Slowly getting through the ref sheet updates. Here's Holly! Gave them a darker lower jaw, though just like on the older versions, they don't have an actual mouth.

Their injuries were also reimagined a little. Their body and face are more soft (I like to imagine it having a similar feel to a plant, another detail connecting them my The White Lady design), so instead of cracks, the injuries now resemble burns and tears, as if the infection burned through and ripped the outer layers, exposing the inner void "tissue"

Omg I LOVE that Fadel laid his head down in Style's lap. It always makes me so happy when Doms allow themselves to be vulnerable with their subs. It shows a beautiful lack of toxicity.

I touched on it in a fic I wrote; I think it can be explained in the game’s death mechanic. Upon death, we see their mask break (the body seemingly disappears into a shade, but we could assume their entire carapace cracks open to release the shade). I think, in their travels and fights for survival, they’ve “died” repeatedly, never living long enough to reach the next stage of growth because their shell respawns as young and new every time.

Maybe if they naturally grew bigger (perhaps molted to a larger size, as bugs do), then the shell would form to the size they were upon death. New and fresh, but not any smaller.

In contrast, I doubt THK would’ve ever “died” while in the White Palace. Besides the care they would’ve received under the Pale King, death would’ve had two major consequences: 1) THK would be a proven failure, because if a mortal bug could fell it, what chance would it have against the Radiance? 2) THK’s shade, freed from the limits of a solid body, could potentially be contacted by and even reunite with the countless shades of its siblings in the Abyss, and Hallownest’s savior would be gone.

If THK had died at any point, it wouldn’t have been with the same frequency as their sibling.

Gnawing cement, I actually wonder what allowed the Hollow Knight to grow up but not the Ghost. I mean, both of them were, apparently, from the same hatch, but, by the end of the game, while the Hollow knight is massive, Ghost is still a baby. And its not like the the Ghost was locked in an abyss with all the other vessels all this time, since they clearly came from an outside world in the beginning of the game. Was it only because of the Father's presence?

Style consistently makes Fadel either lose control or rest and both of those things are all Fadel has ever desired despite his own plans and statements and now here he is, able to give up control and able to rest at the same time because of the love of this infuriating man and his audacity.

Sure Style getting shot helped ease the tension but in the end it was Style being a dramatic bitch and walking into the ocean that brought them back together and honestly? That feels right. Feels good. Feels organic.

Fadel rests his head on Style's knees.

Just. Fadel. Taking a nap. On. Style's. Knees.

These walls that Fadel had tried so hard to build back up had collapsed completely. Total trust. Total acceptance of the situation. The realisation that he's not capable of killing Style. He wouldn't survive if anything happened to him. Fadel had tried so hard to deny his feelings that he hadn't noticed how Style had taken over his mind, his heart and soul. And now Fadel had resigned himself to it. He decided to try again, one last time. He realised that Style would sooner die (literally) than he let Fadel go. Now he's with him forever. He is the one who is willing to protect Fadel from danger, from pain (physical and mental), from his own thoughts.

Get yourself a man like Fadel who will follow you into the water because even when he pretends otherwise he really cares for you and his gut reaction is to make sure your safe…even if you are being a dramatic little ai satt (but that’s why he fell for you, wasn’t it?)
