I do think thor is being honest about how he thought the world of loki, but never enough to really look, to truly see his brother. never cared enough to dig deeper. and the mistakes loki made have just made it easier for thor to further ignore the deeper problems with his brother. you can love someone dearly, but still never truly see them. I wonder if knowing of thor's love makes it better or worse for loki. to be so loved, but for it to still not be enough to have been seen, to have been helped at all. or easier for it to be a lie and never loved at all, for it makes more sense to loki, because if you loved him why would you never dig deeper? why could you not see what was wrong? what was being done to him? how he felt? maybe that's why he was so adamant in the past, brushing thor's words away because otherwise that would mean even then it just wasnt enough. and it's more familiar to him too. the feeling he sits in, the knowledge that he's not loved or understood, that those around him think so little of him. and sometimes familiarity is easier than taking a new and brighter path.

he could be more. but it's hard to do that when everyone around you sees the worst in you and your stuck in a shadow your entire life. ignored. it's why I love mobius so much. he sees what others don't in loki and actually pushes him to be better and is there for him. mobius is truly the number one loki apologist.

So my sister sent me a tiktok of Loki and Thor and it brought to my attention that brothers with complicated relationships who would do anything for each other but pretend they wouldn’t have been fucking me up since I was a kid.

Also only just now realizing just how directly the black brothers and the asguard brothers parallel each other? Like in their mannerisms, storyline-ish, and even color scheme? Maybe not so much in their storyline bc Sirius was never the perfect son, but def in that regulus always tried to be exactly what his parents wanted and was always “the perfect son” but they still wanted Sirius bc he was the oldest and they never paid attention to reg until Sirius left?? Also in their relationship. Like very much awkwardly standing next to each other and going “why are you dressed like a 1900’s witch.��� And reg being so absolutely offended and being like “I dress better than you, all you ever wear is that obnoxious red” and Sirius teasing him for wearing all black. They would be so awkward but they care about each other so much. Also regulus and Loki are sooooo parallels bc Loki was the bad guy for so long but he changed at the end and died doing what was right and Thor was left with nothing <3 I haven’t rewatched the avengers movies in so so long but these are just….. thoughts

||. thor is always such a fun character for me to think about – not only because of his place in the mcu, but because of his dynamics and relationship with his brother and asgardian crew too. there's SO MUCH potential in a character like thor. just with his past alone, there are so many stories of high-flying adventures and lessons of leadership and courage and bravery and teamwork. just with his asgardian squad, there are so many classic friendship lessons about honesty, camaraderie, loyalty, generosity, kindness, etc. as he + crew learn and grow as people.... then there's the exploration of him and his people (and his family: namely his brother and his father) as he slowly learns what it means, and what it takes to be a king, and as he figures out his own way to go about it... and the pitfalls of all of that as he DOES grow, but he also grows into the very insecure person that he is in the beginning of THOR (2011)....

thor during phases 1-3 of the mcu is absolutely so neat... but thinking about him before 2011 is just fascinating to me.
