ANOTHER SONIC DREAM

You know how people are always saying how they have the most vivid dream where they fall in love with someone or they have a child and it's so realistic and when they wake up they're devastated because it wasn't actually real?

That happened to me this morning. But of course it wasn't about a person or a baby or what have you. It was about Sonic lol.

I dreamt I was rewatching episodes of Sonic Boom, and during my marathon there was an episode I hadn't seen before. In it, Sonic was really sick and groggy but he refused to get any rest. This of course made him only more tired, groggy and dazed. But that's our stubborn boy, right?

So anyway, during the battle Amy does what she always does, kick Badnick-butt. And maybe because Sonic is a little loopy, he gets overly enthusiastic about it

Then unexpectedly he just rushes Amy and full on kisses her!

And in my dream I'm screaming, I can't believe I'm watching this! The kiss is so comedically romantic and over the top, too. The background fades out, Sonic and Amy are floating and spinning, Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" is playing, Badniks are flying in slow motion in the background and exploding into fireworks.

Then the shot fades to reveal that Sonic was JUST HALLUCINATING BECAUSE HE'S SO ILL AND GOT BRAIN FOG

But it didn't matter! It was a super well animated kiss in the Sonic show and in my dream I'm like "WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS? WHY AREN'T THERE GIFS OF THIS? WHAT WHAT WHAT" and so I rush on to tumblr to scream about it with you all.

AND THEN I WAKE UP. IT WAS A DREAM. A DREAM!!!

So I just saw a post from someone saying that Sonic movies 'don't need romance' and that they hope there isn't Sonamy in Sonic 4 because they, and I quote, 'don't want to see it'

I'm not even going into how saying something shouldn't be in media because they personally don't want it is a dumb take, I'm really sick of people acting like romance is something that automatically ruins things, or like romance is something that is being shoved down people's throats when actually romance is becoming more and more rare, especially in movies.

So let me just say this, and I say this as a hardcore Shadamy shipper

I hope Sonamy becomes canon in the Movie Universe, whether they go the classic route of Amy developing a crush on Sonic or if they flip things around and Sonic falls for her first, I really hope Sonamy is End Game. It's about time that after so much teasing and hints from SEGA and the stance of keeping it one-sided, and other Sonic media creating original characters to become Sonic's love interest while simultaneously pushing Amy to the background, Sonamy and Sonamy shippers deserve this, they deserve finally a version where they are properly canon, it's about time and the movies are perfect for that.

Really hoping that Sonic 4 isn't just a sonamy fest. It was already annoying how much it was pushed in the Boom universe, I'd hate it if the same thing happened in Sonic 4.

Already seeing fans begging for the onesided romance to be reversed and wanting Sonic to be a simp... why??? The Sonic series isn't focused on romance, especially in the cinematic universe. And you want Sonic's character completely butchered just to push a ship, even if Sonic and Amy's dynamic is nothing like it is in the games??? You care about the movies being faithful to the games but suddenly when it's about sonamy it goes out the window

Idk sometimes it seems like fans care more about sonamy than Amy herself.

Please don't just be a sonamy bait movie 🤦‍♀️

Sorry I just don't like sonamy and how heavily pushed it is. Again I'm fine if the movie teases it a bit but if it's Sonic full on simping over how amazing Amy is I'm gonna roll my eyes

I pray that paramount doesn’t listen to fans that insist that they should make movie Amy like boom Amy.

It’s ok if people like boom Amy but it grinds my gears when fans say “I hope they don’t make her a stalker or obsessed with sonic so they should make her like boom Amy).

She was NEVER an obsessive stalker in the games. she has been mishandled in the past just like any other character. Even so I still wouldn’t say she a stalker.

In fact boom Amy ironically has shown more obsessed tendencies then game amy!🫠

Game Amy’s love for sonic (and her friends) is a core element of her character.

Why would anyone want to remove or down play a core factor of a character!?!

Fans keep acting like there’s nothing to her character but her love or in some fans eyes “her obsession” with sonic.

Just like almost every sonic character they have some core element that may be the main thing about them (in some cases) but it’s NOT the only thing to them.

Imagine if they removed tails admiration for sonic and their sibling like bond.

Or

if they removed knuckles or shadow rivalry with sonic or down play their roots, their background.

Sure they could still hold up without these elements but they wouldn’t be as iconic. It would just be something missing.

Note that I’m open to movie Amy and movie sonamy being different but not at the cost of the erasure of what makes Amy, Amy.😤

So anyone who reads sanders sides fanfics (or just in general) I NEED HELP FOR FINDING THIS ONE FANFIC THAT IS STUCK IN MY BRAIN AND IF I DONT READ IT IMA EXPLODE

My memory is kinda shit but ill try to recall as much as i can

the fanfic was about logan, patton, virgil, roman, and maybe thomas too?? getting kidnapped?? sucked into a game/rpg?? and they had to find some items to defeat the boss and stuff. I remember that they had weapons but idk what they were. i think one of them got their arm broken, and i think they were spilt for a bit (like 2-3 chapters if i remember correctly) i don’t remember how they escape exactly but i remember they woke up, talked about for a bit and went along with their days? i might be remembering wrong for some parts. The fanfic was on ao3 and it was multi-chapter. i think LAMP was also in the tags but idk

if anyone can find it lemme know please its been stuck in my head for days and i had no luck finding it so far.

okay so like… imma say something maybe perhaps perchance controversial and hot-takey relating to sonic. and i’ve wanted to say this for awhile but didnt wanna get canceled becus it’s something that’s sorta difficult to convey through text…

i remember seeing a year or two ago that quite a few people thought shadamy was wrong simply becus amy reminded shadow of maria in SA2. so basically implying that like if amy is reminiscent of maria, this “inherently” means that shadow thinks of her also as his sibling of sorts.

but i honestly think this way of thinking isn’t correct. if you think about this in any context rather than this fandom then my point will be simpler to understand. for example, you can think to yourself “wow my partner has similar traits to {insert person here} in my family” WITHOUT thinking of them as the same person. acknowledging a parallel in personality should not be off limits when comparing someone you share romantic love with and someone you share platonic love with in my opinion, unless you’re the one constantly choosing to say/act upon that fact in an intentionally weird way.

we also don’t really know *exactly* what shadow was thinking in this exact moment, other than the fact that amy’s kind words changed his perspective and motives, which was the main point of that cutscene overall. it could very well be possible that shadow is experiencing some form of underdeveloped love for amy in that moment, but even he doesn’t know what kinda of love that may be becus he’s spent his whole life just traumatized and not exposed to relationship and friendship status quo of the outside world.

and may i remind you that shadamy is not the only ship to do this… so that argument really doesn’t even work?!? sonadow, probably the most popular ship ever in sonic, does this too. that official japanese art/story with shadow looking at the blue shoes references the parallels between sonic and maria i believe, along with MANY fan works i see regularly.

i’m glad the shift in shadamy has become apparent after TMOSTH and the twitter takeovers. i honestly change my opinion quite frequently between seeing this ship as more platonic or more romantic, but i wanted to still defend it nonetheless becus i find it quite ridiculous how much backlash it got for the stupidest things.

and in case this wasn’t clear- I DONT SUPPORT INCEST AND THIS POST IS NOT TRYING TO EXCUSE INCEST IN ANY WAY. i really just think that characters can be more complex than some people initially interpret them and so to quickly shame others based on these conclusions feels very odd to me.

AND I JUST GOT TO SEE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE NORTH AMERICA TOUR (more specifically Montreal! (yes i flew to an entirely different country to see it)) and i am incredibly attached to enjolras and grantaire so here are just things i saw that made my nails dig into my thighs <3 (not just enjoltaire)

this is 90% incoherent rambling (SPOILERS)

- Grantaire had long hair and a long coat i think that deserves its own point

- During Red and Black, Grantaire did the old “Don Juan” with the bottle right in Enjolras’ face (he was not impressed)

- In this same song, Enjolras got really close to R’s face during “don’t let the wine go to your brain”

- Again, in Red and Black, when they tossed Grantaire’s bottle to Enj, teasing him, Grantaire grabbed the bottle in a… way… when he was giving it back to him

- Same song 😭 Grantaire was bouncing on a guy’s lap during the first few verses

- In DYHTPS, Grantaire pulled Gavroche aside away from the students crowding Enjolras (this broke my heart, he clearly loves him and doesn’t want him to be in a war)

- “Glad to do a friend a favor” with a very suggestive hand gesture

- In the “dogs will bark flees will bite”, Grantaire pointed a finger at Enjolras, the former getting real close putting his weapon between them. They got REALLY close

- Gavroche pulled the middle finger at Javert lmao

-Eponine fucking died (i knew that already, seen every bootleg and version available, still hit hard)

- During Eponine’s death Gavroche ran onto the stage, closely followed by Grantaire being held onto by Enjolras

- Gavroche tried approaching Eponine (that’s his sister bro :()) but was stopped and held onto by Grantaire. When she died however, Grantaire quickly bent to hug Gavroche, man the grief was so clear with them both.

- After she died, everyone cleared to their positions but Enjolras and Grantaire, seemingly for Enjolras to try and comfort him, but decided against it quickly and pushed past him. Grantaire placed his hand on his chest in mock offense 😭

- When the attack was about to start, Grantaire mocked and toyed with tied up Javert. When Enjolras called for hold, Grantaire threw his arms around Javert with a “yep!” and cue the battle starting immediately when that happened

- During Grantaire’s verse during Drink With Me, it’s back to Enjolras and Grantaire being center stage. Enjolras approached him, held onto his arm and with the same hand moved up to brush R’s hair, which lead to him breaking off the contact and rushing to the other corner of the stage.

-He was followed by Gavroche, who hugged him from behind and then they both fell asleep next to each other :((

- Gavroche fucking died (i knew he did still heartbreaking) and was caught by Enj, who handed him to Grantaire

- During the Gavroche solo, Grantaire stood center stage looking to the crowd, not even flinching when the gun sounded, only turning around when Gavroche was already at the top of the barricade

- He tried shaking him awake :(( then set him down and stared at him :((

- That was until Marius fell, Enjolras rushing to check on him, making Grantaire rush to his side

- R grabbed onto Enj and they both held the back of each other’s necks,, from my angle it looked like their foreheads touched but idk if they would do that but MANNN

-Enjolras fucking died first (no wtf :(( )

- Grantaire fucking died last (BRO.)

- Everyone fucking died bro

- Except Marius and JVJ of course

- Mr Thenardier, instead of singing “This one’s a queer but what can you do”, sang “This one’s a queer, I’ll try it to!” and dipped a guy in the wedding 😭

- The “to love another person is to see the face of god” line always makes me emotional just :((

that’s it haha hopefully y’all enjoy the ramblings, ty for reading this far, i seriously recommend going to watch it if you can it’s truly the most amazing thing i’ve ever seen man 😭 may be biased but i’m serious
