wait wait wait guys have you ever thought about how the Mighty Nein are everything they shouldnât be upon first glance
no no guys guys listen to me theyâre all the antithesis of what theyâre meant to be and thatâs why theyâre such amazing and heartfelt characters
like, Caleb is a wizard whoâs afraid of his own fire magic. his own power causes him to falter in battle. his strongest spells are his most dangerous to himself. wizards are supposed to be prideful of their magic, but Calebâs is the reason he hates himself
Beau is a monk who never wanted to be. her job is one that people normally associate with being calm and collected and Beau was a wild rebellious kid who got dragged into this line of work against her will. she never wanted to be this!! but now she is and sheâs gotta deal with it!!
Fjord is a warlock who never wanted power from his pact, which is why youâd think a warlock would make their pact at all. but no. Fjord made his pact because he wanted to live, not because he wanted power. he was a scared orphan who hated his tusks, not a buff, muscled, angry half-orc like people assumed
Nott is NOT, thatâs the whole crux of her narrative! she wasnât pretty, like a halfling girl was supposed to be. she wasnât a goblin, she was just transformed into one. and not only that, but despite being a three-foot-tall alcoholic kleptomaniac, sheâs the mom of the group!
Jester is a Cleric whose god isnât actually a god and who would much rather bash bad guys over the head with her lollipop than have to stop and heal her friends!! sheâs a bubbly, optimistic ray-of-sunshine, but you know when she says sheâs gonna change the world with friendship she means it as a threat
Mollymauk is an amnesiac, but he doesnât want to remember who he was. if you ask him, that wasnât him! he might be a flirtatious hedonistic carnie, but heâs also single-mindedly devoted to making the world a better and more loved place than it was when he found it. heâs a liar, but he means well. heâs an arrogant fool, yes, but heâs right! he did it! he left it better!
Caduceus seems like heâd be creepy and grim from growing up in a graveyard, but heâs actually the most chill out of the entire Nein by far. heâs calm, heâs sweet, and heâs comforting, more than anything else. youâd think heâd be amazed by seeing the outside world for the first time, but he spends the whole time knowing that one day heâll return home, that he wasnât supposed to be the one to leave
Yasha is a barbarian with skeletal wings and a dramatic, monochromatic look, but sheâs a complete sweetheart. sheâs Mollyâs best friend, she was a carnival bouncer, sheâs a lesbian disaster who collects pressed flowers in a book out of love for the wife she lost. those black wings were actually hiding soft white feathers
Essek was born straight into the den of politics, he was a spymaster, he literally started a war for his own gain, and yet. heâs sounds irredeemable on paper, but. heâs not!! sure, the Nein kind of have to drag his alignment kicking and screaming into neutral, but they manage it. Essek learns and grows and he overcomes his nature. he becomes good, against all odds
guys guys guys donât you see it!! look at them!!theyâre such compelling characters!! theyâre everything theyâre not supposed to be!! dude yâall how didnât I realize this earlier!! they subvert their narratives in the most interesting ways ever and I justhshsbhshshsjnsmshsnhsfn!!

Grabbed the latest issue of Sho-Comi because Mahou Shoujo Dandelion has been making waves on Twitter in advance of its release and I had to see how it actually turned out.
Mizuho Kaeru seemed a tad overwhelmed on socials about just how much anticipation the series was receiving based on concept and characters alone, but Mizuho should honestly be proud of how well they've lined up trending tropes in Dandelion.
You've got the nasty-cute monster dude (Shade) who would do anything for his bright ray of sunshine (Tanpopo). Throw in the nostalgic magical girl element and it's not hard to see why both Japanese and English-speaking fans have been anticipating this first chapter. So, does it live up to the hype?
I'd veture that yes, Dandelion is worthy of the excitement that has been building around it. It was good as a lunchtime read on my phone and while I'll probably have to re-read it to get everything I want from it, my initial impression is a positive one.
I'm not a fan of grumpy/sunshine type stuff but Tanpopo's strengths as a character really helped me enjoy what was on offer here. You can see why the Special Magic Warrior Management Organisation was interested in her, she's got a good heart and she's got gumption, even if Shade is the one who continually helps break her fall.
The complication here is of course that Shade, while obliging of Tanpopo in his own way, is also monstrous. He plays into this when he wants to, menacing Tanpopo herself at one point because he's A VILLAIN OK?? (Sure buddy.) With Tanpopo becoming Dandelion, how will their dynamic change? Can this uneasy relationship develop further when our leads are technically on opposite sides of a battle with life-altering stakes, despite a potential unspoken desire to present a united front?
What I like about Mizuho's approach in this first chapter is that the world these characters live in is already tinted with grey and what should be a black & white / good vs. evil situation is far more complex than this right out of the gate. The "monster of the week" that shows up here is grotesque and violent, hardly the sanitised version you'd see in childhood cartoons. However, the magic warrior org is quite willing to lop heads (literally) when they have to, showing that they are not all sparkles and rainbows either. Tanpopo and Shade are very much walking into unknown territory here and I'm interested to see how Mizuho handles things in chapter two.
I just have to add that I absolutely loved this moment where Dandelion, newly transformed, performs her first magical action -- restoring the umbrella she'd used defensively as Tanpopo. So much about her character expressed in this simple yet powerful action. LOVED ITTTTTT.
If the hype remains then I can see this one turning out to be a solid little series. There's definite potential here in both the characters and scenario. I highly recommend grabbing the magazine issue and supporting any other official releases that become available if you can. Mizuho is also happy for people to produce fan art, so maybe draw pic or share a tweet/post/etc. about it if you don't have the money to invest and help keep that hype train moving this way instead!

These are my OT5 brainstorm pages. Elaborations on how I got to these below! I reference concept pages so if you see any pictures you don't recognize that's why. <3
First up is Cat Noir who I think is already perfect lmao. For my version though I wanted to lean closer to his PV design because I love it, like his larger triangle nose (you can't really see it at the angle in my drawing but it's there I swear!), the bigger bell, the more elaborate belt, etc.... so basically everything ... just in my style instead.
With my designs I think that whenever someone transforms into their miraculous persona it's based on what they think a hero looks like or what they think is cool. I think Adrien reads a lot of comic books and is a fan of characters like Batman (relatable for him LOL), Catwoman, and Nightwing, so his suit reflects that kind of vibe.
Extra: I decided that Ladybug and Cat Noir's masks go all the way up their foreheads because it looks nicer in my 2D style with their bangs haha.
Next up is the one and only Ladybug! Unpopular opinion but I actually like the all red suit! My hypothetical series would be a webcomic, and I feel like in action scenes the red differentiates her from Cat Noir esp at a distance, and more red style keeps their color ratios even.
I like the ladybug designs with a bunch of black sections they're very cute! Just not for my au. (I think it's just me but I find drawing the ladybug designs with inverted red dots to feel sacrilegious in a way,,, just my neurodivergent brain lol)
And I am a long ribbons truther, I love them and they can be very expressive. Also I knew I wanted Marinette to have a more vertical circular eye shape because her shape vibe is definitely a circle (Adrien's is triangle) and it reminded me of the eyes for the main girl in princess jellyfish (I've never seen it, love the style tho)
Her hair is a more bright blue to contrast her hair against her suit, and make her look more cartoonish. I imagine her idea of a superhero comes from kids shows and some magical girl anime. So her hair has a plastic shiny texture to it because when she thinks 'superhero' she thinks of kids toys. Also I just like color! The blue kinda gives comic spiderman vibes imo (the version with the light blue instead of the navy)
Queen Bee definitely changed the most throughout the design process. I really like her in-show design so I just tweaked it to be more my vibe. Adding a crown because she's a Queen.
Something that I've noticed is that Alya and Chloe actually share a lot of traits (There's even some old concept notes where I believe Alya and Chloe either switch names or roles at some point?? The miraculous concept info rabbit hole is real y'all) and I think this comes through in their final designs.
Like they both share a middle part, which bothers me for some reason, so I decided to give Chloe a little Ariana Grande side part into a ponytail.
I wanted each character to have a cool little piece on their costume, so I tried these little hip things to make her more commanding and girlboss, but currently her weapon is similar to ladybug's (but more like one of those hair ties w the little disco balls on them) and it would sit on her hip and would clash w her hip thingies, so I just decided to make her weapon the hip things instead, combining the two.
Something else that bothered me a lot was that Rena was the only one with white on her costume. Everyone has black but she's the only one with white... my brain says that this cannot be. So I tried to give Bee some fun white fuzzy bits but the texture just was too different...
And then I had the mega-brain idea to make her hair white to tie in the white from Rena. Her and Cat Noir both having blonde hair irked me as well LOL so this hit two birds with one stone. I wanted her hair to be sharper and more aggressively drill shaped because of her abrasive personality haha.
After that, is Carapace. I had an idea for him from the start because I felt like his in-show design just doesn't match his personality... I couldn't make his outfit all loose because I wanted to stick generally to the miraculous suit formula, but I feel like 'skin tight suit' just isn't his vibe. So he has a kind of hammer pants situation.
I think they capture Carapace's b-boy ninja turtle vibe while still looking like a miraculous outfit. Though I decided later that I wanted the pants to be a lighter color for contrast and the visor to be white (to tie in that Rena Rouge white).
Lastly is Miss Rena! Something that bothered me (back on the similarities to Chloe) was that they both have ponytails (yes I know I'm crazy). Even though they have very different textures I just wanted each of them to be distinct from each other. So I put her hair down and just dramatized her regular hairstyle.
Also her and Queen Bee both have black gloves to their upper arms, which, you guessed it, bothered me. So I shortened Rena's to just reach her elbow.
I wanted her to look like a magic-man, her illusion powers evoke a showmanship energy to me. I imagine her and Cat Noir are quite the dramatic theater kid-esque duo.
So, for drama I tried some flowy arm bits, which I think ended up just looking a little strange, so I'll pocket that idea for something else. Then, I tried to add her coattail from the show, but it ended up looking a little frumpy, not the drama I wanted.
I ended up making her coat more triangular in the front, to give off the vibe of a magician's vest, and changed it to solider red/orange double coattails, which I think makes her more magic-man-ish. And I think the white ends made it too busy.
So those are my hero designs! I'm still working out Hawkmoth and Mayura, esp Hawkmoth because I am not good at drawing masculine older men...
If y'all want LESS of the artistic process let a girl know lol! I know some ppl like it but this is very long,,, all my drawings will not have text this long! thx for reading if you did tho xx

Fansub Release + Translation Notes on Utena Ep 16
Iâve been dreading this episode since the beginning of this project. Most translations of the cowbell episode have two major problems that I knew were going to be really hard to overcome in my translation.
How on earth does Nanami not know that a COWbell is something that a COW wears?
Why does Nanami keep saying moo in regular conversation?
When I actually got into the translation though, it was so much more difficult than I had even anticipated! Not only were there two very large episode-spanning translation problems to solve, but there were also TONS of difficult individual lines. And on top of it all, a song to translate!
I was not happy at all with my first draft. I sent it to @dontbe-lasanya and went to bed. When I woke up and saw their edit, it was like magic. They had transformed my extremely rough script into a work of art! Iâm so so happy with this episode now, and the majority of the credit for that has to go to Anya.
So anyway, how did we fix those two big problems?
How on earth does Nanami not know that a COWbell is something that a COW wears?
Obviously the Japanese word for cow is not âcowâ. Itâs ç (ushi). However, the Japanese word for cowbell is ăŤăŚă㍠(kauberu) â itâs a loanword; itâs just âcowbellâ turned into katakana. Thereâs no obvious connection between the words for âcowbellâ and âcowâ in Japanese, unlike English. Also, ăŤăŚă㍠is not a very familiar word for most Japanese kids and teens (the target audience of Utena) and sounds foreign and therefore fancy (given the right context). On the other hand âcowbellâ is a very familiar word in English, or even if it isnât, âcowâ and âbellâ are. It also doesnât sound fancy or foreign.
In Japanese, Nanami falls into some cringeworthy teenage social pitfalls in this episode. 1. The classic japanese kid thing of assuming katakana loanwords are cool or fancy. 2. The universal kid thing of pretending to know a word she doesnât know to seem smart/cool. These things are like, a HUGE part of the conceit of the episode. IMO, itâs crucially important to get these ideas across in the translation. To fail to do so (i.e. by translating ăŤăŚă㍠as âcowbellâ) would be akin to cutting out the first 8 minutes of the episode.
Translators will often translate katakana loanwords directly back into the original word, but that clearly doesnât work here. Anya decided to go with almglocken as the translation for ăŤăŚă㍠because Miki is the first person to give the cowbell its name, and almglocken doubles as the orchestral term for a musical cowbell (plus the yodelling in the cutaway scenes really sells the German choice, which we only discovered after we had committed to it!). I love how that scene feels where Miki names the bell - it really feels like he and Juri call it an âalmglockenâ and Nanami just goes along with it, not wanting to admit that she doesnât know what almglocken means. She totally reads as a stupid kid who wants to be a part of European high fashion without actually knowing anything, which is exactly how she reads in the original Japanese script!
Why does Nanami keep saying moo in regular conversation?
First things first â the sound a cow makes in Japanese is not âmooâ. Itâs ă˘ăź (mĹ/mou) which is prounounced almost exactly like the English word âmoreâ in non-rhotic accents like my Australian accent. In an American accent it probably sounds like âmallâ without the ending L sound.
So, cows say âmouâ. But ăă (mou) is also a dictionary word in Japanese. It can mean âalreadyâ as in âI already did thatâ, but it can also be used as an interjection (similar, but not exactly the same, to how âalreadyâ can also be used as an interjection as in âenough already!â). ăă (mou) carries other nuances with it as well â there is a cultural image that teenage mean-girl types (like gyaru) tend to use it a lot. I like translating it as âughâ, which I did several times in this episode.
The writers are getting a lot out of the cow metaphor in this episode. Thereâs the whole thing with Touga selling Nanami away as a metaphor for his manipulation of her (and women in general) in order for him to gain patriarchal power (he even eats her meat!!). But thereâs also this equating of cow mooing with the word ăă which is associated with young girls. Whenever Nanami moos this episode, even right up until the end when she physically transforms into a cow, you could translate it as âughâ if you didnât want to preserve the cow sound meaning. Every moo fits into her sentences as a bitchy interjection.
This is a hard thing to get across in translation, so I used a combined approach. Sometimes I directly translated ăă as âughâ, which morphed into âmm-ughâ and then âmuuooâ. Other times I compensated by using words with âoooâ sounds in them and drawing out the sound (like âmoOOoveâ.
Dona, dona, dona, donaaaa
As I mentioned in my post yesterday, while translating the song, I made particular pains to match the meter of the Japanese lyrics with the English lyrics.
ăăŻăăăă˛ăăăăăăăĄă°ăă¸ă¤ăĽăăżăĄ
One day on a clear lazy afternoon, on the road to the marketplace
A literal translation of the line would be something like this
One clear afternoon, on the road to the market
But Iâm sure you can see how this doesnât have nearly enough syllables, much less stress on the correct syllables. Because Japanese has less consecutive consonants, it tends to have words with more syllables, but shorter syllables than English. They donât have words like âcrampâ where 4 consonant sounds exist in one syllable â usually thereâs only 1 consonant per syllable. This means that if weâre matching beat-for-beat, English can fit more words in per bar, which means when translating literally, we end up with lyrics that are too short! Thatâs why Iâve added âOne day on aâ and âlazyâ and extended âmarketâ to âmarketplaceâ. This came up constantly during the translation of the song, where I was consistently needing to create words that didnât exist in the original to keep the meter similar.
A few little notes to finish
This scene where the girls in PE class are chanting ăăĄă¤ăďź(faito) while they run is hilarious to me because both other translations I have access to translated it as âFight! Fight! Fight! Fight!â which is just⌠not what theyâre saying. Obviously in English chanting âfight!â makes it sound like youâre encouraging two people to physically fight. In Japanese, ăăĄă¤ă is a loanword and does come from the English word âfightâ, but it only means âfightâ in the sense of like, metaphorically fighting: overcoming mental barriers, pushing through, doing your best. Theyâre just chanting to get their motivation up. I translated it as âMove those feet! Move those feet!â so that when Nanami brings up the rear I could switch it to âMoOOove those feet!â
Translating it as âFight! Fight!â is just completely unacceptable no matter what your translation goals are tbh. If you care about âpreserving aspects of Japanese cultureâ in the translation, you should translate it as âFaito! Faito!â or âFighto! Fighto!â.
I want to note that Iâm so happy with how the characters talk about fashion. They really sound like they know what theyâre talking about (thanks to Anya). So much of the time translations sound like they were written by someone who doesnât have any knowledge about the field the characters are talking about, which makes the dialogue sound super forced even when the characters ARE supposed to know what theyâre talking about. To give another example, Anya flagged this before with how Touga talks about Mikiâs piano playing. The standards are so low for this kind of thing that my limited knowledge of music helped me write a translation that sounded knowledgeable enough to be worth commenting on!
Also, Iâm REALLY glad we went with âdykeâ as the translation for çˇĺĽł (otoko-onna) a few episodes ago. Nanami uses that word again this episode and Utenaâs reaction really works with the slur.
Thank you so much again to @dontbe-lasanya. This episode wouldnât have been possible without you!

Epic Telemachus HC's because i am bored and i cant post any drawings of him (yet) because i havent finished his design
|⢠He draws alot to pass his time. Before the suitors came, he used to draw designs for Penelope to weave. Which resulted into his scarf, the last thing she weaved for him before she had to make the shroud bluff
|⢠Telemachus, every year, makes a hyper realistic drawing of him, his mother, and his father while waiting. Why? Because one, he needs something to pass the time. Two, he wants to get better. But on the other hand, its never finished. Because he doesnt know how his father looks.
|⢠he's actually a master of sarcasm⢠and Vicious mockery⢠but locked in during little wolf because he knows he cant bitch tongue his way out of this one
|⢠he has long hair and ties it up. Fight me.
|⢠growing up with drunk suitors around, he does not know romantic love. But he is oh so very aware of lust. To him, because of lack of understanding and lack of anyone teaching him about it, he sees lust and love as two very similar things. And listening into his parents in WYFILWMA he is contemplimenting wether or not he should barge in and stop anything from happening
|⢠self esteem issues from the suitor's. Oh come on i cant be the only one that sees this???
|⢠you've seen Trans!Telemachus headcannons. Now i propose, genderfluid!Telemachus. Gender is a social construct. Fuck you
|⢠remember the scarf i mentioned in the first point? Telemachus wears that thing EVERYWHERE. and he refuses to take it off. A reminder of who he is and who he thrives to keep safe
|⢠he has His mother's eye shape but with Odysseus's sharpness. Does that make sense? No? Yeah ill post a drawing of their eyes later idk
|⢠he needs friends everyone. His only friend all his life is a fucking dog (no hate to Argos he's amazing)
|⢠inherted some of Penelope's naiad-like features. Really good swimmer. Fight me. (How many Times had i said fight me in this post?)
|⢠his Naivete is his weapon. He uses how he seems like an innocent boy as an advantage for a long time. But it kinda shattered during little wolf.
|⢠Peisisarus was his gay awakening. And Nausicaa was his Bi awakening. Guess what he decided on? Date both. And both decided hell to the yeah
|⢠when training with Athena, she realized how much and how little he resembled his father.
|⢠Athena suggested he used a spear, because he seems to be better at is (she meant a sword is too heavy for him!)
|⢠remember his Athena cosplay during Odysseus? Yeah. Thats a magical girl transformation and his "diplomatic mission" was him meeting Peisisarus and Nausicaa and also his magical girl training arc/hj
|⢠Telemachus never needed "the talk". Listening to whatever drunken blabbers the suitors had gave him understanding. From that he hated sex and shit. But he got the talk anyways
|⢠During his time with the suitors, he was almost taken advantage of. But he was lucky enough to escape.
|⢠also in that time period, watching those men get drunk gives him a hatred to any type of alcohol. He refuses to take more than half a cup of wine.
|⢠Telemachus tries, he really does. But nightmares always comes and he just feels the need to guard his mother's Doors again. And when he Heard noises from inside, he goes batshit and feels anxiety, sadness, and dissapointment in himself. Until Odysseus walks out hearing him and gives him hugs

CW: IncestâŚsort of?
Iâve got this fucking fic idea stuck in my brain. I canât get it out of my head but I have too much shit going on too so I canât write it. So now Iâll just ramble about it instead.
The first time Tav meets Raphael, he sort of narrows his eyes at her and stumbles a bit in his prepared speech without her knowing why. Tav is a red-skinned tiefling with orange eyes, and she looks the spitting image of Raphael. The hair, the nose, the horns, sheâs even a damn bard.
Her companions donât get it either before he does his magical girl transformation into a cambion and then even they are like âhmmmmâ. Tav doesnât see it at first and stubbornly brushes it off as pure tiefling racism.
Meanwhile, somewhere in Avernus, Raphael is having a full on existential crisis. Could it be? He had always been so careful. He supposes it could be possibleâŚThe thought that he might be a father freaks him tf out. Rattles his shit completely, but also intrigues him. It quickly becomes a minor obsession for him to know. He does his research and finds out who Tavâs mother was and that it technically could be possible, since she was a former client of his.
He starts treating Tav differently. He even helps her a little bit. Itâs not reeeally out of fatherly love, but more out of Raphaelâs love for everything he can mirror himself in, which now definitely includes her. He spoils the shit out of her. One minor obsession merge with the main obsession that his potential daughter might bring him the Crown of Karsus.
Tav doesnât complain and her companions encourage her to play it up because Raphâs help is super useful, which she then does. The problem is that sheâs not sure that Raphael is not her dad either.
Things get super weird and at some point shit gets too real. Raphael seems so sure that all his hard work on his âdaughterâ means that he will get the Crown of Karsus for sure. Tav has played it up so much that itâs almost awkward at this point to tell him no when it comes to signing his contract. She feels really pressured, and she and her companions decide that the game is up. They canât give the Crown to Raph, but they still need the Orphic Hammer.
They break into the House of Hope. When they get to the boudoir, they meet Haarlep, which is now even weirder considering the whole paternity situation. Killing Haarlep is not really an option since they are naively hoping they can damage control pissing off Raphael since Tav is now closer to him.
Haarlep takes one look at her and his brow furrows as he looks her up and down. They have heard Raphael rambling about her and the whole situation, of course, but they are still surprised at the resemblance.
Despite the discouragement of her very disturbed companions, she decides that she just need to get it over with and fuck them, and that technically itâs not weird because itâs not her maybe-father, just a copy of him.
Haarlep almost kisses her but gets a good whiff of her breath before they do so and damn near falls off the bed. They open her mouth and take a deeper whiff.
Now itâs Haarlepâs turn for an existential crisis, because Tav isnât Raphaelâs kid. Sheâs Haarlepâs kid. Her breath has a subtle scent of diluted succubus spittle, which is how Haarlep knows. This is all possible because Haarlep is transfigured to look like Raphael (meaning: has completely changed shape) and hasnât just taken his form or is glamoured to look like him.
Haarlepâs dick goes soft for the first time in millennia, and they canât do it. Even they have their limits. Tav and her companions are so fucking out of it that they just leave without the Hammer.
Raphaelâs reaction to the whole thing is essentially: âOhâŚđŽ OhâŚđđŤŚâ. The fatherly feelings are gone just like that. That shit gets his dick rock hard. Itâs basically a copy of him but without magic or anything. He might even genuinely fall for her a little bit for the sole reason that he sees himself in her.
Tav, understandably, is not cool with any of it, but Raphael is nothing if not persistent. Weird obsessive love drama ensues and Haarlep (and literally everyone else) feels very weird about the whole thing.
#daddy issues are a reoccurring theme for me apparently#raphael bg3#raphael the cambion#bg3 raphael#haarlep#cw: incest

My first fanfic! I'm proud of it even if it's a little rushed. I barely managed to get it out within the day. Tomorrow's prompt might just be a drawing.
Day 1:
Hug/Cabin 7/Shapeshifter
Fic below:
TW: very brief depiction of a panic attack, description of nightmare.
It had been a month since Vee's mom and sister came back from the boiling isles.
The stress Vee felt the few days it took for the return was immeasurable. A worry for her family took root in the back of her mind, it made sleep nearly impossible, and gave her nightmares.
Waiting for months, no contact, no words, no way of knowing if they are alive. No magic. She'd be found out, spreding herself too thin with Camila and Luz's responsibilities, inevitably slipping up. People from the town gazing upon her demonic form. The eyes of Belos's monsterous form looming behind everyone. her family, Luz's friends all dead they couldn't stop him THEY COULDN'T COME HOME THEY WERE DEAD HE KILLED THE â
In the present, Vee shook her head to dispel the images her imagination made. She remembers the dreams vividly, still occasionally seeing them in her sleep.
The week following their return, she found the pamphet Masha handed her. Blushing (But NOT because she remembers making a fool of herself in front of them), she decided it was time to take up their offer.Â
And it turned out AMAZING, Masha's gradoise flair really fitting the tour guide gig. It was just like back at Cabin seven when They waxed poeticly about the many pagen dieties and what they did.Â
Vee kept up with Masha's narration, interjecting questions when she thought of them, keeping the conversation flowing. Vee told Masha about herself, and Masha shared stories about their friends. An aching Vee didnât realize she had in her heart began to fade talking to her friend after so long, but only slightly.
Masha didn't know that she knew them. For all they knew, they were talking to a complete stranger. The person they talked to couldn't possibly be the shy, anxious girl they shared a cabin with. She couldn't be the friend they helped bring out of her shell, who looked at all things mundane with innocent wonder. She wasn't Luz Noceda.
The insecurity persisted, became even bigger after Masha invited Vee to hang out with their friends. Diego, the tall, relaxed boy who let his hair fall onto his face and probably had a million zits on his forhead. Samantha; or rather Sam, who had a love for video games and anime, and rambled about them to the captivated audience of her friends.Â
Neither of them knew her as Vee either. It was awkward, but managable, getting to know them a second time. She noticed that they were each more comfortable in conversation than when they were back at camp. They were all less reluctant to share the information about themselves that took them weeks to share at camp. Vee supposed she was also more confident, staying in a cabin with each other must have been to thank for that.
She didn't know how long she could keep lying to them, for her own sanity.
"Say," Masha began, "What about those kids you were hanging out with? They're your other friends, right?"Â
Vee, lying belly down looked up from the Cosmic frontier book she was reading. "Huh? She got so invested in the plot it took her brain a while to process Masha's question.Â
"Y'know, at the historical society, right before Halloween," Masha clarified. "You guys asked me about that rebus remember? That one kid was going on like, 'Grahh chop off my ear' or something," Masha giggled.Â
Oh. Luz's friends. Vee knew the witches also considered her part of the group, but it was easier thinking of them as her sister's friend group.
Wait... They didn't have a proper cover story! Vee was terrible at lying on the fly, but she needed to start talking now!
"O- OH YEAH, that was Gus. H-hes pretty fun. Then theres uhhh, Amity with the pink hair, Willow had glasses, and... oh yeah Hunter too but he was at our home that day." Vee needed to stall so she could come up with something.
"Is he The Blond cosmic frontier fan?" Masha asked, which confused Vee.
"When did you see him? I don't remember him going to your job after we left."
"No, I actually saw them at the haunted hayride! oh, I guess I only told you two-" Masha points two fingers at Sam and Diego respectively "-about that since you weren't hanging out with us back then. Whoops~"
Suddenly, Diego piped up. "Wait, you said 'Our' Home. So they like, live at your place or something"Â Â
CRAP!
"Uhhhh well... you see." Think of something Vee, just spit it out. "Foreign excange students?" she thought out loud. "-From out of state not another country!" she amended in a panic.
"Oâkay?" Sam raised her eyebrow "I've never seen them at school before, and you know I watch people like a hawk." It was true, back at camp, Sam compiled a list of the campers from other cabins activities in order to know who to watch out for.Â
It wasn't a skill she thought would be used agsinst her.
"Well, There are other schools in the area you know? I think they went to, yknow..." She didn't know the names of any other high schools. "...Not Gravesfield high?" She finished with a shrug. And also, they went back to their own rea-" DONT SAY REALM "TOWN like, right after Halloween, so yeah, that's why you've never seen 'em" She finished with a shrug and a manic chuckle.
How did she keep this up for thee months straight? She must've lost her touch. Then again, she considered not having to lie as a good thing.
"Sure, I'll accept that." Sam relented.
"Hold up, am I missing something, or does that like. Not make sense." Diego once again came in with his terribly timed questions. "Cause like, you said they lived in your house, why wouldn't they go to the same school?" How is he so perceptive!? It must be because he doesn't devote much energy into responding so he can listen better.
Masha put a hand on her shoulder "Hey, sorry about him Vee, if theres something you don't want to tell us, you don't have to." assured Masha. "We didn't mean to push so far." Masha turns toward the offender, "Diego." They enunciate.
Vee didn't her most of what Masha said. Where Masha tried to reassure her, Vee only heard an accusation. 'something you don't want to tell us' sounded more like 'You're hiding something, aren't you Vee.'Â And what did that last part mean? Could they tell she was panicking? WHY DID THEY SOUND ANGRY?
They'reGoingToForce AnswersOutOfmeNobodyTrustsMe-
Everything turned blurry, she was hyper aware of all the sounds of the room closing in on her. Her heartbeat was in her ears, everyones voices blended into a cocophony She needed to get away She's clammy and very sweaty-
It's queit, what changed, is there still danger?
She heard breathing, not her own, someone elses, not her own, and it makes her realize how quick she's breathing. She tries to slow down, matching the pace of the other person.Â
When she finally steadied herself (it felt like several minutes but also less than one)Â She opened her eyes (They were closed?) and sees Masha sitting on her knees on the bed in front of her (She doesn't remember getting into this corner). They continued to demonstrate the breathing exercise, which they also did with their hands.
Vee thinks she remembers something like this happening at camp, but isn't sure right now. Masha gestured their hands out wide, clearly asking if it was okay if they could give a hug.Â
You don't deserve one, her brain tells her. No, she shakes her hehead.
Masha sits with her, and they both breath. Such a simple act, filled with so much understanding. You doesn't deserve Masha.Â
She's now aware enough to know how mean she's being to herself. She spots her other friends sitting in the middle of the room, Dego on the floor while Samantha sits in the desk chair. She gives a meek wave and they wave back without keeping eye contact. They look ashamed, Masha must've given them a talking to.
"Hi guys, sorry you had to see that," she knew she shouldn't be apologizing, but this whole situation never would've happened if she was truthful from the beginning.Â
"No Vee, this wasn't your fault." Says Masha
Sam adds in "We're sorry. Diego said he should've realised before he asked that. And I'm sorry for getting so uptight about answers." Sam makes eye contact at the end, though it almost looks like she's scrutinizing Vee's face-
-She spins to look at the mirror and sees a splotchy mess of skin on her face. One could confuse it for vitiligo -a skin condition she learned some humans have- if not for the fact her face was previously a single solid shade of brown.Â
Her hair is now completely blue, and a bit shorter, exposing her ears in their full glory. They must've been flapping like crazy during her panic attack.
Her sclera was blue, and took on the glossy sheen of an amphibious creature.Â
None of those are human traits.
Her head snaps back towards Masha, cringing while waiting for a reaction.
"So..." They began. "I um. I like your ears?" They clerly want to say more, but refrains to be polite. "Once again, I don't wanna force you to answer. I've just got a lotta theories in my noggin right now and I would like to know the truth. But again, no pressure. Whetever the truth is, I'll try not to react badly." They finished by putting their hands up and smiling.Â
Both looked at their friends who nodded. "Hey I'm cool with you being a shape-changing spirit, or some cryptid, or whatever you are. Again, I'm sorry." Sam smiles.
Diego nods and says "Ditto, what she said."
"And if you're not ready right now, we trust you. We just want you to be comfortable with us. You can talk later
Now was the time to come clean to her friends. It wasn't because she was backed into a corner. They let her keep her secrets if she really needed too.
Her eyes tear up, and the tears wetted her cheek. They trust her.
Hopefully they stayed true to their words. Here goes nothing.
"Um, Let me tell you about a place called the Boiling Isles"
She shapeshifts into her true skin for the first time in their presence.
Sam fellbackwards off her chair while Diego simply said "woah." After squeaking in a high pitch, Masha just stared, taking in the details of her true for from her tail to her hair.
She couldâve eased the group in better, could've given them a better idea of what to expect. But flowery speeches were Luzâs deal, and Vee wanted to rip off the bandaid.
She hoped they would share Mom and Luz's opinions on how non-threatening she looked. Masha looked far from disgusted at least, but she had no idea what was on Diego's mind.
Sam lifted her chair to defend herself, before realizing how it looked and set it down. Vee only now remembered Sam has a fear of snakes, Ophidiophobia if she's correct.Â
She considered apologizing, but decided against it, given this whole thing was mostly Sam's fault. She could be petty, she deserves it. She's definitely getting around to it later though.
they let her explain herself in full, with no interruptions. She told them about the titan, demon and witches. She wasn't quite ready to tell them how she was born, but she told them she pretended to be Luz for the summer.
Everyone's eyes grew wide at the admission, and it looked like they had something to say. Then they looked in her eyes and she gave a look that said she never wanted to hurt them.
She didn't expect them to start joking around so quickly after several earth shattering revelations, but she could tell that they wanted to lighten the mood before discussing them.
They were also being super frustrating about the cute comments.
âI'm not cute. Luz calls everything cute, like. Possums, for one.â She scrunches her face, âand she didn't even bat an eye at a bunch of talking rats!âÂ
âYour face looks like a cat,â says Diego, his mouth curved in an uncharacteristicly mischievous grin. âBut like, a bald cat that fell in a can of green paint.â He teases.Â
"Hey, you up for that hug yet, Vee?" Masha smiled that pretty gap toothed smile, and Vee felt her resolve shatter.Â
"Y'know what? yeah. I could use one." Vee agreed.
"Want to make it four?" They asked, to which Vee nodded.
Vee tightly hugged Masha, and they embraced. With Vees hace in the crook of their neck, she wrapped her tail around Diego who had moved behind her. "Sweet" he simply remarked.
Masha looked at where Sam sat crisscrosed, hand hovering over Vee's tail hesitsntly. "Hey, you know she's not slimy, right?" Masha indignantly asked. "She's also warmer than I expected, she barely even feels like a snake. More like what I imagine a dragon would be like." Masha blinked "Can you turn into a dragon?" Masha almost shouted.
Vee shrugged, Sam insisted "But do IÂ have to?"
"Yeah, get over here dummy!" Vee wrapps the end of her tail around Sam's midsection. Vee thinks she looks a bit pale.
"Geez it must be 'everybody bully Sam hour' today! Really, I'm still sorry," Sam defends.Â
"You were a jerk, you owe me something expensive!"
Diego and Masha laughed at Sams expression, Vee leans deeper into Masha's hug.Â
"You okay Vee-Vee?" masha softly asks.
"Yeah," Vee looks around at her friends. getting an idea.
"Cabin seven!"
"HOO HAA HAA!" chorused four voices
"I love you guys." whispered the shapeshifter amongst her closest friends.

The Subtle Art of Becoming "That Girl" in 2024 đ¸â¨
°â°â˘ââ˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°â˘Â°â°
Hello beautiful souls! It's me, Hana. If you are new reader then
Hi! Iâm Hanalia and I want to empower women to prioritize their well-being while pursuing their dreamsđ
Today, I woke up feeling extra inspired by the #thatgirl aesthetic. You know her â she's the girl who embodies self-love, radiates positivity, and just seems to have her life beautifully organized. Personally, I believe, she's not just a trend; she's a movement towards becoming the best version of ourselves. And guess what? Becoming "that girl" isn't about perfection; it's about progress. It's about embracing the journey of self-improvement, self-care, and love. So, let's dive into a few ways you can bring a little bit of "that girl" magic into your everyday life:
1. Morning Rituals â¨
Start your day with purpose. Whether it's a morning skincare routine, meditation, or writing down your thoughts in a daily planner, find what centers you. If you have been following me for a while then you know how important this is. Remember, it's these small rituals that set the tone for a productive, positive day.
2. Self-Care Sundays đ
Dedicate time each week to pamper yourself. This could be a long bath, a skincare routine, or even a cozy evening with a book. It's all about showing yourself some love and appreciation.
I remember back in my childhood my older sister used to always have pamper sundays and I would always try and follow her footsteps however, back then your girl was as lazy as one can be...so zero exceptions. Be better than me girls and make the future you be proud.
3. Clean Girl Aesthetic đż
Embrace the clean girl aesthetic with a minimalist wardrobe, clean makeup looks, and a tidy space. A clutter-free environment not only looks good but also brings a sense of calm and order to your mind. Clean home = clean mind + remember clean body
4. Find Your Fitness Love đ
Whether it's pink pilates, yoga, or a brisk walk in the park, find a physical activity that you love. It's not just about the physical benefits but the mental clarity and energy boost it brings.
5. Nourish to Flourish đ
Eating well is a form of self-respect. Fill your plate with colors, textures, and nutrients. It's not just about looking good, but feeling good from the inside out.
6. Learn and Grow đą
Embrace new hobbies, read more books, and challenge yourself to learn something new often. Growth is a huge part of becoming "that girl".
7. Stay Organized đ
Invest in a good daily planner to keep track of your goals, appointments, and to-dos. There's something incredibly satisfying about ticking off tasks and staying on top of your game.
And here's a little secret for you: part of my "that girl" journey includes creating pieces that speak to my soul. I stumbled upon this adorable shop aka my Shop [GlowInGrow] that just screams self-care and love. My THAT GIRL planner is something that I did with love and my own hands. For me, it's not just a planner, it's my way of helping others because that's what being her is. Being her means she shares her secrets to help the rest of the girlies. MESSAGE ME FOR THE PROMO CODE *hint*
Also this planner has got you covered from setting your intentions and tracking your habits to planning your meals and self-care routines perfect for anyone looking to add that extra touch of mindfulness and beauty to their daily routine. It's subtle, but oh, so beautiful. đ
AND REMEMBER;
Becoming "that girl" isn't an overnight transformation. It's about making small, meaningful changes that align with who you are and who you aspire to be. Let's embrace this journey together, one step at a time. đ
Last but not least, at the end of your journey of becoming that girl awaits the future who is The Girl!
Stay safe and stay hot...
With Love, Hanalia

What's your favorite Icy moment?
I'M GLAD YOU ASKED. BEWARE, LONG POST, FULL OF LOVE FOR ICY AND SCREENSHOTS (mostly from the second film)
Episode 10 season 2, moment where they're solving the puzzle to get the codex
Well, it's more like favorite moment for all the Trix, i guess, but especially Icy because she says "i love you" to Darcy, then threatens to fucking kill her lmao, DODGES THE ATTACKS, KILLS SKY, and solves the damn puzzle like a queen.
This is what pops in my head when i think of a "favorite Icy moment"
Tho before I rewatched, i'd say that it's season 3 episode 1. Actually, this is still iconic Icy moment and I love it just as much (can't say the same about the rest of season 3...)
Like. First of all, who was that genius that said, hmm yes, let's send ICE witch in the ICE prison, sure nothing can go wrong! Second, Icy is SLAYING. Her line after she frees herself... It still echoes in my head in russian, because that's how i first heard this moment. Then
Just look at her and look at Darcy and Stormy. SHE'S SLAYING AND HAVING FUN.
ALSO I LOVE (and hate) moment from season 2 where she freezes Tecna second before she transforms. I love it because like SLAY, as you SHOULD, BUT I HATE IT BECAUSE IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. Like the winx always have fucking plot armor, and when they don't - this happens.
I actually love every moment of her being unhinged, and every moment of her using too much power for something that doesn't need THIS much effort. Like in episode 2 she was trying to blast the winx and burry them under the snow and like, half of Magix could see the light from it. Girl they are just freshments, you don't need to be so extra. Or in the next episode where she creates the damn iceberg to freeze Bloom (AND SHE MISSED this is funny and not offensive to her character because Bloom just got lucky) OR WHEN SHE FREEZES THE LAKE AND CREATES PILLAR OF ICE AS TALL AS FREAKING CLOUD TOWER IN THE FIGHT WITH BLOOM. Like. Yes. She's so damn powerful and doesn't afraid to show it. (Like Darcy and Stormy were exhausted much faster and they didn't use nearly as much magic as Icy) (season 3 did her dirty and i hate it. >:\) (season 3 lobotomized the trix, fuck this season) WELL EVEN IN SEASON 3 I REMEMBER ONE MOMENT where she was trying to find pixie village and was just FREEZING THE WHOLE FOREST? And when she's like getting mad and her power thickens in the air, like, how FAR can it go??
She's so extra.
OH ALSO.
The second film. Every second of her being on screen. God damn i love this film, let me fill this post with screenshots from it (PLEASE GIVE ME THIS DAMN MOVIE IN 4K đđ) (Also WHY DIDN'T THEY KEEP THIS STYLE IN 3D. IF THEY DID I WOULDN'T DROP SEASON 5, I'D EVEN WATCH THE THIRD MOVIE, WHY WHY WHY...) (In the perfect world winx reboot has this style and it slays.)
I WISH SHE STEPPED ON ME WITH THEM HEELS
BTW fun fact about this moment. In russian we have 2 versions of "you" - singular ("ŃŃ"), which is used for casual talks like with friends and people you know very well; and plural ("вŃ"), which can also be used as singular for people you respect or don't know too well (your boss, older people and like that). using "ŃŃ" talking to someone older than you or someone you don't know counts as disrespect. So the fact is, in this scene Icy uses "вŃ" talking to the king. Idk why, i just think it's funny detail. She'll threaten his life and demand something, but with respect â¨â¨
Her casual outfit is kinda shiny lol
This is how you transform with style â¨
Also they have shield around them in this moment, smart move (i'm sure it's a shield) even if winx are too slow to use this moment to attack them
(btw, i love how Darcy from a nerd turns into... this. if they were real there's like 60-70% chance that i fr wouldn't recognize her)
She got hit in the back, and had quick enough thinking to grab stella and drop her too, QUEEN
SHOULD I EVEN SAY ANYTHING
â¨Sâ¨Lâ¨Aâ¨Yâ¨
Icy being extra once again
She literally NEVER does this in actual series and i'm ANGRY. I hope the reboot will give us some more cool fights like in this film. Please. Don't fuck this up i'm begging you...
I kinda love how her cape just. hangs behind her. or wraps around her. like an actual piece of fabric with certain weight.
And i also love how her hair move too (but sometimes i'm like no WAY her hair stay behind her back I DON'T BELIEVE!) (i was trying to make such tail for myself and my hair fall on my face after EVERY slight tilt of my head) (but also my hair like 3 times shorter than hers, BUT STILL)
she wishes that it was bloom instead
TOUCH. They really almost never touch each other, so every time it happens something inside me explodes with joy and happiness.
She's so cute with this smile, she's literally said :>
hands.
Icy to Darcy: Are you scared? Eng dub: Icy sounds like she's teasing Darcy Rus dub: Icy sounds almost like it was genuine question and concern
GAHHH DHFGHSJHFSHF đđđ THEM!
Also english voice for Icy in this movie is kinda annoying ngl, her russian voice is way better. And them reading the spell sounds more intimidating. Even if you don't know the language, just check out ru dub, Icy sounds MUCH better there (can't say for the rest of the voices tho... be careful with Darcy's, she sounds really different)
UWU AHHH SHE'S SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Icy: So sorry, we have to reschedule đ
*grabs Erendor like a bag and flies away*
This moment made me laugh so much when i saw it for the first time, like, she sounds SO SILLY.
Btw HOW STRONG IS SHE? She holds an adult ass overweight man with one hand! He must be at least 100 kilos i think? damn girl. This is kinda scary.
Dropped a man to his death infront of his son with this silly innocent smile. A true icon. I really should make a video counting every time Icy attempts to kill someone.
Icy protects not only herself, but her sisters too đĽ˛đĽ˛
season 3 WISHES it was just as good. She's deflecting Bloom's attack with one hand and attacks someone else with the other!
Also, side note, damn, musa and flora really love attacking Stormy together :\ (deleted screenshots (to add more Icy screenshots HJjHJGFDFJ) of their attack on her from 2 different moments, flora ties her with vines and musa blasts. UNFAIR!)
WHY SO CUTE (my poor baby girl is scared đ) (damn i LOVE her blue eyes AHHH she's so gorgeous)
SHE WAS TRYING TO ATTACK, UNHINGED WOMAN. CLINICALLY INSANE.
also i really think they messed up Liliss (almost wrote Lilith LOL) and Beladonna's places all over the film LMAO.
also, speaking of Icy moments
psychologist: Icy with pyrokinesis doesn't exist she can't hurt you Icy with pyrokinesis:
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THIS? She never did this before, never does it again, like WHAT? This always confuses me so much. Like ???? is it the dragon fire they stole from Bloom?? They still have it?? So many questions about these 5 seconds.
shit i used exactly 30 pictures in this post. Damn.
i DON'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO PUT IT IN THE POST, SO I'M SAYING IT HERE! On rewatch i noticed that Icy has the least amount of verbal spells from the main cast (winx+trix). At least it feels tike it. Like, in season 1 i think she literally used only 3 verbal spells in 3rd episode. She's so good that she doesn't need to say her spells out loud most of the time! I'm gonna rewatch everything again, just to count every verbal and non-verbal use of magic by all of them. And then find ratio of verbal to non-verbal spells for each of them.
also side note, i was looking for Icy's spells, but noticed something else. when Bloom transformed, in english Icy says
That's an awfully cute little fairy outfit
Sounds neutral and sarcastic. BUT IN RUSSIAN DUB IT'S SOMEHOW SOUNDS REALLY FUCKING GAY! i'll try to adapt it for you...
You have a very pretty fairy outfit
???????????????? WHY??????????????????
OKAY I'LL STOP HERE, I'VE BEEN WRITING THIS POST FOR 4 HOURS, AND I NEED TO WORK!

Why Tifa is the Underdog of FFVII
Iâve been thinking about this ever since I first played Rebirth & got to Cosmo Canyon. Many folks were perplexed at the direction of Cosmo Canyon and found aspects of it surprising or confusing. I would say that it was entirely subversive for a number of reasons, but primarily, I want to focus on Tifa, because it got me thinking about her role in a much larger sense.
When I first played FFVII as a 14 -year-old girl in the late 90s, my first impression of Tifa was that she was an underdog as a character and as a heroine, especially in comparison to Aerith, the other heroine of FFVII. This was primarily due to how she was presented throughout the first disc, but also how she evolved as a character throughout the story, leading up to and through the Lifestream Scene. At the time, underdog stories particularly resonated with me (they were also quite prominent in the 90s) and they are relatable to real people. Itâs one of the many reasons I fell in love with Tifa.
That being said, FF7R has really developed all of the characters in ways that gives their arcs more depth and resonance, and I think this is particularly visible with Tifa. It's especially apparent in Rebirth, especially given what we see in Cosmo Canyon and how it relates to Tifaâs previous character development, while foreshadowingi what is to come for her and her role.
In storytelling, an underdog arc involves a character who starts from a position of disadvantage, either through external circumstances or internal struggles, only to rise and succeed against the odds. The underdog heroine, in particular, undergoes a journey of emotional growth, perseverance, and resilience, transforming her into a capable and powerful figure by the storyâs end. This arc creates relatability and builds tension, making the heroineâs eventual triumph all the more rewarding for both the character and the audience. Underdog stories tend to feature heavily in sports and martial arts films (hmmm) but it is a universal archetype in storytelling.
For Tifa, her role as an underdog is critical to understanding her role and ultimate evolution as a heroine, both in the OG and even more so in FF7R, which builds upon this arc more steadily and organically. Through pivotal events in the game as well as her evolving relationship with Cloud, Tifaâs underdog arc is designed to prepare her for her significant heroine arc in Part 3, which will cover disc 2 of the OG.
Let's start with the OG, where Tifa is an often understated character, particularly in the early portions of the story. In Disc 1, she plays a quieter role compared to more outwardly central characters like Cloud and Aerith. While Aerith has her connection to the Planet and Cloud is thrust into the role of the groupâs leader, Tifaâs journey seems more personal and internal. Tifa's primary focus is her relationship with Cloud, who is dealing with an identity crisis that leaves him emotionally distant, confused, and susceptible to strange behaviors. Although Tifa harbors deep feelings for Cloud, her confusion over their mismatched past memories leaves her vulnerable, confused, and reticent, compared to other characters who feature more centrally.
However, this positioning as an underdog is precisely what sets Tifa up for her eventual role as a heroine. In the OG, she begins as someone overshadowed by more powerful or prominent figures, but proves to be emotionally essential, particularly in the Lifestream scene. It is Tifa, with her quiet strength and deep connection to Cloud, who helps him recover his true self from the fragmentation caused by Sephirothâs manipulations.
Though Tifa may not have a magical connection to the Planet or the external conflict, her strength lies in her emotional resilience and her ability to anchor Cloud when he is at his lowest. This transition from being in the background to being pivotal in Cloudâs recovery is a hallmark of the underdog arc. Tifaâs most critical strength is not in her outward power but in her deep emotional ties and unwavering support. It is also a huge signal of the gameâs propensity to use red herrings and subversion as a vehicle for storytelling.
FF7R takes Tifaâs underdog arc that was present in the OG and expands it more steadily and organically. In Remake and Rebirth, Tifaâs journey is given more focus and depth, allowing her character to grow gradually, especially in relation to her bond with Cloud and her own emotional challenges, such as her internal conflict over her involvement with AVALANCHE.
In Remake, Tifa and Cloud reacquaint themselves after years apart, and their relationship becomes a central focus with far more development, nuance, tension, and prominence than the OG. Early in the story, Tifa is hesitant, unsure of her place in Cloudâs life and the larger conflict surrounding them. Much like in the OG, she begins in a vulnerable position, confused about the discrepancies of their pasts, and struggling with feelings of guilt and self-doubt.
Remake carefully builds up their relationship, showing moments where they grow closer, develop trust, and begin to support each other emotionally in ways they never did before. This slow burn of intimacy is a critical part of Tifaâs underdog arcâwhile she may not be the most obvious heroine within the scope of the external conflict, her emotional journey is laying the groundwork for her later importance in the internal conflict.
This is reinforced in Rebirth, where Tifaâs relationship with Cloud is tested by the growing threat of Sephiroth and related external forces. From the very first chapter, beginning with their conflict in Kalm, we see the tension, unresolved issues, and external manipulation (Sephiroth) between them that will carry through the story.
This slow burn of reconciliation and tension defines their relationship, as Tifa grapples with her growing trust in Cloud while dealing with his unpredictable behavior. The climax of this arc comes in Gongaga when, under Sephirothâs control, Cloud attacks Tifa. This moment marks a critical low point in their relationship, meant to test Tifaâs faith in Cloud and her ability to stand by him despite his actions.
However, the following Lifestream scene acts as a turning point for Tifaâs underdog heroine arc. In this scene, Tifa is essentially given a "tutorial" of sorts, which accomplishes three vital things:
1) Prepares her for her coming role in Part 3 (aka Disc 2) by reinforcing her emotional resilience and resolve;
2) Reveals that Tifa, too, has been gifted with an important connection to the Planet for a specific purposeâbecoming Cloudâs heroine, the one person who can help him reclaim his true self; and,
3) Fortifies her faith in Cloud, reaffirming her belief in him despite the trauma of his attack. All of these elements are crucial in building Tifa up for her ultimate role in Part 3, where her emotional strength and deep bond with Cloud will prove indispensable.
Following these climactic events in Gongaga, Tifaâs role as an underdog becomes even more pronounced during the events in Cosmo Canyon, revealing her heroine arc with greater clarity through a clever subversion of expectations. Traditionally, Cosmo Canyon is a section of the game that focuses on external conflicts, especially tied to Aerithâs role as a Cetra and her connection to the Planet.
However, in Rebirth, Tifa is also unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight in a setting that purposefully marginalizes her, with the narrative now drawing attention to her internal struggles. This shift in focus gives weight to her emotional and personal conflicts, contrasting with the larger planetary issues central to the external conflict, although centered in the same setting where those issues are the focal point.
Bugenhagen and the elders, who represent the epitome of knowledge about the Planet and the Lifestream, ridicule Tifaâs personal experiences, dismissing them as heretical and uneducated compared to their teachings. This organized structure of Cosmo Canyon, revered for its wisdom, alienates Tifa, making her feel further out of place. She is sidelined in a place where the spiritual wisdom of the Planet should matter most, yet her direct experiences within the Lifestream are discredited.
This subversion is essential to Tifa's arc: although she is overlooked by those considered authorities, it highlights her position as an underdog whose true power lies in her emotional resilience and connection to Cloud, not in abstract spiritual knowledge. Her ability to persevere beyond what she encounters in this scene is what will make her triumph in Part 3 further rewarding. The fact that the planet itself has facilitated this experience to some degree (in Gongaga) makes this arc even more compelling.
All of these events in Rebirth subtly prepare Tifa for her role as a heroine in Part 3. Despite being undervalued by those who should understand the power of her connection to the Lifestream, Tifa is destined for a crucial purpose. The Planet has clearly chosen her to be the one to save Cloud, "the boy who is destined to save the world."
This culminates with a powerful emotional contrast that sets up her lowest point just before the game ends, perfectly priming her for her ultimate heroine role in Part 3. After the events in Cosmo Canyon and Gongaga, the narrative takes a softer turn during Tifa's date with Cloud at the Gold Saucer. This scene is crucial for both Tifa and the player, as Cloud finally gives a clear indication of his feelings for her by kissing her, offering a moment of happiness and intimacy. For Tifa, this moment of connection and affection from Cloud is deeply validatingâafter their long, slow burn of building trust and emotional closeness, this kiss solidifies that Cloud returns her feelings. It creates the "calm before the storm," giving them both a brief moment of peace and joy before the dark trials ahead.
*disclaimer* it doesnât matter if the moment is "optional". All of the dates are "optional" in that sense and all of them are narratively important. It is much more honest to consider the date "expanded" rather than "optional". They expand our understanding of the narrative and characters, not alter it.
Anyway, this moment of emotional relief is soon followed by the unraveling of Cloudâs mental state, marking the descent of Tifa's arc into its lowest point yet. The game transitions from the joy of the Gold Saucer to the Temple of the Ancients, where Cloudâs spiraling intensifies under Sephiroth's manipulation. Tifa is forced to watch as the man she loves loses control, and her devastation grows as she realizes how powerless she is to stop it.
The situation worsens at the Forgotten City, where not only does Cloud continue to deteriorate, but Tifa also witnesses the loss of Aerith, one of her closest friends. The combination of losing Aerith and seeing Cloud fall deeper into Sephiroth's influence leaves Tifa emotionally shattered, hitting rock bottom.
These events at the end of Rebirth set the stage for Tifaâs ultimate rise in Part Three. Her devastation, watching Cloud spiral and suffering the heartbreak of losing Aerith, pits her at the lowest emotional point in her journey. This is essential for unfolding her heroine arc in Part 3 (Disc Two of the original game), where she will be pivotal in the events at the Northern Crater, the escape from Junon, Mideel, and ultimately, the Lifestream scene.
The Lifestream scene is the culmination of Tifaâs entire arcâeverything she has experienced in Remake and Rebirth has been preparing her for this moment. Despite the many challenges of the journey thus far - many of them internal - Tifa will be the one to guide Cloud back to his true self, using the deep emotional connection they've forged. It is here that her resilience, emotional strength, and faith in Cloud, despite everything that has happened, will solidify her as the heroine destined to play a critical role in not just Cloudâs recovery but in the partyâs fight against Sephiroth.
In this way, Tifaâs underdog arc is not just about personal growth; it is about the power of emotional resilience in a world where traditional heroism is often defined by strength and cosmic or magical power, a core message of the gameâs overall subversion. By the time she reaches her role in Part 3, Tifa will have transformed from someone who was dismissed and overshadowed into a heroine whose quiet strength proves to be indispensable.
Her journey, both in OG and FF7R, shows that true heroism often lies not in grand gestures but in emotional endurance and unwavering support for those who matter most - those we love.

SPOILERS FOR THE NEW WALPURGISNACHT RISING TRAILER!!!!!
More analysis here.
Okay. So in this clip with Madoka and Homura dancing, Homura's eyes are clearly pinkâ just like her devil form. Her eyes gained that coloring after she took Madoka's godhood and its a visual indication of her power.
But in this clip of her looking in the mirror, her eyes are purple again. And she looks shocked.
She looks confused, like this is something that shouldn't be happening.
Now, what does this mean? I don't know. We've not seen enough of the movie to properly theorize, but I do think there's at least something we can gather from this.
First of all: her outfit is completely different. In the dancing scene, she has a black collar and black headband (one that's distinctly not the black one she usually hasâ note the silver stripe in the middle). But in the mirror, she has a white collar and is wearing Madoka's ribbons. She wore those ribbons after Madoka ascended to godhood, and also after Homura rewrote the world. When she and Madoka met again at the end of Rebellion, she gave her the ribbons back and doesn't wear them in the final few minutes of the movie.
So I think mirror scene may take place right after Homura reset the world, when she's becoming accustomed to her new powers and how they affect her. Maybe the beginning of the movie will show Homura's process of creating the new world?
Secondly, the hand mirror she has does not at all look like something she'd normally use. She's never been associated with the beach, ocean, or seashells before. But you know who has? Sayaka. Her witch form is based on a mermaid and her attribute in Magia Record is Aqua (water). So this is could be Sayaka's mirror and Homura somehow got her hands on it.
Next, the text surrounding it. "Dumme" is a German word that translates to stupid, and Venus is the Roman goddess of love. Regardless of if the mirror belongs to Sayaka or Homura, the message is the sameâ they're being called a stupid goddess. Stupid for loving.
Both these girls have a complicated history and relationship to their romantic feelings. Sayaka's reason for becoming a magical girl and eventual transformation into a witch were both kickstarted by her feelings for Kyosuke. As for Homura, she's pretty blatantly coded to have internalized homophobia and she views her feelings for Madoka as being evil.
I have no idea if this mirror or Homura's eye color will have any real significance, but I find it fascinating nonetheless.

i DO think we were kinda robbed tho, in the Vaggie & Carmilla song fight, that lady death ballet herself didn't at one point knock Vaggie's spear out of Vaggie's hand (to FORCE vaggie into thinking more defensively rather than rush in and stabbi-ly) and then have a close up shot of the spear on the floor, right before tippy toe Carmilla deliberately ends her eternal en-point to put her HEEL DOWN on the weapon and trap it there, as a fun and scary visual pun
also can't help imagining a version with an answer to Carmilla letting her hair down at the start of the fight to match with Vaggie...
Carmilla does it to even the odds when Vaggie complains she's not used to fighting with long hair. ooh an answering moment right after the spear one above- where Vaggie shows her shift into taking her own safety SERIOUSLY by pulling off her ribbon and taking the time to tie her hair UP so she ISN'T having to fight with that distraction swinging around
and then she figures out how to block Carmilla's armored kicked unarmed instead of getting her ass kicked trying to charge in
and when Carmilla backs her up the stairs and into the second landing balconies (bc vaggie is RETREATING she's being CAREFUL of herself) one last kick is about to connect with Vaggie's head and she's got no more room left to retreat to and she's singing about wanting to fight with love so she can be around to PROTECT the people SHE loves-
bam new wings reveal flap backwards off the railing into open air and out of danger
VAGGIE LOSING HER WINGS FOR NOT KILLING<-
->GETTING THEM BACK WHEN SHE INTERNALIZES THE HEY MAYBE NOT WANTING TO GET KILLED HERSELF EITHER BC HOW WILL SHE BE THERE FOR THE WOMAN SHE LOVES IF SHE MAGICAL GIRL TRANSFORMS INTO A STUPID CORPSE????
like it's a perfectly good fight scene as is and gets the idea across later in vaggie's fight with lute but hhhhhrrrg i just, look at the other song moments the show has, all the set movements and character moments THEY get, and im like
LET CARMILLA BEAT VAGGIE UP IN EXTRA DRAMATIC MODE
i KNOW we have to fit in an important flashback in too but GODS PLEASE!!! I LOVE WOMEN FIGHTING WOMEN!!!!!
carmilla please beat vaggie up some more in the future or i'll shrivel up pls im sure vaggie would have fun with it too she supposedly loves dancing
AND aDD CHARLIE TO THIS!!! Vaggie could call the fights "dance lessons" and Charlie could be SO happy hearing that, SO delighted her gf is getting a new none-business none-trauma hobby at last, Charlie being SO SO SO supportive of it and watching the hotel alone some afternoons to make SURE Vaggie has time away from work for her dancing
(the same way charlie has father-daughter catch up dates with her dad shhh it's happening don't tell me its not)
BUT THEN Charlie drops by a 'rehearsal' once as a surprise (she brought donuts!!) and freaks the FUCK out (donuts flying Everywhere) bc the "Dancing" is just Vaggie grinning as she gets smacked around the Carmine compound, helping test out WHICH weapons work BEST against angels while honing her own new not-dying instincts as Carmilla kinda tries to kill her a little. for science
until charlie walks in on it and almost sets the compound full of live ammunition crates on fire
to make up for this horrible surprise, Charlie makes Vaggie promise her they'll start going to ACTUAL dance lessons together <3
AND she threatens Carmilla into designing some angelic steel practice armor for gf becaue oh hell no, oh fuck this, oh absoLUTELY charlie is getting NO sleep otherwise after walking in on THAT
pls pls pls and let vaggie be winged this time for the fight toooo, i wanna see some deadly anti-air ballet jumps :(

Fall 2024 Anime Overview: Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.
Premise: Monsters called Kai are threatening ordinary people, and only magical girls can stop them. However, being a magical girl is no longer the domain of teenagers, and has evolved into an actual career dominated by adult women. Companies employ magical girls and send them out to exterminate Kai. Kana is having a hard time getting her first job. But when she ends up helping out a magical girl, sheâs invited to become one for a small, scrappy company. Thereâs a lot for Kana to learnâŚ
This was my favorite magical girl show of the Fall 2024 season- and how amazing is it we had three new ones for once! There's a lot to love about Magilumiere! For one thing, it gave me something I always crave: Adult magical girls (or magical women, though theyâre called magical girls in this show). Much like how classic mahou shoujo often explores the struggles adolescence and growing up, this show uses mahou shoujo as a way to explore what itâs like to be a young woman entering the working world. Kana struggles to grow her confidence and adjust to her new job, but with the encouragement of her boss and co-workers, she discovers her own talents.
All of the magical ladies are pretty fun, with my favorite being Hitomi Koshigaya, Kanaâs senpai in the work place. Sheâs a brash and raucous woman who loves kicking ass with shit-eating grin, she only ever wears tracksuits when sheâs not on the job, she talks like a delinquent, bursts with confidence, and sheâs very protective and sweet towards Kana. Basically, sheâs goals, everything I love about soft hearted delinquent girls only sheâs actually a grown woman this time! Wow!
But we also get introductions to plenty of other cool magical ladies, all who approach their jobs in a different way where they can learn from each other. And the women are always treated respectfully, visually and by the narrative. No jarring objectification or anything like that.
The show has a bit more of a focus on men than youâd expect, since while the magical girls fight on the front lines, Magilumiereâs engineer/tech support team are men, and the boss and his mysterious backstory is a big part of the show. However, theyâre all good characters! And the show does still put a big focus on women, exploring their relationships, their development, and all the cool magical girl fights they can get into. It is so nice to see some hype magical lady fights, and rather than the unfortunate animation poor Acro Trip got, this show does pretty well with its visuals and fight scenes. The story especially lot of fun with the transformation sequences, and I love to see it.
The show also has a lot to say about corporate world, and it feels like itâs only getting started on that. From the beginning, it makes sure to contrast the way Magilumiere operates from the more cutthroat business of larger companies. The companyâs boss, Kouji Shigemoto, was previously a partner in a much larger business, but seems to have left because how they were doing things didnât jive with his ideals, and now heâs in charge of start-up where he's very focused on the best possible experience for both his employees and customers. Heâs contrasted to his previous partner, whoâs gone on to grow a big company that only cares about efficiency and the bottom line. His old friend doesnât care about property damage or the feelings of the people who need help, just getting it done quickly and going on to the next job. He fires his employees casually, and doesnât seem to care about them.
Meanwhile, Shigemoto is a very encouraging presence in his company, who checks in with his employees, talks to them, supports  them, and really respects their input. Magilumiere makes a point of avoiding property damage and finding ways to help the customer, even if itâs a lot more trouble. He describes himself as wanting to âprotectâ peaceful moments where they can just hang out and have fun. It may come off as being a little too worshipful of start ups, but I donât think itâs trying to say all startups are like this. Shigemoto started his with the specific goal of being kinder to his employees and being true to his ideals, and thatâs not a thing that applies to all startups.Â
It's not saying anything groundbreaking so far, like itâs definitely not deeply questioning the hellscape of capitalism right now, but the message is nice, and Iâm interested in seeing where it goes. The fact magical girls are privatized despite providing a life saving service is interesting, and I wonder if the showâs going to touch on this too, since itâs been implied thereâs a grim origin involved. And then there's lots of a little jokes about tech companies too. The fact the magical women suck monsters up into flash drives after defeating them is honestly so funny.
The story also gives some brief shout outs to struggles real women face in the workplaceâitâs mentioned thereâs people on not-Twitter who mock magical girls for being âoldâ and just seem to want to harass and criticize them. But this hadn't really been explored in depth so far, which Iâd like to see from the show. It would also be nice to see exploration of gender on the tech side of things--- like in the real world, itâs really notably male dominated. Weâve gotten some focus on one woman CEO and one girl engineer, but the gender imbalance is very much there.Â
The show disappointed very slightly by briefly throwing out that menâs magic is âtoo aggressiveâ (whatever that means?) and thatâs why itâs all magical girls, which is a too-common gender essentialist explanation for women dominating a fantasy action story (see: Claymore) that has weird implications. Why canât a lot of girls just be really good at magic? Why canât it just happen to be a female dominated career but there are some magical boys? (And the fact the the explanation has to be like, guys are just TOO strong, TOO cool, TOO manly is like. lmao okay.) But it is a throwaway line that doesnât ever come up again (and it does at least frame it as a âmysteryâ they might figure out someday).
That brings me to an issue that may be uncomfortable for some viewers- Shigemoto wears a magical girl outfit while heâs working, and when heâs introduced the angle and vibe is intimidating and Kana reacts in shock and possibly fear, possibly playing into transphobic stereotypes. The next episode, however, makes it clear sheâs specifically be shocked that itâs a middle aged man wearing âcosplayâ at work rather than ever saying itâs the dress, the other employees are chill about it, Kana gets used to it, and the narrative moves on pretty quickly.
However it comes up in a minor way a couple more times, with Kana saying she's surprised Koshigaya worked there after seeing the boss dressed like that (Koshigayaâs response being âhey you decided to too! People in this company are interesting, arenât they?â). Another magical girl doesnât seem put off by it at all, but immediately assumes itâs business related. It is implied thereâs some sort of work related origin for his cosplay and it's possibly tragic, but he does definitely enjoys the clothing (and has a nice skincare routine) and the male characters are always 100% supportive, with one of them particular often discussing fashion with him, if there should be more ribbons etc.
So yeah, YMMV over whether it crosses over into transphobia (or edges into it) but Iâve definitely seen way worse. I feel the series is mostly supportive even if itâs like âhahaha itâs a little weird right!â itâs not outright mean to him about it (imo).
The pacing may be a little slow sometimes, really wanting to cover every moment of the manga, but itâs always a good time, and thereâs plenty of hype moments. The concept is so interesting and has so much potential, and I feel like the show is running with it.
The show has been unfortunately been confined to Amazon Prime, where a lot of people probably missed it, but it seems to be doing well in Japan and a second seasons already been announced, to my delight!
Over all, if youâre a magical girl fan or are just interested in a good show that explores magi-tech, working adult issues, and has some cool ladies fighting and bonding, I really recommend this one.

could i request some kind of wato magical girl* au?
this is a mix of a whole bunch of magical girl stuff, though notably its heavily inspired by tokyo mew mew (animal ears + tails, aliens). i also love the pissed off magical girl trope lol...... i hope you enjoy!
Word count: 583
This job fucking blows. Wato has missed three dates, four parties, and a whole graduation ceremony in the last month alone because of this magical girl crap. Yes, the wand is kind of sick and lets her blast aliens and demons into smithereens, but her social life is in shambles. All this trouble because some stupid rock on a ring chose her or some vague, mystical bullshit like that.
Therefore, this job fucking blows.
Sheâs just managed to apprehend the shithead alien that started this whole thing in the first place. Itâs a vaguely human shaped mass of color, blinking in and out of sight as she charges up her wand again.
âGet the fuck off my planet!â she yells, baring her teeth at it behind her porcelain wolf mask. Itâs three am. Sheâs got a contract for the actual job that pays her bills at eight. Something in her compels her to raise her wand and start bashing it onto the alienâs âheadâ, divine light radiating from it in waves. âGo! Away! Go! Away!â
The alien wails. Multicolor maybe-blood splatters onto her skirt and boots, dark green with pink detailing. The outfit is, blessedly, made by magic, meaning she doesnât have to clean it every time she gets weird alien goop on her. The wolf tail and ears are a nice bonus too, though the more animalistic habits these transformations bring arenât as appreciated. She growled at her coworker the other day because he disagreed with her.
âGreen, cut it out.â
Itâs Orange. Orange is the other magical girl around these parts, outfit and wand made up of a gold and orange color scheme that contrasts nicely with Watoâs own green and pink. Orange lands nearby, skirts flaring elegantly, cat tail swaying.
âCan you wrangle this thing?â Wato complains, pausing her assault. The alien lays in a limp, sputtering puddle on the floor.
âYou turned it into mush,â Orange holds her wand out and swirls it in the air. A portal opens up beneath the alien, and it falls through into a staticky world that disappears in a blink.
Orange can teleport the aliens back to their home planets. Wato can beat them into submission. There might be any other number of gemstones out there that do even more than that, but Wato and Orange have made it work so far on their own.
âI canât believe that took so long,â Wato sighs and puts a hand on her hip. Orangeâs white and gold cat mask seems to laugh at her. âI hate this.â
âWell Green,â Orange says, but doesnât finish the thought. Well indeed.
âSee ya next time,â Wato says with a wave.
âSee ya.â
Getting home feels like everything Wato couldâve dreamed of. Once all the magic has peeled away and itâs just Wato, alone in the deep night silence, they feel better. They manage to catch a few hours of shut eye, though theyâre almost late to their work event.
Ken is there already when Wato arrives. She looks worse for wear, like she didnât sleep at all, dark hair mussed up and eyes at a perpetual half-mast.
âHey man, you alright?â Wato asks as they jog up to him, their heavy camera bag causing them to slant to one side.
âHad some pretty bad insomnia last night,â Ken says, yawning loudly. âLetâs grab some coffee?â
âYeah, weâve got a couple minutes before we gotta get set up.â
Insomnia. How Wato wishes their problems were as mundane as insomnia.

What do the Avengers think of Cody after discovering that he has Thor's hammer?
Thor: He is going to be very confused as to why a human child was able to lift Mjolnir and why the kid has a monstrous appearance when he transforms. At first, Thor's goal would be to get back his hammer at any cost, thinking before meeting Cody that he would fight to get Mjolnir back, but got shocked when Cody accepted to return the hammer at the first request⌠thought, the hammer would not obey that request.
Wasp: she would love him! Wasp would just see Cody as the cutest thing in the world. Since the appearance of the boy is of a fluffy griffin it would be very hard for Wasp to resist petting him. Thought, she wonders why Cody doesn't have wins when he is a griffin. Still, Wasp is willing to help Cody and protect him from any villain who wants to harm him (Morocco is shaking in the background).
Ant Man: ¨kid, where are your parents?¨ Probably the most worried of the team because of the fact that the one who wields a weapon from the gods is a 10-year-old kid. Thought, he is surprised at the level of empathy and stubbornness the kid has when facing problems. But gets very worried when he learns that there's an immortal English man looking to kill the kid, an extravagant hunter who wants the kid as a trophy, a rich lady (that might not be human) in the position of some dangerous tech that also wants to kill the kid⌠and a crazy girl whos hair looks like bacon that wants to trap the kid and sell him to whoever pays the better⌠also some Gods and Monsters, but in this situation the humans are scarierâŚ
Iron Man: well, the kid did say he would return the hammer, so mission accomplished! Well, nop! The hammer doesn't want to cooperate and is having a tantrum. This also mostly involves ¨magic¨ so Tony would have a harder time understanding what is happening 70% of the time⌠well, at least with the Greene family Tony can have a space to share his ideas and be as creative as he never could! It is kinda nice, and the daughter of the main scientist is really smart and shares a lot of Tony's style⌠but who is the little girl dressed in purple who has been following him!??
Captain America: totally vives with the kid and sees a bright future for him with and without the hammer! Thought, Steve does agree with Hank in the fact that a child so young should not be involved in dangerous situations, and should not be wanted dead by villains! But sees too how the boy's tenacity has helped so many on the island.
Hawkeye: ¨Man, what a disappointment, I thought that we were going to fight Loki or a giantâŚÂ¨ Clint says before Wasp punches him in the faceâŚ
Hulk: ¨too small to fightâŚÂ¨ it means that Cody is still too small to punch. Hulk needs an opponent as big as Wasp to punch! Well, it actually means that Cody is too nice and offered Hulk food so the kid is safeâŚ
Bruce Banner: ¨⌠what Hulk said¨
Black Panther: [starts a secret investigation on the whole Griffin Rock island and takes a deep look at the Burns family] Quickly Cody catches him doing that because the kid has the eyes of a falcon and 100 cameras working full time! Actually, very impressive. T'challa was really caught in surprise when Cody caught up in his tricks to access security and was more surprised when the child was not mad at him, and much much surprised when Cody asked him if he wanted to check something in particular on the main lab computerâŚ
Did I forget someone???
