For all of them! Oh… very well, for you.

ODETTE - She’s extremely gracious. She's crying with joy. It is a blessing to receive a gift at all, so jot that down! Genuine, heartfelt thanks and a thank you card to be sent at a later date. The gift itself is found a new home if possible, or stored someplace in her own home. She cannot bear to throw a gift away. PRUDENCE - First of all, don’t give her anything. She doesn’t know you like that. Depending on the gifter, Prudence is either 1) not accepting the gift at all, flat out refusal. Maybe politely. Or 2) will accept it silently and trash it the second the gifter is out of sight. 

VIATRIX - Startled to be acknowledged at all, Viatrix is slow to react to a gift. She takes it and mutters something like a gratitude and then beats a quick retreat. The gift is abandoned on someone’s porch or perhaps on a path far from her home. As for the zodiac animals��

ODETTE - Sheep/Ram for her soft-spoken, compassionate, sensitive nature. For her willingness to forgive and eagerness to help. For her indecision and the way she sways under influence.

PRUDENCE - Dog for her loyalty (to a select few) and her clever mind that lends itself to a sharp tongue. Her diligent approach to work and independence. For her short temper and suspicious nature.

VIATRIX - Ox for her hardworking and patient nature, for her stubbornness, for her practical habits and being stuck in her ways.

Spring is upon us! What has your OC been up to all winter?

Amaliah is the type to run herself ragged but she forced herself to actually rest and take care of her mental health for once. No studying anything tedious---actually resting, going on walks with Fen despite the cold, and reading something fun (Folktales and myths have been fun to read for her and varying divination techniques).

Oh and lots of baking! Amaliah discovered she's actually a pretty good at baking bread and sweets beyond just cookies and found that it's actually helped her mental health a bit.

d'alia + combat

VIPER

as an adventurer, wielding twinfangs was alia’s primary skillset. she trained as a viper through other members of her clan as a hunting and protecting technique, as well as by trade for earning a livelihood, passed along with other facets of their turali culture as diaspora residing in mor dhona. it’s the core of who she is and how she moves on her feet or handles a weapon. she’s less of a traditional snake-like combatant, more of a stalking and prowling panther-like huntress.

ARCANIST / SUMMONER

the main reason that alia first went to limsa was to join the arcanists’ guild. with hydaelyn’s call and the echo, she sought magical research to her own ends, but continued down a path of arcanima and egi that would aid her endeavors with the scions against the primals and ascians. she feels as though she needs to ‘earn her keep’ as a scion, so this is how she contributes to the cause more than simply getting aimed at enemies - she even has enchanted ink imbued into runic tattoos on her forearms should she ever be without her grimoire. the connection to the brothers of saint coinach and allagans also feels rooted in home to her, seeing herself as a daughter of mor dhona, and her role in events around the NOAH expedition. she secretly wishes to write a thesis on her private studies and experiences in the field to become an archon one day.

DARK KNIGHT

alia stumbled across fray’s job crystal not long after arriving in ishgard, leading her down the path of the greatsword, dark magicks, and her oath to protect the weak and innocent from the corrupt. it’s the most integral to her identity - she’s the stalwart sword of the scions. but her style is also heavily influenced by her partially self-taught, partially gleaned knowledge of fray’s residual memories in the crystal before training with sid, affected by her strength as a summoner in spawning simulacra and weaving arcanima as another form of crowd control on the battlefield besides the abyssal magic, and combined in her movements with her prowess as a swift and stinging viper, too.

MACHINIST

truthfully, machinistry is more of alia’s hobby than a reliant method of combat, but it’s a fallback for when she’s unable to cast or can’t wield her sword and fangs. she initially seeks out stephanivien to learn about his creation of job crystals for his machinists and grows more invested in the ‘how it works’ of the mechanics, only to finally be convinced to train while lingering for ishgard’s restoration. she often has a holstered pistol or brings a rifle on long journeys and builds/repairs her own aetherometer as well.

Q3. What was their initial impression of the four claimants? How did this change over the course of the story?

Heeeeeeeh! So, spoilers below ok? ok!!!

WUK LAMAT - Incredibly enchanted, very enamored. Odette and Wuk share a open-eyed innocence and hope for the world that I think binds them together immediately. They are fast friends. Odette has never been so bold and outspoken as Wuk presents. I think they grow together; Odette is always growing and always a little stuck given her undead nature. It is hard for the dead to change! Over the course of Dawntrail Odette feels pride for Wuk. That’s her friend!!! That’s her friend learning her worth and learning how to talk to people and learning when to be serious but still eager!! She is Wuk’s greatest cheerleader. The only time they have friction is during Alexandria/Solution 9 arc. For (: Reasons. They grow past this but they do have some firm words with one another. KOANA - Odette loves Koana because Wuk Lamat loves Koana, and two of her dearest friends trust Koana and think his vision for Tural is worth fighting for. They certainly have a language barrier of sorts; Odette and technology do not mix. Koana is a high INT character and Odette is a high WIS character, you know I think they reach a mutual understanding of “You are doing what you can for the people you love and I get that.” ZORAAL JA - Okay so here’s the thing: Odette and Krile are drift compatible, The moment Krile says bad vibes Odette buys in 100%. It doesn’t help that Wuk Lamat has already warned them about Zoraal Ja. He rises to enemy #1 for Odette, who normally struggles with labeling people as such so quickly but… She’s dealing with some things from previous expansions!!

By the end she pities him. That was a whole lot for such little reward. She takes no pleasure in his end and she is gentle when she escorts him to his judgement.

BAKOOL JA JA - Oh brother(s)!!! Odette finds these boys to be soooo exhausting! There they are again!!! CAUSING PROBLEMS ON PURPOSE!!! She thinks he’s a foolish blowhard moron and those are harsh words for Odette. She doesn’t find him as hopeless as Zoraal Ja but… he certainly has very little working in his favor.

The Skydeep Cenote -- generally their entire time in Yak T’el -- breaks Odette’s heart and brings a horrible understanding.

As for the Rite itself: overjoyed. Genuinely, I think she believed that the two should rule together early on. She has always been a quick study of other people and it was simple math to her. Two vows to replace meant two winners. Odette is a nun and paladin, she understands vows and oaths very intimately, you can’t just leave one empty!

Also, frankly, she had fun. Right up until the dome she had so much fun.

If they had to summarize their journey in Tural, what would they say?

“Oh -- Delightful!” The response is quick and breathless as she clasps her hands in front of her, rocking up onto her tip-toes in sheer joy. Her words come like the patter of summer rain, “I learned so much and I have seen even more! New dying techniques in Wachunpelo, as well as new friends among the alpaca and their handlers. Do not tell Rou I said that,” here her grin goes lopsided and dimpled, “He does not like his taller cousins.” She leans forward suddenly, eyes wide and gleaming, “Oh! I learned of the Giants and their burial and mourning rituals -- to stand among the stones of Proof and know they yet live on. I stood there for hours. Miss Prudence had to all but drag me away and I am grateful she did; the field of flowers she led me too was breathtaking.” “And the journey into the Ja Tiika Heartland!” Ah, but the delight fades now replaced with a furrowing of snowy brows and those pale eyes skidding to the side. Pinned to something only Odette’s memory can see, “The forest is stunning and beautiful and magical in every sense of the word. There is so much grief there, buried and desperate to reach the surface… I would like to go back, should the people of Mamook have me. I think we might learn from one another.” Her eyes widened and they jumped back to her companion, expression sheepish, cheeks burning, “Oh but you did say a summary, no? It was not all good, of course, but the company I had eased the burden of any hardships we experienced. This trip shines like a jewel to me, one that requires little polishing by my hand. It is a journey I would take again and again."
