I know I mentioned it in that percethan rb but I wanted to elaborate on why I think Ethan would have been more effective if he was friends with Percy before he joined the TA. I might have already made a post about this before but I can't remember so we're doing it again. (putting it under the cut because it ended up being a lot longer than I meant, oops)
First of all, depending on whether or not you believe Ethan found out Nemesis was his mother when he lost his eye and ran away, having Ethan as one of the protagonists early on would either make him an unclaimed protagonist or a minor god's child protagonist. We don't get any unclaimed protagonists for more than some of a book and there are no significant protagonists who are children of minor gods. This distances the audience from the struggles and goals of many members of the Titan Army because we don't know anyone who has those struggles or goals. Having Ethan as a protagonist would make their cause much more sympathetic to the audience and it would play into the disability themes of the series. Some disabled people have greater needs than others, or have comparable needs that just aren't being met by the systems in place. Characters like Percy and Annabeth have it relatively good considering they're children of Olympians who get their own cabins, but having an unclaimed protagonist or the child of a minor god would highlight the disparity between claimed children of the Olympians and those who aren't as fortunate. This struggle only exists in the abstract for the audience because we never really see it for more than a couple of chapters in the first book. Having a protagonist who is actively living through it would give it so much more weight and make it feel more like an actual tangible problem.
Also, whether he's claimed or unclaimed Ethan would be in the Hermes cabin at this point and I think it would be fascinating to explore what the cabin was like in the immediate aftermath of Luke's betrayal. We know Luke was integral to the social landscape of camp but nowhere was his presence more impactful than in the cabin he was running. We don't get much about the state of the cabin from the Stolls because it isn't in character for them to visibly dwell on it but it would be perfectly in character for Ethan to do so. He would be a great lens through which to see the fallout of Luke's actions and how the campers who stayed behind felt about them.
All the characters who join the Titan Army have either already joined by the time the audience gets to know them or they've already decided to join and are in the process of doing that. It would have been really cool to take a character that the audience knows as a friend to the protagonist and see them grapple with what Luke has done/is doing and ultimately decide that they stand to benefit more from joining the enemy than sticking with their friends. It makes Luke/Kronos's growing influence on the demigods feel more insidious because we actively see it ensare one of the protagonists and turn them into an antagonist. We get told that Luke is charming and manipulative and that so many demigods are getting caught up in his lies and end up joining the army but we never really see it happening in real time. We get Silena, yes, but by the time she reveals this, she's already decided she no longer sides with Luke and is only still working for him because he's blackmailing her.
But my favourite reason that I wish Ethan had been friends with Percy before joining the TA is this: Percy's fatal flaw is loyalty. The whole reason it's a flaw is the looming threat that Percy would sacrifice the world for those he's close to. However, his flaw never gets to be fatal because he's never really in a position where he needs to choose between the greater good and the people he loves. Ethan would have solved this problem. It would have made Percy sparing him in the labyrinth a much more weighty and foreboding decision.
Because in that moment, Percy knows Ethan is trying to join Kronos, and knows that he's willing to kill him in order to do that. Percy knows that the more people who join the army, the more enemies he will have, and the closer Kronos will come to being revived. But Ethan is his friend, so Percy doesn't care about that. He isn't going to kill his friend. And that comes back to bite him in the form of Ethan being the individual who actually revives Kronos. Ethan is also the one who captures Beckendorf and stabs Annabeth. In this case, Percy choosing to spare his friend's life has actual consequences for him, including the death of another friend.
Another reason this would have been great is because Ethan sort of acts as a foil to Percy. Ethan also chose personal loyalty over the rest of the world. Ethan joined the army because his mother asked him to. Everything Ethan does is for his mother's sake and his devotion to her cause blinds him to the collateral damage and the destruction he's causing. The climax at the end, when Ethan attacks Kronos, is him doing the opposite of what got them in this situation. He sacrifices personal loyalty to his mother in order to serve the greater good.
However, if Ethan and Percy had been friends before his heel-turn, that flips his betrayal of Kronos upside down. It becomes him putting his personal loyalty to Percy over the world his mother and Kronos promised him. In this way, not only does Percy see himself and his flaws reflected in Ethan, he is also rewarded for choosing Ethan (and by extension his friends and family) over the idea of the 'greater good' that the gods keep feeding him.

Trust me my fixation on injuries is the least of your worries. It's just the autism mixing with being a child of apollo. I could be fixating on something much more dangerous. Like chemistry or something
- @rebecca-childofapollo / @asthma-dream
Chris: Mix those substances, make them go boom, hell yeah!
Ethan: Let’s not.
Alabaster: Don’t give me ideas.
Ethan: What are we even talking about!?
Silena: Injuries?
Chris: Explosions!
Alabaster: Autism.

Ethan sleeps with a dagger under his pillow. He’s never really used it, though, until one night, he’s shocked awake by a strange stripe of icy heat on his shoulder.
“Whoa!” Travis throws up his hands in defense. “It’s just me.”
Ethan yanks the knife away from Travis’ throat.
“The hell are you doing?” he grumbles. “I could’ve killed you!”
Travis shrugs, rubbing the patch of camphor and menthol into Ethan’s skin. “Mr. D’s letting it snow again this Christmas, starting from today,” he softly says. “I know the pain gets worse when it’s cold.”
At Travis’ side, there’s a small stockpile of Salonpas and warm compresses. No doubt his boyfriend went on a shoplifting spree from the camp store. All to soothe Ethan’s injuries from when Kronos pitched him off Olympus.
“You’re such a mother hen,” Ethan sighs, already pulling him down into bed with him. What better way to warm up, right?
“So scandalous, E. What if the harpies catch us?” Travis teases.
They fit like jigsaw pieces, Travis’ lanky limbs stretching over Ethan’s form.
Ethan can’t believe he gets a second chance.
“Fuck the harpies.”

An excerpt of Ethan Nakamura’s audio log - July 5th, 10:02pm, Princess Andromeda
I messed up. This was a mistake. This shouldn’t have happened.
[A shaky breath is just barely caught in the recording]
She shouldn’t be here. I don’t know why I brought her here,it was a mistake, a lapse in judgement, a— No, I know what it was.
An indulgence.
[Quiet laughter lasts for a beat before fading into a sigh]
Oh, isn’t that just fucking pathetic, poor Ethan makes a friend and suddenly he gets distracted from the goal. Gods, what is wrong with me? I’m not supposed to be like this, I’m better than this, I was made to be.
I don’t know much about Morpheus, I don’t know that much about any of the so-called minor gods here, I suppose I could see if mo— no, I need to solve my own problems. I could see if Alabaster could give me some help.
It's nice that I get to see Alabaster again, that was a welcome surprise. I don’t think he should’ve helped me and Rachel, he’s got enough to deal with already. I do hope he and Rachel could become friends, it would make this easier.
[Another shaky breath is heard]
Deep breaths, Ethan. Trust your instincts, just like you always have.
She’s got a plan for you.
End of log for this date.

I got the vibes you're not that much into shipping however, if you had to pick some ships for all 5 TA members what would they be?
Tbh I am acctualy a fairly big multishipper in most other fandoms I'm in! With multiple pairings between multiple different characters. Unfortunatly the PJO fandom just murdered any will to engage in anything but the occasional surface level shipping things with them.
But if I had to choose I'd probably pair up Ethan and Alabaster, Silena and Beckendorf, Chris and Clarisse aswell as Luke and some god forsaken therapy.

now i’m just thinking of the spoils of war verse, in which annabeth has to put on the same shows as percy. ethan feels so much bitterness towards her, he wanted to be her & now he wants to own her. there’s a certain mourning within his arrangements, how he teases luke with which bra to put her in, tipping the scales of his morality with how much he wants to ruin her alongside luke.

Ethan struggles the most during their lessons, but when Miranda is kidnapped to Tartarus by an army of demons during their final lesson, her worst student leads her rescue mission, but finally masters his lycon powers along the way

Not including Alison because I don't think she'd fit nor any of the ta gods/titans because there's enough of them for their own poll

Ethan Nakamura and Alabaster C. Torrington ship playlist, with songs that cover pining, dating, and even potentially breaking up, feeling bitter about what happened after the Titan War. 60 songs, shuffle encouraged, subject to additions or subtractions in the future

I think Ethan's father could have been a kitsune.
Percy and Ethan are talking about the war. Percy is desperately trying to bring Ethan back to camp. When a fox shows up and starts nudging Ethan into Percy.
The fox does it insistently.
Ethan gets incredibly embarrassed and yaps at the fox. It’s undeniably a fox yap.
Percy gets very confused. “Friend of yours?”
Ethan is a shade a scarlet and Percy can’t tell if it’s from frustration or embarrassment. “No…”
The fox then gets tired and shifts into a human with the same nose as Ethan. “Ethan Nakamura you better go with him. I don’t care what your mother says. You’re not fighting the gods! She took your eye for goodness sake!”
“Dad! It’s more complicated than that!”
Percy just stand there awkwardly. “Uhh I am going to guess you’re Mr Nakamura?”
“Yes it’s nice to meet you. I’m sorry for my son. Ethan fox form now young man.”
Ethan reluctantly turns into a tiny little red fox with a graying tail. Mr Nakamura scoops him up. “I’ll deal with him. Thank you for trying to get him to do the right thing.”
“Uh sure? I’m gonna be honest I’m so confused.”
“Don’t worry about it kid. Not your pantheon not your problem.”
Mr Nakamura then turns back into a fox and carries little kit Ethan in his mouth.

Weekly check up
Any injuries?
- @rebecca-childofapollo / @asthma-dream
Silena: This fixation you have on injuries seems pretty worrying. We’ll tell you if anything happens, thanks for the concern!
Alabaster: I demand some colorful band-aids for scientific reasons.
Ethan: Papercut?
Alabaster: Papercut.

how did ethan become al's lieutenant? was his kingdom also taken over?
Nemesis was Hecate's head of the Royal guard! So Ethan was in the palace a lot as a kid (and saw Al around too)
Then he kind of rose through the ranks after he joined Epirus's armies and became Als second in command.

Y’know I’ve been wondering something. And I had to ask you this but
Considering that Ethan wanted his mother to be just as known as the other olympians, had his eye removed as a sign of I guess respect to his mother- had the case been that Luke knew about it (which is quite possible)
Do you think that Luke, even if he hates the gods so much, made an ‘exception’ for Nemesis or at least tried to hold back just for Ethan?
Personally I always assumed Luke knew about it, but wouldn't have been able to do anything about it considering how Nemesis is their ally.
As much as he may hate the gods (all of them, if you ask me), we will have to remember that he is the head of an active revolutionary force going against literal deities. He can't afford to lose a valuable ally in Nemisis. It's a classic case of "I do not like you, but I like this other guy even less so we have to suck it up ig". So yes, I do think Luke "made an expectation" for Nemesis in the sense that he did not directly fight against her or was overly hostile. Not for Ethan but simply for tactics and strategy.
Said it once and I'll say it again- you can't ignore Luke's position and the fact that revolutions are never a clean affair. The guy has to be smart about this.
