Note
AITA for asking my (36F she/her) girlfriend (32F she/they) to be out at work if she wants to become myanager ?
It's messy and complicated. I love my girlfriend very much and ultimately I think we are in a shitty situation with no real win and we have a different opinions on how to lose.
I am a polyamorous lesbian. I have a wife but I also sometimes have other secondary partners, and my wife does too.
I am happy to work in a place safe enough that I am out at work (about the lesbian part, not the polyamory part). My wife often comes at afterwork events and because she is a sweetheart, is loved by most of my colleagues.
I have been at this job for 4 years, that's how I met this colleague, Angel. This person looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. We talked, grew a bit closer then I met them again outside of work, at a queer event of my city. This time I recognized them. Angel is trans, non binary and fem presenting, at work she is not out and present herself as a cis heterosexual man. We talked, I obviously swore to keep it a secret but knowing this part of her helped us growing even closer together. We have now been dating for 3 years.
Angel has a longtime girlfriend (childhood sweethearts even) as her primary relationship. Let's call her Valentine. Valentine is working in the same industry but not in the same company. Because it's a niche field, everyone knows everyone and we often meet at work events. I also like her very much and we are good friends. Val is terrified to be out as polyamori at work because she is afraid of what the gossip will do to her work reputation. Valentine has a more public facing role than Angel and I and I absolutely respect her desire to protect what she has.
Even if it doesn't look like it, I do like too to keep private and professional life separated… Angel and I mostly connected outside of the workplace at queer events and are also both deeply involved in the drag scene and the queer political scene of our city. We never flirted at work and have even never stole a kiss on workground. We just happened to fall in love anyway even if we recognized the situation was less than ideal.
Our company has been through a lot of changes recently. My teamleader is leaving and Angel(that previously worked in another department) has been asked if she wants the role.
She does.
I have more experience than her even if she has more seniority with the company. I have been pretty open about wanting a senior expert position rather than managerial one and that's why I have not been offered the role. I am really happy for her and think she will be a great manager and recognize it's a great opportunity.
But I don't want her to be My manager. It's a really dangerous position to have over a romantic partner and she recognizes that. Moreover even if we managed to keep our relationship a secret until now, we know it's a precarious position. If our secret would be revealed while she IS my manager it could be terrible for us. She could be accused of taking advantage of me, or me to want to sleep my way through the top. Keep also in mind that she is male presenting at work and I am publicly a lesbian so yeah… We are also in very committed relationship which is another mess… It would not look good for us should we be forcibly out…
That's why I want to go to HR while her candidacy is being studied and explains the whole thing or at least some of them. I don't want to leave my team because my mentor is there and not a lot of people are doing what we do but maybe we could sort something out together? I would agree for Angel to be the team leader if I have a separate manager… Or maybe Angel could be the leader of another team ? Or I could become a more independent team member ? Angel and I are publicly work best friends so it would made sense anyway for me to have a different manager to keep things more fair.
Angel doesn't want to, and Valentine is absolutely against it. Angel thinks it will ruin her chance at the position. Maybe want to sort things out After she has been offered the job, maybe try to work out how we would work at manager/managee for some time before calling HR. I would not be against waiting for a real offer but listening her talk, I am afraid she intends to push things forever. Angel is afraid HR will reveal our secret to everyone. I recognize our HR team is not the best and even gossipy but it's about really private and protected things (in my country) : our sexual orientation and sexual identities. We also have a very good Union (with queer delegates) and even if I am unsure about HR, I am sure the union will remember them the law protecting us here and will ultimately behave appropriately. But I recognized it's a risk.
I want to break things of with Angel if she doesn't want to go to HR. My wife says it's mean and manipulative to use this kind of ultimatum. The way I see it I am just protecting myself. Angel is putting her job before our relationship and I am OK with that, she is also priorizing Valentine's needs (as she should) but in this case, I should be allowed to do the same and protect myself and my job. From my point of view, Angel could : refuse the position, go to HR, or accept the breakup.
AITA for this ultimatum ? Valentine thinks I am. Angel is confused. My wife disapproves but loves me to much to call me an asshole.

I’m by no means any sort of expert on any animal’s behavior so please feel free to ignore this random observation/ opinion.
But something I find interesting about people defending Moo Deng’s treatment is the frequent assertion that her keepers love her, as if that excuses everything. I honestly don’t doubt that her keepers love her, but that doesn’t mean their actions are appropriate.
To me it’s reminiscent of someone cornering and petting a dog against it’s will because “I just LOVE dogs!!!”. Loving the animal doesn’t mean you can’t inadvertently harm them with your actions.
Idk, I just have a lot of feelings on this and this was my attempt to sum them up. Hope it makes some sort of sense 😅
Oh yeah tell me about it! I appreciate you sharing this because I feel like I'm going insane when I see people being given the same information as I have and drawing a totally different conclusion from it.
Like... it's not okay just because they harass her a little bit. That's... not how that works.
Also I find the "trust the keeper" argument super ironic coming from someone who worked with dolphins - the species in human care that EVERYONE has an opinion on. And you'll tell people "hey, trust me on this. I see these dolphins every day. They participate in their own health care and don't do something if they don't want to. They are objectively in good welfare based on all the current data we have of what that looks like. I do behaviour records every day to prove this. And if I didn't think they were doing well, I'd be fighting tooth and nail to improve their lives or I would leave my job." (which I have done, btw)
And I'll still be told I'm enslaving dolphins and I do it for the money (when it was free labour - yay for animal industry exploitation - or absolutely bugger all). Trust the keeper... unless I watch a biased documentary packed full of misinformation. Then I know *more* than the keeper will and the keeper is just a moron who doesn't need a science degree and years of unpaid internship experience for this job!
But if it's a cute animal that has no preconceptions established of their welfare in human care? It's free game to coo over. Sure the keeper just dropped that squirming, panicking baby hippo he was trying to force into a tub! But he has so much experience because someone on reddit said so! It's actually all just desentisation! (not how desensisation works ever)
Can you tell I'm frustrated? Yeah...
Anyway I am usually the first in line to defend a zoo and their keepers - I know it's not easy to work in a zoo that's underresourced or in an education vaccum. But I'm going to call out bad handling when I see it. Especially when it's reinforced by social media clout and is being encouraged to continue by people justifying it as "desenitisation" or "actions of an experienced keeper."

Cigna’s nopeinator
Tumblr media
I'm touring my new, nationally bestselling novel The Bezzle! Catch me THURSDAY (May 2) in WINNIPEG, then Calgary (May 3), Vancouver (May 4), Tartu, Estonia, and beyond!
Tumblr media
Cigna – like all private health insurers – has two contradictory imperatives:
To keep its customers healthy; and
To make as much money for its shareholders as is possible.
Now, there's a hypothetical way to resolve these contradictions, a story much beloved by advocates of America's wasteful, cruel, inefficient private health industry: "If health is a "market," then a health insurer that fails to keep its customers healthy will lose those customers and thus make less for its shareholders." In this thought-experiment, Cigna will "find an equilibrium" between spending money to keep its customers healthy, thus retaining their business, and also "seeking efficiencies" to create a standard of care that's cost-effective.
But health care isn't a market. Most of us get our health-care through our employers, who offer small handful of options that nevertheless manage to be so complex in their particulars that they're impossible to directly compare, and somehow all end up not covering the things we need them for. Oh, and you can only change insurers once or twice per year, and doing so incurs savage switching costs, like losing access to your family doctor and specialists providers.
Cigna – like other health insurers – is "too big to care." It doesn't have to worry about losing your business, so it grows progressively less interested in even pretending to keep you healthy.
The most important way for an insurer to protect its profits at the expense of your health is to deny care that your doctor believes you need. Cigna has transformed itself into a care-denying assembly line.
Dr Debby Day is a Cigna whistleblower. Dr Day was a Cigna medical director, charged with reviewing denied cases, a job she held for 20 years. In 2022, she was forced out by Cigna. Writing for Propublica and The Capitol Forum, Patrick Rucker and David Armstrong tell her story, revealing the true "equilibrium" that Cigna has found:
https://www.propublica.org/article/cigna-medical-director-doctor-patient-preapproval-denials-insurance
Dr Day took her job seriously. Early in her career, she discovered a pattern of claims from doctors for an expensive therapy called intravenous immunoglobulin in cases where this made no medical sense. Dr Day reviewed the scientific literature on IVIG and developed a Cigna-wide policy for its use that saved the company millions of dollars.
This is how it's supposed to work: insurers (whether private or public) should permit all the medically necessary interventions and deny interventions that aren't supported by evidence, and they should determine the difference through internal reviewers who are treated as independent experts.
But as the competitive landscape for US healthcare dwindled – and as Cigna bought out more parts of its supply chain and merged with more of its major rivals – the company became uniquely focused on denying claims, irrespective of their medical merit.
In Dr Day's story, the turning point came when Cinga outsourced pre-approvals to registered nurses in the Philippines. Legally, a nurse can approve a claim, but only an MD can deny a claim. So Dr Day and her colleagues would have to sign off when a nurse deemed a procedure, therapy or drug to be medically unnecessary.
This is a complex determination to make, even under ideal circumstances, but Cigna's Filipino outsource partners were far from ideal. Dr Day found that nurses were "sloppy" – they'd confuse a mother with her newborn baby and deny care on that grounds, or confuse an injured hip with an injured neck and deny permission for an ultrasound. Dr Day reviewed a claim for a test that was denied because STI tests weren't "medically necessary" – but the patient's doctor had applied for a test to diagnose a toenail fungus, not an STI.
Even if the nurses' evaluations had been careful, Dr Day wanted to conduct her own, thorough investigation before overriding another doctor's judgment about the care that doctor's patient warranted. When a nurse recommended denying care "for a cancer patient or a sick baby," Dr Day would research medical guidelines, read studies and review the patient's record before signing off on the recommendation.
This was how the claims denial process is said to work, but it's not how it was supposed to work. Dr Day was markedly slower than her peers, who would "click and close" claims by pasting the nurses' own rationale for denying the claim into the relevant form, acting as a rubber-stamp rather than a skilled reviewer.
Dr Day knew she was slower than her peers. Cigna made sure of that, producing a "productivity dashboard" that scored doctors based on "handle time," which Cigna describes as the average time its doctors spend on different kinds of claims. But Dr Day and other Cigna sources say that this was a maximum, not an average – a way of disciplining doctors.
These were not long times. If a doctor asked Cigna not to discharge their patient from hospital care and a nurse denied that claim, the doctor reviewing that claim was supposed to spend not more than 4.5 minutes on their review. Other timelines were even more aggressive: many denials of prescription drugs were meant to be resolved in fewer than two minutes.
Cigna told Propublica and The Capitol Forum that its productivity scores weren't based on a simple calculation about whether its MD reviewers were hitting these brutal processing time targets, describing the scores as a proprietary mix of factors that reflected a nuanced view of care. But when Propublica and The Capitol Forum created a crude algorithm to generate scores by comparing a doctor's performance relative to the company's targets, they found the results fit very neatly into the actual scores that Cigna assigned to its docs:
The newsrooms’ formula accurately reproduced the scores of 87% of the Cigna doctors listed; the scores of all but one of the rest fell within 1 to 2 percentage points of the number generated by this formula. When asked about this formula, Cigna said it may be inaccurate but didn’t elaborate.
As Dr Day slipped lower on the productivity chart, her bosses pressured her bring her score up (Day recorded her phone calls and saved her emails, and the reporters verified them). Among other things, Dr Day's boss made it clear that her annual bonus and stock options were contingent on her making quota.
Cigna denies all of this. They smeared Dr Day as a "disgruntled former employee" (as though that has any bearing on the truthfulness of her account), and declined to explain the discrepancies between Dr Day's accusations and Cigna's bland denials.
This isn't new for Cigna. Last year, Propublica and Capitol Forum revealed the existence of an algorithmic claims denial system that allowed its doctors to bulk-deny claims in as little as 1.2 seconds:
https://www.propublica.org/article/cigna-pxdx-medical-health-insurance-rejection-claims
Cigna insisted that this was a mischaracterization, saying the system existed to speed up the approval of claims, despite the first-hand accounts of Cigna's own doctors and the doctors whose care recommendations were blocked by the system. One Cigna doctor used this system to "review" and deny 60,000 claims in one month.
Beyond serving as an indictment of the US for-profit health industry, and of Cigna's business practices, this is also a cautionary tale about the idea that critical AI applications can be resolved with "humans in the loop."
AI pitchmen claim that even unreliable AI can be fixed by adding a "human in the loop" that reviews the AI's judgments:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/04/23/maximal-plausibility/#reverse-centaurs
In this world, the AI is an assistant to the human. For example, a radiologist might have an AI double-check their assessments of chest X-rays, and revisit those X-rays where the AI's assessment didn't match their own. This robot-assisted-human configuration is called a "centaur."
In reality, "human in the loop" is almost always a reverse-centaur. If the hospital buys an AI, fires half its radiologists and orders the remainder to review the AI's superhuman assessments of chest X-rays, that's not an AI assisted radiologist, that's a radiologist-assisted AI. Accuracy goes down, but so do costs. That's the bet that AI investors are making.
Many AI applications turn out not to even be "AI" – they're just low-waged workers in an overseas call-center pretending to be an algorithm (some Indian techies joke that AI stands for "absent Indians"). That was the case with Amazon's Grab and Go stores where, supposedly, AI-enabled cameras counted up all the things you put in your shopping basket and automatically billed you for them. In reality, the cameras were connected to Indian call-centers where low-waged workers made those assessments:
https://pluralistic.net/2024/01/29/pay-no-attention/#to-the-little-man-behind-the-curtain
This Potemkin AI represents an intermediate step between outsourcing and AI. Over the past three decades, the growth of cheap telecommunications and logistics systems let corporations outsource customer service to low-waged offshore workers. The corporations used the excuse that these subcontractors were far from the firm and its customers to deny them any agency, giving them rigid scripts and procedures to follow.
This was a very usefully dysfunctional system. As a customer with a complaint, you would call the customer service line, wait for a long time on hold, spend an interminable time working through a proscribed claims-handling process with a rep who was prohibited from diverging from that process. That process nearly always ended with you being told that nothing could be done.
At that point, a large number of customers would have given up on getting a refund, exchange or credit. The money paid out to the few customers who were stubborn or angry enough to karen their way to a supervisor and get something out of the company amounted to pennies, relative to the sums the company reaped by ripping off the rest.
The Amazon Grab and Go workers were humans in robot suits, but these customer service reps were robots in human suits. The software told them what to say, and they said it, and all they were allowed to say was what appeared on their screens. They were reverse centaurs, serving as the human faces of the intransigent robots programmed by monopolists that were too big to care.
AI is the final stage of this progression: robots without the human suits. The AI turns its "human in the loop" into a "moral crumple zone," which Madeleine Clare Elish describes as "a component that bears the brunt of the moral and legal responsibilities when the overall system malfunctions":
https://estsjournal.org/index.php/ests/article/view/260
The Filipino nurses in the Cigna system are an avoidable expense. As Cigna's own dabbling in algorithmic claim-denial shows, they can be jettisoned in favor of a system that uses productivity dashboards and other bossware to push doctors to robosign hundreds or thousands of denials per day, on the pretense that these denials were "reviewed" by a licensed physician.

I've used fairly common level names for this internship as I couldn't think of any others that fit perfectly. Some might sound familiar as I utilized them from The Sims and Sims 2 console games, such as Lab Assistant and Lab Cleaner respectively, although I haven't played those games myself, so the tones used here may differ. The work days for this internship are scheduled for Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays due to Thursday is considered as a holiday if you have the Seasons expansion pack and Shop Club meetings are on Tuesday and Wednesday if you have the Generations expansion pack. The package file includes uniforms and one of them is taken from the Generations expansion pack, specifically from the Catalyst Chemistry Lab Station (Chemistry table) excluding the goggles. Recognizing that not everyone may have this expansion pack, I've created two versions. The Generations version features a lab coat for levels 1 and 2, while the Base Game version uses base game outfits for all three levels. Please download and use only one version in your game! 📣 Upon reaching level three in their internship, teens will be eligible for promotion to the Science career upon applying once they become young adults. I'm confused about your argument, if you don't think degrees should exist as a barrier for participating a particular profession then how you do believe a standard should be maintained? I'm getting an impression you've got all this experience and credentials in academia and are now basically coming out and saying it's all bullshit. And when we're talking about "cheating", do we mean like using accommodations that bend the rules or just not bothering to do the work at all?
ok you might want to read my last few reblogs, which go into some more depth on this. like ave said earlier, the university as it exists now doesn't exist to spread knowledge but to restrict it. so the idea that a degree granted in this system is primarily a means of ensuring 'qualification' is an idealist fiction. again and like i said earlier, a degree doesn't necessarily even line up with what job a person ends up getting---which should tell us a lot about what a degree actually communicates and the way 'being educated' is evaluated independently of the extent to which a person's degree actually taught them anything of value to a given profession. what a degree mostly signifies in actuality is that a person succeeded at being in school; there are many different ways this can happen (even at the advanced level---any academic can tell you, MAs and PhDs do get awarded to people all the time who are incompetent or produce shitty work). there are people with degrees whom i respect immensely, but i don't assume that an academic credential means a person is 'smart' or that their work is high-quality. like, ted cruz went to harvard and herman cain had an md; credentialled experts have fucked up the covid pandemic, produced the industry-funded work that justifies medical fatphobia, etc etc. none of this critique is a new position on my part.
fundamentally idgaf about cheating because i don't think it's unjust to cheat a system that is itself unjust. i don't think it's wrong morally to view a degree as a hoop you need to jump through in order to access certain jobs, and to do what you need to do in order to get through that hoop. in practice cheating is very often the result of students who desperately need eg to pass a class in order to keep a scholarship, who do not have the financial wiggle room to fail and are not being given options or support by profs or the institution. but tbc there is no way to crack down on cheating that only targets 'less sympathetic' cases!

Shadows in the night
---
Blüdhaven’s docks were shrouded in mist, the faint smell of saltwater mingling with industrial grime.
Nightwing perched on a rooftop, scanning the shadows below. Reports of glowing, shadowy figures prowling the area had brought him here, but the silence that greeted him was unnerving.
“You’re going to be disappointed if you’re waiting for them to walk into a trap.”
The voice startled him. He turned sharply, escrima sticks at the ready, to see a figure hovering behind him—white hair, glowing red eyes, and a casual smirk that spoke of confidence and experience.
“You must be Nightwing,” the stranger said, crossing his arms.
“And you are?” Nightwing asked, keeping his stance defensive.
“Dan Phantom,” the man replied, floating closer but keeping his distance. “Ghost expert, problem-solver, all-around powerhouse. You’re welcome.”
Nightwing raised an eyebrow. “Can’t say I’ve heard of you.”
“Figures,” Dan said with a shrug. “I don’t exactly do the whole ‘hero’ thing. I’m here for one reason: to take out the Wraiths before they turn this city into a ghost town. Literally.”
Nightwing studied him. “And by ‘take out,’ you mean...?"
“Exactly what you think I mean,” Dan said, his smirk widening. “These things don’t stop. They’re not people; they’re feral monsters. Only way to deal with them is to end them.”
“That’s not how I work,” Nightwing said firmly.
“Yeah, I figured,” Dan replied, glancing at the escrima sticks. “You seem like the ‘capture and contain’ type. Hope you’ve got a plan, because those things don’t play nice.”
Before Nightwing could respond, a guttural roar echoed through the mist. A massive -Wraith?- its glowing green form rippling with energy burst from a warehouse, followed by a swarm of smaller creatures.
Dan grinned. “Showtime.”
The fight was chaos. Nightwing’s movements were precise and controlled, using his escrima sticks to disable the smaller Wraiths and deploying containment devices to trap them. Dan, by contrast, tore through the creatures with brutal efficiency, his ectoplasmic blasts reducing them to nothing.
“Careful, bird boy!” Dan called, blasting a Wraith that lunged at Nightwing. “These things don’t mess around.”
“Neither do I,” Nightwing replied, flipping over another Wraith and slamming it into one of his containment devices.
Dan floated over, studying the trapped Wraith with a raised eyebrow. “Seriously? That’s your plan? What are you going to do with them—teach them yoga?”
Nightwing didn’t look up. “It’s better than destroying them outright.”
“Sure, if you don’t mind them breaking out and trying to eat you later,” Dan said, firing another blast at a charging Wraith.
Despite their differences, the two worked surprisingly well together. Nightwing’s precision and strategy balanced Dan’s overwhelming power, the unlikely pair cutting through the Wraiths with ease.
When the last of the creatures was dealt with, Dan turned to Nightwing, his smirk firmly in place. “Not bad, bird boy. For someone who insists on playing nice, you’re actually useful in a fight.”
“And for someone who doesn’t play by the rules, you’re... effective,” Nightwing admitted grudgingly.
Dan chuckled, a green portal swirling open behind him. “High praise. But don’t get used to me doing the heavy lifting. Your city, your problem.”
“Good,” Nightwing said. “Because I don’t like your methods.”
Dan grinned. “And yet we made a pretty good team. Think about that the next time you’re struggling to keep this city from falling apart.”
Before Nightwing could reply, Dan stepped into the portal, his form fading into the green light.
As the portal vanished, Nightwing stood alone in the aftermath of the fight. He didn’t agree with Dan’s methods—probably never would—but he couldn’t deny that the man had been right about one thing: the Wraiths were a serious threat.
For now, the city was safe. And if Dan Phantom ever returned, Nightwing knew exactly what he’d be up against.

Hey, I love your account!❤️ I started my journey of being the highest version of myself. I wanted to ask some tips on how to be more intelligent and do you have some suggestions on podcasts, people you can follow that active on politics/history? English isn’t my native language.
Thanks! ❤️
Hi love! Thank you so much <333 I can't think of any specific podcasts/blogs at the moment, but sharing some other advice below. Bisous xx
Here are some of my tips:
Read books, articles, blogs, studies, and journals from credible & fact-checked sources
Watch & listen to evidence-based documentaries and podcasts
Take expert-backed courses and classes (from universities, industry leaders/certified organizations)
Attend forums/lectures from industry leaders museums, libraries, etc. (Virtually or in-person)
Talk to people in different fields and from different walks of life
Travel (globally, domestically, or locally), explore museums, parks, and stores in your area
Ask for feedback on your creative or skill-based projects and work; or insights from trusted people in your life on different situations in your life, from your past, or their greatest life lessons
Remain curious and diligent regarding your pursuit of knowledge. Live as a lifelong student
For emotional intelligence:
Embrace self-awareness & self-reflection: Observe how you feel, behave, and how people generally respond to your words/actions in different situations
Practice self-regulation: Learn to differentiate between your feelings and the actions that would be appropriate in a specific setting or interaction. Internalize that feelings are fleeting and non-factual. You're in control of how you respond/(don't) act on these emotions
Engage in active listening: Pay attention to what others are saying with the intent of understanding, not responding
Focus on emotional differentiation: Understand where your thoughts, feelings, intentions, and opinions end and another person's identity/perception begins
Display radical empathy and acceptance: Understand that almost all people's words and actions result from their own beliefs, past experiences, and current life circumstances/priorities. Put yourself in their shoes when attempting to understand their choices, behaviors, and times they come to you to discuss a problem, success, or major life decision. Accept that you can only control what you do. Very little of other people's actions/the world's workings are personal. Things are happening around you, not to you
Let go of your ego: View yourself as objectively as possible with the potential for improvement. Abolish any superior complex or overwhelming desire to prove your self-importance in others' lives and decisions
Remain open-minded: Question your own beliefs and opinions. Stay curious as to why you believe them to be true/authentic to you. Allow your opinions to change or have the capacity to modify your beliefs upon hearing new information. Understand your worldview and values are valid, but they're not definitively correct beliefs, just because they resonate/feel comfortable for you
Be receptive to feedback: Embrace constructive criticism as a self-improvement tool. Approach it with curiosity and optimism, not as a personal attack
Differentiate between your feelings and capabilities: Your thoughts are not facts. Remember you can do things you don't feel like doing most of the time (work, waking up in the morning, working out, etc.). Learn the difference between being a slave to your emotions and genuinely running out of energy

Part 2 or a remake of this, yess
There is like a 10 year age gap, I believe Jack was in his 30s when the accident happened, so Reader is in their 20s making their way on racing things.
Italics for past time and details about yourself
-----------
“This is devastating” a car race has gone wrong before, but this wrong? “Jack Salter seems to have lost track of his path along with another racer. Everyone at the expectation of what is going to happen next.
“Is he all right?” Jack asked while the paramedics were taking him into the ambulance “He seems to be stable, we need to hurry”, assured his trainer.
“You’ll be okay, Jack, don’t fall sleep” he heard a familiar voice before getting unconscious.
.
.
.
.
Present Time
Jack got a call from that stupid gremlin Danny Moore while he was working. Gamer racers? People who probably never drove a real car before on these powerful vehicles? Crazy idea, but here he was.
“Oh, but our special team is not complete yet” Danny was showing him the GT Academy, but once they reached the racetrack for the academy he stopped at the pits. Jack just sighs. “Now what?”
“I want our racers to have a different kind of life experience besides yours” Moore gave him a little smile.
“Stop talking around the bush, who is it”
“Well, you know them”
Jack just closed his eyes.
.
.
A demi sport sedan of (your design) was nearing them on the pits. The driver’s door opened reveling a (your hair color) person. They got closer to them. The marketing expert clapped his hands and opened his arms to embrace Y/N in a hug.
“Can’t believe you still are so energetic, Daniel” Y/N greeted him. He smiled but also sensed the tension between the other two. He pulls apart from Y/N and gestured to Jack “I’m pretty sure you remember this big guy”, Moore gave Jack a gentle pat in his belly, making the taller man grunt.
“Of course, hard to forget a man with his nose. Hello, Jack”
“Hello, Y/N” they gave each other a quick look and turn their eyes to any other place possible.
Danny clapped his hands again “Well, let’s get to it!” He gave both Jack and Y/N a pat on their backs before leaving to greet the players.
Once they saw the gaming racers arrive and Jack gave them a depressing speech, Danny introduced Y/N to relieve the pressure of the competitors. “Hello, I’m Y/N, I love racing so much that I’m an Industrial Designer to understand better everything about cars. I’m a racer but since I was young, I participated in street racing. That’s why Daniel here wanted me in the team, to teach you about how savage real racers will be with you.” They gave them a wink before getting in their place behind Danny.
“All right, get comfy guys, but not so much because you start your training tomorrow” the marketer for Nissan dismissed everyone.
Jack was left confused, so they got a degree to understand more about cars?
.
.
.
.
A couple months before the accident
“Hey, you know it wasn’t your fault, right?” they said, Y/N’s fingers touching only with the tip of the fingers in his shoulder.
“Yes it was, I should’ve more careful!” he got angry, everyone kept saying that it wasn’t his fault, that maybe could have happened with another person. He push Y/N’s hand away, but they got used to that reactions.
“Besides, what do you know about safety? The only track you know is the street, you have never been in a real race” He added fueled by the anger remembering the crash and the loss of a life.
“Is as dangerous if not more, but whatever, I tried everything to cheer you up, but it seems that you never bear my presence. I’m sorry, I hope you find peace someday.”
Y/N met Jack when they started to become more interested in racing in a professional way, not that they doesn’t enjoy street racing, but earning cups and medals looked really nice.
Jack doesn’t say anything nor gives them a glance. They picked their things up and left him alone in silence.
.
.
.
.
The team of Danny Moore, Jack Salter and Y/N worked just fine, even if the racers ended up with mixed instructions from the older racers. Moore found it problematic, he needed Jack to be synergic with Y/N so the racers could get better and better.
“Jack, my brother”
“We are not brothers”
“Oh, c’mon, we been working for days now.”
“Whaddaya need” Jack didn’t enjoy when people interrupted his Walkman’s sessions.
“Welp, always straight to the point. The three of us, we are making a great team, but no perfect.”
If Jack got a cent for every time he sighs for something that came out of Danny’s mouth, he will have tons of money. “Now what, just tell me and I will work on it”
“Nice of you to say that. Apologize to Them”.
Jack lifted his eyebrows surprised. “You think that’s the issue? We are fine, we talk the necessary.”
“Yeah, like divorced parents. That’s the problem”
“…”
.
.
.
.
“I liked the turn you made on that weird curb, but next time…” Y/N really takes pleasure in giving feedback to the young drivers. Jack approached and cleared his throat; the other instructor paused at the interruption and turned their head.
“Yes…?” Y/N raised a brow, clearly confused because Jack never shared a word with them aside from things related with the competitors or Danny (Danny himself is a topic).
“Can we… uh, talk, like the two of us” he tried to say as quiet as possible so the others couldn’t hear.
“Sure, let me finish with them” Y/N gave some last instructions to the gamers and then followed him far from the pits.
“Well, I don’t know how to start”
“Why are we here, then” Y/N crossed their arms.
“Fine, fine. Look, I’m sorry” he ran his hand over his face trying to find the courage. “I… what happened 15 years ago wasn’t my fault, you were by my side even if I never liked it. I was young and stupid to push you like that. I’m sorry” he ended and looked at the (your eye color). "I also took you for granted as a driver, hell you drive better than most of those assholes out there"
They cast their face down for a moment and then up to his eyes. “It’s fine, I appreciate your apology. Everything is in the past now” Y/N offered a small smile to him. He nodded his head. "And thanks for the compliment, it means a lot coming from you."
.
.
.
.
After that they manage to find a better rhythm of teaching the competitors. A couple of weeks have passed, Y/N and Jack became friends (the first time they met doesn’t count to Y/N since it was one-sided). Sharing meals together without Danny.
Danny Moore got an eye for perfect opportunities, and again he found one. He noticed the long glances Jack gave to Y/N, and how he worries when Y/N got in a car to give the gamers extra lessons.
“Jack, my brother” He said to Jack once they were in the press room alone.
“Jesus Christ, now what?”

Was watching a video yesterday when an argument was made for ai art that rubbed me the wrong way but didn't know how to express my thoughts at the time. (I'm an art student, not an expert. Would love to discuss.)
It was a pro-ai argument for art that discussed how throughout history when new developments in art were made, it was discredited every time by people who didn't see it as "real art" (which for me brought to mind examples of the photograph, conceptual art, the shift from hand-drawn to digitized animation, etc). By being anti-ai, the argument was that people are discrediting a new technology completely that could bring about great change and completely shift the artistic landscape in the future.
Additionally, there was a mention of data usage and how they very much wanted their data used to contribute to the datasets for ai development, and had opted in, specifically mentioning that everyone should get a choice in whether or not their data should be used, which I very much agree with. This part of the argument I'm not concerned with, I think informed and consensual data contribution to companies is so important and if you want to give away your data for that cause that's just fine (... i think you should be PAID with MONEY for that data usage, but that's a whole other thing). It has to be consented to, and if people opt out, you can't use their data. Seemingly easy.
It's the part about historical movements that got to me, lumping together artistic / technological developments as positive jumps forward with a certain group of detractors who are on the "wrong side of history". I think examining what is actually at play now and what makes this situation different from previous examples is what people are so concerned about.
My issues with ai that i can think of off the top of my head:
steals from millions of people without their consent
heavily monetized and intertwined in corporate profit
destabilizes entire industries, creative unions, countless jobs
aids in misinformation and constant plagiarism
disrupts the education of students globally and the jobs of teachers
massive environmental impact and energy requirements to keep the development going
No artistic movement I can think of has had such dire consequences. I don't just hate ai as an art medium because it makes shitty garbage, because it's eliminating jobs I once thought I could have, even because it's stealing from me, actively, right now. I am overwhelmed by the amount terrible results that have emerged from the development of ai, and no matter how interesting art eventually becomes with the aid of that technology, I will never forget what that technology is taking from people across the world. Until those problems are fixed (some of which NEVER will be because exploitations is so engrained in the way ai functions), I can never call myself someone who is pro-ai.
I think of the development of photography, specifically the daguerreotype (a technology that was stolen by Dagguerre from the original inventor Niepce) which came about and changed the landscape of images. Painters who once did the job a photographer could do in a fraction of the time lost jobs, and there was a struggle to determine the legitimacy of photography as an art and a science.
I think of the growth of conceptual art, working beyond the image to create experiences, to use one's body as the canvas, to experiment with performance, perception, endurance. People criticized these movements as non-art movements, but they endure today as really important concepts in the art world.
Even the more recent shift in the 80s-90s, the shift from hand-drawn animation to digital animation. People did lose jobs, industries did shift and that form of animation became much harder as digital animation became the cheaper, quicker alternative which was preferred by companies funding projects.
These cases have never had such vast impacts as we're facing now with the growth of ai, and even though there is work being created today including the use of certain ai algorithms that I do enjoy and find really interesting (ex. Hito Steyerl, Rachel Maclean, Heather Dewey-Hagborg), this doesn't erase the constant advertisement I receive about shitty ai programs, search engines overrun by ai images, the PEERS I have around me who go to university today and write assignments using ai, and the massive water usage of tech centers dedicated to house ai systems.
This topic is exhaustive and I've only barely gotten my thoughts out on this, may or may not add onto this later. The industry is constantly changing and I know things have to get better, but the rock bottom feeling I'm experiencing when I face the subject is sooo strong. Going back to drawing comics now.

Best Nursing Assignment Help Service
Nursing is one of the most challenging yet rewarding professions in the healthcare industry. However, the path to becoming a nurse isn't easy. Nursing students often find themselves overwhelmed by the rigorous coursework, clinical practice, and the countless assignments that come with the territory. These assignments play a critical role in their education, helping them develop the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality patient care.
But what happens when the pressure becomes too much? Many students turn to nursing assignment help services to ease the burden. In this guide, we’ll explore why nursing assignments are so important, the challenges students face, and how nursing assignment help can be a valuable resource.
The Importance of Nursing Assignments
Nursing assignments aren’t just busy work. They are carefully designed to help students grow academically and professionally. Through assignments, students learn how to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, preparing them for the real-world challenges they'll face in clinical settings.
These tasks also serve as a tool for educators to assess critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills—key traits of any competent nurse. Furthermore, nursing assignments contribute to a deeper understanding of patient care, medical procedures, and ethical considerations.
Common Types of Nursing Assignments
Nursing students encounter various types of assignments throughout their education, each focusing on different aspects of nursing practice.
Case Studies: These assignments require students to analyze patient scenarios and develop care plans. They help in understanding patient care from diagnosis to treatment.
Research Papers: Research assignments encourage students to engage with the latest medical literature and contribute to evidence-based practice.
Care Plans: Developing individualized care plans allows students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios, ensuring patients receive tailored care.
Reflective Journals: Reflective writing helps students think critically about their experiences in clinical practice, encouraging personal and professional growth.
Challenges Students Face in Nursing Assignments
Nursing assignments come with their own set of challenges. Balancing academic work with clinical practice, family obligations, and personal life is a struggle for many students.
Time Management Issues: Nursing students often juggle tight schedules, making it difficult to complete assignments on time.
Understanding Complex Medical Terms: Nursing is a specialized field with its own language. Mastering medical terminology can be daunting, especially for those new to the field.
Critical Thinking Development: Transitioning from textbook knowledge to real-life application requires strong critical thinking skills, which many students struggle to develop.
APA Referencing and Formatting: Academic writing standards, like APA formatting, are strict and can be tricky for students unfamiliar with them.
Why Seek Nursing Assignment Help?
Given these challenges, it’s no wonder that many nursing students seek outside help to complete their assignments.
Managing Workload: Nursing assignment help services can alleviate the pressure, allowing students to focus on other aspects of their studies, such as clinical practice.
Improving Grades: These services provide expertly written assignments, often resulting in better grades.
Learning Through Expert Assistance: By working with professionals in the field, students gain valuable insights that enhance their learning.
Time for Clinical Practice: More time can be allocated to hands-on learning, which is crucial for any nursing student.
Features of a Good Nursing Assignment Help Service
When looking for nursing assignment help, there are a few key features to consider:
Expert Writers with Nursing Background: Look for services that employ writers with nursing or healthcare backgrounds. This ensures the assignments are accurate and relevant.
Timely Delivery: Meeting deadlines is crucial in nursing school, and a good service will always deliver on time.
Plagiarism-Free Work: Originality is key, and the best services will provide plagiarism-free assignments.
24/7 Customer Support: Look for services that offer around-the-clock support for any last-minute questions or changes.
Customization and Adherence to Guidelines: Every assignment is different, and a good service will tailor the work to meet your specific requirements.
How Nursing Assignment Help Services Work
Most nursing assignment help services follow a simple process:
Submit Your Requirements: Provide detailed information about your assignment, including the topic, word count, deadline, and any special instructions.
Work with Expert Writers: The service will assign your task to a qualified writer who understands the subject.
Review the Draft: You’ll receive a draft for review and have the opportunity to request revisions if necessary.
Final Submission: After making revisions, the final assignment is delivered to you, ready for submission.
Tips for Choosing the Best Nursing Assignment Help Service
Not all services are created equal, so here are some tips to help you choose the right one:
Look for Expertise in Nursing Field: Ensure the service has writers with healthcare qualifications.
Check for Reviews and Testimonials: Student reviews can give you a good sense of a service’s reliability and quality.
Consider Pricing and Budget: While you want quality work, make sure the service fits within your budget.
Ensure They Offer Revisions: Revisions are crucial to getting the best final product.
The Ethical Considerations in Using Assignment Help
Using nursing assignment help services ethically is important. These services should be seen as a learning tool rather than a shortcut to success.
Ensuring it’s Used as a Learning Tool: Use the assignments provided as a study guide to improve your understanding of the subject.
Avoiding Plagiarism: Always ensure the work is original and properly referenced.
Fostering Independent Learning: Nursing students should use these services to complement their learning, not replace it.
How to Write a Nursing Assignment on Your Own
While assignment help services are great, learning to complete assignments on your own is crucial for academic and professional growth.
Understanding the Question: Break down the assignment question and identify what is being asked.
Researching the Topic: Use credible sources like peer-reviewed journals and textbooks.
Developing an Outline: Plan your assignment structure before writing to ensure clarity.
Writing Clearly and Concisely: Avoid unnecessary jargon and keep your writing precise.
Citing Properly: Follow the required citation style to avoid plagiarism.
Common Mistakes in Nursing Assignments
Many students make similar mistakes when completing their nursing assignments:
Failing to Answer the Question: Always ensure your work directly addresses the assignment prompt.
Poor Research: Relying on non-credible sources weakens the quality of the assignment.
Inadequate Referencing: Ensure you cite all your sources correctly to avoid plagiarism.
Not Proofreading: Spelling and grammar mistakes can easily lower your grade.
How to Improve Your Nursing Assignment Writing Skills
Improving your nursing assignment writing skills takes time and practice:
Practice Regularly: The more you write, the better you’ll get.
Seek Feedback: Always ask for feedback from professors or peers to help you improve.
Use Online Tools: Grammar checkers, citation generators, and other tools can help you refine your writing.
Benefits of Collaborating with Peers on Nursing Assignments
Collaborating with classmates can be a great way to tackle nursing assignments:
Sharing Knowledge: Group discussions can lead to better understanding of complex topics.
Different Perspectives: Collaboration exposes you to different ideas and approaches.
Improving Problem-Solving Skills: Working together helps develop better solutions to nursing challenges.
Nursing Assignment Help and Academic Integrity
Maintaining academic integrity is essential, even when using nursing assignment help services.
Maintaining Integrity in Academic Work: Always use the service as a tool for learning, not just for completing tasks.
When Help Becomes Cheating: Ensure that you’re still doing your own work and using help services ethically.
Conclusion
Nursing assignments are an integral part of the educational process, preparing students for the complex world of healthcare. While they can be challenging, nursing assignment help services offer a valuable resource for those who need assistance. However, it’s important to balance external help with personal effort to ensure true learning and academic integrity.

Loredana Bertè & Mia Martini: 2 voices from Calabria, Italy
Italian sisters and singers Loredana Bertè and Mia Martini were born in Bagnara Calabra (Calabria, Italy), respectively in 1950 and 1947.
Mia Martini is considered, by many experts, one of the most important and expressive female voices of Italian music, characterised by her interpretative intensity and her soulful performance.
Tumblr media
Her debut album, Oltre la collina is regarded as one of the best Italian albums made by a female artist. Hit songs like Piccolo uomo, Donna sola, Minuetto, made her one of the most popular artists of Italian music in the 1970s, both nationally and internationally. She is the only female artist to have won two Festivalbar consecutively, respectively in 1972 and in 1973.
In 1977, two important encounters occurred in Martini's life: the first with Charles Aznavour, with whom she began a musical collaboration, and the second with singer-songwriter Ivano Fossati, with whom she started an artistic and sentimental partnership.
youtube
In 1982, she sang E non finisce mica il cielo, written by Fossati, at Sanremo Music Festival, where she received the Critics Award, which was created specifically for her interpretation and which was named after her as "Mia Martini" Critics Awards from 1996, the year after her death.
In 1983, she was forced to leave the music industry and quit her career, as the music sector and colleagues considered her a person bringing bad luck and barred her from participating in any music and TV events, radio shows and concerts. This kept her away from the music scene for seven years. Only in 1989 was she able to reprise her career, when she returned to perform at Sanremo Music Festival, singing Almeno tu nell'universo, which brought her a new success.
She died on 12 May 1995 in Cardano al Campo at the age of 47.
After her death, the town Bagnara Calabra dedicated to the singer.
Tumblr media
Loredana Bertè is a singer-songwriter and artist who has been in the music industry for over five decades. She has released twenty-one studio albums, five live albums, and three soundtracks throughout her career. In addition to her work as a solo artist, she has also collaborated with other renowned artists such as Gianna Nannini, Angelo Branduardi, and Claudio Baglioni.
Tumblr media
In her long career, Bertè has experimented with different genres, from rock to reggae, from funk to pop. Bertè is known for the eccentric clothing she wears onstage for her performances.
One of her most popular song is E la luna bussò, an Italian reggae ballad which stayed on the Italian Singles Chart for 29 weeks.
youtube
In the 1980s Bertè achieved success in Italy with songs such as Maledetto Luna-Park, Una Sera d'Ottobre, and 'Ti Sento'. She also released two successful studio albums during this period: 'Loredana' (1985) and 'Loredana Berté' (1986). In 1988 she represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song 'Non siamo soli'.
Bertè is one of Italy's most beloved singers and has achieved great success throughout her career. She has sold over 12 million records worldwide and continues to be an inspiration to generations of fans across the globe.

Embracing Accessibility and Diversity: The Vital Role of Remote Presentations in Game Conventions
Tumblr media
In recent years, the gaming industry has witnessed an unprecedented surge in popularity and innovation. This phenomenon is often celebrated at large international conventions like Gamescom / devcom, where developers, enthusiasts, and creators from around the world gather to showcase their latest creations, share insights, and explore new horizons.
However, as the gaming community continues to expand, so does the need to ensure that these conventions remain accessible and inclusive for everyone. Enter the concept of live remote presentations – a powerful tool that preserves diversity, fosters representation, and empowers those who might otherwise be excluded.
During the pandemic, many conventions like GDC, Gamescom, Gen Con, etc. decided to go remote rather than cancel their events outright. Now that COVID-19 is under control, these same conventions have decided to return to an IRL format for the obvious benefits of fostering greater networking opportunity, spontaneous collaborations, personal branding, cultural exchange...among other advantages.
We were very fortunate this year that even though Gamescom / devcom was one of thsoe conventions that returned to an in-person format this year, they were able to accomodate our Founder / Creative Director Alx Preston's remote talk From Pixels to Polygons – Bringing the Hyper Light Universe into the Third Dimension. They decided to make an exception to the in-person only format this year due to Alx's specific health considerations.
But maybe a hybrid format should be the norm, and not the exception?
The Power of Representation and Diversity
One of the most valuable assets of the gaming industry is its diverse and passionate community. Gamers, creators, and developers hail from various backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives, enriching the industry with fresh ideas and innovative concepts. Embracing this diversity fosters creativity and leads to games that resonate with a broader range of players. But for this diversity to flourish, the voices and viewpoints of all members of the community need to be heard.
Accessibility as a Cornerstone of Inclusion
International conventions like Gamescom attract attendees from around the world, turning them into melting pots of ideas and creativity. However, the barrier of physical attendance can inadvertently lead to exclusion. Not everyone has the financial means, the physical health, or the time to journey halfway around the globe to participate in such events. This exclusion can inadvertently stifle unique perspectives and novel insights that could otherwise contribute to the growth of the industry.
The Crucial Role of Remote Presentations
Live remote presentations offer a solution that bridges the gap between physical presence and accessibility. By allowing speakers to present their ideas, projects, and perspectives remotely, conventions can ensure that individuals who might not be able to attend in person can still contribute meaningfully. Here are a few compelling reasons why this approach is essential:
Global Representation: Remote presentations empower voices from different continents, cultures, and backgrounds to participate and share their experiences, especially including folks from foreign countries who might encounter time or money difficulties getting visas to travel. This widens the scope of perspectives and ensures a more holistic representation of the gaming community.
Inclusivity: Everyone should have an equal opportunity to engage with the industry they love. Remote presentations provide a level playing field for those with limited physical abilities, financial constraints, or geographical limitations.
Time and Resource Efficiency: For busy professionals, remote presentations eliminate the need for extensive travel and time away from work or other commitments. This encourages a more diverse pool of experts to contribute without sacrificing their personal and professional obligations.
Reduced Environmental Impact: International travel carries a significant carbon footprint. Embracing remote presentations aligns with sustainability efforts and demonstrates a commitment to reducing the environmental impact of such events.
Technological Advancements: With the rise of high-quality video conferencing tools, remote presentations can be seamless and engaging. This eliminates potential technical barriers and ensures that remote speakers can effectively communicate their ideas.
Looking Ahead: A More Inclusive Gaming Community
In conclusion, the gaming industry's continued growth hinges on the cultivation of diverse ideas and perspectives. International conventions like Gamescom play a pivotal role in this process by providing a platform for individuals to share their insights. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the limitations that physical attendance imposes on accessibility and representation. By embracing live remote presentations, and offering a hybrid format, these conventions can pave the way for a more inclusive and vibrant gaming community.
In a world where technology connects us across continents, it's only fitting that the gaming industry utilizes these tools to break down barriers and amplify voices. By making remote presentations a staple of game conventions, we celebrate the richness of our community while ensuring that everyone has a seat at the table, regardless of their location, resources, or physical abilities.
