Jace and Rhaena grow close while living at Dragonstone ~ Wholesome fluff

In the quiet chambers of Dragonstone, the gentle clinking of a needle against fabric filled the air. Rhaena sat by the large opening of her balcony, sunlight streaming in and casting a warm glow over her delicate features. Her nimble fingers moved with practiced precision, embroidering a majestic dragon with shimmering scales onto a piece of rich velvet. She decided to model this one after Balerion, having already completed Meraxes, Vhagar, Caraxes, and Meleys. Moondancer's much smaller embroidery into lace had been the first project of Rhaena's, and Baela gleamed at the gift when Rhaena gave it to her during her visit to Driftmark.
As she worked, her gaze often drifted towards the training yard below, where Jace was once again engaged in a fierce sword practice. She used to sit inside, choosing to spend these hours daydreaming in solace. Moons ago, Rhaena moved her seat from aside the fireplace to the balcony to watch Jace and entertain herself while she worked. She smiled softly as he rushed back to his feet after getting knocked down by the much larger trainer. His movements had grown fluid and more graceful, his growing display of strength and skill never failed to captivate her. At her feet, little Aegon toddled around with his toy, interrupting Rhaena's quiet by giggling with glee as he tried to mimic Jace's sword swings with his tiny arm.
Rhaena couldn't help but giggle at the sight of the boy. With Daemon and his busy mother, she found this child was near her a lot. She didn't mind, being that he was sweet and didn't cry too much. Everyone else came and went as they pleased with their dragons, while Rhaena was here spending so much time at Dragonstone. Atleast baby Aegon couldn't fly away and leave her, at least not yet. The birth of Aegon had brought Jace and Rhaena closer. They had already grieved Laena and Harwin together, ate dinner together, lived together. But this was different. They shared a sibling now, and Rhaena felt they were now closer than cousins simply living on the same island. She thought about how this is such a Valyrian way of thinking. If she were in House Stark or Martell, cousins would be close enough.
The growing bond was evident even in Rhaena and Jace's interactions. Aegon's birth left both Jace and Rhaena spending time together fussing over the baby. She was always nurturing, but missing the chance to coo at her own loss brother Baelon. A new found appreciation was gained for Jace. Unlike Rhaena, this wasn't his first time being an older sibling. She assumed this is how Baela was when Rhaena was born, cooing over her younger sister. Jace's protective nature towards their young brother warmed her heart, and she found herself admiring him not just for his prowess with a sword, but for the kindness and patience he showed towards others. Especially her.
Rhaena blushed, looking down to regain focus on her needling.
Lost in her thoughts, Rhaena continued to stitch the intricate patterns of the dragon, the needle glinting in the sunlight like a tiny silver dragon's claw. She loved the image of ancient traditions, it filled her with a sense of contentment that she cherished. She had no suspicions Jace felt the same way about her, but he was careful with his intentions. He thought Rhaena seemed to be naive and oblivious to the strained relationship he held with his mother's new husband.
Busy with her stitching, Rhaena suddenly heard a familiar voice calling her name. Looking up, she saw Jace motioning to her, letting her know he was on his way inside. She had brought Aegon down to the common quarters to sit with his wet nurse and she approached Jace raising her eyebrows. His princely figure was cutting a striking silhouette against the backdrop of the ancient castle walls. His dark eyes sparkled with a warmth that always made Rhaena's heart flutter.
"Rhaena?" Jace said, his voice gentle yet commanding, "I was wondering if you would accompany me on a ride with Vermax."
Surprised yet intrigued by his request, Rhaena smiled and nodded eagerly. She couldn't help the warmth that spread across her cheeks upon accepting his offer. This was the first time he'd asked her. Rhaena rushed outside after changing her outfit, seeing Jace had also changed into riding clothes. He was glad his mother and Daemon were off to the mound, so he didn't have anyone questioning his sudden invitation to Rhaena. In truth, he had no errand to run, no excuse to take her anywhere. His busy schedule to train for future kingship had rarely given him free time to do this.
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden glow over the ancient walls of their castle, Rhaena approached Vermax, the majestic dragon that Jace had invited her to ride. Jace, ever the gentleman, was standing waiting for her and held out his hand to help Rhaena onto the dragon's back. Her heart raced with excitement as she settled in behind Jace, wrapping her arms around his waist for support. With a gentle nudge, Vermax spread his growing wings and ascended to the sky, the wind whipped through their hair while they soared through the air. The
The landscape unfolded beneath them, a breathtaking tapestry of rugged cliffs and crashing waves. Jace's strong presence in front of her filled Rhaena with security and warmth, and she couldn't help but feel a flutter in her heart. As they watched the sun slowly dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, Jace couldn't shake the feeling that was blossoming in his chest. He wanted to turn around and steal a glance at Rhaena, but decided it's better to watch where he was going.
A shadow lingered in his thoughts, the knowledge that Rhaena's father, Daemon, might not approve of their growing closeness. Jace pushed the worry aside, determined to savor this precious moment with Rhaena pressed close to him, flying into the evening sky and their hearts soaring as one. As they flew through the sky, the wind whispering in their ears, Jace still couldn't shake the nagging thought of Daemon's potential disapproval. That the man's icy demeanor was like a looming shadow over their blossoming relationship, and Jace was sure to notice how Daemon treated the young Aegon much more fatherly. Despite the exhilaration of flying on Vermax's back with Rhaena's arms wrapped around him, a sense of foreboding lingered in his mind.
He felt Rhaena sigh, nestling closer against his chest and with her breath warm on his neck, Jace felt a rush of emotions. Her presence recently was growing intoxicating, and the closeness between them ignited a fire within him. The way her soft curves molded against his body, the hint of her floral fragrance mixing with the familiar scent of Vermax—it was all too much for Jace to handle.
As they rode through the darkening sky, the heat of the moment and the adrenaline of their flight stirred something deeper within Jace. His thoughts strayed to places he knew they shouldn't, his mind painting vivid images of what could be if they dared to explore the desires that simmered beneath the surface. Jace's heart raced with a heady mix of longing and guilt, his grip on Vermax's scales tightening involuntarily. The relaxation of the flight, their clandestine closeness, and the nature of their growing attraction created a potent cocktail of emotions that Jace struggled to contain.
Lost in the whirlwind of sensations, he found himself using one hand to cover Rhaena's hand. Clinging to her as if she were his lifeline, his every nerve on edge with desire and apprehension. They descended through the now starlit sky, with only the beating of dragon wings and the rush of wind as witness, Jace and Rhaena danced on the edge of something beautiful.
The sounds of laughter and chatter filled the air. Inside the grand dining hall, the long table was adorned with flickering candles, gleaming silverware, and plates of steaming food. Rhaena sat at the table with a maroon dress, her eyes sparkling, Joffrey and Aegon on either side of her. Across from her, Jace, with his princely demeanor, sat looking regal, his eyes occasionally meeting Rhaena's with a slight smile. Lucerys and Joffrey were busy teasing each other, their laughter ringing through the hall.
Daemon, the stern and imposing figure of the family, sat at the head of the table, spoke to his wife and their usual dinner guest. It was usually a Lord or Lady from another house, and Jace was always the first to make their guest feel taken care of. As plates of roasted meats, savory stews, and freshly baked bread were passed around, the family engaged in lively conversation. Stories of the day's events and occasional jokes filled the air. Rhaena wished Baela and her grandmother could've been there. Amidst the clinking of silverware and the occasional outburst of laughter, she stole glances at Jace, her heart fluttering at the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled. The tension that lingered between them from their recent flight on Vermax was palpable, adding an undercurrent of feeling to the evening.
As the meal came to a close, and the last crumbs were cleared away, Rhaena felt a sense of contentment finally wash over her. She would never complain to her father about this but she had felt so alone without her mother, and feeling torn apart when she realized Baela would not be living with her. Rhaena wasn't close to her father, aware he wasn't the type of parent to give the warmth and love she'd heard from her handmaidens stories of their own fathers. She had come to Dragonstone shocked at the difference from Pentos. Pentos was lively, a big city with plenty of kids running around that she could make friends with. Now she was living among all boys, seeing as Rhaenyra had no daughters and the only girls close to her age being the occasional ladies who came to visit and the few girls her age that lived here. She didn't realize until then just how isolated she was and her growing introversion. But with Jace's reassuring presence, she was feeling different now. In that moment, as the candles flickered and the warmth of the hearth enveloped them, Rhaena couldn't help but feel grateful for the love and connection that bound them together.
The soft sounds of Rhaena's laughter echoed under the tree they sat at as she patiently corrected Jace's pronunciation of a High Valyrian word. Warm light danced in her eyes, reflecting the joy she felt in these moments spent with him. Jace couldn't help but chuckle at his own mistakes, encouraged by Rhaena's gentle teasing. These unofficial lessons of his were the only time he didn't feel pressured, earlier he'd get frustrated feeling the need to overcompensate. Rhaena's softness had a way to calm him down and reassure the young Prince. He watched as she moved her long shining hair back and his eyes crinkled at the corners as he tried once more, determined to get it right this time. Wrong again. The bond between them grew stronger with every shared giggle and every mispronounced word.
Outside, the gardens of Dragonstone bloomed with the colors of spring, a perfect backdrop for these late meetings. Ever since their first flight together, Jace would often steal moments away from his princely duties to walk with Rhaena among the flowers, their voices hushed in conversation. In those stolen moments, he would slip small gifts into her hands, tokens of his affection. Whenever he got the chance, he would taker Rhaena into the skies with him. He knew she wanted a dragon, and was wanting her pale pink egg to hatch but he was secretly glad it didn't. He wanted her with him, and felt pride knowing he could give her that. Rhaena, in turn, would eagerly help Jace navigate the intricacies of High Valyrian, her lilac eyes sparkling with enthusiasm as she explained the nuances of the ancient language. It was very difficult so she was grateful for the lessons Laena had given her, and for the first time, she was in a position of teaching and having more knowledge than him. A stark contrast to him explaining the many different commands he gave Vermax.
"Egros. This is an easy one." Jace repeated the word she pointed to on his book, pronouncing it correctly. Rhaena beamed with pride at his progress while her eyes traveled down to the weapon attached to his belt. Her expression quickly shifted when Jace asked her what the word meant. Without missing a beat, Rhaena quietly replied, "Knife."
Her gaze stayed on the knife that Jace had tucked in, a blade that held a significant memory for both of them. It was the very same knife he had when they first met, during the intense confrontation with Aemond. The memory of that tumultuous event hung heavy in the air, the fear and tension of that moment still straining. Rhaena's eyes filled with sorrow as she recalled the adrenaline-fueled clash, the unnecessary danger they had faced together.
Jace noticed the shift in her mood and gently took her hand in his, offering a reassuring squeeze. "It's ok, Rhaena. We stood together then, and we always will," he murmured, his voice filled affection. As Jace's fingers grabbed at the knife, instinctively wanting to remove it from it's hilt and show her. However, Rhaena couldn't help but feel a pang of disapproval tugging at her heart as she watched him. This blade had once been a source of danger and caused so much chaos.
"Jace, I... I don't like seeing that knife out," Rhaena began, her gaze pleading with him to understand her unease. "I know it's important to you, but it reminds me of a time I wish we could forget."
Jace's brow furrowed, before returning it to it's place. He had to remind himself that she wasn't Baela, the older girl loved play fight with him and marvel at weapons when he flies to visit her and his grandparents.
Rhaena's eyes flickered as she shook her head, the gold in her locs clinking together. Her voice tinged with sadness and frustration. "I don't understand, Jace. I don't understand what's between you and Aemond, why we have to avoid King's Landing and can't patch things up with the rest of our family. She thought to her uncle who was so nice to her, he'd send books and even invited her to visit his grand library. She was unsuprised and sad when Daemon found the letter and threw it away, declaring that they wouldn't be taking her to King's Landing for a visit.
She continued. I don't know why there's so much resentment. Why Aemond was so mean to me."
Jace's features hardened as he remembered Aemond taking out his frustration on Rhaena, "I'm sorry, Rhaena. I didn't realize... I'll put the knife away," he vowed.
A wave of guilt washed over him. He realized the weight of the chaos that Rhaena and Baela were entangled in immediately upon their return to Westeros. With a heavy heart, he leaned in.
"I'm so sorry, Rhaena," Jace began apologizing again, his voice tinged with remorse. "I should've kept my emotions under control, made sure you and Baela were shielded from all this mess with my uncle." He sighed, thinking back to Harwin Strong and hearing about his brutal death.
"I promise to stand by you, especially in the troubling times to come. I'll always protect you, dear sister."
The heartfelt declaration was sealed with his gentle kiss, symbolizing their unbreakable bond and the unwavering support they promised each other in the face of any adversity. Feeling a surge of protectiveness and affection towards Rhaena, Jace had reached out, gently cupping her face in his hands. Their eyes met, a silent understanding passing between them. In that moment of shared vulnerability and unspoken emotions, Jace leaned in, pressing tenderly into Rhaena's lips.
The world around them seemed to fade away. Jace pulled back, his expression reflecting the deep emotion that surged through him.
"You mean everything to me, sweet Rhaena."
He marveled at Rhaena while kissing her again. She was more fragile than him, but could hold such strength in her gentle presence. As Jace used his tongue to graze her's, he appreciated replacing the usual aggression he felt he had to muster when speaking to Daemon or engaging in training sessions with a tender and protective aura whenever he touched Rhaena.
In those moments, his hands, which were accustomed to wielding swords and fighting in the yard now moved with a gentle grace as they traced the contours of her delicate features. His touch, once fueled by intensity and determination, now exuded a soothing delicacy.
With each caress, Jace's actions spoke louder than words, conveying his unwavering support and love for the precious girl who had captured his heart.
Jace's words were accompanied by a tender caress of her cheek, the gentle gesture conveying his unending devotion and affection. Rhaena melted into his arms, cherishing the moment of comfort and intimacy with her beloved Jace. The shared vulnerability of their confessions and the intensity of their bond only fueled the growing attraction between them, igniting a powerful desire that burned brightly within both of them. Rhaena's eyes flickered with desire, the heat of her blush reflecting her inner turmoil.
As the night enveloped the garden, casting a soothing glow over the flowers and herbs, Rhaena and Jace refused to leave their tender embrace. A promise of love and the stars twinkled above them, offering a celestial witness to the moment of pure emotion that passed between them.
Moons had passed since their first kiss, and the bond between Rhaena and Jace had only intensified. Jace found himself seeking any excuse to steal moments alone with Rhaena, cherishing each stolen kiss and secret embrace. On a quiet evening, as the castle lay hushed in slumber, Jace found himself in Rhaena's chambers. The room was bathed in the soft glow of moonlight filtering through the windows, casting a silver sheen over everything it touched. Rhaena had just given him the embroidery she made portraying Vermax's mix of colors. Jace favored it. His heart raced with a mixture of excitement and nervousness as he lay beside her on the bed, his hand reaching out to gently brush a stray loc of hair from her face.
With only the sound of their hushed breaths filling the room, Jace leaned in, his lips meeting hers in a sweet and tender kiss. The world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them caught in a moment suspended in time. As their lips lingered a gentle rustle of fabric caused Jace to pull back slightly, his heart skipping a beat. He knew his mother and Daemon was off the island, having flown off somewhere, he didn't bother to care where but them leaving the castle afforded him rare moment of solitude with her. Jace wouldn't dare be here if Daemon was lurking about.
With a shared glance of silent understanding, Jace and Rhaena let their inhibitions fall away, allowing themselves to revel in the stolen intimacy of the night. In the quiet sanctuary of her chamber, their love bloomed like a delicate flower under the moon's watchful gaze, each stolen kiss a testament to the depth of their affection. Rhaena seemed to him more enchanting than usual, her eyes seemed to glow with a mixture of innocence and desire. The air between them crackled with an undeniable tension, a silent understanding passing between them.
Without a word, Jace's touch more urgent more primal than before. His hands and lips moved with a newfound intensity, tracing the curve of her jaw, the line of her neck, igniting a fire that burned hot and bright within them both. Rhaena's breath hitched at the sudden change in his demeanor, a thrill of excitement coursing through her veins.
Feeling his rougher touch, Rhaena let out a soft gasp, a shiver of anticipation running down her spine. "Jace, I can't wait for you to be my King," she whispered in confession, the word King slipping from her lips like a forbidden promise, a term of endearment and acceptance that fueled the flames of the young Prince. Jace's eyes darkened with a hunger, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he slid on top of her and drank in the sight of her beneath him. The title he didn't yet possess but she bestowed upon him sent a jolt of electricity through his body.
She seemed to realize the effect her words had on him when she placed her hand on his chest, running her fingers through his curled hair.
"I want you, Jace," Rhaena whispered in his ear. His breath caught in his throat as her words filled him with a surge of confidence and purpose. The young prince had never felt more alive, more certain of his destiny and the future he would share with his precious Rhaena. The world around them seemed to fade away when he slipped his cock inside her, leaving only the two of them and the unbreakable bond that connected them. Their heavy kissing seeming to have already prepared her body for him, allowing him to move with fervor. He wished he could stay in her wetness forever as he grunted on top of her.
"Rhaena, my sweet Rhaena," Jace murmured, his voice a soft caress. "You light my days."
Rhaena looked up at him, her eyes shining with affection. She didn't say anything in response, but just smiled.
They remain intertwined with the sounds of their passion, creating a symphony of love that enveloped them in its embrace. In that moment, there was only them, two souls bound together in a love that knew no boundaries.
Rhaena was no fool, aware that her father had no intentions on marrying her to Jace. She decided she would would enjoy him for now. For now, she could only anticipate the next time she could spend with Jace.

OTP Jacaerys Velaryon x Rhaena Targaryen
Warning: Sex.
Laughter could be heard at the library of Dragonstone, something usual, Prince Jacaerys used to stay up late studying with his cousin Lady Rhaena, Valyrian classes. Both chairs were glued side by side, two goblets with water, as Rhaena said wine tended to cloud the mind, and his hand, resting comfortably on the backrest.
“Concentrate, Jace”—she scolded him. How could he do that? If, thanks to the heat, his cousin was wearing a dress that left her shoulders bare, and he might have been looking at the skin of her neck more than he should and imagining the softness of her skin against his lips, he cleared his throat so as not to be caught in the middle of his scandalous thoughts, where his cousin was the protagonist more often than he was willing to admit.
" I'm so sorry, I couldn't make out the last word". He watched Rhaena roll her eyes and had no choice but to smile. Unfortunately, his mother didn't even ask him about engagements, things would be so different and uncomplicated, it was because first, he had an engagement with her sister, second, she was her brother's fiancée. And third, Daemon was going to kill him.
“Skoros ao jāre naejot gaomagon?” (What will you do?) She asked him and how could it be otherwise, he was attentive to her lips and only her lips, it might not seem like it, but he felt guilty for how he felt and how he was focusing on Rhaena as if there was no one else in the world, but was because, they spent too much time together and had too much in common for it not to start distracting him one way or another.
“nyke would najot vūjgon an” (am I going to kiss you) He answered her, sure of himself and made again, his cousin look at him with both eyebrows raised, and biting his lower lip, in fact, he was getting closer to kissing her because he was being true to his instincts, when she caught his eye, he could feel her lips brushing against his adverse ones.
“You said it wrong, cousin” She replied, but without breaking away, holding her breath and running the tip of his tongue across his mouth. “nyke would naejot vūjigon ao” an “ah” from Jace came out almost involuntarily, he would remember it for next time, but now he would finish cutting the distance to finally taste the adverse's lips as he had so imagined, and it was much better than he had dreamed, and he had done so much since his uncle Daemon had taken him to a brothel for the first time.
Rhaena didn't take long to raise her dress to sit astride him, and he was grateful for it, because he was able to slip his hand under her skirt and caress the length of her legs, what his cousin lacked in experience she made up for with the desire she was putting in, the prince left his hands on the lady's thighs, so he could stand up and leave her on the table, getting between her legs, he parted from her lips to go down to her chin and neck, while she ran her hand under the simple shirt she was wearing, which lifted her pride a because it was not one-sided, she was not going to think about the consequences of the outburst now.
He lowered her lips to the start of her breasts, seeking to pull down the dress to get better access to them, when they heard the clatter of the chair, he left over the door to listen for any intruders echoed a muffled, “shit who left this here? “ From her uncle's voice, made them alert, quickly pulling his hands out from under Rhaena's skirt, knowing that his death was near, if not for the father, it was for the daughter because she gave him a push and then a kick in the stomach with so much force that not only pushed him away from her, but took all the air out of him, the wretch sat accommodating the cleavage and taking a book for when the rogue prince showed himself, looking at both of them and especially at Jacaerys, confused of course, because the heir of Rhaenyra was leaning against the wall trying to recover his lip, he put his good hand on the handle of a long knife he carried Why was he armed in the fortress?
“What are you doing here alone at this hour?” he asked, serious, making a shiver run down his spine, luckily Rhaena was there with a smile as innocent as if she had never done anything wrong in her life, Jacaerys believed her everything. “I'm studying Valyrian, father, I told you I would help Jacaerys with his lessons” Daemon took a seat across from them, crossing his legs, while he could breathe back.
“What happened to him?” and he pointed to him with his head, he didn't know what to say, but as heir he had to learn to lie, he opened his mouth “Father, can you that he still doesn't know the verb <>(do) You cut off a pentosi's head for less than that” And again she interrupted him, that Jacaerys looked like an idiot was true, but as a future king he had to know how to distribute responsibilities and Rhaena knew how to lie very well, for covering Baela he thought.
“From now on you will take lessons with me, we don't want you to kill the eldest son of the princess.” Daemon was silent for a few seconds "And I didn't kill him, I cut his tongue because he dared to make a vulgar comment to your lady mother” He said it looking fixedly at Jacaerys, it was a threat, he was very sure because he also took the opportunity to show the length of the dagger, while he left it on the table, funny that now he was playing the good father when he ignored Rhaena or the good husband with Lady Laena, at least everyone in the castle knew about his visits when he didn't share the room with Rhaenyra. "Now go to sleep" And well, he wasn't such a fool not to obey, but he had to find another way to make sure his encounters alone with his cousin didn't end.
---
He knew he should have gone to his room and not follow Rhaena to hers to talk about what had happened, apologize for something he didn't really feel, because he had feelings for her and before he got married, he also wanted to feel that it was for once in his life, to give in to something as simple as desire. That he would end up lifting Rhaena up and leave her back against his bedroom door, that was not foreseen, nor that she would respond with the same vehemence. So, walking to her bed and leaving her there to make them both more comfortable.
He struggled against her dress, as she struggled against her clothes to go straight for her breasts as he tried earlier in the library, which he devoured with gusto, his hands ran over her waist, her legs, ass and wetness, he didn't want to leave there without tasting her completely, so he started down her belly.
"Jace, what are you doing?" he heard her agitated voice, as he knelt in front of the bed, holding her by the hips, he pulled her to him to put his face between her legs, beginning to devour her listening as she covered her mouth, so the gasps couldn't be heard and truth be told, he wasn't thinking too clearly how could he? Knowing that Rhaena was as willing as he was.
He wanted to take her and make her his completely, but he also knew he couldn't do that, taking her virginity would be totally without honor and would hurt her, not him. So, when he felt her jerk with pleasure, he stood over her, so he could squeeze her nipple between his lips again, smiling. His member was erect and aching, but he wasn't going to… to… His thoughts were midway when he felt Rhaena's hand move over his member, he put his own hand over hers, to guide her in rhythm, panting in her ear until his seed fell onto Rhaena's belly. He fell to his side exhausted, but with a smile that wouldn't leave him for days, he looked up at her, and she was staring at the ceiling.
"Rhaena" He called her, settling one of her deadlocks behind her ear "It's not just lust I feel for you, I hope you know it's something deeper than that" He saw her smile, and sit down on the mattress, she didn't even cover herself for what?
“I know, and it's the same for me, but we can't repeat this again, we have a duty” And he agreed, shame it was easy to say they would stop seeing each other because they lived in the same fortress. She leaned back and hugged him, kissing his chin.
"But it will be tomorrow, today let's pretend it's just us" And Jacaerys couldn't agree more, they would have a lifetime of duty to go on, for once he didn't think anything would happen. Did he?.

RhaeJacaela are the Conquerer reborn and at the surface, the parallels seem obvious:
Baela is Visenya, she's the blade, the fierce spirit and would have inherited Dark Sister from Daemon if things had gone well
Jacaerys is Aegon. The king, the charismatic leader.
Rhaena is Rhaenys. Her namesake, the softer sister.
But also they each have the other Conquerer's qualities. Baela is like Rhaenys: they are so close to their dragons and love flying at every opportunity
Rhaena and Aegon are both hopeful with dreams of future. Aegon seeking to unite a war-streaked realm and Rhaena keeping Morning's egg throughout the years knowing it would hatch one day.
Jace and Visenya both are emotional and vulnerable, albeit in different ways. Both are shaken by loss and fear to face it again. That is how Jace got careless and got killed because he was so desperate to save his baby brothers.
But what sets Rhaejaceaela from the Conqueror trio is that they all love each other in a healthy manner. They would have been better than Aegon and his sisters.

Summary: Rhaena doesn't want Jace to leave her, especially because there's an angry Aemond lurking around every corner
Jacaena Modern AU Warning: Smut, Incest AO3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rhaena leaned against her dad's car, smoothing out the wrinkles in her pink dress with one hand. It's still warm out on the late November evening, and she wouldn't mind a chill. A slight breeze kept her distracted from thinking too hard. Their extended family was coming over for a holiday dinner and she was preparing herself to deal with Aemond. He was the thing that had her nerves jangling. The second half of her childhood consisted of him fighting Jace and it always put a strain on her.
When Rhaena and Baela were old enough to gossip about tensions between their father and uncle's family, that same family got inserted into their lives. They went from silent nights eating ice cream on foreign balconies to losing their mother and watching their family try to kill each other. Her peaceful existence living overseas got disrupted and Baela was sent away to live with her grandmother.
Putting up with Aemond wasn’t the biggest deal of her life, but she thought hard nonetheless. The menacing stares and the death threats under his breathe, she knew what was coming and thought about Jace. He was going to leave for the army soon and then Rhaena would be left to deal with Aemond without him. She couldn’t help but wonder that he might never come back.
Not even having her sister, Baela could only visit for a weekend and had to go back so Rhaena dreaded the loneliness. So far she successfully steered clear of involving her father since she didn’t want to muddy the waters of family tension anymore. As far as the parents knew, all the kids got along perfectly well.
Almost every visit was the same, but the visits were getting less frequent as everyone grew up. 2 years ago, it was Aemond snatching the tv remote out of her hand and calling Rhaena a stupid girl. The night ended with Jace and Aemond fist fighting in the living room and Aegon standing in the corner laughing. Daeron thought about breaking it up, but decided to go to another room pretending he didn’t see anything. All the broken furniture had been hauled out of the room by the time Aemond’s mom came back home.
Rhaena clutched at her chest, throat tightening when her anxiety threatened to consume her.
"You coming in?" Jace chuckled quietly when he saw he interrupted her staring into space. He held the front door open, gesturing for her to come inside. Taking a deep breathe Rhaena looked one last time and saw her uncle's car turn onto their street.
They were all sitting in the large backyard finishing up their meal and Rhaena was smiling, relieved that she avoided Aemond successfully the entire night. When the car pulled up, she immediately went inside and up to her room, only coming down when dinner was ready. She made sure to sit on the other end of the table next to Jace, and as far away from Aemond as possible.
Almost the entire night was passive aggressive comments between her father and aunt. The tense dinner turned into a faux celebration and according to Aegon, Jace heading off to base training warranted everyone drank up. Baela called on the phone, offering her regrets that she couldn’t make it and told them about a special concoction she invented.
Once the vodka drink was mixed up and served, Rhaena sipped the strong beverage slowly with no intentions on getting drunk. Glancing up, she caught a malicious look from Aemond and turned to preoccupy herself.
“I hope you can come visit often Jace.” She leaned in closer to Jace, hoping he could see the pleading in her eyes. Giving her a warm smile, Jace took another large swig and emptied his glass.
“Of course Rhaena, I don’t wanna spend too much time away from home.” His brown curls fell in his face when he glanced over to see her reaction. He didn’t seem to understand her. She wanted him to stay around and needed him. Rhaena grabbed Jace’s hand with her concerns not slightly hampered, and he squeezed.
“Don’t worry I’ll have time to come back on holidays.”
Somehow, she didn’t believe him. Yet another close family member is going far away. Everyone just kept growing older and having too many responsibilities. At a time like this, she hated being the youngest. His concentration on her broke when Aegon started in on another exaggerated story and called upon Jace to testify he’s seen a skateboarding trick.
Aemond took the opportunity to start up with one of his intimidation tactics. He’d just finished his drink and now had his chair tilted, unhurt eye having a perfect view of her. Rhaena shook her head, knowing one of his moods was going to flare up and it was time for her to end her night.
Looking down Rhaena got up to avoid Aemond’s gaze, and she grabbed dishes at random. She smiled at everyone and excused herself from the table before rushing back inside. Once she got into the kitchen, she started on the dishes and quickly tried to think up an excuse to go to bed early. She couldn't say she wassick, that excuse being overused the last two times.
Before she could pick the next big reason to absolve her from being around her family, she smelled Aemond’s cologne. The house that usually had a pleasant aroma was now stale. Groaning, Rhaena slowly turned around wanting to get it all over with. Aemond gave her a sickened once over and Rhaena forced a smile, hoping to placate him.
"So, how's everything going?” Her eyes wandered to his eyepatch, it was impossible to ignore contrasting with his pale skin. His long scar looked different than what she’d remembered from the red slash he had. Aemond saw through her fake concern and brushed it off, giving her a sinister smirk.
"Thank you."
Sighing, Rhaena knew it was going to be one of his games this time. Aemond’s entire aura darkened the room, and she swore her soul was slowly being sucked out of her.
"What are you thanking me for?" She closes her eyes, exhaling through her nose hoping when she opened them back up she would be alone.
"You make everything easy. Thank you for coming inside so I can talk to you alone." His laugh, low and rich, fills the air. She felt unnerved just being around him, not understanding how he could take so much pleasure in behaving like this.
“You mean terrorize me? Go away.” Rhaena moved to leave and go upstairs, abandoning the dishes when Aemond cut her off.
"Aemond, leave me alone.”
He huffed at her, offended and stepped closer. “Maybe you should’ve left me alone that night.”
There was no way to respond to him. No matter what she said he would be angry, and all her apologies had been met with laughter. She heard the back door close, reminding herself that Aemond had snuck in quietly like the grim reaper.
“Fuck off.” Jace had walked in holding his glass and placed it in the sink. She could already see the fury in his face growing. Rhaena sighed again knowing they were going to have another chaotic night. She just wanted onepeaceful get-together but with Aemond’s goading and Jace’s irritability, it seemed impossible.
Aemond moved past Rhaena, brushing her arm and forgetting that he’d come in to mess with her. With Jace’s smaller stature she never understood why he was always so eager to fight his uncles.
“Make me fuck off brown haired boy.” Aemond barely got his last word out when Jace’s fist went flying at his face. There was a loud crack sound and Rhaena jumped back, holding the wall behind her, not wanting to get close to the fight.
It happened so fast to her. Aemond sniggered after getting hit and in turn pushed Jace and wrestled him to the ground.
“Aemond! Jace! Stop it!” Rhaena tried to scream loud, hoping one of the adults could hear her. The boys continued grappling at each other, punching each other in the ribs, and throwing curse words. Voices from outside got louder and they heard the back door opening.
Both boy’s ears seem to perk up and they froze on the floor for a second, noses bloodied before untangling themselves and jumping up. Jace didn’t wait for Daemon to come in, moving fast to grab Rhaena’s arm and ushered her upstairs.
Before closing his room door, Rhaena could hear her aunt asking Aemond what he was doing to which he responded with a lazy, “Nothing.”
Rhaena’s head was pounding as she grabbed a towel from Jace’s dresser and wiped blood from his face. Urging him to sit, she wrapped his hand and pressed into his bloodied knuckles. Jace acted as if nothing happened, and she looked at him bewildered that this had become so normal to him. Even with her witnessing her father almost beat men to death, this would also be unnerving to Rhaena.
Jace was breathing hard, his adrenaline clearly starting to calm down. Her head tilted, making it impossible for him to see her expression and she asked in a soft voice, "When are you leaving?"
She kept her eyes on his hands, observing how different they looked from when they were younger.
Jace lifts an eyebrow at her, wondering why she was getting sentimental on him now. Laughing at the timing of her question, his wonky smile weaned from his face. Tears were welling up in her eyes.
“I don’t want you to leave.”
He reached to wipe the tear that escaped her eye and grabbed her arms bringing her closer. With one hand pressed on her cheek he sighed contentedly.
“I told you you’ll see me again. It’s not like I’m going to outerspace.” Jace tried to joke to lighten her mood, but her face stayed solemn.
“I know, I’m being silly it’s just-.” Cutting herself off, Rhaena shook her head not wanting to get too deep into it. At least while he was still here she can try to enjoy what little time she had left with him.
"Thank you Jace, for everything." She continues quickly, her words almost hesitant. Jace glances down at her, frowning slightly and seemed to be considering her hesitation before nodding once.
His eyes flickered from her cheeks to her lips. Rhaena widened her own eyes, swallowing audibly before blushing softly. She moved closer and tried to turn and wrap her arms around him.
Jace stopped her with a kiss, his lips touching hers blossomed Rhaena like a rose petal. She couldn’t say she didn’t see it coming and welcomed him in. Deepening his kiss, he cupped her face gently in both hands. The kiss lingers longer than Rhaena expected, her fingers digging into Jace's shoulder blades before she pulls back and moves against him.
Their hearts started beating faster and faster when Jace slid his hands down her back, tugginh at the fabric of her dress. And panties. Bashfully, Rhaena covered herself as he laid her down on his bed.
“Don’t hide from me, you look beautiful.” He shimmied off his clothes, fumbling with the button of his pants before stumbling back onto his bed while she laid sprawled. Jace’s hands were everywhere as he pressed against her and grinded softly, resuming their kissing.
The sound of moans filled the room. Aemond’s harsh lingering scent seemed to have disappeared, being replaced by a warm vanilla. Jace groaned into Rhaena's neck, turning greedy and wanting every piece of her.
"Are you sure you want this?” Rhaena smiled at him, knowing he already knew her answer. Jace was always sweet to her and Rhaena bit her lip at his fondness turning into sensuality. He reached down, feeling her wetness already ready for him and slowly pushed his cock into her.
Screwing her face up, Rhaena whimpered and grabbed onto Jace’s shoulder. He stifled her noises with another kiss, pausing before moving his hips and filling her. It felt like they entered a trance, a series of flushing their bodies together mixed in with their moans echoing in his room.
Rhaena giggled, thinking of the juxtaposition to where she just was ten minutes ago. All the negativity had been washed away and replaced with comfort and familiarity. She knew from his thoughtless firm hands that he knew what he was doing and wondered how experienced he was. Sensing that her mind was drifting from the pleasure he was giving her, Jace lifted his head to look into her eyes.
“Do you like what I’m doing?” Jace snapped his hips faster into her and her gleaming eyes fluttered.
Rhaena couldn’t give him the answer he was looking for, so she settled for wrapping her legs around him and pulling him closer. She made sure her mouth was close to his ear before speaking softly.
“Jace don’t stay away too long.”
His forehead creased, feeling his finish coming quicker than he thought and moved Rhaena back down to suck on her collarbone. Jace moved perfectly inside her, gently and relentlessly bringing them to ectasy.
Rhaena shuttered around him, with a tight grip on Jace scratching his skin and holding back a scream. Bringing a shaky hand up to her face, Jace cupped her cheek giving her one last kiss before spilling inside her with a groan. Her face warmed with his heavy breathing, and she smiled savoring the euphoria.
Opening her eyes in the morning, Rhaena stared at the ceiling, the smooth, white plaster an incongruous sight in Jace’s dimly lit room. She’d spent the better part of the night cuddling back up to Jace after crawling out of his bed to shower. Her cool skin, nakedness and the feather light pillows felt like she dreamt last night, and she didn’t want to move again. She listened to Jace’s loud snoring before closing her eyes again, drifting back to sleep.

Rhaena Targaryen from the Spare.
Days after the wedding ceremony, The Young prince of Pentos and his noblemen come to Kings Landing. Jacaerys later learned was Prince Daemon himself who invited them, his words were because was Rhaena's birthplace, but Jace couldn't believe him.
They gifted Rhaena with silver, gold and gems from Essos. And they promised Maidens in waiting as the allowed her to tattoo her hands as a symbol of beauty and Power.

so when I started the Jacaerys x Rhaena idea was because I do roleplay and I wrote this ship.
friends to lovers, Rhaena and Jace studying together and falling in love, meanwhile Baela and Aemond where playing at kissing games.
So my partner tell me "We had not ship material, write one" and I do it. :)

In Stay, does Jace ever tell Rhaena that he had no experience just like her? She was worried that he did
Nope! I basically wrote it to be an unspoken understanding between them since they had been living together for years and would’ve known that about each other

How do you think Jace would treat Rhaena if they were together? I like how detailed your fic for them is
Thank you! I crackship but I wouldn’t want him married to her he brings drama with his parentage. I like that he’s caring and protective of Baela so I’m sure he would be the same. I feel like she’s going through a lot emotionally but doesn’t bring it up so instead of her being the empathetic and giving one atleast with Jace he’d tell her to give no fucks like he does and encourage her to speak her mind. (Even though he gives several fucks he acts like he doesn’t) Jace acts nice but something about him......can’t put my finger on it. The only snag is he’s a little reckless which would stress her out and get her into some situations. At least with Baela she can fit said (potentially violent) situations. It’s difficult to get a read on him sometimes but I feel like he would try embarrassingly hard to be romantic and fail lmfao and Rhaena’s nice so she wouldn’t laugh at him 🤭Maybe they got close growing up on Dragonstone and they talked shit about their parents for that gross wedding. Like I wrote in the fic I’m assuming she initially thought he was crazy for swinging the knife like that but now that I think about it her dad is Daemon.....
Modern Jacaena would try to resurrect Laena and Harwin on a Ouija board. I‘ll try to write something else for them but I gotta think of ideas. I was planning on working on a Mermaid AU chapter but yesterday life took a left turn so I couldn’t focus😂
