During the final battle not only does Sephiroth kill Cloud’s friends, but he also ends up killing Cloud. Sephiroth tries to revive Cloud but despite his best efforts he fails and Cloud stays dead. Meteor then hits the planet and everyone but Sephiroth dies. But Sephiroth doesn’t care about that, all he cares about is Cloud and what he can do to bring him back. Sephiroth does becomes a god but he uses his new power to restore planet, and once it’s restored he waits for Cloud to be reborn and when the time is right Sephiroth will go get him and they can finally be together forever. Hundreds or even thousands of years have past and the world is somewhat the same has it had been before Meteor, expect everyone worships Sephiroth as their god. There are many, many paintings and statues of him and even his Safer form, some of which are more accurate than others, and there are even different stories people have of their god, again some more accurate than others. Cloud has always had a weird feeling he can’t explain anytime he looks at any of the paintings and statues of and hears any of the stories about Sephiroth, especially the more accurate ones. Growing up even when he know he’s was alone Cloud has always had this feeling that somebody is watching him.

Okay I love this idea. Especially if perhaps Cloud killed himself in order to try to stop Sephiroth from having him. Maybe he purposely didn't block an attack, wanting to join his friends when it became clear he had no chance of winning.

Now if I can just make this idea a little more evil? When Sephiroth finally reveals himself to the reborn Cloud and tries to jog his memories so they can finally be together, Cloud rejects him. Based on the bits of his past life, reborn Cloud (or should I say Rebirth Cloud??? No. That's a bad joke.) has no interest in being with Sephiroth. So Cloud takes his life (again) to stop Sephiroth from having him.

Thus begins a cycle. Every hundred years or so, Cloud is reborn. Everytime, Sephiroth takes a new approach to trying to claim Cloud for himself and preventing Cloud from dying. And everytime, Cloud slips through his grasp right before he can achieve his victory.

Whenever I see someone who is not Brazilian using this gif I wonder if they know that it is from a Brazilian soapopera from the 2000s called senhora do destino (mistress of destiny) that has a chokehold on pop culture to this day

This character is the villain of the story, who steals a baby from another woman and raises the kid as her own. She kills a bunch of people usually by pushing them down the stairs or with scissors and this scene from the meme is her slowly going mad when she realizes she’s getting her comeuppance and going to prison. It is a tragic story but she is a meme because she is stereotypically evil and has lines that are comical and are memes 20 years later such as seeing a gay couple and going “dykes… I can smell the leather from afar”
