Okay, screw it. I might as well reveal my DreamSMP animated pilot that I've been working on.

Everything is scripted and storyboarded, so I'm just using this as a personal project to keep myself busy. Who knows, maybe it'll see the light of day someday.

why do people think cdream was obsessed with ctommy like i read stellos analysis on it and its well written and nice but they fail to take into account that cdream has a persona and 90 percent of the time is not telling the truth

Ummm well many reasons actually. Ones I’ve talked about a bit before, but basically I think it actually comes down to Tommy himself for a few reasons.

a) Firstly, I think because Tommy believes it, it’s hard for us not to believe it. In other words, by watching his stream, being in his head, that perception is ingrained into the lore itself so we are more inclined to believe it, simply because the character we are watching through does. This is true not just for Tommy but other characters as well and it makes sense, we are seeing things for the first time through their eyes - how could it not taint our view? This is also not helped by the fact that Dream leans into Tommy’s expectations. In multiple scenes we see him bring to life Tommy’s world view, giving him and us more inclination to take it at face value. Like Dream becomes who Tommy thinks he is so it makes it really convincing from Tommy’s head to not believe it.

b) Secondly, in many ways Dream is obsessed with Tommy. Sure not in the way Tommy thinks - like him constantly trying to kill him and take his discs and yada yada… but he tears up Tommy’s whole yard for Tommy’s discs, he fights wars for the discs against Tommy, and in some ways that is Tommy obsessing over Dream forcing Dream to engage. The problem I think is not so much that Dream is really obsessed with Tommy but that he’s obsessed with keeping his “big happy family” and Tommy continues to threaten that and be the center of chaos and conflict, there by making him a priority for Dream. And it doesn’t help that Tommy is also the very center of Dream’s hurt, and beginning and end of his downfall.

c) Lastly, and I think probably most notably, I kinda touched upon this already, but because Tommy is obsessed with Dream, he forces Dream to constantly be involved with him, making it look like a focus/obsession/priority when Dream really may be just trying to defend himself, defend his friends, get back his stuff… etc. Dream can’t not be involved with Tommy because just like the finale Tommy inserts himself right at Dream’s throat again.

So is Dream obsessed with Tommy? Or is he obsessed with getting to live his life, something Tommy continues to make impossible?

And yea the fact alone that Spirit, Mars, and Bekerson existed before Tommy and that Dream built a prison but plans on putting Skeppy in a little cage, should be enough to highlight that Dream is talking nonsense in the disc confrontation about Tommy being the key and him needing Tommy alive and yada yada… like it should be enough to showcase that maybe he isn’t really obsessed with Tommy like he depicts. But perhaps it’s much easier to believe that narrative than the one that Dream is actually a relatively sane person who’s just lying (like he’s accused to be lol - “All you do is lie, Dream…”). It’s a less messy reality then the what ifs and considerations and dissecting needed to find the actual truth. And who doesn’t want to just do the things that are easier?…

see its the same issue i have with genloss and horror. and not to bring up genloss again and get a wave of people blocking me for it. but like. its the same issue! i understand that dsmp was a lot of peoples first fandom experience and naturally this will bleed through into the tangentially related medias. but like. its SO painfully obvious a lot of people have just. Never Actually Experienced any better movies/shows/books. and its really sad! bc theres so many awesome things out there and its just upsetting to see people place these mediocre 20-somethings men on pedestals expecting perfection from them because they will ALWAYS be disappointed. genuinely in the nicest possible way i can say this. some of you just need to go read a book written by a woman. or watch an ap show run by queer folks. go listen to spirits or pale blue pod who are run by really smart really funny professional women. go read the murderbot diaries which explores identity in a way i have genuinely never experienced before in a piece of fiction and includes crazy awesome sci-fi action and environments and also uses neopronouns in a way that is so nonchalant and casual that i didnt even notice them at first. if youre set on youtubers/streamers. go watch holly hollowtones or penny snapcube who are extremely funny and talented and creative trans women and have equally as funny and creative friend groups. like. theres so many better things out there.

dream absolutely does.

though he's doing it more so as part of his research into the concepts of revival and death than actually because he wants to cure it.

i think there's a point where he starts considering it more seriously but he knows what doing experiments on people is like so i think that gives him a lot of pause on even attempting anything on the twins.

and then techno comes in like 'y'know it's actually kinda messed up to try to fix somethin' that they don't want fixed' which basically shuts the whole thing down.

okay so about tommys ending…

i honestly thought he was dead, and instead of limbo he ended up in some form of heaven, let me explain.

a few streams back dream had mentioned that what happened to you after death depended on how you died, hence the example he gave of wilbur becoming a ghost and tommy not. however if you recall there was one test they haven’t been able to complete yet, and that was what happened to a person after death if their death was the result of a heroic and selfless action.

so flash forward to now, with tommy in the prison, stalling dream and punz. he went into this knowing he would die. but he didn’t do it out of any selfish intention. on the contrary, his intentions were purely selfless as he did this to save everyone on the server since he knew dream and punz were to kill everyone soon. he knew that him and tubbo had no hopes of getting everyone to believe them when they say punz has betrayed them all. and he knew that the only way to protect everyone and end this all was through his own self sacrifice.

so that’s what he did.

and what a way to go is it not?

one would perhaps call it, selfless… maybe even heroic…

which gets me back to my main point, that tommy died in a truly selfless and heroic way, in order to protect the lives of many others, which is exactly what dream and punz had wanted him to do in the first place in order to complete their experiment.

what i believe happened though is something they couldn’t predict, which was that for someone who dies selflessly, they end up going to heaven, or whatever the good equivalent of that is in the dream smp world, instead of staying a ghost or ending up in limbo.

and this is where i believed tommy to have ended up. his heaven is simple. it’s beautiful. and it screams tommy.

he finally ended up in his happy place that he deserved. a simple world where he spends his simple days with simple people living with simple joy, laughter, and love in his heart.

he wanted this to happen, and he knew deep down that in order to achieve this once more… he had to start over.

and that’s what his heaven is

no war

no pain

no enemies

no complexities

just simple lives shared between simple friends and endless happiness to be had.

because that was enough for tommy.

it’s always been enough.

ALTERNATIVELY however (since i know that they intended this to be a server reset and i know it’s naive of me to assume tommy dead as his character ending) maybe what happens when someone dies selflessly is that their greatest wish comes true, and tommys greatest wish in that very moment was for everything to be simple again, and after talking with dream and finally getting an understanding of him, for all of them, dream included, to just be friends. which meant that all the fighting, all the wars, all their history, had to be erased from their minds and their physical environment. hence, the beginning of a new era where no one remembers any of their past and they all get to start over again.
