The sad thing is she’s correct. If Helluva/Hazbin was run by a man she would have never been attacked the way she has been. As we found out with this election, people don’t care about women and do not see them as capable and worthy. The way people treat Viv and Spindlehorse is just proof of that.

Ok so I know its Mastermind Era but I'm still not over Ghostf*ckers and I need to get this out of my system.

We all know this episode focused more on Millies and Blitz' relationship, which was beautiful. I loved seeing our girl getting more screentime.

And I just found it interesting how there were subtle hints at her own struggles within the group. I mean, yes, there was the thing about how she felt like she was worth nothing and all she was good for was muscle and working for some higher class demons, but there is also this line from where she asks Loona to take care of Moxie :

Which to me was such an interesting line, because it meant that she basically acts as the mental support character for the boys, as a catalyst and someone who constantly has to look after them, make sure they stay out of trouble or feel ok. Which implies a lot of things that unfortunately go untouched but that would mean that Millie feels exhausted always being behind the boys backs and needing to take care of them, and has to juggle between taking care of Moxie and catalysing Blitz.

If it had time to be explored, I'd love to see how Millie has to navigate each of the boys tantrums and sensibilities and being careful and diplomatic in order not to send them off and trying to do her best catalyzing their temper and offering them comfort, and how this affects her and tires her.

I think that's super interesting, and also the fact that she and Loona could eventually work together in order to keep the boys out of trouble, taht Loona could support Millie in that.

I love it when someone talks about watching "Less Corporate Animation" (Indie Animation) and then mentions HB, TADC and MD as if they are the only indie animation that fucking exists

I know, shocking, but there are also animated shorts, and they don't get much attention… They can even be fucking stickmen, and they often tell more stories in a few minutes than full-length animations

Seriously, if you require animation at the level of TV and stemming, then I'm sorry, but you don't understand the beauty of indie animation, because it's not the HD graphics that are the key, but the plot

Seriously, I have the impression that when people talk about indie animations, they mean the most "Advanced" ones, and that's depressing, because really, a lot of animations are even on fucking YouTube, and it's really depressing, many of them come from Africa, Muslim countries, Asia ( Not Japan and Korea, but e.g. Thai ad Indie, yes, there are animations on YouTube, I've seen them), I also saw indie animations from my country (Poland)

It's not fair that animation has to be from English-speaking countries or of corporate quality for people to talk about it… Yes, I don't remember the titles, but I've seen them, they are often different from the mainstream ones, which makes it it's something new and fresh, unfortunately, it's better to talk about the famous ones…

I know I said I would shut up about hazbin, this blog isn’t really created for hazbin/helluva boss content and was created so I could write essays on whatever interested me - and I suppose hazbin is that current interest?

But for me Hazbin Hotel is the plummeting point of media literacy regarding the Bible. I know , I know “ it’s a comedy set in hell! Of course it’s not going to be THE SAME! It’s for fun! It’s Vivs own spin on hell!!”

It’s a poorly researched hell, where there is no love in the world and for some reason the devil himself and the seven sins ( bar Mammon so far ) don’t even act like sins. And if that’s the case, why are actual bad people down there when the demons REPRESENTING THE SIN aren’t even half as bad?

Dante’s inferno is a self insert AO3 fan fiction before AO3 ever existed, but Dante knew how to write and convey emotion in his poetry - he knew how to write hell and he was dedicated to representing not only hell but it’s counter part realms.

Hazbin hotel feels like a self insert AO3 fanfic show but with only the worst parts and no reward. The world building is shit. The characters aren’t developed enough and their arcs are rushed. I know they only had eight episodes, but they’re trying to do too much. Fiona and Cake had a similar amount I believe ( 8-12? I can’t remember I’m sorry) and it still stands as an amazing show exploring like six different characters in the time it needed.

Viv’s characters don’t feel personal. They don’t feel like they had the same passion or love for the source material. But worst of all, for a comedy? I don’t feel rewarded watching an episode of Charlie’s daddy issues being resolved and the king of hell signing off on her idea in roughly 22 minutes. And I don’t find it funny seeing one of my favorite characters being used in a rape joke right after we do an episode on how sexual exploitation is bad.

This is a very messily structured essay I’m aware. I’m not a huge Bible lover, I’m not a Christian, and I don’t think we should diminished the harm Christianity has done.

However, it is clear Viv has only focused on just that, the harm the Bible has brought and none of its messaging of love, none of the best literature it’s brought and none of the movements it’s genuinely impacted in a positive way. ( Lillith being used as a feminist symbol for Jewish women?)

TLDR;

I’m very tired of witnessing comedy shows set in hell with little to no care for how it’s said to be. I’m tired of media repeating itself and thinking it’s new and fresh because there’s gay people! It’s not. Viv’s hell isn’t a fun idea. Hazbin hotel isn’t fun unless you enjoy instant gratification and no work towards the reward.

You can tell that Alastor wasn't supposed to be creole in the pilot because if he was Angel dust would have called him a slur as a joke like he did with Vaggie and Charlie woulda told Al to calm down and said "You guuuys! Stop fighting!!!"

Finally watched Hazbin Hotel.

I've been procrastinating on watching Hazbin Hotel on Amazon since it premiered.

It's awesome and I love it. That is all.

I really like Millie by design, but her design is a thing of the past, wow.

A lot of people think Millie is taller than Blitz, but no, it's probably because of her ponytail hairstyle. She also had bags under her eyes before she joined the IMP team. She's gotten softer now.

I like that their relationship with Blitz was revealed and that Millie wants to be something more, like she said in the camp episode with Moxie. But I wish there were more episodes about the secondary characters, we already know all about Blitz.
