wilson saying “I need to do this. for you.” is fucking insane actually. in the same episode where house is deciding whether or not he should commit suicide as a result of wilson’s dying. They are each other’s lines between life and death. humans have a biological instinct to preserve their survival at all costs; house has an addiction that governs his life. but they were willing to forgo all of it for one another, because they couldn’t fathom it being any other way. IM SICK
#I know it’s fictional but there is nothing more meaningful and real than the desire to be loved by someone else more than anything#and it’s killing me#I was out by lac leman one day when I was seven when my mom told me that swans fly as high as possible#and fall to their deaths when their partner dies#and whether or not that’s true. it fundamentally changed my view of love tbh#my grandmother survived breast cancer for 10 years as well as covid#but died ONE DAY after losing the person she cared about most in this world#love transcends nature#and this show is a beautiful example of that#house md#greg house#gregory house#hatecrimes md#hilson#james wilson#house/wilson

kinda sucks as an immunocompromised & high risk person that i have to deal with people's negative reactions to me masking & refusing to go into crowded places unmasked
because now it's gauche to care about covid
i know humans are social animals but we also have enough cognition to understand when our emotional impulses are at odds with our knowledge of a situation!!
so why after all these studies and statistics is it considered embarrassing to try not to get or spread the single most disabling disease of our time??? a disease that has killed so many people, directly and indirectly??
#covid#also like even if covid really was over i'd never stop masking in public#because i used to have one infection or another 8-10 months out of the year and i am NEVER going back to that ever#esp cuz every infection of any kind has the risk of making me sicker bc of how my disabled body works#covid19#thatdiabolicalfeminist

On average, how much time does it take them to film the first half of a season? One/two months more or less?
No, it's a lot more than a couple months...
Normally they start filming in July and they end some time in December and take a small break for the holidays before picking back up some time in January. In the past, it normally takes most (if not all) of the months (July-December) to film the first half of the season.
CORRECTION: It's July-November that they're filming the first half of the season. I'm re-reading this and realized I misspoke. December they get started on the second half
#mostly this is based off season 5 & 6#but they did 10 episodes in 4-5 months for season s7#season 4 was filming from sept - may for 14 episodes but covid regulations made filming take significantly more time#s3 wrapped a lot earlier than other seasons#but oliver had talked about them filming seven days a week during that season (at least at the beginning)#anon#answered

thomas harley for nhl network — EDM vs DAL; game 1 — 05.23.24
[i want to ask you just one last question about — just, the makeup of this team, ‘cause i always joke that dallas has two cores. there’s, like, the veteran core group, and then there’s the young guys. when you guys are out at team events, like … does it stay that way? who mixes with who? like, what is the dynamic when you guys are just spending time together? like, does the youth stick together i guess is what i’m asking.] yeah, us young guys stick together. um — me and johnny still room together on the road. we, uh, we gotta keep that going. but, yeah, the old guys kinda stick to the old guys, the young guys stick with the young guys, so it’s — it’s pretty much what you’d think it’d be. [last one for you — just, miro heiskanen, and what he is like to play with, what he’s like on the bench. is he a vocal guy? ‘cause he seems quiet, to the outsiders; is that actually how he is all the time?] yeah, he’s pretty quiet. um … i like to get him going a little bit. [how do you do that?] just — excuse the language, but give him some shit. um, yeah. just kinda poke him, a little bit. um — kinda be a younger brother to him.
#hockey#stars#dallas stars#thomas harley#this is such a rich text ......... thank you harls#like oh my GOD knowing him & wyatt are road roomies is everything. truuuuuuuly explains so much#the last crop of young guys came up in covid when even guys on their elcs got their own rooms so i FORGOT we could have this vibe#him saying we gotta keep that (harlswyatt roomies) going!!!#also saying he likes to get miro going by giving him shit 🥰#his love language is negging. and wyatt and miro both let him express that part of himself ........ amazing lore drop. 10/10#i am doing him a Favor by only giffing his side profile btw#babygirl why was only one side of your hair frizzy & laying all weird. invest in pomade babe. or a brush idk but something please#z:edit#5355

The danger is clear and present: COVID isn’t merely a respiratory illness; it’s a multi-dimensional threat impacting brain function, attacking almost all of the body’s organs, producing elevated risks of all kinds, and weakening our ability to fight off other diseases. Reinfections are thought to produce cumulative risks, and Long COVID is on the rise. Unfortunately, Long COVID is now being considered a long-term chronic illness — something many people will never fully recover from. Dr. Phillip Alvelda, a former program manager in DARPA’s Biological Technologies Office that pioneered the synthetic biology industry and the development of mRNA vaccine technology, is the founder of Medio Labs, a COVID diagnostic testing company. He has stepped forward as a strong critic of government COVID management, accusing health agencies of inadequacy and even deception. Alvelda is pushing for accountability and immediate action to tackle Long COVID and fend off future pandemics with stronger public health strategies. Contrary to public belief, he warns, COVID is not like the flu. New variants evolve much faster, making annual shots inadequate. He believes that if things continue as they are, with new COVID variants emerging and reinfections happening rapidly, the majority of Americans may eventually grapple with some form of Long COVID. Let’s repeat that: At the current rate of infection, most Americans may get Long COVID.
[...]
LP: A recent JAMA study found that US adults with Long COVID are more prone to depression and anxiety – and they’re struggling to afford treatment. Given the virus’s impact on the brain, I guess the link to mental health issues isn’t surprising. PA: There are all kinds of weird things going on that could be related to COVID’s cognitive effects. I’ll give you an example. We’ve noticed since the start of the pandemic that accidents are increasing. A report published by TRIP, a transportation research nonprofit, found that traffic fatalities in California increased by 22% from 2019 to 2022. They also found the likelihood of being killed in a traffic crash increased by 28% over that period. Other data, like studies from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, came to similar conclusions, reporting that traffic fatalities hit a 16-year high across the country in 2021. The TRIP report also looked at traffic fatalities on a national level and found that traffic fatalities increased by 19%. LP: What role might COVID play? PA: Research points to the various ways COVID attacks the brain. Some people who have been infected have suffered motor control damage, and that could be a factor in car crashes. News is beginning to emerge about other ways COVID impacts driving. For example, in Ireland, a driver’s COVID-related brain fog was linked to a crash that killed an elderly couple. Damage from COVID could be affecting people who are flying our planes, too. We’ve had pilots that had to quit because they couldn’t control the airplanes anymore. We know that medical events among U.S. military pilots were shown to have risen over 1,700% from 2019 to 2022, which the Pentagon attributes to the virus.
[...]
LP: You’ve criticized the track record of the CDC and the WHO – particularly their stubborn denial that COVID is airborne. PA: They knew the dangers of airborne transmission but refused to admit it for too long. They were warned repeatedly by scientists who studied aerosols. They instituted protections for themselves and for their kids against airborne transmission, but they didn’t tell the rest of us to do that.
[...]
LP: How would you grade Biden on how he’s handled the pandemic? PA: I’d give him an F. In some ways, he fails worse than Trump because more people have actually died from COVID on his watch than on Trump’s, though blame has to be shared with Republican governors and legislators who picked ideological fights opposing things like responsible masking, testing, vaccination, and ventilation improvements for partisan reasons. Biden’s administration has continued to promote the false idea that the vaccine is all that is needed, perpetuating the notion that the pandemic is over and you don’t need to do anything about it. Biden stopped the funding for surveillance and he stopped the funding for renewing vaccine advancement research. Trump allowed 400,000 people to die unnecessarily. The Biden administration policies have allowed more than 800,000 to 900,000 and counting.
[...]
LP: The situation with bird flu is certainly getting more concerning with the CDC confirming that a third person in the U.S. has tested positive after being exposed to infected cows. PA: Unfortunately, we’re repeating many of the same mistakes because we now know that the bird flu has made the jump to several species. The most important one now, of course, is the dairy cows. The dairy farmers have been refusing to let the government come in and inspect and test the cows. A team from Ohio State tested milk from a supermarket and found that 50% of the milk they tested was positive for bird flu viral particles.
[...]
PA: There’s a serious risk now in allowing the virus to freely evolve within the cow population. Each cow acts as a breeding ground for countless genetic mutations, potentially leading to strains capable of jumping to other species. If any of those countless genetic experiments within each cow prove successful in developing a strain transmissible to humans, we could face another pandemic – only this one could have a 58% death rate. Did you see the movie “Contagion?” It was remarkably accurate in its apocalyptic nature. And that virus only had a 20% death rate. If the bird flu makes the jump to human-to-human transition with even half of its current lethality, that would be disastrous.
#sars cov 2#covid 19#h5n1#bird flu#articles#long covid is def a global issue not just for those in the us and most countries aren't doing much better#regardless of how much lower the mortality rate for h5n1 may or may not become if/when it becomes transmissible between humans#having bird flu infect a population the majority of whose immune system has been decimated by sars2#to the point where the average person seems to have a hard time fighting off the common cold etc...#(see the stats of whooping cough/pertussis and how they're off the CHARTS this yr in the uk and aus compared to previous yrs?#in qld average no of cases was 242 over prev 4 yrs - there have been /3783/ diagnosed as of june 9 this yr and that's just in one state.#there's a severe shortage of meds for kids in aus bc of the demand and some parents visit +10 pharmacies w/o any luck)#well.#let's just say that i miss the days when ph orgs etc adhered to the precautionary principle and were criticised for 'overreacting'#bc nothing overly terrible happened in the end (often thanks to their so-called 'overreaction')#now to simply acknowledge the reality of an obviously worsening situation is to be accused of 'fearmongering'#🤷♂️#also putting long covid and bird flu aside for a sec:#one of the wildest things that everyone seems to overlook that conor browne and others on twt have been saying for yrs#is that the effects of the covid pandemic extend far beyond the direct impacts of being infected by the virus itself#we know sars2 rips apart immune system+attacks organs. that in effect makes one more susceptible to other viruses/bacterial infections etc#that in turn creates increased demand for healthcare services for all kinds of carers and medications#modern medicine and technology allows us to provide often effective and necessary treatment for all kinds of ailments#but what if there's not enough to go around? what happens when the demand is so high that it can't be provided fast enough -- or at all?#(that's assuming you can even afford it)#what happens when doctors and nurses and other healthcare workers keep quitting due to burnout from increased patients and/or illness#because they themselves do not live in a separate reality and are not any more sheltered from the effects of constant infection/reinfection#of sars2 and increased susceptibility to other illnesses/diseases than the rest of the world?#this is the 'new normal' that's being cultivated (the effects of which are already blatantly obvious if you're paying attention)#and importantly: it. doesn't. have. to. be. this. way.

I opened Alex’s twitter and his bio says he loves pineapple pizza and I was like Alex..Alex no, maybe Marc wasn’t the reason Alex isn’t allowed in Yamaha maybe Vale saw that and the Italian in him got severely offended and was like no keep this man away, but he’s in a Italian team so I wonder if he’s ever made them have pineapple pizza and how disgusted they would be.
lucky for you i saw this. opened instagram. and gresini was literally having him make a pineapple pizza. cwazy. ummm he IS making that a goofy little contrarian personality trait which i DO enjoy. i think he likes when people do silly fake mad arguments at him… the kind you do with your friends…. that’s the vibe i get
#also he added olives which EYE consider a federal offense#sorry didn’t answer the rosquez angle… was too lost in the (pizza) sauce#motogp#callie speaks#asks#rosquez#WAIT. he also says he’s a bad cook (rated himself 2/10) but i also remember marc saying alex is better than him#which makes sense because he BURED himself cooking pizza during covid… catastrophic

Lay With Me (Sleep It Off)
Apparently one of the symptoms of covid is fevers… guess who just spent the last 5 or so days with a low-grade fever 🙄 it started with me waking up at 3am to use the bathroom, thinking I was fine until I got out of my (warm) bed and started shivering uncontrollably.
Also my eyes started hurting about halfway through so uh. If you see any typos. No you don’t ✌️
Steve wakes up to Eddie’s hand drifting over his skin.
It’s something that happens more often than not, nowadays, to the point where he rolls over and presses his hips to Eddie’s automatically.
Eddie’s hand stutters. “Baby?” He asks, and Steve frowns, because neither of them had expected him to be soft.
“Yeah,” he murmurs, still sleep-drunk. “Dunno.”
“You want it?” Eddie asks, then presses a kiss to his forehead and freezes again. “Oh, shit, baby, you’re hot.”
“Mmm,” Steve says. “Thanks.”
Eddie chuckles. “Though you are hot, that’s not the kind I’m talking about, babydoll. I think you have a fever.”
Steve frowns. “No, ‘m fine. Got work.”
“Unfortunately, I don’t think fevers care about our work schedules.”
“Rude,” Steve murmurs. “They should.” He sighs and tucks himself closer to Eddie, because he’s warm and Steve is a little bit cold. “Time’s it?”
“Almost eight.” He runs a hand down Steve’s back. “You’ve got a little over an hour.”
Steve smiles against Eddie’s throat. “You were gonna make me late.”
“Was not,” Eddie retorts, even though they both know that’s a lie.
Steve hums and wiggles further into Eddie’s warmth. “Gotta get up,” he says, doing absolutely nothing to do so.
Eddie keeps petting Steve’s back, which furthers his resolve to do nothing. “I think you should stay home, baby. If you’re sick…”
“Not,” Steve argues nonsensically. “Don’t have time.”
Eddie sighs, pressing a kiss to Steve’s temple. “Okay, baby. If you’re not sick, then you need to get up and get ready to take a shower, right?”
“Mhm,” Steve mumbles. “Come with?”
“Of course I will, baby. Following your lead here. You gonna get up?”
Steve groans, strangely feels like crying as he detaches himself from Eddie and shuffles across the bed to sit on the edge.
He stands after a second and walks to the closet, realizing as he’s reaching for a shirt that he’s trembling, shivering. He’s suddenly, viscerally aware of how cold he is, and he can’t stop his teeth from chattering as he looks to Eddie with a furrowed brow.
“Baby,” Eddie murmurs, pulling him into a hug and taking some of his weight. “You’re sick. You should be in bed.”
“No,” Steve murmurs, ashamed at the tears pricking at his lids. “Can’t- need to work-”
“I’ll call Robin,” Eddie soothes. “She’ll figure it out, ‘kay? But you know as well as I do that she’d tell you to stay home, too.”
Steve sniffles. “Don’t wanna be sick,” he mutters petulantly.
Eddie runs a hand through Steve’s hair. “I know, baby, it’s not fun, is it? Let’s get back in bed, I’ll make you a hot tea and call Robin, and then I’ll be right back and we can cuddle, alright?”
Steve nods slowly. “Tell Robin sorry.”
“I will, baby. You just focus on getting back into bed now, there you go. And I’ll be right back, m’kay?”
“‘Kay,” Steve agrees, letting his eyes slip shut again as chills continue to wrack his body.
Soon enough Eddie’s back with a tray of dry toast, hot tea, water, and some painkillers. Steve startles awake even though he’d only been half-asleep, and Eddie apologizes, rushing to place the tray down so he can assist Steve’s shaky arms in lifting his body to a seated position.
Steve is handed the water and meds first, then considers the tea and toast and shakes his head, trying to apologize. “It’s okay, baby,” Eddie murmurs. “They’ll keep, you need to eat something today, I’ll just heat them up later. I just wanna do what you need, m’kay? Right now your bodu is saying it needs more rest, and that’s just fine. C’mon, come lay down with me, go back to sleep, okay? Let’s try and sleep this off. I bet when you wake up, you’ll feel a hundred times better.”
“M’kay,” Steve murmurs, tucking his face into the crook of Eddie’s neck. “Thank you. Love you.”
“I love you too, baby,” Eddie whispers, sealing his vow with a kiss to the top of Steve’s head.
And with that, he drifts off to sleep.

If anyone's ever distressed over the current situation in doth just remember that in the canon storyline, they're getting invaded by aliens right about now.
#okay it's hard to judge timelines in cartoons because characters rarely change clothes and the backgrounds don't shift#plus the boys run around naked unless it's literally snowing out so they're not a great indicator#but it looks like it's still warm and there's plenty of tourists#and april's started her college classes#which would put the movie at the end of august/early september#unless april is taking summer classes#though i'd still put it at the end of summer considering she gets out of class when it's dark outside#in june that's like 10 pm#which i mean night classes are a thing but they rarely go THAT late#oh and the movie canonically took place in 2020#i guess a parallel 2020 where covid didn't destroy society
