I'd argue the rougher rivalries taught more?#regardless of your opinions on the characters themselves you can't deny that Gary/Paul/Drew/Harley/etc- the rivals that pushed A&M-#had the biggest impact on their growth over the rivals that didn't push. note that 'friends' and 'rivals' are different categories for this #I'm pitting. like. gary and paul against morrison and ritchie and not against dawn or pikachu or brock or whatever. different convo.#but it was growth out of spite to be better than the jackass rival at first and then that CHANGED INTO MUTUAL BETTERMENT #AND WANTING TO BE BETTER ✨FOR✨ AND ✨WITH✨ THEIR RIVAL. I am already a big enjoyer of Friede and Amethio's rivalry and dynamics in general, so if Crave turns out to be Amethio's father, I feel like this knowledge would reframe their rivalry in very interesting ways and give additional readings and perspectives..

#something something about amethio rejecting his father and friede stepping in to be the positive male figure in his life at that point #Not saying friede takes on that role (dad) because i don't interpret him that way at all #however he is very much meant to be someone amethio takes inspiration from #most adults in amethio's life aren't inspirational i think so friede is probably the first person he met who is free and independent etc #i need to be moderately invested in that theory so i'm not disappointed if it doesn't turn out to be true lol #but i think it adds a lot to the narrative.. amethio and liko's parallels etc and even friede's character!#the thought that he is giving back to the younger generation after being nurtured by teachers and mentors #oh friede the man that you are. the coolest guy ever that you are.. luv you #horizons tends to be very intentional about its writing.. the mentor character (friede) has been helped by Very Specific People #and feels indebted to them. before his rvt era. those people are liko's mother (lucca) and roy's grandfather. and director crave.#hmm. i wonder what that means!#(not saying friede isn't helped by the rvt. but they act as equals. lucca was a hiearchical superior as a teacher etc.)#also. on a personal level. i think it's funny if friede knew amethio's dad before meeting him #crave going like 'i'm glad my son has taken a liking to you professor friede :) i hope you can continue to get along'#and ame being like 'we don't get along? smh'#we'll see where that leads. but hz doesn't really trick its audience. it expects us to pick up on all these themes and hints here and there #like how this ep points out that yeah gibeon still being alive at this point seems odd and for him to be ame's grandpa too.#it's intentional! so i'm just pointing out reocurring patterns.. but yeah. we'll see #friede #hz074 #character notes #episode notes

#I'm glad i wasn't awake for it cause tbh I'd have been really scared #the situation wasn't funny but i think it IS funny that i keep missing major events for various reasons #when i was a kid we were in canada without tv or electricity when the oj simpson car chase happened #and maybe you kids don't know much about it but it was a BIG DEAL for some reason?#the cbc mentioned it for five seconds on the radio so i knew something happened but didn't think much of it #we got back to the US and it was the only thing people were talking about #i was baffled #so yeah i tend to miss big shit sometimes lol

A chapter #First of all: I'm ENDLESSLY GRATEFUL to the person who sent me the translation basically as soon as the chapter came out.#I even did like 90% of typesetting but didn't finish it because I had to go out #(aka with my friends were literally knocking out at my room and I couldn't make it any more late lol)#Mixed feelings about it? Mostly because there's so much exposition... Usually color spreads / pages open the volume...#Akutagawa fake dying again is funny. Like it isssss but also. Idk it's a little lame how we're changing the pov from ss/kk again :/#I can't even tell if I'm being biased or if it's an actual storytelling critique. I don't care right now I just want to see Akutagawa–#being cool rather than. You know. Dead on the ground.#That said! It's also very funny and touches my sense of humor precisely.#Like yeah Akutagawa being like the second strongest pm member and overall one of the most powerful ability user in the world–#that everyone fears (and I know he is! He is indeed for real!)#And yet he always ends up face to the ground 😂😂😂 Like if we don't count the ss/kk fights he literally only ever won against Hawthorne.#And even then he failed to kill him and Mitchell. I do think the hardest part about actually writing a whole novel for the first time is having to constantly remind myself that first drafts are allowed to suck. They are not meant to be perfect. They're allowed to be filled with half thoughts where you need to go back later because you can't figure out what you need to fix until there are words on a page. Like, allowing myself to feel like I am bad at something and still continuing to push might be the biggest way I've grown in my entire life.

#if you can't tell i feel like i am bad right now because this chapter was a half-assed afterthought in my outline lol #i mean obviously i don't feel like i am BAD at writing #i just know that the good parts come at the end of the process #and it's something that you constantly grow in #like my writing now is so different than my writing 10 years ago in the best way #idk deciding to write a book this year was so weird but i am really glad i'm finally doing it #i've always been so scared of writing original fiction because it's just such a vulnerable thing (for me)#(and i'm sure other people but yeah you know what i mean)#don't get me wrong i am INCREDIBLY satisfied with some of these first draft scenes #but there are chapters that i know have to exist and to make them better i have to fix some of my world building #but i can't figure out where i need to fix the thing until it's written because i can't see it when it's just in my head #personal

my niece is staying with us for the whole weekend for the first time. until now it's always been one night only, not two.

it's the second night now and I have already decided this is not happening again anytime soon. I'm so fucking exhausted. it'd be less exhausting if it was my nephew, I think - he's older and also doesn't need as much help (even when he was her age).

I love my niece but she just asks so many questions. like when we're watching a show or a movie, even if it's one she has seen before (even multiple times), she doesn't understand what's going on and constantly asks me to explain everything. I don't mind it, really, but it does take a lot of energy. plus tonight it took over two hours for her to fall asleep because she was scared by the noises of the house and the nearby road. I get it, but damn I'm so fucking tired, I just want to sleep 😭

#my nephew will get to stay for two nights soon so that it's fair and everything #but then I think we'll go back to one night only for a while #I just can't sleep when someone else is here. and I do not handle being tired well. or rather being even more tired than usual #so yeah no this is too much #I'm so glad I don't have children. I literally would not survive #we played board games with her today. her idea. she chose the gsme #but it was so fucking difficult.....#I think most kids would have understood this game at like. 10 maybe. probably before that really #she's 12 and a half and just did not get it at all #she's got difficulties learning and she's finally getting (more) help for that in school now but I'm really.. a bit shocked that it took #this long for her parents to accept that #she's a great kid but it's been obvious since she started school that she needs more help #so anyway yeah it's 3am and I think she finally fell asleep after I put Charmed on for her #I've got a massive headache and I'm so fucking tired I feel like I'm losing my mind lol #couldn't sleep last night & I hope it's better tonight. but having someone else here is stressful.#ugh I wish this wasn't so hard for me. I want to be the fun aunt (I'm their only aunt.. aunt-like person... whatever) but I know I get more #and more impatient when they're here. I hate that. but I can't change it. I've tried! for 10 years! but it didn't work #don't get me wrong - I'm never mean or angry with them.
