The Golden Calf
1 When the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, “Up, make us gods, who shall go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.” 2 And Aaron said to them, “Take off the rings of gold which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3 So all the people took off the rings of gold which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron. 4 And he received the gold at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made a molten calf; and they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!” 5 When Aaron saw this, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation and said, “Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord.” 6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
7 And the Lord said to Moses, “Go down; for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves; 8 they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them; they have made for themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!’” 9 And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people; 10 now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them; but of you I will make a great nation.”
11 But Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, “O Lord, why does thy wrath burn hot against thy people, whom thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12 Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent did he bring them forth, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou didst swear by thine own self, and didst say to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it for ever.’” 14 And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do to his people.
15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mountain with the two tables of the testimony in his hands, tables that were written on both sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. 16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. 17 When Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, “There is a noise of war in the camp.” 18 But he said, “It is not the sound of shouting for victory, or the sound of the cry of defeat, but the sound of singing that I hear.” 19 And as soon as he came near the camp and saw the calf and the dancing, Moses’ anger burned hot, and he threw the tables out of his hands and broke them at the foot of the mountain. 20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it with fire, and ground it to powder, and scattered it upon the water, and made the people of Israel drink it. — Exodus 32:1-20 | Revised Standard Version (RSV) Revised Standard Version of the Bible, copyright © 1946, 1952, and 1971 the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. In November, Israel’s public broadcaster, Kan, uploaded on its official X page a video of Israeli children singing a song celebrating their country’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The broadcaster deleted the video clip after a huge online backlash. Even after the video was silently erased from social media, however, the song remained a subject of discussion and controversy. Many across the world were shocked to see children sing happily about “eliminating” an entire people “within one year”. Yet a closer look at Israeli literature and curricula shows this open celebration of genocide was the only natural outcome of Israel’s persistent indoctrination – or brainwashing to be more blunt – of its children to ensure that they do not view Palestinians as human and fully embrace apartheid and occupation. There is myriad evidence of Israel’s brainwashing of its citizens to erase the humanity of Palestinians spanning many decades. Israeli scholar Adir Cohen, for example, analysed for his book titled “An Ugly Face in the Mirror – National Stereotypes in Hebrew Children’s Literature” some 1700 Hebrew-language children’s books published in Israel between 1967 and 1985, and found that a whopping 520 of them contained humiliating, negative descriptions of the Palestinians. He revealed that 66 percent of these 520 books refer to Arabs as violent; 52 percent as evil; 37 percent as liars; 31 percent as greedy; 28 percent as two-faced and 27 percent as traitors.
. . . continues at Al Jazeera (13 Des 2023)
#i remember being taught in school that the indoctrination of children was one of the reasons why the israel-palestine ''conflict''#was so ~ complicated ~#but of course according to our teachers and our school books this was a sin only the palestinians were guilty of - never the israelis#palestine#israel#gaza

Arcade’s only sin is the sin of being born and I don’t think anyone can get it right when they write him.
Can you imagine the hatred? The disgust? Do you think that when he passes by mirrors and catches his own reflection he thinks “Innocent people died so I could be born” or “I am named after an idea of paradise that would cause the slaughter of thousands”? Does he feel guilt, this man who had to privilege of not having to go hungry, of being able to grow and tower over regular wastelanders? Does he consider the fact he was born of years of love and hate? That he was bred to be a fervent nationalist? Does he miss Navarro and then realize with disgust that had it not been destroyed he would’ve become the very thing he fights tooth and nail against?
And he simplifies it. He dumbs it down in his head and tries to save himself the sheer horror that the people he misses so dearly, his father, his mother, would’ve probably wanted him to mercilessly kill the very people he treats. He says to the courier “They did bad things. Kidnapped people, terrorized settlements.” But is that really it? No. But the thought that his parents named him, this tall man who used to be a child (that, had fate not changed, would’ve grown to be a soldier or a scientist hellbent on “purifying the wasteland”), after a paradise that would’ve brought about the destruction of thousands of good people must be a bone-chilling notion.
People don’t write him with the guilt of knowing what he was born to do. And they don’t write him with the pride of knowing that he defied it and works to better the wasteland all around him, to fix his nation’s mistakes.

"Angelina Jolie is not just a 'movie star'. She has worked as a humanitarian activist for 20 years. While many were in the comfort of their homes, she was listening to refugees in war camps. She helped build schools and has made many donations. You did what?"

"I have never understood why some people are lucky enough to be born with the chance that I had. To have this path in life, and why across the world there's a woman just like me with the very same abilities and the same desires, the same work ethic and love for her family, who would most likely make better films and better speeches. Only she sits in a refugee camp and she has no voice. She worries about what her children will eat, how to keep them safe and if they'll ever be allowed to return home. I don't know why this is my life and that's hers."- Angelina Jolie

Probably going to delete this eventually mostly because I'm not a political page, but here we go.
Everything that's happening in the Middle East makes me fuckin disgusted, and the people who say that Palestine deserves it, or that Hamas has done worse, or just general defense for the literal war crimes and complete extermination that's happening, it's just all so disgusting. I've had politics shoved down my throat from a young age, and I'm still young at 18, but it truly disgusts me that everything that's happening is what happening, and there's enough uneducated people that are just siding with Israel in America because they're "allies" and not actually looking at what's happening that makes me sick. My own parents are part of the "Well, maybe if Hamas didn't..." crowd, and I want to gag everytime my mother laughs at me telling her updates and showing concern for the "enemy", the enemy that's being wiped out day by day with no remorse because of a group that was probably not even 10% of the male population and 0% women and children, and yet you find videos of bodies of children being blown to bits because Israeli forces "saw IT move". I'm so fucking sick of feeling like no matter what I do or say on the matter just gets drowned out by the stupid I'm surrounded by.
#free palestine#free gaza#fuck israel#fuck politicians#fuck everyone#“punish the child for the sins of the parent”#Why should the younger generations suffer from the ignorance of people on their deathbeds of corrupt power#life isnt fair#I know#But it's disgusting

Manna and Quail from Heaven
On the fifteenth day of the second month after they had left the land of Egypt, the whole congregation of Israel set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai. And there in the desert they all grumbled against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died by the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt!” they said. “There we sat by pots of meat and ate our fill of bread, but you have brought us into this desert to starve this whole assembly to death!”
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test whether or not they will follow My instructions. Then on the sixth day, when they prepare what they bring in, it will be twice as much as they gather on the other days.”
So Moses and Aaron said to all the Israelites, “This evening you will know that it was the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and in the morning you will see the LORD’s glory, because He has heard your grumbling against Him. For who are we that you should grumble against us?”
And Moses added, “The LORD will give you meat to eat this evening and bread to fill you in the morning, for He has heard your grumbling against Him. Who are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD.”
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole congregation of Israel, ‘Come before the LORD, for He has heard your grumbling.’ ”
And as Aaron was speaking to the whole congregation of Israel, they looked toward the desert, and there in a cloud the glory of the LORD appeared.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’ ”
That evening quail came and covered the camp, and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the layer of dew had evaporated, there were thin flakes on the desert floor, as fine as frost on the ground. When the Israelites saw it, they asked one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was.
So Moses told them, “It is the bread that the LORD has given you to eat. This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Each one is to gather as much as he needs. You may take an omer for each person in your tent.’ ”
So the Israelites did this. Some gathered more, and some less. When they measured it by the omer, he who gathered much had no excess, and he who gathered little had no shortfall. Each one gathered as much as he needed to eat.
Then Moses said to them, “No one may keep any of it until morning.” But they did not listen to Moses; some people left part of it until morning, and it became infested with maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.
Every morning each one gathered as much as was needed, and when the sun grew hot, it melted away.
The Sabbath Observed (Genesis 2:1–3; Hebrews 4:1–11)
On the sixth day, they gathered twice as much food—two omers per person —and all the leaders of the congregation came and reported this to Moses. He told them, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘Tomorrow is to be a day of complete rest, a holy Sabbath to the LORD. So bake what you want to bake, and boil what you want to boil. Then set aside whatever remains and keep it until morning.’ ”
So they set it aside until morning as Moses had commanded, and it did not smell or contain any maggots. “Eat it today,” Moses said, “because today is a Sabbath to the LORD. Today you will not find anything in the field. For six days you may gather, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, it will not be there.”
Yet on the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they did not find anything. Then the LORD said to Moses, “How long will you refuse to keep My commandments and instructions? Understand that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day He will give you bread for two days. On the seventh day, everyone must stay where he is; no one may leave his place.”
So the people rested on the seventh day.
The Jar of Manna
Now the house of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey. Moses said, “This is what the LORD has commanded: ‘Keep an omer of manna for the generations to come, so that they may see the bread I fed you in the wilderness when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’ ”
So Moses told Aaron, “Take a jar and fill it with an omer of manna. Then place it before the LORD to be preserved for the generations to come.” And Aaron placed it in front of the Testimony, to be preserved just as the LORD had commanded Moses.
The Israelites ate manna forty years, until they came to a land where they could settle; they ate manna until they reached the border of Canaan. Do you know why you should focus on Gaza? Because it is an US-sanctioned genocide.
US, the supposedly ‘leader of the free world,’ backing their good-buddy Israel to genocide/ethnic cleanse/bomb the helpless people in a strip of besieged land they abused for 70+ years. Whose land they steal. These are supposed to be ‘the good guys.’
Instead, the world’s number one power is helping massacre Israel’s own victims. There is nothing more evil than that.
