Obviously disability is hard. I hate the pain. The pack of independence. Fatigue. And all the other stuff that stops me being able to do things. But I think the strangest thing for me to adjust to was how everybody else viewed and was around me. Idk if that was because I have and had disabled family members but I was fine with the cane while apparently nobody else was.
Like it is such a strange experience for a grown man to look me in the eyes and call me a cripple. What are you getting out of that???
I do feel like it's worse with people who knew you before it all as well, there are those who come over and give their condolences like you're gonna die but there are also people who tried to take my cane and tell me I was making it up. Dude you think I chose to have a chronic illness? Or the canes an accessory?
And the fact people just feel they are entitled to my medical information. So freaky. Literal strangers will come up to me and be like 'I hope this isn't too invasive but why do you have a cane' (cause how would that be invasive?) And I feel like I have to awkwardly explain to this 40 year old women I met in tesco why im crippled.
Sorry for the yapping and have a nice day <3
#disability#Physically disabled#IDK IF IM MISSING SOMETHING BUT WHY IS 'CRIPPLE PUNK' A SUGGESTED TAG#I am a cripple but not a punk#The word just reminds me of this kid from my highschool who tried to get me and my friends to move by muttering punk like 10 times#Tht was a strange day#He was not an intimidating kid and had a bowl cut so it wasn't very effective#Love bowl cuts but he had one that looked like his parents stuck a mug on his head rather than a bowl#I told this man I have a chronic illness and he said 'sorry I hope you don't die' Like Sir what#I really feel for outwardly trans people cause I think it's creepy as hell when people ask about my cane#Can't imagine then asking about what surgeries I've had#people are strange

So done with all the defeatism nonsense. Life keeps going. My girlfriend has her first job interview later this morning. I’ve got to fold my laundry. My friends and I have a d&d session later this week. We’re still going. You’ll keep going. I’ll drag your asses into the future kicking and screaming because they want you to lay down and die. And I’ll be damned if any of us do what they want.

hey fellow photosensitive phuckers,
people don't tag flashing properly. we know this. however. you can also stop all media from autoplaying.
just go into your settings until you find "media auto play" and toggle "never auto play".
and then bam. much safer to scroll through.
this will mess with stimboards and stuff but it's a small sacrifice imo

Sick of posts that say stuff like "all mobility aid users should weaponize their mobility aids"
hey man, I can't do that! I need to bring my mobility aids into places that would deny me entrance for things like spikes and barbed wire! not every cripplepunk is a white skinny cane user, and having something deemed as a 'weapon' on some of us can be genuinely life threatening, even if it's a mobility aid! I don't want to have my rollator taken away from me and have to be searched bc I put some spikes on a seat cover or something!!! let cripplepunks express their punkness however is safe and comfortable for them, don't expect us all to be able to do the same things you can, because we all cant
#cripplepunk#cpunk#c-punk#cripple punk#punk#cripple#disability#physical disability#mobility aids#for the record:#i am not claiming that i am not white#i am a white latino and i acknowledge that i have the privelage to do these things more than BIPOC#however its still important to remember that our BIPOC siblings may be racially profiled#and put in real#genuine harm#for having anything people may deem a weapon#able-bodied people can reblog#but do not derail

here's to all the little sacrifices we have to make as disabled people.
here's to skipping a friend's party because you were in too much pain, or because you had no energy.
here's to dropping out of clubs because they became too much for you.
here's to all the times we've said "no it's okay, you guys go ahead, i'll hang back here."
here's to all the things we've held ourselves back from just in case they hurt us.
here's to moving seats in class away from your friends because your back was getting a draft and the cold hurts you.
here's to us. here's to letting ourselves heal. here's to being cautious, being safe.
here's to the things we can do. the things we're allowed to do. here's to enjoying those things, enjoying our lives.
here's to making the most of being us.

Countdown to people trying to say trans people who use wheelchairs/otherwise need accessible stalls are privileged because they can go into their gender aligned bathroom and if someone looks at them funny they can say the sole handicapped stall in the other was occupied.
…yes, I’m speaking from experience. Sometimes it was true!
The real problem here, to me, is abled people treating those like fucking luxury stalls. Or the fact many places now put changing stations in them so if somebody’s got a baby in there and you’re disabled and gotta go you’re just SOL.
#angry cripple#trans bathroom shit#cripple punk#I am so fed up#used to be changing stations were outside the stalls but I guess there was a moral panic about that too

Something about the way bibliopunk/punk academia is treated on here Bugs Me and I think it can be best summed up as this:
You can't just throw the "punk" descriptor onto whatever you like and call it an aesthetic
Punk is not an aesthetic
Punk is a mindset, it's a philosophy-- it's a rebellion against societal systems
When I say bibliopunk, I don't mean sweater vests and old library photos and quotes from classics.
Bibliopunk, to me, a punk librarian, is about freedom of information. It's about making sure everyone and anyone can have the resources they need to learn, whatever that means for them. It's no late fees and fighting against censorship. It's defunding the police and funding community resource centers that specialize in making sure there's a place where people can go to ask for help, to read books on any subject they can think of, to connect with events and organizations that exist to help THEM. It's about making zines and learning how to bookbind, because fuck the idea that traditional publishing and Amazon are the only people that can make something a book.
Punk academia, which is used colloquially here, is related to this-- it's saying fuck the academic systems that keep out the poor, the people of color, and the disabled. Fuck your Ivy Leagues, education is whatever the hell you make it. College should be free, classes should be accessible WITHOUT being forced to give up all of your personal financial and health information, curriculums need to include as many varying perspectives as they can because fuck the idea that a cishet abled white man is the authority on any given topic.
Bibliopunk, punk academia, and any other Tumblr "aesthetic" with the punk descriptor is not just a moodboard of photos you stole from Pinterest.
Because what's more punk than a public library?
#punk#dark academia#punk academia#bibliopunk#punk aesthetic#this has bugged me for a while#as someone who really cares about things like literature and writing#but is also very fucking angry at the systems that make them inaccessible to others#the only shit you find on bibliopunk is aesthetic posts#and nothing about actual values#ive thought about writing up like#a bibliopunk manifesto? zine? thing#but thats a lot of spoons#and i am but a small cripple

anyway, this disability pride month i would like to remind the abled people that just because i can do something doesn't mean i should.
just because i can walk three miles doesn't mean i should, because it will hurt like hell today, tomorrow, and for like four days after.
just because i can exercise doesn't mean i should, because maybe it would help but right now my arm feels like its about to pop out of it's socket and if i stand up i am going to pass out.
just because i can do schoolwork doesn't mean i should because my brain is currently fogged up with all the pain i am feeling right now.
just because i can doesn't mean i should.
#disability#cripple punk#::chronic brainrot::#i am pissed off at my parents rn and this is what came of it#disabled#chronic pain#actually hypermobile#orthostatic intolerance

Hey so after watching six episodes of The Handmaid's Tale I have come to the conclusion that we are approximately two steps left from it happening.
Look, the show practically gives a step by step guide. Look at the American election results, and the way Canadian politics are leaning. We're getting there.
So, heres what you're going to do:
Stash some cash: If you have extra funds, withdraw some. Stash it somewhere you would think to look that other people would not. Useful in all kinds of emergency situations.
Update your paperwork: My passport is expired, I should update that. In my case, I'm a dual citizen so I could get out of dodge fast if I needed to. Keep it somewhere safe with the cash. We're talking passports, birth certificates social security numbers, etc.
Keep physical copies: This is the digital age, but guard physical copies of what you do have closely. I have lots of cds and a cd player, pictures of me and my partner, books. Burning books is already a thing, I highly recommend purchasing books straight off of banned book lists.
Read up on your herbs: Its not witchy voodoo shit if it works. Theres simple stuff, mint tea for nausea, raspberry leaf for cramps, mugwort for you know what. Be careful, I am not saying this is safe, but it may be necessary. Also everybody likes a good cup of tea.
Bug out bag: For if you're really committed. This is a bag for survival situations, or if you have less than two minutes to leave your house. Read about it online. It should have everything you need (clothes, toiletries, food, medication) if you need to leave with what you can fit on your back.
Write: Keep written record about anything you don't want to forget. Journal entries, song lyrics, recipes, whatever. It does not matter, notebooks are something you can throw under one arm and go.
Powerful men are not your friends, religious leaders are not your friends, that acquaintance with questionable world views is not your friend. Create a close network of people you trust with your life. I'm not joking.
I am aware I sound cuckoo bananas to some of you and thats fine. I sound cuckoo bananas to myself. Women are losing agency, queer people are losing their lives, disabled people are being forced further and further under the poverty line. I check all three of the boxes above, this is reality.
If you have to pick one or two, pick Stash some cash and Update your paperwork.

I wish unspeakable violence on anyone and everyone who unironically use the terms "adhd paralysis" and "task paralysis". IT'S EXECUTIVE DYSFUNCTION. You have executive dysfunction.
There is no way anybody using these terms isn't aware of how ableist it is to take away not just the language of people who have paralytic disorders, but the entire NAME of our disorders. And even beyond that, to block out any tags and search results relating to said disorders with your million variations on those terms so that we can't form a community online, or even find each other at all. Fuck off. You are not paralysed, you have executive dysfunction. Adhd isn't even the only disorder that CAUSES executive dysfunction. Get over yourself.

Starting to realize that as a disabled person, nobody likes me and everyone around me either thinks it's funny or a huge inconvenience to them. I got an elevator key for the elevator at school, and for a second I thought "Well why should I even need a key? This should just be accessible to me anyway, I shouldn't need a doctors note to get access to an elevator" Turns out it's because random able-bodied kids will try to shove their way into the elevator with me and say shit like "Lemme catch a ride!"
When they aren't actively looking for a way to invade my space or take advantage of my disability somehow, they snicker at me and make jokes about kicking my cane and how funny it'd be. Well, I think it'd be funny if I jabbed your bitch ass in the gut with it! Better back the fuck up.
And like. Kids walk in front of me, walk around me, get in my way to get to class faster, etc. Why can't you just have some fucking decency? I'm trying to get to class on time, just like you. And unlike you, I have to walk across the school to get to the ONE elevator that's in the entire building. Just get the fuck out of my space and let me exist without worry that somebody is gonna kick my cane and make me fall.
#cane user#disability#physical disability#cripple punk#cpunk#c-punk#mobility aid#i am a raging cripple and my struggle is real.#no matter what you able-bodied assholes think.

hey fyi you reblog a post about real people's real-life disability experiences that don't pertain to you and tag or treat it as like smth pertaining to an oc or fictional character or fandom/fanfic nonsense (like making it about your oc or a ship or god forbid "wh*mp") 1. i invite you to maybe reconsider this treatment of discussions about real marginalized people's experiences that don't pertain to you as fodder for your personal wish-fulfillment/your silly little blorbos uwu and 2. i personally hate your guts lol.
#j#ableism#cpunk#cripple punk#honestly even if ur disabled that shit is annoying that's not what i post for i am a REAL person i am talking about REAL FUCKING PEOPLE.

God, man, I don’t mean to be abledist, but able bodied people are such an inconvenience.
Like I know you say that you NEED to be upstairs for this lesson, but one downstairs couldn’t hurt.
And like- why do they need to stand in all the hallways- couldn’t they just like- go somewhere else?
#I’ve had a very ableist day#if you could tell#I would love it if they could realise that actually they’re just as much#if not MORE of an inconvenience to me#than I am to them#like- you inconvenience me ALL DAY and do I complain?#no. I don’t. but the second you decide that being CLOSER to your dorm room is harder than GOING UP STAIRS#it’s a problem#disabled#disability#cripplepunk#cripple punk#angry cripple#cripple shit#cpunk#ableism
