#I need a sewing machine

I just took apart a bag that was partly falling apart (would’ve been more work to see the parts rather than reset the whole thing)

Glued some of the edges (I ran out of glue)

Then cut said glued edges

Resigning myself to that fact that due to being 5'2, in order to have my dream pair of jeans i will have to get them altered

I push the thread through the eye. The needle goes in and out, in and out. The colour doesn't match, but I have limited supply. Where there was once a hole, there now is not. I move on to the next one. It's repetitive work and therefore meditative as well as cramp-inducing. There is value in fixing old clothes so no new ones need to be made. I'll treasure the mismatching colours whenever I put them on.

Is there a an equally soothing way to patch up the holes in one's life?

Delighted by my morning errand! My nana has… some hoarding issues. A year or so ago my mom and I tried to go in and help her clear stuff out. I was listing piles of stuff for sale for her, she made a ton of cash off it.

But my mom was so rude and judgemental during the process that my nana called it off and told us to stop coming. Most of the stuff we excavated from her garage is still sitting out in her carport.

One of the pieces that didn’t sell was this absolutely stunning old Singer sewing machine. It came in its own table and was in absolutely pristine condition. The machine itself is black with gold accents, really sleek and beautiful.

I mentioned it offhandedly during a one shot to a friend and he asked if I had pictures. I did, and when I showed him he asked what I listed it for.

I shrugged, “I asked 200 for it. It’s in great condition and besides being an antique those things never break. All the same machines on eBay were going for $400-500. But it was too pricey I guess.”

There was a little break in conversation and I saw the wheels turning in his head. “Do you want it?”

“200?”

“My nana will be thrilled, let me set up a pickup.”

So today we met there and he looked it over. It’s just as pretty as I remembered and when we plugged it in it hummed happily along. He was glowing with delight and my nana was thrilled to be making some cash.

I hope he adores it, but I’m mostly just happy it’s going on to be used rather than sitting unloved in her mountains of tchotchkes.

thinking about puppet tattoo parlors. A wall covered in so many different thread colors to choose from - swatches of different types of stitch for different textures / effects. modified handheld sewing machines for tattooing with multiple settings for the different stitches. individual needles + embroidery thread as stick n pokes...

okay but Why are the collars of 99,9% of t-shirts so tight. what is there to gain from this. this is autistic oppression actually. some of my most worn shirts of all time are the ones where i've cut off the collars and made the necklines wide and comfy. i need to start doing that more i think. at least within women's fashion there's many options for wider necklines and i HATE that it's a Femininely Coded thing. it feels like shirts designed for men are like, would you like the regular amount of strangulation or would you like a fUCKING TURTLENECK. AHHHHH

I have this one leatherjacket (my dad’s old one lol, very oversized on me but hoping in a cool way) that I’ve been meaning to take the shoulder pads out bc I’ve got enough shoulder as is & fits weird with those. But guess when do I decide to do it?

A) when I have ample freetime

B) when I have a very non-negotiable important deadline in a few days that I’m already behind on

YESSSSS my Halloween order from @waywardstation came in!! Picked up some charms for a pair of friends to take advantage of the discount, oh these are such cute charms, I'm so glad I managed to have a lil spare change for these!! ;w; The bat clips are such a lovely little touch, and these definitely feel like sturdy lil guys!

And omg, all the little bonuses were such a pleasant surprise!! (Editor's note: the joltik plushie was not included in the bonuses lol I've had that for like 7 years.) The joltik clip is also so cuuuute, I'm tempted to super glue a magnet onto it so I can put it around my desk :3c
