I have wanted to make mock-up pictures based upon the concept of "If the Lowmax story were a narrative-based adventure game" for the actual longest time... and I still haven't done it! Shocking. But perhaps Calvero Terranora: Global Tour is a step in the right direction, and this year I will realise that dream in all its unapologetically pathetic glory.

I think Agatha would be deeply conflicted about being asked to be an asset in a video game. On the one hand: finally, recognition! On the other hand: her natural inclination to immediately say no, go away to anything and anyone. Archie would be polite but wouldn't think about it again. Caleb would be chuffed as nuts, and hide it badly (if at all.)

The Vandermatthews family edition

When John was a teenager he made slime and got it in Dutch’s expensive Persian rug he keeps in the office. (Dutch was LIVID.)

Hosea reads late into the night, which caused Dutch to buy one of those clip on reading lights so he can finally sleep peacefully.

Dutch and Hosea do embarrassing dances in the kitchen/living spaces when the kids are around. Arthur and John cringe hard at this.

(This is an old idea I had for Quarians here, I just think Tali looks adorable in this old pic, lol).

Today's inktober word is 'Nomadic' and this made me think about Quarians in the game Mass Effect. And to my self-imposed horror, I realized I never bothered uploading my ideas for what they looked like back in the day. I went through a phase like that. I did lots of stuff back in 2010 and never really uploaded it...Possibly for the best, as it looks pretty rough in places now, but I did want to share some of my ideas before I upload my more current version from today.

I did at least upload my concepts for the Volus and the Raloi though (two other unseen races in game, one is coved up, and the latter just mentioned in other media). You can see them here:

Quarians are masked aliens in game and back in the day, I had to have my graphic settings turned WAY down in order to play mass effect. Have my low graphic crunchy Shepard

Because of that, I never saw the two glowing eyes or slightly human nose bridge reflection you can see in a normal setting. So I had in mind an alien species that somewhat resembled the Geth - a race of AI the Quarians themselves made:

So I was picturing something with one eye, armour and maybe even mandibles? So here is my first go:

BUT later on, when I played Mass Effect 2 on a better pc, I was disappointed that you could see a bit of a human face. No matter- I could still work with this.

MORE BELOW so I don't clog up your feed with ancient quarian debates I should have posted a decade ago, lol.

So I got to playing around with ideas, using my old ones. I mean- Quarians are mentioned to be attractive to Turians and later Javik mentions that ancient Quarins looked attractive. And they look like this:

So definitely not very human....right?

One thing I also noticed was that male Quarians have a flat nose compared to females, almost like a muzzle. (screenshots are mine, the model I downloaded back in the day and can no longer find a source sadly)

And that made me think about the sci-fi trope of cat people.

Seriously, these are just some of the books on my bookshelf that contain sci-fi cat people, and that's the ones I could find off the top of my head:

It makes sense; Mass Effect is a bit of an amalgamation of sci-fi tropes into new ideas. You have the insect race (Turains), Warring tank race (Krogun), the classic 'Grays' (Salarians), Animal-like with tentacles (Hanar), The 'sexy human female but a colour' (Asari). etc. etc. yadda yadda.

So I sat down and tried to design something that sort of encompassed all these ideas, Geth-like, attractive to Turians, Javik and maybe even humans...and a little bit of space cat thrown in.

So this was my first idea that I meant to upload back in 2012.

I think I wasn't happy with the body and I had meant to come back to it. I had over the next few years dabble din other sketches, even going back to the drawing board on the face.

I think what stopped me was the things we learned from Mass Effect 3. If you romance the Quarian Tali, you can see a photo of her face!...

...they were purple humans.

LAME.

But recently, The legendary edition took the critique on board and revamped the picture to the one on the right. Now they look ...even MORE human.

EVEN MORE LAAAAME.

Utter disappointment. Now I always knew that if Bioware revealed the Quarian face they would disappoint some people, but this was such a missed opportunity to design something unique. Bioware did they that they were worried if it was too alien, it would be hard for cosplayers to dress up? But come on, cosplayers love a challenge and will overcome anything. We knew they had two eyes and a nose bridge, it didn't have to be too alien, just alien enough.

TALI RAGE.

BUT the best answer is to REJECT CANNON.

@dandenbo asked me for the art asks: 🎠What is a typical 'workflow' for a piece from idea to finished? It turns out to be a long answer so here's its own post, under the cut to save your dash! How I go from screenshot to painting: (This is not intended to be a 'this is how you do it!' kind of guide. I absolutely don't do an optimal route, this is just how I go about painting and what works for me! I've done a workflow for a screenshot to painting as I do a few different things but this is one I could explain somewhat coherently. My comics tend to be created pretty chaotically lol)

1) I take an ungodly amount of screenshots while playing. Also pester friends for their screenshots or stalk the group discord for interesting shots.

2) Go through all those screenshots cursing why I took so many, looking for those great moments that I want to paint. I’m particularly looking for nice poses/captivating moments, dynamic lighting or interesting expressions, and they don’t need to have all 3 as we can fix some of that in the next step. Here’s the screenshot I chose for my Keahi x Thane piece:

It was a cute, soft moment between them and I liked the highlight at the edge of their profiles. 3) Refine the screenshot. I don’t use anything fancy for this. I game on windows PC, so I open up the screenshot with windows photo editor. I crop the image, play around with saturation, exposure, contrast, just basic editing until it looks tastier. For this piece I wanted it to be hyper colourful and vibrant, leaning towards warmer tones.

4) Decide what I will change, then gather references for those changes. In this case I was fortunate that not a lot needed changing. I knew I wanted to move Thane’s eye position to looking at Keahi rather than the way he is slightly off focus, do a more realistic ear with earrings for Keahi, make Thane a little more smiley and lower his eyelid and give Keahi nicer eyelashes. I keep a whole bunch of art guides and tutorials on my PC so I grabbed the necessary ones and sent them to my ipad ready to have on hand for the sketch stage. I have Thane’s character model in XNApose, so I can check things like his eyelid specifically in that (this is actually for a different project but shows you what I mean)

If I was going to change up the lighting/shading I would also gather references for that. For example sometimes i’ll take screenshots of lighting schemes I love from films/tv shows (think the strong teal and orange scheme in Mad Max or the neons of Blade Runner). Or for precise shadows, I can again use XNApose. I also have a little 3d printed Thane head I can shine a torch at and take photos of to get shadow ideas. For humans there’s lots of reference to be found with online searches, I find pinterest more useful than google for this. For specific expressions or body parts, i’ll just take photos of myself (hand poses, smiling from the right angle etc.) My camera roll is an interesting place. I have drawn drell frills on my neck and on my chest before to see how the lines would fold at certain angles. 5) Setting up a canvas I work in procreate. For a piece like this I try to go pretty big, say 5000 x 4000 pixels, then i’ll crop down later as needed. 300 DPI. As I work, I’ll make duplicates and continue on the copy each fresh session. When i’m finished I make a backup save of the PNG and .procreate files on an SSD. I immediately turn the background colour down to a more muted colour to not burn my retinas. If i’m using a textured background like an oil board i’ll insert it, and any overlays like canvas effects. Set up my layers from the start basically for easy toggling throughout. I try to be good and label things to make life easier, it doesn’t always happen though. I don't wear a digital glove or use paper effect screens but I do have a bottle of screen cleaner and a microfibre cloth handy at all times. 6) Sketch. I’m still very much learning to draw. I tried for a long time to do the classic ‘ball for a head, draw the planes/lines etc. It was a constant struggle and never clicked for me, the ball especially always made things much worse, turning a circle into a 3d image in my head just does not happen. I find it better to just start drawing and work things out as I go (I use procreates reference window to see my screenshot). So I’ll have my sketch in one canvas, and i’ll also have a second canvas with the photo ref on it at the same size, and if I feel like something is really wonky and off i’ll test my lines over the photo to see what’s gone wrong, then go back to the sketch and correct the areas that revealed. Sometimes I’ll use the grid feature if i’m getting stuck.  Here's a few of the sketch stages:

Here I tried out the lines on the photo and noticed that Thane’s frills were a little too far to the left, and Keahi’s eyebrow needed to arch down towards the nose.In the next pass I correct these:

Also, and I know i’m gonna get side eye from some people for this but I really could not care less to be honest. On some pieces i’ll just trace the screenshot. Sometime I just want to get to painting, am not in the mood or mindspace for a learning experience, and this is a hobby. It’s my screenshot, no one is getting ripped off. My latest Javik piece was done this way 🤷‍♂️ 6) Painting. I’ll start by blocking in the background and the portrait flats, usually on separate layers. I try to have an idea of the background colour from the start as this can effect the whole piece overall, but sometimes you just gotta change it as you go so having it on a different layer makes this much easier.

The painting itself I’ll lay down wider areas of colours, then start going in and refining bit by bit, I tend to work on one area at a time, and sometimes I’ll get pretty well rendered on a small area before moving on, other times work on a wider area. It really depends on my mood and what i’m vibing with that day. Like you can see here I’ve done some general messy colouring all over Keahi, but done a lot of refinement on the eyeball:

7) Finshing the piece, uploading and testing: When I’m sick of rendering the painting and don’t think I can add anything more to it without gnawing my own wrist off, it is time to finish up! I make sure I toggle all the layers I want on, add a top signature layer (lol I lie I forget this all the damn time). Then i’ll upload the piece to my google drive and open it up on my big 4k monitor on my PC, and on my phone, and see how it looks (my ipad is a 9.7inch air). I find that once off my ipad, it often looks a little less saturated and contrasting as it does in procreate. So I might go back and change the levels if it’s too big a difference until it looks decent across devices (it’ll never look perfect on them all though, just gotta find that happy medium).

8) Posting online I really don’t have any strict steps for this. I know some people go for optimal posting times, and will make multiple copies of their pieces in different sizes to fit better on different sites (damn you instagram and your need for everything to be square). I… do not do any of this lol. I post when I’m done whatever time or day that is. I do tend to reblog/retweet etc before I go to bed, as I live in the UK and that will at least be getting into evening time in US. I reblog my own stuff a fair bit.

inzoi demo review from someone who fully expected to be an inzoi hater:

tl;dr overwhelmingly positive experience with one negative so bad it broke the game for me

Positives

this one might not be helpful because it will depend on your pc but i own a gaming laptop that is four years old? maybe? expected to get the video card error, but it downloaded and installed easily. the edges are definitely crispy and the cut scenes do not cut scene for me, but i was able to download the demo and play it without too much headache. (this is the first hurdle i assumed i would not be able to pass)

the models are truly beautiful and i have seen people playing with the face capture and i actually think it looks good.

color wheels are easy to use and don't bring your computer to a stuttering halt like sims 3. generally found editing and changing colors to be an easy process with instant results.

do like the presets. i think they have a fun range of presets to choose from. however, presets will continue in the next section.

the face editor is amazing and fun. i had read people's reactions before hand and wasn't sure how much push and pull i would have. for the most part, making average characters, i found it to be easy to edit the face, and i did not yet feel the limitations.

the photo mode is really fun and i can't wait to see what else can be added to it. some controls are not as intuitive as i want them to be but i might be simspilled so i don't want to count that against them.

gender doesn't look too in depth but i was happy to see the men were not blocked from "feminine" hairs and girly clothes. i did a male zoi first and was pleasantly surprised by the selection. then i did a female zoi and that will continue in the next section.

skin tone customization more in depth than i suspected. you can pretty much have any color as your skin tone and it defaults to some pretty dark tones. is it perfect? i don't think so, but neither is any other life sim on the market.

personally when i start a new save i want to be playing the game as quickly as possible. sometimes create a sim can take hoooourrrss and i already want to be in the world. was very much worried the would be the case with create a zoi but i actually found it to be a relatively easy process and i think if the game was fully open i could start playing with a character of my dream without being too bogged down.

the personalities!! i almost forgot to include this. i had read you only have one personality trait and it was based on bs personality tests and found myself unsure BUT ACTUALLY i really like the dimensionality, it seems like the personality will have effect on gameplay (i don't have the screenshot i took but they do affect need growth and how connections are built) and i think it's a well done system that simplifies without sacrificing too much. in actual gameplay? we'll see. but so far so good.

overall the first half of my experience was very good and i was starting to fall under the spell. however......

Negatives

cut scenes and frame rate are definitely suffering with my laptop. i don't know how well the full game will play. again, this is case by case, so despite how easy it was to download, unsure how easy it will be to play the full game.

the ui is cluttered i gotta say it. i have a really large laptop screen and i found it getting in my way. i could not figure out a way to make the left side of the screen fold up so i could focus on editing my zoi. i felt like i had to be extremely zoomed in to play with the features and half my character's face was taken up by ui.

male zoi option vs female zoi. i said i was pleasantly surprised by the male options. then i went to the female zoi and realized she had twice as many options. not overwhelmingly negative, as it's often true of any dress up game, but i have two concerns: 1) that means the clothes are gender locked, they just made two sets to fit the different frames and 2) gender options are extremely limited. you get one female frame and one male, and we will discus the body frames in just a moment i'm working up to it.

clothing is somewhat limited. don't get me wrong, there are a ton of cool customization options where you can change the shirt and pant length, but the clothing has one specific style that, while cool, does not offer a lot of variety. again, demo, this is an easy fix, and you could say the same for any base game life sim.

hairs did feel limited, especially any textured hair.

the big one. the reason i probably won't buy this game. (that is a personal statement, not a moral one.) the body sliders are simpler than sims 4. full stop. sorry the body editing is extremely simple and has so few range and options. muscle mass and body weight are not actually elements to the zoi, and i suspect weight gain will not be a feature in the main game. it seems as tho the game has limited "frames" from which to build bodies. the waistlines are not editable. the weight really isn't either, it actually pulls the body sliders to their full edges, meaning if i want a fat body that is a different shape, good fucking luck my dude. attempted different body shapes for my female zoi and came up short every time. i suspect also, judging from what i've read other people say, that the face presets are more limited than they want you to believe as well, as it seems even the face details are decided by the preset you choose and have limited versatility past that. thanks to lack of separate face detail presets, meaning there is no nose category, or lips, you are really reliant on the original body you pick looking close to your final vision. this gives a lack of player freedom and creativity i find startling. now, i have not pushed the limits of this, and face details i was happy with how editable they were... until i got to the body and started to figure out its limitations.

this is a personal issue based on the way i play, but the clothes are generally also really baggy, so it can be difficult to tell what kind of body shape i am getting with my presets. in general i remove all make up and clothing from a sim when i start to edit them, which is harder to do with the zoi, so i found myself frustrated working through the presets.

to call this final point a negative is a little unfair to the game but it's part of my experience: i was high playing with the face editors and their doll eyes did start to scare me and i had to cover part of the screen. i do think the models look surprisingly good and their expressions actually for the most part look really nice, but after staring at them too long and realizing the limitations, they definitely started to feel uncanny valley.

i think this game is a lot more limited than it advertises itself as. i know it's a demo i know it's an old build i know i know i know i think this is a good indicator of what base game caz is going to look like and i think there are major concerns being raised. i think the people who are primed to like this game will be fully satisfied with the product, but those of us on the fence, i don't know. i feel like in a short play session i started to strip away what i actually enjoyed and became more and more disappointed, but i'm also going to play with it more while i can. so, yes, my volley of emotions from inzoi skeptic to believer to the pedestal being knocked out from underneath it has been an interesting experience.

however my main inspiration for my 300 lustrates comes from when people play ff14 at fanfest pc setups and have to make their own hotbar situation, and theres photos of people making their own silly hotbar setups including a monk with a perfect square in the middle of their screen of nothing but Bootshine buttons, of which op joked was a new monk rotation. heres a visual recreation of how it looked since i cant find the picture itself

and i got so obsessed rthat i made my crucifiction hotbar. which when translated over to my other hotbar settings made a small wall of lustrates to one side, so i edited it and just made a squasre of lustrates to remind myself of the most important button

and thats why these two things exist. the crucifix was also to remind me of the buttons i use the most as sch (indom lustrate aetherpact recitation summon eos excog)

My NVMe Needs - Part 4: Another Trial & Error (w/ my paper dolls) [Recorded on Apr 21st, 2023]

So, here’s Part 4 of “My NVMe Needs“ (featuring my paper dolls). 😁 Actually, this is Part 2 of 2 videos that I've recorded, yesterday (April 21st, 2023).

For this continuation, I'm attempting another try & hopefully will succeed in the migration. Plus, I'll reveal the benchmarks using helpful software (which, I won't mention the name until the end). ✋ HOLD IT! (AGAIN!)✋

• Okay so before I discuss my experience, let's discuss my recording process. I have 17 recorded videos 🎦📲on my smartphone (the Honor 8C), one of which is from the VLC media player 🎦🖥️. However, squeezing 17 videos in one package wouldn't fit in my (Tumblr) post 😕, so I decided to slice it in half to make a minimum of 500 MB per video post 🪓, not to mention, the adjustments, speeding up the process, and adding subtitles. 🎦✏️🖥️ And thus, I made two videos. It took 7 hours to finish these videos between 7 PM to 2 AM (Apr 21st to 22nd). And man, I'm all relieved after editing. So much so, I want a take a break after this, but I can't because I want to end my ambitious topic sooner before celebrating my birthday, next month (May 6th). Regardless, at least I'm all done with editing, and all was left is to type in with my thoughts. And uhh, if you see me shirtless, then my apologies for that, I completely forgot to wear a shirt before recording. lol 😅 Plus, it's damn heat season in my country (The Philippines), so it's hard enough to sweat my glands while progressing (, both daylight & night), you know. 🥵☀️ Anyways, let's get over with...

• So, in second attempt, you noticed the total memory size was decreased by 789 bytes than before. Here, I have some photos, right here. ↓ [pls see my 12th & 13th image(s)]

• Sadly, the third attempt was another failure despite the 250+ GB won't handle the migration. And uh, did I mention the writing rate is slow from the physical drive? Yeah, I could see that. However, there's a solution to that. So, let's proceed to these images. ↓ [pls see 14th & 15th image(s)]

• Alright, third attempt time! And you noticed I reduced the memory size to 150+ GB because I uninstalled larger files/apps. But wait, what are the larger files/apps that I've uninstalled? Well, 2 PC games. One is what I actively played [CLICK ME! #1], while the other is not [CLICK ME! #2] because I suck at playing it. But, is still a great game though (you should check it out at #2). Nonetheless, after it reach 99%, it was a success! And I immediately click the button to shut down the PC! *sigh* Yes! Rejoice!

• Next, I turn on the PC once more & press F12 to access the boot menu. There, I swap my old physical drive to my NVMe M.2 drive as my new main boot before I save & click the new main boot from the "Boot Override" list. Then it restarts my PC, but there's a problem... It did not work well! I'm not sure what happened, so I have another round of manual troubleshooting (Round 2). After a couple of minutes, I fire up my PC & it finally worked! It boost very quickly than before until another problem came out to smash my monitor's face, it blacked out! (no pun intended) Round 3 for manual troubleshooting! I'm starting to get frustrated, but I won't give up on my PC. With blood, sweat & tears in my body, my PC has finally worked! And it was worth the hard for me!

• Now, I was gonna install a leftover cooling fan from a brand called "DeepCool", but I'm having trouble my PC, a couple of times. Installing a cooling fan (whether 4 fans or more) is an essential requirement to keep our internal board (CPU, Graphics Card, NVMe) from overheating for a long period. And it sucks without it. *sigh* But don't worry, I'll be targeting & browsing a new spanking PC tower case, very soon. As well as a brand new power supply, too. My paper dolls approves my idea.

My Benchmarks: ↑

• Let's proceed with another test (that I've promised). This is the so-called "helpful software" that I was talking about. I would like to introduce the "CrystalDiskMark", a read/write memory testing software. Some of you may familiar with it, but others not so much. Nonetheless, these are the four benchmarks that I've tested, including my recent Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe, which has the most readable & writable rated speeds of the four memory-based drives, with the bottom right being the least, and that's the Seagate Barracuda 7200 HD. That's the reason why I struggle with playing games or waiting to boot using an old & slow physical drive. Not only that but the multiple windows & tasks that sometimes can't handle. I could relate to that situation though. But thanks to the supreme performance of the NVMe M.2 drives, it can handle pretty much anything, including PC games that are larger files (particularly AAA game titles). However, running large-size PC games means overheating the NVMe's processing unit & other chips, making it stressful on your gaming PC, and that brings it with the introduction of the heat sink for NVMe, which can dissipate the heat & prevent overheating the NVMe's processor & chips. Sure, it may not need it for your NVMe sticks, but we need to keep our memory-based drives & our PC itself top-shaped without any signs of error, not to mention longer period. And that make sense, you know.

Side Note: It said, that the Samsung 970 EVO Plus delivers a sequential read & writes of 3,500 MB/s & 3,300 MB/s respectively. And according to my benchmark test, I would say a solid promise. Even though, the write rate was almost 3,300 MB/s-ish but still a solid promise to me.

Overall:

• I have to say, it was satisfying & a bit frustrating, at the same time. I've shared a lot of mistakes & plenty of undo processes, with a ton of sweaty & face-rubbing from my body because of the dry season, but that doesn't stop me until I'm done. But in the end, I accomplished the installation of the SSD NVMe M.2 drive with my first owned NVMe stick from Samsung (970 EVO Plus) & the heat sink by Thermalright. Hopefully, these two we're safe & sound, forever without second thoughts about removing them. But, should I buy another NVMe with additional items to operate? Maybe. If I buy another NVMe M.2 drive, then I could use it for my file storage instead of the mechanical counterpart. But Nah, I guess one NVMe stick is good enough for me (I suppose). One thing I'm concerned about is not touching any internal components when I try to install a cooling fan or a heat sink with another NVMe stick on it because if I do with a slight touch my PC won't run at all, and that scares me... *sigh* But in the end, it was a worth it & satisfied my computer upgrade. My ambitious computer upgrade was a success!

I have more tests to come until the end, so I'll be planning to make another part for the finale (before my birthday countdown starts), so stay tuned.

New year round up for what I'm still playing, mobage/gacha edition.

Ash Echoes is my current beau du jour. The story has been really ramping up and the latest one was so good! Since we have Foresight EX due to the CN server being a year ahead, knowing it'll keep getting better is a plus. I really love a lot about this game, and all the characters are so cool... Boreas comes out next week, and I can't wait to pull my next healer! The game is such a diamond in the rough though; not many I can talk to about it...

I picked up Infinity Nikki (PS5), and it's been mostly what I wanted from an open world game. Nikki's fashion still isn't really to my taste, which is good for my wallet, but the experience has been really good so far. My roommate also picked it up to play casually once he found out BotW's director (or whatever) worked on it (and you can tell) but now he's been getting more intense into it lol...

My other fashion game, Life Makeover, is still going for me since that one does have styles to my taste, but I've been defunding parts of it. The monetization has been getting really, really aggressive lately, even more than the already aggressive monetization that's virtually present in all dress up gacha, and it's been turning me off.

Onmyoji still trucking along. I feel like the game has gotten a bit aimless in story, as if they're not sure what to do. Post-Takamagahara, we started with the four clans which has been hinted at for literal years, but now we're in fantasy China. We haven't seen Seimei-tachi in a while either. While I enjoyed Fengyang and Guijinyang, I'm just a bit baffled by the writing decisions since they don't feel very coherent to Onmyoji's overall vision. Maybe it'll come together eventually...

GBF be GBF. Water GW this month, though I don't think I'll go hard since my water teams are???? Also I don't really care about the Divine Generals, so the anniversary event is whatever to me. Nothing exciting was in the December livestream either.

Wuthering Waves released on PS5 so I installed it there to see if anything changed (dropped before Black Shores release). Zani is cool but I'm not sure if I'll pull her since I don't think I'll get enough currency since I'm still unsure if I want to commit again. The new area is so empty? Like I remembered Jinzhou just had more random things to find during exploration: chests, events, even mats, but Rinascita's land is ... empty. It doesn't feel satisfying to explore. Also the design elements feel like more of the same. There's some parts that express the region's identity, such as the whimsical towns and Echoes, but overall it's just another green area. (Also, I think Nikki spoiled me cause there I would stop to take in the vistas and snap photos, but here hasn't been very breathtaking.) I still haven't shaken the feeling of disappointment for this game yet.

For 2025, not much has interested me. Tribe Nine looks interesting but might be too difficult for what I look for in a gacha game. Black Beacon has a depressing m/f ratio and it's ex-PGR devs, but I'll probably try it out to see if the story is worthwhile. Duet Night Abyss feels like vaporware at this point, but the gameplay is different so I'm curious despite the fanservicey nature of the designs so far. Not much else, I think? Everything feels like tits and ass only or MHY clones in terms of design/execution or both. Or they're bloated productions which require a PC to play, which is just depressing for someone who wants ostensibly mobile games to be mobile.

I’m back!

Hi guys! How’s it going? I owe you a bit of an explanation. I’ve been AWOL for a couple of weeks for a few reasons, some I will explain and some I can’t explain.

As you all know, I’ve been in a funk for a while now. I’ve been dealing with it somewhat successfully. Trying to figure out what it is and how to overcome it. I think I have it figured out, it’s not something I can talk about sadly but, I can talk about how I am dealing with it. Once I figured out what was going on, everything sort of fell like dominoes. The solution at the time was really difficult and not something that can happen quickly. So because I wasn’t really making any progress with my solution I started to feel bad about everything and mean literally everything.

Some of you may know, some of you may not, I usually get up at 5am to go to the gym just for a bit of exercise and to get out of the house (I’m told it’s a good thing to touch grass but I’m not 100% convinced XD). When I couldn’t find a solution to the funk I started feeling really about everything I was doing. What is the point in going to the gym? I’m tired all the time, I have to go to bed at 2030, I never seem to loose any weight. I hate the way I look in the mirror. Am I a good wife to Rawthorm? Is he happy? And it all goes downhill from there. I just didn’t feel like streaming and I was wallowing. I am coming out the other side though. Surprisingly Horizon Forbidden West did help a little. Horizon Zero Dawn is one of my all time favourite games and I had so much fun sharing that playthrough with you that I couldn’t wait to play Horizon Forbidden West and playing it 2 days in a row did just enough to start me off in the right direction. I’ll get there, It’s hard to explain when I can only tell you half a story.

Maybe one day I will be able to tell all but for now, just know, that I am getting better and I don’t think there are going to be any more missing streams without me at least telling you guys beforehand. Speaking of streams, I’ve got some good updates coming.

We had a Thursday stream last week with the release of Horizon Forbidden West and so far it has not disappointed. I’m still getting to grips with a few of the new mechanics but it’s going well. As you can see from my Sunday selfie I was so excited for the game I put on battle paint just for the occasion. As much as I would love to it’s not going to happen for every stream but I felt the occasion warranted a little something extra.

Todays stream of Rainbow Six Siege was awesome. Thanks to everyone who dropped by and played some games with me. It was fantastic. I was carried in every single game and I did not deserve any of the wins I got.

My Horizon Zero Dawn playthrough is still going up on YouTube every Wednesday and I have started streaming on YouTube as well! So every Friday I will be live on YouTube playing Horizon Forbidden West so I wont have to edit any the videos for them to go up there! Win Win :D

I am off from my day job all week next week, so if you guys want to play any games or you see my playing anything on discord, come and hang out with me, lets play some games!

Monday 11th March 2024

Hey journal so today started of with me relaxing in bed for a little bit then I had a shower and got ready for the gym. Then I planned to get the bus but I miss the bus by a couple minutes so I ended up walking to the gym instead as the next one was in 20 minutes. Once I got to the gym I got myself a well needed energy drink. Then I trained with Morgan and we trained mainly back. We also did a bit of bench and I increased my pr to 67.5kg which is not brilliant but it’s better for me so I guess that’s a plus. Then after doing all of this me and Morgan went on the treadmill for 20 minutes I ended up burning 200 calories and I was absolutely dripping by the end of it. Then after that we went to the changing rooms so Morgan could get he’s things. Then someone we work with walked by then we both had a coversation with her which was nice. She was speaking about how she wants to quit smoking and wants to get into the gym so we just spoke to her about that for about 20 minutes. After this I jogged a little and walked, to the pharmacy to get some of my prescriptions. We have changed pharmacy to this one is closer to my house. Anyways after getting my prescriptions I walked home. Had some wraps once I was home. Then played on my pc for a few hours. I have now got grand champs for this season 14 chapter 2. I have got it in the first week of the season being out. I have also had some dinner and now I uploading rocket league clips from my pc to tiktok so I can edit them on my phone to make videos for my gaming tiktok account. Anyways I will speak to you later journal, bye journal!

Lightroom/Digital Marketing (Kodoku's Lilacs, The Life of a Flowstar, No. 8)

I believe I may have stated before that I like photography and taking pictures with my Canon camera. Before I start part of this post, this is not some sponsor I'm being paid for lol (I wish tho). It's basically of an app that I recently got and had fun using. If you know of Adobe, you most likely know of their flash player (RIP), but they got other stuff as programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and the one I use, Lightroom!

Lightroom is a program where you can edit on how you feel on a picture, not like Photoshop tho. Think of the photo editing software that you have on your phone in the photo gallery. It's basically that, but it has more stuff and can keep a high resolution photo, high resolution. Best part is that it's free on mobile (Idk about PC tho) and it's very easy to use!

Now that I'm done writing about what the app is about when I can write it on the description on Play Store (If the owners of that put the above paragraph on their description for Lightroom, they at least better hire me lol), I'll talk about where I learned it at, a class called Digital Marketing, aka my favorite class. The first three semesters were just about businesses and how to operate them, Photoshop, that kind of stuff. The semester I'll talk about is my favorite semester of the class and it revolves around photography. What's cool is that the school let me bring my camera, so I didn't have to use others and get confused, there was other brands like Sony there.

The most I've learned from the class are adjusting the settings on your camera in manual mode, knowing how to use Lightroom, and my most favorite, light painting. If you don't know what light painting is: Basically you're in the dark, someone has a glowstick that they use to run around with for the picture (With the light present), and you adjust your camera settings so it doesn't catch anything beyond the dark and glowstick, and the picture takes seconds to take, like 6 seconds. You also got to stay still if you want to be in it, otherwise the picture will look like a mess. Do it right, and the picture can look pretty cool! I have a couple of pictures of me taken with light painting, one of them was me "hitting the griddy" lol, it was fun though, I already miss it.

We also went outside and took pictures of plants and other stuff whilst adjusting our settings, figuring out what makes the picture look good. If the colors or brightness doesn't look like what we want, we use the program I mentioned earlier, Lightroom. Once we did all of that, we put them in a Google slides and then submitted them into Google Classroom (There were different sessions for seperate assignments, like light painting). Luckily, we had semester tests and I somehow missed too many days for that class (Fuck AMI lol), and it was what I basically explained and it was easy! I hope I can get that class again next year, or at least that part of the class, it's really the only class that can benefit me on the future.

Idk if I'll share pictures of me in the future, that'll depend on whether I get comfortable with the app. I hope that maybe I got you interested in photography, as it's an easy thing to do, and it could make alot of money, although the stuff required is expensive lol. I have nothing else to say, and I hope yall have a goodnight!

if you choose "empty page" OR hit the blue "cancel" button OR not even choose the "choose a template" button and just start typing, you will be give this type of page: (I've typed in the page to show you the auto font sizes and what a comment looks like)

as you can see, it automatically gives you a space for the title (you don't need to edit the font size)

and immediately let's you start typing anf you can add a comments to your work if needed

at the bottom of the page,(which I gave cropped out), you will see this menu:

from left to right you will see:

AI button (I have not messed nor used it and in my personal opinion: BOOOOOOOO)

the + will give you a small window and you can scroll down, it lets you do many things such as:

changing the font from regular text to the different heading sizes

bulleted list (and numbered list)

lets you add different media (images, video, audio, etc)

and so many other things (omg this post is far too long) (sorry)

the reblog-like symbol will let you let you do most of the same text-based editing as the previous one

the photo symbol will let you add a photo

text/ 'Aa' will let you edit the text itself by letting you bold, italicize, cross out, underline, and hyperlink

next symbol will let you add a comment

next symbol will let you go back (undo button basically)

next will let you hide the keyboard to let you view your work

If you scroll up on the page, you can find these three (3) icons:

left to right

add icon will let you add an icon/emoji instead of a file icon (see my note that is titled Michael Fadeyev when I showed the home menu and how it has a bug next the title)

add cover will allow you to add an image (see my note that says Michael Fadeyev, how it has an image instead of being gray)

• Alright so, what you see here is I combine two techs in one digital memory sandwich before I connect it to my current PC. Yeah, I speed it up my thoughts because I've already add subtitles. • See? What I told ya! It's like PB&J Sandwich, right you two?! They get it... But, please don't eat it. lol

• However, once I install my custom NVMe my PC won't read, and thus I need to do manual & painstaking troubleshooting (1st Round). It took me minutes to fix without disassembling it before it functions. What a relief! Here are more pictures before I firing up my PC. ↓ [please see my 6th & 7th image(s)]

• What a thing of beauty, isn't it? What I don't like is the plastic peg. It should it go with metal screws over this. (just saying)

• Next, I need to open "Computer Management" for setting up my NVMe stick from switching "GPT" (which stands for "GUID Partition Table") to format with "NTFS" (which stands for "NT file system and the New Technology File System"), and then I proceed to install Samsung's provided "Data Migration". I also downloaded the "Samsung Magician" software in a form of the RAR file. Which, I'll discuss in my final part.

• Once my NVMe is formatted & installing the data migration, the latter automatically opens (at a slow pace). Sorry, my physical drive is having a rough day, but don't, my HD will be retired once I've done migrating. Before I start migration take a look at their capacity differences. Their quite an opposite when it comes to storage spaces of 400GB (Seagate Barracuda 7200) & 1TB (Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus NVMe). • Hours later, the migration is almost complete! Until the physical drive went to halt the process despite the red light indicator immediately stopping blinking. *Sigh* We're SO CLOSE to reaching 100% migrating files & OS to my first owned NVMe stick! So, I guess we're gonna try again on the second attempt.

Campaign Sorcery - Scrapbook

Hullo, Gentle Readers, and welcome to another Campaign Sorcery article. In these articles, I offer little ideas on how to “tszuj” your campaign – little tips to make things just a bit more memorable. In this month's article, I'm offering you a way to literally hold onto those memories – a scrapbook.

The first time I had I campaign scrapbook was in a campaign I ran in 2nd edition. I used to keep a large book of notepaper on the table that we called the Pad of Secrets. My players would write me notes about what spells they'd prepared for the day, or things they wanted to do without the rest of the party seeing. Because I had a number of artists gaming with me, there would often be doodles on these notes, or some of them would just grab a piece of paper from the pad and do little drawings. At the end of the night, there would often be a half-dozen or more little pieces of art...pictures of monsters, or the characters, or what have you.

I didn't want to throw these away – they were ephemera of my campaign after all. I had an old photo album with nothing in it, so I started taping the pictures in there. When I created notes that the PCs found, they went in there too, as did my own illustrations of various NPCs. I also printed out or photocopied pictures that made me think of people and places from the campaign. Before I knew it, we had a scrapbook.

In these days of the internet, a scrapbook may seem incredibly old-fashioned, but, while you can capture images on a website or wiki or what have you, a scrapbook can hold so much more. If a particular flower or plant is important to the campaign, you can dry and press it, then add it to your scrapbook. Badges, buttons, swatches of cloth, pennets from a Renn Faire...any of these could be added to your scrapbook to give it elements of a real document of a fantasy experience.

You can use tricks from other articles to add realism to your scrapbook. You can age and wrinkle pages using the tricks from the documents article. Or soak some of the documents in tea and let them dry to give them an interesting scent. Use a mug to put a good “Ale” ring on a page, or use fake blood to add a smear. You can even use a kitchen blowtorch to burn the edges of some of the pages. Anything can add to the overall atmosphere of the piece.

Imagine opening your book long after the campaign is finished to find notes about how the Rogue was plotting to embarrass the Bard at the Queen's Gala. Or see notes about how the Paladin was quietly giving donations in the Warlock's name, praying for their redemption. Even some notes about what the Ranger is buying for supplies for the trip into the Jungles of Chult could stir up some fun memories when you look at them down the road.

It doesn't just have to be a record of the in-game happenings. Sometimes players pass notes to one another asking totally out of game questions. Those can be funny to include, too. Was there a kind of beer or soda that everyone was drinking during the game? Include a label or a coaster or some other memorabilia. Did everyone order from the same Chinese restaurant every week? Include a take-out menu. The goal is to revive memories when you or your players look back at that book.

Every once in a while, I pull the book out and look through it. I chuckle over in-jokes, sigh at memories of heroic or tragic moments, and get inspired to either rework storylines or to do a similar story, but in a different way. It can be funny how nostalgia over the past can inspire some cool new ideas for the future.
