u shouldn't be bending over backwards to answer every phone call, email, or text message. if ur doing something, its okay to be like "hey im busy, i'll get back to you" and you shouldn't feel bad for doing so. thats just you respecting ur own time and doing what u have to do.

i dont rly have this problem cuz im not the best communicator but i do make an effort to get back to people when i can. and its not even like u purposely being unavailable for the people u care about, its just u doing what u need to do first and then getting back to people when u can.

if u have someone in ur life who is simply taking up space and isnt pouring into u in the way that u are doing for them, then u can cut them off. for example guys who wanna be in the talking stage for a billion years, or people who just like to yap and waste ur time.

Right???? Imagine a fan of Armand telling you not to post about what he did to Claudia in his tag. It's a pretty significant part of his arc. Or Lestat dropping Louis in the show, or Claudia's serial killing, or Louis's neglect of Claudia. That would all be pretty strange.

And you also get called performative or a virtue signaller for discussing his most notable contribution to the Vampire Chronicles canon (grooming Armand which has a domino effect for every choice Armand makes after that point, especially regarding his personal relationships.) Interesting to know there are those who think calling a pedophile a pedophile is performative. Is this just an extension of the "it's not that deep" mentality that pollutes the way so many interact with the media they consume nowadays or is it something else?

Because it is that deep. Personal feelings, positive or negative, towards Marius aside. That is what he is. That is objectively what he is. It doesn't matter if it was only Armand, it doesn't matter if he never did it again and it doesn't change just because other characters have also done bad things. This isn't even a comment on whether it was wrong or not, though it obviously was horrific. It is an entirely neutral statement. That is what he is. It is inarguable.

There are fans of every character who downplay what their favourites do, I suppose because they don't understand the genre of what they're watching/reading, but it is undeniable that the characters who remained white or have yet to be cast (and so are still perceived as white due to the canon of the books) have a significantly higher number of people making excuses for them.

Personally, I cannot understand why Marius is the character people are riding this hard for. On top of being a child predator, he's also exceedingly arrogant, seems to have no regard for what he did to Armand beyond what is performative, he's delusional and entitled and arrogant and selfish and immature.

But above all, perhaps what is his worst crime as a fictional character is being profoundly uninteresting. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt in previous posts but he is just boring. He's a racist relic of the past who never evolved past his backwards period-appropriate colonial views. That is why he found a boy who comes from the region we would now know as Ukraine, 'educated' him, dressed him up in pretty outfits and broke him down into pieces just to put the pieces back together in a more agreeable form. You could remove all the SA and that would still be true about him. That aspect of their relationship just really drives the point home. Perhaps some research into the historical mistreatment and perception of Eastern Europeans and how that intersects with colonialism and how this concept is only rendered more profound by Assad's casting would serve these people well.

Then, when Armand reacts like all abused children do instead of being his maker's passive pretty little doll, Marius gives up on him and is content to let a cult destroy his mind even further than it already had been for hundreds of years, completely abandoning him to their torture. A true romance for the ages (sarcasm.)

Marius's abusive tendencies and the way in which they are different to other characters are the most interesting thing about him, and we can't even talk about it candidly without having people who read the absolute horror that was The Vampire Armand as a regular romance telling us off for making them feel bad about a character they chose to post publicly about loving. I'll reiterate again that you cannot willfully misinterpret a piece of media to such an extreme and then be sensitive when you see accounts that differ to your own. Have some courage in your convictions, for God's sake. No one rational and reasonable thinks someone is a bad person for liking a fictional character, but don't come on public social media and start policing people for what they think. Everyone inevitably gets their feelings hurt on social media. It's like the wild west on here. It is unrealistic to expect otherwise.

It's frustrating to me personally, I suppose, because there are so many people like Marius, fictional and otherwise. He's not special in any regard. He took a traumatised boy and tried to tame him and making him 'civilised'. It's a tale as old as fucking time. I'm sorry for the Marius defenders who find this discourse boring but you will need to get used to it because it's only going to get worse when season 3 airs and the writers continue to do what they are already doing, which is portraying Marius accurately. I apologise for everyone who will see that ancient white colonial racist buy the little boy from Delhi and destroy everything that remains of him and get annoyed that we aren't moving past that part and filling up their ao3 tag blindly with fluff.

I expect this attitude is going to change when they introduce Marius formally to the show, or at least it will be drowned out more which will be a relief. The writers know what he is and they're already showing it. They had no issue showing Lestat, Louis and Armand for exactly what they are, so I'm not sure why anyone would be convinced that Marius would be any different.

But yes! Hello, I shall !! I have a lot of thoughts, and I am a crazy fan of horror, so I incorporate some element of the uncanny into how I draw spectres.

As a horror fan, it makes me ECSTATIC to see people incorporate a more horrorish approach to the spectres, or how they draw something, but here I go! It's long, and a bit ranty.

(tldr: i call will biology boy, analog horror is based off of the alternates from the Mandela Catalogue, he cant look at himself in the mirror, the process when he duplicates is a lot like mitosis, i love seeing ppl talk about horror possibilities with Will, and in a William Wilson sort of telling, he has a doppelganger who is basically all his pent up negativity and deepest desires/everything he wants but can't have. the doppelganger mocks this)

Before we saw his duplication, me and many people denoted the process as "Willtosis" as a pun on the cell division. I nickname him "Biology Boy" because his abilities lean towards biology, so like the duplication and the mimicry. I have been sharing this one since about August, and I know quite a few people know me as "the one who draws Will's spectre all scary" So that I took the name "doppelganger" and based how I draw him off of the Mandela Catalogue, since Doppelganger is a stage of an Alternate! So all of my Will spectre art is based off of analog horror. If he can become a caricature, mold his face, change his features anytime he wants, why not make it realistic! I imagine after episode 120, he looks eerily uncanny/realistic, so I try to convey that in my artworks. Additionally, his pupils become a bit blurrier when he shifts into someone. In terms of mimicry, I imagine he can't look at HIMSELF in the mirror too long. He sees some doppelganger/someone that looks like him but is too good to be true. Is it everything he wanted? Dreamed of? It's right there, and he can't have it. He swears he looks different each time he looks at himself. I hope to write a fic where I explore selfishness with Will and the abilities he has with his spectre. He can have EVERYTHING HE WANTS. HE CAN TURN INTO MONTRESOR AND SAY THINGS IN MONTRESOR'S VOICE THAT HE WOULD NEVER SAY. Will wants validation from Monty, he will get it, even if it's empty validation. He will turn into Ada, watch her cry. CRY AS HER. Get all his emotions out. He knows what he is doing is wrong, but he knows he will never get it. So at one moment he is allowed to do what he wants: he has no roommate, so he will utilize the body mirror, and perfect his spectre. Sometimes, he gets too into the role and forgets who he is, or loses himself a bit in the process. Maybe one night as he is Montresor, his voice gets stuck as an exact replica of Monty's, and he panicks.

He gets fed up one day, and turns into a plethra of people. He shifts from person to person. Additionally, just imagine how CRAZY a Will crashout would be if he turned into Montresor, an exact copy but with something off in his face. (will crashout season 2 and will in a hall of mirrors when)

In terms of duplication, I imagine when he isn't bleeding out, his clone splits from the side of his body, like it's pain. He can feel it. The way his mind splits, the subconscious. his face contorting and the way his body is physically fine at the end, but the process is nauseating that he ends up falling to the ground while his doppelganger stands beside him.

Speaking of which, and it may have shown with the amount of times I have reblogged k3yboi's ask (which you can find here!) But in a William Wilson esque sort of telling, I imagine Will has a doppelganger who has everything he wants. The ideal, deep desires of William Wilson. And I imagine he is like Montresor, because Will loves Montresor, and looks up to him. And Will cannot have it.

It makes me ENTRALLED to see the concept of horror with Will be explored in the fandom, because I have been discussing it since summer of 2024. Additionally, it makes me a little shocked to see artists become INSPIRED with the way I draw this. I am genuinely baffled at this, but also grateful by such a thing.

Despite showing this ego-inflated attitude, Ezreal is a wounded inside individual that uses this confident exterior to cover trauma he wouldn't admit having. He is a very critical individual of the people and city he grew up in, because he sees his own flaws exaggerated in them. With no hesitation, he slammed your door open. The sound of your door being slammed opened, startled you. Rising from the comfort of your bed, turning around, only to make eye contact with your beloved boyfriend.

You're frozen in place, not knowing what to do. You wanted to speak, to explain, but your mouth won't open.

Instead, you watch him. You watch him coming over to you. His large form standing in front of you.

You thought he was going to ask you, you really did. But you didn't really have the energy to tell him about your problems and depression.

But, instead, he only wrapped his arms around you. Safe and warm.

Immediately, you cling to him, tears that were once dry came back, rolling down your cheeks as you slowly broke in his arms.

Your arms tightened around his waist as he sat beside you. Silent but the warmth of his touch said everything, his touch that are silent but understanding.

Resting his chin at the top of your head. His fingers caress your hair, with love and care.

The new chapter is going well, I think! I definitely had a lot of apprehensions about starting it because of the intense and nuanced emotions -- I didn't want to do a disservice to the intricate relationship between Max and Lando, both of their perspectives on What Happened. So finally digging my nails into that has been hard, but it's also been deeply satisfying; I have to say that I'm unusually pleased with how it's turning out :)

As for the rest... I do know the main direction. I know how the story ends, I know the major decisions that Lando needs to make. When I first started writing October Birds, I tried to looooooosely assign when each of those main things happened, but the really far-fetched chapters (cough cough 6-10 cough) were a little more... hand wavy. So now I'm at the stage of deciding where I want ch6 to end, where I want 7 to pick up, etc.. But I'm surely I'll feel the right answer when I get there, it just takes a lot of capital C Contemplation.

The car door closes with a sense of finality, and Lando flinches. Strung thin, it's like the sound slaps him across the cheek and leaves a mark in the shape of Max's words:

"We're not doing it here."

He hits the ignition.

"Course, yeah." Lando mumbles, too much of a coward to look over at him, to take in the hard set of his jaw and white-knuckle grip on the steering wheel. He can't look at how he's hurt him, at how he's blinking back the wetness in his eyes as he merges into the slow crawl of traffic.

It's silent.

Minutes pass like that, in the silence.

Max sniffles, the sound almost drowned out by the steady click of his turn signal.

"Fuck you." Max's voice shakes, uncertainty giving way to anger. "Fuck you, what – what the fuck is wrong with you?"

Lando doesn't look at him, eyes fixed on his hands in his lap.

Max doesn't look either, staring pointedly at the road ahead.

"I thought you fucking died, you miserable little prick. You could've, someone could've – god, fuck, what if you had…"

Lando whispers, "I'm sorry –"

"Shut up! Just shut up, I'm so fucking – what the fuck is wrong with you?" He repeats, anger burning off and reemerging as something more frantic, a fevered hysteria. "I called Adam, called Jon – I thought you fucking crashed, o-or got, like, abducted. Ransomed. Got yourself fucking killed, I thought you got yourself fucking killed in some place we were never gonna find you, and then, god. What the fuck would I tell your mum?

The idea that trusting his brother enough to let him live his own life independently once he comes of age is somehow a dick move and not what Babe himself would want? That prioritising his own happiness for the first time in his life is peak jerkface behaviour? From comments I've seen you'd think Kant had basically declared Babe was now dead to him! I mean, it only took: agreeing to seduce (only to then fall in love for real with) an assassin, getting knocked out, kidnapped, confronted with your childhood trauma and threatened with death multiple times for Kant to realise that maybe, just maybe, he needs to re-evaluate some things! its about the fact that bg3 has a lot of tiefling characters, somehow more than wotr, and huge theme of like hells and connections to demons\devils and somehow manages to say absolutely nothing interesting about it.

in wotr we have examination of tieflings fitting into human society, ostracization and (literal) demonization of them, where even if some of them would want to help in war against hell, they are scared (frex, group of tieflings thieves you save which you can ask to help u and they are like are u kidding me, crusaders will torch us). woljif in particular is a deconstruction of selfish chaotic neutral tielfling rogue archetype, his story both exploring how both he was pushed into being a criminal bc he had no other options, but also interplay with how he then himself tends to dismiss his own agency in being able to decide for himself and choose better, forever excusing himself with "well this is a crappy hand dealt to me", his survivalist attitude of everyone for themselves vs desire for community, how when given a smidge of stability and access to decision making in council, he tries to awkwardly, but eagerly advocate for societal improvement for all tieflings, and this is one of his most sincere moments - and gets laughed at immediately, etc etc. and speaking of community, v interesting intersection between "good" and "bad" marginalized groups of mongrels vs tieflings, with Lann being self-righteous about both his moral superiority and how mongrels "have it worse", while ignoring that mongrels - and he himself specifically - are mistreated literally bc they are mistaken for tieflings.

btw if anyone wants me to talk more about mongrels vs tieflings thing, hit me up, i think there was a interesting stuff, even if not properly dramatized

meanwhile in bg3 being tiefling largely means nothing? like the refugees would sometimes like drop a line out loud about how tieflings should stick together bc humans won't help them, but like that's it. the refugees could literally be humans running from war or blue cat ppl from avatar running from capitalism and nothing in the plot or characters would need to be changed. tieflings is just cosmetics for them, like idk its cool to have colorful NPCs with fire eyes and sexy horns. And even companions wise, you know I love Karlach and tried to romance her, but being tiefling is just looks for her, its not meaningful. It doesn't matter for her backstory, she could have been a strong human from poor background who was sold out to idk, underdark. like it sucked bc she was forced to do violence and everyne was an asshole and she couldn't see sun, but otherwise it being Blood War specifically doesn't come into play. and like. Blood War has famously huge effects on ppl with hell heritage! I'm not saying she should have been Valen Shadowbreath with entire plotline about struggling with blood war calling, but like. idk, something?

my point is that tieflings and hell has a lot of lore and like, FLAVOUR in this setting, which were not explored at all. these are just ppl with horns and generic Bad Place.

and then like. devil essentialism. bg3 has central motive of how evil races are not ontologically evil, but like, devils are. sdfghjk. apparentely mind flayers can fight actual mind control if they are V Special, but all devils/demons are evil with no exceptions. karlach was in hell for 10 years and never met a single sympathetic devil. the closest one he had mocks IS Evil when we meet her in game. and I actually liked Raphael (transition could've saved her), but there is nothing particularily interesting about him, he's also straighforwardly evil. this severely limits how interesting interactions with hell are. in wotr there is a wide range from reformed succubus to most evil sadists, with every shade in between, which allows for complex stories, like that that fucked up love between that betrayer dwarf and demoness who seduced him. she's legit evil, but she also has actual twisted affection for him, and he knows she uses him, but he was pushed too far by humans and chooses her anyway. this background story is honestly has more depth than wyll's and mizora relationship, where shes just evil and he's straighforwardly martyr. when mizora offered to have fun wink wink, i immediately knew she's gonna Evil It. and she did. and she didn't even get anything out of it! it was just staining your soul to be evil:3 like ok, but boring tbh.

and like yeah war with hell is central plot of wotr, obviously it has a lot more to say and explore about it, but like. bg3 didn't HAVE to have to include so many tieflings and have us follow their stories through all acts. it didn't have to include hell in "no race essentialism" game if it didn't want to talk about it. it chose to, and when game has big chuncks of content about smth connected by a theme, i expect it to say smth about it? anything interesting? eh.
