I just found your Itty Bitty Au and I have to say, I love how you've written Perry and the other fairies to be... just a bit selfish? How Perry won't consider turning Dev into a Fairy- not because he doesn't really care about him or thinks there's a moral issue with it, but because if he turns Dev into a fairy it'll negatively effect HIM. Also, super excited to see more of Timmy (both)!

Fairies are not like humans in that they have “Good or Bad” morals. Fairies, by nature, are extremely selfish. They don’t care for human conflicts, human goodness, or human morale.

A fairy’s first priority is doing their job right for their court, and their second priority is doing what they want most. Selfishness is innate for Fairies as Compassion is innate for Humans.

Cosmo and Wanda are outliers in that they care about their godchildren to an emotional degree. It’s what made them the best fairies to be godparents!! Peri… doesn’t understand that quite yet.

one of the things that continues to strike me on reread is how much the character of Darcy, and Austen through him, finds Mr. Bennet dead. And how much Elizabeth, in growing and changing and discarding her past blindness, has to move past her way of seeing her father and thus of seeing reality, because the two are connected! Darcy’s letter exposes her father’s flaws to Elizabeth in a way she’d never been able to see before. Most especially the way his laziness and neglect of his own gifts have hurt his family and that ultimately he doesn’t. care. Not enough to change. It literally says that she comes home from Hunsford and tries to laugh at her sisters’ and mother’s folly (the way she used to; the way her father has taught her to by example for her whole life) and she can’t anymore! It sticks in her throat. She is grieved by the failures that she sees in him, all the more so because she IS his favorite and she loves him! And the thing about Mr. Bennet is he never changes. The Lydia/wickham situation exposes to him sharply his own conduct and the consequences and he feels it! Because he is neither stupid nor unfeeling. But he, like everyone, has free will. And he chooses not to change when the opportunity presents itself. He even jokes about how quickly his feeling bad will pass and how soon everything will go back to normal, to his laziness and his selfishness. He is set in his ways and he serves as a contrast to Elizabeth’s personal journey because he embodies a version of a person she could have become and was in danger of becoming if her only goal at all times was to laugh at and judge people from the sidelines.

sometimes someone will tell you an incredibly judgmental opinion on you or on your life and it will be completely invalidating and it will be based only on their ignorance on whatever they are talking about and as hurtful as that invalidation is you should not assume that everyone will think the same way, even if they are sure they are telling an absolute truth. that is a weird thing to do in the first place and you don’t have to prove yourself to someone who believes they have constant moral or intellectual superiority. they’re an exception, not the rule. no one is judging you so hard and it’s okay if you don’t want to hang around someone who constantly puts you down or makes you feel like you don’t belong. just don’t assume everyone else agrees with them without ever giving other people a chance.

most often people are just dealing with their own problems and they are not scrutinizing every little thing you do, and you don’t have to act like someone else’s opinion of you is the whole truth just because they want that you to, especially when it’s based of no knowledge or experience and it carries so much prejudice. if you can walk away from those types of discussions, please do. don’t justify everything you do to someone who is committed to judging you based on their misconceptions and it’s not willing to see things from another perspective. I just promise you not everyone will be like them

not gonna lie, motivation is so hard to muster lately when I feel like interactions are so low.

This is more a personal thought than anything — but I have so, so many asks in my inbox right now asking for various teasers and snippets, and when I do share them (or, certain ones), they rack up interactions. Sure, they’re more easily digestible/there’s less commitment involved with scanning a few hundred words, but those always prompt an additional wave of asks questioning about timelines for updates. Awesome! It lifts my spirit up! People want to read!

Except, when I finally do post an update, there’s few to no interactions with it. Almost no reblogs/comments. What makes me feel worse is that the full chapter itself ends up having far fewer likes even than the 200 word porn teaser from the same fic.

And then the cycle repeats. I post one small snippet and then a flurry of asks about the timeline for the next release, (better) interactions on extremely short (and usually, smutty) teasers, and then next to nothing by comparison when I actually post an update. Idk, so much about writing on here has changed since I joined last summer. Maybe I just need to give up the creative fic stuff and focus on doing exclusively requests and smut and keeping everything below 1-2k words.

TL;dr. It’s hard when the majority of your interactions are asking for updates because, when you do put them out, you only get more of the same questions.

i loved the part of the book where piranesi resolves to take better care of himself while he's rediscovering his own history. he just has so much compassion for himself! the journal upsets him so he takes a week off and does things he enjoys and then he settles into a safe place when he wants to tackle the subject again. and he doesn't believe The Other when he's told about his amnesia! he values his own insights and his own knowledge of the House even when fucking ketterley is actively trying to undermine his sense of self. piranesi's gentle treatment of himself and the person he used to be is genuinely so moving.
