Paradise

Who knew if it was out there, really? The All Blue? A cook’s paradise? He knew many had scoffed at it, but whether it was out there or not, he was determined to find it. 

He finished off the dessert tray and came outside to the smiling faces of the crew. 

Maybe he’d already found his own All Blue.

They’ve almost made it back to the Sunny. When the exploding wristlets are brought up, and with Pudding’s devil fruit ability, can they really be sure Reiju managed to switch them out for fakes?

32 Days of Sanji 2017  Prompt: Promise 

“It wasn’t your fault.” 

“How do you know?” Sanji said harshly, his head in his hands. 

“Because I know you.” Luffy’s voice had that matter-of-fact tone again. “If you didn’t protect her, it wasn’t your choice.” 

“I promised her I’d protect her. And now—now she’s—” 

“She’s going to make a full recovery,” Chopper announced, coming out of his office. “She needs a lot of rest, but she’ll be fine.” 

Sanji looked up and jumped to his feet, eyes brimming with tears. “What can I do?” he asked. “Can I see her?” 

“She’s sleeping,” Chopper said, startled by the fast response as Luffy grinned. “So be quiet!” 

Sanji hurried inside while Luffy complimented Chopper. 

“Nami-san,” he whispered, sitting next to her and shutting the door. She was covered in bandages and fast asleep, an IV going into her arm. 

“I’m sorry,” Sanji whispered, bowing his head. “I’m so sorry. I’ll protect you next time. I—I promise.” 

Nami stirred.

Change of Pace

32 Days of Sanji 2017  Prompt: Sacrifice 

Sanji was so used to sacrificing himself. He had dived into the sea against fishmen at Cocoyashi, thrown himself down a mountain on Drum Island, gotten himself electrocuted by God on Skypiea, and shielded Nami on Thriller Bark. 

Which was why he was caught off-guard when someone sacrificed himself in his place. 

“Take my head instead!”

Drunk

32 Days of Sanji 2017  Prompt: Fight 

“Nami-swaaan—” Sanji hiccuped, leaning into her. “Did you know I’ve never lost a fight?” 

They were sitting aside from the impromptu party. Luffy and Chopper drank juice, but everyone else already had pinked cheeks from the booze (except for Zoro, who was on his tenth glass and had yet to show signs of intoxication). 

“Oh?” she said, gently pushing him away with her free hand. She took a drink from her own mug with the other. “What about on Skypiea?” 

“That doesn’ coun’, Nami-san,” he insisted, cheeks ruddy from the alcohol and eyes far too bright. “I wan’d to save youuuu—and Usopp, to a lesser degree—will you go out with me, Nami-swan~?” 

“No.” 

His eyes watered and he started to cry. 

“Or,” she continued, “maybe I will, if you can do a couple things for me.” 

“Anythin’, Nami-swan, Nami-swama, Nami-dono—” 

“If you beat me in a fight, I’ll go out with you.” 

Sanji’s lip quivered again. “No fair, Nami-swan, I can’ possibly harm your pristine skin—” He stroked his fingers over her arm. “I’d drown m’self if I did—” 

“Well, Chopper could fix me up.” Nami winked at Robin, who wasn’t bothering to hide her eavesdropping. 

“Bu’ you’d be hurt, Nami-swan,” he wailed, clinging to her. “I’m gonna beat up anyone who hurts you! And I’d beat up m’self, too! I’ll set m’self on fire—” 

He trailed off, mumbling something, and Nami looked down to see he had fallen asleep against her.
