Hey Senator Bernie Sanders, why aren't Haitians fleeing to Cuba?
It is 400 miles from Haiti to Cuba in dangerous open water.
It is 700 miles to Florida almost twice the distance, and likely more than twice the danger.
Cuba has had over 60 years to get the kinks out of its socialist paradise. And yet it is still one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere.
I went there in 2017 and found that Havana was semi-modern, although in it main plaza (very beautiful) the only toilet we could find was a pay toilet that had to have a lady trudge around the corner to get a bucket of water to flush the toilet.
Outside the the city there were few cars and mostly cart and horses. The Cuban food tasted awful because they couldn't afford spices.
Third world all the way. BTW the music there is OUTSTANDING.
But still, why not flee to a country with socialism, many things are free, if you can find them.
And this is the form of economics that our leftist liberals want to bring to us.
Bernie, please explain!!!

Biden’s America
Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, one of the busiest in the world, looks like a scene from the post-apocalyptic movie Mad Max. The airport used to look like this: Not any more. As Biden’s open-border invasion overwhelms the ‘sanctuary city,’ the airport has been turned into a migrant shelter. Which is just fine with psycho leftist Democrat mayor Brandon Johnson who has been branded the migrants’ mayor.…

White people claim Central Asians as white, but the moment a group of Central Asians commit a terroristic attack, suddenly all Central Asians are terroristic churkas. So, what is it? Are we only white when it’s convenient, to make your nonexistent culture seem spicy and appropriate our food, clothing, and traditions? We’re so white, that they physically assimilate our language and stop us from speaking our native tongue because that’s the language of the barbaric savages. Ahh, got it.

Apart from comedians, the only person who seemed to like Sen. Katie Britt's Republican response to the State of the Union was Donald Trump. For Trump, who told 30,573 lies during his presidency, lying is a big plus and a useful tool.
Trump’s accolades for Britt should not come as a surprise. After all, Britt took a page from Trump’s own playbook by baselessly stoking fears about Brown immigrants to scare voters into supporting the white supremacist GOP. The most compelling part of Britt’s speech involved her telling the story of a 12 year-old girl who had been sex trafficked by the drug cartels.  Britt began that portion of her speech by blaming Biden for the “border crisis,” claiming he “invited” it with his executive actions. She continued, “I took a different approach. I traveled to the Del Rio sector of Texas. That’s where I spoke to a woman who shared her story with me,” adding, “She had been sex trafficked by the cartels starting at the age of 12.” From there, Britt detailed the painful story of this girl, saying, “She told me not just that she was raped every day, but how many times a day she was raped.” After sharing more of the gruesome details of what the cartels did to the girl, Britt declared, “We wouldn’t be okay with this happening in a Third World country. This is the United States of America, and it is past time, in my opinion, that we start acting like it,” adding, “President Biden’s border policies are a disgrace.” Britt’s message was clear: Due to Biden’s border policies, a 12-year-old girl was sex trafficked by drug cartels and was repeatedly raped on US soil. However, that was not even close to the truth. As fact checkers detailed—and Britt’s own staff has now admitted after a backlash—the sex trafficking of the 12 year old girl, Karla Jacinto Romero did not happen during Biden’s presidency. Rather it occurred between 2004 and 2008 during the presidency of Republican George W. Bush.
George W. Bush, AKA: "Dubya", was a big liar himself. He instigated the Iraq War on the false claim that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction which it was about to use on the West; two years after the war, the CIA reported that there had been no such weapons in Iraq.
And to stoke support for the Iraq invasion among voters, members of the Bush administration would try to link the 9/11 attacks to Iraq by giving speeches where they would intentionally use these words in close proximity to each other: Saddam, 9/11, terrorists, Iraq, Osama bin Laden. This mendacious word salad could deceptively leave the impression that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11 without actually saying so outright. For the record, the official 9/11 Commission (appointed by Bush) in 2004 found no connection between Iraq and the 2001 9/11 terror attacks.
Donald Trump and Katie Britt are just amplifying the 21st century GOP trend of fabricating reality regardless of its relation to the truth.

The research I did into cremations, various metal melting points, the composition of gold teeth/crowns, bone and body behaviours in fire, house fires, vardo construction techniques, heat able to be reached in open fires or house fires versus crematoriums, the process of ‘raking the ashes’ Tommy references, the very moment I realised on my rewatch that Tommy canonically had at least one gold tooth

The Digital Hostile Environment
"Migrants are being used as a testing ground for the State’s digital surveillance plans.
(...)
The increasing use of biometric surveillance risks automating the inequality and discrimination already baked into the immigration services and policing."
Migrantsrights UK, the @openrightsgroup and Big Brother Watch are campaigning against the expansion of the digital frontier and the attack on migrants' data rights.

I recently switched from Reddit to Tumblr and so far I'm really liking Tumblr. The two platforms are similar in a lot of ways but each also have a distinct feel to them. I am really enjoying the community that Tumblr has and it's definitely a lot less aggressive (I don't know if that's the right word but I can't think of a better one) than reddit. The main thing about Tumblr that's giving me the most amount of culture shock as a reddit refugee is definitely the vastly different attitude towards spoilers. Reddit is hardcore about not spoiling media that has recently come out but Tumblr is absolutely lawless in that regard. I'm glad I know now. Besides that, my transition from Reddit to Tumblr has been relatively smooth. If anyone has recommendations on how to prevent things from being spoiled on here, I'd really appreciate it

The conservative nationalist government of Poland has had a major scandal explode in its face just a month before elections for parliament.
Apparently visas were being sold to migrants who could then use them to travel anywhere in the EU.
The irony is that the ruling Law and Justice Party is very anti-migrant. The party is known in Polish as Prawo i Sprawiedliwość and it often goes by the unfortunate acronym PiS.
The government has released few details but media reports say migrants paid up to $5,000 (£4,000) each to speed up their work visa applications. Seven people have been charged so far but none are public officials. The country's Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk was sacked last week following the allegations. His dismissal came the same day that Poland's Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) carried out a search of the foreign ministry. The director of its legal service has also been fired. The ministry, which is facing an audit in relation to the scandal, said it would terminate all contracts for outsourcing companies handling visa applications since 2011. Opposition MPs said up to 250,000 visas for people from Asia and Africa were issued irregularly by outsourcing companies. The government disagreed with this figure, saying only several hundred were issued. "Anyone who wants to get from Africa to Poland goes to our embassy, buys a stamped visa at a special stand, fills in their details and off they go! PiS [governing party] migration policy," wrote Donald Tusk, the leader of the opposition Civic Platform party, on X (formerly Twitter).
If you check out the Polish media, two words you'll see quite a bit of are "afera wizowa" (visa scandal). The scandal has dominated the news lately.
Journalist and author Anne Applebaum explains afera wizowa in plain English for its effect on the United States.
Apparatchiks in Poland's "anti-immmigration" ruling party were reportedly selling multi-entry Schengen visas to Indians for $25-40k. These can be used to enter Mexico, and from there to attempt entry into the US.
It's at least theoretically possible for a migrant to have bought a Polish visa, flown to Mexico, and then tried to enter the US illegally.
Unlike some countries with conservative nationalist governments, Poland takes a hard line against Russia and has been supportive of Ukraine. Historically, there is no great love for Russia in Poland; Poland has been a target of Russian imperialism for centuries. So Ukrainian refugees have been the one legal exception to the anti-migrant policies of PiS.
This is one on the memes circulating in Poland these days...

^^^ That's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on the left and Jarosław Kaczyński, head of PiS, on the right.
Elections in Poland will take place on Sunday October 15th.
