Canon Divergence AU where after falling into space at the end of the first Thor movie Loki did not turn up in a later film, so Thor hasn't seen him in years and assumes he must be dead (😭), but while Thor's on Earth with his Avengers mates (obviously in this timeline he joined them for some other initial reason, shhh) he spots his brother on TV, being interviewed because he's a very famous stage magician. Really famous! The Avengers have all heard of him but they'd just never made the connection between an apparently human magician called Loki The Magnificent and the tragically presumed-dead brother that Thor's probably been extremely vague about.

In fact they don't believe it at first, gently explaining to Thor that this guy might look like his brother and have the same name but there's videos online where people have spotted him cheating at magic, and surely an actual alien mage wouldn't need to do that? But Thor is right, those videos actually show the illusions Loki uses to make it look fake, because if the humans work out that you're an alien who can do magic they will vivisect you. (Phil Coulson is still alive, btw, having not been murdered by Loki in the first Avengers movie. So yay for him I suppose.)

So Thor demands to be taken to HOLLYWOOD where he finds his brother and they reunite heartwarmingly (maybe???) and then Thor say don't worry bro, I know you've had to do shit magic tricks to survive but I will take you home now like a pretty damsel in need of rescue by a handsome and very strong prince. But! Loki doesn't want to go home! Thor, you idiot, the humans LOVE Loki The Magnificent! They keep asking him to sign things and to pull coins out of their ears! Why would he ever go home, this is way better than being King of Asgard would have been, because humans are so friendly and so easily impressed!

I don't know what happens in the end. Incest, probably.

But wow what an amazing fic I haven't written with this plot!!!
