Back by (alarmingly) popular demand; Nightmare!!

And Dream’s debut!

I wanted these two to be pretty distinct from both their canon and fanon depictions. As such, they are both HORRIBLE guardians of their respective trait.

Genuinely, if it weren’t for the aura they carry and how positivity and negativity affect them, their roles might as well be reversed.

Dream tends to distance himself from those he loves leading him to be a very absent, emotionally and literally, caretaker for Palette. He’s always on the go. Needing to be everywhere at once. Helping as many people as possible. All to his own detriment.

Nightmare likes to put up a grumpy, narcissistic, and downright evil front, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He would never admit it but he adores his gang. Though, other than those three he’s completely isolated.

Oh also!

Nightmare has largely overcome his curse. Don’t get me wrong, he still has a ton of left over resentment and wants to inflict the same pain he received, but he’s still himself. Dream, however, is not convinced. He wholeheartedly believes his brother died that day and has completely given up hope on “curing” him.

They’re so silly I love them <3

Extra notes:

Dream’s pendant works the same as Palette’s little wish balls except his are for hopes and dreams.

Nightmare’s moon necklace is all that’s left of his crown.

desert duo is so interesting because they complete eachother and ARE eachother in a way. Like, scar is chaotic and smart and can pull off some crazy shit when hes ready. Grian is chaotic and smart and also pulls off crazy shit. Just in the opposite direction. When teamed, grian is often scars impulse control but at the same time his biggest enabler. BOTH of them have scary dog privilages btw.

Like people fear scar because hes such a wild card and definitely capable if he tries, usually half planned and usually give up on plans and just go for it. But forgetting that grian can also be scary is a crazy mistake to make. He'll plan things to all hell and orchestrate your demise like 2 episodes in advance. With scars impulse control gone and said impulse control's own control gone, well. Good luck dealing with them.

They work so well together in the sense that their uncoordination is where they flourish and even in seasons they dont work with eachother they still have this odd "were not friends this time but im not gonna mess with you because i know what your capable of" but at the same time "i want to be around you even if you can still kill me"

something about possessive desperate needy sam is like cocaine to me. whiny baby brother that pouts and whines and sniffles whenever dean gives attention to anyone or anything else and tries to keep that attention on him at all costs???? fuck yes.

but. something about dean being the needy whiny possessive one is absolute CRACK. TO ME. dean trying to please his baby brother, doing whatever he wants and whatever he needs and even trying to hold back and hide the way he feels because he doesn't want to overwhelm sammy but even holding back he looks absolutely insane to the average person. at school, some girl being like "im having a party you should come" and then him being like "nah gotta stay home with my brother" and the girl like "oh that sucks lol" and dean "??? i just said i'm staying with my brother did you not hear me???? is there anything better than that???" and the girl just. oh. ok. and trying again by insinuating she wants to hook up and dean just "yeah sure i'll let you know! gotta talk to sammy first" . and she just. leaves. confused af. and dean doesn't even notice cause he's been watching sam across the cafeteria while he eats his lunch, trying to read his lips to know what he's talking about with his classmate. like the absolute creep he is.
