Coiner of the term, I made the term not to replace PCP more to live along side it.

I use the term to describe a personal experience being religious and spiritual not inherently being pagan in nature. Note this is my own veiwpoijts and reasonings of why I coined and use it. I did practice paganism in the past, but I found the I didn’t attach to the practice all too well and in end didn’t feel correct doing it, I was also raised up as Christian so I tend to use it as a “comparison” being I grew up with it. So this personally influences my practice, where I do things seen within both when it comes to praise, prayer, and overall feeling.

But anyways, I made the term to describe personal pratice someone may have. No matter how one May choose to practice it, while paganism is open ended with things there are still things commonly associated with it when it comes to practice. The term I made is meant to be a place for those who may want to practice a religion that relates to a fictional source but may not inherently attach to paeanistic practices (though it may still mattering the individual).

I have done a interview in the past(link) around the topic of ficto-religions but I’d be happy to explain anything in detail if need be. I want/have always wanted PCP and Neomythic folk to live along side within the practices in who they are. Even if there is overlap with eachother the two can be in harmony as two.

I have some thoughts about terms like 'neomythic' and 'fictoreligion' I wanted to share.

I need to preface with the fact that idrc if you use any of these terms for yourself, do whatever you want.

But my thoughts are along the lines of do we really need terms like that to describe PCP? First off all, 'neo' in 'neomythic' refers to 'new myths' which is fine, but in the grand scheme of things there will be a point when none of this stuff is new. And who's to say when that neo era ends? 100 years? 1,000 years?

And when you call it a 'fictoreligion' you're referring to the fact that it's based off a fictional source. But like, depending on your views that could be all religions. Even if you don't see already established religions as 'fictional,' people have always based religions on things around them. That's what PCPs are essentially doing today, they're basing a religion on what's around them (pop culture).

Plus when a new religion pops up most people aren't concerned where it falls under the grand scheme of religion. I've seen people equate it how Christianity is an umbrella term for different sects, which is fair, but most sects of established religions are based on an older version of Christianity/whatever the religion is. Which PCP isn't based on some older religion becoming a sect.

Idk I'm writing this as a stream of consciousness and not editing this a ton lol, and like I said, idc if you use the term for yourself, it doesn't effect me in the end, these are just some of my thoughts. Maybe I'll expand on this in the future when I have time (cause I have class soon lol)
