Hello! I saw that you had reccomend Dante Émile's poetry and I absolutely love his work!! What's your favourite poem by them? I personally love 'do angels exist' and 'also wound'.
Oooh, those are really good! My favorite is “sharing a cigarette with Joan of Arc” because it hits me right in the gender-non-conforming feels. That’s the one I could read every day for the rest of my life <3

Mel Pappas and Janice Covington!
I love them. I love them so much. I’m obsessed with Cities of Illumination by @darkbloomiana, and the characters from those stories are my comfort doodle people <3

Thank you! I guess I’ve been writing fiction since I was maybe 10, and I think I started really writing poetry for myself when I was around 14 :))

*to the tune of the X-Files theme song* 🎶 all I draw are Scullys 🎶
The biggest one is my favorite, but the upper left might be the best likeness. The upper right is sorta janky, but we’re keeping it anyway :)

How do you pick a template suited for poetry on canvas? Complete noob here
Obviously, my “theme” is really plain—I use a blank template, 1080 pixels in width- the length depends on how long I expect the poem to be (I usually end up making a new canvas for it anyway if it’s way too long or too short).
This means, when I click “create new” I usually click “custom size.”
I use Times New Roman because I think it looks aesthetically pleasing but not distracting, and it’s the font size is usually between 25 and 30.
I hope this helps!

Hi! I just wanted to say i love your poetry more than words can express and I’m obsessed with your play on literary canon - and mostly i just wanted to thank you because i wrote my first contrapuntal poem ever today because of how inspiring your work is, and also bc of that post where you explained your process for writing them. It’s not a form I’d ever really considered before but I love it so much and I’m so excited to keep challenging myself with them! So thanks, and have a wonderful day :))))j))
Awww, thank you! I’m so glad you took a stab at it- I think it’s really rewarding <3

Should I add a content label for drawings that contain non-sexual nudity? They’re just bodies existing in space, but I still wonder.

As an ex seafarer who used to spend the better part of the year at sea, far away from the people I loved, your Odysseus in the "Penelope and Odysseus" poem really drives me insane. "Your voice is in the sea" and "you're still waiting, I'm still waiting"... I'm rabid, foaming at the mouth, the words are seared in my brain
Awwwww, I'm so glad! I'm so happy it brings you so much feeling <3

how old were you when you began writing poetry, and how often did you write? sorry if this question has been asked before!
I started writing fiction when I was ~10, and I started writing poetry recreationally (rather than for class or something) when I was ~14.
I remember having a poetry phase when I was 14, and another when I was 16 during lockdown. Some of those I still really like, and in others of those I can see how much I've grown :)

I just opened a new insta page for art, poetry and life a few days back. I'm looking forward to growing my page. Any major tips which you want to share? It's @whispers._in._ink on Instagram
Good for you!
My major tip is this: really, truly try not to get too swept up into the analytics of social media. Try not to obsess about which posts get more views or less, and don't let that influence the art you make. Let yourself continue to love it <3

Hey! I really enjoyed reading all of your poetry, but especially the black out poems. I was wondering if you could share anything about how you approached writing those poems? The structuring seems quite difficult!
Thanks!
Thank you! I can say for sure that it makes things way easier if your material is all in present tense, or past tense, etc. That way, when you're blacking out different areas, it's easier to make it make sense :)
