How do you think bruce would react to a Robin pile situation?
oooh this is a fun thought. i think it depends *entirely* if you're working with a morally stable Bruce or a Bruce who's a little fucked up and dead dove-ish. somehow, i think it's actually more fun if it's a completely stable Bruce bc that adds so much more drama and issues if Bruce is deeply unsettled by the idea. if it was maybe just Jason and Dick or Jason and Tim dating that's sort of understandable. Bruce knows that while he may see them all as his sons (except Steph bc do know Robin pile will *always* include Steph for me and tbh Cass too as an honorary member. they're all going in the pile.) but he understands that doesn't mean they see each other as brothers. he respects the nuanced and complicated relationships scattered across all of the Batfam.
but if all of them are *dating*? or at the very least sleeping together? that raises a lot of logistical red flags. the most obvious one is the age gap of it all- at the biggest gap you have Damian and Dick who are an easy fifteen years apart, meeting when Damian is a kid. not to mention how many of them have tried to kill each other at some point. it shouldn't work and Bruce doesn't like that it does. Bruce has a history of wanting to control the relationships of the Batkids when he disapproves. and so he'd absolutely try to break them up. at first, he paints it purely as a logistical issue. saying it's smartest not to bring feelings into work and that this is dangerous. i think it's especially fun if this happens at a time when Bruce doesn't approve of Steph or Jason so that *also* plays into it, he doesn't want either of them near the ones he currently considers to be his family. he says he wants to protect them and wants to keep them safe. he tries to appeal to who he thinks would be more logical and listen to him the most. first Dick, and then when that doesn't work, Tim. and when neither of them listen, i *do* think Bruce would stoop to the low of trying to break them up by fabricating internal conflict between them, hoping to divide and conquer the weird polycule it's become.
while i don't think Bruce would be jealous in the sense he wants to be included, i *do* think he's wildly dislike the Robins having this close bond that makes them trust each other implicitly more than they trust Bruce. they will defer to each other before him and clearly keep things from him. he'd despise that. it's an inner circle he's not let in on and it makes him lose aspects of control over some of them, especially Damian who's the youngest and his son, who Bruce deserves the most control over. he would drive himself mad about it. at first for genuine reasons over the perceived fucked up nature of the relationship (even when each of them have confirmed that it is entirely consensual and they're happy) and to protect them. but he becomes so bitter over being ignored. they openly prioritize each other over him when the truth comes out because they see no point in hiding it. and i could definitely see Jason gloating about how he's back in the family whether Bruce likes it or not. Bruce would be beyond pissed about it. he's just never recovering. trying to stop them gets nowhere, even if he manages to cause some internal conflict.
eventually, Bruce would be forced to accept it for fear he would lose all of them. but he's *not* going to be happy about it and he keeps making side comments, hoping to get through to one of them eventually. it doesn't work, but he's definitely not going to stop trying. i also think on some level it would just disgust him a little bit in a visceral way, since they're his kids to him and he doesn't like to picture them in that way. esp when Jason or Steph lean heavily into PDA just to fuck with him. ass grabs, cuddling, sloppy kisses, the whole nine yards. Bruce will not have a moment of peace.
#necrotic answerings#robin pile#robincest#batcest#i do think fucked up bruce is also fun#but that answer wuold be more straight forward and expected#just. he creeps on them and tries to join and probably succeeds. the end <3#it's fun but i find it more fun if he's just. grossed out by it#like he's trying so hard to break them up#and he can pretend all he wants but it's purely personal reasons and disliking that he's not in the inner circle#i'm so seirous about including steph in robin pile btw#AND DUKE#let them in on it.#i'd say maps too but i'll be honest i don't know enough about her to. care honestly i'm so sorry#and i dislike helena wayne as a robin (new-52 when i catch your ass) so i don't include her#and i love carrie but i think she should be kept to her own world and not forced into the main one#i dislike seeing “incorrect quotes” that include carrie bc like. why is she there. take her back to her world free her from these shackles.#but gods i adore robin pile#i usually include cass just bc it feels weird not to#it's the same energy as “cass isn't here bc she's in hong kong :) doing hong kong things :)”#like sure technically cass was in hong kong for a lot of the comcis but we all know why.#and cass wasn't a robin but she (and steph) aren't included in a lot of batcest and we all know why.#so i include her. i just think she deserves in on it.#let her fuck her brothers stupid <3#i love the emotional conplexities of robin pile a lot#the smut is good. but so are the feelings of all of these characters are so chained together by this mantle#they just can't escape each other.#it's good shit.

“While dick is not acting like a doting parent but an f up 20-something year old” you’re brain is so big how does it feel to be so correct
Broke: Dick has Eldest Daughter Syndrome and feel personally responsible for all his younger siblings
Woke: His younger siblings have assigned Dick Eldest Daughter Syndrome

Headcanon that Dick's siblings (-Tim, he knows everything) have no idea that he has a new job every time, and think he's still a cop.
Like Dick every time they mention his police job and he says "I'm not a cop anymore, I'm..." and he names something different every time, they think he's lying.
Jason: Isn't it ironic? One brother is a cop and the other is a crime lord.
Dick: Although I'm not a police officer anymore, I'm a gym teacher.
Jason, thinking he's being sarcastic: Yeah, and I'm not a crime lord anymore as well.
Dick: Good for you.
Damian: Richard, why aren't you in the office? I thought this was your working hours.
Dick, who went to pick up Damian from school: Now I work in the afternoon and at night, I am a bartender.
Damian, doesn't believe him because Dick is Nightwing at night: hm...
Steph, on the phone : Dick, do you think you can get me some reports from the office? There's a case here in Gotham and I think it's spread to Blüdhaven, they probably have them there in the records.
Dick: Steph, I haven't been a police officer for months, but I'll see if I can get through an ex-colleague for you. I'll call you later, I'm in the middle of a photo shoot.
Steph: ok, thank uuuu.
Steph, hanging up the call: If he didn't could help me right now he could say so, there was no need to make up that excuse.
Cass: He might be in an undercover job right now.
Steph: Maybe you're right.
Duke simply refuses to talk to him anymore because he still thinks he's a cop.
Tim: You've been in this job for two months, I think that's a record. Do you like it?
Dick, hanging upside down in the cave: Something like that? I just don't know what I want to do now and I don't want to be unemployed until I decide.
Tim: Hmm... I don't think you want to be in an office again, do you?
Dick: I'm not going back to WE, once was enough for a lifetime.
Tim: Fair enough. Can I at least ask you for a photo shoot for a season to promote the new line?
Dick: Sure, it was fun being a model for a while.

The absolute angst of Jason coming back and seeing Tim interacting with Dick and realizing just how close they are. They do stuff together, all the time, stuff Dick never did for Jason no matter how much he begged. He’s put off with it- doesn’t want anything to do with Dick. He died and Dick got a new perfect little brother he actually liked. Hell, he even comes to Sunday Dinner- something not even Alfred could convince him to do when Jason was still alive the first time.
It gets worse as the others show up- Dick showers them with affection. If they question whether they belong or not, it’ll never be because of Dick. No, Tim, Damian, Cass, and Duke will never know the Dick he knew.
But he doesn’t know that the reason Dick tries so hard is because of him. He felt he’d failed Jason- and when he died he left this gaping hole in Dick’s life. So yeah, he shows up to Damian’s Art Shows, and takes Tim skateboarding, never misses Cass’s ballet performances, and drives Duke four hours to see his favorite band. And yeah he’s at every single Sunday dinner, even if him and Bruce are at each others throats- he shows up and he sits down, and he listens to his siblings as they tell him what’s going on in their lives. Because of Jason.

Ok but this has angst potential if Tim starts out treating him like a dangerous individual, looking for potential missing persons, mysterious murders (besides the usual) with bite marks, and making counter measures. (Hmm. These blood blossoms are said to repel the dead. Would that work on the undead?). And finding more facts that support his theory like skin cold to the touch, fangs and claws, avoidance of garlic toast that one time, and a few other things. Like evidence he has a ‘special drink’ that he doesn’t let anyone else near or even catch a glimpse of (it’s ectoplasm) and seems to be trading with that woman for it. There might even be a whole secret network of vampires.
Everything is going to plan until Damian discovers his research.
Good news, with the current amount of proof Tim has accumulated at this point he has successfully convinced Damian that this guy is a vampire!
The problem? Immediately afterwards he got a lecture from his youngest brother on being specist.
Damian: Has he made any moves to harm another person?
Tim: no.
Damian: Did you find any evidence he has been killing?
Tim: …no
Damian: Did you even consider he might be finding alternative and humane ways to get the sustenance his species requires to survive?!
Tim: …………..no.
Damian: imbecile
So now Tim feels like the worst person in the world for planning to kill what is essentially the vegetarian version of a vampire.
Damian has decided that it is his duty to correct his moronic ‘brother's’ mistake and be the ambassador to this new creature on behalf of the human species.
Exhausted college student Danny gets mistaken for a vampire one night when he tiredly hissed at one of the bat family and showed fangs as he forgot he was eating some cherry candy that stained his teeth red. He also has pointed ears. Red Robin is on the case to track down the vampire in Gotham. He also found him kinda cute
Tim tapped his fingers together in front of him. He leaned back in his chair and looked at his cork board, which were covered in photos of Daniel J. Nightingale, red string connecting each piece of information together to form a puzzle that he needed to solve.
It had been months, but somehow, Danny was evading Tim's every attempt to find out where he lived and whether or not he was truly a bloodsucking creature.
With how he was consistently disappearing under Tim's surveillance every time, he was beginning to think that Danny was truly a vampire.
The door opened, and Jason waltzed in and leaned over the back of his chair, his elbow narrowly digging into Tim's head. Tim yelped as his chair suddenly leaned back at a drastically new angle before he glared at him.
"... found a new victim, stalker?" Jason teased, looking at the pictures of Danny.
"... I'm not a stalker. And he's not a 'victim', he's a possibly dangerous individual that I need to find and neutralize."
Jason raised an eyebrow, looking at a picture where Danny was passed out on a park bench, a half eaten sandwich on his stomach that was being stolen away by a pigeon.
".... dangerous?" He said, his tone slightly unbelieving.
"I have reasons to believe that he's a vampire," Tim said vaguely.
Jason hummed. "Oh. So that's why you have this picture of him where his shirt's riding up over his stomach?"
Tim turned pink. "That's— that's for research! That picture is very important to me!"
"Oh, I'm sure it's important," Jason smirked. "So while you're figuring out a way to... 'neutralize' this vampire, can you try to get me this girl's phone number?" He said, picking up and waving a picture where Danny was talking to a tall, red haired woman. "She's hot."
"No!! And get out of my room!"
#Damian makes first contact with the ‘vampires’. Just casually approaching them and letting them know he knows about their semi dead status#and officially apologized for his brother’s assassination attempts on him. Danny assumes Damian and his brother know he’s a ghost.#(Tim is screaming from behind a computer monitor.) he didn’t know Damain’s plan until it was too late.#Jason may or may not tag along to meet the pretty orange vampire. I say let’s make Jazz a Halfa in this.#Either from repeated exposure to ectoplasm or she died after Vlad used the new nano suit on her. A slow death.#This means Valerie also became a halfa. And let’s add Tucker and Sam too from when they got possessed by a staff/undergrowth.#So with Ellie (and possibly Dan) that now makes a proper vampire colony. Who all hate Vlad.#Anyways. So Danny thinks the Waynes know their secret and are cool with them. He was clearly wary at first when the child approached#(unrelated news reports have shown Timothy Drake screaming and running out of Wayne Tower in a very specific direction. Eyes glued to phone#But Damian is very thorough in his explanation that Gotham is a safe place for them and their kind and not to let ‘Bigots’ ruin it.#Tim: DAMIAN I SWEAR!#Red Hood or Jason might have been following from a distance as ‘protection’.#Also. I once saw a post where Jason’s pit rage could be sucked out so what if the Wayne’s (or at least Damian Jason Tim Bruce and Cass)#Who have been exposed the most to Lazarus water actually changed their DNA. So now their bodies naturally produce a certain amount of ecto.#They aren’t dead and they aren’t halfas but it’s still not exactly healthy. Not as noticeable for Cass and Damian who grew up with it#their bodies adjusted to it so it made their reflexes sharper and combat instincts keener.#But for Jason Bruce and Tim it explains why they are tired or feel like crap all the time.#So when they get into a relationship with one of the vampires Jason and Tim could offer them to drink their blood#and the Halfas are like ‘you sure?’ But the Waynes confirm they trust them. (Jason is ABSOLUTELY the one who offers first.)#Might even start with them just drinking from the wrist before moving up to the neck. They might reveal they CAN drink from each other#but it’s not exactly healthy (since they NEED their ecto but the bats could assume vampire ‘blood’ has a negative affect or something.)#For extra angst imagine that one of the vampires gets hurt in a fight.#Like the Halfas immediately recognize their partners in costume via scent and don’t really hide that they figured it out (or the method how#And the bats are in trouble so someone (likely Jazz) go to help out and the villain might throw her hard against a wall.#Not nearly as deadly as if she was human but Red Hood gets FURIOUS. Danny might help out Red Robin in a similar way.#Or just be there as backup for his sister. Maybe the other vampires join too. Make it a full on vampire attack/swarm on this villain.#Afterwards the Waynes with partners are frantically checking them over because even if they know they are inhuman#They were still slammed into multiple buildings and pavement with no armor and just civilian clothes. Even SUPERMAN wears padding.

Oh My God Another One
Danny: *laughing like a maniac after discovering a new power he could use to torment Vlad*
*Batfam arriving at the scene*
Danny, a bit high on chemicals: HI DAD! :D
Batman: ?!?!?
Red Hood: God not another one.
Red Robin: Black hair and blue eyes combo number four, now with meta powers.
Robin: Father your knowledge of basic intamacy practices needs to be revisited.
Batman: !?!?!?!?!?
Nightwing: Jeez B, don't you have enough already?
Stephanie: Right! It's just getting ridiculous at this point old man, pack it up!
Duke: He just blew up that construction site.
Cass: New brother.
Batman: ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!?!

Sometimes I really think we just don't give Damian and Tim the power they should have because those are the babies specifically Bruce's babies also sometimes Dick's but that is a whole other thing.
Like the younger children can get away with murder because they are so cute and adorable.
Jason and Dick even Cass need to be quietly steaming in the corner while Damian and Tim are fake crying because Jason pushed them.
They get whatever cases they want, all the super cool expensive tech they want. There is a zoo in Wayne manor because Damian pouted once.
Tim got a brand new car after he crashed his because he gave Bruce puppy dog eyes.
Dick crashed a car and he got lectured what is this shit.
I need Bruce being a pushover for his youngest children and his elder ones are just like what the fuck, "You never let me do that?" "Jason your a crime lord leave your brother's alone."
The day Damian and Tim realized the power they held the very earth shook.

DPxDC More Shit Fae!Danny Has Said While Living With Waynes
Dick, opening his arms wide and going for a hug: hey, Danny!
Danny, looking him in the eyes without blinking: did you know that centuries ago fae really liked to crawl inside human bodies and use them as nests? I heard human insides are really warm and squishy.
Dick, sweating, frozen in place: ...no?..
Danny, smiling and cheerfully jumping to hug Dick: I didn't either!
Jason, because he is feeling adventurous today: I have a question. Where do Fae come from?
Danny: Ah, so B hadn't had the Talk with you yet, what a shame. So when a woman and a man love each other very much-
Damian: Enough of your foolish jokes, I do not wish to hear the sex talk from you. To answer your question, Todd, Fae come from the dreams.
Jason, deadpan: ...really?
Danny, very awkwardly: Um. Dami. Brother to my soul. I'm so sorry.
Damian: What?
Danny: I told you we come from dreams only because you were four. That's not actually how it works. We just fuck.
Duke, narrowing his eyes at Danny suspiciously: So, for the past week and a half, I've been having this recurring dream about you eating my brain with a fork like spaghetti. I was wondering, is it, like, a you thing or a me thing?
Danny, very offended: Duke! Not every weird thing that happens in this house is my fault! That is very rude of you!
Cass, after Duke had apologized profusely and left: You.
Danny, rolling his eyes: Yeah, okay, I did do that. In my defense, his fear tastes like the perfect greasy cheeseburger, and I have to get my fair share of junk food somehow.
Cass: >:(
Danny: Okay, I'll stop. Eventually.
Bruce, in his nth attempt at gaining information from Danny: How do you know if someone is a Fae or not?
Danny: Throw a fish at them.
Bruce: ????
Danny, not even looking up from his phone: Fish are scared of the Fae. So if you throw a fish at someone and the fish gets scared, they are Fae.
Gotham Rogues a week later: We have no idea why Batman keeps throwing guppies at us, but we collectively suspect his new child is to blame.
Danny: Oh, I'm forbidden to enjoy caraoke nights.
Steph, who suggested he join: What? Why? Is it some kind of punishment for the pizza incident?
Tim: No, it's because if he starts singing, we all lose our grip on reality.
Damian: And our dignity.
Danny: They mean they start dancing whether they want it or not, and I have videos to prove it. Wanna see Jason twerking? Or I have one with Tim and Bruce waltzing through the manor.
Steph, as everyone else bemoans their fate: With great pleasure.

I LOVED THIS ((Also, Cass i love you))
Also, Jason died and suffered brain damage, he has the right to not remember (or not want to remember) some things. However, this only ends up reinforcing the family's strange reactions to conversations that mention the past. The way they slightly manipulate the conversation to lighter topics, things Jason liked, news, meeting the new siblings, etc.
Not that Jason knows that these reactions are strange, though (you would think so, but look, the family's intelligence only remains when they are in costumes). Because despite being initially confused by everyone's reaction, he thinks it makes some sense??. Of course he would think that, he never met Cass or Tim, he was never close to Dick and it is clear that Bruce has changed over the years, so he does not judge how they act (he is already confused and overwhelmed enough with the fact that his room still exists).
Meanwhile, the family is a mess (but good, at the same time??). They are in denial, but deep down they all (at least they think) know that Jason is an impostor (even if he is harmless). And because of that, they avoid getting into topics related to Batman and Robin, both for safety and fear, they don't know how the new Jason would react to the knowledge that the original Jason was Robin and was brutally murdered. The "new" Jason is not like they original, but them ended loving him anyway (Cass mostly, and Tim too).
They become protective and treat Jason so well that he doesn't know exactly how to react for the first few weeks. (He is afraid to do something and they will show him how wrong he was for believing that they would want him back).
But... Bruce acts like a father and is near him, Dick is nicer and expends more time there with they, Tim is not adopted yet, but he´s cool and little brother shaped, and Cass is a calm and amazing to hangout with. Jason can't lie, he is very happy, even if he don't know is a trap or not) Now, the problem. He came to Gotham to get revenge, fight Bruce and maybe shoot the new damn Robin, however, he can't stay that angry anymore since the accident. (The greenish-tinted outbursts of rage and violence are less frequent and quiet enough for him to keep them hidden). So how can he keep going when Bruce seems so happy to have him back? Or when Tim ends up being a surprisingly fun kid, talking about skateboarding, music or being an annoying genius (Like, Jason doesn't even know when "replacement" turned into Tim in the first place). He doesn't know if it's real, but he's been missing his family since before he dug out of the ground. He has the right to enjoy a bit of this, right? He tells himself is a trap hide with honey and smiles, but he's having the best time there and when the time comes, he can fight back, show that he was also planing on them, and go full Lazarus Rage on them (he is also in denial, is a family thing , after some weeks he must know deep down is not fake).
So he puts his plans aside (for a while, at least, he knows that Bruce's way is not working and Red Hood might apear in a close future to fix this), and just lets himself enjoy this. He is, as the time passed, more hopeful that this time things can last.
Prompt:
Brucie Wayne gets into a mild accident in public (read-got hit by a car). And Batman would just walk it off (“it’s barely a bruise”), but Brucie obviously… can’t.
So he has to suffer the ordeal of having civilians call paramedics, getting fussed over, and having-
Having his dead son get into the back of the ambulance with him.
Oh- oh no. He must have hit his head worse than he thought. He thought he was past this…

YOU ARE MARRIED??!!
-Wayne Manor, Gotham-
Cass is not having a good time. From the Arkham breakout last week all the way to losing a bet with his siblings on who is going to attend the gala with Bruce. And now this annoying lady kept asking her about her preference in men or something. And Bruce can't help her since he is being occupied by those rich assholes about investment or stuff.
Vicky: So, Miss Wayne. Is it true that you have a secret boyfriend?
Cass: No.
Vicky: Then how about that pict-
Cass: I'm already married.
Vicky blue screened as Cass finished her sentence. Cass takes the chance and slips away from her before she starts barraging her with questions. Revealing that she is married may not be the smartest thing she has done but she is very annoyed at people who keep asking her about her secret significant other. If they want to ask, at least use the proper term.
Just as Cass reaches the hallway, she is scooped up by two strong arms and is carried away to the Batcave. Cass looks to her side to see Dick and Jason both holding one of her arms each and looking very pissed. Well, Dick looks very pissed. Jason looks like he is having fun. Cass doesn't struggle and just lets her brothers carry her to the Batcave to have the talk.
They put Cass on the couch and proceed to guard the exit of the cave on the off chance that she decides to escape. Not that she would because she and her husband have been thinking of breaking the news to their respective family for awhile now.
She waited for a few hours while playing on her phone. Her main phone. Not the one she used to contact her husband since this family has a lot of competent hackers. She knows that being married is like a big deal. But she doesn't expect it to be such a big deal.
When she says everyone is here, she means everyone. From all his close family all the way to Selina (Bruce's fiancee), Roy (Jason's boyfriend), Kori (Dick's wife), Kon (Tim's boyfriend), Jon (Damian's bff) and even Harley and Ivy is here. She is also pretty sure that Clark is listening from somewhere but it's not like she is trying to keep it a secret anymore, so the more people there are the less she needs to explain.
Harper: So what are we here again? I would rather be home to polish my new gun than in this cave.
Dick: Since everyone is here, I would like to apologize for calling all of you in such short notice.
A murmur ranging from 'it's fine' all the way to 'I want to sleep' sounded in the room.
Dick: Anyway, let's get to the main topic shall we. For starters, I would like to say that none of us wishes to control who you dated nor who you choose to be your partner.
Some more murmurs sounded in the room.
Dick: HOWEVER! We would really appreciate it if you wish to marry someone, at least notify one of us since being married is a big deal.
More murmurs sounded as all of them have a rough idea on what the topic going to be.
Dick: So, the person in question, would you like to explain yourself?
A spotlight lights up on top of Cass, directing all the people's attention to her. She doesn't even know there is a spotlight installed in the cave.Cass stands up and looks at the crowd. She replies, "No."
Everyone is stunned by her reply. They expect many types of replies but no is certainly not one of them.
Tim: Fuck you mean no?
Alfred: I would prefer this conversation to remain civil and proper please master Timothy. I would also like to express my extreme displeasure at the fact that I am not notified by your marriage Mistress Cassandra.
Cass goes still at Alfred's sentence. Okay, shit is really serious. As much as she loves messing with them, she would rather not have her food burnt on the inside. (No one knows how Alfred manages to do that.)
Cass: Ehem, I'm just messing with you. It is a long story but to make it short, my husband and I met when we were in Hong Kong. We met after he got roped in one of the gangs that I was busting. After we met and a little misunderstanding, he helped me to dismantle the underground drug labs across Hong Kong.
Tim: So he is also a vigilante?
Cass: Ex-vigilante. He has a daughter now so he is taking care of her.
Dick: You get pregnant?!! How? When?
Cass: I did not get pregnant. But she is technically my daughter.
Jason: Like how Lian is with me?
Cass: No. Biological daughter.
Kon: Umm, guys. I think Bruce needs to rest a little. His heart has been beating a little too fast for even him.
Dick and and Tim are closest to Bruce realizing that Bruce's face has been impossibly pale for quite a while now. They take him to an empty couch and let him lay there and rest for a while. Everyone's reactions range from amused to straight up concerned that Bruce's career as Batman might get cut short today.
It takes a while but as soon as Bruce is fine, they continue another round of questions and answers.
Bruce: How long have you been married?
Cass: Next week is our 3rd anniversary.
Duke: Wait. Didn't you plan to go to Hong Kong for some time next week? You even ask me to cover your patrol because you say you need to go somewhere.
Cass: I don't lie. I missed last year's anniversary since there was an Arkham breakout at the time.
Duke: Dude, still not cool. You are going on a date with your husband while I need to spend hours running on top of buildings around Gotham. So not fair.
Jason: Was the present you asked me to send last year also was for your husband?
Cass: Yes.
Jason: I've been your middle man all this time and I don't even know.
Barbara: I found it! This is the registration for marriage between Cassie Cain and Daniel Fenton. You used a fake name?
Cass: Yes. You will know otherwise.
Bruce: Why do you hide it?
Cass: I'm not sure all of you are gonna like him and vice versa.
Dick: Is he a bad person? I will kill him if he treats you badly.
Cass: No. He doesn't trust all of you at first.
Steph: And why is that?
Cass: He thinks the Justice League is working with the government. So by extension, all of you are associates of government to him.
Steph: Why is he running away from the government? Is he a criminal?
Barbara: No. He doesn't have any criminal records in his name. Except for the fact that he is practically nonexistent before he is 18, there is nothing wrong with him.
Tim: Is it a forged identity then?
Cass: No. The government wiped away his records.
Dick: What? Why?
Cass: I don't know.
Damian: I expect you to at least do a background check on someone before marrying them, Cain.
Dick: Did you get married with someone you barely know? Do you understand how dangerous that is? What if he just dipped you after you got married?
Cass: *Rolls her eyes* He isn't a bad person. I make sure of that at least. I know he is some sort of meta tho-
A green portal suddenly appears out of thin air making everyone be on guard except Cass. She expects Danny to come out of the portal to greet her but what comes out baffled her.
A young girl that looks a little like Cass riding on a big wolf comes out of the portal swiftly towards Cass. Everyone is just about to shoot their weapons when the girl's word shock them.
???:Mama!
Everyone: Mama?!!

The Nappers
Dpxdc Prompt #10
Danny was really excited to spend the summer with his second cousin(?) he didn't really remember, but apparently Jack Fenton's cousin was Gotham billionaire Bruce Wayne, a serial adopter.
Jazz had discovered the connection and gave him a call to see if he'd mind Danny staying over for summer because Danny decided he was going to tell his parents at the end of summer about his ghost problem, and Jazz wanted him to have a safety net.
He didn't really have a big family at home, with his parents being largely... absent and Jazz moving to Gotham for college. It would be great to be in a house that wasn't empty again.
Now if only his newly discovered family could stay awake long enough for Danny to talk to them.
"So how's living with our cousins?" Jazz asked him through his Fenton-phone. He flopped onto his bed and groaned.
"They're all seem nice but I haven't really seen enough of them to know yet."
"Danny, you've already been there a week, shouldn't you know them at least a little bit? You usually warm up to people quickly, as long as they aren't trying to kill you."
"Man I kinda wish they were out to get me, then I'd probably see more of them than I have already."
"..."
"..."
"Okay Danny walk me through our family, and what you know so far about them."
"Well first there's Dick, he apparently lives in Bludhaven and supposedly comes back to Gotham to visit fairly often, haven't seen any of him yet though."
"Then there's Jason, I've seen him come over after dinner a couple of times, but he's seemed in a really bad mood and I'm getting weird vibes from him so I haven't talked to him much yet either."
"Cass, Steph, Tim, Damian, and Bruce are the ones that actually live here at the manor and outside of when I first arrived I haven't actually seen them awake enough to talk to me. Anytime I've caught a glimpse of them they're taking naps and I'd feel bad waking them up, Tim especially (he looks like he needs the rest)."
"What are they, nocturnal or something?
"That's what I thought too! But the Manor is even more dead during the night than the day. If I had wanted to live with a bunch of zombies I'd have spent summer in the zone, not come all the way here."
"The only people that have stayed awake long enough for me to actually get to know them are Duke and Alfred! Duke's great, but he seems to have a day job so I only see him for breakfast and dinner and any time I can catch him before he sleeps after. Alfred's amazing, but he already has so much to do around the Manor, I feel bad bothering him."
"It is only the first week you're there, and there was a huge Arkham breakout your first day so everybody around Gotham is a bit tense while the Bats are trying to recatch everyone. Could you give it another week for me? See if it'll be an option for if our parents react badly?"
"For you, Jazz, I'll give it another week, but I can't just trade one empty house for another."
"Thanks, little brother."
"Love you, Jazz, bye."
Danny hung up the phone and sighed, he new there was something off with his cousins, but he couldn't quite place it. Constantly napping, disappearing during the nights, but always on guard when they were awake.
He had a week to figure it out, but if he didn't there'd be no real lost love. He'd come up with some excuse, stay with Jazz for the summer or something. If his parents reacted badly and he didn't have this safety net, it'd be difficult sure, but Danny and Jazz would figure it out.
Danny thought it would be nice to have some other family that had his back for once, but hey, maybe he just had shitty luck when it came to blood relations.

Distracting Birb! Part 28
*throws this and runs* Masterpost
“So what did you find out?” Tim asked as he spun around. He was at the computer, of course, and looked most of the way to villainy backlit by the large screens.
(Dick loved his little brother, but villainy really wouldn’t be the most surprising outcome for Tim.)
“What makes you think we found anything?” Jason answered, just to be impertinent.
Tim rolled his eyes. “You wouldn’t have called us all down to the Cave if you didn’t have anything.”
Jason scoffed. “You underestimate how willing I am to waste your time.”
“Boys,” Cass said calmly, ending the growing argument with just that word.
“Duke still out on patrol?” Dick asked as a distraction.
Tim glanced over his shoulder and back at the screen. “On his way back. He’ll be here in fifteenish.”
Best not to wait in case Danny woke, Dick decided. They’d be sure to fill him in. “Okay. Well, Danny was not lying, he has a lot of plants.”
“Dick managed to turn on the watering system. We’re all very proud of him,” Jason said flatly.
The siblings all golf clapped, which Dick took a dramatic bow to. “Thank you, thank you. Otherwise a pretty normal apartment. Comfortable, a little nerdy, and not fussy.”
Jason nodded. “There’s a hero—not sure if someone real or fictional—that we saw a few times. Someone called Phantom.”
Obliging, Dick sent the photo of the mug from the bathroom up onto one of the screens. Tim spun back to the computer and started searching.
“There were also a lot of medication in his cabinet; vitamins and several prescriptions also. Some of them had weird labels.”
“Damn, Dick, you couldn’t have gotten a clearer photo?” Tim asked as he squinted at the new set of images.
“As much as I hate to defend Dick,” Jason said as he added photos of his own to the screen, ‘that is a clear photo. Danny was writing in the same language along with English in a bedside notebook of his.”
“Are you in need of glasses, Drake?” Damian asked as he looked from the photos to Tim with a judgmental brow raised.
Tim flicked him off, which Dick considered telling Tim off for (Damian had enough bad habits), but was actually curious about this. “No. The text looks glitched out.’
“No,” Damian said slowly and with a scowl, “it is clear. Odd, but clear.”
“Cass?” Dick asked.
She moved a step closer to the television, head tilted. There was a long, quiet moment before she lifted her hand a gave a so-so motion.
Tim looked from her, to Damian, to the screens. “…Dick?”
“So that’s the thing, it looks wrong to me too. If I look at it too long it’s like it gives me a headache. Jason can read it though.”
Jason snorted. “That’s taking it a bit far. I feel like I should be able to read it. I can get a word here or there maybe.”
“Like it whispers,” Damian said, the quiet words oddly poetic for the youngest of them.
“…yeah, like it whispers,” Jason agreed, just as softly.
“Right, okay. Freaky language that only some of us can even see, much less read, and those who can have spent a lot of time in or around the league,” Tim said. “How concerned do we need to be able this? To we need to be concerned about this? I feel like we need to be concerned about this.”
None of them had an easy answer for Tim.
All of them were grateful for the roar of Duke’s bike interrupting the conversation as he pulled into the cave.
“What are you all looking some grim about?” Duke asked. He yanked his helmet off and took a deep breath, like he hadn’t been able to breath in hours.
It was a feeling they all got. Even a good patrol was draining and Duke had been actively on follow up over what had gone down today with the Mad Hatter. Dick tossed a towel Duke’s way and went to grab a drink for the other from the food safe fridge.
“Stuff from Danny’s place. Take a look at the screen,” Jason said.
“Danny? I thought that we liked the guy,” Duke said, accepting the drink with a grateful thank you. He drained half of it his the way to the screens. “Shit, that’s a lot of meds.”
“Take a closer look,” Jason said, though not unkindly.
Duke stepped closer to the screen.
And went alarmingly still.
Dick resisted the instinctual urge to reach out and grab him. “Duke?”
Duke gave an answering hum and turned his head, just slightly, towards Dick. His eyes never left the screen. Dick wasn’t sure if Duke had really heard him. It was Jason who ended up acting, ended up listening to that instinct. He stepped between Duke and the screen, blocking their newest brother’s view. Duke sucked in a sharp, startled breath.
“What?”
“Hey, come on, have a seat,” Jason said and guided Duke backwards into one of the chairs at the table.
Tim swiftly cleared the photos from the screen.
Duke shook his head. “Sorry, man, I don’t know what… that, huh. What did those look like to you all?”
“Magenta tinted pill bottles with different levels of medication in them,” Tim replied calmly. “Dick and I can’t read what’s printed on them. Damian, Jason, and maybe Cass can a little which means it might be League writing of some sort.”
Dick leaned against the table. “What did you see, Duke?”
“Magenta tinted pill bottles with something in them. Like whatever it was my powers were weird about it. I’d have to see them in person to know anything about why, I guess, but they were… I don’t know. But whatever that stuff was I don’t think it’s League because I don’t think it’s human. I don’t think it’s earthly.”
“Well, fuck,” Dick said with a sigh.
He wasn’t sure if that was better or worse.

Note
Jason has the vibes of the older brother who will do everything for his brother "but only for a price"
I mean: Jason will help Tim and Steph in their homework because they give him $10 or Jason once saw Dami and Jon breaking into a lab that was illegally using animals as guinea pigs, the two boys bought Jason's silence with half a KitKat and Jason even helped them because the candy is edible
Jason likes to help his siblings, he just does that to mess with them
Even better: it's casino-style. If they want something from him, they gotta place their bets and hope they win.
Jason: Since you're filing taxes, can you do mine?
Bruce: Sure.
Bruce: *squints*
Bruce: Why do you have a casino under your name in Atlantic City?
[earlier]
Jason: Hey, Roy, just stopping by to check in on everyone. How's the new Poker table coming?
Roy: See for yourself.
Barbara: *deals the cards*
Steph: I'll raise you two. I need that midterm project done more than you need that stupid mission report.
Tim: You're forgetting who has more disposable income.
Tim: *slaps a stack of bills on the table*
Tim: I can do this all night. I even brought leftovers from the buffet.
Jason: *goes to the Roulette wheel*
Damian, explaining to Jon: If we place our bets on black, we can maximize our chances of borrowing the laser lockpick to free the crocodiles.
Jason: *goes to the machines*
Cass: Third time's the charm. Give me his case file.
Cass: *pulls the lever*
Duke: I'll take a stab at the Wheel of Fortune. It'd be nice to have Jason clean my room. Or buy me snacks. Or whatever it lands on.
Jason: Well, everything's looking good around here.
Dick, walking in: Hey, I heard about this place. What's this about placing bets to get favors?
Jason: What are you, a cop?
Dick: Actually, I was wondering if I could try. My bike's in the shop and I really need to borrow yours.
Jason: My bike? Alright. Follow me.
Jason: *takes him out back*
Jason: *pulls out his gun*
Jason: Get on the ground and give me all your money.
Dick: Jason, what the hell?!?
Jason: The house always wins.

Yandere platonic batfamily with a ‘definition of average reader.’
You’ve always been a low-key background character type person. Your grades were normal, every report card since you started getting report cards are all filled with B’s. At school, you’re not popular or unpopular. You have a close group of friends, and know a few people from outside of school. You play a sport, but don’t exceed at it.
The only thing that wasn’t average about you was your family.
Gotham’s sweetheart, Bruce Wayne, adopted you when you were 12 for IDK WHAT REASON HE JUST DID OKAY?????? Anyways. You were the normal amount of awkward that a 12 year old is in the face of their new family.
At your first official family dinner you sat between your older brother Dick and older sister Cass. (Yes, Alfred did strategically plan the seating so the most amicable people would be next to you.) Dick Ames you about school, your friends, your hobbies and all that jazz.
Now, you’d think a table full of vigilantes who have faced off against Gods, traveled the universe, made leaps of technology, and regularly interact with aliens and creatures of myth would be a bit bored when hearing about your math class and a new tv show you were watching. However, the fact that you’re biggest life problems was learning algebra made you seem somewhat precious in their eyes.
So they listen, and they watch, and they become more invested in your life, then, in you.
When Dick’s in town he picks you up from school and brings you to get a sweet treat while asking you about your school day. Unfortunately for the vigilante, he’s not stationed in Gotham so he’ll have to settle for face time calls. Sometimes it’s surprising how much he remembers from your past rambles. You swear he lost have a recording device in his brain, when you bring thay up to him, he laughs, ruffles your hair and glances at the tiny scar behind your ear.
Jason, on the other hand, insists on taking you out for outings, thought he always insists that you plan them. He asks you to bring him to your favourite places and you always comply, taking him to the street food stand where you go with your friends to buy snacks after school, or the manor’s own gardens where Jason will carry you on his shoulders to get a closer look at whatever caught your eyes in a tree. And sure, it’s kind of weird that he already knows the most efficient way to drive to those places before asking you, but he told you he just knew Gotham well.
The brother you see least is Tim seeing as he spends a lot of his time at the office or his own apartment and doesn’t particularly like going on outings much. However, you do text Tim the most. Updating him on random things as he does the same. It is a bit surprising when he texts you to stop picking your fingers in class, but when you ask him how he knows, he’ll claim it’s his sixth sense.
The brother you see most is Damian. Though he’s the one you talk to least. It’s kind of like he’s a shadow following you around. When you start attending Gotham Academy, he’ll sit with you every lunch time just listening to you talk. At the Manor, he’ll let you study in his room while he does art. All the conversations you have with him are mostly one sided with only slight nods to indicate he’s listening. When you ask why he doesn’t talk much he says that he isn’t use to saying nice things to siblings. You (correctly) assume that he doesn’t have friends and treat him extra kindly, sure, you haven’t been able to hangout with your friends at the academy lately but Damian’s family, so he gets priority, right?
Bruce isn’t too sure on how to raise you. When he suggested to his sons that they should tell you about them being vigilantes, all four refused. So, for once, the Batman didn’t really know what to do. Sure, the hundreds of parenting books he read placed emphasise on boundaries and not invading his kids privacy, but in a place like Gotham, Bruce had to be much more hands on. He has a tracker on ALL his kids, so what’s the harm of having one on you? He’s just a worried father.
The family’s yandere-ness boils over after Gotham Academy gets invaded by a group of thugs. Damian stays by you the whole time while the rest of your family, in costume, easily dispose of the thugs. You really didn’t get harmed at all, so when Bruce pulls you out of school you’re a bit shocked. Even if you can understand his worries, you explain to Bruce that you were okay and school was important to you. The conversation ends with an argument.
See, the thing with the bats is that they’re not normal at all. So the arguments that the family is used to ends with bloodshed or leaving the country. They don’t want you to hurt you but they also really don’t want you to try leaving.
The manor has a lot of stairs. Even thought Alfred can clean every corner of the manor perfectly, he won’t always know when there’s a mess. It’s rainy season as well, Titus likes rolling around in the puddles outside. So a wet trail on the stairs isn’t too absurd. Plus, it’s early in the morning, you’re a bit groggy. So when you tumbled down the stairs and break your leg, it’s not too crazy of a situation.

Spelling it Out
Based on a request.
Tumblr media
Pairing: Cassian x Fem!Reader
Summary: Reader is a bit oblivious to Cassian’s flirtations, so Cassian has to go the extra mile to prove he truly wants her.
Warnings: Cassian probably makes some suggestive jokes somewhere in here, but it’s all fluff! :)
4.6k words.
Tumblr media
"I brought coffee," I announce as I step into the studio's warm embrace, the door swinging shut behind me to keep the morning chill at bay. I balance the two cups in one hand, the other cradling the new set of paints Feyre had asked me to pick up this morning.
"Back here!" Feyre's voice carries from the storage room, muffled slightly by the rustling of cardboard.
I follow the sound, stepping into the small back area where she's surrounded by half-unpacked boxes. She exhales in relief as she rushes up to me, taking her coffee with eager hands.
"You're a lifesaver," she groans, lifting the steaming cup to her lips. "Thank you."
I set the paints down, glancing at the boxes. "I thought the shipments were too heavy to unload?"
Feyre hums around her coffee, eyes twinkling. "Oh, I had help—"
Before she can finish, a figure stalks through the doorway, his presence effortlessly filling the space. A box—one that Feyre and I together had struggled to move—rests in his arms like it weighs nothing.
"This should be the last one," the male says, setting it down with casual ease.
His voice is deep, rough-edged in a way that demands attention. I take in the broad cut of his shoulders, the way his wings shift behind him, arching slightly as he straightens. And then I see his face—hazel eyes rich as molten gold, a scar cutting through his dark brow, and a mouth curled into an easy, knowing smile. He's ruggedly handsome, but not in that delicate, ethereal way most High Fae are. No, he's something else entirely—something solid, real.
"Help from Cassian," Feyre finishes, amusement lacing her tone.
The name stiles me immediately, and I was a fool for not immediately putting it together the second I saw him. Cassian. Lord of Bloodshed.
He turns his gaze to me, openly assessing, and I take the opportunity to do the same. There's something about the way he looks at me, like he's mapping every detail—filing it away for later.
"I didn't know we'd have company," I say, forcing my focus back to the present. "I would've brought another coffee."
Cassian huffs a soft laugh. "Oh, no need. I've been up for hours." His voice carries the same warmth as his grin, rough yet inviting. "But that's a kind gesture."
I nod, offering a small smile in return.
"I don't believe you two have officially met," Feyre chimes in, shifting her attention between us. "Cass, this is my very talented friend. She keeps this place running."
"She gives me too much credit," I say, shaking my head.
Cassian, however, tilts his head, his expression unreadable. "I doubt that." The certainty in his tone knocks something loose in my chest.
"This is Cassian," Feyre continues, grinning. "Rhys' brother and the best guy to call for lifting heavy things."
Cassian makes a sound of protest. "Don't forget hilarious, intelligent, devastatingly handsome—I mean, the list goes on."
I huff a quiet laugh as he extends his hand.
"Well, it's nice to meet you, Cassian." I smile as I take his hand.
His fingers close around mine, warm and calloused, his grip firm but not overwhelming.
"Likewise, sweetheart." His smirk deepens, and before I can pull away, his thumb brushes ever so slightly over the back of my hand—a touch so fleeting, so deliberate, that I almost convince myself I imagined it. Then he winks, a quick, knowing thing, before finally releasing me.
I swallow, ignoring the odd flutter in my stomach. I've heard the stories from Feyre, how when she originally arrived in the night court she may as well have ended up with Cassian with his relentless flirting. He's joking, I remind myself. That's just how he is.
Cassian dusts his hands off on his leathers before flashing me an easy grin. "You must be the one keeping Feyre sane around here."
I huff a quiet laugh, setting down the paints. "I do my best. But she keeps me busy."
"She does that," he muses, glancing at Feyre. "Though I didn't realize she had such a beautiful assistant."
I blink at him, caught off guard. "Oh—I'm not really her assistant. More like a glorified errand runner."
Feyre scoffs. "That is not true."
Cassian's gaze flicks back to me, assessing. "You're an artist too, then?"
I nod while shucking off my winter coat and hanging it on the back of a chair. "That's the idea."
His grin widens. "Now I'm definitely going to start hanging around more. I could use a few painting tips."
Feyre snorts. "You paint?"
"Not yet," he says, unbothered. "But I'm a fast learner. And I've always appreciated a good work of art."
Something about the way he says it, about the way his hazel eyes flick over me like he's taking his time, makes my stomach flutter.
But before I can respond, he flashes me a smirk, turning back to Feyre. "Anyway, mission accomplished. Boxes are in, and I fully expect my reward."
"Which is?" Feyre asks dryly.
Cassian smirks. "Your eternal gratitude. And maybe a good bottle of whiskey, if Rhys is feeling generous."
Feyre rolls her eyes, but I can't help my smile.
"How about next time we need your help, you'll be the first one we call?" I suggest, noticing Feyre's playful disinterest in rewarding him for being a good friend.
Cassian grins like I've just made his day. "Oh, sweetheart. You can call me anytime."
His voice drops just enough to send an odd warmth curling through my stomach. But before I can overthink it, he turns toward the door.
Cassian turns slightly, glancing at me and Feyre. "I'll be seeing you around, hopefully." He directs at me. "See you for dinner, Feyre."
And just like that, he's gone, leaving only the scent of wind and cracking embers in his wake.
I shake my head, amused, as I turn back to Feyre—only to find her already watching me over the rim of her coffee cup.
"What?"
She only smirks, taking a slow sip. "Nothing."
I frown but brush it off, reaching for the new paints.
Cassian was just being friendly. That's all.
Right?
From that moment on, Cassian made every excuse to come to the studio. Half the time, he didn't even bother with a valid reason—just threw out a casual "I was in town" when, in reality, he always was. Velaris wasn't nearly as big as he made it out to be.
The bell above the door rang, and I didn't need to look up to know whose footsteps were approaching behind me.
"Is that supposed to be a bird?" Cassian mused, leaning over my shoulder.
I scoffed, shoving his face away. "It's a dog, and you know it."
He chuckled, easily dodging my half-hearted push and settling right back beside me. "Mmm. If you say so." His wings rustled as he peered at my work again, this time with something softer in his expression. "It's amazing, sweetheart. You're so damn talented."
The sincerity in his voice made my stomach flutter. I tilted my head back to look up at him, caught off guard by the rare note of awe in his tone.
That awe melted into something else—something warm and teasing—as he placed both hands on my shoulders and started kneading gently.
I nearly groaned on the spot. "Gods, you're perfect at that." I exhaled, practically melting under his touch.
Cassian hummed, his thumbs working expertly over the knots in my shoulders.
I sighed blissfully, rolling my shoulders into his hands. "You should've been a healer."
He chuckled, his breath fanning against my ear. "I'd rather just take care of you, sweetheart."
I smiled, tilting my head further into his touch, completely missing the way his fingers stilled for a beat before continuing their slow, deliberate strokes.
"You really are tense," he murmured, pressing into the tight muscles just beneath my neck. "Is this what happens when you spend all day hunched over, painting little dogs that look like birds?"
I smacked his arm lightly. "If you're going to insult my work, at least pretend to be subtle about it."
"Who said anything about insulting?" His thumbs dug in a little deeper, his voice dropping just enough to make my skin heat. "I love watching you work. All focused, biting your lip, completely lost in it."
I wrinkled my nose. "That makes me sound like some kind of absent-minded hermit."
Cassian grinned. "A very cute absent-minded hermit."
I rolled my eyes. "Flattery will get you nowhere, Cassian."
"That's funny because I feel like it's getting me everywhere," he mused, his hands still kneading at my shoulders. "You're practically purring."
"I am not purring," I argued, though I made no move to stop him.
"Cassian, stop distracting my employees!" Feyre's voice rang from the back room, laced with exasperation.
Cassian smirked, straightening up from where he'd been massaging my shoulders. "Employee," he corrected with a lazy grin. "And I'm motivating her."
I rolled my eyes, but the warmth of his hands still lingered on my skin, a phantom pressure I refused to dwell on.
He chuckled, stepping back, stretching in that way that made every muscle in his absurdly broad body flex just enough to be noticed. His wings flared slightly, shifting behind him like an afterthought before he shot me another smirk. "I'll let you get back to it, sweetheart." Then, with a slow tilt of his head—"Unless you'd rather take a break and let me keep working these magic hands?"
My breath caught for half a second before I forced myself to scoff. "No," I said, ignoring the small blush creeping up my neck. "But... could I ask you a favor?"
Cassian perked up instantly, arms folding over his chest. "Anything, gorgeous."
I hesitated, suddenly second-guessing myself, but forged ahead. "I need to paint an anatomical feature I've been studying. I have a few reference images, but..." I swallowed, glancing at his wings. "I was hoping I could use you as a live model?"
His brows lifted, hazel eyes gleaming with intrigue. "My wings?"
I nodded. "Your wings are far more magnificent than the sketches in my book."
The moment the words left my mouth, I realized how they sounded—how appreciative they were—and my face went hot.
Cassian, of course, took full advantage. His wings stretched slightly as if preening under the attention. "You just trying to get me shirtless, sweetheart?"
A very unhelpful image flashed in my head—of him, shirtless, all sculpted muscle and golden skin, wings fanned out behind him in the studio's soft light.
"No!" I blurted, before catching myself. "I mean—it's just for the wings."
Cassian barked a laugh, shaking his head. "Only teasing, sweetheart. I'd love to."
I exhaled in relief. "Good. Are you free tomorrow?"
He tilted his head, grinning. "I'm here whenever you want me."
Something about the way he said it made my stomach flip.
I bit my lower lip slightly, nodding. "Thank you."
"I wouldn't thank me so fast," he mused, gaze flicking to me with unmistakable mischief. "You owe me after this."
I narrowed my eyes. "Owe you what?"
Cassian made a show of looking away, tapping his chin as though deep in thought. "Haven't decided yet," he hummed, lips twitching. "But don't worry, sweetheart. I'll think of something."
I huffed, waving him off. "Go bother someone else, Cassian."
He gave a dramatic bow, smirk firmly in place. "As you wish."
And with that, he sauntered off, wings twitching ever so slightly as he disappeared into the back of the studio—leaving Feyre standing there, watching me, amusement dancing in her eyes.
I turned back to my canvas, heat still prickling my skin.
I wasn't nervous.
There was no reason to be nervous.
It was just a painting. Just a model session. Nothing different from the dozens I'd done before.
Except, of course, this time the model was Cassian. And he was currently standing in the doorway of the studio, a lazy, devastatingly handsome grin on his face as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"Told you I'd be here whenever you wanted me."
I cleared my throat, turning away quickly to gather my supplies. "Yes, well, I'd rather not have students knocking over easels trying to get a look at you, so we're setting up in the back."
He let out a low chuckle as he followed me. "What, afraid they'll get distracted?"
I rolled my eyes. "No, but I know you will."
"Fair point."
Once we stepped into the back room—where there were no prying eyes or interruptions—I pointed to the stool in the center of the space. "Sit there, facing away from me."
Cassian obeyed, but not before flashing me a smirk. "Getting bossy already?"
I ignored him, busying myself with setting up my canvas. "You can take off your shirt now."
"Damn, sweetheart—at least buy me dinner first."
I froze mid-motion, whipping my head around. "That's not—I didn't—"
Cassian just laughed, reaching over his shoulder to grab the back of his collar. In one smooth motion, he pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it onto a nearby table.
I regretted looking.
Because Mother above.
Cassian was made of solid muscle—thick, powerful shoulders, his back broad and sculpted as if the Cauldron had taken extra care in crafting every ridge, every dip, every inch of him. His wings, folded neatly against his back, only added to the sheer size of him.
I swallowed hard, thankful beyond belief that he was facing away.
"You good back there?" Cassian teased.
"I'm fine," I said, maybe a little too quickly.
I turned my attention to his wings. The pose needed to be just right—relaxed but natural, something that would emphasize their power without looking stiff or unnatural. I stepped forward, lifting my hands, then hesitated.
"Can I touch?" I asked softly, if there was one thing I learned from studying Illyrian anatomy it's that their wings were sensitive, sacred.
Cassian went still.
For a moment, there was silence. Then—so quiet I almost missed it—his breath hitched.
When he spoke again, his voice was different. Lower. "Yeah, sweetheart. Go ahead.
I exhaled slowly before pressing my fingertips to the strong, leathery membrane of his wing. Warmth radiated from him, the muscle beneath my touch twitching slightly as I carefully adjusted his positioning.
It was... exhilarating, in a way. To be granted access to something so personal.
I stepped back to assess the placement. "Are they too heavy to hold like that?"
Cassian laughed. "That's adorable."
I frowned. "What?"
"Sweetheart, these wings have carried me through battle, through storms, through the Illyrian mountains at full speed. I think I can manage to hold them still for a few hours."
I huffed. "Fine. But will you be able to sit still?"
That earned me another chuckle, this one softer. "Guess we'll find out, won't we?"
I shook my head and finally picked up my pencil, settling in front of my canvas.
"Alright," I murmured to myself, letting my nerves melt away as I focused on the work ahead. "Let's begin."
The soft scratch of pencil against canvas filled the room, steady, rhythmic—an anchor keeping me grounded as I worked.
I started with the shape of his wings, mapping out their vast expanse, the way they framed his body like an extension of his very presence. The leather stretched taut over powerful muscle, lined with delicate veins and faint, nearly imperceptible scars.
I shouldn't have been staring so intently.
I shouldn't have been so utterly captivated by every detail of him.
And yet, as I let my pencil glide over the page, shaping the curve of his shoulder blades, the slope of his spine, the corded muscles of his back... I couldn't stop.
He's just a model. Just another subject.
Then why did my fingers tremble slightly when I shaded the deep ridges of his scars? Why did my chest tighten at the thought of what he must have endured to earn them?
Cassian shifted slightly, flexing his shoulders, his wings twitching.
I snapped out of my daze, scowling. "Sit still."
He huffed a laugh. "I don't think I've ever sat this still in my entire life."
I hummed in response, refocusing. Carefully, I traced the lines of his back, the contours of muscle that spoke of centuries of battle, of training, of dedication. My gaze flicked up to his wings again, and a quiet sigh escaped me.
"What's that sound for?" he asked, the amusement clear in his voice.
I hesitated, then admitted, "They really are beautiful, you know."
Cassian stilled for a fraction of a second before letting out a soft chuckle. "Careful, sweetheart. Keep saying things like that and I might start thinking you actually like having me here."
I rolled my eyes. "You act like I don't."
Silence.
A pause, just long enough to make my stomach flutter with uncertainty.
Then, "Good. I like being here."
I pressed my lips together, pretending that warmth hadn't bloomed in my chest at his words. Pretending that I wasn't getting lost in the strong, elegant lines of his body.
I dipped my brush into the paint, moving on from the sketch to the first careful strokes of color.
Cassian's voice broke through the quiet. "You know, if you wanted a full anatomy study, you could've just asked."
I blinked, pulling back slightly. "...What?"
He turned his head just enough to smirk at me over his shoulder. "You're painting my back, too, aren't you?"
My cheeks heated. "Well—yes, but—"
"Seems unfair to only get half the view."
I huffed. "I don't need the full view, Cassian."
His smirk deepened. "That's a shame. I'd be a very cooperative model."
I nearly choked on air. "Just—shut up and sit still."
He laughed, the sound warm and rich, settling in my bones.
I shouldn't have been enjoying this so much.
I shouldn't have been admiring the golden-brown glow of his skin, the way the light cast soft shadows over the planes of his back. I shouldn't have let my eyes linger on the scars that marred him—proof of all he had endured, of everything he had survived.
And I certainly shouldn't have wished that all his teasing, all his flirtation, was anything more than just casual banter.
Cassian was like this with everyone.
Wasn't he?
I was not going to let Cassian distract me.
Even if he was currently sprawled in front of me, shirtless, his wings stretched just so, his body the most stunning thing I'd ever painted.
Even if his words curled around me like smoke, warm and teasing, making my thoughts race in ways they shouldn't.
I swallowed hard and turned my attention back to the canvas, forcing myself to focus.
I just had to finish the painting.
And ignore the way my heart had begun to beat just a little too fast.
The rhythmic strokes of my brush filled the quiet space, punctuated only by the occasional scrape of bristles against canvas and the steady sound of Cassian's breathing.
Nearly an hour has passed, and to his credit, he'd been holding still remarkably well. Mostly.
"You're awfully quiet back there, sweetheart," Cassian mused, his voice carrying just the hint of a smirk. "Not getting bored, are you?"
I huffed, dipping my brush into a deeper shade of pigment. "I'm working, Cassian."
"I am your work right now."
I rolled my eyes. "And you're a very high-maintenance subject."
Cassian chuckled. "I prefer engaging. You should be thanking me, really. Keeps things from getting dull."
I let out a soft laugh despite myself. "You're half-naked in front of me, Cassian. Things aren't exactly dull."
Silence.
A beat too long.
I froze as I realized what I'd just said.
Cassian's wings twitched. Then, "Well, well."
I groaned. "Forget I said that."
"Oh, absolutely not." He turned his head slightly, just enough for me to catch the smug curve of his lips. "You just admitted to being entertained by me. I'm savoring this moment."
"I said forget it."
"Nope. It's mine now."
I sighed, glaring at the canvas like it had personally wronged me.
Cassian chuckled again but thankfully let it drop, settling back into his position.
A few minutes passed in something almost resembling peace. I worked on layering in the first washes of color, the warm tones of his skin against the deeper hues of his wings.
Then—"So, do I get a say in how I'm portrayed?"
I lifted a brow. "Are you worried about artistic liberties?"
"A little."
I fought back a smile. "I could make you look very dramatic, if that's what you're asking. Add some storm clouds in the background. Maybe a tragic tear rolling down your face."
Cassian snorted. "As tempting as that sounds, I'd rather not be mistaken for some brooding, tortured soul."
I hummed. "That is Azriel's aesthetic."
"Exactly. We can't both have it."
"I don't know," I mused. "I think it could work. Maybe a single candle for dramatic lighting—"
"Absolutely not."
I grinned, but before I could make another remark, Cassian stretched, his wings flexing slightly before tucking back into place. The movement was so fluid, so casual—so utterly him.
I quickly went in with another light sketch, wanting to capture the way his muscles moved, the effortless strength in his frame.
"You still with me back there?" he teased, amusement lacing his voice.
"Yes, Cassian. Some of us are capable of focusing."
"Some of us just don't need to focus that hard to admire what's in front of us."
I frowned slightly, not quite catching his meaning. "What?"
He chuckled. "Nothing, sweetheart."
I shook my head, deciding not to press it.
"Alright," I finally said, leaning back to study my work. "I have the basics down. You can put your shirt back on now."
Cassian made a low, exaggerated noise of disappointment. "Damn. And here I was hoping you'd need me to pose for a few more hours."
I rolled my eyes. "Don't sound too heartbroken. I will be making you sit for another session later."
His grin was wicked. "You just can't get enough of me, can you?"
"Shut up and put your shirt on, Cassian."
He laughed, grabbing his discarded shirt—but the knowing look in his eyes told me that he'd be holding onto this moment for a long time.
And for some reason, I didn't mind one bit.
Cassian came in for many sessions after that.
I probably could've finished the painting on my own after the first few sittings, but he insisted I get all the colors right, all the details perfect. And, well... I wasn't exactly going to complain about having him shirtless in front of me for hours on end.
So, day after day, he showed up, sauntering into the studio with that insufferable smirk, stretching his wings like he owned the place. And I let him, indulged him—indulged myself—until the painting was finally finished, until there was no reason for him to sit for me anymore.
The thought left a strange hollowness in my chest, but I ignored it, focusing instead on adding the final highlights to his wings.
Cassian shifted in his seat, rolling his shoulders.
I glanced up. "Getting restless?"
He grinned. "You gonna keep me trapped here all day, sweetheart?"
I smirked. "You're free to go anytime." I glanced at the painting. "But you'd be leaving unfinished art behind, and that would just be tragic."
Even though all I had left to add was a small, near-invisible highlight, I liked the idea of keeping him there just a little longer.
Cassian chuckled, shaking his head. "Fine, fine. I'll sit still for you a little longer."
Something in the way he said it—for you—sent a ripple of warmth through me, but I shoved it aside. I exhaled, finally setting my brush down.
"Alright," I said, stretching my arms. "You're officially free."
Cassian groaned dramatically, standing and rolling his neck. "Finally." He grabbed his shirt, but instead of putting it on, he slung it over his shoulder, turning toward me with that insufferable smirk. "Is it done?"
I turned the easel slightly toward him.
It was hard to admire my own work. After staring at it for so long in every unfinished form, I wasn't sure if I loved it or if I just loved the image I had painted. But I could say I was proud of it. That was enough.
Cassian stepped closer, blinking at the still-wet canvas. His brows lifted, his mouth parted slightly. He didn't speak, didn't crack a joke, didn't smirk like he usually did.
I shifted under his gaze. "Well?"
He inhaled, slow. "Sweetheart..." He sounded almost reverent. "It's... it's beautiful."
A laugh bubbled from my lips. "You're only saying that because it's you I painted."
"No—I mean, I am beautiful, but this is... magnificent." His voice was softer than usual, quieter.
Something flickered in his eyes as he turned toward me, something warm and fond. It was enough to make my stomach flip.
I swallowed. "Thanks, Cass."
His grin returned. "Proud of yourself?"
I nodded, offering a small smile. "Yeah. I am."
His wings twitched. "Good. You should be."
A comfortable silence settled between us for a moment, the weight of his words pressing into me in a way I wasn't sure how to handle.
Then Cassian cleared his throat, stretching his arms over his head. "Now that it's finished..."
Something about the way he said it sent a prickle of anticipation down my spine.
He grinned. "...About my favor?"
I groaned. "You actually kept track of that?"
Cassian scoffed. "Sweetheart, I'd never forget a promise like that." He crossed his arms over his broad chest, eyeing me like he was scheming. "And I know exactly what I want."
A slow, lazy smirk curled his lips.
And for some reason, my stomach flipped all over again.
I raised a brow, waiting.
Cassian took a step forward. Then another.
My stomach flipped. "Okay?"
"I want you to go out with me."
I blinked. "What?"
His smirk deepened. "That's my favor. You and me. A date."
I stared at him, sure I'd misheard. "You're joking."
"Nope."
My heart did something strange, something uneven, and I let out a short, breathy laugh. "Cassian, you flirt with everyone."
"Not like this." His voice was quieter now. Steady.
I swallowed. "But—you're just messing with me. You've been messing with me this whole time."
Cassian sighed, running a hand down his face. "Gods, you're impossible." Before I could react, he stepped closer, hands coming up to cup my face, thumbs brushing my cheeks.
My breath hitched.
"Sweetheart," he murmured, tilting my chin up slightly. "Listen to me. I have not spent weeks finding every excuse under the sun to come here, sitting shirtless for hours just so you'd look at me, calling in a whole-ass favor just to take you out—just to mess with you."
I opened my mouth, but no words came out.
Cassian's thumbs brushed against my skin again, his hazel eyes locked on mine. "I like you. I want you. And I swear to the Gods, if I have to spell it out anymore, I'm going to start carving it into the damn walls."
I let out a breathless laugh, my face burning. "You're serious."
His lips curled. "Took you long enough."
I exhaled, shaking my head slightly. "I—"
"Just say yes, sweetheart," he murmured, voice teasing, but there was something else in his gaze—something warm, something steady. Something real.
I swallowed hard. Yes."
Cassian grinned. "Good choice."
His hands lingered on my face for just a second longer before he pulled back, grabbing his shirt off his shoulder and throwing it on. He shot me one last smirk as he backed toward the door.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow after your class."
And with that, he was gone, leaving me standing there—heart racing, mind spinning, trying to process the fact that Cassian had actually just asked me out.
That all this time, he hadn't been messing with me at all.
Feyre was going to laugh at me for not catching on sooner when I tell her.
