Notes: incredibly short post it's literally just listing what they call you and like to be called, admittedly doing this to fill the queue because even though I'm having a writers block I feel the need to keep posting, reader is gn and in the case of gendered names alternates will be included, use of they for the characters because of copy/paste, assume moxxie and millie are poly with you

They call you: Munchkin feels right, will call you that in a bit of a cooey voice to mess with you. Babe is more commonly used, though

They like being called: hot stuff gets him worked up if the mood is right, but sweet thing will have him giving you a look. Not a bad look, youve.. simply caught him off guard

MOXXIE

They like being called: pretty boy does something to hm- it's an easy way to get him flustered if you want to tease him. Hunk is more of a funny one, he only tolerates it from you and Millie

They call you: honey is his main go to for Millie. He tends to call you dear, to differentiate

MILLIE

They like being called: sweetheart, pumpkin, dumpling- she grew up in the south and she looooooves when you try to make her feel at home by using hames of endearment like that!

They call you: sugar, darling, dear are the main ones she calls you!

LOONA

They like being called: she doesnt exactly know what she likes being called, a lot of it is trial and error but more often than not she seems to accept loony- only lets you or blitz say it though. anyone else who tries gets thrown into orbit.... its not the most romantic but its still sweet

They call you: if youre significantly shorter than her- which you likely are- shes going to call you short stuff. its... partly a term of endearment and an act of teasing. she... doesnt really do petnames, though...

Gonna be honest, while i don't hate stolas i absolutely despise how much helluva boss wants to oush the stolitz ship. Like, making stolas a bit sympathetic alright sure on it's own i can deal with that, and in fact i find it interesting for his character. But the show trying to present it like "oh this is why he would be perfect for blitzo they were meant to be!" Just icks me. I would much rather prefer it if they just had their relationship be downgraded to a friendship at best if they still want to show that they care about eachother or at the very very best let them go their seperate ways permanently.

According to Viv, her owl boi can do no wrong, even though he abused and manipulated tf outta Blitz. It's slimy and gross how she's trying to pass their relationship off as "healing." While basically letting Stolas get away with EVERYTHING, him being "banished" aint shit.

I hate when honest to fuck terrible characters are paired with their "soul mate" [victim], and its played off like their a normal couple. Viv doesnt realize how many people have suffered from abusive relationships, now she's parading 2 abusive dynamics around like its fucking normal.

it's gross and i'm shocked people are still willing to watch her shit, unironically.

its really hard to take any comparisons of stolas to other abusive characters seriously because i genuinely dont think viv comprehends shes written an abuser, the same way other authors can comprehend theyve written abusers. she self projects so heavily onto him and acts like his sass is justified to the point pretty much everyone, even fans and critics, knows that s3 will just end up with him living with blitz and working for IMP (which was foreshadowed just oh so subtly in the helluvababies season 2 premiere,) after losing everything (oh no, the consequences of my actions!) because of the full moon deal HE decided to start. he started out doing something bad, acknowledged it once (didnt even apologize to blitz for the deal btw,) and got go back to his life of luxury after his former sex slave said no to his love. he took advantage of the main character in the very first episode and will still be rewarded with him presented as stolas's knight in shining armor, a family who will unconditionally love him because of fucking course they will even though they know their boss had to fuck him or else they wouldnt have their "meal ticket", and eventually, most probably, his daughters forgiveness after she cut him out of his life for.. taking antidepressants. not for neglecting her, not for not teaching her anything about the book she was solely created for, for 17 years, before letting someone else have it without a single worry of what could happen to it, and certainly not because she cheated on his mom with some "weird red dickhead" i can watch other shows with the understanding (most of the time) that that character probably will receive some kind of growth, karma, acknowledgement, or change of their terrible behavior if theyre intentionally written as toxic. or, if their toxicity is supposed to be the point, for them to go full ham with it. helluva boss is neither to me; its abuse tactics and toxic patterns presented as good, like gaslighting, triangulation, and codependency. and an audience like vivs will digest these ideas subconsciously as good if they have no critical thinking skills of their own, which most of them dont. and all while being too afraid to actually hold abusers accountable in a setting like hell of all places. thats why none of the characters even acknowledge the actually shitty things stolas does and arent allowed to not forgive him- because the creator herself is an abuser who doesnt understand, or doesnt want to understand, that being held accountable is about ALWAYS acknowledging the mistakes you made and STILL trying to be better, even if the people you hurt still hate you. not apologizing once, and then getting pissed someone didnt automatically forgive you, as if your remorse means you're entitled to forgiveness. thats how stolas thinks, because thats how she thinks, and thats terrible. i cant even watch these shows in a "im a messy bitch who lives 4 drama" way as much as i want to because watching an abuser get everything he wants after a season of straight up cloaca sucking is NOT drama. its just incredibly depressing and makes me think about the piles of money that couldve been used to make anything other then this, instead of the creators self insert fanfiction of "no one is allowed to judge my character based on my past selfish actions: the overpriced, overstuffed with expensive celebs while i claim i cant fairly pay my animators i force to work exclusively on my shows the musical!"

I think you're spot on, unfortunately. If it weren't for the fanbase slavishly, cultishly lapping up everything Viv gives them and making it a point to incorporate it into their own lives, it would be a fascinating look at how an abusive person sees themselves. Stolas's justifications really are Viv's justifications, and she'll never see him as an abuser for the same reason she'll never see herself as one.

ok im not sure if anyones pointed this out yet, but this is a helluva boss sticker pack that just recently released. its very possible that it means absolutely nothing........but is it possible that these are hints to upcoming shorts???? (personal rambles and theories under the read more)

these all seem really random. which wouldnt be out of the norm for helluva merch, usually its just an assortment of random characters doing random things. but with the fact that we now know that we'll be getting shorts, and the fact that these all seem like very specific scenarios, i think its plausible that these are hints for things that might be upcoming.

the cherubs being here is especially interesting, because we havent seen anything about them AT ALL since early season 1. we know theyll be making a return (presumibly in mastermind) but then why is the merch featuring these cherubs, and not collin, keenie, and cletus? i think its possible that well be getting a short set in heaven, specifically about these characters/perhaps in preparation to the release of mastermind.

as we know from hells belles, verosika will be going on a tour in pride, which presumably sets up apology tour. but in this art shes not in pride, shes in sloth. this is where we know the rehab center is. is it possible shell end up back in rehab/well get a flashback short about her time in there? potentially even some backstory with her and barbie??

the next one features bee, tex, and loona. i THINK it was confirmed somewhere (although i dont have a source) that well be seeing bee again this year, although i just assumed that would be in the finale. its possible that she, tex, and loona will be hanging out again in a short, which would be nice! ive also seen some theories/speculation that this specefic piece of merch might allude to the ship ""honeybunch"" (or bee x tex x loona) potentially becoming canon.

stolas and octavia sort of has me stumped. based on her lines in the trailer, it seems like octavia is still harboring some resentment, and this picture seems like a really sweet glimpse into their domestic life. honestly this feels so out of character for me that it almost made me throw my whole idea about these being potential shorts out the window. im sure they still do have nice moments like this, but i struggle to picture them happening since the only interactions weve seen them have have been negative. maybe therell be a short trying to rectify this? or this could be a pre-blitz flashback.

im partially hoping these are shorts JUST for this next one. i want striker to have a short so so bad. i have literally NO idea what it would be, though. i just wanna see more of him and bombproof :( zooming in on the picture, i did notice that 1) theyre back in wrath. 2) striker is polishing a (not-blessed) knife. and 3), he doesnt seem to be too injured from the escape in oops. although, interestingly, we only get to see the left side of his face. im pointing this out, because in oops, when the explosion occurs, the shot of the fire zooming towards strikers face is a direct parallel to the shot of the fire zooming towards BLITZ face. i think it would be REALLY sick if they ended up with matching burn scars.

finally, moxxie and his mom. this is the piece that gave me this idea in the first place, just because it seems so incredibly random. i cannot even imagine a place where she would come back, if not a flashback short that delves deeper into his childhood. where else would she fit in this whole season? its possible that he has another flashback in the show, but the trailer seems REALLY focused on stolas and (especially) blitzs past, so it feels slightly unlikely. it makes sense that theyd get a whole short dedicated just for them.

idk, maybe im WAYYYY off. i just think it would be nice to get some time away from the main cast in their current states for a while and these seem like some of the best ways to do it

Silly Helluva Boss Rant/Critic

NOTE: I Am NOT A Professional Writer, This Is My OPINION On Season 2. If Opinions Trigger You, Dont Read.

i have so much to say about this stupid show oh my gosh where do i even start?

honestly i just miss the older episodes of the show, like season 1, when it was just silly demon comedy and viv wasnt trying to add depth to the characters. even though originally i liked the idea of more depth in the show when episode 7 happened. but clearly viv doesnt know how to write characters. blitz(obviously cuz hes the main character) and verosika(somehow) are the only half decent characters imo. but thats not saying much

i love the shorts though. they feel like mini season 1 episodes.

in episode 7, it introduced a conflict between stolas and blitz. but then it put it off the ENTIRE SEASON til full moon which was 8 episodes. and in those 8 episodes, blitz and stolas just acted like nothing happened?? no mention of it at all?

and full moon was hyped up so much for what? there was like 5 minutes of actual stolitz. the entire episode was basically about the cherubs, agents, and blitz buying sex toys.

and all the conflict is so fucking forced. all these fucks need to do is communicate omg. like in full moon , if stolas let blitz talk to him at the end, we'd be done. blitz clearly has a hard time opening up and being vunerable but he was about to actually talk with stolas BUT NO stolas teleports him outside so they can stretch it on a couple more episodes! and then in sinsmas when stolas and octavia are fighting if octavia just listened, it would be over. but of course, we still need more drama even though the show was better WITHOUT it.

mastermind wasnt all that good tbh. i feel like it needed more time. and the fake out deaths bored me. viv already confirmed that the end of season 1 would have canon stolitz so obviously they werent gonna kill blitz or stolas. but andrealphus' plan made no sense. like, it completely depended on stolas watching tv at the exact time the broadcast happened and there being no live delay. comedy was actually pretty good though. and the stolas poor arc seems fun.

and the only slightly good that came out of the stolitz mess was ghostfuckers(aka the millie episode) cuz blitz was sad abt stolas. but im very glad we got that because i started watching around like episode 2 release(which means i waited 4 YEARS) and i always really liked millie(i love strong women) and im actually quite happy with it even if blitz was still technically in the spotlight more. but also shes pregnant. wow. but i feel like the show needed something like that. because i doubt they can stretch the octavia and stolas shit a whole seasons length. so their gonna need something else to bring drama because they love drama.

and unhappy campers. i fucking hate unhappy campers. it baited everyone into thinking it was the millie episode. but she says like two lines that mean something for her character. and moxie felt so ooc too. it was so unfunny. i watched it straight faced. season 2 hasnt been focused on comedy as much as before and its obvious. but usually i at least let out a small chuckle once or twice. BUT NOT THIS EPISODE. and the barbie wire stuff felt shoved in. it literally came out of nowhere. it was just such a shit episode entirely.

fucking stolas used to be my favorite character but all the self-victimizing shit was so annoying especially in apology tour. he said blitz made him uncomfortable but what about all the times he made others umcomfortable? like in harvest moon, when he called blitz blitzy in front of everyone and blitz is clearly embarrassed?? and when he started talking about blitz' dick IN FRONT OF HIS DAUGHTER??? stop acting like a victim, stolas. you arent. i think maybe he got a little better in sinsmas but barely. and this isnt story related, but stolas' voice actor has such a good vocal range?? like the apology tour song blew me away. i love his voice so much.

oh my god, dont get me started on how viv treats octavia.. i used to love octavia and still kinda do... but now theres 3 episodes of just her being mad at her father and its getting REALLY repetitive. and yea, she does have the right to be mad at him because stolas sacrificed himself for blitz, thinking he would die(even if he didnt) which probably hurt her a lot. but i was hoping sinsmas would show us more of her as a person, like her hobbies(ig they showed her singing but so does everyone else in the show soo), her interests, literally anything about her but her being mad at stolas. i was hoping we'd finally see how her and stella feel about eachother. but no. they talked once but could you even call it talking cuz all stella did was take her phone while laughing and octavia didnt say anything. she was clearly annoyed with her mother but that doesnt really give us a dynamic. and also in stolas and vias argument at the end of sinsmas, it felt like she was purposely taking everything he said the wrong way just for more drama. especially about the happy pills thing. stolas said she was the only good thing in his life so she then says shes an obligation. LIKE NO, hes saying he cares. which yea, he might kinda be bad dad but he does try his hardest and she could at least acknowledge that but still be disappointed.

and stella. i was hoping they would end up doing something with her like giving her a back story that made her so bitchy or something. but then the first ep of season 2 turns her into just a villian. she was just born evil apparently because that totally happens. shes literally nothing but a plot device. and im not against plot devices if they actually do their job. like isha from arcane for example, shes a plot device for jinx development but she actually does her job. shes interesting enough and gives you all you need from a plot device. but stella literally just leaves you wanting more. shes barely a character. we know nothing about her. all she does is start more meaningless drama. shes not even likable as a villain.

now, verosika(AKA best character). shes actually kind of well written? i wish we had more of her this season but also dont because they probably wouldve ruined her too. she only had a 5 minute convo with blitz in apology tour but it made me love her so much more. and her trying to help others after blitz hurt them like he hurt her is so sweet. and then her giving blitz cake, acknowedgling he hates himself just as much as everyone else at this party. i love her sm bro. unrelated but her design is so nice. and she looks so good in all her outfits. loved her fit in the 1 second of screentime she had in mastermind. and i immdediatley recognized her voice in the chrsitmas party song and got so happy

also on the official yt video for the verosika song, the second comment said "I guess Blitzo finally enjoys her music now after, I can imagine, years of it tormenting him with guilt and regret" and i would like to agree with that statement.

i think thats all my criticism. so uh.. bye

I know it’s just a four minute short Stolas isn’t even in, but I think the now running theme of Blitz being “bad” at sex, at least oral, being somewhat confirmed, really ties into what I find most appealing about them. We see in The Circus that Stolas is the one who laughs at his jokes, it’s a running thing, Blitz being unfunny, we see it in flashbacks, in comments made by other characters, by the audience in Seeing Stars, with Stolas always being the notable exception. And Stolas is genuine in his laughter, he truly finds Blitz funny when at large he apparently isn’t. Blitz still presents himself as someone who is though, he sticks to the clown schtick, and despite the failures he keeps trying with increasing desperation, just like he kept trying with the balloon horse and the crystal. This contrast of everyone’s reaction vs Stolas’s is so important that one of the ways Blitz realizes Stolas is truly angry and means what he says is that Stolas didn’t laugh.

The bad at sex gag reads the exact same way to me. We have this idea that because of how Blitz presents himself, that he is considered generally attractive, that he is an asshole but he can throw down in the bedroom so people still give it a shot. But we have several comments that imply his dick game was not what was bringing them in. Verosika is the presenter of this information initially so it could just be from her perspective or even just spite based, at least that was true until we account for the new short which seems to confirm her statements. It is the same contrast of Blitz presenting himself one way, and even expressing that he can try harder if the other party is displeased, and us learning that the world at large is not into it but Stolas is. He like sings about it, he was excited about it, and that’s not down to experience or him not knowing better, he genuinely was into it. He derived pleasure from it and found it attractive. Even in Full Moon he blushes and hesitates when Blitz pushes his legs apart. Sex and humor are bimodal in the way that if you aren’t enjoying it you might give it a go a few more times before deciding it isn’t for you, or that you like some aspects and not others. Stolas is very clearly on the Blitz side for both of these. And he is an exception, if Verosika is the narrative proxy for the feelings of the Anti Blitz party attendees as a whole, which I think she is - stabbing his dick and saying no one wants it anyway - that this is a general opinion held by many, just like Blitz being not funny, that Stolas stands in contrast to.

The other thread tying them together in the narrative is Blitz’s performance anxiety itself. In the past for the humor we see him either failing completely in black and white flashbacks with no relief because Stolas wasn’t there, or we see him failing initially and Stolas reassuring him and giving him his confidence back by laughing. Now that we have additional information that Blitz is, on the whole, maybe not everyone’s cup of sexual tea It could be argued that Stolas’s over the top simping and outward showing of lust is the same as him laughing. Blitz certainly derived confidence from sexual performance when it came to Stolas, he had a lot of bravado about it and he put in a fuck ton of effort to the point where he thinks it’s all he has of value to him. Stolas expresses his appreciation loudly and outwardly. Blitz doesn’t trust it though, just as he doesn’t trust that Stolas is laughing at his jokes for real. Slowly over time Stolas stopped making those comments, and gave him outs on their arrangement. And then he stops laughing too. Blitz had no issue with the crystal when he was performing for Stolas but in Antarctica he freezes up and implies it’s been an ongoing off screen struggle. Just like he seemed to have no problem with performing oral when it was for Stolas. Millie tries to encourage him but Moxxie has to physically step in and show him. Blitz doesnt fix it himself. His confidence is still where it was when he was failing, they were just able to get home because Moxxie stepped in. Blitz has some new information but he didn’t suddenly develop confidence, not like he has in the past when Stolas was there to laugh or flirt. This really highlighted the consequences of what happens when Blitz doesn’t have Stolas to help his confidence both with sex and humor.

In summary I just love the idea that they are compatible on both of these levels in opposition to what seems to be mainstream opinion. That Blitz, the circus clown, has a captive and supportive audience in Stolas in all areas, his humor, his abilities, his business, and his sexual performance.

Re: the latest helluva boss short, i REFUSE to believe that blitzø is bad in the sack. i just refuse that notion all together. i do believe he has zero technique whatsoever though, because he relies heavily on confidence and on his excellent capability of reading people.

See, thats all you need to be a sex god imo. If youre skilled enough at reading peoples reactions properly, you dont need technique because you dont need generalisation, you figure out what that SPECIFIC person likes. and that makes you invaluable to their eyes. i do believe two things, one is that blitzø enjoys cracking open that mistery and exploring what makes someone tick, two is that he is extremely observant and good at reading people/situations (exes and oohs is a great example of this, both in how he clocked the drugged drink right away and how he slept with chaz to get info), aside from also being quite versatile, handy and extremely adaptable.

Third thing i believe is that blitz is also DEFINITELY all over the place, so sometimes he may also be bad at sex because he can also be selfish and self centered, so he may not care enough to pay attention to the other person at times. But he has the capability to be great in bed is all im saying.

So what i believe happens in the short is, first of all as other people have said he has some complicated feelings about this crystal. Because of course. So maybe he doesnt even feel like pleasuring a stupid crystal when he should be pleasuring stolas, thank you very much!! And also the crystal is an inanimate thing, he cant really gauge a reaction from it so he would have to rely solely on technique, which he lacks 😋

pt 2 of mastermind theories

srry this took so long to come out i got distracted and forgot

Spoilers ahead and this post it very long

Fizz and ver bc their section is gonna be short. Fizz's face when he saw blitz about to die and texting ozz and begging him to do something is just so different from what his reaction would be a few episodes ago. He wouldnt have cared and mightve been even happy that this was happening to blitz. Im just glad they fixed things. Ozz too, he actively tried to help and so did Queen Bee. Queen bee saw how much blitz and loona care and love each other. And she wanted to help. Ozz tried to help bc blitz helped fizz when he couldnt. And then ver. Even though blitz fucked her over she was still worried for him. The split second we see her face change is just perfect. Like she still feels bad and knows what he's gone through before. So its nice to see that they've repaired things at least to this point even if things will never be fully repaired.

Moxxie, millie, and loona. first i would love seeing a short where millie's family was so worried for millie and at least a little bit for moxxie. Cause blitz's execution was broadcasted everywhere so they would've seen it and been worried. I could even see them going to whatever ring IMP is on just to check on them. And moxxie would totally cry bc he doesnt have any blood related family and so in laws are the closest he has other than IMP. Loona grabbing the photo from the drawer *CRY* and her calling blitz her dad so much this episode too *CRY*. like, they were all so terribly worried for blitz when he came out of those doors. *CRY* CRYING ALL AROUND.

Now the deadly sins the last part of these posts on episode 11 for now probably. Cartoon Universe already covered them so go check out cartoon Universe. Also if you're a fan of my arcane posts they covered arcane as well. I kinda just gonna cover satan and mammon bc i cover bee and ozz it the previous section. The sins of sloth and envy are also cool but i dont have anything to say on them. Cartoon Universe did go a little deeper on them than just what we know so far. Mammon, im not surprised that mammon was against helping blitz. First bc ozz and bee were already helping him and mammon is very much against ozz bc of fizz. Bee is also against him and allies with ozz so he def against her. Then there's the fact he sees imps as profitable. If they have talent convince them to join him and work for him. If they dont have talent ads galore so that they buy his merch he makes. So mammon sucks even more, fun. Then Satan. Pretty sure that moxxie, millie and loona are only alive because he thinks moxxie and millie can change and that then they'll discipline loona. Why would they discipline loona in his eyes? Based on the precautions they take with her and how we see hellhounds treated in other episodes - hellhounds are below imps and so his train of thought is likely like 'oh, she's a hellhound so she's owned by the imps. The imps are my creations so they'll listen to what i say and if she doesn't they'll discipline her cause she's below them.' Overall thought on satan - he sucks and is just gonna cause trouble.

Lil bit of a pause on writing for a hot sec, father is back in hospital for what seems like it's gonna be another long term situation (he fell, bumped his head and woke up the next day confused, doesnt know what time it is, what year it is, cant speak properly, he thought my mother was his daughter from a previous marriage, and then claimed to be married to Hope, the dog. it's not good.) the pause wont be long, at all, i'm halfway through the next Nest update and wanna get another part of I Wish up before Christmas, but i have to sort this damn house out.

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom

this requires me to narrow down my favs, which is so much more difficult than i ever could have expected. yin if i don’t answer the ask quickly this was why. catelyn tully would never top because ned lays pipe and she’s a freak like that. saw a ss of a reddit post that was like ‘my wife likes to get blitzed and then come home and have me fuck her brains out’ and thats her. brienne is never bottoming and jaime is never topping because jaime has some kind of reversed gender thing going on that makes him want to be a girl but not to another man. and brienne lives to serve. she literally is a sword. and thats a penis metaphor as we all know. margaery is never topping men because despite being the first ally in westeros she thinks thats weird. these are compelling arguments to me! daenerys stormborn is NEVER. New ep of Helluva Boss just came out and i actually want to talk about that one. I didnt even bother with the third one cause somehow I didnt have any strong feelings about it. Anyway, lets start.

First of course pacing. I was really suprised how fast we got into the main action, it starts literally a minute into the episode. We didnt even get a proper introduction of Andrealphus ( or however his name is written, i will just call him Andre) and its his first offical apperance. Its quite insane honestly. I really think it might have been better to do this in some other episode where plot would be focused on the divorce. It feels like they didnt know how to start this whole assasination businnes.

Also for me he seems... really boring? There isnt anything about him that we havent seen before. I dislike how Stella was portrayed too. She may have gotten a bit dumber than at the beginning, i mean she cares so much about killing Stolas that she isnt even thinking logically. Its a little weird when you consider how loveless their marriage was, it doesnt look like she has strong enough reason to hate him this much.

Another thing, her relationship with Andre seems as normal as it can be in hell. I hoped for some emotional manipulation or other toxic behaviour that may explain why Stella is such a bitch. But hell no, there was nothing super weird about them though it may be because there were shown for like 2-3 minutes in the whole ep. On one hand i am glad he is not ( at least yet) another villain, but still he felt important enough to get a proper introduction.

What also bothered me about pacing was the structure of plot A and B. Especially in the fight scene where they are paralleled. Its not a bad thing per se but it dissolves the tension. It also felt like there was no need for plot B except for keeping Blitz occupied and unable to rescue Stolas.

Now lets talk about characters. First Moxxie, as much as i am glad that he became a badass i cannot help but feel like it should have happened in 3rd ep. Him fighting his dad would be so much more powerful than dealing with three random guys on gus station and fighting Striker with Millie. This change would feel more natural. I am not saying he is weak, but his skills were mostly with guns, not physical violence. But in this ep he suddenly is very capable of that, he is also less anxious and more reliable (which is a good thing, thats the development from ep 6). Despite all that i was still suprised.

Both Blitz and Stolas feel pretty much in character, so i wont talk much about them. I just wanna say that i liked them. I am kinda sorry that i wont sing praises, even though there was some good stuff but there is still much to cover.

So lets talk about Striker. Oh boy, not gonna lie watching him sometimes felt like fever dream. I dont know if its so bad that its hilarious or just hilarious, i really cant say. First his sudden apperance in the middle of a restaurant with a whole crowd of witnesses, than his theme song. THEME SONG. I am crying, its just so ridiculous. Its a pretty cool joke but also so surreal. Like up until now it feels like writers tried to find a reason for adding songs. Be it jingles, intros or full stage performences the songs were always a part of an actual action. However here its more of a montage, and it can be barely counted as sth else thanks to a few lines in a dialogue. As i said, not sure if its genius or just bad. Then we have all the jokes about Strikers ego, its not out of character, but it also feels like he stopped being anything more. At first he was a genuine threat and someone who Blitz could have chose to be. Here he still tries to be, but cant because of all the jokes. The big dick statue went too far for me. Its also becoming too repetitive. However i really liked when he started choking Moxxie, he looked really wild with all the drolling. It made him look feral, which is cool. The harder joke also caught me of guard. Last thing about Striker, he is well animated. It may seem obvious but i feel like its really not, especially not in season two.

I dont have much to say about Millie, Loona and Stella. Really, my only thought is that Stella looks kinda weird in this ep. Her head feels to big, especially when Andre is next her. Fortunetly Loona and Millie look alright.

Short note about worldbuilding, it gets more and more messed up. What at first looked like nice little clues for creating a bigger picture now is more like random stuff mixed together so they can pretend to be whole. Hell looks more and more like a structured society with jails, hospitals, offices and so on and yet it makes it hard to ignore how absolutely insane this idea is. At first hell looked like a total lack of rules, then we got some info that IMP using Grimouir is illegal, then human disguises, lawsuits and even jail which overall makes an impression that there is some law. But what is this, how does it work? No idea whatsoever. Then we have hierarchy with imps being at the very bottom of it. Now it seems like they arent really so different if they can afford places like Asmodeus or restaurants Stella is willing to go to. Blitzo having a bussines was a big deal but nothing really came out of it. Also whats with their sizes?? They can be as big as Loona or small enough to fit in a bag. It gets more and more confusing. I wont even talk about Moxxies dad, an imp being a literal mob boss ( mafia exists in hell???). Its all a right mess.

Another thing thats is a mess is a quality of sound design and sometimes animation. I felt so disconected from fight scene in this episode because music didnt fit at all. The tension that should have been there went and never came back. Though the animation was gorgeous. However its not so pretty in many other moments where anatomy of characters becomes a mere suggestion. Sometimes the problem is in proportions, sometimes in perspective but also how some scenes are connected and how the mood isnt appropriate for the overall action.

But since we are getting to the end of this post, let me tell about some good things. And by that i mean the end scene. Its really good, it made me feel what i have felt while watching first season. It was emotional but in a quiet, honest way. We got some small gesture that was meaningfull in a context. We also got some explanation about what happened after Ozzie (a little too late, but better than never) and in such a way that i can appreciate. I like small clues, that u have to focus on to fully understand whats happening. Its one of the things that got me into Helluva, it was fascinating to use small things to create bigger pictures. I loved that, and i wish there was more of that in this season.

To finish, i think the biggest problem of this season is that it doesnt know how to build up on what was shown before. It got lost with all the characters, dramas and possible plots and in the end lost the core idea that was at the beggining - IMP bussines. Now it rushes into different plot points and mucks up most of them because of that. It also doesnt give us anything new? First ep was a sensation with mixed response, but despite other ones having important moments it never got up anywhere near the excitment that started with 5 ep of season 1. I really miss that feeling but i am losing hope that Helluva will return to its former quality and charm.

im going to make hh/hb rewrites eventually but i feel like, with everything ive been seeing, the “its in hell” excuse has gotten worse n worse, n the storytelling is getting into weird bioessentialism territory

sometimes the characters are bad ppl but woobified by fans (and the show itself) because they want you to feel ok about the bad things they do. sometimes the characters are bad ppl but youre not allowed to woobify them bcuz the show is like “no not THIS one!” and it brings up a question ab how hh/hb portray morality and being predisposed to behaviors

the hellborn are often very bad ppl, but they dont have to be just because they were born in hell, right? they can be redeemed, as much as the establishments that keep heaven and hell running as they are say otherwise, right?

asmodeus is the “embodiment” of lust, he encourages cheating and discourages romance in his scene at the club, but he has been established as putting on a persona. hes actually good ab consent and has strong romantic feelings for a member of the lower class! bee encourages gluttony as the “embodiment” of it, but also shes chill too, she doesnt like blitz overdrinking and “ruining the vibe.”

mammon though? hes just bad! hes greed and thats all he is! (also misogynistic but even the “bad but you should feel sorry for them” characters are too, so whats the point of making a distinction between them.)

the show(s) should be making a statement ab the ppl born in (or directly connected to hell) not actually being the embodiment of these things, moreso just having influence over them, and they are not predisposed to behaving awfully. show how mammon has the capacity to be good but chooses to act as his sin! why is he (and mind you hes one of the only fat characters so far) hate-worthy but the other sins r sooo cool actually. like whats the logic ?? some of the Sins arent inherently evil ppl, but some of them are ???

Can i vent a little here about the new Helluva ep? It seems to be well-received overall, but some people are being really harsh on it imo

I agree that the episode had pacing issues, but i dont think theyre worse than Seeing Stars. There was still a little room to breathe here

I also agree that the a and b plots felt kinda disconnected, though if nothing else i still think the b-plot gave Blitz a good justification for not coming to save Stolas.

Ive seen criticism of Striker as ooc, which i dont get at all. You could tell from his first episode that he was a petty, self-aggrandizing jerk who gets irritated when people get the better of him. Western Energy didnt let him have as much dignity as Harvest Moon, because it showed of those traits more. It seems to me to be what people actually dislike, Helluva wouldnt let Striker stay ‘cool’.

But HB doesnt treat any character like that, no one is exempt from being made fun of. Its actually an aspect i appreciate about the show. i think it ironically enough makes the characters more likable

I dont think this ep is perfect, but there’s still a lot to like, im kinda baffled why its getting ripped into this way 😕

I mean, everyone's allowed to have an opinion. Idk if the ep deserves anything incredibly harsh, however. I do agree with a lot of the grievances surrounding the ep, especially with the B-plot and the pacing. I feel like we didn't really need to follow inside the hospital, but it was a little neat seeing the baphomets and the style of Sloth.

Overall, I don't really see what the benefit would be to focus on Striker. It would just be torture porn of Stolas and maybe Stolas saying the same little quips. It'd just be repetitive.

I mean, Western Energy def doesn't hold a candle to Harvest Moon. But, at the end of the day, Helluva Boss is a dark comedy first and foremost. Even dramas have moments of levity in them. I guess it's safe to say that this ep is going to be a mixed bag for everyone. The harshness is a bit much tho.

I just wanted Striker and I got my wish. Plus, I tend to ready myself for something to be slightly disappointing, even if it's something I'm hyped for. Felt the same with stuff like Spiderverse or Puss in Boots and it's probably not gonna change. In my eyes, you can't be disappointed if you're expecting disappointment. Yes, it's an incredibly low bar, but it helps judge something as is rather what it could be.

am i just slow or is blitz's character progression unnatural during the end? stolas gives him that speech that he doesnt want to coerce him anymore, then he doesnt even respond, its followed with a stolas word salad and he says all Blitz can think about is sex, like. what? Blitz lashing out was justified after this but its worded so that he is mad about stolas being "romantic"? if anything that should have been immediately followed up by Blitz bringing up what happened during Ozzie’s. Or his advances towards him when he had his anxiety attack in Seeing Stars. confront Stolas about making shit up and projecting! i hated this so much even though i adored the expressions Blitz make and all this work on animating him (his boot stomp after Lets go!), i just want someone to edit the ending so that after Stolas says “I didn’t realize you’d think so low of me!” Blitz yells at him to shut up and then leaves

If anyone makes that edit, please send it to me so that I may look at it whenever I'm having an off day.

Thoughts on our episode oops:

This ones a lot stronger than i was expecting which is good!

- The beginning of the episode isnt quite my normal favorite beginning to an episode but it works for telling us fizz and ozzie are a couple and their actual dynamic which id say we needed screen time given to because its kind of an act (even though i liked the prior established idea fizz and Ozzies relationship might be that they find love gross despite being in a relationship bc its more about whats agreed upon to constitute it)

- Again i think itd really sell a theme to the episode if Ozzie didnt want to go with Fizz to get milk out of concern theyd be mistaken as a couple causing a part of the reason fizz gets into this mess

- i think Striker shouldve been kidnapped by Crimson who running out of men and money would rather kidnap and force an assassin to work for him or be killed than risk cutting his numbers down further after what Millie did. Especially bc arguably prior episodes have implied Striker is better at one on one fights and is easily overpowered when out numbered.

- Im not super on board with Striker pulling Fizz and Blitzo off the street so easily when if Fizz and Ozzie were a poorly kept secret whys it in the paper as proven and not a "shits hit the fan" moment? And hows he weaker than Bee when he's very clearly muscular? Maybe if Stiker was trying to grab Fizz's dogs especially the albino one recognizing them as Ozzies and therefore something hed pay a pretty penny for. Only to by chance pull up Blitzo and Fizz whos mistaken as Ozzies dog walker.

-okay so in backstory the fire is green. But then shouldnt he be bothered by said green fire in Loolooland and why didn't we see it in his trip?

-tbh shouldn't he possibly bc scared of horses too bc of this?

-"but you have no idea what i lost in that fire" blitzo says this like it was the start of his villain arc but personally? It just feel really insensitive to Fizz and unaware of the fact his pettiness to push someone caused this

-its really too bad barbie was scrapped from the scene bc if Blitzo walked off because he heard her scream and basically went to find hed only to catch as the tent burned down it would better justify him walking away from fizz than "trying to get help" which doesnt. Read as such.

-honestly too the fact blitz is implied to have killed people makes me think it wouldve worked better if perhaps fizz ans his mom were outliers but largely the issue was he put every one out of a job. Jobs that likely dont have very transferable skills. As they may have had the money to keep the circus going but never enough to replace everything lost in a moment like that. (Also a throw back to how hell doesnt have insurance)

-fizzs song is pretty good! With the music though i semi wish Look At This couldve been a song where Fizz is actually trying to fool Crim and his group into thinking Ozzie and Stolas have shown up especially because Fizz may not know much about fighting but he absolutely might know how to set a scene and inprovise. Maybe a bit akin to Make A Lot of Noise from the Toy Story musical.

-again wish Ozzies now offered to go with Fizz any time he leaves the house and Fizz (who went from saying he doesnt know how to fight to throwing a punch) says he can handle himself but hed love for them to go out together as a couple. Ozzie saying he doesnt need to leave the house and he'll have body guard everywhere with him reads too infatilizing and assuming Fizz as incompetent for my taste

- Salem did the concept art for this episode and the fact viv didnt credit them is really disappointing. If i can i would like to ask ppl be aware of that and maybe check those out bc they have every right to be proud of the work they did
