OH YEAH and another book casually dropping in the fact that Honor Lisle's husband was Henry VIII's uncle and me having to stop right there and google something because how the fuck has he suddenly got an uncle where did this guy come from? his dad is famously an only child and his mum is even more famously lacking in brothers because of her uncle so i need an explaination for this right the fuck now. oh he's an illegitimate child of edward iv. well fair enough who isn't? The ones who rant on and on about Doctor Who's budget always sound like they haven't the first clue about how a tv production works and assume the bulk of the budget always goes to VFX and everything else is inexpensive. They always think they know more than the experienced professionals in how things work and cost and also there's always too much CGI and it needs to go back to being just practical VFX like during RTD1.

Give it 20 years and almost certainly people will look back on RTD2 and laugh about how bad the VFX are.

Something I find incredibly cool is that they’ve found neandertal bone tools made from polished rib bones, and they couldn’t figure out what they were for for the life of them. 

Until, of course, they showed it to a traditional leatherworker and she took one look at it and said “Oh yeah sure that’s a leather burnisher, you use it to close the pores of leather and work oil into the hide to make it waterproof. Mine looks just the same.”

“Well, yeah. We’ve tried other things. Metal scratches up and damages the hide. Wood splinters and wears out. Bone lasts forever and gives the best polish. There are new, cheaper plastic ones, but they crack and break after a couple years. A bone polisher is nearly indestructible, and only gets better with age. The more you use a bone polisher the better it works.”

Ahem I think you mean "sifki invent bdsm (lol)" - the lol is a crucial part of the name! (It is not.)

To be honest I kind of forgot where I was going with that one, but it is Loki/Sif and they are doing some kind of kink thing but this is Asgard so they don't know all the rules that we learned from fanfiction and ways of such things so they have to make it up as they go along. And actually the kink element means I will probably not ever manage to write it, as that stuff is difficult for me to write seriously for some reason. A shame :'(
