My problem with this just comes down to a “fool me once” situation.

Magic the Gathering is a hobby I enjoy, not a rules set I enjoy. The more that it becomes fornite, a grab bag of various IP with no true identity, you’re betting that I will be here for that because of the rules.

A game is more than rules, more than the sum of its parts. It’s an aesthetic, it’s an experience, and it’s a community. It’s one thing for there to be a few episodes of a TV show featuring a cross over, but once you start having half of your episodes be “cross overs”…

I mean… what the heck is this anymore? Have you no faith in the product? It’s short term gain for a long term loss.

My issue with UB's expansion being the will of the players is where does it stop. My line to where I was able to ignore UB for the most part was Magic having 4 standard sets of its own IP each year. 4 sets of new Magic Magic cards. I honestly thought you'd never break that line either because of how core that has been for the last 2 decades. That the Magic IP would have the majority of new Magic products but it doesn't anymore. Why shouldn't it keep falling and in a few years be 4 UB to 2 Magic.

In-multiverse Magic still has the majority of releases. There are seven tentpole releases in 2025, and four of them are in-multiverse sets (one being a reprint set). And that doesn’t include Foundations, basically the new core set, which is also in-multiverse.

Be strong and courageous, the Lord Jesus is with you. He will fight your battle. And when He does that, the victory is undoubtedly yours.
