Desmond knows Loid is a spy.

But he does not know Loid is Twilight.

There is a very important difference.

Loid's first contact with Desmond was in Ch38, about 6 months ago in story time. In this time, the Forger Family has been left alone. Loid was not arrested. Loid has not noticed anything suspicious. The SSS don't even suspect Loid (or else Yuri will be arresting Loid in a heartbeat).

This is very weird.

If Desmond knows Loid is Twilight (aka the exact spy running circles around the SSS like a bogeyman) that is immediate (1) expose West deep covert operations and (2) gain unconditional support from the SSS. It is a super politically advantage ploy that Desmond stumbled into out of pure luck. It is likely the biggest break this man has ever gotten in his life. It's been 6 months, Desmond should have all the information he needs to turn in Twilight.

But he has not.

I reread Chapter 38. It could be the translation, but nothing in Loid's thoughts reveal that he (1) is Twilight or (2) works for Wise. Hell, technically nothing proves he's not from Ostania. He's a spy, yes. But a spy for who?

Theory: I don't think Desmond knows. He's the party leader. He must be approached by spies all the time. There's a reason why he's so careful and secretive. It's just a smart thing to do when you are trying to start a war.

Of course Desmond is suspicious, but until he has more information there is no reason to take any action.

So for now, Loid is (relatively) safe.

Until Desmond gets even more suspicious, perhaps about this spy/psychiatrist that has a growing influence on his wife? Perhaps his wife's peculiar friend that recommended the therapy? Perhaps about a young pink haired girl who his son thinks can also read minds?

okay okay ive had this fic in the works for literally over a year and just remembered about it and in it i put my thoughts on this into words. even tho ronans suicide attempt is seen as not actually an attempt but rather an attack by the night horrors, i really think it actually was. he was alread y getting exteremy self destructive and starting to really not care, like i mean quickly deteriourating after naills death and auroras whole going to sleep thing. he was so fucking depressed and lost at this time that i personally think that he accepted his death here and didnt want to live. even in tdt he tells henassey "they thought it was something as simple as a razor blade." might hint at how complex his feelings were and how dangerous his mind was at that ppiont; he was too unstable for blades and needed to accept something more dangerous and complex and more liekly to succeed from his mind. i think this whole thing contributes to why he reacted to Kavinskys death the way he did, adam and gansey arent as badly affected by it, sure they feel bad and think it was a bad thing to happen but they saw K as worse. Ronan saw K as something chaotic but interesting, perhaps something to hold on to. he saw K's struggle first hand in ways gansey and adam never did. he was extremely similar to K. i wonder if he thought he could save him? so many things. man i love these characters.

After looking at my notes from tsc, I think tsc2 is called The Golden Raven because USC’s court is called the Gold Court.

That unhesitating trust warmed him all the way through, but all Jeremy said was, "Technically it's the Gold Court"

Like yeah obviously there’s going to be deeper symbolism behind it, but I completely forgot it’s not called the sunshine court but the gold court, so it actually makes sense for the reference to the color gold to connect with the name of the court. And if this is going to be Jean’s first time on the Gold Court, he might be referred to as “the golden raven” outright by the media? Maybe idk? Anyways that might be the surface level reason for the name, we’ll see.
