"Can I kiss you?" she asks as if she had read your mind and set out to prove your prejudice. "You didn't use to ask." If she had, would you have said yes or run for the hills? "I was a bit of a pendeja back then," she admits, "I'm trying to be a better woman these days."
Once again on my never-ending quest to bring these two to some rocky beach for silly photos. The weather never really cooperates with me when I do try. ^^;; This time was no different, beautiful day but windy as fuck. I'm a bit shocked neither of them toppled into the ocean, but I did managed some quick fun snaps in the end. I do love taking pictures near the waterfront~ <3

Check-Mate.
Summary: Mihawk thought he was too old to believe in silly things like love at first sight, but things change;
Word count: 2,453;
Rating/Content Warnings: PG-16, AFAB reader;
Author’s note: Hi, guys! This is my first time writing for Mihawk; he might be a little OOC, but I'm still trying to find my footing with him. Feedback would be deeply appreciated. Please reblog/like if you enjoy this!
Previous chapter || Next chapter
You stared down at your plate, trying not to look miserable.
Sanji had outdone himself once again and brought out a dinner that seemed more fit to a king — and you knew it, as you were now a fugitive princess who escaped an evil uncle who wanted to marry you off to any weak man who he could control and, by extension, keep his hold on the throne and power: more specifically, your power, as you had eaten a devil fruit and now has something similar to Midas’ touch. But looking down at the plate in front of you, you couldn't help but notice that it was beautiful, smelled delicious, and you were sure that it tasted heavenly… but it was different.
Not from most of the crew; your plate looked the exact same as the ones in front of Luffy, Usopp, or even Zoro. But Nami and Robin had plates adorned with flowers and beautifully placed garnishes in front of them. It was evident how much time, effort, and appreciation had gone into their presentations.
It was quite common at this point, and you took notice of it almost instantly. Sanji was the one who helped you escape after some of the servants in the castle tr, guiding you by the hand through the streets of your city — the streets you didn't know, as your uncle had kept you hiding inside the guarded walls of the castle since you were a young girl — and into the Thousand Sunny; you chose to go with the strawhats, and now there was a hefty bounty prize to whoever brought you back home alive.
And you couldn't help but fall head over heels for Sanji, the first person ever to show you kindness or to see you as a person, not just someone from the royal family or their entryway into fortune or power. And it was painful to see how differently he treated you when compared to the other girls on the crew or to any pretty woman from the islands you guys visited; you could never accuse Sanji of being rude or mean, but he just treated you the same way he treated the guys or Chopper, and you just sat there ruminating on why would that be — you weren't pretty enough, nice enough, feminine enough?
All of that went through your mind while you stared down at your plate, and you could see the looks from Nami, Usopp, and Robin; they all kind of knew how you felt about Sanji — not that you were able to hide it — and the sadness showing up in your eyes made them empathetic. But it's not like you had openly talked about it with them, so none of them felt comfortable asking you if you were okay.
“Sanji, why is YN's plate different?” Chopper asked sweetly. You felt the cook freeze on the spot and grabbed your fork and knife as if you didn't hear it. “What do you mean, Chopper?” “Well, Nami and Robin’s plates and drinks are always prettier and nicer because they're women, right? So why does Y/N get regular food like the rest of us?”
“It's okay, Chopper,” you said with a smile to the doctor. “It's fine. Sanji's cooking is the best with flowers or without, right?”
“Y-YN, m'sorry, let me take care of it and—” Sanji started, his face beet red, trying to get the plate back, but you grabbed his wrist, startling him. “Don't.”
Your tone was icy and harsh, as they had never heard before, and the shift in the room's atmosphere was noticeable; the tension could be cut with a knife. Embarrassed, you simply grabbed your plate and went back to your dorm, locking the door behind you.
It was now days later, and things were still weird between you and Sanji. Chopper had asked for your forgiveness, but you had repeatedly reassured him that there was nothing to be forgiven. You did your best to avoid Sanji and the others, choosing to spend most of your days on a little spot of the deck Franky had added some stuff for you: a chess table with magnetic pieces so they wouldn’t get knocked over by the constant movement of the boat and a telescope. You still did your chores and helped, but you chose to be in your quarters or play chess alone.
On that specific afternoon, you were doing laundry — the little laundry you had, as you were still a bit uncomfortable buying clothes for yourself, and your old clothes, all frilly lace and flowy dresses, weren’t fit for life in a pirate ship; Robin once chuckled and said that you, always wearing jeans and white button-ups, looked like a cartoon character and Nami had promised she’d take you out for a shopping spree on the next island with good shops — when a commotion started on the deck. Leaving your load of laundry behind, you grabbed your bow and ran to the deck.
Dracule Mihawk stood there like an exotic animal, and you, still holding your bow up, made your way until you were close to Robin. “So… there’s a Cross Guild member on our deck, and no one’s doing anything about it?”
“That’s Zoro’s mentor,” Robin explained with a small chuckle. “And he said there are things he needs to discuss with our captain.”
The small exchange between you and Robin caught Mihawk’s attention, and you froze in your place, unable to react under such an intense gaze. Lowering your weapon, you regained some of your spirit and stood straight, staring right back at his yellow eyes, not backing down when he made his way toward you.
“Your royal highness,” Mihawk said with a courtesy, and, out of habit more than anything else, you presented your hand, which he brought to his lips without ever breaking eye contact. In the corner of your eye, you could see Nami and Robin raising eyebrows and Zoro looking like he was about to combust, but none of that mattered. Luffy showed up on deck, and Mihawk slowly made his way to the captain. After a short exchange of words, Luffy guided the swordsman to somewhere where they could talk a bit more privately, and you relaxed, still next to Robin. From across the deck, Sanji stared at you fiercely and seemed to be biting his lips, but you simply turned your back and returned to your laundry.
Mihawk was far too old to believe in love at first sight, or at least that is what he thought.
He had his fair share of lovers throughout the years, but those were just flings; someone to scratch the itch, if you will. Nothing ever lasted for more than a couple of weeks, and he never bothered to make it last. He was quite content with that, as he very much enjoyed the silence and peace in his life, especially now that neither Zoro nor Perona were there to cause a stir, but he had felt intrigued by you ever since he had read about your escape on the paper; coincidentally he had matters to discuss with Luffy, so he could take a good look on your, and take a good look he did.
Even in regular clothing that seemed too plain for you, you still seemed regal — it was something in your posture and how you held your head high. If you thought he looked out of place as an exotic bird, Mihawk could say the same about you; he could read in your body language that you still felt out of your element — like when you were holding your bow, much more like someone used to hunt for sport than to be in the middle of battle shooting arrows at enemies. The pictures in the papers or wanted posters did you no justice, as they couldn’t capture the expression of longing and sadness in your eyes or the way you bit your lips, unsure of what to do next.
As much as Mihwak would have adored spending more time admiring you, he was there on business, so he excused himself and retreated to discuss some important topics with Luffy.
And even though he couldn't deny that he looked for you the same way a moth looked for a flame, Mihawk pushed the “love of first sight” idea to the back of his mind. Attraction, definitely; infatuation, maybe. But love?
That wasn’t a possibility.
He wasn't expecting to see you alone on deck when he was preparing to leave. Enjoying the sunshine, you sat in front of a game of chess, seemingly trying to understand what the next move would be. Without making a sound, Mihawk walked until he was standing behind you, and, without saying a word, he reached his arm and moved one of the white bishops.
Startled, you turned over on your chair and looked up at the swordsman. “That was the best next move. What to do next?” he asked, looking attentively into your eyes. You stuttered for a moment, eyes darting everywhere while trying to think of the right answer. “Come on, take your time, Your Royal Highness. There is no right or wrong answer here.” Mihawk said with a low chuckle while taking the seat directly in front of you and putting his sword down close to him.
“Yes, there is,” you retorted, holding your chin with one hand and tapping on the table with the other. “If I make the wrong move, that's a check. And there's no need to use titles here, please. Outside the realm, I'm not ‘royal highness’; I'm just Y/N.”
“As you wish, miss Y/L/N.” Mihawk felt very happy with himself when he saw a light blush creeping up your neck and ears. “But tell me, why would you be here by yourself?”
“My apologies, sir, but why are you sitting here, asking me this? You don't seem the type to enjoy small talk,” you asked uncertainly, not trying to be rude but genuinely intrigued.
“I am merely curious about you, miss Y/L/N. You're a runaway princess in a pirate ship with a crew famous for getting themselves in trouble. You are an interesting person, and I want to know more about you.” The tips of your ears turned into a brighter shade of red.
“Ah, there was a situation the other day. And I'm feeling a little embarrassed about it, so I’d much rather stay by myself.”
“Just… A situation?”
“Yeah, I’m not about to start sharing the owes of my pathetic love life with a man I don’t know,” she said with a bitter smile.
“Would it have something to do with the cook, who is over there looking like he wants to kick the lights out of me?” Y/N rolled her eyes and made her move on the chess board. “Just… ignore him. Whatever happened, it’s unimportant”.
Mihawk simply acquiesced and made his move on the chess board. Eventually, you two fell into a comfortable silence while playing. You kept your focus on the chess board, attentively studying and thinking about your next move, but Mihawk was studying you.
You were clearly not comfortable in your own skin yet; your clothes, as simple as they were, showed that you were not sure what style would suit you best or that you, under the thumb of your uncle from a young age, still had to figure out what clothes you liked best. Your hair, pulled back in a ponytail, probably reached your waist, but maybe you had no idea how to style it. You were someone being free for the first time in your life,
“Would you like to drink something? I wouldn’t get you the boat fuel that Zoro likes to drink, but I do have some red wine in my cabin,” she asked tentatively. Mihawk nodded and watched as she walked away, groaning internally as the blond cook took her place.
“What are you doing with Y/N?”
Mihawk stared down at the blond and tilted his head, feigning ignorance; you didn’t want to talk about whatever it was that had transpired between you and the cook, and he wasn’t one to be intrusive into others' personal lives. “Playing chess and having a glass of wine. Why?”
Sanji pressed his lips into a thin line, grabbing the chess board so hard his knuckles turned white. “You’re trying to flirt with her? Romance her? Get laid?”
“I am merely getting to know the lady. That’s all. She is quite a beautiful woman, though, and I believe that if something were to happen, she wouldn’t need to ask for permission from any of you. And I also believe this conversation is over,” Mihawk said with a voice smooth as silk, his hand gliding over his sword’s handle — a silent but powerful warning. Sanji looked in the direction of your steps, seeing you coming over with two glasses and a wine bottle.
He glanced at Mihawk, radiating rage, but got up and went back to the kitchen.
You took back your sit and poured over the wine for the both of you, completely ignoring Sanji and pretending you didn’t see him. With your wine glass in hand, you pulled your knee close to your chess and mulled over your next move. The two of you again fell under a silent spell, sipping on the wine you had brought out and waiting for the others' turn to be over. You tried your best not to stare but managed to steal a couple of glances at the warlord, still wondering why such a man would be spending his time at the deck of the Thousand Sunny, playing chess. It felt good to spend time with someone who didn’t look at you pitifully, though, and it had been a long time since you had a chess partner, so you weren’t going to complain.
“Ah! Check-mate!” you said, triumphant, your lips parting in a bright smile while you picked the king from Mihawk’s side of the chessboard.
“Well done, miss Y/L/N,” Mihawk had a gentle look and something on his lips that, to someone who knew him quite well, could be considered a small smile. “I do have to go; I am afraid I might have overextended your crew’s generosity by overstaying, but after my discussion with your captain, it is my understanding that you will have to stop by my island. It would be my pleasure to have a rematch.” Mihawk stood up and, again, reached for your hand.
“Of course, sir,” you said as he kissed your knuckles before grabbing his things and leaving.
Sanji watched all of this from afar, seething.

Sagau Inazuma
When you first arrived at Inazuma, Ei tried to lock you in Musou Ishin together with her. If not for Yae Miko's insistence that you need external simulation to enjoy your life in Inazuma, you probably would not be able to see the light of the day ever again.
So, your residence changed from Musou Ishin to Tenshukaku, but what doesn't change is Ei always clinging to you by your side. You are a bit amazed and equally terrified that Ei who could change the lives of Inazuma people with her single order is always by your side.
Since Ei rarely let you out of Tenshukaku, the only ones who have the opportunity to meet you are the people from Shogunate who have assess to the castle's entrance: Kujo Sara, Yae Miko, Shikanoin Heizou, Kamisama siblings, and sometimes their housekeeper.
And in the few and far instances they have a chance to have your audience, they are only allowed to meet you through a binding screen because if dare they look directly at your counterance, they will die in the hands of Shougun's Musou no Hitotachi.
That is why Kujo Sara and everyone else in the Shogunate is seething when Arataki Itto kidnap you out of the castle to search for Onikabuto together, a worried looking Kuki Shinobu, following behind you two.
When the Tenyou commission finally finds you, you are thoroughly exhausted from playing all around the forest and walking around the city. Arataki Itto is forgiven because of your insistence but still Ei is planning to execute him the moment she gets a chance.
You have already known Kaedehara Kazuha since he is often at the Crux. So, you always visit Ritou when the Crux anchors at the harbor. But of course you are always accompanied by samurai from Tenyou commission. Even Ei who stays shut-in sometimes follows you out of her domain to the harbor.
Unfortunately, those who have few chances to meet you are those from Watatsumi Island. This again is because Ei refuses to let you go out often, much less a far away island like Watatsumi.
You often quarrel with her because of how he always wants to confine you under her eyesight. But when she cries at your feet at how she lost so many of her beloved family and friends and how she worries the same happens to you, you find yourself unable to blame her much.
However, that makes Sangonomiya Kokomi and Gorou unable to meet you unless they come to Inazuma city for negotiations. It makes the two wonder if you are angry at them and the Watatsumi Army for declaring war against the Shogunate.
But that can't be farther from truth. You always felt sorry for Watatsumi Island for their difficult situations. And you have always wanted to help them in whatever way you can.
One thing to note is that Kamisato Ayato is the only one who doesn't seem to be as devoted towards you as the others as opposed to his sister who can be counted as one of the most devotee. He respects you an appropriate amount so as not to be criticized by others. But he is not truly dedicated to you. And he is too smart for you to understand what is going on his mind so you are a bit scared interacting with him.
In contrast, his sister is ultra devoted. Moreover, unlike Ei who is very controlling of your lifestyle, Ayaka support you in whatever you do. And since she knows what is it like to have a life of constantly being watched and assessed, she helps you out in whatever way she can if you want some peace and quiet. So, she is one of the few people who gained the honor of calling theirselves your friend.
Another one you are scared of is Yae Miko. But unlike Ayato, you can feel her love for you. But still she is a sly fox who is always teasing you or troubling you with her antics. Despite that, she is really sharp when it comes to you and Inazuma's situation. So, you, like Gorou, are a bit nervous around her.

A summary of the Guapoduo lore today because my heart is in tatters
Roier and Quackity are doing a bit and fighting each other at the Oxxo. Roier says "Help!" in chat. Cellbit sees it and gets worried, asking where he is.
Roier doesn't respond, so Cellbit gets even more worried. He starts checking the map to see where Roier is despite the fact he's in a dungeon with Forever
Eventually, Cellbit warps over to the Oxxo to check on Roier (he's fine). They have some banter, and Cellbit says he wants to talk to Melissa / the psychologist about something. Roier asks why he wants to talk to Melissa instead of him, and Cellbit says it's just because he wants to get something off his chest.
Quackity says he knows a doctor and relogs as Doctor Simi. They go to Roier's psychology office and ask Roier to wait outside so Cellbit can have a private conversation with Doctor Simi (Quackity).
(Roier secretly stays outside on the roof and listens to the conversation)
Cellbit confesses that he and Abueloier (Roier's "Abuelo" who visited the Island for the wedding) got into a fight because Abueloier was trying to stop / ruin their marriage. In the first incident, Cellbit was triggered by a cellphone and jail cell (which reminded him of his past) and he says he "accidentally" stabbed Abueloier 7 times. He says Abueloier pulled a chainsaw on him next, which triggered him more because Cucurucho attacked and tortured him with a chainsaw, and he stabbed Abueloier again and then buried his body
Doctor Simi (Quackity) tells Cellbit to lie to Roier, but when Roier comes back inside, Cellbit tells him the truth. Roier says he already knew, but he's disappointed and sad and doesn't want to talk to Cellbit.
Roier says he seriously needs to consider whether he still wants to marry Cellbit, and runs off.
As Cellbit is about to warp away, Doctor Simi (Quackity) attacks and kills Roier. Cellbit cancels the warp and runs to protect Roier, but Quackity is able to get around him and hit Roier one more time (killing him) then logs out.
Cellbit sets up a spawn trap and tries to kill Quackity when he logs back in, furious that he tried to kill his fiance.
Eventually the three of them all meet up again, and Quackity tries to help smooth things over (and even resorts to flat out lying and saying it's a cultural difference). Roier says he needs to find his Abuelo's body.
Cellbit tells him it’s fine if he doesn’t want to talk or if he needs time to think and asks Roier to remember one thing, and then he hands him an Amaranth (a flower that means eternal love -- the same flower he left in a chest for Roier when the Federation infiltration plan went wrong)
They part ways, and Richarlyson hunts down Roier to talk to him. Richarlyson: He loves you very much, he was just scared that Abueloier would try to ruin the wedding. Roier: My Abuelo didn’t ruin our wedding. Cellbit did. There is no justification Richarlyson, imagine that someone came and tries to kill your dad. Richarlyson: But he’s sorry Roier: Yes, it’s fine, and I already forgave him, but right now I don’t want to see him, and I’m not going to marry him. First I want to know where my grandfather is. Richarlyson: But if you spend a lot of time away from him, he’ll be sad Roier: And I’m sad too
Ultimately, Roier says he still likes Cellbit, but he's sad and he wants to be alone.
Roier warps to Cellbit's castle to drop off Richarlyson, and barely says anything to him. Right as Roier is warping away, Cellbit says "I love you." Roier doesn't hear him.
Richarlyson chases down Roier to tell him Cellbit said he loves him. Cellbit chases after Richarlyson and tells Roier he doesn't want to pressure him. Cellbit: I just wanted to talk... I don't want you to feel pressured, I understand if you don't want to come back. [...] Even if you change your mind, I want you to know that the time I spent with you was very important to me, you were the only person who trusted in me. You were there when no one else was. Roier: Thank you. Thank you. Me... Me too Cellbit, but right now I'm sad, and angry.
Cellbit says goodbye in the usual way, calling Roier guapito and Roier responds saying “Goodbye Cellbit,” not calling him gatinho.
[Roier's POV] Roier wonders if he'll ever be happy again, and that Roier cubito being happy isn't canon. Roier: First the tacos, then Bobby… and now gatinho… what’s next? [...] Roier: Today they betrayed me again, they stabbed me in the back once more. Today, I’d put on my old clothes (Spider-man outfit) because I felt good… but not anymore.
[Cellbit's POV] Cellbit asks Dapper if he thinks he can revive Abueloier with a Death Totem. Bad doesn’t like the idea and is trying to discourage them, but Cellbit says it’s the only thing that can fix his marriage
Cellbit says he’s willing to sell his soul, to do anything to get Roier back, saying "There are no rules when you consider love" and "I WANT TO BE GAY MARRIED WITH MY HUSBAND"
Dapper says he may need someone related to Abueloier, so Cellbit says he’ll hold off the occultism until Roier comes back online.
Cellbit says he’s willing to sell his soul in order to get Abueloier back and make Roier happy. He says he will make this marriage happen – then elaborates and says, "but only if Roier wants to," he wouldn’t do it without Roier’s consent.
That's about it for now! We'll have to wait and see what happens next.

Chilshi death headcannons? Mainly with Senshi’s reaction and coping mechanisms after?
Hmm death headcanons…
Well for starters, we all know by now that Chilchuck is terrible when it comes to expressing and communicating his emotions, but he does exchange letters with Flertom from time to time. I don’t really think this aspect of his character would change after getting together with Senshi, and I think it would be nice of him to ask Marcille to give some of his pre-written letters to Senshi every few years or so.
And well… I honestly don’t really think Senshi would cope particularly well with Chilchuck’s passing, at least in the first few years. He is no stranger to tragedy, but Chilchuck being all old and sickly could remind him of his parents in a way, bedridden and weak and all. But, just like when he was a child, he has a fairly decent sized support group by his side, ready to step in and help out a grieving friend in need.
I think he’d be a honorary member of the small half-foot community on the Island, and an active one at that, especially after Chilchuck’s passing. Having learned and getting first-hand experience of what a half-foot can go through in life thanks to Chilchuck, he’d probably find closure and comfort in trying to make other half-foots’ lives easier.
Lots of ups and downs, good days being washed away by bad ones, seeing Chilchuck’s favorite mug making him smile one day, then pushing him into a deep depression the next. Still, once being offered to move into the castle, or just away from their shared home, he’d adamantly say no. That home is the proof of their love, their past, a life they built together, how could he disrespect it by rejecting it.
I don’t think he’d regret their love, he’d never do that, he’d just mourn the fact they were only given such a short while to spend together.
Despite Chilchuck only being part of his life for such a short while, I think he’d try to live life to the fullest, living for the both of them in a way. Going on adventures to see beautiful places, places they never got to see together because Chilchuck was too busy at his locksmith shop, spending more time with their loved ones - especially after getting reminded once again just how quickly short-lived races’ lives can fly past. He would go on long hikes, discover dungeons when life becomes too mundane to his taste, but he’d never stay away from their home for too long.
I honestly don’t really think he would visit Chilchuck’s grave all too often, but he would probably carry something of Chilchuck’s with him, the way he does with Grillin’s helmet. Maybe Chilchuck’s lockpick tools? They’re small, compact, and full of memories, and despite being in fairly decent shape - he tries to maintain them regularly, even though it isn’t his strongest suit - he’d never dare to use them, in fear of breaking them.
I don’t think his grieving process could turn violent, he respects the order of life too much to do something he might regret later. He has accepted this outcome of Chilchuck dying and him staying for a bit longer when they started their relationship, but it doesn’t mean he was ready to actually experience being alone so soon. Still, living a life full of regrets isn’t a tale worth telling once they reunite, so he aims to live life to the fullest.

okay SO, childhood friends idea inspired by a suggestion from @hyperfixatingonbowuigisohard and the Yoshi's Island games. I still don't have a story exactly but I do have a lot of Thoughts.
Mario and Luigi are around three or four years old, old enough to talk but not to really articulate what's happening or how they're feeling. It's during a time when the parents think grandma is watching them and grandma thinks the parents decided to take them after all, and when they get home everything seems fine so the adults don't bother to compare notes. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.
Bowser is a couple years older, and small kids develop so fast that most wouldn't want to play with one much younger ("that's a baby!!!") but he's so desperate for a friend even close to his own age that he jumps at the change to spend time with this strange child that stumbled into his castle.
But... little Bowser has been so spoiled by Kamek and the other servants raising him that he has no idea how to play nicely. Luigi is terrified of him at first and starts bawling the moment Bowser "orders" him to play. For the first time in his short life, Bowser has a problem that can't be solved by yelling, crying, OR throwing things. He has to control his temper and learn to - what's it called again? - share.
Despite that the week that little Luigi spends with him is the happiest Bowser has ever been, and even that short amount of time has such an impact on his personality that he almost seems like a different person by the end. He accidentally bumps into Kamek and says "sorry" without being prompted and Kamek is so shocked he has to have a lie-down.
But at the end of that week, little Mario suddenly shows up with a pack of yoshis who seem to know where the boys belong, and Kamek knows it's not right to just keep a lost child. He also knows that there's no way Bowser is going to agree to let his first-ever friend go away and maybe never see him again, so Kamek smuggles Luigi out while Bowser is asleep and tells him his family came to get him. It's technically true.
Bowser is devastated. He screams, cries, throws things, and finally begs, but there's nothing anyone can do, Luigi is already gone. He's miserable for months, but eventually the sadness turns into anger. If his friend wanted to come back, why doesn't he?
Time passes. The memories fade. He's left with equal parts fascination by and resentment of humans, and the subconscious belief that if you give the people you love any chance to leave you, they will.
Meanwhile Mario and Luigi have gone home, and both of them are suddenly talking a lot about dinosaurs. That's not unusual, kids love dinosaurs, the parents figure they saw a cool book or movie with one of their cousins. But while Mario seems to think of dinosaurs as big animals that you run around with, Luigi keeps asking when he can go see "the dinosaur" again. He gets upset when his parents don't know what he means, but he keeps asking, again and again, for months. Every time they think he forgot he asks again, and no movie or museum visit or plush toy seems to be the answer.
He draws a lot of spiky green balls in this time. Eventually the parents decide that "the dinosaur" must be his imaginary friend and try to play along. It doesn't work, Luigi is still upset, but he's young and eventually he really does forget.
Years later family members will still sometimes bring up "Luigi's imaginary friend the dinosaur" as a cute anecdote. It's a little embarrassing, but he doesn't mind it too much.
And then it's twenty-plus years later and Mario and Luigi find themselves in a world that's full of adventure and magic and - yes - dinosaurs. There's a feeling of déjà vu but there are bigger things to worry about at the moment, and neither of them have any real reason to think they've been to this world before.
The first meeting doesn't go well. Bowser kidnaps Peach, the bros come to her rescue, and it ends in a big fight. Bowser does have a moment's pause when he first sees the bros, but Mario takes that opportunity to attack him and it's downhill from there.
There are several more clashes as time goes on. Sometimes it's just Mario, sometimes it's both of them, but after enough meetings people start to notice... Bowser controls his temper better around Luigi.
At first Mario thought it was just because Bowser hates him specifically, but no, other people have noticed it too. For some reason when Luigi is there Bowser is actually capable of showing restraint. Not even Peach brings that out of him. It's weird.
(Mario does wonder if Bowser kind of has a thing for his brother, but he can't bring himself to say it out loud.)
Luigi isn't scared of Bowser either, not the way he probably should be, given the whole giant monster/serial kidnapper thing. It's too awkward to ask Bowser why he's different around Luigi, but Mario asks Luigi why he's not afraid, and Luigi can't put his finger on it. He just Knows that Bowser is more bark than bite. He's not sure why.
So that's where things stand; Bowser and Luigi are both more comfortable with each other than anything about their personalities or situation seems to justify, and nobody knows why.
...Except Kamek who, as the only adult in the situation, figures out who the bros are almost immediately and promptly decides to Keep His Damn Mouth Shut. That reveal is not going to lead to good things for him.
#bowuigi#childhood friends au#childhood friends#bowigi#green shell#luwser#super mario bros#bowser x luigi#might continue this later I do have a few ideas for how they start to catch on

A/N - I'm obsessed with this painting of the knight and the lady. It's so beautiful and represents Harwin and Daena so well
HOTD masterlist
"Not much can be said for the couple following years - Queen Alicent gave birth to another son, Prince Aemond in 116 AC. Once again, Princess Rhaenyra's status as heir was questioned, but the King ignored all the whispers at court.
On Driftmark, Prince Daemon wed Lady Laena Velaryon. Many took notice of this, as the wedding followed quickly after the death of his first wife, Rhea Royce. Not even a year has passed and the Rogue Prince found himself a second wife.
His daughter, Princess Daena, stayed shrouded in black for an entire year, following the death of her mother. The once vivacious princess was now a shell of her former self, refusing to eat or drink, barely sleeping, and confining herself to her chambers. Some believe she never truly recovered."
(Fire & Blood, Being a History of the Targaryen Kings of Westeros, by Archmaester Gyldayn)
~
116 AC
During the first two months after her mother's passing (before Rhaenyra's wedding), Daena visited the Eyrie, intending to speak to its ruling Lady, Jeyne Arryn. They discussed her inheritance and her new role as Lady of Runestone.
Daena knew that as Rhea's only child, she was the heir to Runestone and upon her mother's death, she became its new ruler. But there was just one problem. She was Daena Targaryen, not Daena Royce.
She had Royce blood. She was raised at Runestone and knew the castle better than any living soul and the Vale had a special place in her heart. But, she was a dragon. She was fire and blood. She loved her mother's side of the family dearly but, she could never part ways with her last name. She could never imagine herself as anything other than a Targaryen.
That is why she flew to the Eyrie and spent three whole days there, talking with Lady Jeyne for hours. She also reconnected with her distant cousin, Jessamyn Redfort, a 'dear companion' of Lady Jeyne.
~
Following Rhaenyra and Laenor's less-than-perfect wedding, Daena (with the King's permission) relocated to Dragonstone, where she spent most of her time, mourning. There was no way in the Seven Hells she would spend any unnecessary time at King's Landing, for she loathed the city. She also had no desire to go back to Runestone, even though it was her birth-given right and duty.
Ultimately, she settled for Dragonstone, the ancestral home of House Targaryen. Both she and her dragon loved the smoky air and gloomy atmosphere of the island. There, she could sulk in peace, without worrying about what the lords and ladies of the Red Keep would say.
With her, Daena brought Harwin and Hanna. Joy, the older and more outgoing of the two sisters, was married off to Ser Elmo Tully, the heir to Riverrun and the future Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. Initially, Daena was quite sad; she would miss Joy's lively spirit. But on further thought, she realized it would be a good thing to have one of her most trusted friends become the future Lady of Riverrun.
The months she spent on Dragonstone were quiet, peaceful, and healing. On the nearby island of Driftmark, her father and Lady Laena were wedded; not even half a year has passed and her father has already found himself a new wife. It stung Daena, the fact her father was so quickly able to move on from her mother's death as if she never existed. She did not attend their wedding.
But, Lady Laena was kind, beautiful, of pure Valyrian blood, and as of late, a dragon rider. Months before Rhaenyra's wedding, Laena claimed Vhagar, the largest dragon in the world. Vhagar was almost two hundred years old and was one of the three dragons Aegon I used to conquer Westeros. Only a bold spirit could claim such a beast and Laena proved she was worthy of riding the Queen of all dragons.
Harwin didn't know what to make of Dragonstone. The first time he laid his eyes on the island it was hidden by fog and mist, the smell of salt and smoke hitting his nose. The castle itself was a wonder to see; built by the last Valyrians, it was an homage to their once-powerful Empire. It was wholly non-Westerosi. Everything about it was made to honor and glorify dragons.
It was unnerving to live in, to say the least. A grim place, Dragonstone was built with arcane arts, fire, and sorcery. Draconic architecture could be found in every nook and cranny of the castle. Door handles, murals, candles, goblets, chairs, tables, mirrors, wall carvings, statues; the entire castle was shaped like one giant dragon. Harwin did not like the idea of living inside a dragon's belly.
But who was he to disobey his darling Princess?
Speaking of said Princess, she was leaning on one of the many balconies that were perched up on the walls of the castle. She seemed in deep thought, her gaze focused on the roaring sea. She looked so hauntingly beautiful, Harwin thought; her long silver hair was pulled up, and she was shrouded in black as she always was these days. Around her neck, she wore the Valyrian steel necklace her father gifted her.
He stood behind her, slightly to her right, watching, observing her. Her face was expressionless, but he could see so much pain and grief inside her lilac eyes. She drummed her fingers against the stone balcony.
"I wish to walk on the beach." She said quietly.
Harwin looked up at the sky - large, grey clouds were covering up the sun and it looked like it would rain any minute.
"Are you certain, Princess? What if it rains?"
"Then we'll be wet." She stated, turning to face him.
Her once lively face was blank, and Harwin couldn't help but notice how her new way of dressing made her look significantly older than she was. Before he could respond, she walked past him, quickly descending the long flight of stairs.
~
The bottom of her black gown dragged across the wet sand but she paid it no mind. The wind carried a scent of smoke and salt, something she enjoyed immensely. There was a certain coolness to the air which indicated to her it would rain soon. As someone who spent a lot of time high up in the air, she knew the telltale signs of an incoming storm.
"I received a letter from Joy this morning," Harwin said, breaking the silence.
She looked up at him. "You did? What does it say?"
"She says the Tullys are most hospitable and that they take great care of their future Lady."
Daena smiled at the news. She was glad the Tullys were taking good care of her friend.
"There's more," Harwin added and stopped suddenly.
Daena stopped as well, waiting for him to reveal more news.
"She is with child."
Daena was speechless. "That's wonderful! You're going to be an uncle!"
Harwin chuckled. "I suppose I will."
Daena's smile faded. "...I haven't received any letter from her since she moved to Riverrun. I think she's cross with me."
Harwin furrowed his brows. "Why do you think that?"
"Because...I didn't attend her wedding." She mumbled, nervously playing with her necklace.
Harwin chuckled once again. He took hold of her hand, kissing the inside of her wrist. Putting his other hand around her waist, he pulled her closer, their faces inches away. He placed his forehead against hers.
"It is not in my sister's nature to be resentful. It must have slipped her notice once she found out she was pregnant." Harwin said quietly, looking deeply into Daena's eyes. Her pupils were wide, making her eyes appear darker. She placed her other hand on his forearm.
"I- I suppose you are right." She whispered, her eyes falling to his lips.
He smiled at her, nudging his nose against hers, and kissed the side of her head. She sighed in contentment, placing her head onto his breastplate. The cool metal felt nice against her hot skin. He placed many small kisses on top of her head, holding her tightly against his body. He inhaled the scent of her hair - lemon and rose oil.
She felt her heart skipping a beat. Ever since her mother's death, she's been...distant and formal with Harwin, ignoring the way he looked at her, ignoring whenever he called her 'love.' In a way, she was punishing herself, abstaining from his touch, depriving herself of any joy.
Not anymore.
"Kiss me." She pleaded, looking up at him, her eyes full of desperation and desire.
Harwin was taken aback. They haven't had any intimate moments ever since Lady Rhea passed. Daena noticeably distanced herself, and he respected her wishes even though it broke his heart. And now here she was, begging for his love.
"Are you certain?"
Daena tsked and grabbed his head, pulling him down and connecting their lips. He stumbled a bit, not expecting her to react that way. He put his hands on her hips, squeezing her soft flesh. Her fingers were tangled in his dark curls, drawing him closer.
He grabbed the back of her head, deepening the kiss. He gently bit her lower lip, making her gasp in surprise, giving him further access to ravage her mouth. All the little noises she was making were spurring him on and he couldn't help but notice his pants tightening.
"Harwin..." She whined his name and it sent a shiver down his spine.
"The things you do to me, you pretty little thing...You don't even know." He groaned in her ear and the sound went straight to her core, making her clench around nothing. His hot breath made the hairs on her neck stand up.
"But I do...You have ignited a fire in my heart and it burns so sweetly I wish for it to burn forever. I wish for it to consume me whole."
His hold on her hips tightened and it ached slightly, but she didn't dare to move. A low growl left his throat as he inhaled her scent. "Those are dangerous words, little dove."
"I know you feel the same way." She whispered into his ear.
Before he could respond, the sky opened and rain started pouring from the clouds above. To her surprise, he picked her up and ran toward the castle. A gasp escaped her lips upon realizing her feet were off the ground.
For the first time in months, she laughed.
~
"WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" Hanna screeched as she saw the Princess and her brother enter the castle, sopping wet.
"We were just taking a stroll on the beach," Daena answered innocently as Hanna dragged her toward her chambers.
"Quick, Princess! We must change your clothes or you'll get sick." Hanna rambled on as they reached the room's door.
Daena chuckled at her friend's worry. "No need to worry so much, my dear. I'll be fine."
Hanna clicked her tongue and shook her head in disapproval, catching sight of her brother. "You too, Harwin. Go and change."
"Why of course, my Lady," Harwin said with a smirk.
"I'm serious!" Hanna hissed angrily at her big brother.
"Alright Hanna, dear, I'm sure Ser Harwin can take care of himself. Now, come and help me get out of this dress. I'm positively soaked." Daena said, pulling Hanna by her sleeve.
"Congratulations on your sister's pregnancy," Daena muttered as Hanna massaged oils into her skin. The light of the now-waning sun trickled faintly into her bedchamber. The fireplace was lit, warming the room and adding additional light. Daena was ready to retire for the day.
"...You know?" Hanna asked, her voice coated with surprise.
"Harwin told me while we strolled on the beach," Daena said, leaning back in her bathtub.
Hanna stayed quiet.
"What's the matter?" Daena asked.
"Nothing, Princess."
"Hanna. I know you. You've been unusually snappy today. Something's bothering you. Won't you confide in me? I thought we were friends."
"It's just- Joy's pregnancy. It made me think of my own life."
"Yes?"
"I'm afraid Father will soon marry me off."
"Would that be a problem?"
"I-"
A knock on the door interrupted their conversation. Hanna wiped her hands, got up, and went to see who was knocking. Daena could hear the measter's hushed voice. Hanna was back with something in her hands.
"A letter for you Princess. From King's Landing."
A sigh escaped Daena's lips. She perched herself up, picked up a towel from the side of the tub, and wiped her hands. Hanna handed her the letter.
Her eyes went over the lines over and over again. A frown appeared on her face and an agitated groan left her lips. She crumbled the letter and threw it away.
~
The Princess was in a foul mood this morning, Harwin noticed. He could see it in her eyes, in the way her jaw was tense, in the way her brows were furrowed. Instead of talking, she sighed, clicked her tongue, and rolled her eyes at everyone. She was annoyed, dare he say angry.
Why? Harwin didn't know.
They were now in Aegon's Garden - it was filled with tall dark trees, wild roses, and cranberries. It had a pleasant piney smell. Daena sat down on a large bench made of black stone. She patted the seat next to her and Harwin sat down.
She took a deep breath, taking in the scent of all the wildflowers. "This was always my favorite part of the island. I like how quiet and peaceful it is here. I've never felt such tranquility anywhere else."
"... I'm sure you have noticed my less-than-pleasant behavior today. I'm sure you've wondered why that is."
She handed him a crumbled letter. "This is why."
Harwin's brows were furred as he read it. "So, what does this mean?"
Daena sighed, looking down at her feet. "It means that as soon as I finish my mourning, the Queen will try and marry me off to a lord of her choosing. She will whisper in my Uncle's ear, just like her father did. She'll try and convince him it's for my own good."
"I would sooner jump into Vermithor's mouth and let myself get eaten alive than let her control my life."
Harwin smirked. He knew she would do it.
"There is only one course of action I can take." She said, turning to face him.
"And that is?"
"I need to find a husband, by myself."
Harwin's heart skipped a beat at the mention of her marriage. It would be a lie to say he hasn't fantasized about marrying Daena, or at least offering himself as a candidate for her hand. He never verbalized those dreams because he never thought himself worthy of her hand, let alone her love.
"He will be one lucky man, whoever he is." He whispered, looking at a rose bush in the distance.
"Yes, yes he will be." She said pointedly while looking at him. She grabbed his hand once she realized he wouldn't look at her.
"...Princess?" Harwin uttered. He was overwhelmed by the feeling of her warm hands wrapped around his.
"Harwin..." She called teasingly. A wide smile was on her face, a glitter of determination in her eyes.
"You don't mean-"
"You, silly. I'm talking about you. Marry me, Harwin."
He felt like somebody punched him right in the gut, his lungs begging for air. His heart drummed wildly in his chest as he processed her words. Daena Targaryen, daughter of the Rogue Prince, rider of Vermithor, the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, was asking him for his hand in marriage.
"I'm not worthy of you."
Daena did not expect those words to come out of his mouth. Why would he think that?
"Why would you say such a thing?" She asked more harshly than she wanted.
He stayed silent.
"If not you, then who? Who is worthy of my love if not you, my brave knight?" She inquired, her voice softer.
"I-"
"Do you not feel the same way? You...you don't love me?" She finally asked, cutting to the heart of the problem. Her voice cracked, tears welling in her eyes. This was the first time they had a conversation about what they were to each other.
Harwin took note of the uncertainty in her voice and the fear in her eyes; fear that perhaps, she was wrong and he never truly loved her. He needed to put her mind at ease.
He got down on one knee and held her hands.
"There are no words in any language on this earth to describe how I feel about you, how much I adore you. You have...bewitched my heart, body, and soul. Even in my dreams, I could not escape you. Countless nights I have spent thinking about you, praying to every god imaginable, and thanking them that I get to spend my life serving you - my darling Princess, the one who holds my heart.
If you told me right now to fall on my sword, I would. If you told me to throw myself off the Wall, I would. I would kill for you. I would die for you. I would follow you to the ends of the earth. If you banished me and told me to leave your side, I would if it meant you were happy. Gods, I- I never thought this day would come but, will you marry me and be my lawful wife?"
~
She couldn't believe her ears. Or her eyes. She was beyond herself, to say the least.
"Daena?"
Her mouth was dry and her tongue twisted. His words struck a chord in her heart and she felt like it would burst out of her chest from how loudly it was beating. Tears blurred her vision and she could feel his calloused hand wiping them off her face.
"No tears, my love. This is a happy occasion, is it not?"
She only nodded, not trusting her voice. More tears ran down her face as realization of the situation set in her mind. Harwin loved her. He loved her. He asked her to be his wife.
"Come here, beautiful." He said as he pulled her onto his lap. She placed her head on his shoulder, the cold metal of his armor helped calm her down. He brushed his fingers through her silver tresses. He could hear her sniffing and her body shook slightly as she held onto his body tightly.
"Harwin?"
"Yes, Princess?" He asked, looking down at her.
"I love you." She whispered, a little pout on her pink lips.
"I love you too." He whispered back, kissing her softly.
They sat in silence for a while, holding each other and taking in the scent of wild roses. Little birds chirped high above them and the wind whistled. They stayed there until the sun went down and the moon showed its silver face.

Cosmic Love
main masterlist || rhaenicent || requests
a/n: this is my first ‘a song of ice and fire’ universe fic i’ve written, as well as the first double character pairing fic i’ve written! i’m still getting the hang of it, so bear with me. i hope you enjoy it, friends! as always, if you want something, don’t be afraid to request it!
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ pairing: rhaenyra targaryen x alicent hightower
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ warnings: cheesy sexy tooth rotting fluff x 1000 with a little side of angst.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ description: based on the events during the season two finale and loosely inspired by ‘cosmic love’ by florence + the machine, Alicent has made the journey to Dragonstone to strike a deal with Rhaenyra in regard to the crown. Rhaenyra is blindsided by the unexpected visit by Alicent, especially as Alicent wants Rhaenyra to follow her into the great beyond. what happens if Rhaenyra and Alicent are finally honest with themselves about where they stand?
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ word count: 3.6k
DISCLAIMER: SOME OF THE DIALOGUE DOES NOT BELONG TO ME, IT BELONGS TO HBO!!!
Rhaenyra once again realized that sleep would not find her tonight. Of course, this was nothing new as of late, but there was still hope for improvement in her mind. The endless insomnia that seemed to never leave her would be the bane of her existence.
Ever since the death of Lucerys, Rhaenyra could never find a speck of sleep. Each time her eyes grew heavy, visions of her lost babe would appear to ensure sleep was never possible. It was now, more than ever, that sleep would improve her position.
The realm had its head turned to her and her opposers, and she would not be found lacking. With Daemon gone and some of her own army against her method of warfare, Rhaenyra felt hopeless.
She felt the flutter of her eyelids become heavy, slowly shutting them while thinking thoughts that brought good omens in hopes that tonight would be the night that she may get some rest. As her eyes shut, there was a knock at the door that was a tell tale sign that tonight was not the night for sleep.
Alicent’s held on to the rough, splintered side of the boat that was threatening to knock her off her feet. She had already regretted her choice as soon as she stepped afoot the large ship. The ocean was never her forte and this trip was only confirming her resentments.
She looked in the distance at the formidable island that lay for hundreds of years. She understood the significance, but she refused to acknowledge the indignation she held against it now. It was the home of her enemy, or so she thought. These days she felt her heart growing fonder for her once friend, hence her journey across the sea.
But these were not thoughts that she wanted to impede her brain at this time. They were too deep into the trifle that their indifference and misunderstanding had caused them. She must make haste in her quick thinking that had led her all the way to Dragonstone.
She was led off of the ship as soon as they touched land because wasting time was no option. Though speed was preferred, Alicent could not help but admire her surroundings. The castle and everything that it hugged was exactly how Rhaenyra described it to be. It all felt too surreal for Alicent.
Her fingers dragged along the cobblestone walls that prevented passerby’s from falling to their demise. She could feel the fire that lived here long before She felt it in her bones, and it was the same fire she felt that Rhaenyra had. Perhaps it was only in the name Targaryen, but perhaps it was much more than that.
Alicent approached the guards at the front entrance. “I am here to see Queen Rhaenyra,” she said plainly, even surprising herself by the address.
Each guard looked to each other deciding whether they would allow such a treachery to happen under their watch.
“I come unarmed and in need of confession in the late hour, I swear it.”
The guards took another look, even deeper this time. They studied her appearance; a light blue cloak with a hood to match, along with melancholy eyes. Against their better judgment, they let her through. Of course, this was not possible without the supervision of Rhaenyra’s own guard. He followed close behind and alerted another guard on watch that Queen Rhaenyra was expecting a visitor.
After completing the most daunting of their tasks, it was another struggle to weave through the castle. It proved well to have somewhat of a guide.
They reached a great room with a high ceiling. On the far side of the room was a tall staircase that led to another door. Alicent was asked to remain in the room and wait until prompted.
Rhaenyra prepared herself for whatever could be waiting beyond her quarters. A message delivered by raven could be waiting once again, news of Daemon, or anything that may cause her to lose even more sleep. What she did not expect was her childhood companion to be waiting on the other side.
As Rhaenyra followed her guard, she froze when she saw what was waiting for her.
“I had to see you,” said Alicent, moving closer across the room. Rhaenyra walked down the stairs, leaving Ser Lorent Marbrand.
“Who knows?” Rhaenyra asked.
“None save my protector. He laid down his sword at your gate.” Alicent’s voice was wavering with the weight of her regret. “I’ve been, I think…mistaken.”
Alicent explained the weight of the duty she had to carry all those years after Rhaenyra began to distain her. Her arms had been pulled in every direction possible, only finding moments to herself to indulge in the things that made herself happy.
Regardless of how she felt towards Alicent, Rhaenyra had changed. She was not the woman she was before. She was not the Queen she was before. She realized that now was the time for duty and honor, or so she thought.
Alicent explained that she had been wrongly led astray in her duties and priorities. She realized that there were very few times where she felt completely free, but she acknowledged now that her soul was peaceful. It was poor timing considering the realm’s current situation.
“I have been alone as of late. I walked outside the walls of the city and I felt a weight lifted from me,” she explained.
“How lovely for you,” Rhaenyra said, condescendingly.
“I thought, for the first time, what I would choose…if not for the duty I put before all else.”
Rhaenyra couldn’t help but chuckle at the sentiment. “Shall you cast your son down and rule alone?”
“No,” Alicent was quick to rebuttal. “I do not wish to rule, I wish to live. To be free of all this endless plotting and striving.
“The crown will pursue war and victory at any cost,” Rhaenyra sighed, hoping that Alicent was not naive enough to believe that she would be free of any repercussions.
“I…” Alicent began, “but as for me, I would take my daughter and her child and leave it all behind.
“It’s too late, Alicent,” Rhaenyra laughed.
Pathetic she was; Alicent that is. To think that after all this time she would be able to make freethinking decisions. She was entirely too deep into the war looming above their heads.
The hunger from selfish men could practically be smelled from miles away. There was no stopping their greed and desires now, not after the havoc that Alicent had caused.
“Oh, go then. Leave us behind, as you say.”
Alicent scoffed. “Rhaenyra.” Alicent walked away from Rhaenyra, almost as if she had given up on her original goal of coming to Dragonstone.
“Wander in the wilderness.”
Quickly, Alicent turned around facing Rhaenyra once again. “I came here to entertain you, or so I thought! Was it dim of me to believe that you may still have fondness in your heart for me? I see now that it was.”
“Alicent-”
“I came to ensure a way of peace, even at a price. I know the consequences of my actions and I will forever be reminded of them, but I want to make things right again. I knew your father well enough, and I was blinded by my own dignity and righteousness to see it was I who was mistaken; you have been the true heir.”
Rhaenyra was stunned by Alicent’s honesty. All this time she had taken her for a brainwashed fool, but it seemed that she had learned much in a short period.
“You do understand what this means and the allegations you just put out into the world? Your own son on the line, is that something you would live with?” Rhaenyra asked sincerely.
Alicent produced soft tears forming in the corner of her eyes. She knew the price she would pay for this treason, and yet she was willing to serve this sentence willingly.
“If I am to take the throne, I must put an end to the opposition. I must take Aegon’s head, and I have to do it for all to see. You know this. However you may try to evade it, you know this,” Rhaenyra explained.
Alicent’s tears grew and she held her head in her hands. She could not bear the thought of losing her own child, but the thought of throwing the entire realm into disarray because of his selfish decisions haunted her more. Both decisions could send her into deep despair, but which would bring peace to the masses?
“Choose,” Rhaenyra demanded. “Will you shrink from what you set out to do? Or will you see it through…and make your sacrifice? A son for a son.”
Both regents stared at one another with longing.
A son for a son. Rhaenyra knew the pain well, and casting this decision on another, let alone Alicent, was not made easily or even in good conscience. The thought itself made tears well in Rhaenyra’s eyes as well. They stared at each other and for once it seemed as if they shared each other’s pain. The pain of not only being a woman, but being a mother during these trying times they found themselves in.
Rhaenyra wiped away her tears. “You are much changed.”
“Let us be done with this, please,” Alicent begged.
“And what do I do with you now?”
“You let me go, to do what I promised. And you fly to the Red Keep in three days' time, and you take your throne. Or you take me a liar,” she scoffed. “I have neither weapon nor armor. My life itself is forfeit… I cast myself on the mercy of a friend who once loved me.”
Rhaenyra’s attention was pulled even more into focus at her words. “History will paint you a villain. A cold queen… grasping for power, and then defeated.”
“Let them think what they must. I am at last myself… with no ambition greater than to walk where I please and to breathe the open air. To die unremarked and unnoticed… and be free.”
Rhaenyra smiled fondly. “You speak as if from a distant dream.”
She could picture the two of them walking arm in arm across the courtyard to visit the Godswood as children. The distant dream was really a tried and true memory that was once loved by them both. They had missed each other so deeply but were afraid to admit it after Rhaenyra had felt so betrayed by her friend. Though, it was not Alicent’s fault at all as it was not her doing. It was simply another way for her father to gain the power and credibility he so longed for. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Then, the energy in Rhaenyra’s chamber had shifted; it became lighter and hopeful. There suddenly was an air of forgiveness as well as an unidentified desire present that was yet to be seen.
“Come with me,” Alicent blurted. And so the mysterious desire became quickly apparent.
There seemed to be no decent answer that Rhaenyra could give Alicent that she could possibly muster in the moment. “And why should I do that?”
Alicent came closer. “Oh please, Rhaenyra. Why wouldn’t you?”
Rhaenyra looked down nervously, shuffling her feet. “I have my own duties, I have-”
“Would you please shed your act for one fleeting moment, I beg!” Alicent shouted, causing Rhaenyra to step back in utter shock.
Rhaenyra was taken aback by Alicent’s fury. She was angry now, but she did not quite know who she was angry at. More than likely it was herself that she was angry at, angry for being so blind all this time.
“I have not forgotten about the wish you so hopefully cast upon me that I declined against my better judgment.”
“May you remind me of this request?” Rhaenyra spat. Even though her tone was harsh, she felt fullness in her heart for the first time since she had all of her children surrounded in her presence.
“Back at the Godswood, when we were children,” Alicent said. “Oh, it sounds pathetic now, to think of the dreams we had when we were young. Alas, we were only children.”
“Yes,” Rhaenyra began, “we were.” She paused for a moment to gather her whereabouts, as well and dissect the assumptions that Alicent was alluding to. It was too early to be delving into such things, but Alicent had set out to do just that.
“A-at the Godswood,” Alicent moved closer, “do you remember what you once said?”
Rhaenyra was suddenly reminded of her words that she spoke as her head rested on Alicent’s leg. Additionally, Rhaenyra became frighteningly aware that the two of them were not alone.
Ser Lorent Marbrand stood near the stairs guarding the Queen in any attempt of harm. Rhaenyra waved him off.
“My Queen?” he pushed.
“You may go, Ser Lorent,” Rhaenyra demanded, but the guard stayed put. “You are dismissed!”
The guard left promptly after the Queen’s harsh display of dismissal. Rhaenyra waited until she heard the soft echo of his footsteps before continuing. She did not know exactly which direction this conversation may go, but based on the topics so far, it is one that she did not want others to be present for.
“Continue,” Rhaenyra said to Alicent.
“The words you spoke, your grace.” Rhaenyra was thoroughly shocked at the words that Alicent so carefully crafted. “You had said that-”
“‘I wanted to ride dragon back with you and explore the wonders far across the narrow sea,’” Rhaenyra finished.
“And eat only cake,” they both said in unison.
They remembered that time as if it had occurred only yesterday. They were children, friends, and enemies together. Secretly they hoped that they could be more.
“I cannot help but think, what if I would have agreed to those childish antics?” Alicent asked out loud.
“Why, after all this time have you decided to come crawling back?” Rhaenyra rebutted. “I would even argue that there has not been a more inconvenient time for such games!”
“This is not a game, Rhaenyra! Have I not poured myself out to you enough? What else would you have me do?”
They both paused to stare at one another. Rhaenyra stared deeply at Alicent, studying her expression and desire that she was so eagerly displaying in this moment. Alicent looked at Rhaenyra with the same childlike wonder that she once did. It was the same feeling, but also something brand new and foreign to both of them.
Rhaenyra walked away deeper into the room. She was looking for something she had stowed away a while before this that she thought might be of use. She walked back to Alicent with a slip of parchment in hand and held it out for her in hopes of taking it.
Alicent unfolded the small piece of parchment to reveal a ripped page of a book that she studied for a moment. She looked at Rhaenyra with her glassy expression.
“I assumed you had thrown it into the fireplace to let the flames engulf it,” Alicent said.
“I could not,” Rhaenyra shook her head. “Each time I found myself looking to it, I saw the happy memories of what once was.”
Alicent walked closer to Rhaenyra, causing her to shift in her place near the table. She had not come this close to Alicent since she disguised herself as a septa in order to make good with her, which did not bode well in the end.
Rhaenyra’s heart leaped when Alicent placed her hand atop of Rhaenyra’s. “We can restore those memories and be as we once were. I am sure of it,” Alicent said.
They looked in one another’s eyes to pinpoint the explanation of the longing they had been feeling the entire lonely night. “Let me set it right… please.”
Rhaenyra and Alicent never peeled their eyes away from each other in those fleeting moments. They stared so intently that Rhaenyra did not seem to notice that Alicent had taken her hand into her own, slowly raising it to her lips.
Alicent’s lips parted slightly as she brought them down to Rhaenyra’s hand. She left a gentle kiss upon the back of her hand, eyes never leaving the stars that gleamed within Rhaenyra’s eyes.
Rhaenyra could not wait any longer for the drawn out confession of her companion. She quickly placed her hand against Alicent’s flushed cheek, savoring the new warmth that she had been desiring for a decade.
“Oh, Alicent. We have been so blinded all this time,” Rhaenyra said, lovingly.
“I don’t believe we have been blind, only repressed from the things we truly wanted.”
Rhaenyra stroked Alicent’s cheek with her thumb, while also exploring extremely close to her lips. “How I have missed you.”
“Every light that guided me has been blown out since we have been apart. I always knew I would find my way back somehow,” Alicent explained.
Rhaenyra replaced her hand on Alicent’s cheek with her own lips. She could taste the heat radiating from Alicent’s skin, acting as motivation for her pleadings. Her lips moved closer to Alicent’s, but not without savoring each movement she made. Alicent sighed, her needs being fulfilled at last with the taste of Rhaenyra on her skin.
Alicent’s hands crawled to the back of Rhaenyra’s neck in hopes to guide her right where she wanted. To follow suit, Rhaenyra snaked her hands around Alicent’s bust to hold her close.
“It has been torture staying away from you these long years,” Rhaenyra whispered.
“And it is torture for me to watch you draw it out so,” Alicent whispered back, their lips almost touching. She waited for Rhaenyra to initiate their intimacy in hopes that Rhaenyra really did feel the same way she did.
Slowly, Rhaenyra lingered her parting lips over Alicent’s to graze each pair against each other. The breaths they took were shaky due to their built up nerves that started long ago. They yearned so much for one another that they were paralyzed with the realization that the moment they had waited for was here.
As if a mouse had spoken, Alicent spoke so softly. “I love you.”
“I loved you first,” Rhaenyra responded. “With all my heart.”
Rhaenyra broke the space between them with a kiss they had longed to share. Their kiss said more than they ever could to each other. It was a piece of them that became whole and healed again.
Both of them clawed at one another like rabid animals. Their hands were everywhere on their faces, their hips, their back, and spaces they never knew existed.
Their moans filled the air like a beautiful, intimate song. Rhaenyra tugged on Alicent’s long, curly hair, twirling it around her fingers as her lips moved against Alicent’s.
Alicent held Rhaenyra’s face in her hands as if it was the most precious jewel she had beheld. Her touch was gentle and loving. Alicent took her time to worship Rhaenyra just as she had been intending to do.
This was not near enough for Rhaenyra. She guided Alicent to the nearest wall to rest herself against. Rhaenyra pressed Alicent between the wall and her own burning body. Legends say that it took a special person to tame a dragon, but Alicent Hightower had Rhaenyra Targaryen wrapped around her finger.
Rhaenyra dug her nails into the side of Alicent’s neck while she left hot kisses along the side of her porcelain skin. There was barely skin left to touch by the time that Rhaenyra was done with Alicent.
Alicent had explored the most sensitive parts of Rhaenyra’s skin which elicited sensual responses each and every time. Her tongue was full of wonders as it snaked through Rhaenyra’s mouth and tangled within her own. They may savor the taste of each other for as long as they both roam the earth.
“Come with me,” Alicent hummed against Rhaenyra’s lips.
“And to where would we go?” Rhaenyra replied.
Rhaenyra felt Alicent smile against her lips, causing a roar of fire to be lit in her soul. “Anywhere, as long as it is with you, my Queen.”
“Mm, I could get used to that.” The words were like honey rolling off of her sweet lips. Rhaenyra could listen to her speak as long as she lived. “And what of the war? What shall we do with that?”
Their kissing ceased to exist for the moment which caused Alicent frustration. “Can we forget about that matter for the moment? The war will continue whether we are involved or not, you said it yourself. Bloodshed is inevitable.”
Rhaenyra studied Alicent’s face after she had spoken. There was an incessant need to be impulsive in her head which was frightening to her. She had never gone through those emotions, but there was a voice telling her to listen to the voice.
“Well, we had better get a move on then,” Rhaenyra said.
“You are quite serious?” Alicent laughed in disbelief.
“They say there is no time quite like the present, don’t they?”
And so, the two of them snuck around the darkened corridors of Dragonstone, weaving behind guards and avoiding questioning at all costs. Rhaenyra took Alicent down to the dragon pit for the first time. Syrax was Rhaenyra’s pride and joy, and it gave Rhaenyra great pleasure to fully show Alicent her world as she lived it.
Though Alicent had played her part in the Targaryen story, there was something incredibly profound about being in Dragonstone itself. Just like she had arrived, she could feel the furious energy down to the island’s bones. Real power had lived here for years and it was just getting started.
Playing a part in the Targaryen story took on a whole new meaning as the beginnings of a beautiful relationship bloomed between Rhaenyra and Alicent. They could sail and fly anywhere in the world, but home was such a pleasant place to start.

I made more fankids…
And a rival and best friend for Artie…
More info under the cut
Y’all already know my Shadamy kids but Sunny is now a former G.U.N. agent. She quit. The reason why is a mystery.
We got some Knuxouge kids! Mirage, Warden, and Prickle. Mirage was meant to become the next guardian of the master emerald, but ended up passing it down to her little brother Warden who wanted it way more than her and became an actual G.U.N. agent like her mother. She takes after her mother in that way. She’s ultra tall and Warden is mad cause she was already taller than him at one year younger. Also she’s trans. Good for her. Warden is the “serious” one who is really dedicated to being the next guardian. He’s got the braincell of the three and is a short king. Prickle hates everyone and likes to be alone in nature. Despite Warden being the next guardian, Prickle is the most in tune with the emerald and angel island in general and often communicates with Tikal’s spirit. But nobody else can see, so for example, Rouge sees him talk to himself and is like “who tf is he talking to”
Tailsream kids! Lars, Specs, and Posy. L.A.R.S. stands for Laboratory Assistive Remedial Software. He is an ai that Tails made shortly before Specs was born to help him in the lab that turned out to be sentient. After specs was born, Lars dedicated himself to protecting her and being the perfect big brother. So Tails was like “Welp, I guess I have two children now.” and adopted him. They say he’s “15” just because that’s how he looks and acts. Specs is best girl. She’s very safety-minded and polite and she carries around a seemingly bottomless backpack full of anything you could ever possibly need. She’s called Specs after her glasses but also for how she would help Tails in his workshop and list of software “specs” for him. Posy is a little monster who revels in creating chaos, but she’s cute so she gets away with it. Also, she likes to drag Prickle around to act as her Guinea pig and he lets her because he’s too nice to say no.
The Silvaze Twins! They both live with their mother in the palace since they never know when the future will go to shit again, and Silver is usually there with them acting as Royal consort. Ember was born a few minutes before her brother, making her heir to the throne, which both are 100% fine with. Ember strives to be the best heir possible and takes her job very seriously. She loves to study and also practices fencing as neither she nor her brother inherited their parents psychic or pyrokinetic abilities. Her brother, Cinder, on the other hand, hates being in the palace and prefers to goof off most of the time. He’ll often try to cause trouble around the castle, which Ember will usually try to stop, except when he occasionally convinces her to join in. While Ember enjoys more classical studies, Cinder is fascinated by dimensional science and time travel and longs to explore all the countless dimensions out there.
Finally, some neighborhood kids. While Sunny’s main group is Mirage and Ember, Artie has these two weirdos. There’s his best friend Peppy, a reckless, energetic mouse who loves going on misadventures around town but is often betrayed by her own clumsiness. She and Artie are constantly arguing over who is the other’s sidekick and often have to save each other’s butts, but one thing’s for sure is these two idiots are inseparable. Spot, on the other hand, is the local delinquent and Artie’s official rival. Why? Idk, it doesn’t really matter. After all “all heroes have a rival” although this rivalry is often forgotten in favor of teaming up to get the job done or just to hang out. However, they still definitely hate each other and don’t like each other at all. They totally don’t enjoy the bantering or have a crush on the other at all. Pure rivals
Also, Sonic doesn’t have kids, he’s just the cool pseudo-uncle who visits a lot and babysits. And they all definitely have big family get-togethers and family dinners all the time. Because found family is the most important family of all. Anyway, thanks for reading imma go nap.

Transfem Buggy anon, back at it again
Luffy beat the everloving snot out of Kaido. Luffy and his alliance freed Wano. Buggy likely couldn't have visited Wano - soon after the Last Island, there was the hot mess with Roger leaving, the crew disbanding, everyone separating, Buggy+Shanks Survival Mode, the execution, Buggy and Shanks Survival Mode 2 Electric Boogaloo, and by the time Buggy would even be feasibly ready to go, it would have been locked down.
She'd have never once been able to truly visit that place.
And now? Now she has the Guild. She has responsibilities, appearances to uphold, and she'd find out that Luffy has been named an Emperor Officially and Wano Is Free.
She... she wants her mom. Gods, she wants her mom.
She calls Shanks. Asks if he'd heard. Asks if he knows. And he says he was close by. He's so near that he could be docked by the morning. And Buggy aches. How can she make this work? How can she do this, Shanks, she doesn't know what she's doing, it's gotten so crazy so quickly, she's drowning in it-
And he offers an alliance.
A no-harm agreement. Some of his and some of hers, themselves both involved, to go to Wano for personal and professional reasons. Wano is, after all, the homeland of very talented samurai and smiths.
And Buggy realizes the Guild could probably recruit from there - at the very least, establish trade for quality goods. It's a bit far, but it would be worth it for the sheer quality alone - and it would boost the economy.
Shanks would be able to call it an adventure, would be able to set it as a vested interest bc of his history with Kaido, it could work-
Crocodile and Mihawk do insist on accompanying her - for surface level United Fronts, for private "don't fuck it up", for personal "why is she so interested no I'm not curious about her no I don't wanna know her better shut up-"
Shanks gets a kick out of it.
Buggy is so preoccupied with seeing the home Toki told her about, maybe even seeing Toki herself, she's practically vibrating. She's in better spirits than she has been for YEARS.
When they finally arrive, Buggy asks Shanks if she can use his room. He just smiles and nods. When she comes out, all three men are a little breathless bc she's done her hair so artfully, with an unfamiliar hair piece, a loop of flowers made from beads and painstakingly cared for. Her makeup is no less flattering, but the style has changed slightly. Her outfit is a short kimono with half cut sleeves and leggings. She wears it well, and it's only the fact that they know her, have been with her, that has them aware of the fact that she ISN'T in fact a local.
They go to town.
Buggy gets along with them famously. Shanks is a very close second, perfectly mannered, while Mihawk and Crocodile trail slightly behind, out if place and reserved. It's all wonderful, blissful for a few hours, business and pleasure together, before they get lunch at a small restaurant, and an older woman steps over, bows, and asks the blue haired pirate if she "is little Buggy? Lady Toki's girl...?"
Buggy's heart skips a beat.
Toki has been dead for some time now. She fell with the destruction of Oden Castle, may her soul find rest. But she'd been a very close friend, and Toki has told this woman about her loved ones, her children, her husband, her friends, her other baby who deserved a Wano that deserved her in turn. Toki had photographs, keepsakes, and they all were entrusted to her closest friend.
Buggy is emotional. Shanks offers her his arm, his shoulder, and the others are silent, supportive sentinels. The ones who knew her mourned.
Buggy visits her grave. Tells her mom all about herself now. About the things she's seen and done and learned, from the day she watched the Wano shores bleed into the horizon to the day Buggy came home, well and truly.
Crocodile and Mihawk feel as if they are intruding heavily, but Shanks stops them with a look. Buggy did not tell them to leave. She absently waves for them to take a seat with her.
Toki taught her many things - honoring the dead among them. She talks the process out, and neither of her lieutenants mention that she and Shanks both are crying quietly.
The two former warlords learn many, many things about their chairwoman on this trip.
WELEWDJUIWEGFJKIWBFBWEJKFBWEFJKLWENFKLWNEKLFNWKEFNKWLEFNLKWENFKLWENKLFNWELKFNWEKLFNKWLENFKLEWLKFWNEKLFNWEKLFNWLKEFNLKEWFN <- super normal and mentally stable reaction to this. I am SO normal about this (I am NOT).
This is just so beautiful. Buggy finding out her mother is dead but there's so much she can still enjoy in Wano after telling Toki everything that has changed in her life. I think she enjoys the trip and she finally feels at home because everything she knows is thanks to her. Buggy wants the three men to stay with her because she feels a little less alone, and they're surprisingly extremely respectful. I imagine Buggy talking to Hiyori and Momo and it kills me,,, It's so sweet. I think Crocodile, Mihawk, and Shanks are having a moment of peak realization and they're starting to be down down bad for her. Like. There's no coming back after this because Buggy owns their hearts fr. Also, she falls so many times with that kimono because she's still a failgirl and she isn't used to those clothes because the last time she wore one of those was when she was a kid. And yet she still looks gorgeous and like she belongs there.

I plan on visiting Cortes Island next week. Have you ever been (I assume you have) and if so are there any places you'd recommend visiting? Also any Hi-Note specific places or does it just vaguely take place somewhere on the island (or a specific but private location)?
Oh my god, if it's not weird to ask, could you take some photos of the place for me? No people, just the area...I haven't been there in literal decades and I have wondered how it has developed.
I definitely recommend combing smelt bay at low tide. There is so much sea life in the tidal pools and under the rocks! And I dunno if you're still allowed to take oysters off the beach for personal consuption[dinner] but if you are, take advantage of it! If you see a conspicuous boulder there that is dry during low tide but half deep in water during the high tide, I use to sit on it for hours and watch the tide come in. I gave that little past time to Margie, as well.
There used to be a house on the bay that sold ice cream from the porch, with a big sign that advertised it was open from sunrise to sunset. I really doubt it's there anymore--the couple that lived there were already old when I was there.
Hague Lake is a really lovely fresh water beach to swim during the hot days, there's a big rock/teeny island in the center of it that you can jump off of. Whaletown and Squirrel Cove will cover your basic amenities/shopping needs haha
There use to be a castle...that a guy built and allowed folks to walk through...I wonder if that's still a thing. There were also frequently held little fairs and festivals hosted by locals and such that were fun to attend, with good food. The hiking trails are beautiful also!!
Again, I don't know how much has changed! Please tell me how it is..!
In the story, the Hi-Note Trio lives near smelt bay on a little road called Hayes Road...The side of the road was lined with blackberry shrubs that we use to pick berries from and make jam with. Smelt Bay, within walking distance from Hayes road, is where Margie gets swept out to sea and is the beach where she meets cortes on the stony shore. Potlatch Road is where Raf had found her shambling back home in a briney, sea-battered daze...
The grassy area by smelt bay is where Raf, Margie, and Cortes would often go to sit down and maybe jam a little if the weather permited.
my image of it is a very lush, quiet island, with very, sparse traffic, hugely disconnected from the mainland. It used to be safe to hitchhike around the island, but I could not recommend it now without knowing its current character.
Oh, I am really happy haha I hope you like it there!! I hope it is not too different from what I describe--but I wouldn't begrudge it if it is. All things change.
#the place I remember and love might not exist anymore. The Cortes Island I know might only be a memory now.#but I am happy you are seeing it!#I hope it brings you even just a modicum of peace and happiness that it brought me.

there’s an interesting trend in kh of worlds and the way they change mirroring characters and the way they change that i really love - destiny islands which tends to be in and out of danger depending on how sora, riku, and kairi are doing, hollow bastion’s revival happening as riku gets away from ansem’s influence and starts slowly doing better, castle oblivion being a blank slate until aqua comes home (which there’s a mechanical reason for, sure, but the land of departure returning alongside the wayfinder trio also has a real thematic resonance), aquas exploration of the castle of dreams in 0.2 mirroring her view of the things that just happened to her, daybreak town not destroyed when its group is scattered but instead becoming the invisible scaffolding that the future is built on…etc etc! there’s a lot of cool examples of this! and the thing i’ve been thinking of all morning is that it makes the vision of scala in kh3 kind of devastatingly sad.
it’s…unclear at best if the scala we visit in kh3 is the real city, or some sort of dream or memory projection from xehanort (being literally inside the generally-not-well-understood kingdom hearts makes it a bit complicated) but it’s so strikingly empty and quiet. again this is partially mechanical - it’s a boss arena - but still. all the little details of life in the environment design, the little market you visit in remind, the chairs and cafes and posters make it feel lived in, but there’s no one there. it’s just xehanort. this final, terrible reflection of his childhood home, preserved perfectly, and he is the solitary person in it. it’s so fucking sad!
i think the end of kh3 does a decent job of humanizing xehanort even before we know him in dark road and even while he’s at his most villainous, and i think scala is a big part of that. like that intro cutscene of him just walking slowly through the streets…..gah. peepaw :(
#pers#kh#xehanort#dark road#sorry again for woobifying peepaw. welcome to xehanort apologia dot edu#i was doing fuckall and cooking in my kh3 save file and it was the one at scala and i just walked forward and saw that cutscene and got sad#thats his HOME!!!! its like the ansem fight being on destiny islands and how gutting that is#like idk xehanort you got kingdom hearts did it work did you absolve yourself of guilt did you find the end of grief?#or are you alone in a dead city and realizing what made this place was your lost friends hmmmm?#i love when kingdom hearts js about GRIEF!!!!!!! Pairing: Jacaerys x Rhaena
Warning: Targcest
Word count: 3.7k
Jace and Rhaena grow close while living at Dragonstone ~ Wholesome fluff
Read on AO3
In the quiet chambers of Dragonstone, the gentle clinking of a needle against fabric filled the air. Rhaena sat by the large opening of her balcony, sunlight streaming in and casting a warm glow over her delicate features. Her nimble fingers moved with practiced precision, embroidering a majestic dragon with shimmering scales onto a piece of rich velvet. She decided to model this one after Balerion, having already completed Meraxes, Vhagar, Caraxes, and Meleys. Moondancer's much smaller embroidery into lace had been the first project of Rhaena's, and Baela gleamed at the gift when Rhaena gave it to her during her visit to Driftmark.
As she worked, her gaze often drifted towards the training yard below, where Jace was once again engaged in a fierce sword practice. She used to sit inside, choosing to spend these hours daydreaming in solace. Moons ago, Rhaena moved her seat from aside the fireplace to the balcony to watch Jace and entertain herself while she worked. She smiled softly as he rushed back to his feet after getting knocked down by the much larger trainer. His movements had grown fluid and more graceful, his growing display of strength and skill never failed to captivate her. At her feet, little Aegon toddled around with his toy, interrupting Rhaena's quiet by giggling with glee as he tried to mimic Jace's sword swings with his tiny arm.
Rhaena couldn't help but giggle at the sight of the boy. With Daemon and his busy mother, she found this child was near her a lot. She didn't mind, being that he was sweet and didn't cry too much. Everyone else came and went as they pleased with their dragons, while Rhaena was here spending so much time at Dragonstone. Atleast baby Aegon couldn't fly away and leave her, at least not yet. The birth of Aegon had brought Jace and Rhaena closer. They had already grieved Laena and Harwin together, ate dinner together, lived together. But this was different. They shared a sibling now, and Rhaena felt they were now closer than cousins simply living on the same island. She thought about how this is such a Valyrian way of thinking. If she were in House Stark or Martell, cousins would be close enough.
The growing bond was evident even in Rhaena and Jace's interactions. Aegon's birth left both Jace and Rhaena spending time together fussing over the baby. She was always nurturing, but missing the chance to coo at her own loss brother Baelon. A new found appreciation was gained for Jace. Unlike Rhaena, this wasn't his first time being an older sibling. She assumed this is how Baela was when Rhaena was born, cooing over her younger sister. Jace's protective nature towards their young brother warmed her heart, and she found herself admiring him not just for his prowess with a sword, but for the kindness and patience he showed towards others. Especially her.
Rhaena blushed, looking down to regain focus on her needling.
Lost in her thoughts, Rhaena continued to stitch the intricate patterns of the dragon, the needle glinting in the sunlight like a tiny silver dragon's claw. She loved the image of ancient traditions, it filled her with a sense of contentment that she cherished. She had no suspicions Jace felt the same way about her, but he was careful with his intentions. He thought Rhaena seemed to be naive and oblivious to the strained relationship he held with his mother's new husband.
Busy with her stitching, Rhaena suddenly heard a familiar voice calling her name. Looking up, she saw Jace motioning to her, letting her know he was on his way inside. She had brought Aegon down to the common quarters to sit with his wet nurse and she approached Jace raising her eyebrows. His princely figure was cutting a striking silhouette against the backdrop of the ancient castle walls. His dark eyes sparkled with a warmth that always made Rhaena's heart flutter.
"Rhaena?" Jace said, his voice gentle yet commanding, "I was wondering if you would accompany me on a ride with Vermax."
Surprised yet intrigued by his request, Rhaena smiled and nodded eagerly. She couldn't help the warmth that spread across her cheeks upon accepting his offer. This was the first time he'd asked her. Rhaena rushed outside after changing her outfit, seeing Jace had also changed into riding clothes. He was glad his mother and Daemon were off to the mound, so he didn't have anyone questioning his sudden invitation to Rhaena. In truth, he had no errand to run, no excuse to take her anywhere. His busy schedule to train for future kingship had rarely given him free time to do this.
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow over the ancient walls of their castle, Rhaena approached Vermax, the majestic dragon that Jace had invited her to ride. Jace, ever the gentleman, was standing waiting for her and held out his hand to help Rhaena onto the dragon's back. Her heart raced with excitement as she settled in behind Jace, wrapping her arms around his waist for support. With a gentle nudge, Vermax spread his growing wings and ascended to the sky, the wind whipped through their hair while they soared through the air. The
The landscape unfolded beneath them, a breathtaking tapestry of rugged cliffs and crashing waves. Jace's strong presence in front of her filled Rhaena with security and warmth, and she couldn't help but feel a flutter in her heart. As they watched the sun slowly dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, Jace couldn't shake the feeling that was blossoming in his chest. He wanted to turn around and steal a glance at Rhaena, but decided it's better to watch where he was going.
A shadow lingered in his thoughts, the knowledge that Rhaena's father, Daemon, might not approve of their growing closeness. Jace pushed the worry aside, determined to savor this precious moment with Rhaena pressed close to him, flying into the evening sky and their hearts soaring as one. As they flew through the sky, the wind whispering in their ears, Jace still couldn't shake the nagging thought of Daemon's potential disapproval. That the man's icy demeanor was like a looming shadow over their blossoming relationship, and Jace was sure to notice how Daemon treated the young Aegon much more fatherly. Despite the exhilaration of flying on Vermax's back with Rhaena's arms wrapped around him, a sense of foreboding lingered in his mind.
He felt Rhaena sigh, nestling closer against his chest and with her breath warm on his neck, Jace felt a rush of emotions. Her presence recently was growing intoxicating, and the closeness between them ignited a fire within him. The way her soft curves molded against his body, the hint of her floral fragrance mixing with the familiar scent of Vermax—it was all too much for Jace to handle.
As they rode through the darkening sky, the heat of the moment and the adrenaline of their flight stirred something deeper within Jace. His thoughts strayed to places he knew they shouldn't, his mind painting vivid images of what could be if they dared to explore the desires that simmered beneath the surface. Jace's heart raced with a heady mix of longing and guilt, his grip on Vermax's scales tightening involuntarily. The relaxation of the flight, their clandestine closeness, and the nature of their growing attraction created a potent cocktail of emotions that Jace struggled to contain.
Lost in the whirlwind of sensations, he found himself using one hand to cover Rhaena's hand. Clinging to her as if she were his lifeline, his every nerve on edge with desire and apprehension. They descended through the now starlit sky, with only the beating of dragon wings and the rush of wind as witness, Jace and Rhaena danced on the edge of something beautiful.
The sounds of laughter and chatter filled the air. Inside the grand dining hall, the long table was adorned with flickering candles, gleaming silverware, and plates of steaming food. Rhaena sat at the table with a maroon dress, her eyes sparkling, Joffrey and Aegon on either side of her. Across from her, Jace, with his princely demeanor, sat looking regal, his eyes occasionally meeting Rhaena's with a slight smile. Lucerys and Joffrey were busy teasing each other, their laughter ringing through the hall.
Daemon, the stern and imposing figure of the family, sat at the head of the table, spoke to his wife and their usual dinner guest. It was usually a Lord or Lady from another house, and Jace was always the first to make their guest feel taken care of. As plates of roasted meats, savory stews, and freshly baked bread were passed around, the family engaged in lively conversation. Stories of the day's events and occasional jokes filled the air. Rhaena wished Baela and her grandmother could've been there. Amidst the clinking of silverware and the occasional outburst of laughter, she stole glances at Jace, her heart fluttering at the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled. The tension that lingered between them from their recent flight on Vermax was palpable, adding an undercurrent of feeling to the evening.
As the meal came to a close, and the last crumbs were cleared away, Rhaena felt a sense of contentment finally wash over her. She would never complain to her father about this but she had felt so alone without her mother, and feeling torn apart when she realized Baela would not be living with her. Rhaena wasn't close to her father, aware he wasn't the type of parent to give the warmth and love she'd heard from her handmaidens stories of their own fathers. She had come to Dragonstone shocked at the difference from Pentos. Pentos was lively, a big city with plenty of kids running around that she could make friends with. Now she was living among all boys, seeing as Rhaenyra had no daughters and the only girls close to her age being the occasional ladies who came to visit and the few girls her age that lived here. She didn't realize until then just how isolated she was and her growing introversion. But with Jace's reassuring presence, she was feeling different now. In that moment, as the candles flickered and the warmth of the hearth enveloped them, Rhaena couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and connection that bound them together.
The soft sounds of Rhaena's laughter echoed under the tree they sat at as she patiently corrected Jace's pronunciation of a High Valyrian word. Warm light danced in her eyes, reflecting the joy she felt in these moments spent with him. Jace couldn't help but chuckle at his own mistakes, encouraged by Rhaena's gentle teasing. These unofficial lessons of his were the only time he didn't feel pressured, earlier he'd get frustrated feeling the need to overcompensate. Rhaena's softness had a way to calm him down and reassure the young Prince. He watched as she moved her long shining hair back and his eyes crinkled at the corners as he tried once more, determined to get it right this time. Wrong again. The bond between them grew stronger with every shared giggle and every mispronounced word.
Outside, the gardens of Dragonstone bloomed with the colors of spring, a perfect backdrop for these late meetings. Ever since their first flight together, Jace would often steal moments away from his princely duties to walk with Rhaena among the flowers, their voices hushed in conversation. In those stolen moments, he would slip small gifts into her hands, tokens of his affection. Whenever he got the chance, he would taker Rhaena into the skies with him. He knew she wanted a dragon, and was wanting her pale pink egg to hatch but he was secretly glad it didn't. He wanted her with him, and felt pride knowing he could give her that. Rhaena, in turn, would eagerly help Jace navigate the intricacies of High Valyrian, her lilac eyes sparkling with enthusiasm as she explained the nuances of the ancient language. It was very difficult so she was grateful for the lessons Laena had given her, and for the first time, she was in a position of teaching and having more knowledge than him. A stark contrast to him explaining the many different commands he gave Vermax.
"Egros. This is an easy one." Jace repeated the word she pointed to on his book, pronouncing it correctly. Rhaena beamed with pride at his progress while her eyes traveled down to the weapon attached to his belt. Her expression quickly shifted when Jace asked her what the word meant. Without missing a beat, Rhaena quietly replied, "Knife."
Her gaze stayed on the knife that Jace had tucked in, a blade that held a significant memory for both of them. It was the very same knife he had when they first met, during the intense confrontation with Aemond. The memory of that tumultuous event hung heavy in the air, the fear and tension of that moment still straining. Rhaena's eyes filled with sorrow as she recalled the adrenaline-fueled clash, the unnecessary danger they had faced together.
Jace noticed the shift in her mood and gently took her hand in his, offering a reassuring squeeze. "It's ok, Rhaena. We stood together then, and we always will," he murmured, his voice filled affection. As Jace's fingers grabbed at the knife, instinctively wanting to remove it from it's hilt and show her. However, Rhaena couldn't help but feel a pang of disapproval tugging at her heart as she watched him. This blade had once been a source of danger and caused so much chaos.
"Jace, I... I don't like seeing that knife out," Rhaena began, her gaze pleading with him to understand her unease. "I know it's important to you, but it reminds me of a time I wish we could forget."
Jace's brow furrowed, before returning it to it's place. He had to remind himself that she wasn't Baela, the older girl loved play fight with him and marvel at weapons when he flies to visit her and his grandparents.
Rhaena's eyes flickered as she shook her head, the gold in her locs clinking together. Her voice tinged with sadness and frustration. "I don't understand, Jace. I don't understand what's between you and Aemond, why we have to avoid King's Landing and can't patch things up with the rest of our family. She thought to her uncle who was so nice to her, he'd send books and even invited her to visit his grand library. She was unsuprised and sad when Daemon found the letter and threw it away, declaring that they wouldn't be taking her to King's Landing for a visit.
She continued. I don't know why there's so much resentment. Why Aemond was so mean to me."
Jace's features hardened as he remembered Aemond taking out his frustration on Rhaena, "I'm sorry, Rhaena. I didn't realize... I'll put the knife away," he vowed.
A wave of guilt washed over him. He realized the weight of the chaos that Rhaena and Baela were entangled in immediately upon their return to Westeros. With a heavy heart, he leaned in.
"I'm so sorry, Rhaena," Jace began apologizing again, his voice tinged with remorse. "I should've kept my emotions under control, made sure you and Baela were shielded from all this mess with my uncle." He sighed, thinking back to Harwin Strong and hearing about his brutal death.
"I promise to stand by you, especially in the troubling times to come. I'll always protect you, dear sister."
The heartfelt declaration was sealed with his gentle kiss, symbolizing their unbreakable bond and the unwavering support they promised each other in the face of any adversity. Feeling a surge of protectiveness and affection towards Rhaena, Jace had reached out, gently cupping her face in his hands. Their eyes met, a silent understanding passing between them. In that moment of shared vulnerability and unspoken emotions, Jace leaned in, pressing tenderly into Rhaena's lips.
The world around them seemed to fade away. Jace pulled back, his expression reflecting the deep emotion that surged through him.
"You mean everything to me, sweet Rhaena."
He marveled at Rhaena while kissing her again. She was more fragile than him, but could hold such strength in her gentle presence. As Jace used his tongue to graze her's, he appreciated replacing the usual aggression he felt he had to muster when speaking to Daemon or engaging in training sessions with a tender and protective aura whenever he touched Rhaena.
In those moments, his hands, which were accustomed to wielding swords and fighting in the yard now moved with a gentle grace as they traced the contours of her delicate features. His touch, once fueled by intensity and determination, now exuded a soothing delicacy.
With each caress, Jace's actions spoke louder than words, conveying his unwavering support and love for the precious girl who had captured his heart.
Jace's words were accompanied by a tender caress of her cheek, the gentle gesture conveying his unending devotion and affection. Rhaena melted into his arms, cherishing the moment of comfort and intimacy with her beloved Jace. The shared vulnerability of their confessions and the intensity of their bond only fueled the growing attraction between them, igniting a powerful desire that burned brightly within both of them. Rhaena's eyes flickered with desire, the heat of her blush reflecting her inner turmoil.
As the night enveloped the garden, casting a soothing glow over the flowers and herbs, Rhaena and Jace refused to leave their tender embrace. A promise of love and the stars twinkled above them, offering a celestial witness to the moment of pure emotion that passed between them.
Moons had passed since their first kiss, and the bond between Rhaena and Jace had only intensified. Jace found himself seeking any excuse to steal moments alone with Rhaena, cherishing each stolen kiss and secret embrace. On a quiet evening, as the castle lay hushed in slumber, Jace found himself in Rhaena's chambers. The room was bathed in the soft glow of moonlight filtering through the windows, casting a silver sheen over everything it touched. Rhaena had just given him the embroidery she made portraying Vermax's mix of colors. Jace favored it. His heart raced with a mixture of excitement and nervousness as he lay beside her on the bed, his hand reaching out to gently brush a stray loc of hair from her face.
With only the sound of their hushed breaths filling the room, Jace leaned in, his lips meeting hers in a sweet and tender kiss. The world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them caught in a moment suspended in time. As their lips lingered a gentle rustle of fabric caused Jace to pull back slightly, his heart skipping a beat. He knew his mother and Daemon was off the island, having flown off somewhere, he didn't bother to care where but them leaving the castle afforded him rare moment of solitude with her. Jace wouldn't dare be here if Daemon was lurking about.
With a shared glance of silent understanding, Jace and Rhaena let their inhibitions fall away, allowing themselves to revel in the stolen intimacy of the night. In the quiet sanctuary of her chamber, their love bloomed like a delicate flower under the moon's watchful gaze, each stolen kiss a testament to the depth of their affection. Rhaena seemed to him more enchanting than usual, her eyes seemed to glow with a mixture of innocence and desire. The air between them crackled with an undeniable tension, a silent understanding passing between them.
Without a word, Jace's touch more urgent more primal than before. His hands and lips moved with a newfound intensity, tracing the curve of her jaw, the line of her neck, igniting a fire that burned hot and bright within them both. Rhaena's breath hitched at the sudden change in his demeanor, a thrill of excitement coursing through her veins.
Feeling his rougher touch, Rhaena let out a soft gasp, a shiver of anticipation running down her spine. "Jace, I can't wait for you to be my King," she whispered in confession, the word King slipping from her lips like a forbidden promise, a term of endearment and acceptance that fueled the flames of the young Prince. Jace's eyes darkened with a hunger, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he slid on top of her and drank in the sight of her beneath him. The title he didn't yet possess but she bestowed upon him sent a jolt of electricity through his body.
She seemed to realize the effect her words had on him when she placed her hand on his chest, running her fingers through his curled hair.
"I want you, Jace," Rhaena whispered in his ear. His breath caught in his throat as her words filled him with a surge of confidence and purpose. The young prince had never felt more alive, more certain of his destiny and the future he would share with his precious Rhaena. The world around them seemed to fade away when he slipped his cock inside her, leaving only the two of them and the unbreakable bond that connected them. Their heavy kissing seeming to have already prepared her body for him, allowing him to move with fervor. He wished he could stay in her wetness forever as he grunted on top of her.
"Rhaena, my sweet Rhaena," Jace murmured, his voice a soft caress. "You light my days."
Rhaena looked up at him, her eyes shining with affection. She didn't say anything in response, but just smiled.
They remain intertwined with the sounds of their passion, creating a symphony of love that enveloped them in its embrace. In that moment, there was only them, two souls bound together in a love that knew no boundaries.
Rhaena was no fool, aware that her father had no intentions on marrying her to Jace. She decided she would would enjoy him for now. For now, she could only anticipate the next time she could spend with Jace.

Arkhelios Adventures
"Your Majesty, it's so great to see you again. Come, sit down. I've arranged for tea to be served if you'd like."
King Liam of Crystal Cove was a timid creature. His parents had been murdered when he was a child, and he had been raised under the thumb of King Ben Siew to be a compliant puppet to Twikkii Island's needs. Ben had married him to his granddaughter, Celeste, who had run the country for Liam until she and Charlotte Maricourt attempted to kill the Grim Reaper with the full force of the Strangetown coven. Since Celeste's death, Liam was trying his best to rule effectively and was utterly failing. His daughter, Theodosia, had been raised by her mother to force her father to abdicate the throne upon her mother's death, but Liam had refused to budge. The throne had been his mother's final gift to him and he wouldn't release it until it was his time to join her in death. It would be him who faced off against Claudia, even if Theodosia insisted on helping him.
Claudia was more than fine with the arrangement. All she needed was her heir by her side, and her number one secret weapon, Theo.
"How kind of you," Claudia replied dismissively. "It's a bit too hot for tea, don't you think? This meeting shouldn't take very long anyway."
"We'll see," Liam answered, attempting to sound authoritative and failing. "We do have so much to talk about."
Claudia only smiled in response. With a practiced nod, she gestured towards Theo. Victoriana walked to her mother's side (though two paces behind her at all times as appropriate for an heir). Theo nodded stiffly and marched carefully towards the front of the palace. He'd been doing lots of training with the queen lately since school was out for the summer and was loving every moment of it. He got to sleep in a castle, in a luxury bedroom all to himself. He'd been allowed to visit his parents twice now, but could only call or text Adam. Adam's parents had decided to keep Adam close to them for the summer and had forbid him to be alone with the demon hybrid until school resumed. Even if Theo's powers had been healed with divine intervention, neither Edana or Ewan wanted to risk another possible injury to their son.
"So, let's just get this out of the way," Theodosia began. "The Harvest Moon Ball will not be held this year. Our sovereign ruler has given his final decision on the matter, and you won't change it."
The crown princess glared at Claudia, but Claudia didn't seem to notice. Theodosia's wife, Charlotte, had gladly abdicated the Pleasantview throne to Claudia years ago, but Theodosia still had mixed feelings on the matter. True, Claudia had a better claim to the throne, and Charlotte was almost universally hated there, but the daughter of the Red Queen had to have some sway there.
But Theodosia was failing her mother's guidance. She had been too blunt, too quick to offer her opinion. Claudia had seen her true emotions on the matter, but Theodosia had seen nothing of Claudia's.
"Of course," Claudia responded, looking appalled at the insinuation of her having come to question the king's decrees. "Pleasantview has allowed your country to govern itself for what, seventy years now? My grandfather saw the potential in a second empire during his rule, but I made a very sincere vow to your nation upon taking the throne. Under my rule, you're free to make any decisions you'd like about your country. I do hope that Victoriana extends you that same courtesy when she takes the throne someday."
"You don't have a drop of Alioto blood in your veins," Theodosia said sharply. "My grandmother is your aunt on the Goss side only. You can claim relation to any other kingdom but this one. Your claim would have to go back all the way to the first emperor, who lived centuries ago. You don't know the first thing about Crystal Cove. We aren't so helpless these days."
"Ladies, please. Let's not let the heat get the better of us," Liam pleaded, looking sternly at his daughter. "Queen Claudia has sworn to keep the peace, and so have I. There's no need for arguments."
"It would help me learn about your country and traditions if Princess Isadora transferred to Princess Zarah Academy," Victoriana chimed in. "Queen Maura’s children and King Charley's grandchildren attend Pleasantview academies, and they love it there. It would no doubt be beneficial if your future queen studied alongside her royal peers. It would be unfair for the other future monarchs to have strong friendships with each other and poor relations with Crystal Cove."
"I'll consider it," Theodosia replied, in a tone that clearly conveyed the message that she would never consider the option. "So, if you're not here to complain about the ball being cancelled, I'm curious about the reason for your visit. We love hosting foreign royalty, but I wouldn't want you to waste your valuable time on something that could have been sent by message. I'm sure there's much to occupy your time in such a large nation."
"That's a good point though. Isadora is rather isolated from her peers. My own mother was born in Pleasantview, and we have a long history of friendship between our nations."
Theodosia cleared her throat, cutting off her father.
"Dad, Isadora loves her school. It's important to maintain our traditions and not be swept up by the culture of larger nations. Especially nations that have a history of making us their colony."
"I'm glad that she's happy with her education," Claudia replied calmly. "Crystal Cove has fine educational facilities. We have a few witches in Pleasantview who like to sign up for the occasional course here to experience your culture. The last one I approved to take a class abroad made me a little crystal tree in thanks. I proudly display it in my formal entryway."
Liam looked like he was about to say something in response, but Claudia cut him off.
"I'm sad to hear about the cancellation of the Harvest Moon Ball, but I can understand your concern for safety. I've come today to share some news I've received about another concerning threat."
"Another assassination attempt?" Liam asked, gasping audibly. "Another attack on Twikkii Island?"
Claudia shook her head solemnly.
"I'm afraid it's not that simple. This is a global threat, I'm afraid. It's likely related to the attack that nearly claimed Queen Maura’s life, but it's been only spread by whispers so far. The dead are returning to our realm to warn us of what may come."
"The dead are returning? Is this-could it be...."
Theodosia trailed off, looking uncharacteristically unnerved by the Pleasantview queen's words. When she had gathered her thoughts, she cleared her throat and spoke with purpose.
"Does this concern our shared brother? Has he been...experimenting with the teachings of his mothers?"
For once, Claudia was caught off guard by a question and she didn't enjoy the feeling. She had prepared to talk about the names of dead reapers being mentioned to the living, but not about Travis.
Why would she bring up the shy, sensitive warlock who loved reading more than making a friend? To Claudia, Travis was a sweet, talented young man, who just happened to be her brother. Theodosia clearly didn't feel the same way.
Travis was Theodosia's biological brother by their mother, Queen Celeste, and a powerful threat. Celeste had been a dark, ruthlessly trained witch, and Theodosia was still learning about new terrible things her mother had done. His other mother, Charlotte Maricourt, had been an ancient witch raised in the Old Ways of Strangetown. Entire books could be written about her dark legacy. Travis was made by these two master magic users to sacrifice in their insane scheme to murder the Grim Reaper. Theodosia had seen the rituals for herself the day her mother died and remained terrified of Travis' potential, despite him having grown up into a shy, respectful teen.
Travis was Claudia's biological cousin, and Claudia was no stranger to the darkness that ran in their shared genes. Pleasantview lived at least a little bit in fear of their queen because she descended from tyrants and murderers, and that was something Claudia had been trained to promote. She knew the grey areas of her life and how to reign in the darkness without ignoring it fully. Celeste had been a terrible person, but Claudia's grandfather had instilled fear in the hearts of nations around the world. Crystal Cove had fallen to him in an afternoon and the things he'd done were too terrible to repeat. Hell, Theodosia was related to him as well on her father's side, but she wasn't his direct heir, so she got to be presented as innocent and kind. Claudia knew how Theodosia felt in secret, being a descendant of deranged monsters, but Theodosia wasn't using this insight to help others. Instead, she was placing her own fears and resentment on an innocent child and expecting praise for it. The Goldmans believed in the good of humanity and in redemption. Claudia's father adopted the unwanted son of the sister who had murdered him as an infant and had never once questioned Travis' heart. Theodosia had been telling the truth when she pointed out that Claudia had no Alioto blood in her veins. Maybe if she did, she'd be an asshole to innocent children too.
"No, it doesn't concern Travis," Claudia spat, trying to reign in her anger and failing. She paused to collect herself before continuing. She had business to conduct, and punching a foreign crown princess wasn't going to help anyone. "Ghosts have been seen for the first time in centuries. Have you received intelligence on this?"
"No," Liam answered, looking at his daughter, who shook her head. "I haven't seen any ghosts personally or had reports of them. Honesty, I've always thought that ghosts weren't even real since people like your parents apparently guard the dead so well."
"They usually do. Unfortunately, things happen out of their control sometimes. I believe the ghosts are trying to tell us something important. It's my intention to learn what they want, and my parents have suggested that I might have more success learning that information with a party. Spirits love gatherings of mortals for any reason, but especially when that gathering involves food and dancing. Blood magic is apparently stronger during celebrations involving food and thanksgiving, so their theory is that ghost might feel the same."
"Is that so?" Liam asked, leaning back in his chair. Beside him, Theodosia glowered.
"Now that you've cancelled the Harvest Moon Ball, I have to adjust my plans," Claudia continued. "You see, Lukas also fears what ghosts could mean for our world and has begged me to continue my investigation."
Her words had the desired effect. Liam froze in place, terrified of the mere mention of the being who had taken his throne when they were a teenager. Some nights, he still woke up in a cold sweat at the thought of the deity returning. Claudia had him just where she wanted him.
"So, you see, since the Harvest Moon Ball will not be held this year, I plan to hold my own ball to continue my investigation. Because your ball was cancelled, I thought it was only fair that I hold mine in Crystal Cove so that your subjects don't have to travel to Pleasantview to attend it."
"You don't have the right to just announce events in another country," Theodosia seethed. Her father had suddenly gone quiet. "You can't just rent out the ballroom. That's owned by the royal family and I don't grant you permission to use it."
Claudia smiled, her face perfectly calm.
"I wouldn't dare assume to use your property in Crystal Cove. That would be incredibly rude of me. No, I was planning on holding the ball in the piece of Crystal Cove that I own. The ball will be held in the Honora St. Julien Tower, which is the legal property of Pleasantview, so you don't need to worry about helping in any way. You're rightfully concerned about safety, but I can guarantee that my security team, several units of my military, and the brightest stars of my coven will be on hand to protect anyone who attends. Your whole family is invited, of course,"
Theodosia's face was turning from red to purple at this news, while Liam stared at the table, trying to form an objection to this plan.
"Your military in our streets? Your coven out hexing and cursing our magic users while people dance in the background? You don't have the right!"
"Well, actually, my mom legally owns the Honora St. Julien Tower. It's, therefore, a part of Pleasantview, and she can do what she likes in Pleasantview," Victoriana added quickly. This wasn't entirely the plan she had discussed with her mother before arriving here, but it was close. The queen had intended on elaborating on what she knew of the threat concerning old, dead reapers, but Victoriana could practically see steam coming out of her mother's ears. Clearly, the idea of sharing information had been abandoned. Victoriana was okay with that. She hadn't been briefed in full by her mother, but even she had not appreciated the princess' lack of respect for her Uncle Travis.
"You can't be serious."
"Oh, hey! Her Majesty thought you'd be here. I'm supposed to delay you while they talk a bit. Then you can barge in all you like."
Theo smiled at the new guests. Claudia had assumed that just because Lukas had asked for her help, they would have also reached out to a second person just in case. Usually, that meant the genetic line of champions they maintained to serve their wishes.
And here they were, standing before Theo. Varia, Vrai, and Leo all waved at the teen. It was just like Claudia had predicted.
"They're making you deal with this too?"
Vrai was old and tired and sick of politics. If his son hadn't nearly literally pushed him out the door, Vrai would be happy at home, ignoring Lukas' call.
"Dad, you were the crown prince of Strangetown when you were young. Politics is what you're good at, and it's not an inconvenience to spend time with me and your granddaughter on a nice day. You're still a prince, actively supported by Uncle Charley. Stop whining like a child and act your rank. We want the king to take us seriously."
Leo stared at the sky, wishing for a hole to swallow up his father and remove him from his sight. Vrai had never been a good father, and despite it being his destiny to serve, he was also a pretty lousy employee for Lukas. He sometimes behaved well when hanging out with his brothers, but overall, Leo found tolerating his father impossible. He would certainly never treat his own kids like that. It was getting to the point that if Vrai showed up properly dressed and with his mouth shut, Leo could usually get some work done. He'd been hoping that his father might pick up the conversation at the royal table and take an interest. He could make their job easier, though Leo knew he wouldn't.
"Theo! It's great to see you again! When did they let you out of school?" Varia ran to Theo excitedly, crushing him with a hug. "I haven't seen Adam in forever either. You must have so much to talk about. Was it a nice school? Did you have any favourite teachers?"
Theo laughed.
"It was the worst. Oh my god. They took my phone and I couldn't see Adam at all. I met Lukas there, though. Did they mention me at all?"
"Hmmm. I don't think so, but I don't always see them. You'd have to ask my dad. He doesn't always let me come on work trips, so I miss out on all the gossip. I have to spend more time in school before he'll let Lukas ask anything of me."
"My dad's ex-girlfriend hired me as a summer intern without asking me," Theo commiserated. "It's really cool, and I get my own room in a castle, but sometimes I wish I was back at school with Adam. Your dad probably has a point about not committing to serving a deity before you've learned how to handle them, though. Following the queen around is sometimes pretty boring."
"Your Majesty King Liam. Your Majesty Queen Claudia. Your Highness Princess Theodosia. Your Highness Princess Victoriana. I've come to talk with you all on a matter of some urgency." Leo stood politely beside the table of frustrated monarchs, waiting for an invitation to join them. The Crystal Cove royals looked furious, while the Pleasantview royals seemed to be enjoying themselves.
So nothing new then. This was how Leo had always seen the royal families act with each other. He had been born and raised in Crystal Cove, but he'd never felt respect for a monarch until he'd spent time with his Uncle Charley. Strangetown may be strange, but at least it had a functioning government.
"Of course you may join us," Claudia declared, once again acting on behalf of the king without permission. "If you have something important to discuss, then we are all glad to hear it. Victoriana, go sit with Isadora at another table and continue to think on our conversation while we speak with Leonid."
"Thank you, Your Majesty," Leo said, pulling Victoriana's abandoned chair over to sit at the table.
"Is this news from Lukas?" Liam asked wearily. "If it is, then Her Majesty has already informed us of Lukas' displeasure with our choice about the ball. We were just discussing that matter when you arrived."
"No, not directly from Lukas," Leo lied. "From my uncle, the king."
The king and his daughter shared a worried look at these words.
"King Charley sent you here? For what purpose?"
"About the cancellation of the Harvest Moon Ball," Leo repeated, eliciting a deep groan from the Crystal Cove royals.
"Not you too," Liam exclaimed. "It's just a ball! We have several of them each year when it's safe to gather. Doesn't anyone else have a self-preservation instinct? The Queen of Twikkii Island nearly died, and that was just a barbecue!"
"That's why my uncle has sent me to speak with you," Leo replied. "He's been tracking the threat of this spiritual unrest, and he wants to hold an event in place of the Harvest Moon Ball. The barrier between life and death is thinnest at the time of the ball, and the spirits will be displaced if their usual schedule is interrupted. If you are unwilling to play your part in the maintenance of the world, then His Majesty will do so for you."
"It's just a ball! Besides, Queen Claudia has already threatened to have her military in my streets to hold her own ball in place of the Harvest Moon Ball. Are you both going to fight over the same day?"
Claudia smiled at Leo, and he grinned back.
"Not at all," Claudia said confidently. "There's a window of time where the barriers thin. We could easily pick separate days. In fact, if we stretched the events over a weekend, the spirits might be even happier."
"My uncle is very spiritual," Leo continued. "He would gladly hold a spiritual gathering to uphold the Old Ways during the day, with every intention of joining Her Majesty's ball at night."
"I would gladly attend such a spiritual gathering," Claudia added. "My parents and their coworkers might also want to attend. My mother is a descendant of Holy Queen Jasone, after all. I extend the use of my property within the boundaries of Crystal Cove to your uncle to hold this joint event. With my military and coven, and your uncle's military and coven, plus at least my parents' reaper team and possibly more, I think this event will be well protected. People will flock to this event due to the disappointment of the Harvest Moon Ball's cancellation, and we can assure them that we will protect them where their own king could not."
A silence fell over the table as Liam considered his options. This had to be at least partly Lukas' fault. Their employees wouldn't be here unless the deity had forced them to be here. Leo would still be advocating for his uncle, sure, but Varia and Vrai? Liam could hear Vrai complaining from where he sat. Claudia had admitted to speaking with Lukas when she revealed their anger at the ball's cancellation, but she was grinning too much at the thought of holding an event in his country. Lukas might have inspired some of this, but Claudia and Charley were exploiting this weak spot of Liam's. Every second he refused to hold the ball, the greater the chance that the other monarchs got even more ideas to make him look weaker.
"Sorry about my grandfather. Mom says that he's seen a lot of bad things, which makes him paranoid and that we should go easy on him. I agree with your mom. Cancelling the ball is stupid."
Isadora smiled at Victoriana. The gesture seemed earnest, which Victoriana thought was strange. No one in line to a throne ever relaxed in front of the other royals. The teens' mothers certainly never let down their guard around guests. Hell, sometimes Victoriana saw her mother wear her "I'm the queen and you will all obey" face for days. Princess Theodosia seemed to be equally distant, something her daughter didn't seem to share. Isadora was sheltered by her paranoid parents and was deliberately kept out of the school in Pleasantview where she could make political friends. To Victoriana, the princess' life was depressing. Claudia gave her plenty of choices to make on her own, even if the queen frequently interrupted her daughter's life when it was necessary. Even though Theo had been hired for the summer without knowing it, Claudia still allowed him every luxury owed to him as a guest of the queen. Theodosia looked like she ruled her daughter's life without restraint.
"I'm sure he has his reasons," Victoriana said charitably. She smiled back at the princess. Isadora had a beautiful smile.
"Hey guys! I mean, greetings Your Highnesses." Varia charged across the lawn and unceremoniously greeted the other teens. Her dad's work didn't often involve kids her own age, and she'd much rather hang out with princesses than listen to her miserable grandfather. "What's going on?"
Victoriana grinned at the sight of Varia. Varia and her father were frequent guests at the Pleasantview castle. They didn't see each other often outside of their shared science class, but Victoriana liked to think she and Varia were friends.
"We're talking about the Harvest Moon Ball and how much of a baby Isadora's grandfather is," Victoriana explained, causing Isadora's face to flush with embarrassment. "Everyone wants this ball to happen, even Strangetown. I think my mom's about to invade Crystal Cove just so it happens."
"He's just being sensible," Isadora protested. "My aunt died in the attack that killed Queen Cherry. He's never really recovered from that loss. It's okay to be safe sometimes."
Victoriana rolled her eyes.
"Sometimes, but not all the time. The man is afraid of his own shadow. My mom always says that a monarch has to take risks and go on the offensive or they risk everything they have. A lot of powerful people would be angry if she didn't rule the way she does. I plan on following her path one day when I'm queen."
"That's easy for you to say. Your mom has all the resources she needs to act like she does. The queen of Pleasantview gets everything she wants," Isadora complained. "Everyone is too afraid of her to go against her."
"Fine! I will hold the Harvest Moon Ball as scheduled as long as both of your kingdoms leave your militaries at home, and Strangetown's spiritual gathering is contained to the tower."
The teens could hear the king's frustrated declaration from across the yard. Isadora continued to flush with embarrassment, while Varia couldn't keep a snort of laughter from escaping.
Victoriana grinned proudly.
"Like I said, the queen of Pleasantview gets what she wants. One day, that's going to be me."

HC (mostly about Familoier)
Roier sometimes dreams of Bobby he thinks they are just dream but is actually Bobby visiting him
Bobby, Tilin and Juana were triplets
Ro and Jaiden used to sleep on the same bed, it started one day when one of them had a nightmare and went to the other for comfort (NOT IN A ROMANTIC WAY)
Now a days sometimes Jaiden goes to Cellbit castle and kicks him out of bed so she can be with Ro (Cristina and Mer from Grey's kinda way)
Roier was the only one who knew how to made Tilins bow the way they liked it
When Bobby was still alive he would speak to the sky and pretend he was talking with Tilin
Tilin was used to sleep at Roier's so sometimes when they were with Quackity they would sneak out to sleep at Roier's house
Bobby wouldn't let anyone be bad with Tilin, only he could make Tilin bullying
Jaiden is a decent at cooking, but while living with Roier she let him do everything cause he was just better (mexican food supremacy) so now she struggles to remember to make herself some food
Jaiden talkes with Roier and Bobby when she's at Bobby's fields, they are not there but for her they are
Sometimes when Roier or Jaiden are sad they go back to the og house and lie down on Bobby's bed, is too small for them , but they make it work. They don't do this together and they don't know the other does this
Roier and Jaiden completely ignore Bobby's grave,is too painful
Roier always goes to Mariana house to force him to eat and to help him do his hygiene basic stuff, Mariana is too depressed to do them on his own
When Roier gets extremely sad he goes back to the pool, he doesn't get in it cause he's afraid of not being able to get out, he just stays outside.
When Roier started to feel happy again, completely happy, he felt guilty and went to Jaiden just to hang out, he didn't tell her anything but she knew, she just hug him and told him that she was really happy for the upcoming wedding, that's when he asked her to be his Best woman
Jaiden eats a lot of pizza
Jaiden doesn't let anyone touch her wings, only Ro and Bobby, she's been thinking about letting Cellbit touch them but she's not ready
When Quackity really messes things up he goes to Roier's house, sometimes Roier just ignores him cause he's too mad at him, others Roier let's him paint while he sings to him, but even when he's too mad at Quackity he always lets him in
Ro and Mariana always talk and put things around in reference of some people outside the island, they don't exactly remember them but they now they love them and miss them (Aldo and Rivers, they are in Roier's oxxo and are really close irl friends)
No one has enter Bobby's tower in a long time
