Clarification on a common misconception about Israel.
(pasted from my reboot of an antisemite’s post because this needs to be said)
Israel is by definition NOT an ethnostate.
The definition of ethnostate is:
"a sovereign state of which citizenship is restricted to members of a particular racial or ethnic group."
As of 2022, the religious population makeup of Israel is:
"Jewish 73.5%, Muslim 18.1%, Christian 1.9%, Druze 1.6%, other 4.9%"
Clearly, citizenship and residency is not denied based on religion. How about race?
"73.2% (about 7,208,000 people) are Jews. 21.1% (around 2,080,000 people) are Israeli citizens classified as Arab, some identifying as Palestinian, and including Druze, Circassians, all other Muslims, Christian Arabs, Armenians (which Israel considers "Arab") An additional 5.7% (roughly 554,000 people) are classified as "others". (various ethnic/racial backgrounds.)
A quick google search shows that while Jews are the majority, many people of different races reside in Israel. White Christians are the majority in America and many European countries, and yet I have never heard them called ethnostates. Is this only because Jews are the majority? Hmmmm....
In contrast, Gaza WOULD fit the definition of an ethnostate. It has specific ethnic requirements not only to gain citizenship, but also to even enter the territory legally.

my biggest gripe with the pro palestinian movement is the lying. you can have empathy and feel remorse for gazans without lying and peddling every antisemetic trope in the book
you can realise that palestinian arabs did not kindly welcome jews who made aliyah before and after the shoah, they are not indigenous or the canaanites, they have been violent against israelis and jews, a lot of them do support hamas, the nakba was a war started by palestinians that they lost to israel, the palestinian national identity is reactionary to the israeli national identity, palestinians are not genetically distinct grom other arabs in the middle east, palestine is literally a colonial name given to the land by the romans to mock the jews living there to sever our connection to the land and STILL have empathy for palestinians. you can realise that they arent a perfect innocent victim and still have empathy for them. the source of their suffering isnt israel or jews, its the antisemitic and imperialistic goals of islamist leaders AND STILL. FEEL. REMORSE
if you need to distort the history of this land and its people and use antisemitic tropes in order to support palestine, you are the fucking problem!!!!! arabs are to the middle east what white people are to the west, and they are not victims just be they face oppression if they live in the west. go speak to any person from the indigenous populations of the middle east and levant and they can tell u all abt what islamism and arabs have done to them snd their families if u refuse to believe us sneaky lying je- i mean zionists. oh wait, its gonna be so hard to do that bc the arab world is doing everything in its power to kill them all
tl dr, you dont need to lie to have empathy for palestinians. you can accept the dirty past of palestinians (just as many israelis still love this country despite it flaws, less then pretty history and incompetent, corrupt government) and still empathise and believe in their self determination alongside jewish and israeli self determination. the need to lie, distort and discredit the jewish and israeli story shows your true (antisemetic) colors
(this is a rant from feb that u put on my insta story, thought it should be seen here)

I don't think people realize the number of rockets that have been fired at Israeli civilians daily for the past year: over 23,000!
These rockets were fired from over 5 countries, sometimes simultaneously. Over 150 rockers were fired today alone, and it's only 3PM here. People die almost every day from these rockets, let alone the daily terror attacks. Western & Arabic media outlets simply don't cover most of this.

Like yes sorry I am actually fucking furious that there are people in Israel who have been fighting for peace and equality for Israelis and Palestinians for years and years without acknowledgement or support from the broader international left, and since you weren't spoonfed this information by the Tumblr School of International Relations you wanna just act like it's never existed.
Fuck you.

Hi! Just a little reminder: People who are ethnically Jewish are not white. We are Indigenous to the Levant. There are many studies done to prove so. Please respect that. We are not white colonizers. We are neither white nor colonizers. Idk why this concept is so hard for people to understand.

Just a comparison. Nov 7 (a year and a month after the oct 7 2023) attack, and 03:14, 26 September 2023. Wiki's first paragraph on zionism. Of fucking course no one knows what to do anymore or what zionism is.

Hi, your url is on an anti-Zionist blocklist because apparently you interacted with a disgusting pro-Israeli "bingo" blog. however your pinned post's tags allude to you being against those who are anti-palestine. I hope it was a mistake and i don't want hate sent your way for no reason
I interacted with a post that called out the antisemitic bullshit that I have personally been going through, and y'all decided that means I'm an evil (((zionist))) who wants Palestinians dead?
This is why Jewish people have been so worried. We aren't allowed to call out the vile hate we've been getting without people coming on our blogs and questioning if we're secretly evil baby killing monsters or something.
If standing up against antisemitism that I've been through makes me a "zionist" (most of you don't know what that word means btw but that's not the point) then I guess there's no point in me even talking about how I do believe in Palestinian liberation or some form of a two state solution or a ceasefire (after the release of all hostages tho).
Y'all don't actually care about my political stance on this issue. You care that I'm q Jewish person calling out your antisemitism.

Addendum to my previous post so read that one so this can make sense (it wont anyway but it might help)
The pro Israel camp is very cool and chill with anti Arab, anti Muslim and anti Palestinian ideas and statements, with many of these people falling on both the left and the right, so lets start with "Well Muslims are actually all antisemitic and their religion is a bastardization of ours" and "We really feel sad about what's happening in your part of the world! Of course, it's entirely self-inflicted. you are facing the consequences of what happens when you elect and support Hamas" which is... a lot
First. Grouping an entire religion as one thing is pretty insane to me and I think it should be to anyone else. It would be like saying "All Jews are pro crimes because the IDF" saying something like that about any group of people is an insane thing to do.
Second. Does Islam copy a lot of stuff from Judaism, yes. does it do the same thing to Christianity, yes. are parts of Islam antisemitic, unfortunately yes. but saying that it is a bastardization of Judaism or that muslims are naturally antisemitic is pure madness.
Now some more moderate or left wing Zionists will say "Well obviously all that stuff is pretty racist and Islamophobic and I would never believe in any of that stuff" and to those people I would say, good job you're not a Kahanist or anything :)
Third. In 2006 Hamas was voted into power in the Gaza strip and in 2007 after the Gaza civil war they took over the strip as theocratic dictatorship in the model of Iran, now does that sound like Hamas is the democratically elected government of the Gaza strip? Also there is a hint of Operation Cyclone in the creation of Hamas but that's been talked to death (but not enough).
Now there have been and are many protests against Hamas's rule in Gaza before the Oct 7 massacre, a notable one being in July of last year which was due to the economy, power outages and Qatar not paying people (not much has changed) and as you would expect of a dictatorship this was put down very violently.
Fourth. Saying shit like "Well they deserve it for electing Hamas" they didn't "Well citizens followed the attackers into Israel" yes they did, but I don't think some 13 year old in Rafah was even near Israel so why are they dying? This sort of thinking is the same thing as "All Israelis deserved Oct 7th cause of the IDF and west bank settlers" same person on the different side.

People never fail to disgust me.
There is a tik tok creator, Elyse Meyers.
Her son who is a baby, has a hole in his heart and is undergoing open heart surgery for it and she made a video about it.
She had to turn off the comments as people kept posting about Palestine and how they do not care for her baby when people are dying in Palestine. People were also filling her comment section with comments about Bisan.
So many of her other videos have been bombarded with comments about Palestine. Including one where she is talking about finally accepting her curly hair and people are talking about Bisan and her curly hair.
It is absolutely vile that she got the type of comments she did and the amount of it.
Like can't a woman fucking be sad about her child undergoing a major surgery without all of her comments being filled with stuff about Palestine???
She has never made a video on the situation in Palestine and she does not make political content.
Her content has nothing to do with politics. It's about mental health and her life!
She is being harassed because she has not made a video on Palestine and people want her to.
And you know what? I'm glad she hasn't. She obviously feels like she is not educated enough to speak on the topic so she hasn't.
"She should educate herself"
She is a new mother which takes up most of her time. Especially so now as her child has undergone a major surgery.
She also needs to make money so she can support her baby.
Not everyone has time to educate themselves on the level to speak about the topic at hand. A 5 minute Google search is not enough research.
Would you rather she neglects her child so she can do the research to make one video????
Harassing Elyse does nothing for palestine.
If you care so much about influencers making videos, uplift the ones that do rather than harass people who have enough going on in their lives.

P.S. Ever heard of "Amin Al-Husseini"? He was the guy who INTRODUCED Nazism into the Middle East via his alliance with Hitler. They were close colleagues.
I linked the guys Wiki since that's the ONLY thing you kids read these days.

”Israel is continuing to pump seawater into tunnels throughout Gaza in its assault on Hamas’s labyrinth of tunnels, which experts warn could render Gaza uninhabitable for 100 years by contaminating underground fresh water.”

Another one blocked me for correcting their propaganda. @theivorybilledwoodpecker can't handle facts & resorted to blocking me because I could cite actual numbers. The healthy way to approach someone telling you the actual numbers isn't to block them. It's to listen & than debate. Argument is healthy, blocking all dissenters isn't.
I didn't even get into why I don't trust the numbers Hamas put out, only got as far as explaining that even if we took them as fact, this wouldn't qualify as a genocide & that indeed it's a lower civilian to military death ratio than what we would usually seen in urban combat, evidence that Israel is trying to reduce civilian casualties.

I keep seeing this myth that everything was hunky dory in the Middle East before Israel showed up, and this asinine idea that the only reason anyone would have misgivings about the safety of Jews in a theoretical one-state solution is out of racism against Arabs.
This so deeply rooted in an EMBARRASSING lack of historical knowledge that it honestly makes me want to pull my hair out. I am so fucking sick of people who do not do even the barest, most basic historical understanding of the history of Israel or of Palestine, or of Jewish history broadly or specifically in the Middle East, nonetheless making wildly popular and confidently incorrect posts about what they've heard other Tumblr and TikTok dipshits spout.

I keep seeing people say from the river to the sea. People I know IRL and online. And I genuinely think that they don’t think it’s antisemetic. I don’t think they are bad people, some of them have helped me through some really dark times and are why I’m now in therapy. I can’t comprehend this behavior from them! If they’re antisemitic, it’s definitely subconscious. Do you have any context or history or sources to help me understand this. Obviously you don’t have to or anything, I just wanted the opinion of a Jew.
Hey anon, I’m so sorry to hear that, i got you !
I’ve actually made a post about why it is antisemitic.
Tldr- The short answer is that it’s a translation of a popular Hamas chant, calling for wiping the Jews off the land of Israel.
There a few issues with this chant becoming popular right now:
-Context - ah yes, the Jewish People’s favourite word right now thanks to certain university deans …
Most of the people chanting this don’t know its origin , or even which river and sea are they talking about…
It is also important to note that it is usually chanted in violent mobs...
-they’re not aware of its antisemitic nature:
Ask yourself a few questions:
What do you think the phrase means? How will they free Palestine from Jews?
The extremists believe that “freeing Palestine” will be done with genocide at worst, and mass transfer of all Jews at best.
Maybe try to dismantle the actual non-democratic terrorist government that controls Gaza - Hamas?
Gazans have repeatedly said that Hamas is the issue, you don’t know better than them…
*If you believe the only Jewish state shouldn’t exist- that’s antisemitism.
*If you harass every Jew you see with this phrase- that’s antisemitism.
It’s not “anti Zionism* “, it’s antisemitism.
You don’t get to say what is antisemitic or not , Jews do.
*Zionism is the notion that the Jewish people have the right to live in their own country in Israel (Zion=another biblical name for Israel ).
its not a new concept either, unfortunately it is not being demonised … You can read more about it here:
Just because it’s trendy and it rhymes, doesn’t mean you should chant it without a second thought .
