Trying to plan a summer camping trip to a popular national park is like a rube Goldberg machine filled with saw traps and the unrelentingly ambiguity of government web pages coupled with the unknowable whims of the weather.

Oh, this campground releases its reservations at 9am central time 6 months prior to the date of your trip, but actually only if the weather permits so be careful making reservations for before mid-june if its high elevation, and you need a car pass to enter the park unless you are camping east of this gate, which some but not all of the campgrounds are, or if you have a boat tour or horseback reservation at a location east if this checkpoint, but not locations west of the checkpoint, and you could backcountry camp but the lottery for that doesn't open until March, but 30% of backcountry sites are first come first served but only the ones that aren't reserved by the lottery. (You dont need a car permit if your backcountry reservation begins at a trailhead past this checkpoint, but you do otherwise) And of course you need an entry ticket regardless, which is separate from everything else. Oh and if you want a backcountry hiking lodge that with a different company, just so you know.

I think one of my least favorite things that I have had to consistently deal with in college is how professors just assume you have a friend group on campus and will bank some assignments with the expectation that you are going to have friends to help you complete it for whatever reason. Like I am sorry I feel very socially incompetent and barely know anyone here...!
