This was a terrible idea. Really, it was. With how many times she’d been rejected it was practically ridiculous that she thought this would go over well. And Amy was well aware of how low her chances were. But she just couldn’t help it. Besides, he was far too reserved to ever ask her out. She had to be the one to do it.
Amy sighed and looked at her dress in the mirror again. It was a medium length white dress covered in a leafy pattern in various green hues and even had a ribbon to match. It was brand new. Which she may or may not have bought for this specific occasion. An arguably unnecessary expense but Amy justified it by telling herself she needed something nice to boost her confidence.
But… what if it was too nice? If she got rejected then it would have all been a waste and every time she saw the dress again she’d be filled with disappointment and heartache and loneliness and-
She panicked and darted over to her wardrobe and began to frantically look for a possible alternative. How foolish she was to buy such a dress. What if he didn’t even like green!
Amy startled suddenly at the knock on her bedroom door and a young rabbit poked her head inside.
“Amy, aren’t you supposed to be on your date?”
“It’s not a date, Cream. Well, at least not yet. But hopefully, it will be.”
“I’m sure he’ll say yes! I have a feeling this one's gonna work out. And I don’t need any fancy tarot cards to know that!”
“That’s right! I should do a reading and then I’ll-”
“Amy!” Cream shouted, cheeks slightly puffed up in frustration, “You already said you were gonna ask him. You promised me you wouldn’t back out again.”
“I know, I know. You’re right,” Amy sighed and wandered over to her drawer and pulled out her old deck of cards, “These cards have just really helped me out a lot, you know? I’ve had them nearly my whole life. If I hadn’t listened to them and left home then I never would have even met him, or anyone else, or even you.”
Cream quietly wandered over and sat down on the bed next to her friend and waited for her to continue.
“I’d been alone for a really long time, which was why I was traveling the world. I wanted to find a new home, somewhere I belonged… I’d read about Little Planet before, they used to call it Miracle Planet. It sounded like a beautiful place, “a world that defies time itself”, relics that create miracles, I couldn't ask for a more perfect place to call home… But just like everything else, it was temporary.”
Cream frowned as Amy sat down on the bed beside her. The little girl watched as Amy shuffled through her deck before finally pulling out a single card and handing it to her. The image depicted a brave looking knight valiantly standing upright with a single sword in his hands.
“But then I pulled this card,” Amy said, continuing her story, “The Knight of Swords. It represents action and says that if you propel yourself through ambition you’ll be rewarded. That’s when I knew that if I continued to trust my instincts, the same one that brought me there in the first place, then I would finally get to meet my knight in shining armor!”
Cream giggled, “And you did! Even if it was a little messy at first.”
“Heh, a little, but you gotta admit, he really knew how to sweep a girl off her feet.”
The two giggled some more before Cream suddenly sprung up from her feet, “Amy! You’re gonna be late! You need to hurry!”
“Oh Chaos you’re right!” Amy jumped up from the bed and hurried out the door, but when she reached the doorway she paused and looked back towards her friend again. “So, you really think he’s gonna say yes?”
Cream walked over to her and gave her a big smile, “Of course I do, Amy! Things are changing now and so are you. You’ve been the princess in the tower already, now it’s time for you and your knight, your real knight, to have your happily ever after!”
Amy returned the smile, gave her friend a big hug, and fought off the tears she felt forming behind her eyes, “Thanks Cream, you always know just what to say.”
The two waved each other away and Amy took off, and as she closed the front door behind her she couldn’t help but smile.
This was it. She was finally going to ask out the blue hedgehog of her dreams. It was finally time to ask out Metal Sonic.

me when i stubbed my toe on a chair leg earlier: “TABARNAK, TABARNAK!”
my lovely bestie amélie on ft w/me: …tu dis?
and then i had to explain to her how quebec french uses the names of holy items as swear words (sacres) due to the social control and influence of the catholic clergy in the 19th century being a source of frustration (which eventually led to the secularisation of our government a century later but i won’t go into that now) and how we’re never beating the passive aggressive/condescending allegations…(although i suppose i cheated the system by being canadian american)

[Lio] Been thinking of the Sonic series esp. the bits that we were into as a kid (SA:DX up to around Riders/we didn’t play 06 but around then) and especially about Shadow who was our favorite character. And like nowadays it’s easy to be like oh haha it’s kind of campy and it clearly has that shounen anime thing going on and the fandom was really wild at that point. We were a big fan
And it’s not like it’s necessarily deep by any real means but looking back and paying attention it makes perfect sense. Especially Shadow as a character. An amnesiac who has identity issues and childhood trauma ??? Who spends a large portion of his character arc trying to find out who he is and what parts of his memories are real or not?? Who is prickly and solitary and defensive and who can be aggressive when cornered or faced with things that remind him of his past?? Who has a number of family members/authority figures in his life who are trying to constantly control him or manipulate him, but he’s allowed to beat them up when he realizes they suck? Who sacrifices himself for people and has some level of guilt about his circumstance that he couldn’t control? They really made this character for exactly us as a child.
Also one of his dads turns into a massive flying lizard and he gets to kill him. In his first appearance he vows to kill everyone on earth but also he can take time out of his schedule of killing everyone to raise a weird little magic baby and feed it fruit and teach it karate. He is a loner but he has a surprising number of besties. He’s sir Lancelot also by the way like canonically but I did not play that game to be fair bc the wii controlled like garbage for these games

me about to write an essay on how orange blood is enha’s best comeback/era yet, starting with heeseung fitting the title track very well but also the entire sonic/vibes/concept being a nice blend of the maturity and darker tones enha’s vampy concept has, while also delivering some freshness and brightness that also just kind of comes? with them. that it’s 100% a win for jake and sunoo, in that the the pops of color provide depth and duality that allow for what I would say are more natural and well-excuted expressions and energy they showcase. like not to put anyone in a box, but I think, as seen in sweet venom, there’s opportunities to be playful with a song that sounds a bit darker that other comebacks like bite me didn’t quite have. again, not to say any of the members are incapable of one aesthetic/concept either way, but by approaching a concept and sonic with depth and a blend, it gives the artists opportunity for both growth and showcasing of their strengths.

There’s something so heartbreaking about watching your favourite parts of a tv show, the parts that you have loved for years and found so much joy in, being misunderstood, forgotten and erased by it’s predecessors.
13’s beautiful TARDIS interior, and sonic screwdriver erased to make way for nostalgia.
13’s clothes, her entire outfit, burnt up never to be seen again without any explanation.
Yaz, who 13 was in love with, who she wanted to tell everything to and spend the rest of her days with, not even mentioned - not even hinted at!
13’s character, her core personality traits and storyline reduced to ‘woman Doctor’ and fundamentally misunderstood!
13’s fam, the family that she found and built, not even mentioned or reminisced about!
I’m glad that the Timeless Child wasn’t erased, but I feel like so much else was that RTD didn’t properly watch 13’s era. It’s like he was given a summary and only took the parts that he thought was interesting.
13’s memory deserves better! She deserves to have passed on the baton to Ncuti’s Doctor, to have him running around high on regeneration energy while wearing her outfit! To use her sonic for an episode before choosing to make his own!
13 deserves to be remembered as a Doctor who was loved dearly by her companions and fans, as a Doctor who went through so much tragedy right from the start and struggled to deal with that, but still managed to face down her foes! As a someone who was optimistic and kind, but could also be cruel and harsh when needed! She was complicated, she went through so much, I love her and she will always be my Doctor.
She deserves to be remembered as more than ‘woman Doctor’, because she was so much more than that.

The Eras Tour | Fearless section | Version 6
Roberto Cavalli custom
The Eras Tour is back for its final run and with it, of course, new costumes. Taylor debuted a handful during last night’s opening North American leg date in Miami, Florida - most by Fausto Puglisi for Roberto Cavalli.
Including V6 of the Fearless dress which continues the ‘noodle’ design we see on the gold and silver V2 and V3 of this dress but makes it shorter and adds a dash of “light sapphire and aurora borealis” embellishments, according to the designer. I feel that the last two custom additions to this portion of the set (V5 debuted on Roberto Cavalli home turf in Milan, Italy back in July) feel, to me, a little more off the original Fearless aesthetic than the other variations.
Where the Eras Tour costuming best excels is in refreshing and modernizing iconic looks from eras past. Nodding to their originals so as to maintain an essence of familiarity to journey through Taylor’s eras aesthetically and sonically, but making them fun and fresh for new audience. So many costumes have handled this allusion through updated designs handily. But here, I’m struggling a bit to connect the powder blue stones and sequins with original Fearless. Though the new short length does keep things fun and twirly (and Fearless certainly helped to iconify the dramatic on stage hair toss for Taylor). If I were reaching, there are certainly *some* iconic Fearless moments that happened with blue (the 2010 Grammys dress where she won Album of the Year for Fearless immediately comes to mind as well as the many references to rain on the album) but I am not quite seeing the vision here.
If I were assessing this sans era connect, this shade of blue is really pretty on Taylor. But I also think the effect of the blue design could have been applied more broadly across the dress. It sort of looks like a ‘woops’ spill here.
Currently, I stand by my ranking that Versions 1 and 4 come closest to honouring the original aesthetic of the Fearless era. Your thoughts?

Sonic Prime
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Omfg I think I am done with this drawing, it was a lot of stress. I did a lot of stupid small mistakes and should of planned the sketching part a bit more. My initial plan was the have all of them in original persona with shards reflecting their shatterverse persona but it looked awkward so I instead did the complicated approach and drew them three times which took a ton of work because i also change their pose for each shatterverse otherwise it would look weird and lazy. However eventhough this work gave me a ton of headache and frustration I would say, it could be a lot worse and am happy with the final result. Did I make some mistakes yeah I’m pretty sure I did and can edit it later. I’m ok with that lol. It was hard to find references at the time, so if I made a mistake, I’ll come back to it. I just want to draw something else in the mean time. Maybe more sonic sketches or kingdom hearts or maybe a collab because I’m thinking of the sonic 2022 and Kh 20 anniversary, this year was soooo crazy.
but what about sonic prime, is it a good show? A bad show? I think you guys have your answer right here. I would say honestly this has to be the best sonic show I’ve watched. I did watched, sonic x, underground, sat am and some of boom. But I really liked the characters here, they were fun and had an interesting approach to each of their shatterverse persona. but I love the smear animation approach because not only could they get away with using less frames, it make it very dynamic, actioning and fun also a nice reference to how sonic was design based on the rubber hose era. I even bought a sonic 25 anniversary book this year and it’s a fun read. But yes, enough of the chit chat, I’m happy with this drawing at the end, I hope you guys enjoy it.

i just rewatched ‘the woman who fell to earth’ a couple of days ago for the first time since it aired back in 2018 and the more i think about it, the more i like it.
thirteen is the only doctor for whom i feel a tangible, rose-tinted nostalgia. she wasn’t my first doctor, but she was the first doctor i watched live, the first doctor that i spent an actual extended period of time with over the episode rollout. her intro episode has middling parts (as can be expected with most episodes of Who) but there’s also so much good that i really want to highlight.
first of all, there are some really great character dynamics set up here. much more interesting than i remember, tbh. ryan is a guy who loves mechanics but is stuck in a warehouse job he hates, a guy who obviously wants to connect to people, a guy who by the end of the episode has lost both his mother and grandmother in the space of a couple of years and the step-grandfather he didn’t really want is all he has left (minus his absent father). that’s interesting.
yaz has a keen sense of justice and this raw, intense yearning to help people, to do something worthwhile, something more - the way she has chosen to express that is through law enforcement, but it’s not quite giving her the satisfaction she wants. that’s interesting.
graham’s experience with cancer means that he constantly feels like he’s living on borrowed time. meeting grace gave him purpose, gave him family, gave him the will to fight when he fought it was all but over, but now grace is gone. he and ryan aren’t related, but they’re family, and now they’ve got to figure out how to care for each other without the very lynchpin that brought them together. once again with feeling: interesting!
“i’m just a traveller. sometimes i see things that need fixing. i do what i can.” i like that they circle back to the ‘just some guy’ portrayal of the doctor here, both because it’s the one i’m partial to and because it feeds particularly well into the whole ‘the doctor is an unreliable narrator’ aspect, especially in the wake of the increased deification in the moffat era. it's a nice set up, even if it gets completely overhauled circa series 12/13. in fact, having thirteen keep this as a persistent attitude throughout the Timeless Child of it all could have been really effective re: her reticence with her companions and refusal to address or deal with her past.
the scene where thirteen builds her sonic screwdriver might be one of my favourite sequences in nuwho. i love that it’s a hybrid of alien tech and sheffield steel. i also love that they highlight the ‘mad inventor’ side of the doctor here (her teleportation circuit is based around a microwave?) and wish that they had carried it forward more. it would have been the perfect basis for her to bond with ryan over. jodie also pulls off the humour of the episode well, considering the significant shift from moffat dialogue.
i enjoy thirteen's outfit: the vibrancy of it as mirroring her childish excitability, but also as another part of the mask - if i dress all colourful then maybe i can ignore/outrun/masquerade my great capacity for darkness! etc etc. the shopping trip with yaz and ryan is a bit shoe-horned in at the end but it's cute that she finds it in a charity shop. (back in 2018 i bought a t-shirt with a couple of stripes across the chest solely because it remotely resembled the one she wore lol. nerd from a young age, me.) jodie also looks soo hot in capaldi's outfit though so a spin on the traditional suit would also have been appreciated.
some miscellaneous points: i like that she tells Karl off (“you had no right to do that”) right after saving him. i like that she gets it wrong at first and makes it clear that she’s working on the fly. she’s following her instinct, and that instinct is to help people. doctor who has been beautiful before but the cinematography takes such a huge step this era. “it’s been a long time since i bought women’s clothes” i am choosing to believe this is about river thank you and good night.
