I mean of COURSE Shauna hates Nat. Nat who’s sweet and caring and such a kind ruler, who took time to find what each yellowjacket was good at and liked decently enough to reconstruct their little society after the fire. She took Gen hunting, helped Akilah take care of their little farm, allowed Taissa full control of the construction of their shelters, gave Van space to unite the community through storytelling, even allowing Lottie to try and help Travis with their wilderness drugs. Except Shauna. Shauna didn’t need to find something to do, she was already the butcher. She butchered Javi so so nicely they almost forgot it was him. She’s been so strong throughout all of her huge losses in the wilderness, surely she can take it. She has been taking it. Nat didn’t need to make time to make sure Shauna was ok, after all Shauna didn’t want it. Except of course she did. Shauna needed a friend and suddenly everyone turned on her to favor their Queen, a title she deserves so much more.

Nat hid Ben, the person who had prolonged Shauna’s eternal winter suffering by burning down the cabin the same night she had to butcher Javi, someone she cared for so much. Nat hid Ben, the one responsible for the yellowjackets newfound adoration for Nat’s ruling. Nat hid Ben, the one who deserved to die and pay for his crimes, making Shauna useful again.

the way misty is looking at nat in this scene is so reverent. like we know that she was spending time with lottie and being that this was after lottie declared her queen you could assume that she does believe in the power of the wilderness but i truly think she didnt believe in it and instead she is practically worshipping nat because its natalie, not because she's queen

But if you solely look from Jason's perspective, it was as if he never existed at all. We know that Bruce was suicidal, but all Jason sees is a new Robin doing the exact same thing. It was as if Jason had no effect on the world at all. It was as if no one even noticed he was gone

So I just finished Promising Young Woman.

I loved it.

But probably one of the scariest parts of it is Bo's character of Ryan. I knew it was a bad sign when Ryan showed up to ask her out again after she gave him a fake number. And it was even worse when they just "happened" to come by his apartment.

These are not the scary parts, the scary part is that I liked his character for the majority of the movie. I saw the signs, but he was just so charming, and funny, and sweet, that I couldn't help but like him. And I saw what was coming too. I guessed it, because if Ryan was such a good guy, then why would she be in the nurse get up later in the movie?

When we found out he was there that night, I should've been furious, instead I was just disappointed and sad. When Cassie confronted him, I had hoped that he would show that he felt immense guilt for his actions, but he ended up being like everybody else.

I knew he had to be like everyone else for the movie to take the trajectory it did. But I got to know him, and I wanted to believe in him.

So that's what is truly terrifying about that movie. That I could like a person like that while knowing the outcome. That I could still care about him, just a little bit, after everything, because I'm mourning the person I thought he was.
