It is remarkably easy to ruin your own life. All it takes is 2 seconds and the twist of a stake pierced through skin. And while you’re ruining your own life, while the blood spills onto your hand and her body disappears in your arms, you will be thinking about how easy it was. It will make you feel sick.

You won’t register the fall. The wind breezing through your hair, the ground approaching faster and faster, it will all seem distant to you. The blood on your hand is gone now, faded away like a particularly bad dream. But you won’t wake up. In fact, once you hit the dirt beneath you, you won’t ever wake up again.

She used to compare you to a dog because you “stuck your nose in everything”. You think a wolf would be a better comparison.

You are, after all, a predator. You were made to kill. Perhaps it’s best you won’t see the birth of this new earth. You would only destroy it like you destroyed her.

The ground is closer now. It seems your never-ending fall is finally coming to an end. When you close your eyes you are running your fingers through her hair, and she is welcoming you home. The ground is a lot more comfortable than you thought.
