I think this is very much intentional- a reflection of the idea that what is true doesn't matter nearly as much as what people believe, which is also the case for the Eve thing. Eve catches all the blame, even though Adam also ate the fruit- just like with LTT. Both he and Mierin (and presumably Beidomon as well though we don't know his motivation) in their pride sought to mess with the Dark One's prison, but history remembers Lews Therin's sin and not her's, because it agrees with their ingrained cultural prejudices (that men can't be trusted with power).

I know some people think that Mierin drilling the Bore takes away from the core WoT tenet of reversing original sin, but I think it actually enforces it to have a more analogous event that ends up not even mattering in the text. Like, no one outside of a handful of Aiel and the Forsaken would even remember what she did, and the Forsaken don’t even talk about it. There’s maaaybe some folklore about this that has been misconstrued throughout the years, as in EotW Thom says he will tell the story about how Lews Therin and the 100 Companions tried to free the Dark One from his prison, but this is also some early instalment weirdness that never comes up again, whereas the Breaking and the taint are always at the front of people’s minds.

And I mean Beidomon was very much a part of the Bore drilling too, we just never talk about him.

Joey was born in Newcrest and still lives there today. He is 21 years old. He has had the same best friend, Manny, since kindergarten. His mom left him (to be a “free spirit,” whatever that means) when he was a toddler, and he has only seen her a few times since. His dad provided for his basic needs, but was more interested in running the retail businesses he owned than raising a child. 

Joey was over at Manny’s house all the time as a child, and Manny’s parents practically raised him, and he also raised himself. For that reason, he’s very independent, but he also has a hard time forming close bonds with people. Manny is his closest and most long-lasting relationship.

Joey is a heterosexual serial monogamist and a smooth talker. His term of endearment for every one of his girlfriends is “Doll.” The passionate, whirlwind romances he has usually burn themselves out pretty quickly. Sometimes he ends them, but usually the woman does. To be honest, he’s pretty much ready for them to leave when they go.  There are a lot of interesting and beautiful women in Newcrest County, and Joey wants to meet them all.

He’s kindhearted and doesn’t set out to hurt anyone. He also doesn’t lie to the women he’s with. He tells them from the start that he’s “not the marrying type,” and he never says “I love you” unless he means it. (He has never said “I love you.”) He does get sad sometimes after a breakup, but it’s less about missing the girlfriend than it is about feeling alone in the world.

The two things his dad did teach him were how to run a business (Joey often helped out at his dad’s businesses when he was younger) and how to smoke. Joey excelled at both. When Joey turned 18, his dad moved away from Newcrest. His dad gave one of his businesses, a bowling alley called Incredibowl, to Joey and told Joey he was a man now and needed to make it on his own (subtext: don’t come asking me for money).

Joey hired a reliable manager and oversees the business while the manager does the day-to-day work. Joey works about 8 to 10 hours a week, and is able to live the lifestyle he wants off the income. He doesn’t make a huge amount of money, but he makes enough to rent an apartment, wine and woo women, and keep his motorcycle well maintained. What more could a person ask for?

Joey plays the drums and sometimes goes camping and fishing with his guy friends. He has a small circle of friends he hangs out with, and he also has friends in the Wharf Crew, a motorcycle gang based out of Brindleton Bay. He is street smart and is good at repairs. He likes watching sports and listening to music. He’s not into reading. He works out at a boxing gym, and he’s a member of the Bear Lodge, a fraternal social club.

Joey is applying to be a contestant in the Love Island Challenge by @colourfullsims​. He doesn’t expect to meet the love of his life, and while the cash would be nice, it’s not really a motivator for getting on the show. His girlfriend just broke up with him, and he thought the show would get his mind off of things and maybe be a fun adventure. If he doesn’t win, it’s fine--maybe he can console the other losers?

Blesséd Samhain for my people in Spirit... And a wonderful All Hallow's Eve to the rest!

First a little to discuss regarding our very sensitive "Holiday" (depending on your culture)... Trick or treating has been a wonderful tradition in our belovéd country for over 80 years. In other customs and traditions, there is a suggestion of similar practices.

[Its interesting to note that in an article I read once, it was actually referred to as a ritual practice. For those of you whose modern sensibilities have the tolerance of a bull in a china shop, don't worry... We'll get to that later...]

Traditions across the world show customs of going door to door and collecting gifts on All Hallows Eve.

Let me give you my somewhat objective, Priestly viewpoint on this. All Hallows Eve is a Spiritual night in many traditions. It is described as when the veil between the worlds of the Spiritual and the worlds of the Physical is at a lower vibrational energy pattern. (This could actually be explained in Physics for anyone not afraid to crack a book 📖)

Now, when this happens, there are some Spiritual beings that can manifest in the physical world during this time. Many customs have shown covering mirrors with a black veil, and many more "protections"...including our beloved ritual of collecting chocolates and treats on October 31st. On or around this date, the Sun's angle to the constellation Libra is exactly center aligned...Libra is said to be the Energy of Balance of All Things, even a Balance of Spirit and Physical. Some of our ancestors would decorate their homes with sacred, blessed, protective adornments... [some are downright mean looking...not because their users were evil...the monster was meant to scare away would be Spirits who were up to no good...sigh, I digress]. These decorations sent two important messages: "GO AWAY" or "You Are Welcome To Partake Gifts IF you go away"... Nowadays we have Hallowe'en decorations...typically to indicate what? I'll wait...

Rest assured, the only people celebrating this so-called "devils" day by harming people or doing so-called satan worship, are crazy af [why, yes that's a texhnical term 🤔], evil af, and/or in no way spiritually in tune with ANYTHING benevolent. They're also typically involved in a cult, and could suffer from any number of mental instabilities. #IJS

Since there are SOME psychos out there, best to include a word to the wise

⚠ Remember to be safe ⚠

⚠ 1.) Check your childrens' candy before letting them eat it. If anything has been opened or tampered with, has any holes, or otherwise doesn't look like it just came out of a bag at walmart... REJECT IT 👎 ✖❌❎🚱⛔

⚠ 2.) Best not to allow your children go unnacompanied. Let's be honest, most children don't have the best judgement

⚠ 3.) DO NOT approach a house that is not well-lit or otherwise unwelcoming! It's best if you target local businesses and houses in WELL-LIT neighborhoods with plenty of decorations. If it's not inviting, you're not invited.

⚠ 4.) Stick to the curfew! It's there for a reason. 🌞

Now, back to the soap box. The word ritual is defined as :

Sensor Sweep: Creeps by Night, Grip, Gatekeeping, The Royal Netherlands Indies Army

Books (Don Herron): You may not know, but way back in 1931, the up-and-coming Wisconsin writer August Derleth teamed up with the newly famous detective novelist Dashiell Hammett to edit a collection of supernatural horror fiction titled Creeps by Night: Chills and Thrills.

Over the next forty years, Derleth would become one of the most prominent figures promoting the literature of horror, not only with the many anthologies and collections issued by his small press Arkham House, but with a baker’s dozen of his own mainstream anthologies, beginning with Sleep No More in 1944.

While Hammett’s fame as an author would only increase from that point on, Creeps by Night would be his single significant brush with the weird tale.

  Writers (Don Herron); It wouldn’t engage a flight of fancy to say that Robert E. Howard was known to have exaggerated a bit in his correspondence. Whether he thought he needed to impress his friends by inventing — or improving upon —  fights or marathon drinking binges he had either participated in or had been a witness to is something that most likely will never be completely uncovered by any Howard scholar.

But I’ve got one for you.

A 4th of July letter to future Arkham House co-founder, and Howard’s fellow contributor to Weird Tales, August Derleth has always attracted my attention.

Publishing (Walker’s Retreat): It’s time, folks. We’ve got the writers eating the lunch of the SJW-dominated tradpub world of SF/F novels and also, slowly, trying to find a way to bring back the old magazines so that short fiction can find a market again. Across the street (so to speak) we’ve got the comics guys kicking the SJWs in the crotch and taking their milkshakes. In both vidya and tabletop, SJWs are losing ground as their antics keep showing the customers how fucked in the head they are- opening the door to sane competitors like Alexander Macris and the Pundit. And behind the scenes, grinning with satisfaction as it all unfolds, is the Supreme Dark Lord sipping his wine while atop his skull-adorned throne.

Conventions (Superversive SF): After Liberty Con Superversive Livestream

  Gaming (RPG Pundit): Well, the last couple of classic rants have generated a lot of discussion on the subject of social interaction in RPGs, and why I think most systems for “social mechanics” (much less ‘social combat’ or things like that) are abominable. But a few people seemed to have some sense of confusion as to how I could in one blog entry praise the mechanics of the Reaction Table from D&D as an example of a useful social-RP tool, and in another condemn the idea of using social skills/mechanics/whatever as a substitute for actually being required to ROLEPLAY it. This is clearly a result of people not having really read, or not understanding, how I make use of the Reaction rolls in OSR play. So it’s time to be more specific about the nuts and bolts of it.

  Gaming (Niche Gamer): Here’s a rundown on the new mode and the game itself:

Releasing in fall 2018, GRIP will feature, among other modes, 19 challenging ‘Carkour’ maps in which players are challenged to master a series of increasingly mind-bending stunt courses. Eighteen maps are Point-to-Point, culminating in a final, ‘open’ map – a playground of jumps, twist and turns packed full of collectibles.

From the short, sharp, shock of the Easy (Airtime, Speed, Squiggly, Tubes, Upsy Downsy) and Normal (Live Jump, Scoops, Slide) courses to the more demanding Hard (Angles, Endurance, Rainbow Road) and Nightmare (Half Tubes, Loop Gap) runs, there’s something to challenge everyone irrespective of skill level. Carkour Mode is the perfect tonic for those looking to concentrate on fine-tuning their timing, speed, and spatial awareness before heading back into Campaign or multi-player modes.

  Culture (Kairos): By now it should be obvious to everyone that we are all, in a real and quantifiable sense, going back. Even a mainstream media organ as lost in the fog of Current Year chronological snobbery as the New York Times is now forced to admit that American culture has regressed as hard and as far as the 1980s.

I have spent the last month trapped in a wrinkle in time. Not the film, mind you, though that was quite the fashion moment, and not the book. Rather, sitting by the runways, hour after hour, day after day, city after city between Feb. 7 and March 7, I could feel myself slipping further down a wormhole into the past. One moment it was 2018; the next it was 1981 (or ’85, or ’88).

But here’s the thing: I have been there before. I’m not sure I want to go back.

This is jailhouse / sea lawyer bullshit. The problem here is that we’re seeing a conflation of what gatekeeping commonly means to make the D&C/EVS/alt-comics crowd look like hypocrites.

  Gaming (Gaming While Conservative): It’s no exaggeration to lay the blame for the slow death of Western Civilization squarely at the feet of Lorraine Williams.  Her takeover of TSR led to the overwhelming popularity of Loser D&D, a style of play adopted by the broken souls who now lead the world.  Had Winner D&D continued to enjoy the popularity it had when  Saint Gygax stood at the helm of the USS Tabletop Gaming we would live in a world today that would make film Wakanda look like a real world African nation.

  Writers (On an Underwood No. 5): Every year I attend Howard Days, seeing the Howard House and Museum is a highlight, especially if the shop at the back of the house has new items for sale. This year was no exception. Among the items that were for sale in the museum shop this year were t-shirts with new designs. It’s not easy finding REH themed t-shirts, so getting new designs at the REH House and Museum is a nice plus.

  Military History (Osprey Publishing): Until 1945, Indonesia was a Dutch colony known as the Netherlands East Indies. In 1930, the area had over 60 million inhabitants and was a major exporter to Japan, providing some 13 per cent of its oil needs – second only after the United States. Following Germany’s occupation of the Netherlands in May 1940, Japan decided to expand its influence in the Netherlands East Indies.

Defending the colony was the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL). This force, designed primarily for colonial policing, underwent a series of cutbacks in the interwar years before adopting a modernisation programme in 1936, which focused on building up a strike air force, introducing tanks and increasing the firepower of the infantry and artillery.

Japonya’da ev hapsinde tutulan Nisssan’ın eski CEO’su Carlos Ghosn’un Lübnan’a kaçışının İstanbul ayağı ile ilgili gözaltına alınan 7 kişiden 2 HAVAŞ çalışanı serbest bırakıldı, MNG Jet Havacılık A.Ş. Operasyon Müdürü Okan Kösemen ve 4 pilot ise tutuklandı. Mahkeme, 5 şüpheliyi “Göçmen kaçakçılığı” suçundan tutukladı. Bakırköy Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığından yapılan süreçle ilgili yapılan açıklamada “Yapılan araştırmalar sonucu yabancı uyruklu Carlos GHOSN'un haklarında soruşturma yürütülen şüphelilerin yardımıyla özel bir havayolu şirketine ait uçakla ülkemize yasal olmayan yollardan gizlice girmiş ve aynı şirkete ait başka bir uçakla Lübnan ülkesine gittiği tespit edilmiştir.” denildi. TC-TSR ve TC- RZA’YA EL KONULDU Firar olayında kullanılan 2 uçak hakkında ise el koyma kararı verildi. Öte yandan el konulan uçaklardan; Osaka’dan Atatürk Havalimanı Genel Havacılık Terminali’ne gelen TC-TSR kuyruk No’lu uçakta Michael Taylor ve George Antonie Zayek isimli iki ABD vatandaşı, bir hostes ve 2 pilotun bulunduğu ortaya çıktı. İstanbul’dan Lübnan’a giden TC-RZA kuyruk kodlu uçakta da O.K. isimli bir yolcu, 1 hostes ve iki pilot toplam 4 kişi olduğu belirlendi. Toplamda 13 saat süren iki uçuşta da Ghosn’un ismine yer verilmediği gözlendi. BAKAN GÜL DE AÇIKLAMA YAPTI Adalet Bakanı Abdulhamit Gül de konuyla ilgili yaptığı açıklamada “Türkiye’de soruşturma devam ediyor.
