Trickster - ik who he his, I probably won't forget. He's in this list so I can point out that at this point viewers know he's not dead, but Sam and Dean don't.

Important information: Sam was killed, Dean made a deal to save him. Dean has 1 year before the hellhounds come to collect his soul.

Meg was exorcised to hell. Again.

Main Plot: Sam and Dean's quest for Yellow-eyes, Yellow-eyes' plan for the psychic kids.

On my Season 1 post, I talked about my issues with it. Here's why I like season 2 better:

1. The main plotline moves quicker. I don't have enough of an attention span to sit through episodes that don't relate to each other. I like how there's more plot episodes.

2. The main plotline is more developed and more interesting. I care a little more about it than season one's (it's not the best one, but just in comparison to season 1).

3. The filler episodes are more interesting that last season's

4. Even though there's only 2 reoccurring characters (which is still a big problem for me), they are more developed. We know more about them. Who they are. Why they are the way they are. They have a familiar backstory. Attachments are starting to form.

Dean is a lot more likeable this season. Gives off less fuckboy vibes and less perfect soldier vibes. He's slowly coming into himself, becoming less of what he thinks John wants him to be, and more to just who he is. I love it. I love his character growth over the seasons. Even from season 1 to 2 is making a difference. I can't wait until the seasons where I became super attached to who he is.

Sam is whatever to me where I am at in the show now, so I was shocked when I got back to season 1 and loved him. Then I thought it would be over. But season 2 Sam is great, too. He's sarcastic, funny, cute, and has nice hair. I thought it was only gonna be season 1, but I was wrong, so we'll see if it continues to season 3. (I did not see this new Sam appreciation coming for myself, but I am HERE for it)

The issues I had with this season was that I had nothing to latch on to. When I watched it for the first time a few months ago, I knew absolutely nothing about the show. I almost quit bc I just couldn't get into seasons 1-3. I still didn't care about the plot, and I had absolutely no attachment to either Sam or Dean, even in this season. I was very tempted to start my rewatch at season 4, but I'm glad I didn't.

Even though there's more plot than season 1, it wouldn't have been enough for me last time. There's too much time between any mentions of plot.

I definitely like this season more now that I know more about who they become and what the show becomes. I have a whole new perspective.

Season One Recap

SEASON TWO RECAP

e1- In My Time Of Dying - Dean has an out of body experience when he nearly dies (again (see s1e12)) but this time he befriends the reaper instead of being angry with it (though he does sort of hunt her for a bit). John makes a deal with the Yellow-Eyed Demon and trades his life for Deans! Sad! They also lose the Colt.

e2- Everybody Loves a Clown - The boys meet Ellen, Jo, and Ash, some hunters with some serious know-how. While they wait for info from Ash they hunt a Rakshasa (ancient Hindu creature) dressed as a clown at a carnival! Sam has a lot of feelings about dead dad and Dean lets out his emotions on his car.

e3- Bloodlust - Meet Gordon, a vampire hunter who only sees in black and white, while the dean learns to see in shades of grey. The boys save a nest of vampires who only drink animal blood! But then wonder about all the other creatures they might have killed in cold blood. (Sad.)

e4- Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things - While Sam visits their moms grave, Dean detects some zombie action at the grave next door. Dean really opens up in this one! Sad boys are sad!

e5- Simon Said - Sam is seeing people dying so the brothers gotta go meet some gifted brothers who didn't even know they were brothers! They can make you do what they want just by telling you what to do which is a scary power and the good twin (Andy) has to shoot the bad twin which is sad.

e6- No Exit - Jo tracks one H. H. Holmes to the location of the Philly prison where he was executed but is now haunting and kidnapping young blondes (like Jo). We find out John and Jo's dad hunted together when Jo's dad died. Rough!

e7- The Usual Suspects - Linda Blair guest stars in this episode as a cop who see's a scary but helpful ghost! The brothers almost get locked away but Linda Blair saves the day!

e8- Crossroad Blues - Hellhounds! People making deals with demons are being ate up by big, black hellhounds. Sam and Dean try to break things up by tricking a demon and saving a nice fellow who only ever wanted to save his wife.

e9- Croatoan - The brothers experience their own Roanoke when a mysterious demon virus makes a town go crazy and attack each other. No blood pacts here! The episode ends on a cliffhanger about Sam!

e10- Hunted - Sam splits off from Dean and meets Ava (guest star Katharine Isabelle) another psychic sibling of his who foresees Sam's death (oh no!). Gordon is also back (s2e3) and he is now hunting Sam (oh no!). Ava is able to save Sam but when the boys go to check on Ava at the end her husband is murdered and she is MIA.

e11- Playthings - A hotel haunted with a little girl's spirit but who is kept away but her sister's Hoodoo comes into focus when the living sister has a stroke and cannot continue her magic. Sam makes Dean promise to kill him if he ever goes dark side (sad!).

e12- Nightshifter - The brothers deal with the law because there is yet another shapeshifter, this one can shift fast too and it is robbing banks! Our fellas are in deep trouble by the end of this episode.

e13- Houses of the Holy - A dead priest is playing angel and he tells folks to kill the naughty around town so it is up to Dean to suss out the truth because Sam is on the angel train. By the end Sam is disillusioned and Dean is starting to believe.

e14- Born Under a Bad Sign - Sam is possessed by Meg in this hangover type episode where they must retrace Sam's steps. Jo almost gets hurt and Bobby helps them make Sam Sam again.

e15- Tall Tales - The boys recount to Bobby both sides of what happened to them during a weird case. A Trickster has them all turned around and he escapes in the end!

e16- Roadkill - The boys investigate yet another haunted highway (see s1e13). They get help from a friendly ghost who doesn't know she is a ghost (sad!). Then they help her let go!

e17- Heart - We have an unaware-wolf as in a werewolf that doesn't know she's a werewolf. They think they cure her and then Sammy gets laid! But there is no cure for being a werewolf so she goes out noble in the end.

e18- Hollywood Babylon - A Hollywood studio uses real invocations and summons actual spirits for its horror movie, who knew? The writer knew! And he didn't like what they did with his script so he sicked the spirits on those who opposed him. 

e19- Folsom Prison Blues - The boys get caught on purpose so they can investigate a ghost killing folks in a jail for a friend of their dads. Turns out an old nurse was killing people she thought were bad but the Winchesters put an end to her.

e20- What Is and What Should Never Be - A djinn puts Dean in a fantasy world where he was never a hunter. While there are parts that are great like Mama Mary being alive, he and Sammy don't have a relationship. In the end he makes the hard choice to go back to the real world of hunting with Sam.

e21- All Hell Breaks Loose (Part One) - Sam and all the other demon siblings are brought to a ghost town (literally) to battle royale for who gets to be the best demon child! We meet back with Ava (s2e10), Andy (s2e5), and Ash (s2e2) who all die but Sam also totally dies at the end!

e22- All Hell Breaks Loose (Part Two) - Dean makes a deal to bring Sam back. The devil's gate is opened which is a portal to Hell and it unleashes an army of demons on the world! John crawls out of Hell to save Dean from the Yellow-Eyed Demon who Dean then shoots with the colt! They finally kill the son-of-a-bitch, avenging Mary's death! Sam finds out he died and says he will save Dean from his deal because Sam is also a good brother.

Art Recap 2024

So people in my discord server were interested in seeing an art recap for 2024 (I already did a writing recap on my other blog @heavenssexiestangel)

I think that, overall, 2024 was a somewhat prolific year for my art - I experimented a lot and I am working on drawing more.

I started the year with another work in my DHJ project, the number 8. The project should have been finished in 2024, but unfortunately I didn't have the time and energy, and the project turned from just sketches to full on pieces pretty early on. The project will have 52 pieces, and apart from number 8, I also made number 9 aka "I miss you", number 10 "Chai", number 11 "Kintsugi", number 12, and number 13 "Hope & Rebirth". So it's still a long way to go, but very rewarding.

I also made progress in my Queer Supernatural Project by adding Demisexual Gadreel to the list.

And, speaking of Ree, I also made a sketch of him. It's very different from the rest of my pieces for many reasons, and not exactly the best, but I did learn from it so that's what's important.

I also went back to colored pencils (and an art journal on for spn pieces/sketches) with "A study in eyes". And due to my love for colored pencils and my interest in botanical pieces, I started anì new project with "Fig".

In 2024 I also participated and published as an artist in 2 bangs - the @spnangelsanddemons-rb and the @spnrareshipbang, which resulted in various pieces for 3 different fics. The first was The Fool's Journey with @ladyknightskye for the first bang, while for the second bang I worked on "His Faithful Love" with @samanddean76 and "Twisted Fate" with @reelnaturalfreak.

Stay tuned in 2025, because I joined more bangs :)

And speaking of events, I also joined the Cirque du Freak fanzine with my piece "Madame Truska".

Furthermore, I participated in my first "Draw This in Your Style" on Instagram. I'd like to do more, but who knows.

Drawing animals used to be my fave so I started again this year and also published Herald Cat. I also drew rats as a gift for @michaelmilligan's sister for her bday. I'll surely make more.

So, for me, it was overall a prolific year.

Crowley Big Bang Recap - Part 1

Hello, darlings.

Thinking about a Reddit post I saw that was complaining about how the "Road so far" segment ruins the show because it's just showing that episode's plot device or returning character and spoiling it.

And I think what people forget was back when this showed aired, it was at a time when a week went by before the next episode or even months and that the opening segment was a "Here's what happened in case you didn't see this".

Like now you can blitz through 1-15 without a problem and have every episode there to watch.

But think about those in 2005 when it was just becoming the show it is today, what if you watched Pilot but then you were busy the week after and couldn't watch Wendigo? And then obviously not being able to watch every single episode on its air date.

People now just forget that back then, it wasn't as easy as it is now to watch a show. Like the only best way to even catch up on s1 completely to catch up wouldn't be until the 5th September 2006 when the DVD boxset came out for s1.

I grew up with Doctor Who (2010-2017) and the previously segment was common, it's been a common thing in a lot of franchises because again, it was at a time when things aired all over the place and if you missed it well tough shit.

Livechat recap: Writing Reader Inserts - How to Reduce the Y/N of It All

We had a great chat in our Discord server about different aspects of writing reader insert fics! Those who were there or have contributed to the discussion after the fact are: @notsofly, @spn-fanfic-reblog-writes, @kazsrm67, @thoughtslikeaminefield, @zepskies, @talltalesandbedtimestories, and @stunudo. Below the cut is a rundown of the points that we discussed!

How do you reduce the use of Y/N and similar placeholders?

Nicknames - This is especially easy when writing SPN because Dean loves giving nicknames to everyone.

For placeholders like Y/H/C and Y/E/C - When writing from the RIC's (Reader Insert Character) POV (Point Of View), this is easy because most people don't consider their own hair or eye color. When writing from another character's POV, like an SPN Character (SPNC), focus on attributes like how eyes can shine, or narrow. Hair can be soft or shiny.

Decide if the detail you're referring to is necessary to the story. If the plot doesn't change without it, do you really need to include it?

How much detail does an RIC need?

Only those details that would change the story if they were different or missing. For example, if a story is about aging/maturity or how a RIC reacts to new tech, then age is necessary.

What specific details should you leave out when possible?

Hair length/style - Some women have very short hair that can't be put into a ponytail or braided. Focus on feel of the hair, not tangling it into someone's fingers.

Weight - You can mention curves and leave the rest to the imagination.

Blushing - You can feel your face get hot, but you can’t really see yourself blushing. Describe the feeling over the appearance. Darker skin tones don't turn noticeably red when blushing.

Race/ethnicity - Unless your story involves ethnic customs or dealing with something specifically racial, this is not a necessary detail.

Clothing - Unless a hunter is dressing up, clothing does not need to be specifically described. Even when dressing up, clothing can be described generically. "A dress in her favorite color that showed off her assets and minimized those little parts of herself she wanted hidden." A job can affect clothing, but just going to the mall or on a date does not. Describe comfort over style.

What is the difference between an OC (Original Character) and a RIC?

Backstory - OC's will usually have a backstory to help define their character. RIC's only need backstory as it pertains to the current story. They can have one, but only what's needed for the story.

Name

Physical description - OC's need to be described but RIC's need to not be described as much as possible.

Does an RI fic need to be in 2nd Person POV?

No. They can also be written in 3rd person omniscient (the audience knows what everyone is thinking) or 3rd person limited POV (the audience only knows what one person is thinking, as if they were in that character's head).

Are RI fics more popular on one platform vs. another?

Yes. RI fics seem to be a lot more popular on Tumblr than on AO3. Tumblr also seems to prefer RIC's over OC's. We don't know why.

Ways to describe eyes that don't involve color?

Focus on the emotions - see emotions in their eyes instead of color

Focus on actions - eyes crinkling, slitting, narrowing, widening. She batted her eyes or looked up at him through her lashes.

Other adjectives besides color - Bright eyes, shining eyes, etc

NO ORBS.

How do you write a Gender Neutral RIC (GNRIC)?

You have to avoid gender stereotypes like women being more emotional and emotionally available while men are more stoic and stubborn. Women and men stereotypically flirt differently. You need to identify those traits in your story and balance them out to neutralize them. Get down to your basic "people" traits for the character.

Who cuddles who? Maybe the SPNC comes to the GNRIC and asks for cuddles? Decide if that kind of thing matters and why.

The GNRIC discussion at the end of our time led to the creation of a writing challenge to explore gender. How would we write a female RIC differently from a male RIC if they were put into the same story? How does knowing this help us to strip gender stereotypes from our story to make a truly gender-neutral RIC?
