"Have someone punch Stolas in the face!"
"Stolas was wrong, too! He needs to learn a lesson!"
"Stop sympathizing Stolas! He deserves to be hurt, too!"
I will not resort to any of these things in my stories, okay? I am aware that Stolas is just as wrong as Blitzø was, but keep these kinds of comments to yourself, okay?

It really isn't hard to see why people ship Stolitz...
One thing I notice a lot of Anti-Stolitz shippers do is demonize one person over the other on what happened in Full Moon. Either Blitz is the most abusive asshole that was about to physically beat the shit out of Stolas, or Stolas is some rapist that got upset his victim didn't accept his grand love confession. Both of which are extremely bad takes.
If you blindly pick a side on who was right and who was wrong, than yeah it's no wonder you can't get aboard this ship and that's your own prerogative.
When people ask me why I ship Stolitz, I'll tell you why:
Because underneath all their resentment and anger they hold for one another, they both genuinely care so deeply about the other. Their interaction in the latter half of Apology Tour says as much:
Stolas, despite, having the right to completely blow off Blitz when he approached him. Chooses to instead hide Blitz's face as a way to protect him from being seen, just so they can have a chance to talk.
Despite how horribly Blitz treated him earlier in the day, Stolas still finds comfort just being held by him. Stolas still trusts Blitz, his little knight in shining armor to protect him.
Blitz is so gentle with Stolas throughout this interaction, when Stolas gets upset and falls dramatically off his lap, Blitz freaks out. The first thing Blitz does is curse at himself for fucking up, only to immediately get Stolas up on his feet and guide him to the couch.
Blitz does the right thing and allows Stolas to dance with BTB when he looks to him for permission because: Blitz understands that he wasn't in the right mindset to reciprocate the sort of affection Stolas was seeking at that moment, and because Blitz knew that Stolas deserved to have a night of fun.
BONUS:
This scene is so poignant and so powerful in my mind, that I honestly consider it one of the most beautifully heartbreaking moments of the show.
Blitz is forced to realize that by pushing people away, by building up all these walls that surround him, he essentially created this much carnage he never meant to.
To top it all off, this episode ends with Blitz letting Stolas go, even though he desperately doesn't want to.
(Someone give Blitz a hug please, my poor precious bean.)
I love the fact that these two men are genuinely what the other needs in their life.
A big reason as to why Stolas is in love with Blitz is because Blitz was the first person that introduced him to the concept of freedom. While Stolas just seemingly accepted his fate of dedicating his entire life to being a proper Prince of the Goetia.
Blitz wasn't like that, from the very beginning, Blitz was someone that dreamed of something bigger for himself, something better, something that usually an imp like himself could never hope to achieve. Blitz is a dreamer, and Stolas admired that.
As adults, Blitz taught Stolas that he had a right to pursue his own sense of freedom, that he didn't need to live a life trapped in the woes of being a Goetia in an abusive marriage.
Blitz, unknowingly, taught Stolas that he didn't need to be an owl trapped in a cage! Blitz taught Stolas that he had a right to pursue his own dreams, his own happiness.
If it wasn't for Blitz, Stolas would still be living that miserable life of conformity.
Even now, there's so much Stolas could learn from Blitz, and Stolas recognizes that: "Maybe there's somethin' here for us to glean. For you to teach, and me to try to learn."
What Stolas can do for Blitz, is be that pillar of support Blitz desperately needs in his life. Someone that will always be by his side when his self-hatred starts to take control.
Blitz needs someone in his life that can be there to remind him that he too has a right to be happy, that he too has a right to be loved.
And there is no person better for that job than Stolas, who *still* holds so much love for this little red lizard.
Stolas can be there to teach Blitz to be better for others, and be kinder to himself.
Also, low-key...
These two are so fucking hot together, like goddamn.

What in Hell is Bad
Which Devil's have praise kinks?
What in Hell is Bad Headcanons featuring the following Devils: Leraye, Juno P(Ppyong), Valefore, Eligos, Phenix, Amon, Stolas, Naberius, Morax, and Gamigin.
Warning: Praises Kink and horny devils!!!⚠️
Minors Not Interact With This Post!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leraye: Leraye will go out of his way to seek your praise. Leraye has extremely low stamina, after one round he's ready to pass out on the bed, but if you want him too he's more than glad to work, and overstimulate himself for your pleasure, he can't get over the sweet words you tell him when he's doing a good job!
"Ah~" Please! I can keep on going! We don't need to stop just yet~!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Juno P: Ppyong is eager to please as long as long as you touch him. Please touch him, he's so good for you, please tell him how good he's doing. Ppyong feels no shame and isn't a stranger to begging to get what he wants. When he's pleasing you tell him how good he is because all he wants is to be good for you!
"Touch me there! I promise that I'll be good for you! Just please touch me, I'm all yours!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Valefor: Valefor can be a bit greedy when it comes to your praise. He will do things that will make you praise him, he's always seeking your praise as if his life depends on it, he wants to hear those words all the time and can never get enough of it. He's yours, so he'll be good for you. The best way to praise him is to compare him to Mammon.
"Do I feel as good as Mammon? I do, that makes me so...happy..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eligos: Unlike the others, Eligos expects to be praised just for being alive. He's cute, and you should know that. Tell him that he's cute all the time. He thrives off of your praise and calling him cute. Please tell him that he's cute when he's taking you so well, soft tears running down his eyes with flushed pink cheeks. What's not to love!
"I- nugh~! Do I look cute when I take you? I'm doing good, right?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phenix: Phenix gets turned on by a lot of things, including praise. Anytime you praise him he cums right then and there! He already had a hard time controlling himself around you and praising him takes him right over the edge!
"Ahhh~... I can't hold it in when you talk to me like that!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amon: Amon's praise kink my not be as obvious, but if Amon is in love with you, he wants to be good for you. You probably won't realize that he has a praise kink at first, but Amon can't help but notice the throbbing in his pants anytime you tell him that he feels good. Before he falls in love with you, he usually seems overly tired and seemingly uninterested while having sex, but when he does fall for you, he's much more awake and active in giving you pleasure. His cock throbbing in his pants everytime you tell him he's making you feel good.
"Please tell me that you're close? I want to make you feel good..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stolas: Stolas so clearly has a praise kink, but he wouldn't dare tell you. He tries to hide it and pretend like nothing is wrong, but when you praise him, he can't help but shuffle, trying to calm down his boner. Stolas wants to be good for you, he wants you to feel good, he wants to be calm and collected but he loses himself in pleasure and let's it all out, he can't help but focus on the pleasure you bring him.
"Please, please, please, please, please!!! Keep going, ah~! I'm almost there! I'm gonna cum! Your good boy is gonna cum for you! Ah~ all for you!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Naberius: Naberius is calm and collected. He tries to keep calm and think rationally, but the moment you call him a good boy, he loses all his pride and sense of respect. He's on his knees for you and so desperately wants to be your good dog, it drives him crazy. You have him on a metaphorical and literal choke hold. He's willing to do anything to be your good boy no matter how embarrassing.
"Yes, yes, yes! I'm your good boy! I'm a good boy, I'm a good boy, I'm YOUR good boy!!!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morax: Morax lives to please you. All he wants to do is make you feel better. If you're stressed out, he's more than glad for you to take out all your frustrations on him. He doesn't mind how rough you treat him, but when you call him sweet names, his heart starts to flutter, and his dick gets harder. Please treat him sweetly, and he'll love you for life.
"Ah~ You can keep going, I'll be good and take it all..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Gamigin: If Gamigin still had a tail, it would be wagging every time you praised him. He's a good boy and loves it when you tell him he is. He will go out of his way to try and be better for you even though he's already doing amazing. All he wants to do is adore you!
"I can do more, I promise! Let me make you feel good, too..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A/N: Thank you to everyone who read this! I know it's a bit short, but I wanted to post! Hehe! I know the fandom is dying after the last update, but I still wanted to write for WHB!(´・ω・). I'm accept requests, so please don't be shy to ask for me to write anything! I love all or you, and have a nice day!(*>∇<)ノ
saw someone say stolitz is handled better in fanon than in canon because "there's not a lot of obvious signs of them falling in love." thoughts?
... what.
Not a... not a lot of signs of them falling in love??? My dude, my girlypop, my enby... ARE WE WATCHING THE SAME SHOW 🤣🤣🤣
I could write an essay about how obvious it is that they're both pining for each other, but I'll just make a list instead.
Stolas
Love at first sight
Brings Blitz and his coworkers to The Harvest Moon Festival just because (not to fuck or for safety, but just to be nice to them all)
Instinctively knows when Blitz is in danger ("I have my ways", oh, please, Stolas, you're keeping an eye on him cause you care)
Watches soap dramas while pining for Blitz
Is excited about their first date and goes all out with his looks for it
Wants desperately to actually TALK with Blitz
Asks Blitz about his day
Wants to hang out with Blitz just to hang out
Understands and validates the importance to Loona's shot despite being in actual danger himself
Has TWO songs about being hopelessly in love with Blitz
Goes out of his way to give Blitz a way to go to the human world without him even though he risks Blitz not wanting to see him anymore
Despite Blitz' initial rejection, Stolas doesn't cry until he thinks Blitz thinks low of him (proving that he was understanding if Blitz wanted nothing to do with him anymore
Despite being angry, sad, and drunk, Stolas still helps Blitz hide at the all of Blitz' exes party
Instinctively looks at Blitz for permission to dance with the "Better than Blitz" guy
Blitz
Millie calls Stolas Blitz' boyfriend (confirming she knows Blitz has feelings for Stolas)
Gets flustered when trying to explain his situationship with Stolas (if it was purely professional, why does it make him nervous to talk about?)
Despite only inviting Stolas on a date to spy on Millie and Mox, when Stolas tries to actually talk with him, he turns to face him and tries to talk too
Blitz is clearly very hurt after the Ozzie's incidence
Blitz immediately parties hard and tries to hook up with multiple after Ozzie's (a typical response to someone who is hurting romantically)
Gets flustered from seeing human Stolas (there's a tiny blush)
When Blitz realizes Stolas can actually get hurt, he looks terrified
The entire apology tour is legit just to prove something to Stolas (and himself)
Despite having hurt many people, Blitz clearly cares the most about having hurt Stolas
The way he looks at Stolas when he's confessing his love for him AND during their talk at the party
Gets hella jealous when Stolas kisses someone else
I haven't watched episode 10 yet nor the last two shorts, so I could probably add more to these lists, but even without those, there's plenty of proof of them falling in love.
Whoever said this must not be good at reading in between the lines. No shame, but... they're objectively wrong 😂
Apology Tour Made Blitz Do The Right Thing for The Wrong Reason
There's a common critique of Apology Tour I've seen regarding Verosika is that the fact that she went out of her way to create an entire annual party dedicated to shitting on her past ex makes her look overly obsessive. While at first glance I can see where this argument is coming from I'd like to disagree.
Blitzo has been frequently established as a fairly destructive person who thanks to his own self-hatred ends up hurting others and pushing them away, the fact that there's this many people in the party shows how destructive of a person Blitzo is, and we see that it's not just limited to his exes, but people in general who he hurt (like Dennis, for instance).
And Verosika is one of Blitz's later victims who Blitz bailed on after she told him she loved him, a very vulnerable moment for someone to be in, and that's the point where Blitz broke her heart. And so she created this party both out of spite for Blitz seeing how much of a horrible person he is and out of sympathy for his many victims who were just as heartbroken by him as she was. She created this party so she could help the people Blitz has hurt cope with what happened and heal from it, creating a sense of community amongst victims.
Apology Tour shows how much Blitzo damages people, how his self-destructive tendencies always end badly for both him AND his victim, leaving his victim broken and making him more broken, the fact there's a whole party made for the sole purpose of helping his victims cope shows that. And Blitz is forced to see how damaging of a person he truly is because of this...or at least, that's the route the episode should have taken.
Apology Tour is an episode with an absolutely fantastic set up with Blitz going to a party where he sees how many people he's damaged and chooses to start becoming a better person, but the problem is HOW the show gets him to see that. The show gets him to start to change himself...through Stolitz.
Blitzo realizes how he hurts others through seeing how he hurt Stolas, who Blitz previously just believed was some classist dick and nothing else only for Stolas to pour his heart out in a musical number, making Blitz realize that Stolas' feelings were genuine all this time and what he was saying to Stolas did, in fact, hurt him...
...at least that's how the writers want you to look at this scene. However, thanks to the general problems with Stolitz writing this development ends up falling flat on its face. The reason for why this development fails despite the perfect set up is because the show is holding Blitz accountable for something he isn't even in the wrong for in the first place. I've ranted about Stolitz many times before but I'll just repeat the same points because it's relevant for my argument here; Blitzo had no reason to ever think that Stolas' love for him was genuine.
Throughout the whole first season, Stolas consistently looked down upon and belittled Blitz, calling him demeaning pet names and always invading his boundaries even when Blitz says no, yet Stolas continues it anyway. YET, the show tries to paint Blitz as biased here because "oh he only hates Stolas for being a royal and is repressing his feelings for Stolas due to self-hatred" or some bullshit.
However, once you factor in the outside context, Blitz never comes across as biased here whenever he rants about Stolas, because he doesn't have a reason to believe Stolas has any genuine affection for him beyond some small, off-screen "nice things" he did for him, and even then, you can still look down upon someone while caring for them. The show wants to present Blitz as in the wrong here for "hurting Stolas' feelings" and being consumed in his bias, but that doesn't work because Blitz had no reason to believe that Stolas didn't look down on him when he literally did.
But despite Blitz not being in the wrong in the situation, he's portrayed as the abuser here and he's the one who apologizes to his abuser, and HE says that Stolas "deserves better than HIM", making Stolas out as the victim here in this situation when the context and framing say otherwise.
Speaking of Stolas, many people have torn him apart this episode already so I won't go that in-depth here, however, it's still relevant to my point. The episode portrays Stolas as sympathetic here when he isn't - in fact, Stolas comes across as extremely unsympathetic in this episode due to claiming that he "never looked down" upon Blitz despite doing that throughout all of season 1.
He THEN gets angry at Blitz for not saving him when Striker captured him even though 1. Blitz was busy and 2. HE LITERALLY SENT HIS CO-WORKERS TO SAVE YOU WHY TF ARE YOU MAD???
Stolas doesn't have a legitimate reason to be angry at Blitz due to the outside context - instead, all of his interactions with Blitzo in this episode come across as him playing the victim and gaslighting him. And All 2 U is the pure culmination of this. A song that is supposed to be the moment where Blitz realizes his mistakes instead comes across as Blitz being repeatedly gaslighted and guilt-tripped into apologizing to his abuser.
HE is treated as the problem, HE is treated as the one who is meant to apologize to Stolas, even though he is NOT IN THE WRONG FOR THIS IN THE SLIGHTEST. Yet, the show ignores past interactions for this to work. It doesn't address anything Stolas did beyond just making the deal - it acts as if that was the only bad thing he ever did even when Stolas did more than just that to Blitz.
Yet, that's never called out by anyone. Stolas doesn't have a good or sympathetic reason to be mad at Blitz - yet the show treats him as another one of Blitz's victims anyway. So, Blitz was essentially gaslit into becoming a better person, which isn't really great writing. Apology Tour had all the ingredients of a fantastic episode but it's severely held back by this specific aspect, Stolas drags the episode down so much and it sucks that the Stolas crap in the episode has to be tied to Blitz's development. Blitzo should have seen his mistakes through someone who actually had valid and sympathetic reasons to dislike him, someone who does actually come across as a person deeply hurt by Blitz's actions.
In other words....Verosika. Verosika should have been the character they used here, not Stolas. Verosika has an actually good reason to dislike Blitz and one the audience could actually sympathize for, SHE should have been the character to get Blitz to realize his mistakes and decide to change and grow as a person. Have All 2 U be sung by her instead of Stolas, with the song detailing how Blitz met and Blitz broke her heart.
Seriously, the concept of the begining scene and All 2 U can work, but they'll work better if you replace Stolas with Verosika in them instead, because Verosika has a good reason to dislike Blitz that could easily be expanded upon and developed, and Blitz would've had better reasoning to become a better person rather than being gaslit and guilt tripped into it. Apology Tour had all of the ingredients for a fantastic episode but the Stolass trash drags it down HARD.
Happy 14th of February!
Sitri: ¡Solo...!
Paimon: How pretty you look todaaaay! *Scratches Sitri and pushes him out of sight* Weeell, today is a special day, because this is the first Valentine's Day you're with uuuus. So, I wanted you to accompany me just for a...
Zagan: ... *He arrives suddenly at your side, with a small box decorated meticulously in one of his hands, which he extends to you silently, but before you could see it clearly, a shot is heard from the distance, and the pink box disappears.*
Leraye: That's so unfair! They didn't even wait for...!
*And before you could hear the end of Leraye's complaints, or even register another movement, you dived underground. Pink ribbons kept rising on your body, until finally you emerged from the ground.*
Eligios: You're finally here! The best thing would be to hide you before...
Bimet: Don't even think about it, you cheap bastard, she'll get my...!
Valefor: It is clear that you are both wrong. She will get first what I worked so hard to do.
Foras: I've got you. *He holds you in his arms, and cuts the ribbons, before entering the space inside the coffin.* Walk with me for a moment please, soon we will be in Hades and...
*You look at Glasyalabolas, who was standing in front with his arms crossed.*
Glasyalabolas: You weren't thinking of cheating, were you?
Foras: ... I brought her here first, so I have the right to be the one to give her my...
Barbatos: Solomon's daughter won't disappear whether you give her chocolates first or not, won't you accept my present first?
*A bright smile shows on his mouth, before he gives you a deep, lighthearted kiss. He holds you by the waist, pulls you away from Foras quickly, before some tentacle struck Barbatos and leads you into the corridors of Hades with a humming hum.*
Barbatos: I hope they don't take you from one place to another, so let's sort that out first before we....
Marbas: With your permission, descendant of Solomon. *He holds you affectionately from behind your back and his chin touches your shoulder.
Stolas: Solomon's daughter has an engagement with Abyssos. *A raven is placed over your head.* It's only fair that Abyssos should have his guest back.
Barbatos: This palace belongs to Hades and...
Marbas: I refuse. Paradise Lost is waiting for Solomon's descendant...
Morax: Anyway... It is not important for you to go anywhere, always... You can choose where to stay. *He came closer, breathing irregularly, before the pretty cheeks were stained red. The skin under the bandages was more interesting than Marbas, Barbatos and Stolas' fight* I came as fast as I could, I just want to hand you over....
*White fur covers your sight, and a long tongue runs all over your face. Morax helps you remove the Dog god, and you laugh, when the color of his skin becomes more reddish.*
Buer: Looks like he filled you with slime... I'll clean you. *A broad smile greets you, and Buer's fingers slide down your cheeks* By the way, can I give you my chocolate too. It may not be much, but I'd like to give you a present from me. Would you accept it?
*Before you could open your mouth, the Dog god lifts you up with his snout and makes you climb on top of him. You try to hold on, before you fall, and he left Hades' palace at full speed. The god seemed to have no course in mind, before another dog, with three heads, pushed the god away.*
Amon: Dogs. *He sighed, as he pulled you away from the dog fight, with Naberius and the white fur rolling on the ground.* How about eating something delicious? I saved it for...
Naberius: Don't you dare! *You turned your head in the direction of Naberius' furious shout, before the giant dog appeared again.*
Amon: We'd better go before he starts coming. *He whispered, as he grabbed you and flew too fast to realize you were already in Abyssos, entering the palace.* Hasn't anyone given you anything yet? Then, can I be the first to give you...
Bael: Do you want some chocolates?
*You turn your head, and stare at Bael. Your mouth waters at the sight of the sexy demon in an apron, spreading a strangely shaped tray on it.*
Stolas: *Suddenly arrives and throws the tray* What the fuck! Do you want to poison her?
*You, Amon and Bael look at the chocolates on the floor.*
A little late, but I had fun. I even overslept today after the horrible time with exams. 😵💫
But finally, I hope you enjoyed it! I don't know if I'll post an illustration, and I'm sorry if I didn't cover the kings, nor the other demons besides these, but it was more out of ignorance than not wanting to.
I already had this idea saved for you guys, that's why I didn't write any nsfw for the moment, but anyway.
Angelic Rip Off - Hazbin Hotel
AN: Okay, so, this is just like....a testing concept I guess? something that came to mind after talking over theories and such with @lpwrites about what's going on, and i thought this would be a fun reader to explore! i dunno if it's gonna be a series, but at least its something fun to maybe add to. this part here i guess serves as the...set up?? if you're curious about anything that happens in it, lemme know and I'll expand - i just threw this together at midnight so...yeah :D lemme know what you think Contains my own headcanons Warnings: Swearing, Violence, Spoilers
A million thoughts went through your head when you spotted Lilith being escorted into Heaven.
The first was of Lucifer. Most of them were of Lucifer, if you were being honest with yourself. How he wasn’t with her, which meant he was alone, which meant something went really fucking wrong if she was in Heaven on her own. Though not alone, which as your next though as you trailed after her and the angels that escorted her – fucking Adam was there, chattering away about something you couldn’t hear from the distance.
That made it double bad.
You were so caught up in your thoughts about what Lilith being in Heaven meant that you didn’t realize you were being too loud. Lute whipped around, glaring as she barred your way from continuing forward.
You stopped short. “Move,” you demanded.
“No.”
“I think you forget your place, which isn’t in front of me, so fucking move.”
“How about you eat shit and stop fucking following us.”
“Excuse me?”
Adam appeared behind her like a cursed shadow, the grin of his mask far more disturbing than it should’ve been. “Is there a problem here?” he asked, gripping Lute’s shoulders to move her. He shifted as he did, giving you a glimpse of Lilith entering an elevator far down the road, with Sera at her shoulder.
The angel’s eyes widened as her gaze locked with yours before the doors slid shut.
Lute stepped to one side of you. Adam, the other.
The silence that pressed in from the street finally told you how you saw something you shouldn’t have been able to see. You exhaled slowly, closing your eyes.
The days following were a blur – it didn’t matter that you’d spun the cosmos into existence, that you’d had an impeccable record for thousands of years, or that you didn’t actually fucking do anything – you were dragged in front of the angelic council with claims of rebellion. Adam and Lute provided testimony that you’d been conspiring to overthrow the seraphim and install yourself in their place, that your age and knowledge of the universe gave you more right to head it than anyone else.
Sera looked you dead in the eye as she found you guilty and dropped you from Heaven.
You landed in the immaculate front yard of one of the Goetia. It took months for him to help you heal correctly – your wings were a disaster for longer than that, all six of them shattered from the fall – but Stolas was happy to assist you, especially when your hand in creating something he loved about the world came to light.
He was less than thrilled when you told him that you needed an audience with Lucifer once you were fully healed almost a year after you crashed.
“Um, no,” he said, turning away from you, releasing the wing he’d been helping you to stretch.
You fluttered the appendage as it settled against your back with the other five, frowning at his statement. “Why not?” you asked. You stood. “You’re a prince of Hell. You’re more than qualified to ask for an audience – it’s practically standard right? You have meetings all the time.”
“Well, yes, of course we do, it’s required to ensure Hell runs smoothly,” he said as he turned back to you. You arched an eyebrow. “As smoothly as it can,” he corrected.
“So, what’s the problem?” you demanded, “I need to speak to him, and I have no foothold here, I have no power. You can sponsor me!”
“I can,” he agreed. He rubbed his claws together, glancing over his shoulder as he quickly waved them at you – keep your voice down.
You crossed your arms, folding into yourself as you perched on the edge of the bed. You were a secret to his wife – one he shared with his very curious daughter. He’d been terrified the day Octavia had stumbled upon you stashed away in one of the many rooms of the mansion, but you’d charmed her with your stories of the stars and galaxies that existed beyond Hell, and his worry had faded. “Why won’t you?” you whispered.
“When’s the last time an angel fell from Heaven, hm?” he asked as he gently sat next to you.
You pressed your wings tighter to your back. “That’s the whole point – that’s why I need to speak with him,” you murmured. You look up at your friend, whose wide red eyes stare at you with obvious concern. “Please, Stolas. I wouldn’t be asking for such a large favor if it wasn’t important.”
He rubbed his claws together again. “If you leave, you won’t be able to come back here,” he sighed. He leaned against his knees with a guilty slump to his shoulders. “It’s far too dangerous to sneak you in a second time,” he explained.
“I know,” you replied, “I wouldn’t want you to trouble yourself again for me. You’ve done far too much as it is.”
He smiled. “You’re my friend, my dear. I’d move stars for you, if I could.”
“I’d move them for you again,” you replied with a smile.
“You’ll visit, though?” he asked after a long moment of silence, “If all goes well.”
“Well, I can’t really leave Hell, Stolas,” you said, “And you’re my friend. Of course I’ll visit you.”
His feathers fluffed, and he smiled.
He didn’t hesitate in making the meeting after that. He made sure that it sounded urgent, said, “It cannot wait, sir, the sooner that we can meet, the better.”
You vaguely heard the reply of, “I have time this afternoon.”
Stolas escorted you, making sure that you would be alright once you were done, ensured that you knew multiple places that you could stay if Lucifer didn’t open his doors to you.
He hugged you before you entered the gates of Lucifer’s palace. You returned it fiercely, and promised to call him before the day was done. He passed you off to an imp waiting nearby, insisting that you were attending the meeting in his place, and disappeared.
You were led inside without a word.
The imp scurried off once you were led into the parlor, leaving you to look around the room unsupervised. There were large portraits with a very familiar Lucifer and equally familiar Lilith, and a young woman you didn’t recognize. There were plenty of apple motifs around the room, balancing out the wallpaper covered in patterns of long trees. It was a lovely parlor, and you wondered how much of it was Lucifer’s decorating or Lilith’s.
Though, if she had left him in Hell, you weren’t sure you cared too much about her decorating choices.
“Prince Stolas,” came a bored but familiar drawl, “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
You turned to the door that the imp had disappeared through. He hadn’t changed. He looked a bit taller than when you’d last seen him, though he had been dragged through the very empty streets of heaven at that time. He was dressed sharper, but didn’t wear a smile until he finally looked up from the floor to meet your gaze.
Then he froze.
Lucifer didn’t know what to say when he saw you in his palace. There was supposed to be a gangly owl Goetia standing in his parlor, not an angel, and especially not one he’d been ashamed to say he missed over the last ten thousand years. He hadn’t seen you since the day before his fall. You’d both watched the stars you had worked so hard to make move across the sky as you talked about what you both hoped the world would be, and he told you about Lilith, and Eve, and the Garden, and joked about Adam.
“I know,” he remembered you saying, “You told me when it happened, Luci.”
“Well, you can’t blame a guy for being excited!” he’d replied. He’d sighed, leaned into your shoulder, and wistfully told you how beautiful she was. And you had told him how happy you were for him.
No, he thought as he sluggishly moved forward, eyes scanning over your face. No, the last time he’d see you was when you’d been running after him while the angels had dragged him before the council.
He whispered your name as he got closer, glancing at the door behind you, then laughed nervously. “Is this a joke?” He moved around you, staying close to the wall of the parlor as he inched towards the door. “Lil?” he laughed again, “You playin’ a prank? You come home and bring me an old friend?”
“Luci,” you whispered.
“No, no, no,” he said, shaking the apple atop his cane at you. “You’re not supposed to be here!” he trills, turning back to you, “You’re supposed to be in Heaven! You’re supposed to be there—”
“Where Lilith is?” you cut in.
He audibly swallowed.
You moved towards him, stopping short when he backed up against the wall. “They kicked me out, Luci,” you said with a sigh, “About a year ago, I saw Lilith up there, and I questioned it, and they put me in front of the council and kicked me out.”
Lucifer all but lunged towards you, dropping his cane as he gripped your arms. “You saw her? Is she alright? Did they hurt her?”
You squeezed his arms with a frown. “No, she was fine. Sera was escorting her somewhere, what?” your frown deepened, “Why was she there in the first place, Luci? What happened?”
His grip on your arms tightened for a moment. Turning, he guided you towards a couch set near the fireplace in the parlor. He moved for you to sit, then fell into the spot next to you.
“Heaven asked for a meeting,” he sighed, pulling his hat from his head, “Said that they were worried that, with our growing number of Sinners, we would start a rebellion.”
“What?” you asked. You shook your head. “That’s never come up. Who…”
“Sera,” he said, slumping, “And Adam, of course, can’t keep his nose out of people’s business.” He fiddled with the snake on the edge of his hat. It slithered, it’s head resting on his hand. “They wanted to come down and do a mass extermination. Wipe out,” he paused, his breath hitching in his throat, “Wipe out everyone. From the imps to the sins.”
“That would change the face of Earth,” you said, shaking your head, stuttering over your worlds, “That would change everything.”
“We know,” he whispered. He scrubbed his hand over the back of his neck. “We made a deal. All of the hellborn would be safe from the extermination,” he said. He smiled, weakly, looking up at you, “We have a child, you know. A girl. Her name’s Charlie, and she’s amazing.”
You blinked slowly. Your heart twisted in your throat at the news, realizing why the girl in the portraits looked so familiar, but you smiled and whispered, “You’ll tell me all about her, I’m sure,” followed by, “She went in exchange.”
“Lilith did, yeah,” he replied, “Said that we couldn’t just include Charlie in the deal, we had to include everyone. She’s attached to them all, like they’re her own children, too.”
You sat back, sliding your hands over your face as you sighed, “Because she’s the mother of all demons.”
“Exactly,” he groaned. He flopped back next to you, allowing the snake to crawl over his fingers. “So, she’s there. Collateral or…a hostage, I dunno. She offered herself up. Not that there was a choice, there was no fucking way they were letting me back in under any circumstances.” He slumped. “I’m glad you’re here, though,” he said with a small smile, “I’ve missed you, starlight.”
You leaned against his shoulder. “I’ve missed you, too, sunshine,” you whispered. You held your hand out for the golden snake to investigate. “I’m here now, you know. I’ll help you however I can.”
“Thank you,” he replied. You both watch the snake wrap around your wrists in lazy circles. “I’ve made, like, a shit ton of rubber ducks ever since Lilith left. You wanna see them?” he suddenly said, breaking the comfortable silence.
“Is this because you can’t see the ducks on Earth?” you asked with a slow smile.
“Obviously. I worked so hard on them, I’m fucking furious that I can’t see them," he scoffed, shifting, a large pout on his face, "And there’s no ducks here, I can’t get them to thrive, it’s annoying.”
You snorted. Gently pulling your hand free from the snake, you patted Lucifer’s knee and stood. “Show me your ducks,” you stated, “And tell me all about Charlie.”
the third act break up
helluva boss isn't a romance but it also kind of is, and if we're considering romance genre tropes/structure, we're mid-third act break up right now.... which is one of my least favorite tropes BUT in this case, it's being played well and the writers are using it to genuinely deepen/further blitz's character
just in comparison, i'm almost finished reading this book that lowkey highkey sucks - i'm not gonna name it, i don't like shitting directly on a book usually, but it's the 3rd in a series of romance books & in it we ofc have the third act break up done in a bad way. (pls don't take this as me shitting on the romance genre at all, i adore romance books, i even liked this author's first book)
1, the stakes: the stakes for blitz & stolas (relationship-wise) are like kinda mundane really but feel so fucking high because we see how genuinely they feel for each other and we've watched that change over the course of the show - especially here in season 2. when it comes to stakes, they don't have to literally be life or death, they just have to feel that way to the characters and then by extension to us.
"when i see him tonight" gave us the stakes, that song alone solidified how much this relationship means to both of them. "i'll fucking die alone if this goes bad" - yes, thank you stolas, i feel that.
in comparison, in this book, the stakes are shaky. the mc is a woman who's never felt good enough to be loved & doesn't want a traditional relationship that ends in marriage and children & the love interest is an actor with big dreams that gets an offer to do a show across the country. we're being told they're high, but it's not really being SHOWN. i don't feel it, i don't feel like these characters will really fucking die if one of them moves across the country for six months, y'know?
2, the miscommunication/lack of communication: another trope i hate is miscommunication/lack of communication - unless it makes sense.
in the book, love interest never tells mc about the job offer - but for why? it gets blamed on her anxiety disorder, which i also took issue with the portrayal of that, but it never digs deeper into why she really feels like telling mc about the job offer could negatively impact their relationship. (it's still new, it might make the mc feel pre-abandoned, etc. etc there are so many ways this COULD have been something to not mention, but instead.... she just didn't)
blitz & stolas? they literally just can't sit down and have a calm chat, and that makes fucking sense for them as characters. @rusty-lustful-fireflies made this post comparing their trauma responses that i thought was brilliant -def check it out, and in the meantime i'll summarize it like this: blitz lashes out and stolas folds in. their conversation in full moon is one of the best examples of a misunderstanding between two characters i've seen, they are both taking each other's words the wrong way, but it makes sense as to why they're doing that. when stolas asks for the grimoire back, blitz immediately jumps to abandonment, he's lost everyone in his life and he has this one really really good thing going with stolas that he doesn't want to change and bam. it's changing. he's angry. he's going to say it.
stolas... could have worded things better, i understand why that was blitz's first thought, but stolas was trying to make it this grand gesture and it just wasn't hitting your audience, sweetie. blitz wasn't made for grand romantic gestures, he's a ball of trauma. and he acts accordingly. and stolas, in response, realizes "i've buffed it", is probably triggered from getting yelled at considering HIS own trauma.... i could deep dive their conversations at the end of FM and the beginning of AT, but we've all analyzed those to death. we get it. the point is... it made sense. neither of them were technically in the right or the wrong, it was just genuinely not being able to effectively communicate because they were both heightened and thus... we get the third act break up that's not really a break up. which brings me to...
3, the aftermath/development: yes, the third act breakup is meant to be the thing that pushes our characters to actually fix something within themselves... and we're still mid break up, but with ghostfuckers, i think we can see that being done. one thing specifically stood out to me as evidence that this is something more significant to blitz than any usual fight or breakup.
this post from @timkontheunsure was the first one i saw discussing this part, and i've gotta say i agree wholeheartedly with it & i think this is the beginnings of genuine development for blitz. to summarize in my own words (but def go read their post too):
blitz isn't just fucked up on the idea of being/dying alone anymore, when he was fucked up on that he just went to find someone else to fuck and forget it. no, now blitz is fucked up on not having stolas specifically, and it's much deeper, to the point that he's beyond just fucking someone else to forget it. no one else could do it. he's gotta turn to the ghosts. it's the difference in coping that we're shown that makes this moment different, and this moment being different, in addition to blitz finally admitting verbally that he's fucked up over stolas in that last moment with millie, that leads me to believe we're going to get genuine character growth over the next two episodes.
and this was what made me start thinking and typing up this post, because i'm nearing the end of this book, we're mid third act breakup, and this mc is similar to blitz in her desires to have a relationship but not the way everyone expects her to have one, and in her favorite method of coping: fucking someone else until she's not sad anymore. this is how she meets the love interest, and she tries to use it again mid-book when she & love interest are fake dating and she's sad that they're not real dating - and, then, we get the break up, love interest is gone.... and she turns right back to "i gotta find someone else to fuck to get over it".... and normally i probably wouldn't have thought twice, but this time i did. because we got that fucking beautiful example of the difference between coping with being lonely & coping with being without the person you love in ghostfuckers yesterday and it was SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS FUCKING BOOK.
anyway, this is my dissertation on how this animated demon show that's not technically a romance just took a romance trope & is really doing it so much better than the literal romance book i'm reading right now.
hope you liked it. thank you for your time!
off the cuff thoughts about the episode (& bit of a rant, sorry!):
first bits with IMP talking about the grimoire & Stolas really drive home Blitzo was only ever doing it for the book - he sounds happy about having some months off, the others don't imply Stolas is into him romantically and are actually worried about losing their entire business (to the point they followed him!)
some of the bits with CHERUB were actually sort of fun
some good jokes
nice to see Fizz call Blitzo 'buddy'
then the worst scene in the episode is the one where Stolas gives Blitzo the crystal. He gives this whole speech acknowledging the full moon deal is wrong but pretty crucially doesn't say the actual words 'I'm sorry' or 'I'm sorry for how I treated you' or 'I shouldn't have treated you like a sex object'
then it's all down hill from there. He immediately gets indignant that Blitzo thinks he's trying to do roleplay and is annoyed Blitzo made it about sex when he's conditioned Blitzo to think that way
then when Blitzo rightfully calls him out for his bullshit he turns it around and says he 'thinks so highly of him but didn't realize Blitzo thought so love of [Stolas]'. like what is this self-victimizing BS??? he's calling Stolas out on how he treated him and Stolas immediately starts crying and refuses to hear it.
like what good partner material he is, first he makes Blitzo majorly panic about his business (did he seriously not notice that desperate little 'I'll do anything'???), dumps a major status quo and a confession on him (still without saying a single thing he likes about Blitzo, good job on the dialogue there) and then just walks off the second Blitzo doesn't immediately get on board with what he wants now
worse still, when he busts out the manipulative self-serving tears Blitzo sounds like he's about to say 'Stolas I'm s-[orry]' right before he gets thrown out, which...ugh. Can the show please stop making Blitzo apologize to Stolas when he hasn't done anything wrong???
as usual the bits of the ep without Stolas in were mostly fun, nothing too annoying or out of place this time, but unless the song Stolas sings in Apology Tour is reflecting on how he treated Blitzo to make him feel that way and showing some actual self awareness and empathy Blitzo is far, far better off without him and nothing will change my mind on that
(on a brighter note, dear god was it satisfying to hear Blitzo set the record straight with Stolas. He got to call him out for the classism, just wish the show had let him call out Stolas for using the fact he was getting shot at - and not caring about it - to coerce him into sex. Like gee I wonder why he thinks Stolas don't care? I wonder why he thinks 'so low' of him?? Because he behaved in a low despicable manner and Blitzo absolutely deserves to be able to yell about it
RIP Blitzo's 10 seconds of agency, dignity, and freedom to stand up for himself. They were fantastic while they lasted.
I wanted to share thoughts and analysis on Full Moon (the last scene, at least).
I'll start with saying at the end of the day, I'm gonna be partial to Stolas in this since Blitzø hurt him pretty bad, but I will defend them both. Because the situation is complicated, and Blitzø is also hurting.
Blitzø obviously did and said extremely hurtful things, but I want to break down his actions since he's the one who's not upfront with how he feels.
(Please no discourse on my post. I'm just sharing my personal opinions and interpretation.)
I'll start at when Stolas asked for the grimoire back.
Blitzø is confused and unhappy about the situation. He's clearly uneasy with how Stolas is acting. Understandable. However, he doesn't exactly handle the situation in the best way.
The first thing he does is question if it's because he's skipped the past few nights. The tone he uses feels kind of manipulative (a trait he does possess), especially how he talks about being busy (which assuredly isn't the full truth even if true. With some of the stuff he says earlier in the episode, I'm pretty sure he's been avoiding having to talk to him. He seems to feel like there's maybe something wrong, and doesn't want to face it or make things more complicated).
Blitzø is scared to lose the book, obviously, but I think it becomes pretty clear that it's not the book that is his main worry, but Stolas. Sure, it's a big part of the initial panic but I feel like his reaction would've been more angry than scared and worried if that was the main thing.
The second thing he does after Stolas tells him to hand it back is offer to fuck him. Telling him how good it'll be. How he doesn't disappoint. Because that's how he deals with this stuff. Seduction to get what he wants (like he did the night he stole the book). Because he thinks that's what Stolas wants. Because if he fucks him real good, then Stolas will still want him here. But Stolas makes it clear that sex isn't want he's after.
Once Blitzø has the stone, that scared and upset feeling goes away. He's genuinely happy and thankful that Stolas did such a kind and considerate thing. At least for a moment.
When Stolas tells him that they are no longer bound to an agreement, he starts to panic. He's worried that he's not good enough. He's scared that Stolas is done with him. He says he can do better. You can hear the desperation in his voice.
Stolas assures him that he's not doing anything wrong and thats not why he was doing this. That he was doing it because wanted him to be able to make his own choice to stay. To make it right and fair. Because he cares so deeply for him.
I'm very happy at how upfront he was about it all. He told him he was under no obligation to stay, and you can see the fear in Blitzø's eyes when he says this. He thinks Stolas doesnt want him around anymore. But Stolas almost immediately clarified that he still wanted him to stay.
And you can see it on Blitzø's face how much Stolas's words do mean. You can see it's something he wants to hear, his expression goes so soft. He so desperately wants it to be true but absolutely refuses to believe that it is.
So he turns it back to what he's comfortable with. The thing he admittedly focuses on when he feels like he's getting in his own head. Sex.
Obviously Stolas must be trying to roleplay, because how could he have feelings like that toward him? That must be it. He's so in denial of the reality of it, he will not allow himself to see it.
Until it hurts Stolas. Until Stolas makes it very clear that he was being serious and honest.
What Blitzø did is awful and hurtful. It seems almost mocking knowing that what he's 'roleplaying' is real to Stolas. The "I love you" is especially devastating. He most definitely was not trying to hurt Stolas here. You can see on his face that he's unsure in what he's doing when he starts to talk. And when Stolas stops him, you can see the disappointment and sadness as realized he did the wrong thing.
But he was convincing himself that what Stolas said wasn't true. Because any thought otherwise seems impossible to him.
He's wrong, though. And I completely understand why Stolas kind of just shut down here. That's like a knife to the heart.
And Stolas explains why. Explains that even though he's wanted him for so long, for Blitzø to only see sex in what he says and does was pretty telling to how he viewed their relationship. And that crushed him.
The moment Blitzø realizes that he was serious, his whole view shifts. He gets upset. Very upset.
The one thing I will wholeheartedly stand by Blitzø saying is when he asks if he could give him a fucking minute (Now I disagree with what follows, but I'll get back to that.). Stolas did drop kind of a big thing on him, something that shattered everything he had told himself. And then walked away, which isn't exactly fair.
Again, I don't fault Stolas for walking off, not wanting to hear more, saying he had his answer. Blitzø was unintentionally hurtful, and he's upset and devastated. But at the same time, he really didn't give Blitzø any time to process what was happening and what he was telling him.
He probably didn't think he needed to because interpreting what Blitzø did at face value would be exactly how he interpreted it. And he's not fully wrong that Blitzø sees things as sexual. He purposely sees them that way. But what happened shouldn't be taken at face value. Though Stolas had no way of knowing that.
Now back to what follows that. He says some pretty shit things to Stolas. He's upset and lashes out at him.
The things he says aren't fair nor are they correct. He's projecting his issues with royals in general onto Stolas. He has a dislike for nobility, one that stems from feeling like they step on the little people and don't care about how their 'lessers' feel. That they don't give a shit about imps like himself. The image he's built of Stolas is completely warped by his view on royalty. Fizz has even called him out on it ("It sounds like you just hate him for being a prince").
One of the things that stood out was his line about how he can't treat him like one of his imp butlers and just dismiss him away. He feels like Stolas is throwing him away. Stolas is very clearly leaving because he's hurt, but Blitzø takes it as a kind of rejection. (Like at Ozzie's, he can't see clearly what's going on.)
As I mentioned before, I think the main fault Stolas's has in this situation is not giving Blitzø any time to process and understand everything that was currently happening. He shouldn't have sent him away. He should've at least listened to what Blitzø was trying to say. Tried to understand what he might be feeling.
Because Blitzø was trying to apologize. Once he saw how much his words affected Stolas, saw him crying because of the things he did and said, he realized he fucked up. And honestly, he needed to see that. He needed to know that his actions and words can and do hurt Stolas.
But I don't blame Stolas for teleporting him away, even though I think he was wrong in doing so. Blitzø basically twisted the knife that had already pierced his heart. It broke him. Hearing how lowly Blitzø (incorrectly and through his own convincing of himself) thought of him shattered him. Because how could a relationship be any kind of possible if the other person thinks you're shitty and awful? And to hear that from someone you respect and care so deeply for is so incredibly heartbreaking.
It's why I'm on Stolas's side (not that there even needs to be sides). He was trying to do the right thing. He was being kind and caring. He didn't really do anything wrong, but still got so deeply hurt.
But I can't really blame Blitzø, even though I think he's in the wrong here. Even though he caused a lot of pain to someone who only wanted good for them both. He's hurting too. He's a very broken person with a lot of issues he hasn't worked through. His actions and words were awful and mean. But he's struggling. This isn't an easy situation for him. He couldn't even comprehend someone loving him because he hates himself so much.
It's why he lied to himself about Stolas. Because how can that be true? And because you can't get hurt if you don't actually get close to someone. If you pretend that it's nothing and doesn't matter, it can't hurt you when it inevitably falls apart.
But they aren't true, the things he's been telling himself. And that sends him reeling. The realization comes crashing down, and feelings just come pouring out.
The situation is messy and complicated. And I feel for them both.
#not important to the post#but Blitzø challenging Stolas to fight is surely an interesting way to handle things#what did you think would come out of that?#how could that possibly help?#also he'd kick your ass bud#hes super powerful#helluva boss#stolitz#stolas#blitzø#blitzo#blitz#stolas goetia#helluva boss spoilers#wicked hb#wicked writes
What do you think of the HH/HB google leaks? Any thoughts on them?
Sorry that it took me a while to reply to this. Had to sort out my thoughts.
Someone kinda asked me the same thing about HB leaks. About what I thought about it or if I've seen it? I've written a few paragraphs containing that question. I'm not gonna spoil whatever I saw in those leaks to the people who are reading this, but the gist of it is that I'm fully convinced that Helluva Boss will possibly NEVER improve. The writers (and you know who I'm talking about) don't seem to care at all about us critiques or what we have to say about this show. They don't bother to look over anything that might need improvement and they probably seem to think they've made the greatest masterpiece of all time. Apparently, the fans seem to think so too, and that's why there will probably be no improvement.
HB might as well be a routine of what happens in these episodes.
A**holes like Blitzo, Stolas, or Loona act inappropriately, how they're acting seems to affect those around them, someone calls them out and they start to realize the error of their ways and the episode makes it seem like they're going to change for the better only for them to not learn a damn thing and go back to being a**holes to everyone the next episode.
Everyone makes fun of Moxxie, Moxxie starts to feel insecure or inferior, suddenly he has one of those moments where gets a change of heart and starts to toughen up, the episode makes it seem like he's going to start being brave from now on only for the next episode to repeat the same plot point and we go back to Moxxie learning how to stand up for himself.
Octavia is a depressed teenager who is bothered by her father and the things that he's done that affected her. Whether or not she runs away, she's pissed off at him for the rest of the episode. By the end of the episode, someone gives her a pep talk and makes excuses for Stolas's actions and she starts to get a change of heart and forgive her father, the show ONCE AGAIN using Octavia as a plot point to make us pity Stolas and make it seem like he's a misunderstood, innocent, uwu sweetheart who doesn't mean any harm and only wants love.
Millie is just Millie....
And that pretty much explains the leaks that I've seen. So yeah... no kind of improvement whatsoever. (Though, the Octavia thing is a bit different).
As for Hazbin Hotel, I'll just speak about the ones that caught my attention the most....
I've been looking forward to this upcoming show for a while. My hype for it doesn't click as much as it used to, but I still would feel excited a little bit every time I see an update or something. Can't say I consider it to be the greatest show ever, cuz it has a lot of flaws that I've noticed too, but I do consider it to be more entertaining and interesting than Helluva Boss.
I'm fully convinced the HH might just falter as a show altogether somehow like HB, but all I could do is just hope for the best of this soon-to-be tv series.
As for what I think of the leaks? Well, for starters.....
Like I said, I'm not gonna give any details about the leaks. However, the first one I saw was Adam's script and sheet and honestly, his character is just as illogical as his character design!
From what I've read, I think he might just come off as this silly, goofball villain that everyone will love. Which is fine! There are plenty of antagonists who are goofy in tv shows. Like Dr. Doofenshmirks (Phineas and Ferb), Bill Cypher (Gravity Falls), Plankton (Spongebob), Izma (Emporers New Groove), Discord (My Little Pony), Even the freakin Joker!! Etc.
But with Adam, it's just... I dunno. Some things just don't seem to fit with his character. So for one... dude is an angel, but he doesn't seem to... act like one? We're supposed to see angels as good characters. We would expect to see them as the kind of people who would do NO wrong and are polite, well-behaved, and overall just good people unlike all the sinners in hell who are not very good people and don't care at all about wanting to be redeemed. And reading Adam's character as well as the script... I don't see any of that. Viv deliberately made him out to be this immature and carefree jackass who likes to rule over people. He's also pretty sexist. If anything, he just comes off to be another one of Hell's demons, looks and characteristics alone. And this is super ironic cuz he's supposed to be head of all the angel military and protector of heaven. You'd think that in that case, Viv would leave out the childish character in him. Plus, I have a pretty good feeling that the only reason he kills and exorcises demons in hell is because he just likes to do it. Like- it's not because it's his job or he feels he's supposed to or anything. He just does it because.... it's fun.
Oh and also, this one likes to cuss up a storm too......
Yeah... that doesn't exactly seem very "Angel" fitting. Honestly, I think Adam needs a whole new character upgrade. For someone who's supposed to be an angel made from heaven, he doesn't seem like one, let alone look like one. Not to mention it just makes Charlie's goal absolutely pointless. Like, she wants to redeem sinners, and yet we have an angel created in heaven who is an a**hole and says offensive things about women. What's the point in turning sinners into good people if they're probably gonna act the same way in heaven?
Of course, not to say that the angels can't at least act like villains. What I'm saying is, they shouldn't be considered evil since we're supposed to see them as good people. But they can just seem like antagonists since our protagonists are demons and we're supposed to side with them in a way. The angels attempting to kill them would just be bad for us viewers since that's NOT what we want. We don't want them to kill our protagonists, but since they're just doing their job as angels, we can't consider them evil or villains. Cuz in the end, they're just doing what they're instructed by heaven to do, and not because they wanna do it if that makes sense.
One of the main things that caught me off guard with Angel's design was his extra pair of arms.
Okay, so you see how his whole skin (or fur, I guess) color is white? Or white with a very faint tint of pink? Looking at his second pair of arms, I thought that it was his bare skin and that it was short-sleeved. But, apparently, his white arms are just his... white gloves! That caught me completely off guard and I was ultimately thrown off by this detail. Like, if Viv was gonna make him wear an extra pair of gloves, why can't they be another color?? Why couldn't they be the same as the first pair??? They legit had me thinking it was a simple short sleeve.... but nope!! He's just wearing really long gloves. For real, does he NOT get hot wearing that???
As for Angel Dust as a character? To put it simply..... well... he's just as flawed as every other character created by Viv. It's a little funny for me to say, cuz I don't even hate him completely? Initially, I did think he was awesome... like he's someone you'd want to be friends with. But now... he's just another Vivzie character I can hardly take pity for no matter what kinda bullsh*t he goes through cuz in the end, he don't deserve pity.
He's like Stolas in a way; he gets abused and manipulated by someone but has no problem acting like a douche to other people around him. And we are expected to take pity on him, cuz "Ooh, he can't help it! He's always abused and raped by Val! He has every right to be an a**, insult people around him, and cause trouble. Poor Angel!!"
Like... no....
As we all know, Angel Dust is a VERY OPENLY gay dude, and proud of it too. He's very sexual, likes to flirt and have sex with dudes (women too sorta, if they pay him more), sex jokes 24/7 with this man, and overall just like d*cks. Did I forget to mention he's gay? Yeah, what's unlikable about his character, and I may have mentioned something like this before, he's your typical gay man who just likes to have sex and is super perverted, and it is NOT a very good representation of the lgbt community. Viv has been doing that a lot with her characters and it's just flat-out annoying. He's just another walking fanservice!
Another thing that is annoying, not to mention confusing, is that he's a sexual character we're supposed to laugh at because he's sexual, and yet at the same time, we're supposed to take pity on him cuz he has a pimp who sexually abuses him? This is the kinda thing that happened with HB too;
Stolas flirts with Blitzo, harassing him and manipulating him. Blitzo does the same thing with his coworkers, stalking them, sexually harassing them, and even threatening to rape them at one point and all that was supposed to be painted as funny, when really it's not. The same thing happens with Angel; he makes sex jokes while also being a flirt with all the dudes around him and we're supposed to find this comedic and funny. But then he has a pimp who is just beyond cruel to Angel, sexually harassing him, raping him, very abusive, and in this case, we're supposed to cry and take pity on Angel?
....So, which is it?? Are we expected to laugh at his trauma or not?? Like, PICK ONE!!!
Why are we even laughing at the one thing that's supposed to depress him???
It doesn't even make sense with him as a character, because he'll go having lots of sex with folks, making sex jokes, brag about how hot he is, about how much he likes to get laid, flirt with other dudes, offer a blowjob out of nowhere, etc. and he'll feel all proud of, would gladly do all that sh*t again. But then minutes later, when someone does the EXACT SAME THING TO HIM, he'll start to feel hurt, harassed, or abused.
Again....Which is it!!!?? PICK ONE!!!
Another thing I notice is that his sheet mentions that he has trouble trusting people he meets. What exactly does Viv mean by that? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if someone doesn't have trust in you, then they would be a bit... standoffish. They would probably be aloof, not even wanting to make small talk, probably wouldn't even want to be your friend. Y'know just someone with trust issues. With Angel? I didn't see ANY of that in the pilot! I barely even saw it in the comic. Angel was super quick to become friends with Charlie and Vaggie. Albeit, he acts like a douche, he's still comfortable enough to crack jokes around them and is quick to accept the free housing they offered. If anything, he just takes advantage of them, causing trouble and making them look bad. Not to mention that he felt a little bad when he saw the sad look on Charlie's face and initially wanted to comfort her.
Then there was the ADDICT mv by the end where Angel scowls at Charlie and turns away from her. Why are we suddenly seeing him acting so mean?? And it's not mean like "It's just a prank bro." kinda mean. It's mean like, "Don't talk to me!". THAT is the only time where we see him having trust issues, and that's it! And then I look back at the pilot, the comic, and these audition scripts where he is having normal conversations with Vaggie and Charlie all the while being a little friendly with them. Does he have trouble trusting people or doesn't he???
And y'all can't tell me "Oh, it probably took him a while to start trusting Charlie and Vaggie." This dude spent two weeks with them! Even in that time, the only communication Angel should have with them is small talk and cold shoulders.
I honestly don't know what to expect from Angel when the show comes out. I'm just hoping he won't be totally botched like the majority of the characters in HB. But considering the rate that it's going, it's more than likely.
I actually like Husk a lot, so I really hope they don't screw up him in this series.
Not sure if there's much I can say about his character yet? All I know is that he's a really grumpy Garfield who likes drinking more than he likes eating.
I will say something about his design though. I don't totally find his look ugly.... and that's kinda the problem. So Husk is supposed to be an old dude. Like in his 60s or something. But the only trait he has to that is his gruff deep voice. The rest of him?? I guess some of Viv's characters just can't exist without them looking like you wanna simp for them, no matter if their designs don't match their character traits. If you want Husk to be an old grump, then make him LOOK like one. Have him be like Grunkle Stan from Gravity. At least give him a beer gut or something since he likes to drink a lot!
While we're on the topic of beers, I kinda agree with Vaggie with her comment about the bar. The whole point of Charlie's hotel project is to counsel any of the guests that come and visit. Help them cope with any sort of trauma or depression they have. Turn them into good people. Help them get over any kind of addiction they have. I really don't think the whole bar thing is gonna help any alcoholics who wanna drink until they sink. If anything they're just tempting them to show up and ask for a drink just by having the bar there.
I've read Val's sheet and scripts and judging by those alone, I just know he's going to end up being another villain we are not going to take seriously at all. I don't even think I could call him a villain. I agree with what @showtoonzfan mentioned in one of their posts, he comes off as a school bully, your typical pimp who considers his prostitutes to be his property, and will be quick to get angry if he doesn't get his way. He'll probably say something like this to Angel, "I own you! I control you!" And I might just end up laughing cuz, of course he gonna say that, he's a pimp. And all pimps act like this (sarcastic voice).
That's pretty much all I could say for now. If you're curious about any others, I can try to think about it and give my input.
I feel like a lot of the rage at Stella's characterization comes from people making assumptions in the early episodes, and then not being able when those assumptions are proved wrong later on.
Spoilers under the Read More
So the earliest we get to see Stella (Outside her blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the pilot) is in Episode 2. For the few moments she shows up she's making a massive deal about Stolas cheating on her. Screaming insults at him, throwing things, ect. With a surface level reading, I can see people believing that this is all new behavior that's completely caused by Stolas cheating. With that line of thinking, it's easy to believe that Stella really cared about their relationship and Stolas genuinely hurt her by cheating.
But if you pay any further attention, that's clearly not the case. The entire time she's screaming at him, it isn't about how he cheated on her, it's about how he cheated on her with an Imp. She calls him a disgrace, an embarrassment, but nothing to imply that she cared about the relationship more than its appearance. When she complains it happened in their bed, and Stolas said he "didn't have time to find a motel" her response isn't "That's still cheating!" it's "A motel?! Like a plebeian?!" None of her dialogue actually shows she's angry about the cheating itself. Plus she's extremely haphazard about throwing things, she almost hits Octavia with a potted plant and doesn't react to almost hitting her daughter. Speaking of Octavia, Stella doesn't seem concerned that she can hear her screaming and breaking stuff, or concerned what kind of emotional impact that has on her daughter. The scene very clearly shows that she's classist and doesn't really care about anyone around her.
Then you look at Stolas' behavior in the scene. He doesn't seem at all surprised and he doesn't have any reaction to his plants being thrown around. He seems to have air of resignation about the whole thing. Then he sees his daughter, and he realizes she saw and heard everything. And he immediately switches to his "Everything is fine! How are you doing?" setting. It doesn't work, and he immediately realizes that and tries switching tactics to "Hey let's talk about something you like, what are you listening to?". Then when the band name is a direct insult to him he's concerned but just let's it roll, either because he understands why she might hate him right now (I'll get to it) or because he's so used to having to shrug off insults that it's just his default response. When Octavia asks if they're "done screaming for the day" and Stella immediately proves "no" by audibly screaming and breaking another pot, Stolas switches tactics again to getting her out of the house to somewhere he thinks she'll like. Yeah he's not exactly doing a good job of comforting her because he's kind of glossing over everything that's happening (And how he decides to bring Blitzø with them. I have my thoughts on that too but this is long enough as is and there is no time to unpack that) but you can still see that he at least cares. He doesn't want Octavia to have to deal with her parents fighting, he doesn't want it to be something she's constantly bogged down by.
Also this all comes after the even earlier, even shorter scence, where Octavia has a nightmare. She ends up waking up both Stolas and Stella, Stolas says "Via is calling us Stella" (Emphasis added by myself not the show) and Stella grumpily refuses to get out of bed and tells him to go handle it himself. It implies Stolas was going to go anyway but he wanted Stella to come with, and Stella just refuses. The way he sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose (beak?) after sitting up implies that he's used to that kind of reaction from her.
Side note: The scene also shows Stella is a blanket hog. That itself isn't like an indicator of abuse or anything but it makes for good visual shorthand of just how little Stella cares about Stolas.
It's just, so much of this short scene seems to fly over people's heads. It very clearly shows that Stella behaves abusively and the scene before it shows that Stella and Stolas didn't have a good relationship to start with. It's just that they saw cheating, know cheating is wrong, and then decided that since Stella had been cheated on it justifies all of her behavior.
Also as for Octavia's clear disdain for Stolas in her first appearance: One has to keep in mind that he was intentionally keeping her away from the worst of the abuse for her entire life. It's only recently she seen her parents fighting and since it's always Stella yelling about something Stolas did, naturally she blames him for breaking the family's peace. Then he introduces her to the guy he cheated on her mom with and spends most of the day paying more attention to him than he does to her. She thinks that he likes Blitzø more than her, that if he's messing things up at home and not even reacting to her discontent that she must be low on his list of priorities. Their talk in the apple ride is what convinces her that's not the case, he finally drops the "Everything is fine!" attitude and starts actually listening to her, directly addressing her concerns and trying to give her a clear answer. The only thing Stolas says without hesitation or confusion is that he's not going to leave her, and with everything going on that's what she cares about.
You can even see it in the second episode she's in. Her parents are getting divorced and she's still estatic over the thought of spending the day with her dad and going to Earth to star gaze. She accepts that her parents don't get along, maybe she's realized they never did in the first place, but the divorce itself is still distrupting her life. If it wasn't interfering with her, I doubt she'd care much (I don't mean this in a "She's selfish" way but a "She understands her parents are better off separated and is at peace with that" way [Also, for perspective, I'm saying this as a child of divorce who came to the same conclusion]). It's when he Stolas stops listening to her again because he's so focused on the divorce that she gets upset. Which of course by the end of the episode she realizes that Stolas does still care about her and if he had realized what day it was he probably would've brought her to see the meteor shower. Octavia is legitimately just a teenager who's having a hard time and the narrative never potrays her as being wrong for that. She steals a powerful artifact and instead of being scolded or punished she's met with concern and acceptance. People who are mad at Octavia, or mad at how the story frames her, just don't understand what the story is trying to do with her.
It's just, very frustrating how incredibly obtuse some people can be with the analysis of these characters.
Everyone’s obsession with trying to justify Stella’s behavior is sooo icky to me.
“Well why they write her like that just as a prop to make Stolas look better.”
Has it ever occurred to you through the process of making a story certain characters exist to be a foil to the main protagonists. That not all characters are meant to be sympathetic or to be sympathized with and that’s not a fault in writing.
Someone being a villain character isn’t bad writing, and not having a character entire story before a show is over and claiming how under developed a character is- well a little idiotic.
Events have to happen in a certain order in a story for it to make sense, I’m sure we’ll find out more about Stella as the show goes on.
And there is also the huge can of worms of people trying to justify Stella’s actions. Male victims of abuse are hardly ever shown. Why are you trying to make Stella seem like the good person in this?
Yes it was an arranged marriage, yes it’s fair to say Stella was unhappy about that. That does not justify Stella abusing Stolas. Guess what Stolas was never happy about the arranged marriage either. Not to mention he is literally a gay man, but he didn’t become abusive.
“Oh but he cheated on her.”
Yeah after almost two decades of being abused and in a loveless hollow marriage. That’s hardly the same as being abused. Also that’s pretty common to happen to people being abused it’s behavior of someone trying to get out of a bad situation.
Y’all keep saying there is no depth and then try and take it out the messy nature of these things.
Legitimately if Stolas was a woman and Stella a man you’d all be praising Stolas. Support male domestic abuse victims and stop justifying abusive woman.
And of course that’s not saying you can’t like Stella as a character, just stop trying to make her seem like the victim. Stop saying you love her as a character and then going “well why did they write them like this, why didn’t they write them as having a friendly relationship.” Because that’s not the story being told.
And while I’m at it I know some people hate Octavia but she’s honestly great from what we’ve seen of her. “Why does he hate her more than he loves me?” As someone who grew up around this situation in my older teen I felt that. I felt that hard, these things are complicated for all people involved.
It is VERY BAD WRITING. Children know when parents are abusive. They will hate these parents, fear them, and favor the parent who was kind to them. Octavia would have defended Stolas long time ago and hated Stella. you even have Blitzo who obviously loves his mother because she was good to him and he doesn't even seem to want to remember his father.
Vizvipop obviously don't know how dysfunctional families work, there are too many inconsistencies. This is not how dysfunctional families should be written, she just wanted people to empathize more with Stolas
About to get personal but I grew up with an abusive father did my mom try to hide the abuse yes she did, did she failed miserably yes she did and mind you I was five years old and already saw my dad being an asshole to my mother and it's why i love my mother more than my dad because like you said children would side with the parent that was nice to them but let's play along for a second okay ???
Let's say Stolas managed to hide abuse for 17+ years and Octavia never knew about right ???
There's two possible outcomes to this and frankly idk which I hate more
1) Octavia is stupid and doesn't realize how horrible her mother is and hates her dad and is defending her mother for no reason and ignores how her mother is towards her husband
2) Stolas doesn't care about his daughter if he's willing to let her grow up in a toxic environment and is willingly letting her spend time with Stella by herself you despite the fact that abusive partners can also be abusive towards their children again speaking from experience
Even if the whole wanting Octavia to have a good home excuse is used its still wrong because Octavia still grew up in an environment that is surrounded by a cheating father and a mother whos abusive so regardless of how people wanna paint it, there's no logical explanation as to why Stolas chose to live there and put Octavia through 17 years of suffering
I said it before and I'll say it again Viv and her crew have no idea what they are doing they are literally grabbing every interesting concept they can think of throwing it together and are hoping for the best outcome when said outcome is just a sloppy mess
They are trying way to hard to be unique different and tackle so many heavy topics but fail to understand the basic concepts of said topics
I could see Stolas begging for forgiveness, he’s so sorry, he’ll take care of the child the best he can but he’s so so sorry! Please don’t hate him, don’t leave, don’t hurt their child
Yeah, I feel like the ego would crack pretty quickly (especially in his fragile mental state) once he realized that
A: There's an innocent child involved now because of what his feral form did,
B: There's a pretty high chance of something going wrong,
and C: The one person he's now stuck with is very, very close to hating his guts forever.
Blitzo's stubborn as hell, but seeing the mask just drop as Stolas fumbles his way through an apology and asks with shaking hands if he can feel 'his- their child'... He scoffs a little but tugs his shirt up.
"It's not ours, it's yours." He's still clearly feeling pretty uncomfortable with this whole thing.
"Please, just..." Stolas sucks in a breath. "I know that you have no reason to trust me, especially after everything, but... I'd like a chance to do this with you. Already my other side trusts you-"
"Which was why you did this?"
"Er, yes, I suppose-"
"Fat lot of good that 'trust' got me, then."
"You think I wanted to wake up and find out that I-" Stolas scrubbed at his face. "No, no, this isn't- this isn't your fault, none of this is your fault." He set his hand on Blitzo's warm stomach, the bump already visible even a month and a half in. "They're innocent, and... I hope they can be the one good thing to come out of this mess. My darling Octavia certainly was out of my previous marriage."
Blitzo chewed on his lower lip and looked away without replying, fingers tightening on his shirt's hem. "The one where your wife snapped and did this shit to you?"
"Yes."
"Well, I'm hoping this doesn't go that pear-shaped."
Stolas gave a weak chuckle. "So do I." His hand moved up to cup Blitzo's cheek. "I'd like to try again. Have a proper date next month, so we can actually talk like civilized people. I'll spend the rest of tonight trying to make some medicine for you from my greenhouse to soothe the symptoms so it won't be so much to handle, I don't want this to be any more of a burden than strictly necessary."
Blitzo blinked, clearly surprised by the gesture considering Stolas had so little time to be himself. "Better than nothing, I guess."
The funniest part imho is that Via is canonically 17. What 17 year old isn't flawed? I mean, they're going through pivotal years where emotions are dialed on extremes, and the big Uncle Iroh questions of "who are you and what do you want" constantly looms overhead. Yeah, a lot of actions teens take are influenced by their surrounding environment and role models, but that doesn't immediately absolve every reaction they have to these influences. Nuance is key.
Take S2E2 where Via steals the grimoire. As children, we hang on to every word and promise made by our role models. So it's no fault of Via's that she had high expectations that Stolas would remember that promise. She remembers it, so of course the guy who said he'd do it would too, right?
But here's the thing: children don't nearly have as much to think about compared to adults due to the imbalance of responsibilities they have, not to mention levels of dependence. Ergo, adults got a ton of shit on their minds and some things slip. It happens. This is just stating fact, not faulting Via for not "flipping the chessboard over," so-to-speak, and realizing this from the get-go. This is just a difference in perception based on child/adult dynamics.
The flaw here comes in at Via's reaction to Stolas via (haha) stealing the grimoire. She knows stealing it is wrong, yet does so out of intense anger that manifests into the singular impulse of "fuck it, I'll just go by myself". And asking a teen to completely curb every impulse fueled by intense emotions is like telling Blitz he can't eat his beloved cheese and hot sauce wombo-combo anymore: it's impossible. Not an excuse, but again, just fact.
So now what? Can this still be considered a character flaw of Via's if something innate and unavoidable is causing it? In my opinion, yes, because regardless of the cause for her actions, bad actions still happened. But that doesn't make her a bad character, rather the opposite because it just makes her relatable. I mean, who here has never been a teen who wanted to say "fuck it" as a response to being told off? And that's the crux of good character writing: relateability with the audience. (And, as a side note, a chance for character growth.)
So yeah, long-winded way to put this, but excusing flaws in a character just doesn't work. If anything, it invalidates what makes them them and can possibly invalidate fans who see themselves in said character. We like them because we can see a bit of us in them, warts and all.
FWIW, addressing Stolas' role in this, arguing that Stolas should've listened to Via when he was organising Stella's things doesn't absolve or excuse Via's behaviour. Could he have switched gears to focus on her? Maybe. Could he have said what he did a bit nicer? Possibly. But none of these counterfactuals hold water because this isn't a "Stolas did X so Via did Y" pipeline. There were other options. Even if Stolas had given her all his attention and still turned her down, he's not to blame for her stealing the grimoire. His dismissiveness is divorced (heheh) from Via's resulting actions and should be dealt with separately.
The way extreme Via stans who hate Stolas react when I dare imply she has flaws (which she does, she'd be a horribly written character if she didn't) is a prime example of what I mean when I say Stolas' character isn't the problem here.
These people are just incapable of handling flawed characters, because godforbid their precious little fave isn't a perfect squeaky clean saint.
(For clarification, because I know people love misunderstanding me and putting words in my mouth, Via is my 3rd fave character and these people are apperently also incapable of understanding it's possible to love Stolas, Blitz AND Via at the same time.)
I'm placing my bets now for Apology Tour -
episode unambiguously sides with Stolas & only has Blitzo be expected to change or apologize
Stolas bonds with Verosika over how awful Blitzo treated him (bonus points if they retcon it so Blitzo wanted to use Verosika's crystal to get to the human realm despite it never ONCE coming up in s1, in order to establish Evil Blitzo has a habit of using people, unlike Innocent Stolas who would never do that) and later confronts Blitzo on it (the whole dumb 'do you ever feel regret for what you do' line, though going by Stolas' outfit that could be a later ep)
Stolas' development won't be him realizing Blitzo had a point or that anything he said/did to him was wrong, but it'll be some kind of internal journey about learning to love himself (bonus points if Vassago turns up just in time to be his rebound and convince him he totally didn't do anything wrong) - this is where the 'I want someone to care, I want someone to want me' line comes in. Stolas is still self-obsessed but it's framed like he's just a sad uwu owl who just wants love
We won't hit the Blitzo Victim Blaming Event horizon yet but we'll get close - we'll save that for whatever consequences Stolas faces as a result of lending the book out that the show decides are all Blitzo's fault
Blitzo gets thrown a bone in the form of making up with Verosika
But this probably only happens after he realises Stolas is performing (the look on his face in this shot: https://www.reddit.com/r/HelluvaBoss/comments/1ctnyak/verosika_is_sitting_next_to_blitz_in_the_trailer/) and the episode uses Blitzo feeling bad about Stolas to motivate him to make peace with her (yuck) - as sort of 'Blitzo never had to look at the aftermath of him hurting people before and who is more hurt and sad than Stolas?' (the audience: literally anyone!!!)
That bit with the moon is part of Stolas' performance, maybe? (from the trailer on the line 'I want someone to care, I want someone to want me'
If Stolas' song isn't a straight diss track I'm betting it's gonna be a more ballad-like heartbreak song where Stolas sings principally about how he was hurt and victimized and only wanted things to work out and it hurts him when Blitzo shuts him out. If the episode has Stolas or anyone else acknowledge Blitzo yelling at him in the prior ep it'll only to do more Oops-like framing of Blitzo as just unreasonably prejudiced against the rich and his whole hangup is his problem
Blitzo is watching from the balcony and at this moment he has the epiphany that he 'doesn't want to be this way forever.' Song ends with that winceworthy shot from the trailer of Blitzo looking up, all vulnerable, as the show frames Stolas in this gold light like he's this idealized love Stolas always needed (upgrade yuck to puke)
Afterwards Blitzo will go up to talk to Stolas while wearing that white sheet who's weeping by himself as per usual (other shot from the trailer), to apologize. Stolas still will not say I'm sorry or anything close because the writers have clawed out the empathy chip in his head for good, but this is the moment where he and Blitzo will maybe sort of get it together, kinda
And y'know what my other bet from the trailer is? I think a lot of people are gonna hate it. They're gonna realize even more that waiting for the show to ever address Stolas' flaws is a losing endeavour and that it was a total lie that we were supposed to think Stolas was in the wrong. His only flaw was loving Blitzo too much
I think this is the moment the show loses the audience for good and only the Stolas apologists and the diehard 'it's good no matter what you say' crowd are gonna remain
I think you're probably right. I'll be extremely happy if you're not and even half of this doesn't come true, but I think anyone who's waiting on a sincere, heartfelt resolution where they actually talk about things and Stolas fully acknowledges what he did wrong is going to be deeply disappointed.
