for why - the fact the entire last half of the book is the battle and aftermath... Such great buildup and pacing. All the tricks and twists and battles in this War of Manhattan? I would not take out a thing, Rick, you legend - of course then the final battle in hoo with the gods is what? Two pages? Ugh, don’t talk to me about my hatred for BoO and HoO - 'no detours you two' is still the cutest thing!!! - THE HUNTERS!! Thalia i missed you - good job Percy, you finally spent your sand dollar - Minotaur!! - 'dont i get a kiss for luck? Its kind of a tradition right?' Percy finds out he's gonna die and is out of fucks to give and honestly I support him - also Michael just standing beside these two while they're flirting like umm 👀 👀 while a monster army marches towards them, nbd - Annabeth taking Ethan's knife meant for Percy!!! Cause she just knows his weak spot without him even telling her! They literally invented love - Feral Percy is so scary omg, i love how well Rick incorporates the Achilles Curse in this novel, with the whole heightened weaknesses and stuff ans the parallels to Achilles arrogance being what killed him and Percy's loyalty, fierceness and protective instinct being his own heightened weakness - the fact that Percy is the one who inadvertantly kills Michael Yew tho, I'll never recover from that - the fact Hades offers Maria di Angelo a golden palace by the Styx like how Poseidon offers Sally a palace under the sea tho. Let's talk about that parallel - the entire talk with Prometheus is so so good - not me picturing young Luke hiding in the closet to get away from his mom when she has an 'episode' -i love callbacks in stories and all of the callbacks to the rest of the series in this book make me very happy (medusa, minotaur, the underworld, Rainbow!! My baby!!, Daedalus and more) - Percy summoning a wholeass hurricane against Hyperion - the Party Ponies! They're so chaotic, i love it - Dionysus! 😁 I can't help it, i love him - Percy absolutely losing it when he sees Sally and Paul asleep in the car 🥺 - Rachel telling Percy he's not the hero screws with him so much :( poor bb - although i really really love how Rick wrote this, it's so refreshing to not have one chosen one save the world, but a combination of people - the drakon, Silena and Clarisse make me cry - the Patrochilles references, im not okay - Annabeth giving up on Luke after hearing what he did to Silena and Percy telling her that doesn't make him happy 😭 that whole interaction makes my heart ache - Percy giving Hestia Pandora's pithos 🥺 - and Hades, Nico and the others coming for a final attack is so badass, i love it - listen im glad the og trio were the ones to confront Luke on Olympus but the fact Thalia got so close and then pinned by a statue of HERA makes me so sad. Ik her and Luke were finished and she coped by cutting him off completely and giving up all hope but i would pay money to know what they would have said to each other to say goodbye - Ethan 🥺 - Poseidon joining the fight against Typhon is so cool, such a great scene - 'PEANUT BUTTER!' - Annabeth you brilliant badass you - RIP Luke, you werent great but you werent the worst either - the gods just rolling up seconds too late, wondering wtf happened in Olympus and who the dead body is - the chapter where the Olympians meet and give out rewards is one of my absolute favourites (again i am incensed we didn't get anything like this in HoO) - will Percy turning down immortality ever not make me scream in glee? No? Alright then - Annabeth being relieved like Percy was relieved at the end of Titan's Curse tho - oh Hermes :/ - its so hard reading all this and knowing what comes in HoO... Like it's such a cathartic, earned and mostly happy and peaceful ending and then HoO comes along and undermines it all - aww Rick let Paul see Olympus somehow pls, he deserves it, he killed a dracanae - (i would also love to see it) - Percy being more upset Rachel took his pegasus than her going to Camp and possibly dying, lol, priorities dude - i honestly think that Rick had other ideas for the second Great Prophecy and how things would go down in BoO, cause the prophecy like... Barely applies to BoO, Doors of Death are in book four, and explabations of it is all so unclear when Rick is usually pretty good with that stuff - PERCABETH - lol Percy complaining about privacy when he and Annabeth are caught kissing literally in the middle of the very open and public dining pavilion, okay - BEST UNDERWATER KISS OF ALL TIME - that's it and im a glass case of emotion - very happy to say that this series remains my favourite of all time 💖

BIGHIT vs BTS SHIPS The Difference Between Jikook and Taekook

I think I have explained the commercial value of ships when it comes to content marketing in one of my previous posts. But allow me to use this opportunity to address it in depth.

Bighit did not invent shipping. Shipping predates Kpop and plays a vital role in spiking interest, relevancy and longevity of that interest in a piece of marketed content. It sustains Audience Retention rates and improves engagement rates significantly. It is a powerful marketing tool when used right but I'm not going to get into all that in this post.

Fact is BigHit does benefit from shipping culture because it is one way they keep the audience engaged with BTS content even when they aren't putting out new content for the market to consume. BTS ships serve the same purpose as all the Run, Soop, Bon voyage and myriads of sub content they put out. You may not watch Run every day, but if you are a shipper you will like a ship post at least once a day.

Shipping is organic and costs nothing unlike most other marketing strategies available to the marketer. TV programs such as Harry Potter (Dont lie. I know you shipped Hermoine and Harry. I did too. *tears) Star wars, Friends, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Shadow Hunter to name a few have all benefited from shipping culture significantly.

Can BigHit do without ships? Absolutely. They would be a fool to though. Shipping is just one of the many resource options available to a marketer. It bridges the gap in between formal contents and keep interest in a brand going.

I smirk when some people dismiss shipping, look down on shippers or make ignorant and ill informed comments about shipping culture in general. Audience retention and engagement is king in today's economy and BigHit taps into this resource very well.

All BTS ships are thus relevant and valid. All of them. Unfortunately, this is a numbers games. Numbers play a key role in the commercial value of a ship. And it is a fact universally acknowledged that Taekook and Jikook are ships with the most number of fans and as such provides higher engagement rates within a marketing context.

Taekook is the biggest ship not just in BTS but in Kpop. It is followed closely by Jikook. Does that mean all the ships are nothing but shallow interactions engineered to keep us tethered to BTS for as and when they are ready to sell a product to us? NO.

I don't see BigHit actively curating these ships and masterminding them.

What I mean is, I don't think BigHit is asking the members to interact or even forcing them to interact- except in recent moments but that is another topic for another day.

BTS interact with eachother from their own free will. Of course no two interactions are going to be the same as no two relationships are the same. We cannot compare Taegi to Jikook or Taekook to Jikook or even to VMin because the friendship between Jimin and V is not the same as between V and Jin etc.

No one is forcing Jungkook to interact with Jimin. No one is forcing Tae not to interact with JK. It's absurd to think in such a way.

They all interact with eachother and provide that content for BigHit's use. All BigHit does is decide when to show us that content as and if they want to show it to us at all. They are a business and all these ships are just marketing resources and so they will show us a ship's content in a way that advances their business marketing strategy.

However, if two people within a ship barely interact or do not interact at all with eachother then there wouldn't be any content on them for BigHit to promote or use in their marketing campaigns to begin with.

What I'm saying is, if Taekook sells- as in if there are a lot of people interested in seeing their content(which there are) and those two individuals actually have moments together on or off camera, then in their estimation BigHit will market that content to us. If Jikook sells they will sell it to us; as long as none of these ships are damaging to the reputation and business of BigHit.

[CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC BELOW- Proceed with caution.]

A ships value to BigHit, in my opinion, is contingent on its commercial value as discussed above but if that ship causes BigHit to lose money rather than gain, if a ship negatively affects the business or reputation of BigHit then that ship is as good as dead. They will kick that ship off the spotlight real fast.

Taekook and Jikook have both had moments like this where they are temporarily taken off the spotlight or even asked to tone things down. We've all seen it don't argue with me.

Not everything BigHit does is about these ships. BigHit is a brand in of its own. They have several other brands under their brand and they can't afford to ruin their brand image or any of their artists.

They will not hesitate to shut down a ship if it is doing more harm than good. They did it to Taekook when that ship was in it's hay days. As soon as they started recieving a ton of negative press that is when they started getting 'seperated' -on stage anyway. I don't think they were seperated or asked not to interact off camera. Clearly they do. They are friends after all.

BigHit does the same thing to Jikook whenever they start recieving negative attention. But we see them interacting backstage nevertheless and usually this happens at the same event they get 'separated at.'

It's nothing personal, just business.

At this point, I know you would be asking why Taekook seemed to have dimmed as a ship where BigHit is concerned but Jikook recieve the same negative press and yet they still market Jikook and shine more light on it....

A Taekooker friend whom I had this discussion with pointed out to me that it seems whenever Jikook receives a ton of negative press BigHit claps back with more Jikook content and in an aggressive way yet has it being Taekook we wouldn't get any content outside official content for a whole year.

To be fair, BigHit treats all ships equally in my opinion. Jikook gets penalized for certain moments just as much as Taekook or any ship gets punished. Example, after the New Jersey VLive Jikook were banned(allegedly) from doing a Vlive on their own for a whole year and after the ban was lifted their VLive was monitored the same way Taekook's Vlive was monitored.

Secondly, perhaps they keep pushing Jikook content because that is all they have? Perhaps, they have more Jikook content than Taekook?

Jikook spend so much time around each other and they don't mind their interactions being filmed as content. Not because they are doing fan service but more so because they are lowkey exhibitionists or exhibit exhibitionist tendencies. Lol. More on that later.

When it comes to Taekook; Tae have said once that JK avoids him off camera which I assume by that he meant Jk doesn't interact with him much off camera. Now it could also be that Jk was not on good terms with him during that particular period which is normal because friends fight.

Jk have also said him and Tae's relationship is not for the cameras and I assume by that he meant they are both are not comfortable providing content for Bighit to use as marketing because as I said all these ship interactions are by their own free will. Bighit can't force Taekook to interact and if Taekook hasn't given them permission to air certain moments they just can't.

Or... or....

The reason BigHit pushes back with more Jikook content even after negative press is because Jikook is real. DEADASS.

Hear me out. Calling Taekook out for promoting Homosexuality in S.K will be deemed negative press if Taekook are not gay or in an actual romantic relationship. Calling Jikook out for promoting homosexuality will not be deemed as negative press but an abuse if Jikook are in fact gay and in a gay relationship with eachother.

BigHit is not homophobic. Bang PD is known for his openly support for members of the LGBTQ plus community. If people hate on Jikook because of their moment he will sympathize with them and shove that in your face.

While Taekook negative press will be a nuance, Jikook negative press will be revolution and BigHit will make a statement: a statement that says they stand with LGBTQ plus community PERIOD.

They will do this not for money but for the boys so they feel loved and supported. So Jikook knows they are not in this fight alone especially coming from a highly homophobic society as S.K.

The thing about Jikook is, Jikook is real. That alone gives BigHit a competitive advantage in the Industry. It means Jikook produce more content for BigHit over any other pair and that content is juicy. It's similar to how companies want exclusive access to certain power couples in the industry. If Jikook are real and BigHit have access to them, exclusive access mind you, then that places BigHit above the competition business wise.

Think of Jikook and BigHit as the Kardashians and Entertainment company behind them. Jikook has given BigHit partial access to their private lives extending beyond the access they have over BTS.

If Taekook or any ship give similar access to them we will see more of them. If they give BigHit content we will see more of them. It's as simple as that.

Jikook is a brand and BigHit is their brand manager. This means BigHit gets more content from Jikook and is at liberty to use that content any how they want and milk the shit out of it. In return, BigHit has a duty to protect Jikook and so no. When Jikook gets negative press due to homophobia BigHit is not going to cancel them.

May be chill on them for a while, because that exposure they give Jikook can be traumatizing for Jikook especially if the feedback is negative.

What I'm saying is, where Taekook would be asked to chill and lay low from public scrutiny it will be because BigHit wants to protect their business interest whereas in Jikook's case it would be to protect Jikook themselves. If Taekook are both gay and in a relationship with each other BigHit would do same for them.

I don't think BigHits marketing tactics however affects the status of Jikook, Taekook or any other ship's relationship in any way. Jikook is real whether it is made the center of attention or not. Taekook could be real regardless of whether they are marketed or not. Just because a certain ship is put under the spotlight doesn't mean that ship is 'real' neither does that negate the genuine friendship that exists between members of other ships.

It is weird to me when people associate BigHits business tactics to the validity of their ship. There is no correlation. BigHit is a business, BTS are their artists that make them money- all BTS not just two members from a ship. BTS is one of the most powerful brands in the world right now.

BigHit will explore and exploit all the relationships within the group, platonic or otherwise, if that will help them sell more albums or even Icecream.

Jikook gives BigHit a competitive advantage more so than any other ship in BTS not just because they are the second largest ship in South Korea but because Jikook are shaping out to be a power couple and Icons for the LGBTQ community. There is a reason why companies rush to support Pride month parades. I'll leave it there.

So no, I don't see it as BigHit highlighting the ship of the era as you put it or alternating between Jikook and Taekook as and when. BigHit has a business to run, shipping plays a vital role in its business marketing strategy but not everything is about these ships.

The members have a role to play in creating content for these ships and Bighit won't hesitate to market it if the content is quality entertainment, consensual and plays to their overall marketing scheme.

This means if Jikook ship content are boring they will choose to show a much entertaining ship content over them. Nothing personal.

I just think they treat Jikook differently because as much as they want to pander to our delusional shipping interests, they owe Jikook a duty to protect them from homophobic people. When you hate on any ship in BTS, BigHit assumes you are nuts but when you hate on Jikook BigHit will immediately assume you are both nuts and homophobic.

Promoting Jikook is business but it is also validation and acceptance and support. Bighit has a proclivity for sensitizing us to Jikook and normalizing their relationship.

If Taekook are also in a gay relationship they will be treated the same and I will support them the same. But to me, I believe Jikook are real and therefore Taekook and Jikook are mutually exclusive. Both cannot be real at the same time.

Ship whatever you want but support Jikook and stan all seven.
