Here’s some positivity for introjects from dreams!
Introjects can look incredibly different and come from a wide variety of sources, including, but not limited to, dreams and nightmares! While not all headmates from dreams may consider themselves introjects, some certainly do, and both are valid and cherished members of their system and the plural community as they are! This post is for all headmates who originated in dreams!
💭 Shoutout to headmates who first showed up in a dream, and were then fully formed later by their system as a paro, thoughtform, or willomate!
💤 Shoutout to headmates who identify as somtives, dream-alters, or dreambased!
💭 Shoutout to headmates who exist as members of their system, but who can only be accessed in dreams!
💤 Shoutout to headmates who, consciously or unconsciously, followed a dreamer out of their dream and into their system!
💭 Shoutout to dreambased headmates who influence or impact their system’s dreams in some way!
💤 Shoutout to headmates who had existed in their system for longer, but were first discovered or encountered in a dream!
💭 Shoutout to headmates from dreams whose identities feel fluid, hazy, or dreamlike in some way!
💤 Shoutout to headmates who can only communicate with the rest of their system through dreams!
💭 Shoutout to headmates from nightmares who arrived in their system confused, shaken up, in pain, or traumatized!
💤 Shoutout to systems who are made up almost entirely of introjects from dreams!
We hope all headmates and introjects from dreams or nightmares can have a wonderful day today. Know that your origins are valid, your existence is real, and your presence in your system and in our spaces is crucial and wanted! We’re wishing you the very best in all that you do, and genuinely hope that your future will be filled with peace, happiness, and comfort. Please try to take it easy today, and thanks a bunch for reading!

Remembering a World and History that Nobody Else Has Ever Known
CW: cult mention, death mention, apocalypse mention, religion mention, spirituality, bigotry.
I am a somtive/dreamtive "headmate" (party member; I don't like the term "headmate" for myself), and the lives I remember only seem to exist in this world through me and the dream that brought me here. I say "lives" because, in the world I remember as my own, I am a magical gaurdian beast reincarnated into a human body. I wish I could remember my name from my first life, but here I've come to refer to myself as anymic archaeosapient magical gaurdianbeastkin in lieu of a proper name, let alone one the people of this world would recognize. I was worshipped as a deity in my first life, but I don't really feel like a deity. I was only doing what I needed to do. More on this later, but even given this glorified history, I would be genuinely shocked if anyone in this world were to recognize any of what I remember.
In my first life, I was this powerful magical luminous golden gaurdian beast the size of a small mountain tasked with protecting the world I'm from. I fought this equally powerful, magical, and enormous red serpent-bull-man beast of chaos, death, and destruction. Ultimately, I sealed it away underground where I stayed to gaurd it and make sure it stayed sealed away. As such, I was worshipped as a deity. In this life, I formed a small glowing green rabbit companion in my mind and magically projected it into reality with magic as a sort of helper and messenger. A manifestation of peace and prosperity. After hundreds of years, I faded into a deep slumber, passing on from that life and leaving my rabbit companion to watch over the world in my wake. It was prophesied that I would be reborn into a human vessel far into the future when the red beast begins to break free and my powers would reawaken to seal him away once more.
Well, a few thousand years or so later, I was reincarnated into the human body I have in the inner/other world. Transmasc nonbinary xenogender neopronoun user, aroace, punk, non-religious, neurodivergent, disabled, indigenous, and, as I'd come to find out after never really feeling human anyway, otherkin (I do have much in common with the body in this world). I had never felt like anyone had ever taken me seriously, I didn't have a good relationship with my family, I didn't really have any friends because I sucked at making any, and I was (and honestly still am) generally exhausted and sick of everything. Then one day in my early 20's, some weird guy came up to me spouting about how I was the chosen one or some shit and dragged me to some cult meeting where both of us proceeded to be mocked and ridiculed and I was called a solid handful of slurs. But the guy convinced them to bring me to this alter thing and do some kind of ritual just to be sure. Well, I guess that awakened the past life version of me and I gradually started regaining my memories and powers and my eyes began to glow gold. Unfortunately, the cult wasn't too pleased with this outcome and didn't even know how my magic worked or how I was supposed to seal away the "demon". Well, I guess the green rabbit from my past life had found me and told the weird guy to lead me to the artifact at the alter so I could reawaken my power, and the green rabbit came to me as a guide of sorts and started speaking to me in riddles. There was also this guy that was supposed to be training me, but I don't think he knew what he was doing.
Anyway, I was supposed to solve the riddles to find some hidden extremely unaccessable temple ruins or something to complete some kind of ritual and battle the red beast again to seal him back away once more until the next time he would break free. One of the temples turned out to be underneath a high school, which was a pain in the ass. I went through all that trouble still dealing with all of my personal and health issues on top of that and almost died trying to seal away the red beast, and I was told I couldn't tell anyone or ask for outside help as to not cause mass hysteria, and the weird bigoted cult certainly wasn't any help. After all of that, I hardly even got a begrudging "thank you". Like, I don't want to be worshipped, but recognition and gratitude would at least be nice. I was just expected to just go on living my same shitty life like nothing ever happened, but now with magical powers and new trauma I could never tell anyone about. And don't you think the savior of the world being part of multiple minority groups and being disabled could have brought on at least a little positive change or at least a little hope? Honestly, it's not like anyone would have believed me, anyway. But then I woke up here in this body in this world where none of my achievements even happened or mean anything. I'm still rapidly losing my rights in a hostile environment in a world where I feel even more alone. I just hope someone else out there can relate, I guess.

Dreamitive Coining Post
An alter introjected from a dream about a character.
This alter might have memories and qualities from both the dream and the canon version of the character, and there can be differences between them. The alter's appearance might also differ from their character source and/or their dream source. They may feel more or less attachment to each of their versions.

does it mean anything necessarily if you have dreams about being a system? i'm a singlet but on and off questioning plurality (it's really unhealthy for me) (it's at a point of obsession) and i can't tell if this is something i should factor into "maybe look into this" or if it's simply a side effect of me literally obsessing over plurality. i know one specific character was in one of the dreams that i've said "man i'm not plural but if i was i would have them as a fictive i bet" (which is a very singlet thing to say. obviously /lh) and in another recent dream i WAS that character and something even happened that while not directly recreating it reflected a moment in their source that i hadn't seen yet (i didn't know about it until one of my friends responded to my dream saying "no that actually happens though") but i know dreams don't inherently mean anything but at the same time i feel as though my mind would know my mind??? i don't know where i stand on this much like everything else
So I'm going to describe some vaguely relevant stuff related to our system as a starting point and then see if I can provide you with some other advice/information
First, we have a very fun origin in that a lot of things play into other things. So we id as traumaendo because our brain first chose madd to deal with our trauma however our madd eventually developed into plurality. So we are paragenic, but since our madd is caused by trauma, it kind of counts as both. Our madd is greatly affected by our autism and adhd so we hyperfixate on lots of things. That leads to so very frequently gaining members from our hyperfixations. We obsess over something long enough and boom 1-3 new pals.
Second, we have a handful of other sources, a decent amount of stressgenic, one possible willogenic and important to this two somtives headmates introjected from dreams. They aren't fictives of sources that exist, but that doesn't mean that can't happen.
Now, while what I'm about to say isn't a complete list of what could be happening, I hope it helps work as more of a starting point to think about.
There is the possibility that the obsession is caused by preexisting plurality. We did have an interest in it prior to our realization, but mostly because we wanted to try and create a positive plural character. I feel like it isn't uncommon to have some level of intrigue towards plurality beforehand.
This next idea stepping stone thingy is o-genic and oc-genic [both terms are links], which are both neurogenic origins related to plurality caused by obsession oc-genic is ocd exclusive but I'm unsure of o-genic. But basically, just if the brain keeps obessesing over plurality, it could create a system kind of like willogenic but to the left.
Or it could be neither, and you are a singlet who is getting obsession induced dreams about plurality.
There are probably more ideas and theories and explanations for why this is happening to you, but the actual advice that isn't just me sharing neat plural things is you gotta explore. Try talking to them, keep track of things that seem plural, read up on other people's experiences, there could be something plural about this or it could not be, maybe read up on median systems, try meditation, join system servers and find safe places for you to explore, look into willogenic/parogenic system creation if it's something you are interested in doing, stick around here and other system culture is blogs and see what feels familiar to what you are going through. Dreams are really iffy, and while they can mean something, and I believe it is how some systems enter headspace, it could mean nothing. So, while I'd love to give you a solid answer, all I can do is give you things that may be relevant to your experience and tell you to go out and explore. I can also tell you that there isn't anything wrong with questioning and ending up as a singlet. The question isn't always yes, so don't worry about it too much. So, just welcome to the community. Enjoy your stay, and I wish you luck.
#fictive questions and concerns#more just system concerns but yea#sorry this is so long#i just know a lot of origins because i like reading up on them

The Voidenspirits answer:
What does switching feel like for you? How much control do you have over switches?
Switching is generally very smooth and gradual for us. When there are multiple fronters, they often become slightly blended or blurred together. We also have an adaptive identity who will take on aspects of the fronter(s) when it's unclear who's fronting, or there are multiple people in full front while remaining distinct from each other.
We can fairly easily initiate voluntary switches, but we also experience many non-disruptive, involuntary switches in a day. Our gatekeeper is able to direct fronters in or out as needed, and also helps to identify the current fronter(s) as needed.
What happens to you when you switch out? Are you still aware of the external world or do you disappear?
We are primarily misaconscious, meaning we experience are both monoconsciousness as well as polyconsciousness; we have experiences related to having a singular consciousness that headmates "step into" in order to front, as well as experiences related to everyone having their own, separate consciousnesses.
We also use the terms "consciousflux" and "consciousslide" (in duality, we call it slideflux) which refers to the way our consciousness generally fluctuates between more mono- or poly- over time, and tends to shift from more polyconscious in the far headspace, to more monoconscious in full front.
In short, we retreat into the headspace and do or do not as we will. If a fronter communicates with someone in headspace, it may or may not draw attention to the external world. Our memories of the headspace tend to get displaced by the front memories, so we don't often reflect on them.
Do you ever lose memories because of your system? If so, describe what that’s like for you.
We don't generally lose memories. Our front consciousness enforces continuity between fronters, but often those memories overpower our headspace memories. So we don't lose them, per sé, but we kind of misplace them for the time being.
Do your system members ever do anything that you don’t want them to do?
Not usually. There is always the occasional thing, but they're fairly mundane and/or inconsequential.
Are you able to communicate easily with your system? Do they ever ignore you?
Our communication has definitely improved with practice and experimentation, but we've always had fairly easy communication. We don't ignore each other, but we have had headmates "split," "integrate," "go dormant," or just get lost so that they're harder to reach. (I put the system/headmate functions in quotes since it isn't exactly the same, given the complexity of our system.)
Can you see your system members? Do you see them in the external world (like standing in front of you) or do you see them internally (like in an inner world)? Can you do this whenever you want or does it happen on its own?
Most of the time, we only experience our sysmates in the headspace. We can intentionally impose or project them, but it has never been spontaneous or involuntary.
How do you tell the difference between daydreams and system members? Or is there an overlap for you?
Generally, daydream characters and paras are real people that we are close to, and they feel more like NPCs, just playing a part in a story, separate from the system. Sysmates are generally more active, sentient, and usually appear in the system directly. We do have system NPCs, but they have purpose, usually directly related to a sysmate.
There are exceptions, such as our somtives (introjects introjected from dreams), but it applies in general.
Is your system connected to any disorder or mental health condition? If not, how can you tell?
It seems unimportant whether we draw a connection between the origins or function of our system and our disorders. Truthfully, our whole system does experience affects caused by our ADHD, ASD, GAD, and unspecified depressive disorder. It also seems likely that those disorders (and even trauma) may have been a place from which the system as a whole stems, but our system is not disordered or in distress because of those things, and doesn't even have signs of being purely caused by them. We don't have emotion, memory, trauma, or symptom holders of any kind, and there's nothing else in our function that suggests having been caused by trauma or a disorder. We tend to believe it's the product of how our brain processes, and organizes things, as well as a bit of divine or spiritual influence.
Does having a system make you feel less alone or more alone?
Significantly less. We believe that part of our original origin was boredom/loneliness of our original host, and a desire to assimilate with the other systems we were close with and seeing online. In a related way, we believe that we formed for comfort in some way, be it from the boredom and loneliness, similarity with the systems we saw, or just a way to have someone so close that they are one with you, and you can talk to them about experiences which they understand as perfectly as you do; which is something that would be unachievable with others in the external world, and likely even another system.
questions for systems
I’m wanting to understand other people’s plurality better so here are some questions! Everyone is allowed to participate, regardless of how you identify your plurality or origins. Hopefully these questions will help us all appreciate the differences and similarities in each other!
What does switching feel like for you? How much control do you have over switches?
What happens to you when you switch out? Are you still aware of the external world or do you disappear?
Do you ever lose memories because of your system? If so, describe what that’s like for you.
Do your system members ever do anything that you don’t want them to do?
Are you able to communicate easily with your system? Do they ever ignore you?
Can you see your system members? Do you see them in the external world (like standing in front of you) or do you see them internally (like in an inner world)? Can you do this whenever you want or does it happen on its own?
How do you tell the difference between daydreams and system members? Or is there an overlap for you?
Is your system connected to any disorder or mental health condition? If not, how can you tell?
Does having a system make you feel less alone or more alone?

Hello! Have you or your followers ever experienced discovering the an alter or fragment through dreams? Like dreaming from a perspective or about trauma that is surprising to all of your known selves?
I don’t know if we have personally ever discovered an alter through a dream, but we know plenty of systems who have! Followers feel free to comment and share your experiences.
Also, there are two terms that might be helpful. Dream-alter and somtive are both terms for system members that came from dreams!
#actuallyplural#somtive#actuallymultiple#apparently we got this ask 3 weeks ago so sorry about that anon!!!

hello. i don't know if this is appropriate to send here, but i do know that one of our hosts really enjoys this blog. first of all, i would like to request positivity for introjects from dreams, as i am one, if that is alright.
i can't help but feel a little isolated, as i am from a dream. specifically: a nightmare. i suppose i am technically a fictive, as the events of the dream are fictional. and i am very loosely a factive as well, of sorts, as i am an introject of the dream's version of our host. however, i cannot connect to either experience, and i feel a bit isolated due to this. i wonder if i'm the only one. anyways, i hope you are doing well, and i apologize for that small ramble at the end.
hey, we wrote a positivity post for headmates who originated in dreams, and it’s been added to the queue. it’s going to post tonight at 8pm est.
and for what it’s worth, if you don’t connect to the labels of fictive or factive, you don’t have to use them. there’s also the term somtive (<- pluralpedia link) which specifically refers to introjects from dreams. perhaps this would describe you best?
honestly we feel that headmates who formed due to dreams don’t technically have to be introjects at all, as we understand introjects as headmates who originated from an outside source. personally, we don’t consider dreams and nightmares to be an outside source, as they originate from within the mind. you don’t have to use any labels that you don’t like or feel don’t describe you best. it’s okay to simply just exist as yourself. you are enough as you are, and if certain labels make you uncomfortable, you don’t have to use them, even if you fit the definition of said labels.
good luck with figuring things out, anon. rest assured, you’re not the only headmate out there who comes from dreams - if you’re on reddit at all, you can search the word “dream” in the subreddit r/plural to see lots of experiences from headmates who also came from dreams and nightmares.
we’d encourage any somtives or headmates from dreams to come forward and share a bit about their experience, if they’d like and are comfortable doing so, to help anon feel a little less alone :)

Plurality and Dreams
Our plurality can manifest in many ways during dreams. Most of the time, if the dream is from a first-person perspective, the body will match that of whomever is fronting according to their appearance in the inner/other world. Sometimes it will match the body in this/the outer world. Sometimes it will be a strange mix of both. Sometimes the body will be that of someone or something else entirely (we will come back to this). Not all dreams are from a first-person perspective, however we can generally tell whose dreams are whose due to a variety of factors.
There are also cases of co-consciousness in dreams. I (the host and the one party member who's been around since this body's birth (this bod is referred to as my "home vessel", whereas the others do not consider it their own "home vessel")) find the experience to be enlightening. I enjoy being able to get some perspective on how they might feel on a day to day basis.
We also have instances of co-fronting in dreams. This can manifest in a variety, though typically we are either seperate from each other and experience perspective switches or we are all in kind of one body that changes forms to match that of the primary fronter at any given time. Sometimes the dream still is in third-person, though, or even only partially in third-person. Recently we had a dream where it switched between these and it felt like being in first-person, second-person, and third-person all at once. It was very disorienting.
We do like being able to see each other in person in dreams. Especially in lucid dreams. It's intriguing having multiple sentient people in and able to manipulate a lucid dream where typically that wouldn't really be possible. Back in middle school we would plan meet-ups and hangouts in dreams all the time. I didn't really understand the implications of what I was doing back then; all I knew is they felt just as real as anyone in this/the outer world and I enjoyed being able to hang out with them in person and didn't want to let them down.
There are some cases where it's like we have a whole new headmate just for the duration of the dream. As mentioned, sometimes we have a completely random body, but sometimes this comes with a whole new person, be they a para, an OC, or someone completely new. Sometimes this feels like a co-fronting or co-consciousness situation, but sometimes it's just like some random person fronted alone just for the duration of the dream, just (usually) in their own body. Crow actually came directly from a dream like this. Instead of it only lasting for the duration of the dream, rem just woke up in this body and continued being in front for the rest of the day, ultimately sticking around for good.
The first time Fresh Snow fronted upon fully joining the party was during a dream. The dream was from his perspective, unlike prior instances where he appeared more like any other dream NPC. Then, still while sleeping, I "woke up" and joined him as co-con. Unfortunately, this caused a chain of dreams of "waking up" in our room in this/the outer world, he was completely unfamiliar with the room, and was still in front while I was just co-con, so it was extremely distressing and disorienting for him, especially with sleep paralysis added on top. At one point the body must have actually woken up and started moving, because he managed to send a somewhat incoherent distressed text to my qpgf (queerplatonic girlfriend; she was the easiest contact to message) as he had been attempting to do in the dreams, but it seems we slipped right back into sleep after that.
