Abilities: - Odette is a beacon to lost souls, ghosts, and spirits. They flock to her and under the umbrella of her influence their forms are altered into that of moths. They cling to her, calling for aid which she lends as best she can. Odette is a psychopomp, she guides the dead without judgment. She can see, hear, and otherwise interact with these lost and stuck souls. She has a custom job fusion of WHM (Conjury)/PLD.

- A strong defensive fighter, Odette prefers her shield and conjurer’s cane to the sword that hangs at her side. She wields her shield well, trusting in it fully to keep herself and her loved ones safe. When she plants her cane, the river rises. 

- Kulning is an ancient form of herding calls used over long distances. Odette learned the skill in her youth and uses it still, calling in her small flock of Karakul at her home. Is this important enough to put here? Probably not, it’s just an additional fun fact! For you!

My ghost and pals headcanons (hell yeah insert explosion and fireworks in the background as you can hear a tiger roar)

(ps: none of these are canon to Ghost and Pals lore, these are just made from my itty bitty brain cuz I wanna write fanfics) (WARNING: This is mostly Communications and The Distortionist headcanons sue me)

-Christopher and Frances have known each other since childhood. This headcanon was inspired by the canon lore, where Frances was from a very wealthy family, and you can assume Christopher was too since he has a whole mansion. I like headcanoning them as neighbours that couldn't STAND each other. I can imagine Christopher going like "Ewww she has cooties" and Frances pulling on his hair when they were kids

-Continuing that headcanon, I believe Christopher also inspired Frances to be a rebellious teenager, but unlike Frances, Christopher silently rebelled against his family in very subtle ways. (Like for example swearing and the saying "pardon me"), Meanwhile, Frances rebelled with a lot of confidence and pride.

-The Elsners and Pierres were family friends and because of that Frances was supposed to see Christopher a lot.

-Lilia was one of Frances' pals when they were very young, and thus they met Christopher. IK IT DOESN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE, BUT HEAR ME OUT ON THE NEXT HEADCANON.

-Lilia is an AFAB nonbinary lesbian (when they reincarnated). However, back when they were alive they were still in the closet (cuz y'know homophobic society), and since back in the day it was seen as scandalous to have male friends as a female, they hung around Frances a lot and one day Frances teased Lilia for some very dumb reason. Christopher was like "Hey, leave them alone!", not because he wanted to protect Lilia necessarily, but because he wanted to make Frances mad.

-And Lilia befriended Christopher but kept their friendship a secret (because society would go wild, SOCIETYYYY)

-Christopher is Aroace (because I am too), and Frances is bisexual aromantic because I said so

-later in life, Christopher was betrothed with some random girl (who soon became ASLTW from The Distortionist canon lore) because his family wanted to marry him off.

-Let's call the girl Marigold (because I like that name). Marigold liked Christopher A LOT and trusted him, thinking he's like a prince charming due to his "gentle tone of voice" and acting like a gentleman in general (When in fact, Christopher was just pretending to be a gentleman, since he was used to always pretending)

-but Christopher realized something because of her "goo-goo eyes" whenever she interacted with him. He realized he could easily manipulate her.

-And so Christopher started manipulating everyone around him. His siren-like voice worked on many, except for Frances cuz she was smart enough to realize that he was manipulative, and since she didn't like him in the first place, she began ghosting him, leaving Lilia all alone with him.

-Christopher immediately started realizing how bad it'd be for him to be left all alone, and since Frances was the first to leave, he decided to make a suicide pact with Lilia and Marigold, right after he managed to poison everyone in the Pierre mansion as Christopher was scared of his plan failing.

-After they gone oof-ed (literally), Lilia was the only one to survive. Due to how traumatic that event would be, they moved to another state and most likely changed their name. What they didn't know was that they'd return back after they reincarnated.

-Ok enough with Christopher, now let's move on to Frances. Frances never knew what happened to Christopher as she immediately left her family home after becoming an adult, became a party animal, had fun, then nine months later Henry was born.

1. the last book I read:

GOTH WESTERN by LIVALI WYLE — well. technically, it’s an indie graphic novel. but it’s a western meets magical realism about necromancy, revenge, and the power of love. and lesbians. I burned through it in a couple hours sitting because I was so gripped by it tbh.

2. a book I recommend:

THE HACIENDA by ISABEL CAÑAS — an absolute all time fave book in my heart; I would say one doesn’t even need to necessarily love horror to get invested in this one, since it also involves very interesting critique of spanish colonialism, religion, and class struggles in post-independence mexico only using hauntings as the lens to view it.

3. a book that I couldn’t put down:

THE PRIORY OF THE ORANGE TREE by SAMANTHA SHANNON — I was glued to this book for a solid two weeks despite its length. I have a lot that I would change about the pacing and certain events or qualities of some characters’ outcomes, but it was such a fun fantasy read, and I had a difficult time even moving on from the setting and protagonists once I was done.

4. a book I’ve read twice (or more):

THE SONG OF ACHILLES by MADELINE MILLER — my first time reading this myth retelling was my freshman year of college, so I reread it again ten years later to see if it would still hold up for how much I loved it, and it absolutely did. the perspective of the man standing beside and in love with the hero interwoven with the tragedy of achilles and patroclus takes me right out and the passages that tumblr enjoys to quote from it have so much more impact in the full context of the narrative.

5. a book on my TBR:

OUR WIVES UNDER THE SEA by JULIA ARMFIELD — this poor book keeps getting knocked down on my TBR but I’m determined to read it this year. I’m intrigued by the horror of the protagonist’s wife ‘coming back wrong’ in a sense, and the recommendations based on its similarity to ANNIHILATION, but also the fact it seems to be a wlw scifi horror, too.

6. a book I’ve put down:

AFFINITY by SARAH WATERS — I wanted to like this one so bad, considering how often waters has been hyped up to me as The Author for historical lesbian novels and the fact it delves into victorian spiritualism, but the pacing felt so slow at getting to the point in the plot, and when it finally did, the twist put me off on finishing the end. it’s probably more of a case of ‘it’s not you, it’s me’ but I def had to DNF it.

7. a book on my wishlist:

GHOST STATION by S.A. BARNES — space horror quickly became a fave niche genre that I got into last year, so I’ve been very excited for this release, too. I’m also a fan of how barnes writes atmospheric dread and I have high expectations for it.

8. a favorite book from my childhood:

WUTHERING HEIGHTS by EMILY BRONTË — it altered my brain chemistry as a teenager in high school and I haven’t been the same since I read it. I distinctly remember listening to ‘you said I killed you — haunt me then!’ read aloud and having to pretend like it didn’t make me feel so completely unhinged in the middle of class.

9. a book you would give to a friend:

PIRANESI by SUSANNA CLARKE — I was recommended this one by a friend to begin with, so it feels like an even more perfect book to pass forward. I think it’s one of those books that’s easy to get absorbed into even if it’s not a typical genre one would read, and it’s such a life-altering experience to go through with the protagonist, too. the underlying message that we’re all changed by our own trials and we’re never the same as we were before lingers with me.

10. a book of poetry or lyrics you own:

CRUSH by RICHARD SIKEN — it’s taken me so long to finally track down a physical copy at my bookstore but it was worth it because it remains my fave book of poetry to date. I could quote so many lines, after how hard they’ve hit me, and some of them have influenced my own writing or pairings in some ways.

11. a nonfiction book you own:

HAVANA NOCTURNE by T.J. ENGLISH — back in 2015-2016ish I went through a true crime phase in the prohibition era through the foundation of the US mafia, and this is a very informative book on how the mob became tied to cuba and how the revolution affected it.

12. what are you currently reading:

AN EDUCATION IN MALICE by S.T. GIBSON — I stumbled across this retelling of carmilla set in a late 60s massachusetts women’s college after reading gibson’s A DOWRY OF BLOOD and had to give it a try. I’m enjoying it so far; the prose is full of thick emotional yearning and electric chemistry, and the balance in the narrative of toxic mentorship, historical romantic and sensual attraction between women without shaming them for it, and vampiric elements is really fun.

13. what are you planning on reading next:

WHAT FEASTS AT NIGHT by T. KINGFISHER — I only found out the other day that the sequel to WHAT MOVES THE DEAD was even released but I’m so desperate for the next part of alex easton’s story (and how eerily kingfisher writes horror) that it shot up to my next read.

Hua Cheng-Heaven Official’s Blessing / Tian Guan Ci Fu

Qualifications:

Hua Cheng is the main love interest in Heaven Official's Blessing, a ghost who has been in love with the hero Xie Lian for over 800 years. As if being dead isn't enough, he once clawed out his own eye in order to save a group of humans from marauding ghosts shortly before his ascension to Ghost King.

Fun fact: between when he was submitted and when this poll was written the mods both read all of TGCF. Also low key I feel like gay for his highness is a little bit of an understatement.

Keyla Detmer-Star Trek Discovery

Qualifications:

She was in a space battle which resulted in a severe unspecified injury to her head and left eye. Because of this, she relies on a prosthetic eye and a prosthetic of unknown use on her head. She also suffers from PTSD due to this and other incidents. It is popularly theorized that she is a lesbian, and should be in a relationship with Joann Owosekun, another character.

Propaganda:

She may have very few actual character beats or lines, but she is very cool and very gay! Let's give it up for lesbian spaceship pilots!

First thoughts on a Fantasy High Dead Boy Detectives AU:

Ayda is in Edwin's role as the brains of the agency and the ghost from 1916 who escaped Hell. Her father was wealthy enough that she was able to go to a private all-girl's boarding school, but as the only Black girl at the school---who was also visibly queer and neurodivergent to boot---she was treated as an outcast, right up until she got sacrificed in a prank gone wrong. Now that she's escaped, Ayda uses the skills she's picked up and her love of mysteries to help out her fellow ghosts, though she's... not exactly the best at processing her feelings. Especially when those feelings involve her partner in solving crime.

Fig is in Charles's role, because there's no better fit for our lovely, heart-on-her-sleeve punk than the lovely, heart-on-his-sleeve punk---and let's be real, Fig is the most 80's Bad Kid. She attended the same boarding school as Ayda (just, y'know, seventy decades in the future), and while she fell in with the popular girls easily, it didn't take long for them to turn on her once she stood up for someone they were bullying... and, well, that led to her death. While Fig acts carefree and wisecracking, she carries a lot of guilt with her over the fact that she'd written off her family once she found out that Gilear wasn't her real dad, and not only did she never get to reconnect with them, but the experience was jarring enough that she made a lot of bad decisions, which led to equally bad relationships.

Adaine is in Crystal's role as our favorite psychic that is full of rage and anxiety. Her "David" is Penelope, who posed as a cool, older girl who gave Adaine the attention that she was lacking at home---and eventually became her first girlfriend, though that relationship was... not great. Now without a lot of her memories, Adaine's stuck with the Dead Girl Detectives, much to Fig's delight---and Ayda's, eventually. She gets over her jealousy way quicker than Edwin did. While Adaine wasn't a "make someone walk into traffic" kind of person pre-amnesia, she did carry over a lot of bitterness that curdled into something worse when she got swept up into the popular crowd, so... yeah, Fig and Ayda are kind of a blessing for her.

Figuring out the Niko equivalent was a bit harder, but I eventually settled on making her Lucy. She kind of fits the bill of someone who has a lot of sadness but is still unflinchingly kind, and between the pale hair and being dead-but-not-really-dead... yeah, Lucy's wonderful, and it means if I ever write this, I get to figure out who she is as I write her. Also, her dandelion sprites are Kipperlilly and Ruben, because I thought that'd be hilarious.

Thinking more into that, I decided that Sam would be a pretty good Jenny, seeing as she's got the bitchy-yet-loving energy that we all need. She's tired yet protective, closed off yet oddly kind... it works. Even though her style's more of a, uh "mermaid academia" type than goth, I think she'd make a really good Jenny.

And here's where you're gonna have to hear me out... Kristen is the Cat King, or rather, the Cat Queen. As tempting as it is to make her the church girl lesbian who's just come out and is struggling in a small town, I really wanted to hone in on her energy in Junior Year---a confident, easygoing, and hella flirtatious butch who's still a total mess underneath her swagger. I like to think that she was a human girl living in a religious family once (say, when settlers first arrived in Port Townsend), but she got really into witchcraft and wound up devoting herself to the cats, becoming an otherworldly being with nine lives as a result. As it stands, Kristen is hella fun, even if most of what she does is cause trouble.

With that in mind, Kalina was really the only character who I felt matched up with Ester's energy---except for Aelwyn, of course, but seeing as she's Adaine's sister and all, it didn't feel quite right. It could also tie in with Kristen's backstory---say, maybe Kalina was the person who taught Kristen about witchcraft, Kristen wound up getting the better end of the deal, and Kalina's still burnt out about two hundred years later. And in an irony of ironies, that resentment led Kalina to have a wolf familiar instead of a cat... who is, of course, our lovely girl Tracker. (Yes, Tracker has been turned into a girl before, and yes, she and Kristen are exes.)

I'm not quite sure who I want the Night Nurse to be, and you can tell that I'm saving roles for Gorgug, Fabian, Riz, and Ragh in case we meet characters like them in season 2---though, I have been fiddling around with the idea of Riz being an angel and a former agent of Heaven who Ayda and Fig have basically adopted into the agency. This is a first draft, so... yep!

You're no storm au Isolde is so funny to me 🤣

She gives off strong: "You are a lesbian because you like women. I am a lesbian because I hate men AND love women" vibes, it's great 🤣

I also appreciate the implication that while Isolde "hides" a lot about herself, it's not because she thinks she needs to out of shame or fear but more so she works off a "well you didn't ask" mindset mixed with a bit of "it isn't as bad as it sounds" when discussing anything about herself. Which works great (it worries them deeply) when dealing with inquisitive/sensitive people.

Does she still suffer from seizures or (non paranormal) hallucinations in this AU, by the way? Or take any medication to help balance out her potential mental health issues if she has them in this AU?

✰. Yeah I wanted to address as much of canon as I could while still staying on true to what Isolde would be like with modern day. Also, hating men and liking women are separate to her from her experiences and PTSD. If she stopped liking women she'd just be aroace, there is zero reality where someone like her would even consider liking men.

She pretty actively resents all men, even Theopil, in the original story, but for women she can recognize that Evangeline IS sick and out of her mind, so it’s not the same with her. Mr Dittarsdorf is “perfectly sane” keeping his child around someone who wants to climb up to being a higher class noble, and even if he does his best later to find her help Theopil basically stayed away from the house as long as possible as a child… She rightfully resents them for a long time, but I think if she had time away from her family and home with a good support system, she'd realize how Theopil was a child just like she was.

✰. Isolde hiding herself is also modeled off canon because a part of her possession with The Small Room is the fact that she was hiding herself away from the world. She was tired, traumatized, and sick of the real world. Mr Karl groomed Isolde into a lot, and one of those things was conditioning her to not consider leaving Vienna. Her sense of duty is close to Mesmers where she doesn’t actually hold any sentiments towards her work, it’s something she MUST do. Fate made her a Dittarsdorf and she’ll be cursed like one in her opinion: it’s the template of her fate.

If Kakania was in the modern era then she’d absolutely want to explore and get away, and while her father disapproved of her practice, he would still be somewhat interested in the fact that his kid got a full ride scholarship to one of the most famous institutions in the world. Isolde doesn’t think of leaving cause it’s all she’s ever known, and like Mesmer, someone with severe PTSD she’ll seek something she knows for comfort. Isolde has such a massive dependency on Kakania as a source of comfort that if she left, Isolde would do everything to leave as well.

Actually, if she wasn’t possessed I’d probably write her in with Disassociate Identity Disorder cause her detachment, memory loss at times, and disconnects in personality would’ve made for a fun read, but there’d be an issue with possession being DID is ehhhh and also it be a lot to juggle. But I’ll probably write a lot more things of her in the future alongside Trista because she’s heavily implied to be the main ghost in control of Isolde.

✰. Isolde’s tendency to brush things off also comes from the fact that one of the first things she was taught for opera singing was that she WOULD get stalkers. Not that she needed to stay safe even, but that she would be harassed and obsessed over in life, and there was nothing anyone would do to protect her or even SHE could do for herself. Any issue she had and tried to bring up was immediately diminished, and only Theopil cared about the warning signs and similarities to the way Evangeline suffered. Tooth Fairy is upper middle class in the way Kakania is, her family has a long line of distinguished medical professionals. She’s also spent a lot of time in the SPDM by now, so she’s seen a lot of signs that children or even staff in the Foundation suffer from. Tooth Fairy is an extremely empathetic person, and she’s content to listen to others and takes enjoyment from it too.

✰. As for seizures, she definitely still suffers from them. I still wanna stay close to how they are in canon, just them getting older and living their lives without the Storm and inching towards the modern era. The timeline still goes like, Isolde childhood, letting the ghosts (mainly Trista) take over her life, and meeting Kakania at 15 when she got attached to her, and the ending of that possession at 18 when Kakania promised to treat her (it’s just a promise to do so in the future this time). I don’t have much of their backstory IN Vienna built yet, but Isolde had an incident where she was forced to stop letting the ghosts possess her (likely an incident surrounding the death of Mr Karl still).

I'll probably retcon it later by accident, but for medication, if the story's time would've been in 2007 and they were 18 then, they'd JUST be getting to 2024. I think medication would be hard for both of them, I'm gonna say Isolde would be sensitive to medication cause yes and also her issues are mostly a side effect of years of possession.

I do think Kakania takes some mild anxiety medication though. In her later years, once she can't spin herself up the wall to cope with not knowing what to do in any give situation, she turns to silent panicking until she has an answer (something she's working with in therapy).

As for Isolde, she can cope with the after effects of spending her childhood possessed. She also does a few small things to stop it from getting worse like sewing wards into the inner sides of all her clothing.

Another kind of fun tidbit is animals can sense she's been possessed and they're VERY wary of her. Even a very friendly dog wouldn't even be seen in the same room as her (I have a separate WIP of Isolde's normal girl adventures).

A Ghost Train and The Apparition of Classism

The most iconic scene of the Warriors 1979 is their train ride home Coney Island.

The most striking scene during this series of events is when a group of yuppie prom kids enter the train and sit across the Warriors.

We as an audience are made to compare and contrast between these two groups with one being the golden standard and the other being less than ideal.

Ultimately, the Teens are supposed to be a reflection of what the Warriors could have been if they got their lives together.

" Maybe they could have been coming back from a night of fun instead of barely surviving the night if they were on the right track"

The concept album not only flips this on its head, but flat-out rebukes the conclusion the film came to .

The Same Train Home is not only one of the most beautiful songs in the entire album, but ties together all of the themes regarding social hierarchy, unification, classism, and bigotry that Cyrus talked about to come to a more radical notion

The song (as many before me have pointed out) basically frames the subway as a metaphor for the afterlife and makes the assertion that "death comes for us all and it is the great equalizer"

There are several different characters all from different social classes present .

The Warriors- an all-female gang of color who are still rationalizing the intense misogyny and trauma they've been forced to endure.

A Single Mother- who's performing a song in her native language for change with her baby strapped to her back.

Then there's the after mention Rich Kids who just got back from their luxurious night and spend most of the song judging the Warriors but particularly Mercy based off of the fact that she .... Exist I guess?

You may notice that the song spends an awful lot of time on these snotty brats, but this is no mere coincidence.

This is what we call in writing The Man behind The Man.

These arrogant teenagers are a representation of the social elites that uphold the system that causes police like Barnes and Victor to run loose and use whatever means necessary to crush those beneath them to uphold a pseudo vision of paradise for them.

In some ways this is the Warriors staring the true villains of the entire album right in the face.

They're completely unaware of the trouble people like them cause for society and are more fascinated by the fact that they're in the presence of marginalized people and are probably annoyed because of it

That's where everything sort of comes together.

The reason this ethereal vibe we get isn't just because this is the same track where Captain Victor brutally murdered Fox, but it shows that life nor death discriminate.

It doesn't matter whether you were born into a marginalized community or a more privileged one we are all going to need the same fate eventually.

Moreover, this completely vindicates Cyrus's message from the beginning of the album and shows just how fruitless the actions of the police and even Luther were.

It doesn't matter how many artificial doors the system and the elites that perpetuated try to manufacture to keep marginalized communities down, they're still are going to have to leave their comfort zones and acknowledge that different walks of life exist whether they want you or not.

All things must live in Union and trying to fight that is pretty much like fighting death because regardless of if you accept it it will happen regardless of your opinion.

On that note, Mercy starts to become insecure because of all of the rude gawking the teenagers are giving her and it starts to make her feel very uncomfortable.

That's when Swan delivers a passionate lesbian kiss that's been foreshadowed since they met in orphan town.

This moment is pretty significant because I need to remind you'll that this is the 1970s!

A period that modern-day conservatives uphold as being the pinnacle of the golden era.

Where things like queerness and "Wokeism" didn't exist yet all of us know that this was never true and classist hoods are forced to engage with the fact that there are identities that exist outside of their privilege bubbles and it's pretty good writing all around.

Classism is essentially a Scooby-Doo like phantom that we as a society are forced to believe in because people with billions of dollars tell us to and they try to spend a narrative that fits lower class people against each other when really nothing truly separates us.

All of these characters regardless of where they came from are all on a train going to their set destinations and at least for the teenagers this is probably the only time they've seen more than one black or brown person in their entire lives.

It's probably up there as one of my favorite moments in the entire album this for how it kind of makes me rethink everything that's happened so far.

WIBTA for telling my girlfriend I cheated?

Okay so this is probably going to be a lot. People involved are me (24F), my girlfriend M (25F), our best friend A (22M), and our other best friend, A’s boyfriend, S (20M).

So. For background, we’ve all been friends for years and it was very much the four of us against the world. I met M first because we were roommates at college, and she knew A and S from our classes, who were already dating at the time, and introduced us. I’m a lesbian, S is gay, and M and A are bi. We’ve always been a very openly affectionate and sometimes sexual friend group, ignoring the fact that me and S never did anything because of our incompatible genders/sexualities. No one had sex outside of our partners, but we were definitely much more close than most friends, and casual making out etc. was a thing that happened between me, A and M quite often. It was always while we were in a group, never alone or without anyone’s knowledge. I was never attracted to A, again I’m a lesbian, but due to a mixture of just naturally lax boundaries and sexual trauma I don’t really see sex or sexual activity as anything sacred or meaningful so I didn’t mind messing around with A in that way for fun. We never explicitly said not to do anything alone, but we never said it was okay either, it was just never really a situation that came up.

So. This is where it becomes a lot. At the beginning of 2024 S was murdered. A and I found his body. The legal stuff is still ongoing obviously but the person responsible was caught. It was violent, random, and completely unprovoked. S was the kindest person any of us had ever known. None of us coped with this well. We’ve all always been very impulsive, emotional people, S was kind of the token responsible guy keeping us (occasionally) grounded even though honestly more often we were convincing him to join us instead 🥲

We all responded in different ways but none of them were good. A was a complete mess exacerbated by the fact that the last time he and S had spoken it had been an argument. I was just angry at the world and the only time I wasn’t sobbing or yelling I was drunk or high. M essentially vanished off the face of the earth for a month and ghosted us and didn’t talk to us at all.

I’m not going to offer excuses for what happened. I could say we were messed up, I could say I felt abandoned by M or assumed she’d left me, I could say we were coping, but none of that matters because what matters is A and I slept together. This was about 5 weeks after S’s death and M’s disappearance. It was very abrupt, kind of impersonal, and sort of just. “I need to do something and you’re the person here” vibes. I obviously was not actually attracted to him as a man, but I just didn’t care who it was in that moment and I gather neither did he. I had followed him into a sort of out of the way campus building people don’t use much because he was very fired up and upset, we talked about S and M and how fucking devastating and enraging it all was, he just grabbed me, and it went from there. We were both very dissociated throughout it and agreed it wouldn’t happen again.

A few days after this, M got back in contact. She apologized for disappearing and said she was coping in her own way and needed isolation but that it wasn’t fair to us. She said she wanted us all to put everything that had happened since S’s death behind us and not talk about it because she assumed we had all done things we weren’t proud of in grief and that she didn’t want us to dwell on them. She just wanted us to heal together and stick together from now on.

We agreed but I felt fucking awful. I spoke to A about it after this and it was complicated further by him admitting that he had been attracted to me since the day we met and that this was part of how fucked up his emotions felt because he was full of guilt both for feeling that way and for arguing with S before he died. He said S had been aware of him wanting me and had been relatively fine with it but that it wasn’t an outright crush, he didn’t have romantic feelings for me, it was just physical attraction paired with us being close friends and him trusting me. I reaffirmed that I’m a lesbian and am not genuinely attracted to him like that and that I love M and want to be with her, and he said he completely understood and that he was still in love with S. We both agreed it had been a grief thing for us and only happened as a result of our mindsets and emotional states in that moment.

However I still feel horrifically guilty for not telling M. Part of me thinks she’s guessed something happened and that’s part of why she said to forget anything we’ve done, but I don’t know if that’s just wishful thinking to weasel my way out of confronting it. A very firmly believes I shouldn’t tell her both because of her wishes and because he thinks since it didn’t mean anything it would ruin our relationship for nothing. But I still feel that it was a huge betrayal and that my confusion at her disappearing and my grief doesn’t just mean I get to pretend it didn’t happen.

Everything is still so fresh and we’re still trying to cope, and we haven’t even gotten to the trial and facing him yet. Sometimes I almost go to tell her and it feels like she knows and changes the subject so we never get the chance. But I don’t know if I’m just making things up. Would it be a bad idea to keep pushing and just sit her down and tell her straight up, should I wait until we’ve all moved on a little more, or should I just shut up about it forever?

No but genuinely, in the beginning of the show he's actually really annoying (affectionate) and insistent that he remains in control of the house and its occupants, as he's 'commanding officer', much to the annoyance of literally everyone else, but even by the end of series 1 he's using his annoying schemes for good (for the good of the other ghosts that is - takes a little longer for it to be good for the actually alive people). He also really mellows out through in series 2 through 4, with him still being kind of annoying in s2, but this really changes in this season, due to a multitude of factors I will not be expanding on (the short of it is he had an argument with another ghost (they made up) and then saw some lesbians get married (woohoo!) and helped organise it to some extent. Skipping talking about him in series 3 even though it's my favourite (have to mention the fact that one of the ghosts who is his pseudo-daughter canonically sees him as her father in her flashbacks to life though). In series 4 his pseudo-daughter helps him to have fun without rigid routine, further demonstrating his development in that he actually lets himself have fun (symbolised here, I think, by him taking off his jacket and looking at bugs all day). He is my favourite character and therefore must win (/j).

yharnam archaeology??? 👀👀👀

hi I forgot that the blog I was rbing that from was a blog I followed for bloodborne stuff LMAO

okay so. this is heavily inspired by

Me being an anthropology student (who got into it because Cynthia pokemon is an archaeologist and I adore her, I took one (1) class and then got really invested, the important thing is. Archaeology go brr)

Me taking a very interesting class this semester that focuses on paleopathology, which is as my professor put it "the study of ancient suffering" but realistically is figuring out whatever you can from human remains. Whereas archaeology as a whole is about human culture from material remains, which can be actual bodies but can also be other things like pottery and building foundations.

Me teetering on the brink of being way too into Bloodborne for my own good despite not normally being much of a horror fan or a fan of particularly grimdark things. I Don't Know What's Different About Bloodborne. (it's probably that I'm a lesbian and I like lady maria, sue me)

Anyway. I got to thinking one time after class. That archaeologists would be SO FUCKING CONFUSED BY YHARNAM.

I'm tentatively placing Bloodborne as somewhere in the nineteenth century based on general vibes (according to my dad and his deep passion for weaponry of all kinds, a lot of the things in the game would have been derived later, but tbh if I lived in a place that constantly had to deal with people turning into horrifying beasts I think I'd innovate the hell out of things to get better weaponry so I didn't die too) and this theoretical au would be set in the modern day. so it's been a Hot Minute since the game ended and I think I was considering Yharnam Sunrise as the ending for. Reasons.

There's this group of researchers who end up heading to Yharnam, bankrolled by some rich heir or something who's got more money than sense (he dies or possibly turns into a beast from stupidity very early on) and possibly they're the last in a bunch of groups who went there and died because even hundreds of years after the horrors there are still So Many Ways For It To Go Badly? Undecided on that front, I'm still trying to figure out what (if anything) would actually be preserved.

Highlights of my vague plans:

The team finds Gilbert's journal. They all get really attached to Gilbert because that just kind of tends to happen. Which is unfortunate because they know damn well he probably didn't survive very long after the last page in his diary, but they didn't find a body, so...?

It takes a while for them to realize that the very canine skeletons have human DNA. At which point everyone is just. Very fucking confused. And also are realizing that maybe all those writings about the beast plague weren't actually about rabies (which does not leave a trace on the skeleton, fun fact! I wanted to do my project on rabies but I had to pick a pathology that had an effect on the skeleton. Alas)

There are so many arguments over who that grave behind the Hunter's Workshop belongs to. SO MANY. (I personally think it's very likely that is Maria's, but the team won't have any way of knowing that! If the headstone is unreadable by game times it's not gonna be any more readable centuries later!)

You determine whether something is bone by licking it. Someone finds an Amygdala skull and somehow, through the sort of stupidity that only happens in horror movies before people realize they're in horror movies, someone gets dared to lick it. This results in a very horrified Insight increase and the revelation that the weird fucking thing is made of bone. Also, that Amygdala's ghost is interested in the team now. Oops. This probably will go fine, right...?

What the FUCK are they going to think of all the statues of Great Ones. Probably (reasonably) that they are statues portraying something with great cultural significance to Yharnam, and possibly religious significance. Less reasonable is the fact that Great Ones... actually exist... and that SOMEONE is going to get enough Insight by the end to see those Amygdalas. Possibly the whole team tbh.

There is going to be so much arguing over how the fuck to cite shit. How do you cite some guy who supposedly disappeared centuries ago and is still hanging around in another dimension that you honestly aren't sure how to leave But You'll Worry About That Later, The First Hunter Is A Primary Source!!! How do you cite a ghost. How do you cite hallucinations and visions.

Possibly the Doll sneaks onto the team by pretending to be a survivor of a previous expedition, because tbh I think the Moon Presence can do what it wants and I think it would be VERY interested in these new bitches rocking up to Yharnam after a while. And, y'know, that goes fine until someone finds a picture of her. Or of Lady Maria. (Or until they reach the Abandoned Old Workshop, depending on the situation and if there's another version of said doll there to be found.)

Every. Single. Member. Of the team. Has some connection to Yharnam. Almost none of them know this originally. They will find out. Rip to Rom the Vacuous Spider's great-great-grandniece who discovers the hard way (finding Byrgenwerth's paperwork) why she was the first in her family to graduate uni, just not the first to attend it.

(Notable exception to this rule is the person who is convinced that his great-great-great-probably a few more in there-grandmother is Lady Maria. This gets very funny when the descendant of the player Hunter trips into the Hunter's Nightmare, which still exists due to said player Hunter poking their head in and wisely dipping immediately, and who manages to prevent a bossfight by blurting out "oh shit you're Jerry's great-grandma!")

(There may be lesbianisms involved. And some light necromancy. Idk I like Lady Maria a lot and I got enabled too damn much and I think it would be very funny for the group to return to civilization with an extra person. Or two.)

In summary, I have no plot (yet) apart from archaeology and being way too invested in the game, but I really want to write this someday once I actually finish said game. And also I'm having a grand old time coming up with characters to put through the Horrors. The archaeologist is named Cynthia Parker and. Well. If you remember the superhero identity of a certain character called Peter Parker, you might be able to figure out who she's distantly related to.

Other ideas include: player Hunter descendant, someone very distantly descended from a Cainhurst exile, and Jerry who is 100% certain his great-several-times-great-grandmother is Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower and is 100% wrong about that. Jerry is the single party member with no actual connection to Yharnam and we love him for it.

To celebrate Mabon (the Autumn equinox, also Wiccan Thanksgiving) here is The Hex Girls (Wiccan Eco-Goth band) singing Earth, Wind, Fire, and air. The song and holiday are all about appreciating what Mother Earth provides for us. The song was supposed to be "Earth, Water, Fire, and Air" but someone at Warner Brothers made them change the words for copyright concerns even though the elements are Earth, Air, Fire, and Water and Spirit in Wiccan elemental beliefs. The Hex Girls performed this and three other songs for the Scooby Doo animated movie Scooby Doo and The Witches Ghost from 1999 (featuring Tim Curry). They were pretty much Goth Spice Girls. This movie was the first time I'd seen a cartoon address the spiritual beliefs of Wicca and it was very positive. This is one of my favorite Scooby Doo animated movies because 1. The ghost was real, it wasn't someone in a costume. 2. Tim Curry was in it. (He's in two animated Scooby Doo movies. He's also the Goblin King in Scooby Doo and The Goblin King) 3. It teaches about Wicca in a positive light, in fact only a pure hearted Wiccan could banish the ghost. 4. I really loved the music in it. 5. It was fun seeing Velma crush on Ben Ravencroft (long before they canonically made her a lesbian. I am sick and tired of shipwars, & pressing peoples buttons against Sabezra/Ezrabine…

For the past 9 years that I’ve been around from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and Tumblr. I seen a bunch of anti Sabezra /Ezrabine shippers been hating on Ezrabine/Sabezra throughout 9 years with passion.

They make it the same old claim call “siblings,”Friendzone” friendships gay, lesbian,, over and over blah blah blah … there’s a lot of people that they don’t want to see Sabezra/Ezrabine… throughout 4 seasons of Rebels I saw the comments from social media, making their claims when they shipped about.

In Season 3 I still never get over the fact that Sabine hugged Kanan instead of Ezra, which is a total insulted

Why, in the world that Sabine never gave Ezra Bridger the credit that he’s ever done for her throughout Rebels… my personal take that Ezra Bridger was overlooked and unappreciated.

Ezra tries to help Sabine training, Sabersticks in rebels season3 (trials of the darksaber.)3 and lastly, Ezra save Sabine 7 times through missions in 3 seasons even though in Ahsoka series, saving Sabine twice in one mission,,. Including rescuing Sabine‘s father. From Rebels Season 4 to Ahsoka Series Sabine has develop her feelings for Ezra , through 10 years of the timeline.. and on the other hand, but in episode 6 why the the directors including Dave Filoni, did not show the real emotion of Sabine & Ezra’s reunion? They act like they see eachother for days and that is a red flag.🚩

I guess it’s time they need to wake up and open their eyes and face the reality. The writers and directors got it all wrong and that is also criticizing the show.

And let’s be real Sabine wren has never seen Ezra Bridger in 10 MF years! And never showed the realistic emotion? I find that out why in the writers are making Sabine like a hypocrite and act like never have feelings for Ezra.

She’s been hiding her feelings through a decade..

Ezra Bridger has grown mature strong good looking man also high value.. Sabine has made a big mistake to reject, ghosting him and pushing him away. And he is not the same so-called “ annoying kid “ and he’s not that person anymore.Then Sabine turned herself around and she felt that she cared quite. Honestly she fail in love with him.

I don’t want to hear with this so-called cliché for me. That is an excuse for people, saying that.

As for Dave Flioni? He been playing mind games throughout 9 years, and he kept ducking over that.
