First kiss in public

Till this moment they've never kissed in public. Only Price saw them kiss and it was a traumatic moment immediately before this during their rescue

It's very obvious they're together but they just don't suck face lol

His family.

Even after so long, Ghost still felt sometimes in awe when he found himself thinking about them as that.

His family.

Surrounded by laughter and happy chatter, sitting at the pub one Saturday night.

Yuri and Myléne sitting together, as close as they could be, with his arm around her shoulders, and sometimes whispering into each other’s ear. Sometimes even exchanging discreet kisses.

Johnny with Gabi sitting on his lap, sharing her cocktail after his beer was all but gone already, laughing the loudest.

Kyle and Diego sitting side by side, no doubt holding hands under the table. Gaz still had his right arm on a sling although his dislocated shoulder was so much better. Diego still looked awful with his face full of bruises, but the white flash of his pearly smile was as joyful as ever.

Price… his rock. His anchor. His heart clenched just thinking how close he had been to lose him. Now seeing him roaring with laughter with Nikolai, keeping Heather secured on his lap in spite of her protests about his mild injuries, it calmed his anxiety.

He could have lost him.

He could have lost both.

Freya, with Rudy. Ignoring the way Johnny still glared at him from time to time, even though he was more than okay with their relationship. All lovey dovey in spite of the way he was blushing, absolutely smitten with her and her bubbly smile.

Alejandro nudging Kyle’s side with his elbow, laughing at his Sergeant Major. Both of them had flown to help in the search, and two weeks later were still there, with the excuse of making sure everything was alright.

Farah nursing her orange juice, laughing at something Alex was trying to tell Laswell, while Kate looked like she was about to bail and go home, tired of dealing with drunks. But she stayed. Because they were her family too.

Two weeks after the all hands on deck call, and they were still there.

His family.

Nikolai, holding Olga close to his side, with one arm wrapped around her waist, and his free hand holding hers. Mirth in his eyes, but also fondness and that haunted look that had accompanied him the whole time the team had looked for Price and Riot. The haunted look that told him that he, too, thought all the time about what if.

What if they hadn’t found them.

What if they hadn’t found them on time.

What would they do without Price to steer them on the path.

What would they do without the ray of sun that was nestled against his side, giggling at one of Johnny’s stupid stories, her fingers interlocked with his while his free arm was firmly around her.

Ghost sighed, deeply, a low rumble inside his chest that made Christine look up at him, with her uneven smile and a questioning look in her blue eyes. And for the first time since they got them back, almost two weeks ago, Simon could shake Ghost off, and his face relaxed just slightly.

The skull balaclava was long forgotten on the table, after his fifth drink. In that moment, slightly buzzed by the alcohol, he didn’t care anymore about having his family see his face. All of them had seen it at one point or another.

Dark brown eyes searched her face, deliberately slow, waiting for the blush to appear when she felt the heat of his smoldering gaze. Her high cheekbones, still bruised. Her blue-gray eyes that still gave him chills. The smile that he had feared he’d never see again.

Simon didn’t even think about it. He didn’t stop to ponder, to wait for his usual reservation to kick in, for his aversion to public PDA to deter him.

He simply dragged her closer to his side, the hand that was on her shoulder reaching up to tilt her jaw up, and lowered his head onto hers until he covered her mouth with his, swallowing her surprised gasp with as much hunger as he drank her moans in bed.

A chorus of muffled gasps surrounded them when the rest of the gang realized what he was doing, but the only thing Simon focused in was on the way her fingers tangled in his hair and pulled him down to her, kissing him back just as hungrily.

Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe it was the desperation of not knowing if he’d get her and Price back alive. Maybe it was the secret yearn to seal the deal, to cry to the world that she was his and he was hers.

Simon almost chuckled when he heard Johnny cheering and loud clapping from who knew who, but he didn’t care. He only broke the kiss to allow Christine to breathe, their lips still touching, and smiled down at her. Sincerely. Happy.

And he had to drown laughter when her arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him down closer so they would kiss again. He barely saw her flipping the bird at Johnny when the Scot joyfully called for them to get a private room.

His family.

He was home.

(Sofia's POV)

My parents were asked to give a seminar for married and soon-to-be-married couples at our church! The official title of their event was "Trembling Before Him: Trusting in God As a Couple." They've been married for nearly 28 years and are more in love than ever; what a blessing it is to be able to share that wisdom with others!

In other news, Caterina and Perry have now been together for several months. I don't even want to imagine the phone bill! Josh snapped the funniest photo of her after church- once again on the phone with Perry! Long distance relationships are so difficult, and I know Rina's praying for a proposal soon so she can join Perry in San Myshuno.

It's terrifying to think of my best friend and "baby" sister moving away from me and becoming a wife and mom, but I'm trusting in God to shepherd me through this fear, and I know I'll come out the other side nothing but happy and excited for her. Aside from one disastrous group date the year I turned 18, I haven't sought to get to know any young men, so I'm already preparing myself for a tough adjustment period as she moves into a different season of life while I stay put. I know that the Lord will help us remain close even as our circumstances change.

I have pretty much forgotten the American remake, Vanilla Sky (Cameron Crowe, 2001), with Tom Cruise. And I'm afraid I'm going to forget the original, Open Your Eyes, rather quickly, too. Sci-fi head-spinners generally work for me only if they feature plausible and interesting people. The protagonist of Open Your Eyes, César (Eduardo Noriega), is certainly handsome but otherwise he's just another rich layabout who doesn't seem to have much compunction about stealing Sofia (Penélope Cruz), the young woman his friend Pelayo (Fele Martínez) brings to César's birthday party. But that awakens the jealousy of his ex-girlfriend, Nuria (Najwa Nimri), who offers César a ride in her car and then drives it off a hillside. The accident leaves César disfigured -- and then the plot switches into a complex cross-cutting between reality and nightmare. The premise is intriguing: We learn eventually that the disfigured César, told that plastic surgery can do nothing to restore his good looks, commits suicide so that he can be cryogenically frozen, in the hope that one day be revived and have his face restored. But he also signs a clause that allows for his memories to be replaced with artificial ones, so that he will forget the trauma of the accident and the disfigurement. The unraveling of this plot, devised by Amenábar and Mateo Gil, involves much confusion of identity, including scenes in which César finds Sofia turning into the murderous Nuria. With the aid of the psychologist Antonio (Chete Lara), who may or may not be real, César manages to discover what may or may not have happened -- the film is just that unwilling to make everything explicit. Cruz, who played the same role in the American remake, is quite effective as the lovely Sofia, a victim of César's obsession and Nuria's cruelty, generating the only real suspense in the film.

It would be easy to mistake the lack of chaos in Noelle’s generation as boring, but she did so much living. She earned level three visas in France, China, and Egypt, before having a successful career as a nectar maker. She was also an awesome mom to Mateo. She and Alejandro are featured together because from the moment they met, they were a team. They supported each other’s dreams, made their way through life together, and died on the same day. The calm of this generation was lovely and sweet, and their contributions to the legacy are large. Farewell, Noelle and Alex.

Open Your Eyes (1997)

In the realm of concept between the war of dreams vs. reality this 1997 Spanish masterclass work Open Your Eyes examines both sides in one mans life. Cesar is your ordinary 20 something year old frat boy type who likes parties, women, and living in the moment. He feels on top of the world and uses those around him to make his crown brighter. Eventually Sofia, portrayed wonderfully by Penelope Cruz, enters his life after she's introduced by Cesar's friend, Pelayo. This comes with some friction, that Sofia is of interest to Pelayo but Cesar shows no hesitation in pursuing the girl as another flavor of the month. Later, Cesar with his current fling, Nuria, get into a car accident which leaves Cesar's face disfigured altering the course of his life and people around him. When Sofia and Pelayo don't see Cesar the same way anymore, it spirals him into a deep depression and that's where Cesar's life and the movie go a different direction. As though the movie may seem complicated, it was made in a way where it's easy enough to follow and understand Cesar through his struggles. The film is also nearly split into 2 different movies entirely while staying equally as exciting. Open Your Eyes has a personal resonation with me or anyone who dreams of something too good to be true only to realize that you will have to wake up at some point and come to terms with reality. The concept isn't super original but the movie does a perfect job of staying with its source material and being gripping throughout as Open Your Eyes is the best foreign movie I have ever seen and places at number 3 on this list of 50.
