USA TODAY was provided copies of the emailed threats, which were also sent to Alejandra Caraballo, a clinical instructor at the Harvard Law School Cyberlaw Clinic who writes frequently about the issues.
One emailed threat was apparently sent to Anne Perry, a state representative. Perry, a Democrat who represents a small district in far-northeastern Maine, is the main sponsor of LD227, a bill introduced this week that would protect doctors in the state who provide gender affirming care to patients from states that have laws hostile to such treatment.
The threat also apparently named Sen. Donna Bailey, Perry’s co-sponsor on the bill.
Earlier this week, Perry and Bailey were targeted in a series of posts on X, formerly known as Twitter, by Libs of TikTok. The tweets listed both lawmakers’ email addresses.
In January, the Maine State House was evacuated for a bomb threat on the first day of the legislative session. At the time, the legislature was considering another bill on transgender care. That bill died in committee later the same month.
Calls and emails to Perry, the Maine State Police, Maine Capitol Police and FBI were not immediately returned.

TLDR: Possibility that election day bomb threats were for eventually discrediting alterations to tabulation databases
Soooo, someone named Stephen Spoonamore is posting on spoutable that it's possible the 32 bomb threats were to break chain of custody, and cover up a hack to the tabulation systems in those counties. The link to this can be found here.
I have no clue how credible this guy is, nor am I any expert on the claims he's making. Therefore, I'm just sharing this and make no comment agreeing or disagreeing with these claims. While I haven't yet found the tv show he mentions being in, he's mentioned on the wikipedia article on Premier Election Solutions (Edit history indicates his name was in the article since at least 2011)
edit: clarified tldr
edit 2: the first entry in the thread is marked with an accuracy alert; however the author of that alert appears to have conflated Spoonamore's statements with something else.
edit 3: turns out that the number 32 was actually just one county. We are f*cked if we don't do anything.

An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress
Immediate Investigation Required: Election Integrity Threatened
9 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
The recent wave of bomb threats at polling sites, delayed ballot counts, and technical malfunctions are raising significant public concerns about this election. With over 30 threats reported at voting locations, alongside signs of foreign interference and operational disruptions, a thorough investigation is essential for transparency and accountability.
To uphold the integrity of our democratic process, we urge immediate action to examine potential interference or fraud. If necessary, a recount or even a revote should be considered to restore voter trust. Addressing these concerns directly will reassure Americans that every vote is secure and counted.
Thank you for your commitment to the principles of our democratic system.

Yes, Putin is trying to help his MAGA vassal Donald Trump by making bomb threats against polling places in locations in Georgia which are 90% black.
Several non-credible bomb threats that briefly disrupted voting at two Georgia polling places originated from Russia, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger told reporters Tuesday. “We’ve heard some threats that were of Russian origin. I don’t know how to describe that that’s viable – we don’t think they are, but in the interest of public safety, we always check that out, and we’ll just continue to be very responsible when we hear about stuff like that,” Raffensperger said. “We identified the source, and it was from Russia.” “They’re up to mischief, it seems, and they don’t want us to have a smooth, fair and accurate election,” he added. “Anything that can get us to fight amongst ourselves - they can count that as a victory.”
This civil rights song, performed at the Obama White House, is a great response to Putin and his US lickspittles.

Why was Russia making bomb threats at our polls?????
Hiya lovely,
The bomb threats were centered on polling places in Georgia. They were believed to be Russian in origin. I would expect they chose Georgia because its one of the states that was flipped during the 2020 election that allowed Biden to win over Trump. Russia and Putin really want Trump to win because he is easily manipulated and tends to fall in line with what Putin wants, things that can be detrimental to the US as a whole. Trump likes money, Putin has a lot of it.

More threats to polling stations around the country, being traced back to Russia.
Note that there do not seem to be any actual bombs, so THIS SHOULD NOT INTIMIDATE YOU OUT OF GOING TO VOTE. Also, if voting is delayed, remember that they have to let you vote as long as you're in line when polls close. DO NOT LEAVE THE LINE.
The goal is to delay and sabotage the vote. Don't let it work.
However, this is a clear act of terrorism against the United States by the government of Russia. It demands strong and immediate retaliation.

Alice Herman, Joanna Walters, and Rachel Leingang at The Guardian:
Pete Hegseth, Donald Trump’s defense secretary pick, was among several cabinet nominees and appointees of the president-elect’s incoming administration who were targeted with bomb threats and so-called “swatting” on Wednesday, the Guardian has learned.
Elise Stefanik, a Republican congresswoman of New York and Trump’s pick for US ambassador to the United Nations, who has emerged as a hard-right loyalist of Trump in the last few years, was the subject of a bomb threat, her office said. The home of Howard Lutnick, Trump’s choice for commerce secretary and part of his transition team, was threatened, the Bronx outlet News 12 reported. And Lee Zeldin, the Environmental Protection Agency pick, saw his Long Island home threatened, News 12 in Long Island also reported. Zeldin later posted on X saying: “A pipe bomb threat targeting me and my family at our home today was sent in with a pro-Palestinian themed message.” He said they were not at home and were trying to find out more. A report also emerged via CNN that Matt Gaetz was also targeted. The former congressman was Trump’s first choice for US attorney general but withdrew after eight days amid a sexual misconduct scandal that meant he risked not being confirmed by the Senate.
[...] The threats were made on both Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Members of law enforcement and various authorities acted quickly to ensure the safety of those targeted, according to Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s spokesperson and incoming White House press secretary, who released a statement. Leavitt did not give further details on the nature of the different threats. Spokespeople for the FBI and the justice department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Several of Donald Trump’s picks to serve in his cabinet were subjected to swatting and bomb threats.

A group of “online trolls” made fake bomb threats and swatting calls against more than two-dozen synagogues across the US in what the Anti-Defamation League called a sickening display of antisemitism Sunday.
The group targeted at least 26 synagogues and two ADL offices across 12 states over the last four weekends, according to the organization.
The ADL is working with law enforcement and other community members to prevent the “ongoing disruption to Jewish prayer services, as well as additional targets, by a group of online trolls who swat and call in fake bomb threats,” Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and national director of the ADL, said in a statement Sunday.
The suspects appear to go after synagogues that livestream their services, the ADL said.

Quebec police say authorities in Morocco have arrested a man who was allegedly behind a series of phony bomb threats sent to several institutions across the province. The provincial police force says the unnamed, 45-year-old male suspect was arrested in the Moroccan town of Tafraoute, roughly 230 kilometres southwest of Marrakech. The arrest follows what police describe as a mass e-mailing of fake bomb threats across Canada and other countries demanding money in exchange for the location of explosives.

Something I never had to think about as a kid.
Didn't think about it much when my own kids were in school. Except there were bomb threats. Fortunately, none of their schools ever blew up, and they weren't ambushed when they lined up outside. Who even thinks like that?
If you want to get guns out of schools, get Republicans out of office. ~ Brian Tyler Cohen
