Ashraf asked me to draw some art for his campaign in order to get more attention for his campaign. I've spent a few days talking with Ashraf while working on this drawing of his little son.

Ashraf is 30 years old and used to be a chicken farmer before the IOF destroyed his home and business. He has a lovely wife named Widad and a 1 ½-year-old son named Bakr.

Ashraf has been risking his life to receive a strong enough internet connection to communicate with myself and others.

Just yesterday, Ashraf had to end our conversation for his own safety. There was shelling close to where he could get internet connection!

during the past several days, i have received a mass influx of asks and messages from vetted palestinians seeking my support for their campaigns. up until now, i have been answering these people on an individual basis, but i no longer find that very practical given how many there are, so i'm going to try to create masterlists like this one instead. it's something i had been considering doing for a while now, since i find that lists tend to get more engagement, not to mention that it's recently become clear that a good handful of people on here baselessly equate asks with scams, so maybe this will help.

Give a Family Hope for the New Year!

The start of a new year should be a time for happiness, community, and hopeful plans. However, hope is hard to find for families in Gaza, as another year of continued war and genocide begins for them. This includes Mounir Alanqar and his family.

Mounir @sham-moner is only 19, but he has taken on the responsibility of raising funds to support himself and his family throughout this horrific situation. On top of this, he has been recovering from surgery while suffering from hunger and cold.

The rest of Mounir's family is struggling as well. His mother has asthma, which is especially dangerous when warmth and medicine are hard to access in Gaza. His whole family is suffering from malnutrition. His little sister, Sham, has been sent to the hospital previously for malnutrition. She is only four years old, and she has been suffering from lack of food and contaminated water.

Mounir and his family have only raised 12% of their goal so far, and donations keep stagnating. Sometimes they go for days at a time without receiving any donations. They can't afford for this to continue.

Please, help Mounir and his family get what they need to live in this coming year. Share and donate, help them get the food, warmth, and medical care they need. Any donations, no matter how small, makes a difference!

this article was published more than a year ago. the situation has only gotten worse since. pregnant women and newborns are having a really difficult time trying to survive due to the famine that is rapidly spreading throughout gaza.

the lack of health facilities, mass displacement, and restricted access to food and medicines are extremely harmful to pregnant women and newborn babies. new mothers are unable to get formula or milk powder for their children because of how expensive it is.

i cannot understate the importance of supporting pregnant women from gaza. they need help to ensure that they have access to healthcare, enough food to ensure proper development of their baby, funds to ensure that the needs of the child can be addressed (food, clothes, medicines).

sahar alanqar lives with her husband alaa and two children in gaza. she is currently pregnant and due to give birth in two short months. she is fundraising to ensure that her husband and children stay safe and healthy. please donate to her and share her fundraiser. she has been verified by gazavetters and is number 252 on their spreadsheet.

If you have time to have an opinion on this question, take a minute to also read about Dina and Ahmed Alanqar. Ahmed was an accountant in Gaza before the genocide began. He and Dina now have four children, the youngest a baby born on June 24. Their home was destroyed, and they have been displaced repeatedly, so they live in a tent with little food, water, or medicine.

The good news is that their campaign to raise money to enable them to escape to Egypt is now over 90 percent funded:

Their campaign is vetted by Palestinian bloggers (see the Vetted Gaza Evacuation Fundraiser List, line 264). As of 07:30 GMT on Sunday, October 27, 2024, they're up to €69,379 of their €75,000 goal. That means they have just €5,621 left to raise to reach their target.
