I just read the issues of From the DC Vault: Death in the Family: Robin Lives! and I need to know if you guys think the alternative is accurate (esp the ending!!) because I have SUCH mixed opinions. Pls comment below your reasoning if you have time bc I genuinely wanna know what the fandom's opinion on this is.

Also, i find it a little funny how twice now Rick has said something like after a character's death the inner dialogue says "I didn't wanna tell ___ (nico/hazel grieving person) but i owed it to ___ (bianca/jason dead person)

Also just.. damn. Leo not telling anyone about his plan and everyone being angry at him for not telling anyone, and then having Jason be put in that position, understanding what he was going through?!

The true tragedy of Jason Todd's death and resurrection is that us as readers know how much Bruce was destroyed by his death. But if you solely look from Jason's perspective, it was as if he never existed at all. We know that Bruce was suicidal, but all Jason sees is a new Robin doing the exact same thing. It was as if Jason had no effect on the world at all. It was as if no one even noticed he was gone

Idiot Relationships

Ok so, I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I think Jason Carver might have actually loved Chrissy. The only reason I say this is the one line he says to Lucas when they're fighting in the attic. He says, "You know how I know you're lying? Because if Chrissy was hurting, she would have come to me!" I've seen a lot of people say that was just his pride or something, but honestly? It looked real. He was crying and angry and I think it was portrayed as a true honest heartbreak over the idea that someone he loved might not think they could trust him. Anyway, I know we really hate Jason, but I can understand his not wanting to believe Lucas.

The daily planet runs a front page article calling superman the light of mankind

Cue the batfam launching a counter campaign in support of Signal,  the real Light of Mankind.

It starts as a joke but quickly derails into an all out war.

To think that in the demigod world, Jason would be heralded as a hero. His friends would fight for it to be known that Jason was so much more than just the son of Jupiter. He would be remembered as Jason Grace. A hero, a friend, a leader, but most importantly, he would be remembered not by his heritage or his skill but by himself.

But in the mortal world, his classmates at the boarding school would have known him as a cautionary tale not to go surfing when the shore was dangerous. He would be remembered as either stupid or reckless in death.

Jason, who is constantly making death jokes, and gets back a "dgaf" kind of answers from his siblings. Which he is... used to. Firstly, because it is what siblings supposed to do, be mean to each other, and secondly, because... they are not wrong. His death didn't mean anything. No one cared much about him dying. Yes, they were bothered that he died - a kid, a son and a brother, had died. Everyone mourns dead kids, he wasn't special. Right?

So, he is fine with whatever he gets from his brothers. He often laughs back, even his laughter sounds far too strained to his ears. But, honestly, whatever! It is fine!

Until once, it isn't.

Maybe it is just a bad day. Or maybe his death anniversary is getting closer, and he gets more anxious. Nonetheless, he makes another joke - something about warehouses and crowbars; so, nothing new - and gets a usual funny-snappy reply back, something along the lines And no one cared. And he just huffs, his smile turning to a scowl, and before he can take it back, he shrugs.

'I know.'

Suddenly, it is too quiet in the room. And suddenly everyone is staring - confused, hurt, slightly surprised, even. Jason tries to laugh it off, to make them stop looking at him with so much pity, but his forced laughter sounds too much like a certain clown's in his insane, tired mind, and he ends up murmuring a haste farewell, before practically running away from the cave.

He thinks someone tries to call him back, but he ignores it.

The defeating silence and the looks of pity haunt him in his dreams for the rest of the night.

Obsessed with Batkids that came after Jason's death accidentally letting slip things they know about him/talking about him like he's there:

Tim: "Not that he's-- I mean, the way Bruce talks about him, sometimes it's like--

Duke, simultaneously: "We hired a medium last week to communicate with his spirit."

Steph, accidentally bursting out of the kitchen while Damian is being interviewed: "Someone tell Jason he's an asshole for finishing all the peanut butter." *spots camera crew and freezes*

Damian: "Jason's what I named our new dog. Right Baba? He's the dog we saw last week at the shelter."

Bruce, through gritted teeth: "Yes, I remember saying that we had too many animals already, but anything to make my kids happy."

Steph, awkwardly sidestepping out of the frame.
